I BEGAN TO NOTICE A RATTLE IN THE RIGHT FRONT WHEN GOING OVER A BUMP. IT SEEMED TO COME FROM THE SUSPENSION. AT THE SAME TIME I NOTICED A SLIGHT THUMP IN THE STEERING WHEN STATIONARY AND SLIGHTLY TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE RIGHT. AS THE RATTLE WAS GETTING WORSE, I TOOK THE CAR IN TO GET IT CHECKED. THE PROBLEM WAS THAT THE STEERING RACK HAD LOOSENED AT ONE END. IT WAS TORQUED DOWN AND LOCK-TIGHT PUT ON THE BOLT. I AM FEARFUL OF WHAT MIGHT HAVE HAPPENED HAD THE RACK FAILED ENTIRELY. I HAVE APPROXIMATELY 27,000 MILES ON CAR. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE AIRBAG LIGHT FLASHED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP WHO DETERMINED WATER ENTERED INTO THE AIRBAG CONTACTS LOCATED UNDER THE CUP HOLDER. TO REMEDY THE PROBLEM THE CONTACTS WERE CLEANED.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE USING THE JACK ON LEVEL GROUND IT BENT CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO FALL. THE DEALERSHIP HAS NOT BEEN ALERTED.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 AUDI A4. THE CONTACT TOOK HER VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE AND A RECALL REPAIR WAS PERFORMED FOR THE FUEL PUMP. TWO YEARS LATER, WHILE DRIVING LESS THAN 50 MPH, SHE HEARD A LOUD WINDING NOISE FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE FUEL PUMP AND REAR WINDOW REGULATOR CABLE FAILED. THE REPAIRS WERE MADE AT THE COST OF $1,458.33. LATER, THROUGH ONLINE RESEARCH, THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE RECALL REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED IN 2006 AND THEY WOULD NOT COVER A SECOND REPAIR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE WAS NEVER INFORMED OF THE REPAIR FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 06V017000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:DELIVERY:FUEL PUMP). THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE LESS THAN 52,000.
I AM HAVING ONGOING MAJOR ISSUES (EQUIPMENT AND SAFETY) WITH MY AUDI A4 CABRIOLET WITH NO RESOLUTION FROM MY LOCAL DEALER OR AUDI CUSTOMER CARE AGENTS. I HAVE HAD MY CAR TOWED THREE TIMES IN THREE MONTHS. MOST RECENTLY(JULY 21) MY CAR WAS UNDRIVEABLE, LEAVING ME STRANDED 2.5 HOURS FROM HOME. THE ENGINE STARTED TO "SKIP" AND "MISS" THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STARTED FLASHING AND THE CHECK OIL INDICATOR CAME ON. I MANAGED TO GET OFF THE HIGHWAY INTO A PARKING LOT. THE PERSON WITH ME CAN VERIFY THAT THE ENGINE/CAR FELT LIKE IT WAS BOUNCING OR VIBRATING. PRIOR TO THAT, MY CAR STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF INTERSTATE 264 IN NORFOLK, VA. IT WAS A NEAR DEATH EXPERIENCE TRYING TO GET OUT OF THE MIDDLE OF THAT HIGHWAY. THE CAR STALLED WHEN I WAS LEAVING WORK. I DECIDED TO TRY TO MAKE IT HOME ONCE IT RESTARTED. ONCE I STARTED TO ACCELERATE ONTO THE INTERSTATE, THE CAR WOULD SPORADICALLY ACCELERATE. IT FELT LIKE A "STOP AND GO" SITUATION. IT PROGRESSIVELY GOT WORSE OVER A DISTANCE OF ABOUT 300 YARDS, FINALLY STALLING. THE DEALER SAID THEY COULD NO REPLICATE THE PROBLEM. AUDI REFUSED ANY FURTHER ACTION ON MY CAR AFTER REPEATED REQUESTS. THE FIRST TIME MY CAR WAS TOWED WAS FROM MY OWN LOCAL STREET: THE SAFEST PLACE