RECENTLY THE AIRBAG AND SEAT BELT SENSOR INDICATED A FAILURE. I CAN ATTRIBUTE SUCH FAILURE TO A DEFECTIVE SENSOR (PLACED IN THE SEAT MAT). WHEN I CONTACTED BMW USA, THEY REFUSED TO INCLUDE MY VEHICLE IN THE RECALL (CAMPAIGN [XXX]). I WOULD APPRECIATE THE NHTSA / DOT TO INVESTIGATE EXPANDING THE RECALL TO ALL E90 / 2006 BMW 330XI NOT JUST MODELS PRODUCED AFTER 12/ 2005. I TOOK DELIVERY OF MY VEHICLE IN 11/2005. ON 6-3-2016 MY 2006 BMW 330XI STARTED ON FIRE IN THE PARKING LOT AT MY PLACE OF EMPLOYMENT. AS I PULLED MY CAR INTO A PARKING SPACE, I NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. I PARKED THE CAR, SHUT IT OFF AND I OPENED THE HOOD AND SAW SMALL FLAMES ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. I WAS ABLE TO PUT THE FIRE OUT MYSELF. I NOTICED THAT SOME ENGINE COMPONENTS WERE BURNED AND MELTED. AT THE END OF THE WORKDAY I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO AVA RESTORATION IN DUBLIN, NEW HAMPSHIRE. THEY COMPLETED THE NECESSARY REPAIRS. THE OWNER TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS A SHORT IN THE PCV VALVE HEATER(ALSO REFERRED TO AS AN ANGLE CONNECTOR) AND IT HAD CAUSED DAMAGE TO THE INTAKE MANIFOLD AND WIRING HARNESS. AFTER THE REPAIRS WERE COMPLETED I WAS ABLE TO CONTINUE DRIVING MY CAR. I CONTACTED BMW IN JANUARY 2018 AFTER LEARNING THAT THEY RECALLED 2007 MODELS FOR THE SAME COMPONENT FAILURE. I EXPLAINED MY SITUATION TO THEM AND TOLD THEM THEY SHOULD EXPAND THE RECALL TO COVER 2006 MODELS ALSO. I ALSO TOLD THEM THAT I WANTED TO SPEAK TO A REPRESENTATIVE ABOUT GETTING REIMBURSEMENT FOR MY REPAIR COSTS. THEY TOLD ME I HAD TO GET MY CAR EXAMINED AT A LOCAL BMW DEALER AND THAT SOMEONE FROM THEIR CORPORATE OFFICE IN NEW JERSEY WOULD CALL ME ABOUT THE MATTER. THE REPRESENTATIVES AT THE DEALERSHIP WERE LESS THAN HELPFUL AND THE REPRESENTATIVE FROM THEIR CORPORATE OFFICE LEFT ME A MESSAGE AT 8:45 PM ONE NIGHT AND THEN NEVER CALLED ME BACK AFTER I TRIED TO REACH HER SEVERAL TIMES AND GOT ONLY VOICE MAIL. I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM BMW RECENTLY SAYING THAT MY CAR NOW HAS A RECALL ON THE PCV VALVE HEATER, RECALL 19V-273. I BELIEVE THAT BMW KNEW ABOUT THIS PROBLEM FOR A LONG TIME AND DID NOT ADDRESS IT, WILLINGLY PUTTING VEHICLE OWNERS AT RISK. IN ADDITION, THE OWNER OF AVA RESTORATION TOLD ME HE REPAIRED A NUMBER OF BMWS THAT HAD FIRE DAMAGE CAUSED BY THE SAME MALFUNCTION.
RECALL 08V384000: SEAT OCCUPANT SENSON DEFECT. I TOOK MY CAR THREE TIMES ALREADY TO THE DEALERSHIP , AND THEY SAID THAT THERE IS STILL NO PARTS , THE 10 YEAR WARRANTY WILL EXPIRE IN 2 DAYS AND I'M WORRY THEY DON'T WANT TO FIX THE PROBLEM AFTER THE WARRANTY EXPIRED , THE RECALL WAS ABOUT 6 MONTHS AGO , AND STILL NO PARTS ...
