SOMETHING IS DRAINING THE BATTERY, KEEP HAVING TO JUMPSTART IT AND STALLS SOMETIMES WHEN DRIVING. BATTERY PASS AS GOOD. I DID RESEARCH ON IT AND A LOT OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT IT.
The lights are too dim to safely drive at night and they are becoming even worse and are now so low that I must use my high beams to see at night. I have spoken to the dealer but the only thing they suggested was a new headlight, it did not make anything better.
After purchasing the car in 2018 I noticed the low beam headlights were dimmer than other vehicles I've owned but gradually, they have gotten much, much worse. I have to drive with high beams on at night or I can barely see the road in front of me. Without the high beams engaged, visibility is limited to maybe 5-10 feet in front of the vehicle with virtually no visibility to the sides of the road. I will not drive this car in the rain at night as it is even more dangerous. When I had this vehicle serviced at the dealership, I asked about the lights but was told the fix was to replace the entire light housing for both at total cost of around $2000. It has become so bad that I may have to have the light housings replaced but I feel that this issue needs to be addressed by Acura as it directly affects being able to operate the car safely at night. This is my second Acura and I'm very disappointed, especially since the problem began when I first purchased the car which was only 3 years old at the time.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 ACURA RDX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS WERE VERY DIM WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT OR IN LOW LIGHT CONDITIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLIES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT SHE HAD REPLACED THE LIGHT BULBS SEVERAL TIMES WHICH FAILED TO FIX THE FAILURE. Headlights are so dim that it is unsafe to drive at night. I filed a complaint with Acura and then, per their instructions, I had the dealer do a "discovery". They charged me for the evaluation and then declined covering the reparation. They want to charge $2300 to replace the entre headlight housings.
On our base model 2015 RDX the low-beam headlights go dim after a couple of years. From what I've read this is due to the reflective bulb housing deteriorating in headlight assembly over time. New bulbs do not fix the problem. We have had the headlight assembly replaced once and the problem started all over again after a few years. The car is completely unsafe to drive at night. Acura has issued a similar recall to the RLX in the past but still has not acknowledged this same issue with the RDX and has yet to issue a recall. Please help.
My 2015 Acura RDX headlights are so dim it is dangerous to drive at night, especially with rain on the road. This affects my ability to drive safely at all times, on any roads, at night. I've tried replacing the bulbs, but the problem is inside the headlight assembly on the reflector and the lens. In order to be safe, I must perform a complete replacement of the headlight assembly, which costs over $1000 for each side.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 ACURA RDX. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE CONTACT INADVERTENTLY LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND COLLIDED WITH A TREE. THE CONTACT DID NOT KNOW HOW CONTROL WAS LOST, BUT BELIEVED IT WAS DUE TO A MECHANICAL FAILURE WITH THE VEHICLE. THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIR BAG DEPLOYED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES SUSTAINED. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (OPEN ROAD ACURA, 1425 ROUTE 23, WAYNE, NEW JERSEY 07470) WHERE IT WAS AWAITING DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
LOW BEAMS VERY DIM. DANGEROUS TO DRIVE AFTER DARK WITHOUT USING HIGH BEAMS. MANUFACTURER STATES THAT THE REFLECTIVE COATING IN THE LOW BEAM HOUSING LOSES IT'S ABILITY TO PROPERLY REFLECT LIGHT FROM HEADLAMP OVER TIME. REPLACEMENT QUOTE FROM BRADSHAW ACURA (GREENVILLE SC) WAS $2,400. VEHICLE AVAILABLE FOR INSPECTION. DEALER ACKNOWLEDGES THAT ACURA RDX 2013-2015 HAVE THIS DEFECT.