OF THREE LOCATIONS WHERE I'VE BEEN TOWED. THE DEALER MAINTAINS THEY CAN NOT FIND A PROBLEM FOR THE SECOND AND THIRD TOWS. I FEAR FOR MY OWN SAFETY TO RIDE IN THIS AUDI CAR. FAMILY MEMBERS NOW REFUSE TO RIDE IN THIS PRODUCT. FRIENDS AND CO-WORKERS HAVE WITNESSED THE PROBLEMS FIRST HAND AS WELL. I HAVE MADE REPEATED REQUESTS TO AUDIO CUSTOMER CARE TO: 1. GET THE CAR REPAIRED PROPERLY 2. REPLACE THE ENGINE 3. EXTEND THE WARRANTY 4. OFFER A REASONABLE TRADE-IN 5. BUY BACK THE CAR I HAVE BEEN REJECTED ALL ALONG THE WAY. I AM AGAIN BEGGING AND PLEADING FOR SOMEONE AT AUDI TO OFFER REASONABLE HELP HERE. I'M NOT ASKING FOR MUCH. I'M SIMPLY ASKING FOR A CAR THAT RUNS TO ANY ACCEPTABLE STANDARDS WHERE I CAN BELIEVE I AM SAFE. PLEASE HELP. *NM
2004 AUDI A4 3.0 CABRIOLET DOES NOT MOVE WHEN SHIFTED INTO GEAR. *TS ***NAR***
MY CAR INTERMITTENTLY DOES NOT MOVE WHEN THE VEHICLE IS PUT IN DRIVE. THIS HAS ONLY HAPPENED SO FAR WHEN THE ENGINE IS COLD. IT HAPPENED TO ME YESTERDAY AS I WAS TRYING TO PULL OUT INTO AN INTERSECTION AND THE CAR BEHIND ME ALMOST HIT ME BECAUSE IT LOOKED LIKE I SHOULD BE MOVING. I HAVE A CVT TRANSMISSION.
I OWE A 2004 AUDI A4 CONVERTIBLE. IN LATE FEBRUARY OF 06, I STARTED TO EXPERIENCE PROBLEMS WHEN I PUT THE GEAR ON D (DRIVE) OR R (REVERSE) AND GAVE GAS; THE CAR DID NOT MOVE AT ALL. DASH BOARD INSTRUMENT WAS NOT RESPONSIVE EITHER. INITIALLY I THOUGHT THIS WAS DUE TO COLD WEATHER. ON MARCH 13, 06, I WAS RUNNING ERRANDS IN A VERY BUSY AREA OF NORTHERN VIRGINIA. THE CAR WAS WARM AS IT HAS BEEN RUNNING FOR A COUPLE OF HOURS. I APPROACHED A BUSY INTERSECTION TO MAKE A LEFT TURN. WHEN THE ROAD WAS CLEARED, I ATTEMPTED TO MOVE FORWARD BUT THE CAR WAS TOTALLY FROZEN - IT WOULD NOT MOVE REGARDLESS OF HOW MUCH I PUSHED THE GAS PEDAL. I WAS NOW FACING THE ONCOMING TRAFFIC OF THREE CARS BLOWING THEIR HORNS LIKE CRAZY. I JUST COULD NOT MOVE THE CAR AND WAS TERRIFIED THAT I WOULD BE HIT BY THE ONCOMING TRAFFIC. THE ONCOMING TRAFFIC CAME TO AN ABRUPT STOP AND AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS I WAS ABLE TO MOVE THE CAR. I WAS VERY SCARED AND CALLED THE AUDI OF TYSONS CORNER (HBL) IN VIENNA, VIRGINIA IMMEDIATELY AND TOOK THE CAR IN THAT DAY. THE NEXT DAY (3/14) AFTERNOON, I RECEIVED A CALL FROM THE SERVICE ADVISOR INDICATING THAT THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND THAT NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH MY CAR. I INSISTED THAT THEY RECHECK AS I EXPERIENCED THE PROBLEM SEVERAL TIMES AND THAT THE LAST INCIDENT WAS COULD HAVE BEEN FATAL AS I WAS STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION. THEY AGREED AND KEPT THE CAR FOR ANOTHER DAY; HOWEVER, THE NEXT DAY THEY CALLED AND SAID THE SAME THING - NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR. I PICKED THE CAR ON MARCH 16, 06. WHILE WAITING IN THE LOBBY, I SAW ANOTHER AUDI A4 CONVERTIBLE DRIVER. I APPROACHED HER ABOUT MY EXPERIENCE AND ASKED IF SHE EXPERIENCED THE SAME OR SIMILAR PROBLEMS. SHE SAID YES AND THAT IS WHY SHE BROUGHT HER CAR IN ALONG WITH A REGULAR SERVICE CHECK. SHE RECEIVED THE SAME FEEDBACK FROM THE AUDI OF TYSONS - NOTHING WRONG WITH HER CAR EITHER. I HAVE THE NAME, PHONE NUMBER, ETC., OF THE OTHER DRIVER IF NEEDED. *JB
