IN JANUARY OF 2015 THE ELECTRONIC DOOR LOCK SYSTEM BEGAN TO MALFUNCTION. THE REMOTE FIRST FAILED TO CONTROL THE RIGHT REAR DOOR. THEN THE MALFUNCTION SPREAD TO THE LEFT FRONT DOOR LOCK. THE SITUATION BECAME WORSE UNTIL THE ENTIRE LOCKING SYSTEM COULD ONLY BE CONTROLLED MANUALLY. EVEN THEN THE PHYSICAL KEY CONTROL FREQUENTLY MALFUNCTIONED. SAFETY HAZARDS WERE CREATED INCLUDING LOCKING THE KEYS INSIDE AN UNOCCUPIED RUNNING VEHILE, BEING TOTALLY UNABLE TO UNLOCK THE VEHICLE, AND GENERALLY INCONSISTENT ABILITY TOO MAINTAIN CONTROL OVER THE VEHICLES LOCKING STATUS. APPROXIMATELY $1,000 DOLLARS HAVE BEEN SPENT USING GENUINE GMC PARTS TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. IT IS STILL UNSTABLE AND IN A DETERIORATED CONDITION.

2009 BUICK LACROSSE. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE HEADLIGHTS MALFUNCTION AND IGNITION RECALL ISSUES. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED WHILE DRIVING HOME ONE NIGHT, THE HEADLIGHTS WENT OUT. THE CONSUMER WENT TO THE DEALER, WHERE THEY CLAIMED THEY FIXED THE PROBLEM. IN JANUARY 2015, THE CONSUMER RECEIVED A RECALL FOR THE VERY PROBLEM SHE EXPERIENCED. CAR WAS TOWED TO AUTO REPAIR SHOP WHERE THE AIRBAG LIGHT AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS WERE ILLUMINATED. HAVE HAD FOUR DIAGNOSTICS PERFORMED AND PROBLEM NOT FOUND. ADVISED A COMPLETE TEAR DOWN OF PASSENGER SEAT WOULD NEED TO BE DONE TO LOCATE ISSUE WHICH IS COSTING ME AN EXUBERANT AMOUNT OF MONEY FOR SOMETHING THAT SHOULD BE FIXED ON A RECALL. *TR

GM RECALL # N140291 WAS ISSUED 11/25/2014. AS OF 1/6/2016 A REMEDY IS NOT YET AVAILABLE PER THE GM WEB SITE. REALLY? WHEN IS THE NHTSA GOING TO START PROMPTING SOME ACTION FROM GM?
MY MOTHERS AUTOMATIC LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS WILL INTERMITTENTLY FUNCTION. MY MOTHER IS 85 YEARS OLD AND THIS IS A POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS CONDITION FOR HER. SHE IS NOT AS ATTENTIVE AS SHE WAS WHEN SHE WAS YOUNGER AND SHE DOES NOT NOTICE THAT THE LIGHTS ARE NOT SHINING UNTIL SHE GETS IN A RURAL AREA AND REALIZES THAT SHE CANNOT SEE. THIS CAN CAUSE HER TO GET A LITTLE ANXIOUS AND CONFUSED UNTIL SHE STOPS TO TURN ON THE HEADLIGHTS MANUALLY. THIS CONDITION WAS BROUGHT TO THE ATTENTION OF A CHEVROLET DEALER AND SHE WAS TOLD THAT THE PART THAT WAS NEEDED TO FIX THIS PROBLEM FOR A POTENTIAL 269,586 VEHICLES WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THIS IS RIDICULOUS! A TEMPORY REPLACEMENT PART WAS INSTALLED ON 7/29/15. THE RECALL BULLITEN STATES THAT ONLY THE LOW BEAM LIGHTS ARE AFFECTED. THIS IS NOT CORRECT WITH THIS VEHICLE. ON MY MOTHERS VEHICLE THE HIGH BEAM AND LOW BEAM LIGHTS MAY OR MAY NOT WORK ON THE AUTOMATIC SETTING. THE VEHICLE DOES NOT HAVE TO BE HOT. THIS CONDITION IS STILL PRESENT ON A COLD OR HOT VEHICLE SINCE THE TEMPORARY PART WAS INSTALLED! THE DASH INDICATOR LIGHTS DO NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY ALSO. THE LOCAL DEALER HAS BEEN VERY NICE AND HAS DONE EVERYTHING THAT GM HAS TOLD THEM TO DO. GM HAS APPARENTLY NOT LEARNED IT'S LESSON OVER THE KEY SWITCH RECALL AND GM DOES NOT SEEM TOO CONCERNED OVER THIS PROBLEM. GM'S RESPONSE TO THIS RECALL IS IRRESPONSIBLE AND UNACCEPTABLE. IF GM KNEW JUST HOW UPSET MY MOTHER WAS ABOUT THIS MALFUNCTION THEY MIGHT BE MORE CONCERNED. MY MOTHER HAS ONLY BEEN TRYING FOR TEN MONTHS TO GET THE HEADLIGHTS REPAIRED. I CAN ONLY ASSUME THAT GM MUST SEE THIS MALFUNCTION AS AN UNIMPORTANT ISSUE!
