TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 ACURA TL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE DASHBOARD BEGAN TO DETERIORATE AROUND THE AIR BAG. IN ADDITION, THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 ACURA TL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A MECHANIC FOR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE AND HE WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS A TRANSMISSION LEAK ON BOTH SIDES OF THE MOUNT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO INSPECTED THE FAILURE AND ADVISED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000. UPDATED 04/30/13*LJ THE DEALER DISCOVERED THE LEAK WAS COMING FROM BOTH SIDE OF THE DIFFERENTIAL AND THE AXLE WAS LOOSE. UPDATED 05/20/13
THE ENTIRE DASH OF MY ACURA HAS CRACKED AND THE CRACKS ARE EVERYWHERE. OVER THE AIR BAGS, NEAR THE AIR BAGS....EVERYWHERE!! WHAT IS GOING ON!? *TR
CRACK ON DASHBOARD ON PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG. THERE HAS BEEN NO ACCIDENT. DEALER WILL NOT FIX IT AS THERE IS NO WARRANTY LEFT. *TR
WHILE ON A HILL TO MAKE A LEFT TURN A SUPERMARKET THE TRANSMISSION STARTED TO MAKE A LOUD NOISE AND THE CAR STARTED ROLLING BACKWARD WITH THE SHIFTER IN DRIVE IN DRIVE MODE. AT THAT MOVEMENT THE ENGINE STALLED AND IT WAS DIFFICULT FOR THE CAR BRAKES TO BE APPLIED AND IN REVERSE THE CAR CRASHED INTO A HYDRAULIC LIFT GATE CAUSING MAJOR DAMAGE AND THE INSURANCE COMPANY DECLARED A TOTAL LOSS. THE POLICE OFFICER ARRIVED TO INVESTIGATE AND TRY TO PUT THE SHIFTER INTO PARK AND IT WAS VERY DIFFICULT. THE POLICE OFFICER DECLARED THAT THE CAR HAD A MECHANICAL FAILURE AND IT CAUSED THE ACCIDENT. NOTE, THIS TRANSMISSION WAS INSTALLED BY ACURA LAST YEAR WITH ABOUT 15,000 MILES DRIVEN AND FAILED. *TR
MY DASHBOARD HAS DEVELOPED SEVERAL CRACKS. I FEEL THAT IS UNSAFE SINCE IT HAS A CRACK ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OVER THE AIR BAG. ACURA NEEDS TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT . CAUSE IT'S SEVERAL ACURA TL WITH THE SAME PROBLEM NOT JUST MINE. I'M A VERY UPSET OWNER. A GREAT ENGINE BUT LOW QUALITY INTERIOR SINCE MY SEATS HAVE ALSO TORN. *TR
GOT INTO MY CAR AND NOTICED MY DASHBOARD CRACKED IN TWO PLACES!! THIS IS WRONG!! ACURA SHOULD TAKE ACCOUNTABILITY FOR THIS!!! *TR
MY DASHBOARD HAS A CRACK AROUND THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIRBAG. THE CAR HAS NEVER BEEN HIT OR WRECKED. THIS CRACK JUST APPEARED AND THE CHECK AIRBAG INDICATOR IS ON. I'VE BEEN READING ON THE INTERNET THAT MANY MANY OTHER OWNERS OF THIS CAR ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. I'M AFRAID THE AIRBAG WILL DEPLOY WITHOUT CAUSE. PLEASE CHECK INTO THIS AND LET ME KNOW IF THERE IS A CAUSE FOR A RECALL ON THIS CAR. THANKS. *TR
SMALL CRACK STARTED AT CENTER OF DASHBOARD NEAR THE WINDOW. IN 1 DAY IT HAS WRAPPED ALMOST COMPLETELY AROUND THE DRIVERS SIDE OF THE DASHBOARD AND IS NEARLY 2 FEET LONG NOW. MY 1989 HONDA ACCORD HAD A BETTER LOOKING DASH AFTER 23 YEARS. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE AND NEEDS FIXED ASAP BY ACURA. *TR