BUBBLES IN PIRELLI P6 ALL SEASON TIRES AFTER 6000 MILES OF USE, NORMAL DRIVING. *JB
AUDI JACK CAME WITH MY 2004 AUDI A4 QUATTRO SEDAN BROKE WHILE PUTTING A WHEEL. I WAS IN THE PARKING LOT SO THE SURFACE IS FLAT. I USE THE USE THE JACK THAT CAME WITH MY CAR TO JACK UP THE CAR SO THAT I CAN REPLACE MY WHEEL. THE JACK BROKE AS I WAS PUTTING ON THE WHEEL TRYING TO ALIGN THE HOLES TO PUT BACK THE BOLTS. THE JACK JUST SNAPPED LUCKILY MY FINGERS AND HAND DID NOT GET CAUGHT AND I WAS NOT UNDER THE CAR. THE JACK WAS BROKE TODAY AUGUST 5, 2005 AT AROUND 4:00PM PACIFIC TIME. I GOT TO THE DEALERSHIP 10 MINUTES TO 5:00PM AND THE SERVICE REP TOLD ME THAT ALL THE TECHNICIAN HAVE GONE HOME FOR THE DAY AND THEY ASK ME TO CONTACT AUDI USA. I CANNOT REACH AUDI USA BECAUSE THEY HAVE CLOSE FOR THE DAY. I WILL TRY TO CONTACT THEM ON MONDAY. THE POINT TO MY COMPLAINT IS THAT THE JACK IS UNSAFE. PLEASE INVESTIGATE THE JACK THE COME WITH ALL AUDI CARS. THERE ARE ALOT OF PEOPLE EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE AUDI JACK. THANK YOU, KENNY,. *JB
WHILE COMMUTING TO WORK, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL ON MY 2004 AUDI A4 CABRIOLET STUCK TO THE FLOOR. AT THE TIME, I WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35-40 MPH. THE PEDAL SUDDENLY MOVED AWAY FROM MY FOOT, STUCK TO THE FLOOR, AND MY CAR STARTED TO RAPIDLY INCREASE IN SPEED. NOT KNOWING EXACTLY WHAT WAS GOING ON, I HIT THE BRAKES, TO NO AVAIL. THE ENGINE WAS SCREAMING AS THE RPMS RACED INTO THE 7000S. I TRIED TO JIGGLE THE GAS PEDAL FREE WITH MY FOOT, BUT IT WAS STUCK AND WOULD NOT BUDGE. THE BRAKES, WHICH I PRESSED ON AGAIN WITH ALL MY STRENGTH, WOULD NOT OVERPOWER THE ENGINE. I THREW THE MANAUL TRANSMISSION INTO "PARK" BUT THAT DID NOT STOP THE CAR EITHER. I FINALLY TURNED THE IGNITION OFF AND THE CAR CAME TO A GRINDING HALT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO THE CLOSET AUDI DEALERSHIP, HOEHN AUDI. THEY HAD THE CAR FOR TWO WEEKS BUT TOLD ME SINCE THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO RECREATE THE PROBLEM AND DID NOT DETECT ANY MALFUNCTIONS IN THE CAR'S COMPUTER, THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH MY CAR NOR WAS THERE ANYTHING THEY COULD DO FOR ME. IN FACT, THEY TRIED TO TELL ME THAT THE ACCELERATOR MAY HAVE GOTTEN STUCK UNDER THE FLOOR MAT. I TOLD THEM THAT WAS NOT POSSIBLE AND THAT I WAS LOOKING AT THE ACCELERATOR AS I WAS TRYING TO GET IT UNSTUCK AND THERE WAS NO FLOOR MAT IN THE WAY. I ALSO FILED A COMPLAINT WITH AUDI'S CUSTOMER CARE ADVOCATES. MY COMPLAINT WAS DENIED BECAUSE THE DEALERSHIP DID NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH MY CAR. I THEN TOOK MY CAR TO THE AUDI DEALERSHIP WHERE I LEASED THE VEHICLE, MIRAMAR AUDI, FOR A SECOND OPINION. THEY, TOO, TOLD ME THAT THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO DETECT ANYTHING WRONG WITH MY CAR AND THAT THERE WAS NOTHING MORE THEY COULD DO FOR ME. THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY BELIEVED AUDI CORPORATE WAS INVOLVED BUT WOULD NOT PROVIDE WITH THE NAME OF ANYONE AT AUDI CORPORATE WITH WHOM I COULD DISCUSS THE ISSUE FURTHER. THEY ALSO STATED THAT THEY HAD THREE OTHER AUDIS IN THEIR SERVICE DEPT FOR THE SAME PROBLEM.