The headlights on my vehicle have been very dim, to the point of being unsafe to drive at night, and especially in inclement weather. Driving at night time in low light conditions the road is barley visible, especially during precipitation. I have replaced the bulbs for both headlights multiple with no improvement to visibility. I have also tried having the headlight lenses cover polished, which also yielded no improvement to visibility. The visibility provided from the headlights was sufficient when I first purchased the vehicle. The visibility issue started with the headlamp bulbs failing many times since my ownership of the vehicle. During the period of time of replacing the bulbs, I started notice a significant reduced visibility while driving in low light conditions. I would constantly check my headlights because I thought I had a headlight bulb out. That was not the case. The light projected from the headlights was very dim. I have contacted the Acura dealership, where I purchased the vehicle as a certified pre-owned. They informed me over the phone that it would cost me a diagnostic fee of approximately 175.00 to trouble shoot the problem. I even started consulting aftermarket vehicle shops. All of the aftermarket shops told me that they couldn't guarantee if replacing the whole headlight assembly would fix the problem, ass it could also be an electrical problem for the low light visibility. I have reached the point to wear driving at night time is just unsafe. I am now in the process of having both headlamps replaced at my own expense, not knowing if this will resolve the problem. Since the inception of this problem, there has been no other indication of an electrical or mechanical problem. This evolving safety issue has only gained my attention from my own driving experiences of having to drive in low light conditions, to which I have yet to find a definitive resolution.
Purchased vehicle around 9/2017 and noted low headlights were not bright. I used high beam more than with other vehicles I have driven. I requested the Acura Service Dept to look at them and they changed the bulbs out. This did not help. I was still using my high beams. I requested again for them to look at the lights and Acura told me I would have to replace. I have been driving with high beams on ever since. Now it is at the point I am going to have to pay over 2,000 that they quoted me to get new headlamps. My vehicle was at 30,000 miles at purchase and now about 90,000. I am at the point I have not drove the car at night in the last few years. I did research and found this issue is common. This is a safety issue for this type of car and a recall should be done! I found your website and now making this complaint.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 ACURA RDX. THE CONTACT NOTICED AN ABNORMAL CLUNKING NOISE IN THE REAR SUSPENSION. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO WALSER ACURA OF WICHITA (10850 E 13TH ST N, WICHITA, KANSAS 67206, 316-341-2288) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE REAR SHOCKS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ANOTHER TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE REAR AND UPPER DAMPERS NEEDED TO BE INSTALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,000.
PUT MY CAR IN PARK IN DRIVEWAY WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING, STEPPED OUT OF MY VEHICLE AND IT STARTED MOVING FORWARD, HITTING THE GARAGE. THE CAR HIT THE GARAGE AND I TRIED TO PUSH IT BACKWARDS, IT MOVED BACKWARD AFTER HITTING THE GARAGE AND STARTED ROLLING AWAY FROM THE GARAGE. MY BABY WAS IN THE CAR, SO I GOT IN THE OPEN DOOR OF THE CAR AND ATTEMPTED TO MOVE THE GEAR SHIFT OUT OF P TOWARDS D, THINKING THIS WOULD HELP STOP THE CAR AS I STEPPED ON THE BRAKE PAD. DURING THIS ENTIRE PERIOD, THE CAR WAS MAKING A GRINDING SOUND, WHICH I ASSUME WAS THE BRAKES. THE CAR FINALLY STOPPED ROLLING AND CAME TO A STOP AS I STEPPED ON THE BRAKE A SECOND TIME. THE DRIVEWAY IS ON A DOWNWARD SLOPE SO THE CAR WAS GAINING MOMENTUM AS IT BOUNCED OFF THE GARAGE. THERE MINOR DAMAGE DONE TO CAR BUT THE GARAGE DOOR WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED SINCE IT IS BADLY DAMAGED.
TAKATA RECALL. I WROTE TO ACURA ASKING FOR IMMEDIATE REPLACEMENT DUE TO POSSIBLE DEATH OR SEVERE INJURY. I RECEIVED A VOICEMAIL MESSAGE. I CALLED BACK AND NEVER HEARD BACK AGAIN. I AM BEING IGNORED. WE SOMETIMES USE THIS CAR TO CARRY A BABY. THERE IS NO ONE DAY THIS HAPPENED ALTHOUGH YOUR WEBSITE REQUIRES SUCH AN ENTRY TO HAVE MAY COMPLAINT ACCEPTED!!!