MULTIPLE CRACKS ON DASH BEGAN ON PASSENGER SIDE. NEW CRACKS DEVELOPED OVER SPEEDOMETER. POOR DESIGN OF STRUCTURAL DASH SUPPORT IS CAUSING DASH TO FALL APART. UNKNOWN IF THIS WILL COMPROMISE AIRBAG FUNCTION. ONE OWNER CAR HAS BEEN GARAGED AT HOME AND OFTEN PARKED UNDER COVER AT WORK - THIS IS NOT SUN DAMAGE. ACURA WILL NOT PAY FOR REPLACEMENT. *TR
WIFE MADE ME AWARE THAT A CRACK APPREARED ON THE DASH ATTER TAKING DOWN THE SUN SHADE TO COME HOME AFTER WORK. IT WAS ABOUT A FOUR INCH CRACK ON TOP OF THE LEFT EDGE OF WHERE THE AIR BAG DEPLOYS. I WAS SOMEWHAT CONCERNED BECAUSE F THE LOCATION. I RODE ON THE CAR AGAIN THIS AFTERNOON AND NOT ONLY HAS THE ORIGINAL CRACK DOUBLED IN SIZE THERE IS ANOTHER ONE ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT. BOTH CRACKS ARE ON THE EDGE OF THE AIR BAG "BOX" NOW I AM VERY CONCERNED AND I GET ONLY LINE TO SEE HOW TO EITHER REPAIR OR REPLACE THIS DASH. AFTER SEARCHING I SEE THAT THERE ARE ALOT OF COMPLAINTS WITH THIS SAME ISSUE. IT SEEMS ACURA HAS A PROBLEM WITH THE MATERIAL USED TO COVER THE DASH. THEY NEED TO STEP UP AND REPLACE THESE DASH BOARDS. *TR
DASH BOARD PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAGS AREA AND DRIVER SIDE 2 SPEAKER CRACKED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 ACURA TL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT A LARGE CRACK DEVELOPED ON THE DASH BOARD. AS A RESULT, THE AIR BAG BECAME EXPOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE WHO DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 98,000.
WHILE DRIVING WE HEARD A LOUD POP THAT SOUNDED LIKE A VERY LARGE ROCK HIT THE WINDSHIELD. WHILE INSPECTING THE WINDSHIELD WE NOTICED THAT THE NOISE HAD COME FROM THE DASHBOARD SPLITTING. THE AREA COVERING THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG HAS SPLIT AND THE ENTIRE DASH, WITHING JUST A FEW DAYS, HAS SPLIT FROM THE INITIAL 4 INCH SPLIT TO ABOUT 8 INCHES. I AM CONCERNED THAT THIS COULD AFFECT AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT AS THE DECREASED RESISTANCE COULD MEAN THE AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT SPEED IS GREATER. (WORTH NOTING: WE PURCHASED THIS CAR NEW AND IT HAS BEEN GARAGE KEPT ITS ENTIRE LIFE. ALSO, WHEN THE CAR IS IN THE SUN I ALWAYS USE A SUNSHIELD.) *TR
FROM LAST 3-4 YEARS THE DASHBOARD IS GETTING CRACKS AND THE CRACK LINES ARE OVERLAPPING AIR BAGS PATH. FOR LAST 2 MONTHS THE AIR BAG LIGHTS ARE ON RANDOMLY.
I GOT IN MY CAR YESTERDAY AFTER WORK, TO FIND A CRACK OVER 6 INCHES LONG ON THE PASSENGER SIDE DASHBOARD, NEAR WHERE THE AIRBAG WOULD BE LOCATED. APPARENTLY THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM. MOST ARE REPORTING MORE CRACKS APPEARING AND THE CRACKS GROWING LONGER IN SIZE. I ASSUME MY DASH WILL DO THE SAME AS EVERYONE ELSE'S AND BECOME WORSE. I BELIEVE IT IS TEMPERATURE/HEAT RELATED (EXPANSION/CONTRACTION) BUT IS NO FAULT OF MY OWN. CAN YOU SAY RECALL!!! *TR