2004 AUDI A4 ACCELERATED FULL THROTTLE WITH PEDAL STUCK TO FLOOR ON 5/20/05. CAR WOULD NOT DECELERATE AND BRAKING HELPED AVERT ACCIDENT. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO DEALER AND TESTING FOUND NOTHING.
AM THE OWNER OF A 2004 AUDI A-4 EQUIPPED WITH PIRELLI P-6 P235/45 R-17 TIRES. THESE TIRES ARE ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT AND THE VEHICLE. AT APPROXIMATELY 12000 MILES THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE DEVELOPED A LARGE SIDEWALL BUBBLE. THIS TIRE WAS IMMEDIATELY REPLACED. NOW A WEEK LATER AND APPROXIMATELY 300 MORE MILES, THE SAME PROBLEM HAS DEVELOPED AT THE DRIVER"S SIDE FRONT TIRE. *JB
AUDI A4 1.8T 2004, AIR BAG DEFECT. *BF THE CONSUMER STATED THE AIR BAG LIGHT WOULD ILLUMINATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER ON 4 SEPARATE OCCASIONS. *JB
I AM THE OWNER OF A 2004 AUDI A-4 EQUIPPED WITH PIRELLI P-6 P235/45 R-17 TIRES. THESE TIRES ARE ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT AND THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHESED FROM BELL AUDI OF RAHWAY, NJ. AT APPROXIMATELY 3000 MILES THE REAR RIGHT TIRE DEVELOPED A LARGE SIDEWALL BUBBLE. THIS TIRE WAS IMMEDIATELY RELPACED WITH THE FULL SIZE SPARE (SAME TYPE, MODEL AND RIM). CALLS TO THE DEALERSHIP, AUDI, USA AND PIRELLI WERE MET WITH LIMITED INFORMATION AND ASSISTANCE AT BEST. IN SUBSTANCE, I WAS TOLD THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD / WOULD DO ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. NOW A APPROXIMATELY 6000 MILES (3000 ON THE REPLACEMENT), THE SAME PROBLEM HAS DEVELOPED AT THE RIGHT REAR TIRE. CALLS ONCE AGAIN ARE APPARENTLY FALLING UPON DEAF EARS. UNDOUBTABLY WE HAVE A SAFTY ISSUE HERE (AS INDICATED BY SEVERAL OTHER COMPLAINTS LODGED BY OTHER OWNERS OF P-6 TIRES) WHICH IS BEING INGNORE BY THE TIRE MANUFACTURER AS WELL AS AUDI, USA AND ITS DEALERS. IN VIEW OF THE LACK OF RESPONSE, AND MORE IMPORTANTLY THE SAFETY ISSUE, I'LL BE FORCED TO REPLACE ALL OF THESE OBVIOUSLY DEFECTIVE TIRES ON MY VEHICLE AT MY OWN EXPENSE. I'M REQUESTING THAT THE NHTSA MAKE FURTHER INQUIRIES INTO THIS MATTER. I WILL ALSO BE VERY WILLING TO PROVIDE MY DEFECTIVE TIRES TO THE NHTSA, OR ANY OTHER INDEPENDENT AGENCY, FOR TESTING, ETC. WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 50 MPH, THE VEHICLE PROCEED TO LAUCH FORWARD AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED, THE RPM'S WERE IN THE RED, VEHICHLE HAD TO BE PUT IN NEUTRAL AND ENGINE TURNED OFF IMMEDIATELY TO AVOID DAMAGE. VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED, WHEN WE HIT THIRD GEAR, VEHICLE AGAIN LAUCHED FORWARD, PEDAL WAS PRACTICALY GLUED TO THE FLOOR, TRYING TO PRY PEDAL UP WITH FOOT WAS NO USE, AGAIN PUT IN NEUTRAL AND PULLED OVER CAR AND TURNED OFF ENGINE. WHEN WE STARTED THE CAR FOR THE THIRD TIME, WE SAT WITH IT IN NEUTRAL AND ENGINE BEGAN TO RAISE. CAR WAS BEING TOWED TO DEALER. WE HAVE NOT HEARD ANY OUTCOME, BUT WE ARE VERY SCARED TO EVER DRIVE THE VEHICLE AGAIN.*AK

