EXPERIENCED FRONT END VIBRATION ON DELIVERY. DEALER DID A WHEEL ALIGNMENT BUT A SLIGHT VIBRATION CONTINUED. EVENTUALLY IT INCREASED AND I TOOK IT TO A INDEPENDENT FOR BALANCING AND ROTATION BUT THE PROBLEM PERSISTED. THE DEALER ANALYZED IT AS "DEFECTIVE" TIRES ON THE FRONT AND REPLACED THEM. AS I DROVE HOME THE CAR PULLED TO THE RIGHT. TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY SWITCHED THE LEFT FRONT TO THE RIGHT AND THE RIGHT FRONT TO THE LEFT AND CLAIMED THAT WOULD FIX THE PROBLEM. THE CAR BEGAN TO SHIMMY AND VIBRATE BADLY. RETURNED TO THE DEALER AND THEY FOUND MY RIGHT FRONT BRAKE DEFECTIVE. AS I LEFT THE DEALER I NOTICED THAT THERE STILL IS A VIBRATION. TRIED FOR 10 DAYS TO HAVE GM TALK WITH THE DEALER BUT THEY CONTINUALLY TOLD ME THEY HAD NOT BEEN ABLE TO REACH THEM. BECAUSE THIS CAR HAD THE DEFECTIVE INSTRUMENT PANEL THAT NO ONE CAN SEE DURING DAYLIGHT HOURS, FRONT END AND BRAKE PROBLEMS I DEEMED THIS BUICK LUCERNE UNSAFE AND HAVE SOLD IT TO A DEALER. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 BUICK LUCERNE. THE TIE RODS IN THE VEHICLE WERE REPLACED TWICE WITHIN A THREE YEAR PERIOD. DURING THE FIRST FAILURE, THE VEHICLE BEGAN VIBRATING AND SHAKING WHENEVER THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE TIE RODS ON BOTH SIDES OF THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE RECURRED AFTER 18 MONTHS. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY TIGHTENED AND GREASED THE TIE RODS. THIS REPAIRED THE FAILURE FOR SIX MONTHS UNTIL IT OCCURRED AGAIN WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE TIE RODS AGAIN. THE CONTACT BELIEVES THAT THE TIE RODS WERE A MANUFACTURER DEFECT AND THEY SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE. DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE'S GAUGES WERE INTERMITTENTLY DIFFICULT TO READ DUE TO SUN GLARE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN INTO THE DEALER, WHO DETERMINED THE SAME THING AND ATTEMPTED TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM, BUT WAS UNSUCCESSFUL. VEHICLE HAD A SEVERE VIBRATION PROBLEM WHEN DELIVERED IN APRIL. A WHEEL ALIGNMENT WAS PERFORMED AT 125 MILES. NOW, AT 3750 MILES THE PROBLEM RETURNED BUT MUCH MORE PRONOUNCED. AT 45 MPH IT FELT LIKE A FLAT TIRE OR A WHEEL WAS LOOSE. THE DEALER INFORMED ME THAT THE TWO FRONT TIRES WERE DEFECTIVE AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. ON MY WAY HOME I EXPERIENCED A SLIGHT VIBRATION AND NOTICED THE CAR PULLING TO THE RIGHT. I RETURNED TO THE DEALER AND THEY SWAPPED TIRES FROM RIGHT TO LEFT. HOW WILL THIS IMPACT MY VEHICLE WHEN I NEXT ROTATE MY TIRES? THE VIBRATION PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. I AM FEARFUL THAT THIS VEHICLE IS UNSAFE AND, ONCE AGAIN, WILL RETURN TO MY DEALER FOR A SOLUTION. TIRES ARE CONTINENTAL P235-55R17 WHICH THE NHTSA SITE DOES NOT HAVE AS AN OPTION WHEN FILLING OUT THE "COMPONENT" SECTION OF THIS REPORT. *NM
