Open the full vehicle complaint log (all categories)WHILE HIGHWAY DRIVING AT ABOUT 65 MPH IN OUR NEW 2016 BUICK ENCLAVE WITH ABOUT 319 ODOMETER MILES THE LEFT FRONT TIRE SENSOR CAME ON INDICATING TO ADD AIR. WITHIN APPROXIMATELY 30 SECONDS THE TIRE BLEW OUT. AFTER I WAS ABLE TO CROSS LANES TO STOP ON THE RIGHT SHOULDER AAA WAS ABLE TO COME CHANGE THE TIRE WITH THE SMALL SPARE. WE THEN PROCEEDED TO THE BUICK DEALER AND HAD THE TIRE AND WHEEL INSPECTED AND REPAIRED. THE SERVICE MANAGER TOLD US THE THE TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR HAD COME OFF THE VALVE STEM CAUSING THE STEM TO COME OUT WHICH IN TURN CAUSED THE RAPID TIRE DEFLATION. THIS EVENT COULD HAVE RESULTED IN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT WITH INJURIES OR DEATH. THE SERVICE MANAGER SAID HE WAS NOT AWARE OF ANY VALVE STEM TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR ISSUES LIKE THIS HAPPENING BEFORE. HOWEVER, IN MY RESEARCH SOME CHRYSLER MODELS APPEAR TO HAVE A NUMBER OF SIMILAR COMPLAINTS.
Complaints are unverified consumer reports submitted to NHTSA. A high complaint count may reflect vehicle popularity, not defect severity. Data sourced from NHTSA public records.