MY 2004 AUDI A4 CONVERTIBLE HAS HAD THE TOP FAIL MULTIPLE TIMES. THE DEALER HAS BEEN UNABLE TO IDENTIFY OR FIX THE PROBLEM. THE CAR ONLY HAS 4600 MILES ON IT. 1ST INCIDENT WAS IN APRIL 2004 AND CONTINUES TO TODAY. SEPT 9 WWAS THE LAST INCIDENT AND THE CAR IS STILL AT THE DEALER. I NOTIFIED AUDI FOUR TIMES AND HAVE NOT GOTTEN A RESPONSE. THE TOP GETS STUCK IN THE OPEN POSITION MAKING IT A HAZZARD TO DRIVE. *AK
VEHICLE IS HAVING A PROBLEM WITH THE TRANSMISSION. OWNER HAS LEASED THIS VEHICLE IN JUNE 2004. WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN REVERSE, IT WILL NOT MOVE THEN SUDDENLY THE ENGINE WILL ACCELERATE AND A CLICK AND POP SOUND WILL BE HEARD AND THEN THE VEHICLE WILL SURGE BACKWARD. OWNER HAD TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. INSTEAD THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED BECAUSE IT WAS SAID AT THAT TIME THAT THEY WERE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM BUT COULD NOT REPAIR IT. PROVIDE FURTHER DETAILS.

2004 AUDI A4 WITH PIRELLI 94V M+S TIRES WITH 3754 MILES DELIVERED TO US ON APRIL 15, 2004 HAD ONE TIRE THAT RIPPED APART AT THE SIDEWALL. LUCKILY NO DAMAGE OR INJURY. *JB CLEARLY THE TIRES ARE DEFECTIVE. ARE THERE REPORTS CONCERNING THESE TIRES? I WISH TO SUBMIT AN COMPLAINT AS THE TIRES ARE DANGEROUS AND LIABLE TO CAUSE INJURIES OR DEATH.
NOT SURE IF THIS IS THE CORRECT SITE TO REPORT THIS, BUT NEW AUDI 4A WITH PIRELLI P6 4 SEASON 235/45/17 94V TIRES AND 4000 MILES EXPERIENCED FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE WALL FAILURES WITH NO APPARENT REASON. WEB REVIEW INDICATES THAT THERE ARE MULTIPLE REPORTS OF THIS SAME SITUATION IN NEW CARS WITHOUT APPARENT PRECIPITATING EVENT SUCH AS CURB OR POT HOLES. BUBBLES ONLY BUT THIS SUGGESTS TO ME A POSSIBLE MANUFACTURING DEFECT IN THIS BATCH OF TIRES.*AK
DT: THERE IS AN OILY FILM THAT DEVELOPS ON THE INTERIOR OF THE WINDOWS, CAN'T WIPE IT OFF BECAUSE IT SMEARS. TRAVELED 80 MILES A DAY FOR WORK. DOESN'T HAPPEN IN THE WINTER, BUT HAPPENS IN WARM WEATHER. DEALER PUT IN A NEW WINDSHIELD WHICH WAS HAVING SAME PROBLEM. *AK THE OILY FILM CONTINUED TO COVER THE WINDSHIELD AT 11,000 MILES. AUDI DOESN'T PROVIDE A SOLUTION FOR THE PROBLEM AND CONSUMER FEELS THAT THIS CAN CREATE A DANGEROUS PROBLEM *SB
THE AIR BAG LIGHT IS ON. THE CONSUMER HAD THE AIR BAG REPLACED AND THE DEALER HAS SERVICED THE VEHICLE SEVERAL TIMES, BUT THE LIGHT CONTINUES TO STAY ON. *JB