I NOTICED A LARGE CRACK ON MY DASHBOARD IN FRONT OF THE PASSENGER SEAT AND IT APPEARS TO OUTLINE THE AIRBAG. THERE ARE TWO SMALL CRACKS ON THE DASH AS WELL. MY CONCERN IS WHETHER OR NOT THESE CRACKS MAKE THE DEPLOYMENT OF MY AIRBAGS DEFECTIVE IN THE EVENT OF A COLLISION. *TR
ONE DAY I GOT IN THE CAR AND NOTICED A CRACK ON THE DASHBOARD ALONG THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG. SINCE THEN IT IS BEGINNING TO SPREAD. *TR
MY 2004 ACURA TL HAS A FEW LARGE CRACKS ON THA DASH/INSTRUMENT PANEL. I AM THE SECOND OWNER THAT HAS BEEN GARAGE KEPT AND VERY WELL MAINTAINED. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND THAT A LUXURY CAR WOULD HAVE SUCH A DEFECT THAT MAY PRODUCE SERIOUS INJURIES ON OUR CHILDREN OR SPOUSES. DASH SEPARATING AROUND PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG. *TR
LARGE CRACK IN THE DASH ON PASSENGER SIDE ABOVE AIRBAG. IT GETS BIGGER EVERY DAY ESPECIALLY WHEN I TURN THE AC ON AFTER THE DASH HAS BEEN HOT FROM PARKING IN THE SUN. THE CAR IS GARAGE KEPT AND NOT IN THE HEAT VERY MUCH. *TR
FIRST, I NOTICED THE LIGHT INDICATING THE FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG WAS OFF, EVEN THOUGH MY ADULT MALE FRIEND WAS IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. LATER THAT DAY, I NOTICED A CRACK, APPROXIMATELY 2 INCHES LONG. TWO DAYS LATER, THE CRACK WAS APPROXIMATELY 6 INCHES LONG, AND RAN ALONG THE ENTIRE RIGHT EDGE OF THE PASSENGER AIRBAG COMPARTMENT. SINCE THE FIRST TIME I NOTICED THE AIRBAG LIGHT, IT HAS BEEN INCONSISTENTLY RESPONDING TO THE SAME ADULT MALE PASSENGER BY ACTIVATING/DEACTIVATING THE AIRBAG. *JS
DASH BOARD IS CRACKING AROUND AIRBAG ON RIGHT SIDE AND DIRECTLY BEHIND STEERING WHEEL. *TR
CRACKING IN THE DASHBOARD ON TOP OF THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG. ALSO AIRBAG MAINTENANCE LIGHT CAME ON WHEN THE CRACK APPEARED. AFRAID THAT IT IS CAUSING A SAFETY DEFECT. *TR
I PURCHASED MY 2004 ACURA TL 3.2L IN AUGUST 2009. WHEN I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IT HAD NO MARKS ON THE DASH. ABOUT A YEAR AFTER PURCHASE I STARTED TO NOTICE A CRACK ON THE DRIVERS SIDE ABOUT TWO INCHES LONG. I THOUGHT I MIGHT'VE SCRATCHED IT WITH MY RING. AS TIME PAST, THAT SMALL CRACK BECAME VIRAL. STRETCHES ALL OVER MY DASH. THE SCARIEST PART IS THAT THE CRACK IS RUNNING A PERFECT RECTANGLE AND SHOWS A SMALL INDENT WHERE THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG IS. NOW MY AIRBAG LIGHT GOES ON AND STAYS ON OCCASIONALLY. I LOVE MY CAR AND REALLY HATE TO LOOK AT MY CRACKS ON MY DASH THAT SOMEWHAT RESEMBLES A SPIDERWEB. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE HAVING A PASSENGER BC WHO KNOW WHEN THAT MAY BURST (IF POSSIBLE). I FEEL ACURA SHOULD RECALL THESE CARS BC WE PAID FOR A DURABLE, SAFE, AND LUXURY CAR. THIS APPEARS TO BE A COMMON ERROR WITH THIS MAKE, YEAR AND MODEL. MY CAR STILL RUNS BEAUTIFULLY AND HATE TO SEE HER GO DOWN LIKE THIS.