AIR BAG SEAT SENSOR FAILURE. I WOULD LIKE TO ADD MY ENTRY TO THE LONG LIST OF BMW 325 OWNERS THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED BY THE FRONT SEAT OCCUPANT PROTECTION MAT DEFECT RECALL (SEE NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V564000), BUT APPARENTLY ARE NOT. ACCORDING TO BMW, MY CAR WAS MADE A MONTH BEFORE I.E. NOV 2005, THE RECALL DATE PARAMETERS, WHICH STARED IN DEC 2005. THIS INVOLVES A FAULTY PASSENGER OCCUPANCY SENSOR MALFUNCTION THAT DISABLES THE AIRBAGS IN 2006 E90 BMW 3 SERIES SEDAN. BMW RECALLED PREVIOUS YEARS SENSORS BUT HAS NOT FIXED THE ISSUE IN LATER MODELS. DRIVERS SIDE SEAT BELT BUCKLE/TENSIONER FAILED AND WOULD NOT HOLD ONTO SEATBELT. THIS CAUSED THE SEATBELT ALARM TO SOUND AS WELL AS DEACTIVATE THE DRIVERS SIDE AIRBAG
ELECTRONIC STEERING WHEEL LOCK MALFUNCTIONS WITHOUT NOTICE AND RENDERS THE CAR INCAPABLE OF STARTING. A YELLOW STEERING WHEEL ICON (OR RED IN SOME INSTANCES) APPEARS IN THE INFORMATIONAL PANEL ON THE DASHBOARD. THE ACCOMPANYING ERROR CODE IS CC-ID 187. THIS CONDITION WHEN IT OCCURS, WILL NOT ENERGIZE (DISABLES) THE IGNITION SYSTEM AND PREVENTS THE CAR FROM BEING STARTED. DRIVERS WILL BECOME STRANDED WHEREVER THEY HAPPEN TO BE ONCE THE CAR IS TURNED OFF AS THE ERROR NOTIFICATION APPEARS ONLY WHEN THE CAR IS SWITCHED OFF OR BACK ON. THERE ARE LITERALLY HUNDREDS OF SIMILAR AND IDENTICAL CASES ON THE INTERNET WHEN PERFORMING A GOOGLE SEARCH ON THIS ISSUE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BE DIAGNOSED AND THE TECHNICIAN INFORMED THAT THE AIR BAG WARNING SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE TEN YEAR WARRANTY WAS EXPIRED AND THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V564000 (AIR BAGS). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 120,000.
THIS VEHICLE HAS AN ELECTRONIC LOCK OUT ON THE STEERING WHEEL THAT PREVENT THE STEERING FROM UNLOCKING AS THE OPERATOR ATTEMPTS TO START THE ENGINE. THE CODE READ OUT TO BE A115 OR A116. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE AND BMW HAS NOT BEEN ASKED BY NHTSA TO RECALL. PLEASE WORKS WITH BMW TO REMEDY THIS FAULTY ON THEIR DESIGN. THE FOLLOWING DESIGN WAS REMOVED FROM STEERING COLUMN AS BMW KNOWN THIS IS A PROBLEM FROM START. THIS PROBLEM OCCURS WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN PARK AND REFUSES TO RELEASE THE STEERING COLUMN.
2006 BMW 330I WAS NOT SUBJECT TO RECALL AND WARRANTY REPAIR OF THE OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM (OCS FOR THE PASSENGER FONT AIRBAG (SI B 72 O2 06). CURRENTLY I HAVE A AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT INDICATING THAT THE PASSENGER AIRBAG IS NOT OPERATING. THE CODE SUGGESTS A FAULTY MAT SENSOR. OTHER BMW'S OF THE SAME MODEL AND YEAR WERE SUBJECT TO THE RECALL. THE BMW 330I WAS NOT INCLUDED AND SHOULD BE. HEADLIGHT WIRING INSULATION IS DETERIORATING AND FALLING APART. RIGHT SIDE HEADLIGHT WIRING IS COMPLETELY DAMAGED AND HEADLIGHT DOES NOT WORK.
STEERING WHEEL LIGHT COMES ON VEHICLE DOES NOT START STEERING WHEEL LOCKS I HEAR FROM A FORUM THAT THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE CAN BE A REASON FOR A FATAL ACCIDENT.