MY 2004 AUDI A4 IS EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEMS AS THE 2003'S. THE RIGHT REAR TIRE ON MY VEHICLE BLEW OUT WITH A TOTAL OF 1400 MILES ON IT. THE BLOW-OUT WAS ON THE INSIDE WALL APPROXIMATELY 2 INCHES ABOVE THE TREAD AND 4-6 INCHES IN LENGTH. I HAVE A BRAND NEW 2004 AUDI A4AVANTQUATTRO 1.8. ON JULY 1, WITH 2389 MILES ON THE CAR, I HAD A BLOWOUT OF MY RIGHT REAR TIRE, WHICH IS A GOODYEAR M&S R235/17 LOW PROFILE HIGH PERFORMANCE TIRE. I NEVER HAD A SENSATION OF HITTING ANYTHING ON THE ROAD, BUT HAD ONLY SECONDS TO GET FROM THE FAST LANE OF I-5 IN DOWNTOWN SACRAMENTO, CA ACROSS 5 LANES OF FREEWAY TRAFFIC AND AROUND A CALTRANS MAINTENENCE CREW ON THE SHOULDER, TO SAFETY. BY THE TIME I DID, THE TIRE TREAD HAD COMPLETELY SEPARATED ON BOTH SIDES OF THE WHEEL 360 DEGREES. SIX DAYS LATER, WHILE HAVING THE TIRE REPLACED AT A LOCAL TIRE STORE, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON IN THE CAR. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AT MY NEXT OPPORTUNITY, WITH NOW 2750 MILES ON THE CAR. I WAS TOLD THAT THE FILLER HOSE TO THE GAS TANK WAS PUNCTURED, REQUIRING THE REPLACEMENT OF THE ENTIRE GAS TANK, AS IT IS ALL ONE PEICE, THAT THE WIRES CONNECTING THE FUEL SYSTEM TO THE CENTRAL COMPUTER WERE DAMAGED AND HAD TO BE REPLACED, THAT A HOLE IN THE SHEATH AROUND THE SHOCK ABSORBER ON THAT WHEEL HAD BEEN PUNCTURED, REQUIRING POSSIBLE REPLACEMENT OF THE ENTIRE SHOCK, AND THAT THE ENTIRE WHEEL LINER ON THAT WHEEL WAS GONE AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE ESTIMATED COST FOR THIS IS SOMEWHERE BETWEEN $1600-2000. NEITHER AUDI, NOR THE DEALERSHIP, THUS FAR HAS TAKEN ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE DESIGN FLAWS THAT CREATED THE POSSIBILITY FOR SUCH DAMAGE FROM A FLAT TIRE. I FREQUENTLY DRIVE ALONE, AND WE LIVE IN A HIGH FIRE DANGER AREA. I WAS DRIVING AROUND WITH A LEAKY GAS TANK FOR 5 DAYS BEFORE THE "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT EVEN WENT ON, NOT TO MENTION THE FACT THAT A FAULTY SHOCK ABSORBER COULD HAVE CAUSED MY ALL WHEEL DRIVE TO FAIL. I FEEL THAT THIS CAR IS UNSAFE FOR ME TO DRIVE.*AK
VEHICLE LURCHED OR ACCELERATED UPON FINAL PARKING NEAR A STOP WITH FOOT OFF ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND ON BRAKE PEDAL. CAR ACCELERATED FOR MORE THAN HALF A MILE AT 80 MPH. CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO CONTROL VEHICLE AND PUT IT IN NEUTRAL. DEALER INDICATED VEHICLE OPERATED AS DESIGNED BY THE MANUFACTURER, THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH VEHICLE.*AK
AFTER 4,500 MILES, THE FRONT TIRE DEVELOPED A BUBBLE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. *AK THE TIRE WAS THEN REPLACED WITH AN IDENTICAL ONE. AFTER 1500K MILES, THAT TIRE DEVELOPED THE SAME BUBBLE. *SC *JB
MY 2004 AUDI A4 3.0 CABRIOLET HAS WINDSHIELD WIPERS WHICH AT ABOUT 8,000 MILES OF WEAR BEGAN TO MAKE AN UNBEARABLY LOUD, RYTHMICALLY REPETITIVE SOUND ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE. THE SELLING DEALER, CHERRY HILL IMPORTS, HAS REPEATEDLY LOOKED AT THE PROBLEM AND SAID THERE IS NOTHING UNUSUAL ABOUT THIS SOUND, BUT THE CAR DID NOT DO IT WHEN IT WAS NEW. IN SEVERE WEATHER , I HAVE RESORTED TO TURNING OFF THE WIPERS FOR A FEW SECONDS AT A TIME IN ORDER