I HAVE A DEFECTIVE GAS GAUGE WHICH WILL MOVE UP AND DOWN WHILE DRIVING. AT TIMES WHEN I FILL UP IT WILL REGISTER 3/4 WHEN IN FACT IT IS FULL. DUE TO THIS FAILURE I FILL UP EVERY TIME I GO MORE THAN 200 MILES. TO ACCOMPLISH THIS I MUST KEEP A SHEET AND ENTER EVERY TIME I FILL UP AND MUST REMEMBER TO TURN THE TRIP MILEAGE BACK TO ZERO EACH TIME. I HAVE BEEN IN CONTACT WITH GM SINCE NOVEMBER OF 2006 AND ALL THEY SAY IS "ITS A DESIGN CHANGE".CAR WAS PURCHASED IN JUNE 2006 BUT I DID NOT NOTICE IT TILL OCTOBER 2006 BECAUSE MY WIFE HAD GONE THROUGH MAJOR BACK SURGERY IN MAY 2006 AND I WAS TOO BUSY CARING FOR HER AND RUN THE HOUSE TO NOTICE THE GAS GAUGE. *TR
1. NORMAL LANE CHANGE FROM CENTER LANE TO RIGHT LANE AT APPROX. 65 MPH, MARYLAND INTERSTATE 95 NORTH MILE MARKER 104.8 2. VEHICLE VEERED SHARPLY RIGHT WITH NO CONTROL OF STEERING RESULTING IN 4 SPINS AND TRAVELING BACKWARDS WITH BRAKES ON POSSIBLY 200 FT. BEFORE STRIKING AN EMBANKMENT RESULTING IN SEVERE DAMAGE TO VEHICLE. NO AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THERE WAS NO CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE DURING THIS INCIDENT. 3. IS IN A BODY SHOP WAITING INVESTIGATION AND REPAIR/REPLACEMENT. *NM
TL*-THE CONTACT STATED THAT HIS 2006 BUICK LUCERNE DRIVER SIDE EXTERIOR MIRROR DOESN'T ADJUST OUTWARD OR HIGH ENOUGH FOR THE CONTACT TO SEE THE BLIND SPOTS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE MIRROR SHOULD BE ABLE TO SEE THREE LANES OVER, AND HIS MIRRORS ON THIS VEHICLE DIDN'T DO THAT. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP, AND THEY INFORMED HIM THAT THEY WERE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM OF OTHER COMPLAINTS, BUT THEY COULDN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT THE WAY THE VEHICLE WAS DESIGNED. DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE ACCELERATING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE PULLED TO THE RIGHT. THE DEALERSHIP ALIGNED THE VEHICLE 4 TIMES, REPLACED THE TIRES AND INSTALLED A 5 MM THICK SHIM TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM. ALTHOUGH THE REPAIRS WERE MADE, THE VEHICLE STILL PULLED TO THE RIGHT. DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE'S INSTRUMENT PANEL HAD POOR ILLUMINATION DURING THE DAY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO DETERMINED THAT THE ILLUMINATION WAS NORMAL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THEIR WERE OTHER CONSUMERS EXPERIENCING SIMILAR PROBLEMS VIA THE NHTSA WEBSITE ODI #10150699. UPDATED 10/31/2006 - THE CONSUMER FEELS THAT THE POOR ILLUMINATION IS A SAFETY ISSUE. *NM
