I originally did front end collision repairs on this GM vehicle and I had to originally replace the front passenger seatbelt. I went through 3 apparent good used ones for replacement and all of them have had their fair share of difference from acting up. One of them seemed to work but every now and then the airbag light would come on due to seatbelt. Replaced it with another and frequently the airbag light would come off and on than the last one installed. The 3rd replacement seems to work but airbag light would come on again, not as frequent and would only shut off if seatbelt is pulled and retracted purposely by hand. I am not seeing a short or a wire problem but the seatbelt is not working properly and I believe GM has failed to produce quality front passenger seatbelts. Even all three of the seatbelt would not fully retract on their own without pushing it in by hand.

THE SERVICE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON. I TOOK IT TO INDEPENDENT AUTO SERVICE SHOP THEN THE DEALERSHIP, NEITHER COULD FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THEM. I WAS TOLD TO KEEP MOVING MY DRIVER SIDE SEAT UP AND BACK EVERY SO OFTEN...THAT MIGHT GET IT TO GO OFF. SERIOUSLY, THAT IS WHAT DEALERSHIP TOLD ME. SO, DURING OIL CHANGE I ASKED AUTO SHOP TO TAKE A LOOK AT SERVICE AIR BAG ISSUE. THEY SAID NO COMPUTER CODE CAME UP, SO I NEED TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. NOW I'M LEFT WITH A CAR THAT MIGHT KILL ME IN A CRASH, AND MY BEST BET TO SURVIVE CRASH IS TO 'TRICK' SENSOR BY MOVING MY DRIVER SEAT ' BACK AND FORTH EVERY SO OFTEN!'
AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT IS ON. HAS BEEN ON FOR SEVERAL MONTHS; NO GOES OFF AND ON INDICATING A LOOSE CONNECTION. MY VEHICLE DOES NOT SHOW A RECALL WHEN LOOKING UP THE VIN; HOWEVER THE 2013 BUICK ENCLAVE HAS AN ACTIVE RECALL FOR A LOOSE AIR BAG CONNECTION. I BELIEVE MY VEHICLE SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN THIS RECALL.
DRIVER'S SEAT AIRBAG DEFECTIVE. A WARNING LIGHT INDICATED IT WAS NOT FUNCTIONING. WHEN REPAIRED, NOTED THAT AIRBAG WAS "OPEN" AND WOULD NOT HAVE INFLATED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT PREVIOUSLY BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT. GM WOULD NOT COVER REPAIR OF DEFECTIVE AIRBAG

THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE FAILURE PERSISTED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO ALPINE BUICK GMC SEVERAL TIMES. THE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR FAILURE WAS SERVICED, BUT THE DIAGNOSTIC RESULTS AND REPAIRS WERE UNKNOWN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ALL PREVIOUS AIR BAG FAILURES WERE SERVICED PER A WARRANTY. THE WARRANTY EXPIRED AND THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE, BUT ONLY OFFERED TO PAY FOR PART OF THE REPAIRS SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. GM IS DOING THE RECALL FOR CHAFING AFFECTING THE STEEL CABLE (14V266000 OR 14187) THE RUBBER SLEEVE MY DEALER INSTALLED IS AGGRESSIVELY CHAFING WORSE THAN BEFORE, EVEN ON THE PASSENGER SIDE, WHICH BARELY GETS ANY USE. IT APPEARS THE FIX IS WORSE THAN BEFORE ... THE PLASTIC AROUND THE SEAT IS EASILY TEARING AWAY THE SLEEVE (AFTER ONLY A FEW WEEKS) AND WILL DIRECTLY AFFECT THE SEAT BELT. SOMEONE COULD GET KILLED, AND PEOPLE ARE PROBABLY NOT CHECKING SINCE THEY THOUGHT THE RECALL SOLVED THE PROBLEM... I HAVE PHOTOS OF THE PROBLEM IS YOU WANT, AND I CALLED GM ON 6/17/14 ... 800-462-8782 .. A CUSTOMER SERVICE REP TOLD ME THEY CAN ONLY KEEP FIXING IT THIS WAY. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 BUICK ENCLAVE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE TRAVELING 5 MPH, THE VEHICLE CRASHED HEAD-ON INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE AND THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CONTACT WAS INJURED AND REQUIRED IMMEDIATE MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 11,500.