NOT TO BE HYPNOTIZED BY THE REPETITIVE SOUND OF THE DEFECT. THIS, OF COURSE, IS A SAFETY HAZARD, BUT I FEEL BEING PUT TO SLEEP WHILE DRIVING IS MORE DANGEROUS, SHOULD THE DEFECT LEAD TO THAT. DEALERSHIPS BESIDES CHERRY HILL IMPORTS HAVE REPLACED THE BLADES ON THE CAR, BUT THE EFFECT OF THIS REMEDY WAS NON-EXISTENT. I FEEL IT IS MY DUTY TO REQUEST THE AID OF THE NHSTA TO SAVE THE LIVES OF AUDI OWNERS WHO LABOR UNDER THIS HAZARD, AS WELL AS MY OWN. THANKS.*AK
WHILE CHANGING THE PASSENGER SIDE TIRE, THE JACK COLLAPSED AND DAMAGED THE ROTOR. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. *JB
(1) I WAS WAITING AT A MAJOR INTERSECTION AT A RED LIGHT. WHEN IT TURNED GREEN, I PROCEEDED INTO THE INTERSECTION. AN UNLICENSED, UNINSURED DRIVER IN AN OLD CHEVROLET PICK-UP TRUCK COMING IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION RAN THE RED LEFT TURN LIGHT AND COLLIDED BROADSIDE INTO THE DRIVER'S SIDE OF MY 2004 AUDI S4 QUATTRO SEDAN. (2) THE SIDE AIRBAG, WHICH IS IN THE DRIVER'S SEAT AT THE EXACT LOCATION OF THE IMPACT, FAILED TO DEPLOY. I BROKE MY LEFT HAND, INJURED MY RIGHT SHOULDER (ROTATOR CUFF IMPINGEMENT), AND SUFFERED LACERATIONS TO BOTH HANDS. THERE WAS SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE DRIVER'S SIDE OF THE CAR, INCLUDING THE B-PILLAR, WHICH IS A STRUCTURAL PART OF THE UNI-BODY FRAME. I HAVE DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHS OF THE DAMAGE THAT I CAN SEND TO NHTSA IF YOU PROVIDE ME WITH YOUR E-MAIL ADDRESS. (3) I CONTACTED AUDI U.S.A. TO COMPLAIN, AND THEY DID NOT OFFER TO DO ANYTHING TO CORRECT THE FAILURE OF THE SIDE AIRBAG TO DEPLOY. THE CAR HAS BEEN REPAIRED AT A COMPETENT PAINT AND BODY SHOP AND I AM DRIVING IT AGAIN. THE REPAIRS TOOK TWO MONTHS, AND WERE PAID FOR BY MY AUTOMOBILE INSURANCE COMPANY UNDER MY UNINSURED MOTORISTS PROPERTY DAMAGE COVERAGE. THE BODY SHOP RETAINED THE BROKEN PARTS, INCLUDING THE B-PILLAR, AND THEY ARE AVAILABLE FOR INSPECTION. *JB
CAR IS 2004 AUDI A4 WITH 1.8 ENGINE AND CVT TRANSMISSION. CAR'S ENGINE WILL UPON ACCELERATION FROM STANDSTILL, OFTEN HESITATE AND STUMBLE. AT TIMES WHEN MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN ACROSS TRAFFIC FROM STANDSTILL, IT WILL AT TIMES NOT ONLY HESITATE, BUT ACTUALLY STALL OR HAVE A NO POWER SITUATION FOR A COUPLE OF SECONDS. THIS HAS LED TO SEVERAL NEAR ACCIDENTS. I HAVE REPORTED TO OUR AUDI DEALERS SERVICE DEPARTMENT A NUMBER OF TIME. EACH TIME, THEY MERELY SAY THAT THEY CANNOT FIND THE PROBLEM AND RETURN AUTO TO US. A COUPLE OF TIMES THEY HAVE SAID THAT THEY HAVE DOWNLOADED SOFTWARE FIXES TO THE AUTOMOBILES ECM(COMPUTER). *TR (EXCERPT FROM E-MAIL 4-1-08) I WAS THEN TOLD BY ONE SERVICE REP THAT HE HAD SEEN THIS PROBLEM ON THOSE AUDI'S THAT ARE EQUIPPED WITH THE SO CALLED "CVT" TRANSMISSION BEFORE BUT THAT AUDI HAS BEEN UNABLE TO ADDRESS. HE SAID THAT HE APPLIED A SOFTWARE FIX TO THE AUTO'S ELECTRONIC MANAGEMENT COMPUTER, BUT THIS DID NOT HELP. *SMCH