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 BUICK LUCERNE. WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE IT PULLED TO THE RIGHT CONTINOUSLY. THE DEALER REPAIRED THE VEHICLE ON 2/15/07 AND THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT BELIEVED THE FAILURE WAS THE TORQUE CONVERTER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 200. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 7,500. *AK
I CANNOT ADJUST THE DRIVER'S SIDE EXTERIOR MIRROR TO A SAFE POSITION FOR VIEWING PASSING TRAFFIC. I AM 6'2", AND MIRROR CANNOT BE RAISED HIGH ENOUGH OR FAR ENOUGH TO THE LEFT TO SAFELY COVER ADJOINING LANE. DEALER CHECKED SIMILAR MODELS IN INVENTORY; SAID THEY ALL HAVE SAME LIMITATION. I HAVE NEVER HAD A CAR WITH SUCH AN EXTREME LIMITATION ON ADJUSTMENT OF THE OUTSIDE MIRROR FOR THE DRIVER. THIS IS VERY UNSAFE FOR ALL DRIVING CONDITIONS. FAILURE IS CONTINUOUS. *NM
INSTRUMENT GAUGES DO NOT GIVE ACCURATE READINGS. *JB
I PURCHASED A NEW 2006 BUICK LUCERNE CXL IN 2006. I HAVE NUMEROUS TIMES EXPERIENCED ACCELERATION IN MY VEHICLE. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO A BUICK DEALER AND THEY DROVE IT AND SAY THEY DIDN'T NOTICE IT. I HAVE ALSO TALKED TO A GMC DEALER IN THE LAST SEVERAL YEARS AND ASKED IT ANYONE ELSE HAS HAD A VEHICLE THAT JUST SPEEDS UP ON IT'S OWN. I AM FROM A VERY SMALL TOWN IN MISSOURI AND 3 OTHER PEOPLE HAVE PURCHASED THE SAME BUICK LUCERNE AS MINE AND ONE OF THEM SAYS HE THINKS HIS VEHICLE MAY HAVE SPED UP BEFORE, BUT HE THINKS HE MAY HAVE LET THE CRUISE CONTROL ON. THE FIRST TIME THIS VEHICLE DID THIS TO ME WAS ON MY WAY TO THE LAKE OF THE OZARKS. I COME FROM A SMALL TOWN THERE IS REALLY NO WHERE THAT I CAN USE THE CRUISE CONTROL EXCEPT ON LARGER TRIPS. WE HAVE A LOT OF HILLS AND CURVES. GOING TO THE LAKE OF THE OZARKS THE SPEED LIMIT IS 70. I USED THE CRUISE CONTROL. I GOT BEHIND A TRAILER THAT WAS GOING VERY SLOW AND TRAFFIC WAS A LITTLE BUSY, SO I APPLIED THE BRAKES AND WHEN TRAFFIC WAS CLEAR I PASSED THE TRAILER. I WAS GOING TO RESUME THE CRUISE CONTROL, BUT BEFORE I EVEN TOUCHED THE BUTTON, MY CAR TOOK OFF AND I WAS AT 93 MILES AN HOUR AND I HIT THE BRAKE AND IT WOULD NOT STOP. I THEN TAPPED THE BRAKES SEVERAL TIMES QUICKLY AND IT STARTED TO SLOW DOWN. WHEN I GOT THE SPEED DOWN TO 55, I THEN APPLIED MY FOOT BACK TO THE GAS PEDAL AND WHEN I DID, THE GAS PEDAL WAS NOT DOWN OR STUCK, BUT I COULD FEEL A LITTLE SOMETHING IN IT. THIS IS SOMETHING YOU DO NOT FEEL IN IT ALL THE TIME. I TRIED TO FIGURE OUT WHAT HAPPENED AND TOLD MY HUSBAND ABOUT IT AND HE SAID YOU MUST HAS HIT SOMETHING WRONG. I SAID NO I'M TELLING YOU IT DID IT ON IT'S OWN. I GO TO WORK AT 4:00 AM IN THE MORNING. WHERE I LIVE THERE IS A LOT OF DEER, SO I DO NOT DRIVE FAST FOR ABOUT 3 MILES TO WORK. ONE MORNING I WAS DRIVING ON A STRAIGHT STRETCH AND WHEN I CAME TO ABOUT THE TOP OF A LITTLE HILL MY CAR AGAIN DID THE SAME THING. IT JUST TAKES OFF AND IT CATCHES YOU OFF GUARD. *TR