TAKATA RECALL. THE AIRBAG DEPLOYED WHILE MY RIGHT HAND WAS ON THE 2 O'CLOCK POSITION. I WAS GOING ABOUT 30 MPH ON A CITY STREET, AND HIT A CAR THAT STOPPED SUDDENLY IN FRONT OF ME. IT WAS LIKE A BOMB BLAST ONTO MY WRIST, FORCEFULLY BLASTING OUT ACID AND AIR OR WHATEVER'S IN THAT AIRBAG. I HAVE A TRAUMA INJURY AND CHEMICAL BURNS ON MY WRIST. THERE ARE CHEMICAL BURN HOLES ALL OVER THE DASHBOARD AS WELL. AT FIRST I THOUGHT MY BEADED BRACELET HAD PUNCTURED MY WRIST. ONE BURN LOOKED LIKE A CIGARETTE BURN, AND WITHIN 2 HOURS THE BURN HOLE SKIN TURNED PITCH BLACK. OTHER BLISTERS FORMED AS THE HOURS WENT BY. THE NEXT MORNING (THANKSGIVING) I WENT TO URGENT CARE AND THEY REFERRED ME TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM. THEY SAID IT WAS CHEMICAL BURN INJURIES, WHICH I AM NOW TREATING. IT IS EXTREMELY PAINFUL. I DID FILE AN INSURANCE CLAIM AND THERE IS A POLICE REPORT, BUT THE ACCIDENT WAS ONLY 3 DAYS AGO. I DECLINED MEDICAL ATTENTION AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT, AS I THOUGHT IT WAS ONLY A SIMPLE BRUISE, AND AT THAT TIME DIDN'T REALIZE THAT THE AIRBAG VENT WAS BY MY WRIST, AND THAT I HAD CHEMICAL INJURIES.
WHEN ACCELERATING OR BRAKING, THE CAR LURCHES FORWARD. IT OCCURS WHEN EVEN PRESSURE IS APPLIED AND IS MOST NOTICEABLE WHEN APPLYING BRAKES AND VEHICLE IS AT 1000 RPMS AND AROUND 20MPH. OFTEN THE DRIVER MUST PRESS HARD ON THE BRAKES IN ORDER TO COME TO COMPLETE STOP AND AVOID HITTING VEHICLE IN FRONT. THIS IS A RECURRING ISSUE. BRAKES WERE REPLACED AT 14,000 MILES IN 7/2016 BY DEALERSHIP AND OWNER FEELS BRAKES MAY HAVE PREMATURELY WORN DUE TO THE BRAKING ISSUE.

TAKATA RECALL I SPOKE TO THE DEALERSHIP WHO RECOMMENDED THAT I STAY IN THE VEHICLE AS THERE IS REALLY NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT. THAT THEY ARE JUST BEING CAREFUL HOWEVER THERE IS NO REAL NEED TO STOP DRIVING MY VEHICLE. THEY STATED IF I STILL FEEL UNCOMFORTABLE, THEY WILL ONLY OFFER ALTERNATE TRANSPORTATION BUT NOTHING CLOSE TO THE LEVEL OF AN ACURA. IF I WANT A LUXURY CAR THAT IS COMPARABLE I WILL HAVE TO PAY THE DIFFERENCE MYSELF. I DO HOWEVER HAVE TO CONTINUE TO PAY MY LEASE FOR A CAR THAT I CANNOT DRIVE. ACURA IS PUTTING THE COMPLETE BURDEN ON THEIR CUSTOMERS AND WILL NOT BUDGE, OR PROVIDE ANY ADDITIONAL HELP TO REMEDY THIS UNFORTUNATE SITUATION. I HOPE THAT THERE IS SOMETHING THAT CAN BE DONE IN A SITUATION THAT LEAVES ME WONDERING WHERE THERE IS JUSTICE FOR THE CONSUMER. I HAVE TO PAY FOR THEIR MISTAKE? TAKATA RECALL- PURCHASED A 2015 RDX IN OCTOBER. I ASKED IF THE AIRBAG WAS A TAKATA AND WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS NOT. TODAY, I GOT A SAFETY RECALL TELLING ME THAT I CANNOT DRIVE THE CAR, IT COULD KILL ME. I HAVE ALSO BEEN TOLD THAT THE CAR WILL HAVE TO SIT FOR AT LEAST 4 MONTHS UNTIL THEY CAN GET THE PART TO REPLACE IT, HOWEVER I WILL STILL HAVE TO PAY MY ALMOST 600.00 CAR PAYMENT.

