6/25/18 BMW WORKED ON MY CAR AND SUPPOSEDLY FIXED THE PROBLEM (KNEE AIR BAG R & R , RESISTANCE TOO LOW IN AIRBAG, REPLACED AIRBAG, INTERNAL MODULE FAILURE, SRS B PILLAR RIGHT MODULE) . 12/31/18 AIR BAG LIGHT STAYS ON CONSISTENTLY WHILE DRIVING
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2005 BMW Z4. WHILE THE CONTACT'S HUSBAND WAS DRIVING 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE HYDROPLANED AND CRASHED INTO THE REAR OF THE PRECEDING VEHICLE. THE AIR BAG DEPLOYED WITH METAL SHARDS AND A METAL ROD GOING THROUGH THE HAND OF THE DRIVER. THE CONTACT ALSO SUSTAINED MINOR BURNS ON THE HAND AND FEET FROM THE GASES WHEN THE AIR BAG DEPLOYED. MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS SOUGHT SEVERAL DAYS AFTER THE CRASH. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT FACILITY. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 54,000.

2005 BMW Z4 ROADSTER. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO AIR BAG SYSTEM ISSUES. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED HE RECENTLY DROVE THE VEHICLE, AND NOTICED THE AIR BAG LIGHT WAS ON. THE DEALER INFORMED HIM, BMW HAD EXTENDED THE WARRANTY PERIOD TO 10 YEARS. THE CONSUMER ASSUMED, THE AIR BAG ISSUE WOULD BE COVERED UNDER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. HOWEVER, HE RECEIVED A CALL FROM THE DEALER, STATING THEY FOUND THE PROBLEM IN THE AIR BAG SYSTEM, WHICH WAS A WIRE, BUT IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. THE DEALER STATED THE COST TO REPLACE THE WIRE WAS $ 1,056.82, PLUS A CHARGE OF $ 141.88 JUST TO FIND THE PROBLEM. *JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 BMW Z4. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE A PASSENGER WAS SEATED IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT, WITH A SEATBELT ON, A WARNING BELL WOULD SOUND IN THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SEATS SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. APPROXIMATELY ONE WEEK LATER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN BACK TO HAVE THE FAILURE DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE.THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 36,400.