MY 2006 BUICK LUCERNE CXS V8 DRIVERS SEAT IS OFFSET TO THE RIGHT OF THE STEERING WHEEL. UPON PERSONAL INVESTIGATION IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE OEM SUPPLIER OF THE DRIVERS SIDE AIRBAG HAD A LOT OF PROBLEMS PASSING DEPLOYMENT SPECIFICATIONS SO AS A LAST RESORT BUICK (GM) DECIDED TO MOVE THE SEAT INSTEAD. THIS IS VERY UNCOMFORTABLE TO DRIVE AND I REALLY WONDER HOW WELL THE AIRBAG WILL DEPLOY IN A SIDE IMPACT CRASH. I'VE CONTACTED GM AND THE DEALER AND GET THE RUNAROUND AND WAS EVEN TOLD BY ONE OF THE DEALERS SERVICE MEN THAT ALL CARS ARE DESIGNED LIKE THAT! *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE TRAVELING 40 MPH, THERE WAS HEAVY CONDENSATION ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE FRONT WINDSHIELD. THE TEMPERATURE WAS SET AT 72 DEGREES WITH THE A/C ON AND THE DIALS SET ON WINDSHIELD DEFROSTER/LOWER LEG. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED WHO DETERMINED THE VEHICLE WAS OPERATING NORMALLY. ON 09/18/06, THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND A SAFETY COMPLAINT WAS FILED. UPDATED 10/3/2006 - *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE BRAKES VIBRATED GOING DOWNHILL. THE BRAKING WAS NORMAL AT ALL OTHER TIMES. THE SERVICE DEALER CHANGED THE ROTORS, BUT THAT DID NOT REMEDY THE PROBLEM.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS WERE DIM DURING THE DAY AND THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WAS NOT READABLE. THE DEALERSHIP DETERMINED THAT WAS HOW THE VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 BUICK LUCERNE. WHILE ACCELERATING FROM A STOP OR MAKING A TURN, THE VEHICLE STALLS BUT DOES NOT SHUT OFF. THE FAILURE OCCURS INTERMITTENTLY AT ANY SPEED. THE DEALER INSTALLED AN OXYGEN SENSOR IN HOPES THAT IT WOULD ALLEVIATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TAKEN TO THE DEALER SIX TIMES, BUT THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE DID NOT SHOW A CODE. THE FAILURE STILL PERSISTS. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 12,240 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 660.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 BUICK LUCERNE. WHENEVER THE VEHICLE IS DRIVEN AT ANY SPEED DURING THE DAYTIME, THE CONTACT CANNOT READ THE INSTRUMENT PANEL GAUGES, MAINLY THE SPEEDOMETER. THE DEALER HAS NOT BEEN NOTIFIED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 9,200 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 200. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONSUMER THEY HAD A MODULE THAT WOULD INCREASE THE INTENSITY OF THE DASH LIGHTS. DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING DOWNHILL WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL ACTIVATED, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT SLOW DOWN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DETERMINED THE VEHICLE WAS DESIGNED THAT WAY.
