AFTER OWNING THE CAR FOR EST 2 YRS, I NOTICED THE INFO CNTR BEGAN TO NOT WORK PROPERLY. THE ILLUMINATION IN THE INFO CNTR & RADIO AREA WILL INTERMITTENTLY NOT LIGHT UP. THERE ARE OCCASIONS WHERE THIS W/B LIT & THEN GO OUT AS I DRIVE, OR VICE VERSA. W/ THE CAR BEING UNDER WARRANTY, I BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALERSHIP LAST SUMMER, THEY WERE UNABLE TO RECREATE THE PROB. I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH GM (CASE #71-567506079) ON 10/23/07. THEY INDICATED THEY WERE UNAWARE OF ANY POTENTIAL PROBS WITH THE INFO CNTR. 7/07, I BEGAN KEEPING TRACK WHEN THE PROB OCCURRED. W/ MY WARRANTY ABT TO EXPIRE, I BROUGHT THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP 1/4/08, ALONG WITH DOCUMENTATION OF WHEN THE PROB OCCURRED. AGAIN, THEY COULD NOT RECREATE PROB & GAVE ME A STATEMENT FROM GM THAT PROVIDED A POSSIBLE DIAGNOSIS. "CONDITION" CUSTOMER COMMENT OF I/P DIFFICULT TO SEE AT DUSK OR DAWN. RECOMMENDATION: CAUSE: "THE AMBIENT LIGHT SENSOR MAY SENSE THAT IT IS SUFFICIENTLY DARK UNDER THESE CONDITIONS THAT THE BCM WILL ACTIVATE THE AUTOMATIC HEADLAMPS. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, NORMAL I/P DIMMING OCCURS, CAUSING THE CUSTOMER CONCERN." CORRECTION: "THIS IS NORMAL OPERATION OF THE VEHICLE AND THERE IS NO CORRECTION FOR THIS CONCERN. ENGINEERING IS EVALUATING THIS FEATURE BUT IT IS UNCLEAR AT THIS TIME IF ANY CHANGE WILL BE POSSIBLE." TO THIS I ASK: 1) WHY DID THIS "CONCERN" ONLY RECENTLY DEVELOP? I DID NOT HAVE THIS "CONCERN" IN THE 1ST YR I OWNED THE CAR. 2) PER MY DOC THE "CONCERN" (22 INSTANCES FROM 7/27/07 TO 12/24/07) OCCURRED UNDER THESE CONDITIONS: 41% CLOUDY/OVERCAST, 14% DUSK/DAWN AND 45% SUNNY, THEREBY REPUTING THE "NORMAL OPERATION AT DUSK/DAWN". 3) WHY IS IT THE ILLUMINATION MAY NOT BE ON WHEN I START THE CAR, BUT 4 MILES DOWN THE ROAD IT COMES ON, OR VICE VERSA? 4) HOW IS IT WHEN I SPOKE TO THE REP BACK IN OCT THEY WERE UNAWARE OF ANY "CONCERNS", YET, IN DEC THEIR "ENGINEERS ARE EVALUATING THE FEATURE"? TO THIS DATE, THE "CONCERN" HAS YET TO BE RESOLVED AND 3 MORE OCCURRENCES HAVE COME ABOUT. *TR
I OWN A 2005 BUICK CXL WITH ABOUT 38200 MILES. STARTING BACK IN FEBRUARY OR MARCH 2007, THE MESSAGE FROM THE DASH INDICATED THAT MY OIL LEVER WAS LOW. I ADDED 1 QUARTS OF OIL AND THOUGHT THAT MY LAST OIL CHANGE WASN?T COMPLETE. AFTER DRIVING MANY MORE MILES, THE OIL INDICATOR CAME ON AGAIN. I BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS ON APRIL 4, 2007 WITH 19,488. OIL DYE WAS ADDED TO TRACE A POSSIBLE LEAK. NO LEAK WAS VISIBLE WHEN I RETURNED AGAIN ON JUNE 13TH (21,126 MILES) WHEN THE OIL INDICATOR WENT ON AGAIN. THE DEALER FOUND MINOR SEEPAGE DUE TO THE LEFT REAR OF THE OIL PAN. THE BOLTS WERE TIGHTENED, CHANGED THE OIL AND THEY SENT ME ON MY WAY. ON JULY 23RD (23,102 MILES) THE OIL LIGHT WENT ON AGAIN, BUT THIS TIME THE DEALER SUGGESTED A CONSUMPTION TEST AND THAT I SHOULDN?T ADD ANY OIL. ON AUGUST 29TH (24,275 MILES) OIL WAS DOWN AGAIN. THEY ADDED 1 QUART OF OIL AND TOLD ME TO BRING THE CAR BACK AGAIN FOR A VALVE DETERMINATION. ON SEPTEMBER 4TH (24,637 MILES), THE DEALER NOTATED THAT THERE WAS OIL LOST AND FOUND BULLETIN FOR VALVE STEM SEALS. THEY WERE REPLACED. FINALLY, ON JANUARY 11, 2008 AND STILL LOOSING OIL, THE DEALER TOLD ME THAT A BULLETIN SAYS THAT IT IS COMMON TO LOOSE 1 QUART OIL EVERY 1000 MILES. I TOLD THEM THAT ANSWER WASN'T ACCEPTABLE. *TR