THE DASHBOARD IN MY 2004 ACURA TL IS CRACKED ON THE PASSENGER SIDE ALONG THE AIRBAG. STARTED OUT JUST A CRACK ABOUT 1/4" AND TWO DAYS LATER THE CRACK IS OVER 8 INCHES. ALSO THE DASHBOARD ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE CRACKED FIRST FROM JUST IN FRONT OF THE STEERING COLUMN ALL THE WAY TO THE WINDSHIELD AND IS NOW A COMPLETE SQUARE FROM STEERING COLUMN TO WINDSHIELD AND BACK TO STEERING COLUMN. IF THIS ISN'T A SAFETY ISSUE, I DON'T KNOW WHAT IS! WE OWN TWO OTHER HONDAS, 2001 AND 2000 CIVICS,AND NEITHER OF THOSE CARS HAVE CRACKS AND ARE IN BETTER SHAPE THAN THE ACURA TL. *TR
DASH/AIRBAG ISSUES. 2004 ACURA TL 3.2 HAD A CRACK ON THE DASHBOARD WHICH THE AIRBAG IS UNDERNEATH, THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN IF THE AIRBAGS WOULD BE DEPLOYED CORRECTLY. MORE CRACKS APPEAR SEVERAL DAYS LATER, THE CAR IS WELL PAMPERED, BUT THIS IS A DEFECTIVE MATERIAL ON HONDA/ACURA'S PART. NEED TO BE RECALLED! *TR
MY WIFE DRIVES THE CAR ON A REGULAR BASIS. ON 5/21/12 SHE ADVISED A CRACK @ 2" HAD DEVELOPED ON THE PASSENGER SIDE DASH OVER THE AIR BAG. ON 5/22/12 THE CRACK HAD ENLARGED AND IS NOW @ 4" LONG. *TT
THE VEHICLE IS A 2004 ACURA TL. IT IS MAINLY GARAGED KEPT AND WELL MAINTAINED. IT HAS DEVELOPED A LARGE CRACK IN THE DASHBOARD RUNNING FROM THE WINDSHIELD TOWARDS THE PASSENGER SEAT. IT APPEARED ONE DAY FOR NO APPARENT REASON. THE CAR HAS NOT BEEN IN ANY ACCIDENT. THERE IS AN EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THE CAR BUT THEY WON'T COVER THIS. IN MY OPINION, THIS IS DUE TO INFERIOR MATERIALS AND/OR DESIGN AND SHOULD BE REPAIRED BY THE MANUFACTURER. WHAT HAPPENS IF THERE IS AN ACCIDENT AND THE AIR BAG DEPLOYS...WILL THE CRACKED DASH PREVENT THE AIR BAG FROM DEPLOYING PROPERLY? OR WILL THERE BE PIECES OF THE DASHBOARD ACTING AS LITTLE MISSILES POSING A THREAT TO THE OCCUPANTS? *TT
MY 2004 ACURA DASHBOARD CRACKED IN SEVERAL PLACES. IT IS A KNOWN 2004- 2005 TL ISSUE BUT THERE IS NO RECALL. *TR
I NOTICED A COUPLE OF CRACKS ON MY DASH. SINCE I NOTICED THEM THERE HAD BECOME ADDITIONAL CRACKS. AFTER DOING RESEARCH I DISCOVERED THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM FOR THIS MAKE AND MODEL AND THE CRACKS OCCUR IN THE SAME SPOTS. THE BIGGEST CONCERN IF THE CRACK OVER THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG. *TR
SINCE ALL HEADLIGHTS HAVE BEEN REDESIGNED TO HAVE PLASTIC COVERS RATHER THAN GLASS, THE AMOUNT OF LIGHT AVAILABLE FOR LIGHTING THE ROAD HAS DIMINISHED WITH TIME AS THE PLASTIC AGES. I HAVE SEEN SOME VEHICLES WHERE THE HEADLIGHT COVERS ARE TOTALLY OPAQUE. IF ANY VEHICLE HAS DIMINISHED LUMINOUS FROM ITS LIGHTS, IT IS A HAZARD TO ALL OTHER VEHICLES AND PEDESTRIANS. RECALLS SHOULD BE SENT TO ALL MANUFACTURERS. *JS
DASHBOARD IS CRACKING ON ITS OWN, NOT DUE TO NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. CRACKS ARE OVER THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG AND OTHER PARTS OF DASHBOARD. *TR
THERE IS A WATER LEAK UNDER THE RIGHT REAR PASSENGER SEAT THAT HAS CAUSED THE BOTTOM OF THE SEAT CUSHION TO BE COVERED IN MOLD. THE WATER LEAK IS A KNOWN CONDITION WITH THE '04 TL THAT ACURA HAS DOCUMENTED IN THEIR APRIL 2005 SERVICE NEWS. ACURA HAS BEEN AWARE OF THE ISSUE FOR AT LEAST 7 YEARS AND HAS DONE NOTHING PROACTIVE TO CORRECT IT EVEN THOUGH IT'S A SIMPLE FIX. I'M CONFIDENT THAT THE LONG TERM EXPOSURE TO THE MOLD HAS CAUSED ME THE SINUS AND LUNG/ASTHMA PROBLEMS THAT HAVE BEEN PLAGUING ME FOR THE LAST FEW YEARS AND THAT BEGAN SHORTLY AFTER I PURCHASED THE CAR AND NEVER CONNECTED TO THE CAR EVEN THOUGH I HAVE UNDERGONE A VARIETY OF TESTING FROM DIFFERENT DOCTORS. *JS
THE DASHBOARD CRACKED IN 3 PLACES. IT APPEARED TO ALMOST HAPPEN OVERNIGHT IT WAS SO QUICK. THE CAR HAS ALWAYS BEEN GARAGED OR PARKED UNDER A COVER AT WORK. IT ONLY GETS DIRECT SUNLIGHT WHILE DRIVING AND THE OCCASIONAL STORE PARKING LOT. AT THIS WRITING THE NUMBER OF CRACKS IS NOW 6. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 ACURA TL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT A CRACK WAS PRESENT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE PORTION OF THE DASHBOARD. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE CRACK WAS GETTING WORSE WITH TIME. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 102,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 103,500.