I HAVE READ ABOUT THESE DEFECTIVE AIRBAGS FOR QUITE SOME TIME NOW AND HAVE CHECKED OFTEN TO MAKE SURE MINE WAS NOT ON THE LIST. WHY AM I JUST NOW RECEIVING A NOTICE? WHY AREN'T THE PARTS AVAILABLE? WHY DO I HAVE TO WAIT MONTHS WORRYING ABOUT BEING MANGLED AND/OR KILLED BY THE EQUIPMENT THAT IS SUPPOSED TO HELP KEEP ME AND MY FAMILY/PASSENGERS SAFE? I HAVEN'T CONTACTED THE DEALER YET, BUT I ALREADY FEEL LIKE THE DEALER HAS FAILED AND IS UNABLE TO REMEDY THE DEFECT IN MY VEHICLE WITHIN A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME. I WILL CALL THEM TO SEE WHAT THEIR "PROVISION OF, OR REIMBURSEMENT FOR, TEMPORARY ALTERNATIVE TRANSPORTATION, AS NECESSARY" MEANS AND GET BACK ON HERE WITH THEIR ANSWER.
IT TOOK TAKATA SEVERAL MONTHS BEFORE THEY CONTACTED ACURA ABOUT THE DEFECT. ALL THE OTHER CAR MANUFACTURERS WERE COBTACTED MONTHS AND MONTHS AGO - WE JUST GOT NOTIFIED 2 DAYS AGO. THIS IS WRONG - WE SHOULD HAVE BEEN TOLD MONTHS GO.

TAKATA RECALL I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE TODAY (3/21/2016). THE NOTICE STATES THAT REPAIR KITS WILL BE AVAILABLE IN THE SUMMER OF 2016 --THAT'S AT LEAST A FULL 3 MONTHS FROM NOW. IT IS IRRESPONSIBLE FOR ACURA/HONDA TO EXPECT THAT I SHOULD PUT MY LIFE IN DANGER EVERY TIME I GET IN MY CAR FOR THE NEXT 3 MONTHS DUE TO A DEFECTIVE ISSUE THAT IS ENTIRELY THEIR FAULT. I'M ALSO CONCERNED THAT I WAS NOT NOTIFIED MUCH SOONER OF MY AIRBAG --THIS HAS BEEN IN THE NEWS FOR AT LEAST A YEAR. THIS IS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE AND I WOULD LIKE MY AIRBAG REPLACED ASAP. ACURA SHOULD PAY FOR A RENTAL OR ALTERNATIVE VEHICLE FOR THE MONTHS I/MY FAMILY WILL BE MADE TO ENDURE HAVING A SERIOUS DEFECT IN THE CAR WE USE EVERY DAY.
TAKATA RECALL. ACURA NOTIFIED US THAT OUR ACURA RDX WAS BEING RECALLED FOR AIR BAG REPLACEMENT IN MARCH 2016--SEE ATTACHED PDF OF RECALL LETTER. WE CONTACTED MARIN ACURA, THE DEALER WHICH SOLD US THE CAR, ON THE SAME DAY WE RECEIVED THE LETTER TO MAKE A SERVICE APPOINTMENT FOR THE RECALL/AIRBAG REPLACEMENT. THEY NOTIFIED US THAT THE PARTS WOULD NOT BE AVAILABLE UNTIL "EARLY SUMMER". WE HAVE FOLLOWED UP FREQUENTLY BUT HAVE BEEN CONSISTENTLY TOLD PARTS ARE STILL NOT AVAILABLE WITH NO ESTIMATE OF AVAILABILITY. MARIN ACURA IS GENERALLY RESPONSIVE, FUNNELING ALL CALLS TO ONE SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE WHO IS GENERALLY UNAVAILABLE AND DOES NOT RETURN CALLS. THE RECALL REPAIR HAS NOT BEEN MADE OVER 4 MONTHS LATER, AND NO ASSURANCE OF FUTURE AVAILABILITY OF REPLACEMENT HAS BEEN MADE. WE ARE CONCERNED ABOUT REPORTS OF INJURY OR DEATH RISK, BUT ACURA/MARIN ACURA HAVE TAKEN NO STEPS TO RESOLVE THIS MATTER AND WE ARE LEFT IN LIMBO.

MY 2015 RDX SUNROOF LEAKS RAIN WATER WHILE STATIONARY. THE CAR IS SITTING IN THE DRIVEWAY OF MY HOUSE.