WE HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE SINCE 10/16/2012 AND RECENTLY NOTICED THE REFLECTION IN A STORE FRONT GLASS THE LEFT HEADLIGHT WILL GO OUT. THIS IS THE ONLY WAY WE NOTICED THE LIGHTS GOING OUT.. WE HAD THE VEHICLE SERVICED LAST WEEK AND MENTIONED IT TO THE SERVICEMAN. HE SAID HE FOUND NOTHING WRONG. I HEARD APPROX 2 WEEKS AGO ON T>V. THAT THE ? - 2009 BUICK LACROSSE HEAD LIGHTS WOULD GO OUT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER DISTRIBUTION CENTER THE (PDC) NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER A SECOND TIME WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 81,337.
DRIVING HOME AT 11PM IN THE DARK AND LOST HEADLIGHTS COMPLETELY FIRST TIME IN SEPT 2014 THEN AGAIN IN OCTOBER 2014 AND MOST RECENTLY 3 TIMES IN MAY 2015 ALL 3 TIMES I WAS DRIVING 55 MPH IN THE DARK AND LAST ONE WAS IN POURING RAIN.. LUCKILY THERE WERE STREET LIGHTS EACH TIME ..I PULLED OVER QUICKLY ,BLINDLY AS THE DASH LIGHTS WENT OUT, TOO, SO I COULDN'T SEE WHERE THE 4 WAY FLASHERS WERE TO TURN THEM ON ..I GOT OUT AND LOOKED GOT BACK IN SHUT CAR OFF STARTED IT BACK UP AND THE HEADLIGHTS CAME BACK ON ..THE MOST RECENT TIME AND THE FIRST TIME I HAD NO HIGH BEAMS EITHER ..LITERALLY NO LIGHTS FOR 30 SECONDS TO 3 MINUTES .. HAD THERE BEEN TRAFFIC I MAY HAVE BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT OR IF NOT FOR STREETLIGHT IN POURING RAIN I WOULD HAVE ENDED UP IN A DITCH OR WORSE .. THERE IS A RECALL ON LOWBEAMS BUT DEALER WOULDN'T FIX IT BECAUSE GM IS DRAGGING THEIR FEET ABOUT THE PROBLEM..SO I TOOK IT ON MY OWN TO ORDER A RELAY REPLACEMENT PART ONLINE HEADLIGHT MODULE TODAY TO SEE IF THAT FIXES THE PROBLEM UNTIL GM DECIDES TO ISSUE THE RECALL GUIDELINES TO THE DEALERS ... ..I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHAT THEY ARE WAITING FOR .. I WAS DRIVING TO WORK USING MY NORMAL DRIVING ROUTE IN THE MORNING ABOUT SIX AM . THE CONDITIONS WERE DRY AND CLEAR. THIS ROUTE HAS NO SERIOUS ROAD HAZARDS AND IS APPROXIMATELY 13.5 MILES IN DISTANCE. I ROLLED UP TO A TRAFFIC LIGHT TO MAKE A LEFT TURN. UPON WAITING FOR THE LEFT TURN ARROW TO COME ON THE CAR STOPPED RUNNING. THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN .... NONE OF THE LIGHTS ON THE CAR WOULD WORK AND IT WOULD NOT RESTART. I PUSHED THE CAR MY SELF INTO A GAS STATION ENTRANCE WITH SOME DIFFICULTY I WILL SAY. I AM A BIG PERSON SO IT WAS NOT THAT HARD TO ROLL THIS CAR A FEW FEET. I REMOVED THE KEY AND GOT OUT AND OPENED THE HOOD TO CHECK THE BATTERY CONNECTIONS. THEY WERE CONNECTED AND TIGHT. I SHUT THE HOOD THINKING TO MYSELF WHAT I SHOULD DO? SO I TRIED TO START THE CAR WITH THE AUTOMATIC KEY FOB START SEQUENCE. TO MY SURPRISE IT STARTED!! ALL LIGHTS AND GAUGES WERE WORKING. I PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE TO COMPLETE MY DRIVE TO WORK. I HAD ABOUT 1 MILE TO GO. AS I DROVE AWAY THE HEAD LAMPS SHUT DOWN. ALONG WITH THE TURN SIGNALS AND POSSIBLY THE BRAKE LIGHTS. I ARRIVED AT WORK AND PARKED LEAVING THE CAR RUNNING. I ATTEMPTED TO USE THE SWITCHES TO TURN THE HEAD LIGHTS ON BUT HAD NO SUCCESS . NO LIGHTS AT ALL NO GAUGES AT ALL. LATER THAT DAY I WAS LEAVING WORK AND EVERYTHING OPERATED ON MY DRIVE HOME. SAFE TO SAY I AM A BIT PISSED OFF. I WAS ASSURED THAT THIS CAR WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL BY MY DEALER O'REILLY BUICK OF NEWTOWN SQUARE PA. WHEN I PURCHASED THIS CAR IT WAS LISTED AS 'GM CERTIFIED USED CAR'. LOOKS LIKE AFTER I AM DONE WITH THIS REPAIR, THIS CAR IS GOING TO BE TRADED IN. ALONG WITH THIS RECALL THERE HAS BEEN A FEW MAJOR ELECTRONIC REPAIRS TO THIS CAR. ALONG WITH REAR ALIGNMENT ISSUES THAT WERE PRESENT WHEN THIS CAR WAS ASSEMBLED. I AM DONE WITH GM! *TR
THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE. TWICE I WAS GOING ABOUT 55 OR 60 MILES PER HOUR AND SUDDENLY I HAD REDUCED POWER. THIS HAPPENED IN JULY AND THEN SEVERAL MONTHS AGO. MY ENGINE LIGHT HAS COME ON AND CODES SHOW THAT P1125, ACCELERATOR PEDAL POSITION SENSOR FAULT, AND P2138 ACCELERATOR PEDAL POSITION PERFORMANCE. I RECALL I GOT A LETTER FROM GM ABOUT THIS MATTER, BUT I CAN NOT LOCATE AT THIS TIME..