I RECENTLY NOTICED TWO LARGE CRACKS THAT APPEARED IN THE DASHBOARD ON THE PASSENGER SIDE ABOVE WHAT I BELIEVE TO BE THE AIRBAG COMPARTMENT. ONE DAY THEY WERE JUST THERE AND WERE NOT THE RESULT OF AN ACCIDENT. I HAVE NOT TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, AS THERE IS MORE THAN ENOUGH WRITTEN ABOUT THIS PROBLEM TO KNOW WHAT THE ANSWER WILL BE. THIS APPEARS TO BE CAUSED BY INFERIOR MATERIALS AND POOR ENGINEERING USED IN A HIGH END VEHICLE. IT'S EMBARRASSING FOR ACURA TO SAY THE LEAST. I HAVE A 1989 TOYOTA SUPRA AND THE DASH IS IN PERFECT CONDITION, SO I DON'T WANT TO HEAR "NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR", THAT'S BULL. ACURA NEEDS TO STEP UP TO THE PLATE AND BE ACCOUNTABLE. AS OTHERS HAVE STATED, THERE COULD ALSO BE LINKS TO AIR BAG FAILURE OR PRE-MATURE DEPLOYMENT, WHICH WOULD BE A MUCH MORE SERIOUS ISSUE. WE PAY A SIGNIFICANT PRICE FROM OUR HARD EARNED DOLLARS FOR THESE UPSCALE VEHICLES. WE SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR ACURA'S CHOICE TO USE CHEAP MATERIAL AND POOR DESIGNS. NOW IS THE TIME FOR THE CONSUMER PROTECTION INDUSTRY TO STEP IN AND TAKE ACTION SINCE THE INDIVIDUAL IS LEFT TO THE MERCY OF THE MANUFACTURER. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE DASH COVER FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 50,000.
REAR ENDED A VEHICLE GOING 50MPH, DRIVER AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY. PASSENGER AIRBAG DEPLOYED
THE DASHBOARD IS SPIDERWEBBING WITH CRACKS, ESPECIALLY AROUND THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG. *TR

THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED THAT THE FAILURE WOULD ALLOW THE AIR BAG TO DEPLOY INADVERTENTLY AND WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE DASHBOARD NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 98,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 123,000.
I HAVE A 2004 ACURA TL DASH THAT HAS VERY LARGE CRACKS OVER THE PASSENGER AIRBAG AND IS CRACKED IN 3 MORE PLACES OVER THE DRIVERS STEERING COLUMN. THIS SEEMS TO BE A VERY COMMON PROBLEM THAT MANY 2004 ACURA OWNERS ARE FACING. ACURA CUSTOMER RELATIONS SAYS TO SEE THE DEALER FOR A RESOLUTION AND FROM WHAT I'M READING ONLINE IT SEEMS THAT THE DEALER WANTS NO PART IN FIXING OR WARRANTING THIS PART. I WILL INVESTIGATE THIS ISSUE AND REPORT BACK TO ACURA TO SEE IF THEY WILL COVER THIS 2000 DOLLAR PART THAT SHOULD BE RECALLED ON THAT MODEL YEAR. ACURA SHOULD DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS. ACCEPTING RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS KNOWN ISSUE WOULD BE A GOOD PLACE TO START. *TR
THERE IS A DEFECT IN THE MAGNA DONNELLY REAR VIEW MIRRORS IN MOST ACURA CARS. I HAD A 2001 CL AND THE REAR VIEW MIRROR EXPLODED AND MELTED THE CONSOLE. THANK GOD I WAS NOT IN THE CAR AT THE TIME. NOW I HAVE JUST BOUGHT A 2004 ACURA TL AND THE MIRROR HAD ALREADY EXPLODED AND MADE MELT MARKS ON THE CONSOLE. THESE MIRRORS ARE DEFECTIVE AND DANGEROUS. HOW COME ACURA CAN STILL PUT THEM IN THEIR CARS? HOW COME MAGNA DONNELLY IS STILL MAKING THEM AND NOONE HAS SUED THEM? WE NEED A CLASS ACTION SUIT FOR THIS ASAP! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 ACURA TL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT A LARGE FRACTURE, THE SIZE OF AN AIRBAG, WAS PRESENT ON THE DASHBOARD ON THE PASSENGER'S SIDE. IN ADDITION, THERE WAS A LONG FRACTURE UP THE MIDDLE OF THE DASHBOARD ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THEY INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE DASHBOARD AND AIRBAG MAY POSSIBLY NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND THEY OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 99,500.
