The wipers will wipe 5-6 times then stop. Sometimes mid windshield. Does not reset at any setting on the washer arm. Leads to an urgent stop on side of the road. It is available for inspection. I have tested while sitting in driveway and it does every time (of the 4 times I tested). Only way to reset is to turn off motor and remove key. No confirmation by mechanic. Reading online similar happenings and people replacing wiper relay. No inspection by dealer or others yet. No warning lights before.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 BMW 328XI. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WATER LEAKED THROUGH THE SUN ROOF INTO THE VEHICLE. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 132,000.
ON NOVEMBER 18, 2016, AT APPROXIMATELY 7:45 AM, I WAS DRIVING ON SEWARD HIGHWAY TOWARDS WEST INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT ROAD IN ANCHORAGE, ALASKA AND ALL OF A SUDDEN MY SUNROOF EXPLODED AND GLASS SHARDS FELL ABOVE MY HEAD AND ALL OVER THE INTERIOR OF MY CAR. I CALLED BMW CORPORATE FOR A RESOLUTION BUT THEY INITIALLY DENIED MY CLAIM SAYING IT MUST HAVE BEEN HIT WITH A ROCK AND I SHOULD BE CALLING MY CAR INSURANCE INSTEAD. I CONTACTED BMW CORPORATE FOR THE SECOND TIME. THEY WERE ABLE TO ESCALATE MY ISSUE AND OFFERED ME A "GOODWILL" OFFER TO REPLACE ALL PARTS INVOLVED FREE OF CHARGE ON MY ISSUE, BUT NOT LABOR. LABOR CHARGE IS APPROXIMATELY $900 AND THEY REQUIRE IT TO BE DONE AT THE DEALERSHIP. IT IS ABSURD! I'M NOT PAYING FOR A DAMAGE WHICH I'M NOT RESPONSIBLE. IT SEEMS LIKE THEY ARE NOT CONSIDERING THIS AS A BIG PROBLEM AND RATHER DENYING DEFECTS ON THEIR SUNROOFS. I WAS FURIOUS AND EXCLAIMED THAT IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND I COULD HAVE BEEN INJURED, COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED, OR WORSE, COULD HAVE KILLED SOMEONE ELSE. WITH THEIR "GOODWILL" OFFER AND THE ABSURD LABOR CHARGE, I DON'T THINK I COULD GET THIS ISSUE RESOLVED WITHOUT THE HELP OF NHTSA TO PRESS BMW TO DO FURTHER INVESTIGATION. THIS ISSUE HAS TO BE FIXED ASAP BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED. *TR

PASSENGER SIDE FRONT DOOR WINDOW SHATTERED ON MY 2008 BMW 335XI WHILE THE CAR IS PARKED ON A HOT DAY AT AROUND 96 DEGREES OUTDOORS. THE GLASS IS COMPLETELY SHATTERED BUT HELD TOGETHER BY WINDOW TINT FILM. THERE IS NO EVIDENCE OF IMPACT WITH ANY OBJECT OF ANY KIND ON THE GLASS OR SURROUNDING AREA. THERE IS NO HOLES ON THE GLASS. THIS IS OBVIOUS A CASE OF DEFECTIVE MATERIAL OF THE GLASS. BMW DEALERSHIP DENIED WARRANTY COVERAGE, ALLEGING THERE IS A PIT ON THE GLASS THAT CAUSES THE BREAKAGE. IF WHAT THE DEALERSHIP ALLEGED IS TRUE THEN IS THE WINDOW SUPPOSED TO FAIL COMPLETELY LIKE THIS WITH ONE PIT THAT WAS NOT VISIBLE TO ME? OR IS THE PIT THE RESULT OF DEFECTIVE PRODUCTION OF THE GLASS? *TR
CATASTROPHIC FAILURE OF THE SUNROOF ON MY 3.35I BMW COUPE 2008 MODEL. NO KNOWN CAUSE. IT JUST EXPLODED AND SHOWERED THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT WITH GLASS SHARDS. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 BMW 328XI. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE EXTERIOR SIDE VIEW MIRRORS ROTATED WITHOUT BEING MANIPULATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE SIDE VIEW MIRRORS CONTINUED TO FAIL AND CAUSED THE CONTACT TO LOSE VISIBILITY IN THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR A SECOND INSPECTION AND IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE SEAT CONTROL MODULE WAS FAILING. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED THE FOLLOWING DAY. THE CONTACT IS IN THE PROCESS OF TAKING THE VEHICLE TO A DIFFERENT BMW DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 14,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 18,000.