PASSENGER RESTRAINT SYSTEM MALFUNCTION. THERE'S A RECALL FOR THE SAME MAKE AND MODEL OF MY CAR BUT FOR SOME REASON "MY VIN" DOESN'T FALL INTO THE RECALL.

THE WINDOW REGULATOR CLIP HAS BROKEN AND THE WINDOW DOES NOT HOLD IN SPECIFIC PLACES. THE CAR CONTINUOUSLY REMINDS YOU ABOUT THE SITUATION WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED. HAVE TO USE A BOARD AS TEMPORARY FIX.
BMW 3 SERIES, 2006, E90 BODY TYPE. AFTER INSERTING THE KEY IN THE CONTACT ALL POWER WENT OFF. I EXPERIENCED TWICE SUCH COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER, FOR THE ENTIRE VEHICLE: ENGINE, DOORS, LIGHTS AND EVEN THE KEY CANNOT BE REMOVED FROM CONTACT. ONCE I TOUCHED THE BATTERY WITH A VOLTMETER AND MEASURED THE VOLTAGE (THAT WAS PERFECT) THE POWER CAME BACK. THOUGH AFTER THE POWER WAS RESTORED WHILE DRIVING TO DEALERSHIP THE CAR STARTED TO BEHAVE ERRATICALLY, WINDSHIELD WIPERS STARTING BY THEMSELVES, RADIO TURNING ON AND OFF, NOISE IN THE BACK OF THE CAR ( EITHER SPEAKERS OR ELECTRIC). DEALERSHIP DIAGNOSIS IDENTIFIED THE CONNECTOR ON POWER CABLE BETWEEN THE BATTERY AND THE ENGINE AS THE CAUSE OF THE TOTAL POWER LOSS. THE CABLE CONNECTOR APPEARS TO BE ALMOST ENTIRELY CORRODED. INCIDENTALLY THIS VERY CABLE WAS SUBJECT OF BMW VOLUNTARY RECALL BUT ONLY FOR VEHICLES MANUFACTURED AFTER 2007 ( RCDNN-13V044-8968(1).PDF ). THOUGH IN MY CASE IT APPEARS TO BE THE OTHER END OF THE SAME CABLE THAT IS OUTSIDE OF THE CAR BODY, EXPOSED TO CORROSION. THE PART NUMBER CABLE SUBJECT OF THE RECALL APPEARS TO HAVE BEEN INSTALLED ALSO ON 2005 AND 2006 BMW 3XX MODELS THOUGH THEY WERE NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL.
MY COMPLAINT IS REGARDING THE "TAKATA RECALL". I PURCHASED A 2006 BMW 325CI ON JULY 10, 2015 FROM BMW OF FREEPORT, UNBEKNOWNST TO ME, WITH AN OPEN AIRBAG RECALL. I BELIEVE THAT THIS DEALERSHIP HAD A MORAL AND A LEGAL RESPONSIBILITY TO INFORM ME THAT THIS CAR COULD POTENTIALLY RESULT IN SERIOUSLY INJURING OR KILLING ME. BMW DID NO SUCH THING IN INFORMING ME OF THIS RISK AND SOLD ME A CAR THAT IS DANGEROUS. IT TOOK THEM 8 MONTHS TO SEND ME AN EMAIL (MARCH 25, 2016) INFORMING ME OF THIS RECALL THAT THEY HAD KNOWLEDGE OF PRIOR TO SELLING ME THIS CAR IN JULY 2015 THIS CAR SHOULD HAVE BEEN ON A DO NOT SALE LIST. I CONSIDER BMW OF FREEPORT TO BE VERY NEGLIGENT. BMW HAD KNOWLEDGE THAT THIS RECALL WOULD NOT BE REPAIRED IN AN EXPEDIENT TIME FRAME. I AM HORRIFIED THAT THIS DEALER DID NOT PROVIDE SAFEGUARDS FOR PUBLIC SAFETY BUT INSTEAD CARED MORE ABOUT FINANCIAL GAIN. I VISITED THE DEALERSHIP A NUMBER OF TIMES AND IT SEEMS THAT THEY HAVE NO FORESEEABLE TIMELINE IN REPAIRING THIS VEHICLE. I AM REQUESTING THAT BMW OF FREEPORT PROVIDE ME A FULL REFUND FOR SELLING ME A CAR THAT NHTSA HAS DEEMED TO BE A SEVERE RISK TO PUBLIC SAFETY.
TAKATA RECALL- I WAS DRIVING AND SOMEONE RAN A STOP SIGN AND HIT THE VEHICLE ON THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR. LEAVING THE OTHER CARS EMBLEM EMBEDDED IN THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR. THEN CONTINUE TO DRAG THE VEHICLE. THE ENTIRE DRIVERS SIDE IS WRECKED INCLUDING THE TIRE BEING TURNED IN UNDER THE CAR.THE DRIVERS WINDOW SHATTERED ALL OVER ME BUT NO AIRBAGS DEPLOYED.

TAKATA RECALL. I RECEIVED THE NOTICE IN MARCH 2016 REGARDING SAFETY RECALL. HOWEVER, I STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION THAT BMW IS READY TO REMEDY THE DEFECT. I CALLED A BMW DEALER SEVERAL WEEKS AGO TO INQUIRE ABOUT THE AVAILABILITY OF REMEDY. DATE ENTERED BELOW IS APPROXIMATE AS THE LETTER ONLY REFERENCES THE MONTH AND YEAR.