DT: THE CONTACT STATED ALL FOUR ORIGINAL TIRES HAD BLOW OUTS BETWEEN 3/1/04 AND 12/1/05. AFTER EACH BLOW OUT, THE TIRES WERE REPLACED AT THE CONTACT'S EXPENSE. THE FIRST BLOW OUT OCCURRED WHEN THE CONTACT HIT A POT HOLE AT APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH. THE SECOND BLOWOUT OCCURRED IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE CONTACT HIT A BUMP IN THE ROAD AT 40 MPH. THE THIRD OCCURRED WHEN HITTING A POT HOLE AT AN UNDETERMINED SPEED. THE LAST BLOW OUT HAPPENED WHEN HITTING A POT HOLE AT 40 MPH. IN TWO OF THE INCIDENTS THE WHEEL WAS ALSO DAMAGED. EVERY TIRE APPEARED TO HAVE SIDEWALL DAMAGE. THE TIRES WERE REGULARLY SERVICED. THE VEHICLE MANUFACTURER INDICATED THERE WAS NO WARRANTY FOR ROAD HAZARDS.*AK UPDATED 02/07/06. *JB
WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE CONSUMER HIT A POT HOLE. SUDDENLY, THE VEHICLE VIBRATED UNCONTROLLABLY. THE CONSUMER PULLED OVER, AND NOTICED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER TIRE WAS FLAT. THE MECHANIC REPLACED THE TIRE. A FEW MONTHS LATER, THE PROBLEM RECURRED WITH FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE. *AK THIS PROBLEM ALSO OCCURRED WITH THE CONSUMERS PARENTS' VEHICLE WHICH WAS EQUIPPED WITH THE SAME TIRES. *SC *JB
RIGHT AND LEFT HEADLIGHTS DIPPED ERROR. BOTH HEADLIGHTS NOT WORKING MAKING DRIVING UNSAFE. MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS TO FIX AND RESEARCH MANY OTHER AUDI OWNERS HAVE THE SAME ISSUE AND STILL NOT ABLE TO FIX. THE BULBS ARE WORKING FINE AS I SWAPPED THEM WITH ANOTHER AUDI OWNER. *TR
AS AN OWNER OF A 2004 AUDI A4 W/ PIRELLI P6 FOUR SEASON 17" TIRES HAVE BEEN VERY DISAPPOINTED NOT WITH THE PERFORMANCE OF THE VEHICLE BUT THE TIRES. ALL OF THE FAILURES HAVE BEEN UNDER NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS AND THE VEHICLE HAS ONLY 18,300 MILES ON 3/16/06. THE TIRES IN ALL FAILURES HAVE DEVELOPED BUBBLES ON THE SIDE WALLS AND/OR HAVE BLOWN OUT WHILE DRIVING. LUCKILY NO INJURIES TO ANYBODY HAS OCCURRED DURING EACH INCIDENT AND THE TIRES EACH TIME HAD TO BE REPLACED AT $145.00 A TIRE. I FILED A COMPLAINT W/ BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU (BBB) TO RECEIVE SOME TYPE OF COMPENSATION AND PIRELLI DID INDEED MAIL A CHECK FOR A DISCLOSED AMOUNT. I WISH MORE COMPLAINTS TO THE BBB WOULD BE FILED ALSO TO DOCUMENT THIS ON GOING PROBLEM WITH PIRELLI TIRE AND THIS ACTUAL TIRE. *NM
VEHICLE HEATED UP UNDER THE STEERING COLUMN, ESPECIALLY WHEN DRIVING 50 MPH OR GREATER. CONSUMER TOOK VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, AND THEY TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE FOR EIGHT DAYS AND FOUND THE SAME FLAW AS THE CONSUMER. MANUFACTURER INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OPERATING UNDER NORMAL RANGE, AND THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. *AK *NM