AS I WAS DRIVING DOWN US RTE 95 YESTERDAY, GOING OVER THE BRIDGE INTO PORTSMOUTH, NH AT ~65 MPH, MY SUNROOF SUDDENLY EXPLODED, COVERING ME AND THE INTERIOR OF MY CAR WITH BROKEN GLASS. FORTUNATELY, I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER TO AN EXIT JUST OVER THE BRIDGE AND CALL FOR ASSISTANCE. I THINK I AVOIDED AN ACCIDENT BY VIRTUE OF THERE NOT BEING A LOT OF CARS NEAR ME WHEN THIS HAPPENED. IT WAS A SUNNY DAY, ~50 DEGREES AND MY CAR THERMOSTAT WAS AT 67 DEGREES SO TEMPERATURE DIFFERENTIAL WAS NOT A FACTOR. BOTH THE STATE POLICE OFFICER AND THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER OPINED THAT THE WINDOW BLEW OUT FROM WITHIN. THE OFFICER ALSO CHECKED THE BRIDGE FOR POSSIBLE FALLING DEBRIS THAT MIGHT HAVE HIT THE CAR AND FOUND NO EVIDENCE OF THAT.
TRAVELING ON INTERSTATE AT ABOUT 74 MPH THE MOON ROOF SHATTERED WITHOUT WARNING. THE INSIDE VISOR WAS OPEN AND THE GLASS MOON ROOF WAS CLOSED AT THE TIME. GLASS FRAGMENTS DROPPED ON TOP OF DRIVER AND PASSENGER.

THE CONTACT ALSO STATED WHEN MAKING A LEFT OR RIGHT, THE REAR WHEELS MOVED WHEN DRIVING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE SUSPENSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. I HAVE REPEATED AND ONGOING PROBLEMS WITH BRAND NEW MICHELIN TIRES LOSING TRACTION, ESPECIALLY ON WET ROADS. THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME I HAVE TO PULL OUT ONTO A HIGHWAY. IT ALSO HAPPENS LESS FREQUENTLY ON DRY ROADS. I HAVE SPOKEN WITH THE NEW CAR DEALERSHIP WHERE I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE AND WITH MICHELIN TIRE CUSTOMER SERVICE PEOPLE. THE TIRES ARE THE MICHELIN PRIMACY MXM4 P235/60R/18 ALL-SEASONTIRES. MICHELIN TOLD ME THAT "SLIPPAGE", (WHICH I CALL TRACTION,) IS NOT COVERED BY THEIR WARRANTY. IT IS EXTREMELY DISTURBING TO ME TO SEE A TIRE COMPANY, ESPECIALLY MICHELIN, TO SAY THAT THE TRACTIONS CAPABILITIES OF ONE OF THEIR NEW TIRES IS NOT SOMETHING THEY WILL STAND BEHIND. *TR

THE ALL-WHEEL DRIVE VEHICLE THAT CAME WITH ALL SEASON TIRES, WAS NOT DESIGNED TO KEEP THE WIPERS FROM ICING UP DURING INCLEMENT WEATHER. THE OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE DROPPED TO 26 DEGREES, AND THE DEFROST SYSTEM COULD NOT KEEP ICE FROM FORMING ON THE WIPER BLADES, CAUSING A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. ACURA HAS OTHER VEHICLES THAT HAVE A SAFETY SYSTEM TO KEEP ICE OFF THE WIPER BLADES, SO IT IS OBVIOUS THEIR ENGINEERS ARE AWARE OF THE PROBABILITY OF ICE ON WIPER BLADES. *TR
2015 ACURA RDX THE ACCELERATION IS VERY TOUCHY IN THAT SLIGHT ACCELERATOR PRESSURE GENERATES AN UNEXPECTED INCREASE IN SPEED. THE VEHICLE ALSO TENDS TO HESITATE WHEN ACCELERATING WHILE THE TRANSMISSION IS SIMULTANEOUSLY SHIFTING GEARS. *MW ALSO, WHEN BRAKING AND APPLYING SLIGHT YET CONSTANT PRESSURE TO THE BRAKE, THE BRAKES OFTEN GRABBED MORE ABRUPTLY. WHEN COASTING/SLOWING DOWN, THE TRANSMISSION HAD A NOTICEABLE DECELERATION WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS DOWN SHIFTING. THE FEEL WAS SIMILAR TO DOWN SHIFTING OF A MANUAL TRANSMISSION. IT WAS MORE NOTICEABLE AT 20-30 MPH. THE ISSUES OCCURRED WHEN DRIVING IN HEAVY/CONGESTED TRAFFIC. *JB