DURING THE MONTH OF DECEMBER 2012, I NOTICED THAT MY DASHBOARD ON THE ABOVE THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG STARTED TO SPLIT. THE CAR WAS NOT IN ANY ACCIDENT, AND I AM THE ONLY INDIVIDUAL WHO OPERATES THE VEHICLE. AS OF THIS DATE, ONE SPLIT HAVE TURNED INTO TWO LARGE SPLITS ON THE PASSENGER SIDE THAT MEASURE AT ABOUT A FOOT EACH. ADDITIONALLY, I HAVE NOTICED A SMALLER SPLIT IN THE DASHBOARD NOW ABOVE THE DRIVER SIDE. I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO AN ACURA DEALER ON 11/10/2012 (ACURA OF MANHATTAN) FOR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE AND TO ALSO INQUIRE ABOUT WHAT ACURA IS DOING TO FIX THE ISSUE AND REPLACE MY DASHBOARD AT NO COST TO ME DUE TO THE DESIGN DEFECT IN THEIR PRODUCT. I DO NOT WANT TO WAIT UNTIL THE AIRBAG DEPLOYS AND DOES PHYSICAL DAMAGE TO MY PASSENGER OR MYSELF BECAUSE ACURA WAS NEGLIGENT IN THEIR DUTY TO ENSURE THAT THEY MANUFACTURED A PART THAT WOULD NOT FAIL AND CAUSE INJURY TO PASSENGERS OF THEIR VEHICLES. THIS DASHBOARD NEEDS TO BE RECALLED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 ACURA TL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DASHBOARD FAILED AND SPLIT IN HALF NEAR THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG HOUSING. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE DASHBOARD FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY WEAR AND TEAR AND WAS NOT CONSIDERED A SAFETY DEFECT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THIS SHOULD RAISE THE QUESTION OF AIRBAG INTEGRITY AND FUNCTION. SUCH A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM SHOULD BE CONSIDERED A MANUFACTURER'S DEFECT AND THEREFORE BE RECALLED AND REPAIRED BY ACURA.
THE DASHBOARD OF MY CAR STARTED CRACKING AROUND NOVEMBER OF 2011, IT IS NOW COMPLETELY COVERED IN LARGE CRACKS, INCLUDING ONE RIGHT OVER THE CENTER OF THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG. MY MAIN CONCERN IS THE FACT THAT THE DASH IS OBVIOUSLY NOT STRUCTURALLY SOUND, THEREFORE IN THE EVENT THAT THE PASSENGER AIRBAG DEPLOYS PIECES OF DASH WILL BECOME SHARP PROJECTILES FLYING THROUGH THE CAR. *TR
MY 2004 ACURA TL STARTED TO HAVE MINOR CRACKS ON THE DASHBOARD LAST NOVEMBER AND THEN IT SLOWLY SPREAD ALL OVER THE DASHBOARD. I NOW HAVE MULTIPLE LONG CRACKS ON MY DASHBOARD. I HAVE DONE SOME RESEARCH ONLINE AND THERE ARE MANY ACURA TL (2004 & 2005 MODEL) OWNERS WHO HAS ENCOUNTERED THE SAME ISSUE AS WELL. I HAVE OTHER VEHICLES THAT ARE OLDER THAN THE ACURA TL AND THOSE VEHICLES DASHBOARDS ARE COMPLETELY FINE. I BELIEVE IT IS A DEFECT IN THE MATERIAL AND ACURA SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR REPLACING THIS PART. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING MY CARE IN THIS MANNER DUE TO THE FACT THAT IT MIGHT IMPACT THE AIR BAGS OR MAY NOT DEPLOY THE AIR BAGS IN CASE OF EMERGENCY.