DASH INSTRUMENTS AND GAUGES ARE NOT VISIBLE IN DAYTIME. RUN OFF ROAD TRYING TO SEE SPEEDOMETER TO SET CRUISE CONTROL. DASH LIGHTS ARE COMPLETELY OFF IN DAYLIGHT, MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO SEE DASH INSTRUMENTS. CONTACTED DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. CONTACTED GM AND THEY TELL ME THAT IT IS A DESIGN FLAW AND IT IS NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY. I HAVE FOUND OUT THAT OTHERS HAVE HAD SAME PROBLEM. IT IS ON BUICK LUCERNE 2006, ALSO UNDERSTAND 2007'S HAVE SAME PROBLEM. IT IS NOT ON ALL CARS AS I UNDERSTAND IT. IT IS DANGEROUS TO OPERATE CAR. MAY CAUSE TO RUN OFF ROAD OR CROSS CENTER AND HAVE WRECK TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT SPEED CAR IS GOING. NEEDS TO BE FIXED. *NM
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 BUICK LUCERNE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AT 6,000 MILES, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE MOTORS WIRING HARNESS HAD FALLEN INTO THE MANIFOLD AND BURNED SOME WIRES. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED IN AUGUST OF 2006. IN SEPTEMBER OF 2006, WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY SHUT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC. IN OCTOBER OF 2006, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START AGAIN. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE MECHANIC, BUT NO FAILURES WERE FOUND BECAUSE THE VEHICLE STARTED IMMEDIATELY. TWO WEEKS LATER, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START AGAIN. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER AND IT WOULD NOT START FOR THEM AS WELL. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE IGNITION WIRE CODE APPEARED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED AND THEY MADE THE REPAIR. AFTER THE REPAIR WAS MADE, WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH DOWNHILL, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT PLACED THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL AND IT RESTARTED. THE BUICK DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. FIVE DAYS LATER, THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF AND FAILED TO RESTART. THE DEALER KEPT THE VEHICLE FOR FIVE DAYS AND STATED THAT THE CAUSE OF FAILURE WAS THE WIRING HARNESS AND A BURNED MODULE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 21,674 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 6,354.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE STEERING FEELS LIGHT AND WANDERS EASILY IF NOT PAYING ATTENTION. THE CONSUMER INDICATED THAT HIS HANDS MUST BE ON THE STEERING WHEEL AT ALL TIMES. THE STEERING FEELS AS IF THERE IS NOT ENOUGH POS CASTER. WHILE TURNING IN OR OUT OF DRIVEWAYS THE CONSUMER FELLS A THUMP IN THE STEERING WHEEL. THE DASH GAUGES ARE DIFFICULT TO SEE WHILE DRIVING THE DAYTIME. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED BY A DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. UPDATED 8/21/2006 - *NM