THE DEALER DID NOT GIVE A SPECIFIC DATE FOR WHEN THE PART WOULD BECOME AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER COULD NOT PROVIDE AN ESTIMATED DATE FOR WHEN THE VEHICLE WOULD RECEIVE THE RECALL REPAIR. "TAKATA RECALL" BMW TAKING TOO LONG TO CORRECT THE AIR BAG RECALL ISSUE. SINCE MARCH 2016 I'VE LOST THE ABILITY USE THE CAR DUE TO DEFECTIVE TAKATA AIRBAG INFLATOR AND THE POTENTIAL TO CAUSE DEATH DUE TO AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT. THE CAR IS NOW IN PNO STATUS. BMW SHOULD BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY TOWING FEES , TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED TO THEIR FACILITIES TO CORRECT AIR BAG INFLATOR.
TAKATA RECALL. THIS IS TAKING WAY TOO LONG TO RESOLVE FOR AFFECTED BMW VEHICLES.
RECALL CAMPAIGN NO 16V-071: DRIVERS FRONT AIR BAG MODULE. BMW STATES THE PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE AS OF MARCH 2016. I WOULD LIKE THIS FIXED IMMEDIATELY. I DRIVE THIS VEHICLE DAILY, COMMUTE TO WORK, AND DRIVE MY CHILDREN TO SCHOOL, DAILY.
BMW NORTH AMERICA SITE INDICATES THAT THERE IS A "REMEDY AVAILABLE" AFTER MONTHS OF INDICATING THAT THEY WERE FORMULATING ONE. I CALL THE DEALERSHIPS AND THERE IS NO KNOWLEDGE OF THE REPLACEMENT ACTUATOR. I HAVE ONE OF THE OLDER VEHICLES IN ONE OF THE HOT HUMID ZONES AND THEREFORE SHOULD BE A PRIORITY. I HAVE CALLED 2 DEALERSHIPS WITH NO SUCCESS. IT HAS BEEN OVER 7 MONTHS SINCE THE RECALL WAS ANNOUNCED FOR MY VEHICLE.

I OWN A 2006 BMW 330XI. WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATES. THE FAILURE RECURS CONSTANTLY. ALSO, WHEN SEATED IN THE PASSENGER SEAT, THE VEHICLE DOES NOT REGISTER ANYONE IN THE SEAT. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT THE SEAT OCCUPANCY SENSOR MAT FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND I WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V564000 (AIR BAGS). THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCES THE EXACT SAME FAILURE LISTED IN THE RECALL BUT MY VIN IS NOT INCLUDED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WHEN THE FAILURE STARTED WAS 53,200. THE VEHICLE NOW HAS APPROXIMATELY 110,000 MILES AND THE FAILURE CONTINUES TO HAPPEN.

TAKATA RECALL I WAS TOLD BY BMW NORTH AMERICA THAT THE ONLY REMEDY FOR THE AIRBAG RECALL WAS AN INTERIM REMEDY OF REPLACING WITH THE SAME AIRBAG, BUT A NEW ONE. DOES THE NHTSA STAND BEHIND THIS INTERIM REMEDY AS A SOLUTION TO THE SAFETY HAZARD THIS AIRBAG BY TAKATA REPRESENTS? I AM NOT DRIVING THE CAR NOW OUT OF FEAR FOR MY SAFETY AND HAVE TRIED TO SELL IT BACK TO THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP, WITH NO LUCK. THEY DON'T WANT IT EITHER. DO I HAVE ANY LEGAL RECOURSE TO BE COMPENSATED FOR LOSS OF USE AND/OR INABILITY TO RESALE THE AUTO??

AIR BAG AND SEAT BELT WARNING LIGHTS (RED) CAME ON INDICATING RESTRAINT SYSTEMN FAILURE. BATTER CHANGED THREE MONTHS AGO. CAR TAKEN IN TO SHOP AND SYSTEM "RESET" THINKING IT WAS DUE TO THE BATTERY BEING REPLACED. BOTH AIR BAG AND SEAT BELT WARNING LIGHTS HAVE COME BACK ON. MY MECHANIC TOLD ME THERE HAD BEEN A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM AND SUGGESTED I CONTACT DEALER. CALLED BMW OF MONROVIA, CA AND WAS INFORMED THAT MY VEHICLE ID NUMBER WAS NOT LISTED FOR THE RECALL. SINCE THERE HAVE BEEN SO MANY COMPLAINTS LISTED, SHOULD BMW ISSUE A RECALL BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED AND NOT AFTER A DEATH AS USUALLY HAPPENS?
TAKATA RECALL. I RECEIVED NOTICE OF A RECALL IN FEB. 2016 FOR DRIVER'S SEAT AIRBAG. TO DATE, NEITHER MANUFACTURER NOR DEALER HAS ANY IDEA WHEN THEY WILL HAVE THE PARTS TO REMEDY THE PROBLEM. MEANTIME, THIS IS MY SOLE MEANS OF TRANSPORTATION, AND I AM IN DANGER EVERY DAY. MY UNDERSTANDING IS BMW HAS 60 DAYS TO REMEDY THE PROBLEM. THIS IS WAY BEYOND REASONABLE AT THIS POINT.