BOTH LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS FAILED WHILE DRIVING IN THE DARK. *TR
THE HEADLAMPS WENT OUT AT NIGHT NO REASON BACK ON AUG 6 WITH MY WIFE DRIVING AFTER SHE TURNED OFF THE HIGH BEAMS. I ASSUMED SHE UNINTENTIONALLY TURNED THEM OFF. LAST NIGHT WHEN I WAS DRIVING THEY WENT OFF AGAIN FOR NO REASON. I HAD TO TURN ON THE HIGH BEAMS IN ORDER TO SEE. THIS HAS NEVER HAPPENED IN ALL MY YEARS OF DRIVING. THE OWNER HAD BEEN SMELLING A BAD ODOR WHEN SHE ARRIVED AT HER DESTINATION IN A MALL PARKING LOT. THE ODOR DID NOT FADE WHEN THE VEHICLE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF AND SUBSEQUENTLY OPENED THE HOOD. BLACK SMOKE WAS SEEN COMING FROM THE FUSE BLOCK. UPON REMOVING THE COVER TO THE FUSE BLOCK, THE OWNER OBSERVED A SMALL FIRE WHICH CAUSED DAMAGE TO THE WIRING HARNESS. THE VEHICLE WAS LATER EXAMINED BY AN INDEPENDENT ENGINEERING CONSULTANT WHO IDENTIFIED THE ORIGIN OF THE FIRE. THE ORIGIN WAS PLACED AT THE # 35 POSITION IN THE FUSE BLOCK WHICH WAS OCCUPIED BY THE HDM MODULE. IT WAS LATER LEARNED FROM THE OWNER THAT AN UNEXPLAINED HEADLIGHT OUTAGE HAD OCCURRED SOMETIME PRIOR TO THE FIRE AND THAT TURNING OFF THE ENGINE AND RESTARTING THE VEHICLE CAUSED THE HEADLIGHTS TO COME ON AGAIN. THE EVENT NEVER OCCURRED AGAIN. USING THE IN-CAR DIGITAL READOUT, WE BEGAN TO SEE STRANGE VOLTAGE READINGS IN THE CAR. THE VOLTAGE WOULD SOME TIMES READ AS LOW AS 12.6 VOLTS AND THEN WOULD START A STEADY CLIMB UP TO 14.4 VOLTS. IT MIGHT STAY THAT WAY FOR HOURS OR MIGHT SLOWLY DROP TO THE LOW LEVEL. THE FIRST TIME THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, I DON'T RECALL THE MESSAGE I ACTUALLY GOT; BUT I TOOK IT TO A DEALERSHIP AND THEY REPLACED AN EMISSION CONTROL ITEM WHICH SEEMED TO DO THE TRICK FOR AWHILE. EVENTUALLY, AS I WAS DRIVING ALONG SOME TIME LATER, THE MESSAGE "REDUCED ENGINE POWER" CAME UP; AND I COULD FEEL THE ENGINE IMMEDIATELY START TO DRAG. IN ABOUT 30 SECONDS TO A MINUTE, "TRACTION CONTROL OFF" OR SOMETHING SIMILAR COMES UP. I STOPPED TO LOOK AT THE MANUAL WHICH SAID TO SHUT THE ENGINE OFF, WAIT A FEW MINUTES, THEN START THE CAR AND THIS WOULD CLEAR THE CODE SO THAT THE CAR WOULD RUN NORMALLY. I DID THIS, AND I SAW THAT THE CAR WAS OPERATING MORE NORMALLY BUT THE "CHECK ENGINE LIGHT" STAYED ON. AFTER SEVERAL STOPS AND STARTS, THE LIGHT WENT OFF. ANOTHER GARAGE WHERE I HAD MY OIL CHANGED RAN THE CODES AND FOUND THAT P1125 - FUEL & AIR METERING AND P2138 THROTTLE/PEDAL POSITION WERE LISTED. I HAVE ONLY HAD THIS CAR 5 MONTHS AND I BOUGHT IT AT 55K MILES. WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT ABOUT 11:00PM ON A RAINY NIGHT I WAS STOPPED BY A STATE TROOPER WHO SAID MY HEADLIGHTS SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING.