TL*- THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE 2006 BUICK LUCERNE WOULD NOT MOVE FORWARD AFTER THE VEHICLE CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP. THE CONTACT WAITED APPROXIMATELY 25 SECONDS BEFORE HE WAS ABLE TO PROCEED. HE HAD TO PUSH THE ACCELERATOR A COUPLE OF TIMES BEFORE THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED. ALSO, THE VEHICLE WOULD ACCELERATE BY ITSELF WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT STATED THERE WAS NO PARTICULAR TIME OF THE DAY, AND THE ROAD CONDITIONS HAVE BEEN CLEAR DURING EVERY OCCURRENCE. THE CONTACT SPOKE WITH DEALERSHIP, AND THEY INSTALLED A DATA PROCESSOR, THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED TO PUSH DATA PROCESSOR BUTTON WHEN PROBLEMS OCCURRED. THE VEHICLE HAS NOW STARTED TO GIVE FALSE WARNINGS. THE VEHICLE TRACTION CONTROL INDICATOR ILLUMINATED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS NOT MOVING. ALSO, RECEIVED A SERVICE BRAKE ASSISTANCE WARNING WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS NOT MOVING. THE VEHICLE CURRENTLY HAD 12000 MILES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 7500.*AK
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 BUICK LUCERNE. WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN 20-50 MPH, THE VEHICLE PULLED TO THE RIGHT. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BY THE DEALER FIVE TIMES, WHICH INCLUDED AN ALIGNMENT, THE TIRES AND RIMS WERE CHANGED, AND A POWER STEERING PART WAS REPLACED. YET, THE FAILURE STILL OCCURRED. I HAVE HAD AN ONGOING ISSUE WITH OUR INABILITY TO VIEW THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AT VARIOUS TIMES AND IN VARYING LIGHT CONDITIONS. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH BUICK AND I HAVE CONTACTED THEM MANY TIMES OVER THE LAST 24 MONTHS (OR SO) FOR A RESOLUTION. TO DATE NONE IS FORTHCOMING, ONLY PROMISES OF A FUTURE FIX. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE IT IS DISTRACTING AND CAN LEAD TO DRIVER INATTENTION CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. CANNOT DETERMINE VEHICLE SPEED AT TIMES. BUICK IS AWARE OF THIS SERIOUS SAFETY DEFECT. *TR
DETAILS: I HAVE THE BUICK LUCERNE V8 MODEL AND IT PULLS TO THE RIGHT. I HAVE NOW HAD THE CAR IN THE SHOP TWO TIMES FOR THIS PROBLEM. IT STILL IS NOT FIXED. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT. I BELIEVE THIS IS A DANGER TO ME THE DRIVER AND TO THE PUBLIC. *JB
BUICK LUCERNE CX-L, 4 DOOR SEDAN, VIN[XXX] THE SAFETY ISSUE IS THAT THE BUICK LUCERNE'S DRIVER'S SIDEVIEW MIRROR CANNOT BE ADJUSTED FOR ME TO SEE CARS IN THE DRIVER'S BLIND SPOT. ALSO CANNOT ADJUST THE BUICK LUCERNE'S DRIVER'S SIDEVIEW MIRROR TO GIVE A SAFE VIEW WHEN ENTERING AN INTERSTATE HIGHWAY. I HAVE TRIED ADJUSTING THE DRIVER'S SEAT TO DIFFERENT POSITIONS, OTHER THEN MY PREFERRED POSITION, AND CANNOT OBTAIN A SAFE SIDE VIEW. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 BUICK LUCERNE. THE ENTIRE INSTRUMENT PANEL WAS DIFFICULT TO READ IN THE DAY LIGHT BECAUSE THE LIGHTS WERE WHITE. AT NIGHT, THE LIGHTS ARE GREEN AND VERY CLEAR. DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE STEERING LINKAGE BOLTS DETACHED CAUSING STEERING FAILURE. THE CONTACT ALSO EXPRESSED THE NUTS USED WITH THE STEERING LINKAGE WERE NOT FROM THE FACTORY, THEREFORE RESULTING THE DETACHMENT OF THE BOLTS.

INSTRUMENT PANEL (SPEEDOMETER, GAS GAUGE, TEMP GAUGE TACH) ARE NOT BACK LIGHTED DURING DAYLIGHT DRIVING. WHEN IT IS CLOUDY BUT NOT DARK ENOUGH FOR THE LIGHT SENSOR TO TURN ON THE NIGHT MODE, IT IS DIFFICULT TO SEE THESE INSTRUMENTS AND WHEN YOU HAVE SUNGLASSES ON IT IS IMPOSSIBLE. THIS IS A DRIVING HAZARD BECAUSE YOU DO NOT KNOW HOW FAST YOUR ARE DRIVING OR THE STATE OF YOUR FUEL. THIS IS THE 2006 BUICK LUCERNE. *JB

