The contact owns a 2006 Cadillac SRX. The contact stated that he noticed that oil was leaking on the garage floor. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where it was diagnosed that the oil-sending unit needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired five times, but the failure persisted. The dealer declined to repair the vehicle again. The manufacturer was contacted and informed of the failure but provided no additional assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 68,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CADILLAC SRX. WHILE STATIONARY, THE VEHICLE'S MOTOR FAILED TO STOP RUNNING AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS SHUT OFF. DIRECTLY AFTER THE AIR CONDITIONING UNIT WAS SHUT OFF ALONG WITH THE VEHICLE, THERE WAS A NOISE THAT CAME FROM UNDER THE HOOD THAT SEEMED TO BE COMING FROM A SECONDARY MOTOR WITHIN THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 35,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT FOR REPLACEMENT OF TIMING CHAINS, SPROCKETS, ACTUATORS, GUIDES, TENSIONER ALL MAJOR ENGINES PARTS NEEDING REPLACEMENT ON A CADILLAC WELL CARED FOR AT BARELY 100K. CONTACTED GM, GAVE RUN AROUND FOR WEEKS AND DENY THE FACT THAT THERE IS PREMATURE ENGINE WEARING ISSUES W NO COMPENSATION ON THESE 40K CARS, THEY CREATED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THE SAME ISSUES ON SAME ENGINES IN DIFFERENT YR MODEL CARS AND SAME EXACT MODEL AS WELL. VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. *TR
THERE IS A P008 CODE THAT ONSTAR DETECTED AND SAID I MAY HAVE ENGINE PROBLEMS. THIS WOULD ENABLE THE CAR TO HAVE PERFORMANCE ISSUES. I CALLED GM CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY WANT ME TO PAY TO HAVE ANOTHER DIAGNOSTIC TEST DONE AND DOES NOT WANT TO REPAIR MY CAR WHICH I THINK THEY SHOULD BECAUSE MY CAR DOES NOT HAVE 100,000 MILES ON IT. THERE SHOULD NOT BE ENGINE PROBLEMS WITH A CAR THAT DOESN'T EVEN HAVE 100,000 MILES YET. *JS

TIMING CHAINS! CAR WAS PARKED, AND WENT TO START IT AND IT WOULDN'T START. HAD IT TOWED TO DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME IT WAS TIMING CHAINS AND $2800.00. IN DOING SOME RESEARCH, FOUND THAT 2004 - 2006 MODELS ARE HAVING ISSUES WITH THE OIL GETTING TO THE CHAINS PROPERLY, BECAUSE THE HOLE IS TOO SMALL TO LUBRICATE CHAINS. I BUY HIGH END CARS AND TAKE CARE OF THEM. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME A TIMING CHAIN HAS EVER GONE OUT ON ANY OF MY VEHICLES. (BEEN DRIVING 40 SOME YEARS) A MECHANIC HAS TOLD ME THAT THEY ARE SEEING MORE AND MORE OF THEM. I THINK THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL OR AT LEAST SOMEONE LOOKING INTO THIS. ANOTHER PERSON THAT I KNOW OF HAD THEIR 2004 CTS TIMING CHAINS GO OUT WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY AND IT BLEW THE ENGINE. *JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CADILLAC SRX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE ACCELERATING, THE REDUCED POWER TO ENGINE WARNING LIGHT FLASHED ON THE DASHBOARD. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 65 MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY REDUCED SPEED TO 20 MPH, ALMOST CAUSING A CRASH. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ONCE THE VEHICLE WAS SHUT OFF AND RESTARTED, THE VEHICLE WOULD THEN RESET ITSELF AND RESUME NORMALLY. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE OR LOCATE THE FAILURE BECAUSE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS NOT ILLUMINATED AT THE TIME. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000.
MY 2006 CADILLAC SRX HAS A VERY HARD START UP AND ENGINE IS VERY LOUD WAS STARTING. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS CONSTANTLY ON. HAD CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CHECKED AND RETURN CODES ARE P0008 AND P0017. GM KNOWS THIS IS A PROBLEM IN THESE VEHICLES AND FAILS TO PLACE A RECALL OUT TO CORRECT THE ISSUE. I BUY NOTHING BUT CADILLACS BUT I AM VERY UPSET ABOUT THIS ISSUE!!!! I THINK GM REALLY NEEDS TO TAKE CARE OF THIS!!!!!! *TR
THE 3.6L MOTOR LEAKS SO MUCH OIL THAT WHEN IT GETS LOW IT CREATES A MISFIRE CONDITION AND CAUSE THE VEHICLE MISFIRE LIGHT TO COME ON AND POWER LOSS TO HAPPEN. CHECK YOUR OIL OFTEN!!!! *TR
THE TIMING CHAIN/BELT IN 2006 CADILLAC SRX IS DEFECTIVE. IT COULD BE THE CRANK SHAFT RUBBING ON THE TIMING CHAIN. I CALLED GM THERE IS A RECALL FOR 2007 - 2010 THE RESPONSE I RECEIVED WAS HOW LONG DO I EXPECT GM TO OWN MY VEHICLE. I HAVE SPOKE TO SEVERAL CAR DEALERS WHO TELL ME THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH THIS YEAR AND MODEL AND FIXING IT WILL NOT STOP IT FROM HAPPENING AGAIN. THE ESTIMATE FROM THE DEALER IS $3500.00 I AM VERY UPSET OVER THIS. *TR
