Open the full vehicle complaint log (all categories)POSSIBLE DESIGN DEFECT IN THE 2008 AUDI TT ROADSTER. ON OCTOBER 18, 2008 I WAS ON A SUBURBAN STREET AND UNWITTINGLY DROVE OVER WHAT I BELIEVE WAS A SMALL ROCK. THE LATTER UNALARMINGLY BANGED INTO THE BOTTOM OF THE CAR. A FEW BLOCKS LATER I PULLED INTO MY FRIEND?S DRIVEWAY, PARKED, AND WENT INSIDE. FIVE MINUTES LATER I CAME OUT AND FOUND THAT THE CAR?S ENTIRE OIL RESERVOIR HAD SPILLED OUT ONTO THE DRIVEWAY. I PHONED FRED BAKER AUDI SERVICE, AND WITHIN AN HOUR THE CAR WAS BEING INSPECTED BY THE MECHANIC TEAM. I WANT TO MAKE IT CLEAR THAT I HAVE NO PROBLEM WITH THE EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE PROVIDED BY FRED BAKER PORSCHE AUDI. HERE IS WHAT CONCERNS ME: AUDI MECHANICS EXPLAINED TO ME THAT THE SCREW THAT SECURES THE PAN HAD PUNCTURED THE OIL PAN BECAUSE IT IS TOO LONG AND NOT PROTECTED. HOWEVER UNUSUAL THIS OCCURRENCE WAS, I BELIEVE THAT AUDI SHOULD HAVE PROTECTORS OVER THE SCREWS SO THAT THEY ARE NOT DRIVEN INTO THE OIL PAN IF A ROCK HITS THE UNDERCARRIAGE OF THE CAR. *TR
Complaints are unverified consumer reports submitted to NHTSA. A high complaint count may reflect vehicle popularity, not defect severity. Data sourced from NHTSA public records.