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 BUICK LUCERNE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE'S DASHBOARD INDICATOR LIGHTS WERE NOT VISIBLE WHILE DRIVING IN SUNNY CONDITIONS. HOWEVER, THE DASHBOARD INDICATOR LIGHTS ILLUMINATED IN THE EVENINGS. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. APPROXIMATELY FOUR MONTHS LATER, THE VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT TO ANOTHER DEALER. THE DEALER REPLACED THE LIGHTING PANEL AS A CORRECTION ISSUED BY BUICK IN TECHNICAL SERVIC EBULLETIN #189. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PANEL REPLACEMENT DID NOT SOLVE THE FAILURE. PURCHASED 2006 BUICK LUCERNE, JUNE 24,2006 FROM SCOTT BUICK, OF PINELLAS PARK, FL. WE DROVE IT DOWN THE ROAD 4 MILES AND TURNED BACK TO RETURN IT TO DEALER . THE STEERING WAS PULLING TO THE RIGHT REAL BAD. DEALERS SERVICE DEPT CHECKED THE MECHANICS OF THE STEERING AND COULD FIND ANY REASON FOR THE PULLING TO THE RIGHT. RELEASED IT TO US ON JUNE 26,AND AFTER A COUPLE MILES DOWN THE ROAD WE PROMPTLY RETURNED AGAIN TO THE DEALER. THEY LOOKED FOR A GM BULLETIN REGARDING THIS PROBLEM THIS TIME, THEY SERVICED IT ACCORDING TO THE BULLETIN SPEC'S, ON THE 28TH. THAT DID NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM TOTALLY THIS MAKES 3 TIMES IT WAS IN SERVICE FOR THIS PROBLEM. THE STEERING PROBLEM STILL EXIST AS OF TODAY JULY 22, 2006 THIS SHOULD BE CONSIDERED A SAFETY PROBLEM WITH THE AUTO. *NM

INITIALLY THE AUTO HESITATED AND THEN ACCELERATE. REPORTED TO DEALER ON 09/18/06. MILEAGE WAS 7,291.. THEN THE AUTO WOULD STALL WHEN DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, AT ONE TIME AT 60 MPH ON THE GARDEN STATE PARKWAY. VARIOUS FIXES BY THE DEALER FAILED TO STOP THE PROBLEM. HAVE ALL DOCUMENTATION. THE CONTACT MUST FOCUS ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL, WHILE TRYING TO READ THE GAUGES SINCE THEY ARE POORLY ILLUMINATED. THE SERVICE DEALER AGREED THERE WAS A PROBLEM AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 20MPH OR MORE, THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE CONTINUOUSLY PULLS TO THE RIGHT SIDE WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY A DEALER WHO PERFORMED SEVERAL ALIGNMENTS, ROTATED THE TIRES, AND REBUILT THE STEERING RACK AND PINION. AFTERWARDS, THE FRONT SUSPENSION PROBLEM PERSISTED AND THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALERTED.
I WAS TRAVELING EAST ON INTERSTATE 80 BETWEEN THE CA/NV BORDER AND EAST RENO. IN TWO INSTANCES I ENCOUNTERED PAVEMENT THAT WAS GROOVED (IN THE DIRECTION OF THE ROAD). I WAS INITIALLY TRAVELING AT ABOUT 65 MPH. I WAS DRIVING A NEW 2006 BUICK LUCERNE V-8 VIN IG4HE5Y76U157759 WITH BRIDGESTONE TURANZA EL 400 TIRES. WHEN I DROVE ON THE GROOVED PAVEMENT, I ALMOST LOST CONTROL OF THE CAR BECAUSE THE FRONT WHEELS WOBBLED SO BADLY THAT IT FORCE THE CAR TO WEAVE AND IT WAS DIFFICULT TO HOLD THE STEERING WHEEL STEADY. THIS HAPPENED IN THE AREA WEST OF RENO IN THE MOUNTAINS AND AGAIN IN AN AREA IN RENO WHERE THE PAVEMENT WAS ALSO GROOVED. NORMALLY, THIS CAR IS REMARKABLY STEADY, SO THIS WAS A TOTALLY UNEXPECTED AND DISCONCERTING INCIDENT. FORTUNATELY, WHEN I SLOWED TO 45 MPH I WAS ABLE TO CONTROL THE CAR BETTER UNTIL I PASSED THAT SECTION OF PAVEMENT. *NM

THE CONSUMER STATED AFTER THE VEHICLE IS IN THE SUNLIGHT FOR A PERIOD OF TIME, THE DASH LIGHTS DIM, HE IS UNABLE TO READ THE INTRUMENT PANEL, SUCH AS THE SPEEDOMETER AND OTHER INSTURMENTS.