THE TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM LIGHTS COME ON DURING WET WEATHER AND OR TURNING. THE ANTI-LOCKS BRAKES FAIL TO WORK UNLESS PRESSED COMPLETELY DOWN. NO ACCIDENTS HAVE OCCURED AT THIS TIME, BUT A FEW CLOSE CALLS. THE CAR IS BEING RETURNED TO A GM DEALER TO INSPECT AND REPORT THE PROBLEM. THE BRAKES HAVE ALWAYS HAD A SPONGY FEELING SINCE DATE OF PURCHASE AND SINCE THE BRAKE RECALL WAS ADJUSTED. I WOULD HOPE THAT THIS PROBLEM CAN BE INVESTIGATED BEFORE THERE IS A FATAL INCIDENT SINCE THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES BECOME VERY NON-RESPONSIVE WHEN THE TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM FAILS.
TL* - THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 BUICK LACROSSE CXL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THEY WERE ENTERING A HOSPITAL PARKING GARAGE, PUT A TICKET INTO MACHINE TO OPEN THE GATE AND THE VEHICLE LURCHED BACKWARDS, AND HIT THE CAR BEHIND THEM. THEN , THE VEHICLE LURCHED FORWARD AND HIT THE GATE THAT WENT UP AND DOWN IN A PARKING GARAGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DOOR AND FENDER HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE SECURITY GUARD ON THE SCENE MADE A REPORT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE WOULD ATTEMPT TO GET A COPY. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGE WERE 7,000.*AK
HAVE HAD A VIBRATION PROBLEM WITH 2005 BUICK LACROSS SINCE 11000 MILES. MADE SEVERAL TRIPS TO DEALER. DEALER REPLACED TIRES ON LAST TRY. STILL HAVE VIBRATION PROBLEM. DEALER MADE REMARK THAT THERE IS NOT A PROBLEM THAT THEY CAN SEE OR FEEL, BUT WAS AGAIN DRIVEN WHILE I WAS IN THE CAR AND TOLD HIM WHEN I COULD FEEL IT. HE AGREED THAT THERE WAS A SMALL VIBRATION BUT ANOTHER SET OF TIRES MAY OR MAY NOT TAKE CARE OF THE PROBLEM. I AM TIRED OF TAKING MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND LEAVING IT AND BE WITHOUT A CAR. ITS TIME TO GET GM GI GETS INVOLED IN THIS. *JB
HAVE HAD A VIBRATION PROBLEM WITH 2005 BUICK LACROSSE SENSE 11000 MILES AND MADE SEVERAL TRIPS TO DEALER. DEALER REPLACED 1 TIRE THE FIRST TIME, ANOTHER TIRE THE SECOND TIME, AND TWO MORE THE THIRD TIME. THE FORTH TRIP NO ACTION WAS TAKEN AS FAR AS I COULD SEE, AS I STILL HAVE THE VIBRATION, DEALER MADE THE REMARK THAT THERE WAS NO PROBLEM WHEN HE TEST DROVE IT. WE BOTH WENT OUT AGAIN AND I TOLD HIM WHEN THE VIBRATION STARTED AND AGREED THAT HE COULD FEEL IT. SAID ANOTHER SET OF TIRES MAY OR MAY NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM. I FEEL THE PROBLEM IS WITH THE BRAND OF TIRES USED. I AM TIRED OF TAKING THE CAR TO THE SHOP AND HAVING TO WAIT OR LEAVE IT ALL DAY AND IT STILL COMES BACK THE SAME WAY. I FEEL LIKE GM SHOULD GET INVOLVED IN THIS BUT THE DEALER HAS NOT YET DONE SO. *JB
TIRES, VIBRATION THIS INFORMATION IS FOR ALL 2005 BUICK LACROSSE OWNERS. THERE IS A BULLETIN ON THE GOODYEAR TIRES, WHICH MAY BE OUT OF ROUND OR HAD A BAD BATCH OF RUBBER ADDED TO THE TIRES CAUSING OUT ROUNDNESS OR VIBRATION PROBLEMS. GM HAS NOT TOLD ANY BUICK LACROSSE OWNERS OF THIS UNLESS THEY HAVE A COMPLAINT. I HAVE HAD ALL 4 TIRE REPLACED ON MINE BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM. BUICK LACROSSE OWNERS SHOULD SEE THEIR DEALERS ON THIS MATTER TO SEE IF THEIR TIRES ARE ON THAT LIST. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 BUICK LACROSSE. THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND THE DRIVER INFORMATION CENTER ARE DIFFICULT TO READ DURING THE DAY OR EARLY MORNINGS BECAUSE THE SENSORS ARE DIM. THE DEALER REPLACED THE LIGHT CLUSTER SWITCHES AND STATED THAT THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND INFORMATION CENTER WERE DESIGNED WITH DIM LIGHTING; THEREFORE, REPLACEMENTS WOULD NOT CORRECT THE FAILURE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 15,500 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 14,000. UPDATED 02-25-08 *BF THE INTERMEDIATE SHAFT WAS REPLACED DUE TO A NOISE BEING HEARD IN THE STEERING WHILE DRIVING. THE STARTER MOTOR WAS REPLACED. UPDATED *JB
UPON ENTERING THE HIGHWAY AND APPROACHING THE 55 MPH SPEED LIMIT THE CAR SEEMED TO STALL. THE ENGINE ACTED LIKE IT LOST ALL POWER. LETTING UP ON THE GAS PEDAL CAUSED THE ENGINE TO REGAIN POWER UNTIL THE GAS PEDAL WAS PRESSED AGAIN. I DID THIS NUMEROUS TIMES UNTIL THE CAR FINALLY DIED AND I HAD TO PULL OFF THE ROAD. AFTER THE LONG LINE OF CARS PASSED BY I GOT THE CAR STARTED AND KEPT IT IN FIRST GEAR UNTIL I WAS MORE SURE IT COULD KEEP RUNNING. IT BEHAVED NORMALLY AFTER THAT. WHEN I GOT HOME MY WIFE CONFIDED IT HAPPENED TO HER ONCE TOO.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 BUICK LACROSSE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS A TSB REGARDING A CLUNKING NOISE (SERVICE BULLETIN NUMBER 4105, NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 10020049 (STEERING:COLUMN)). THE FAILURE OCCURS WHENEVER THE STEERING WHEEL IS TURNED. THE TSB STATED THAT THE FAILURE CAN BE RESOLVED BY GREASING THE WHEEL AND WAS DUE TO INSUFFICIENT LUBRICATION OF THE INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT. THE FAILURE BEGAN AT 41,000 MILES IN 2007 WHILE DRIVING 15 MPH. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY REPAIRED THE VEHICLE ACCORDING TO THE TSB; HOWEVER, THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE FAILURE WOULD OCCUR AGAIN. CURRENTLY, AT 66,000 MILES, THE FAILURE IS RECURRING. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS CORRECTED THE FIRST TIME AND THEY WOULD NOT REPAIR IT AGAIN SINCE IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. THE CONTACT BELIEVES A RECALL SHOULD BE ISSUED SINCE IT IS A MANUFACTURER DEFECT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 41,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 67,000. UPDATED 01/08/09 *BF THE CONSUMER STATED THE STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT HAS INADEQUATE LUBRICATION, WHICH CAUSE A CLUNKING NOISE. THE CONSUMER STATED THE NOISE HAS RETURNED. UPDATED 01/09/09. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 BUICK LACROSSE WHICH WAS PURCHASED ON 10-14-2006. THE HEADLIGHTS WOULD WORK INTERMITTENTLY. THE DEALER MADE NECESSARY REPAIRS TO THE HEADLIGHTS BY ADDING AN UNKNOWN SENSOR, HOWEVER A SHORT OCCURRED AND THE HEADLIGHTS HAVE FAILED COMPLETELY. THE HORN WAS ALSO INOPERABLE. SHE ALSO STATED THAT THE WATER PUMP FAILED AND WAS REPLACED BY THE DEALER. ALL OF THE REPAIRS WERE COVERED UNDER HER EXTENDED WARRANTY PLAN. TO DATE, NO REPAIRS HAVE BEEN MADE TO THE HEADLIGHTS TO CORRECT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 26,000 AND THE CURRENT WAS 78,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 BUICK LACROSSE. WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN 20-30 MPH, THE VEHICLE HESITATED WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE SPEED WOULD INCREASE AFTER DRIVING 3-4 MILES. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED AFTER BEING PARKED FOR HOURS, IT IDLED ROUGHLY AND THE "TRACTION CONTROL" AND "ENGINE POWER REDUCED" WARNING INDICATOR LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE DEALER REPROGRAMMED THE PCM, BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ANOTHER DEALER AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 15,800. UPDATED 3/19/08 *CN THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE RUNS ROUGH AND WOULD NOT GO OVER 40MPH. THE DEALER PERFORMED BRAKE PEDAL RECALL. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 BUICK LACROSSE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE IS UNABLE TO READ THE INSTRUMENTAL PANEL GAUGES AT DUSK OR DAWN. IN ORDER TO READ THE GAUGES, THE HEADLIGHTS MUST BE TURNED OFF. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE FAILURE IS DUE TO A FAULTY DESIGN AND THERE WAS NO REPAIR AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER IS AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND ENGINEERS ARE CONDUCTING AN EVALUATION. DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE ADJUSTING THE DRIVER SEAT, IT WILL NOT ADJUST ENOUGH FOR A SMALLER PERSON. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE DEALER WHO DETERMINED THE SEATS PERFORMED AS DESIGNED. UPDATED 12/5/2006 - *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE STALLED WHILE STOPPED AT AN INTERSECTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE SERVICE DEALER WHO CHANGED THE FUEL PUMP. AFTER THE REPAIR, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO THE SERVICE DEALER THREE TIMES TO CORRECT THIS ISSUE. ON THE LAST VISIT TO THE SERVICE DEALER, THEY DETERMINED THE VEHICLE NEEDED A NEW SENSOR. THE CONSUMER WAS TOLD THE VEHICLE HAD AN OIL LEAK, THE FRONT ROTORS WERE MACHINED. THE GAS CAP ASSEMBLY WAS REPLACED, THE BLOWER MOTOR RESISTOR WAS REPLACED, BECAUSE WHEN THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS WERE TURNED ON, THE HEAT WOULD CUT OFF. UPDATED 12/12/06 *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT NIGHT UNDER NORMAL ROAD CONDITIONS, THE INTERIOR LIGHT DIM SWITCH ILLUMINATED SO BRIGHTLY THAT IT BLINDED THE CONTACT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR EXAMINATION, WHO COULD NOT IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH ON A CITY STREET AT NIGHT, UPON ENGAGING THE HIGH BEAM/DIMMER SWITCH, THE HEADLIGHTS WENT OUT WITHOUT WARNING. THE HEADLIGHTS WOULD NOT ILLUMINATE AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS. THE HEADLIGHTS ILLUMINATED ON THEIR OWN AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN 2 MILES TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY A DEALER WHO WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. AFTERWARDS, THE PROBLEM PERSISTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER TO AWAIT FURTHER INSPECTION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WITHOUT WARNING, THE DRIVER SIDE WINDSHIELD WIPER STOPPED OPERATING. THE DEALERSHIP DETERMINED ALTHOUGH THE WINDSHIELD WIPER ARM SHOULD'VE BEEN GROOVED ON THE INSIDE, IT WAS SMOOTH. THE WIPER ARM WAS REPLACED.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE AN 8 YEAR OLD CHILD, WHO WEIGHED 55 POUNDS, SAT IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT, THE AIRBAG ACTIVATION LIGHT FLASHED ON AND OFF. THE DEALERSHIP AND MANUFACTURER STATED THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG WOULD ACTIVATE AT 90 POUNDS AND THE CHILD SHOULD SIT IN THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. UPDATED 02/27/07. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH TOWARD AN INTERSECTION ON NORMAL ROAD CONDITIONS, THE VEHICLE STARTED SHAKING WHEN BRAKES WERE APPLIED. NO WARNING LIGHT WERE ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP WHO DETERMINED THE ROTORS MUST BE MACHINED. AFTER A VISUAL INSPECTION THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT ALL FOUR TIRES WERE OF A DIFFERENT BRAND; THE DEALERSHIP INFORMED THERE WAS NO CONCERN ABOUT THE DIFFERENT TIRE BRANDS. ALSO, THE VEHICLE HAD AN OIL LEAK. THE DEALERSHIP DETERMINED THE LEAK WAS FROM THE OIL FILTER AND CORRECTED IT. AFTER A FEW MILES DRIVEN, THE VEHICLE PRESENTED PROBLEMS WITH THE FUEL PUMP AND THE DEALERSHIP HAD TO REPLACE IT. ALSO, AN EXTERIOR LIGHTING PROBLEM WAS NOTICED WHICH WAS DETECTED DUE TO WIRING CORROSION LOCATED IN THE TRUNK. AFTER THE REPAIRS, THE ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED; THE DEALERSHIP CORRECTED THE DEFECT BUT AFTER FEW MILES, THE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AGAIN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED WHO PROVIDED THE NHTSA PHONE NUMBER WHEN ASKED FOR A RESOLUTION.
AT TIMES, CAR WILL NOT ACCELERATE. WHEN ATTEMPTING TO INCREASE SPEED, USUALLY WHEN ACCELERATING INTO HIGH SPEED, THE CAR DOES NOTHING FOR A FEW SECONDS, THEN IT BEGINS TO BUCK, STILL WITH NO SPEED ACCELERATION. IT HAS LASTED FROM A FEW SECONDS TO 10 MINUTES. IT ONLY HAPPENS PERIODICALLY, AND NO TROUBLE LIGHTS APPEAR ON THE DASHBOARD. *JB
2005 LACROSSE DASH LIGHTS ARE NOT BRIGHT ENOUGH. *TS *NM
THE VEHICLE HAD A HESITATION UPON ACCELERATION BETWEEN 40 AND 60 MPH. ALSO NOISE WAS COMING FROM THE ENGINE. ESPECIALLY ON A COLD START. BRAKES WERE PULSATING. *JB
CAR LOOSES POWER WHILE TRYING TO ACCELERATE. HAVE ALMOST BEEN REAR ENDED ON A COUPLE OF OCCASIONS. ONCE WHILE ON I-95 IN GEORGIA, A SEMI-TRUCK ALMOST REAR ENDED THE VEHICLE. THE DEALERSHIP SAYS IT CANNOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM EVEN THOUGH THEY SAY IT COULD BE THE WIRELESS ACCELERATOR THEY WILL NOT REPLACE IT UNLESS THEY CAN PERSONALLY DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. *JB

DT*: THE CONSUMER STATED WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE SURGED. IT WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP. THE MECHANIC DETERMINED IT WAS THE TRANSMISSION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP, WERE A DIAGNOSTIC TEST WAS PERFORMED AND NO CODES WERE FOUND. WHILE TURNING RIGHT THERE WAS A CLICKING NOISE IN THE FRONT END. *JB

DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE HORN ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE STEERING WHEEL WILL NOT SOUND . THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN INSPECTED BY THE DEALERSHIP ON FOUR SEPARATE OCCASIONS. THEY HAVE SINCE BEEN ADJUSTED, HAD NEW SEALS PUT IN, BONDO APPLIED AT A BODY SHOP. THEN BUICK REPLACED BOTH DOORS WITH NEW FACTORY DOORS. THESE ALSO LEAKED. THEY WERE ADJUSTED AND BONDO WAS APPLIED TO THE NEW DOORS. THEY REQUIRED MULTIPLE ADJUSTMENTS AS WELL.
