TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET COBALT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE THE GEAR SELECTOR WAS IN THE PARK POSITION, THE IGNITION KEY WOULD NOT RELEASE. THE CONTACT COULD ONLY REMOVE THE KEY WHEN ENGAGING THE IGNITION KEY RELEASE SWITCH. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WHENEVER THE IGNITION WAS PLACED IN THE IGNITION. AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT FAILURE WAS A COMMON PROBLEM. THE FAILURE HAD NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED WHEN THE COMPLAINT WAS FILED. POWER STEERING WENT OUT. *TR
MY 2006 CHEVROLET COBALT LS 4 DOOR SEDAN HAS THE POWER STEERING GO OUT QUITE FREQUENTLY, TWO DAYS AGO MY GIRLFRIEND WAS DRIVING IT AND WAS STOPPED AT A T-INTERSECTION. AFTER MAKING THE STOP SHE PROCEEDED TO MAKE A LEFT HAND TURN, AT THAT TIME THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED UNCONTROLLABLY AND SHE ENDED UP WITH ALL FOUR TIRES JUMPING THE CURB. I DO NOT KNOW IF THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT AT THAT PARTICULAR MOMENT, EVERYTHING HAPPENED PRETTY QUICK. ALL I KNOW IS I HAVE NUMEROUS CONCERNS AS TO THIS CARS ROAD RELIABILITY. *TR
I OWN A 2006 CHEVY COBALT. IN THE PAST WEEK MY WIFE AND I HAVE NOTICED A STRONG ODOR OF FUEL IN THE PASSENGER CABIN AND AROUND THE VEHICLE AFTER WE HAVE STOPPED. I CALLED CHEVY AND THEY TELL ME THEIR IS NO RECALL ON MY VEHICLE FOR FUEL PROBLEMS. HOWEVER, I SEE THE THAT THERE IS A RECALL ON THE SAME YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL FOR FUEL ISSUES THAT ARE EERILY SIMILAR TO MINE. THE GENTLEMAN FROM GM SAID THAT CHEVY WOULD NOT COVER THIS ISSUE. I BELIEVE THAT THIS IS A CHEVY ISSUE AND THAT THE NHTSA SHOULD GET INVOLVED WITH THIS. *TR
ELECTRIC POWER STEERING STOPS WORKING AND "POWER STEERING " APPEARS ON THE DISPLAY. IF THE CAR IS SHUT OFF AND RESTARTED THE POWER STEERING WILL WORK AGAIN. THIS HAS HAPPENED MORE AND MORE FREQUENTLY SINCE THE FIRST OCCURRENCE LAST WEEK. IT NOW HAPPENS 5-10 TIMES PER DAY ON A 15 MILE ROUND TRIP COMMUTE. I CALLED THE DEALER TODAY AND WAS TOLD THAT THE RECALL DID NOT APPLY TO MY WIFE'S CAR, IT IS SCHEDULED FOR SERVICE ON FRIDAY JUNE 18, 2010. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET COBALT. WHILE PARKED, THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO RELEASE THE KEY FROM THE IGTION SWITCH AFTER NUMEROUS ATTEMPTS. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO ADVISED THE CONTACT TO HAVE THE VEHICLE INSPECTED BY A DEALER. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET COBALT. THE CONTACT HAD THE VEHICLE REPAIRED ACCORDING TO RECALL 10V073000 (STEERING: ELECTRIC POWER ASSIST SYSTEM). THE DEALER CHANGED THE CODE, BUT MADE NO MENTION OF REPLACING THE ELECTRONIC POWER ASSIST. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF FIRST GEAR. WHEN DRIVING, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AND GEAR SHIFTER BECAME STUCK IN FIRST GEAR. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 89,887.
ON JUNE SEVENTH, 2010, I WAS DRIVING ON THE I-95 EXPRESSWAY. SUDDENLY, I LOST THE CONTROL OF MY CAR WHICH WAS HIT BY ANOTHER CAR DRIVEN FOR REYMY W. PORTES (CRASH REPORT # [XXX]). ON FEBRUARY 21TH, 2011, MY HUSBAND, [XXX] HAD SIMILAR ACCIDENT WITH HIS 2008 CHEVY COBALT. THE FACT THAT BOTH CRASHES WERE SO SIMILAR MADE DUBIOUS ABOUT OUR RESPONSIBILITY ON THEM. ON DECEMBER 12, 2011 MY HUSBAND PRESENTED A COMPLAINT TO F. H.S. M. V. D. M. S. (COMPLAINT # [XXX]), ON DECEMBER 16, 2011 ITS ANSWER WAS: ?YOUR COMPLAINTS DO NOT FALL WITHIN ITS JURISDICTION. DEJECTED, HE DIDN?T ANY MORE ACTION. I HAVE JUST RECEIVED FROM GM A WARNING ABOUT A DEFECT WHICH RELATES TO MOTOR VEHICLES SAFETY EXISTS IN 2005-2007 MODEL YEAR (MY) CHEVROLET COBALT, THEN I READ ON TV NEWS, AND INTERNET, THAT GM ISSUED THAT IT'S POSSIBLE THAT THE AIR BAGS MIGHT NOT DEPLOY IF THERE IS AN ACCIDENT?. IN THIS MOMENT WE REALIZED THAT BOTH THE 2006 AND 2008 CHEVY COBALT AIR BAGS? DID NOT DEPLOY, REGARDLESS BOTH VEHICLES CRASHES WERE ON FRONT BUMPER AND MAROONE COLLISION CENTER CHARGE TO ALLSTATE THE AMOUNT OF $4183.16 TO REPAIR MY CAR. WE HAVE RECEIVED A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF LETTERS FROM LAWYERS, AS WELL AS ALLSTATE INSURANCE DEALING WITH INJURES DAMAGES AND MONETARY COMPENSATION. ALLSTATE PAID TO MR. PORTES THE SUM OF $3 000, CONSEQUENTLY OUR ALLSTATE INSURANCE PREMIUM WAS RAISED SUBSTANTIALLY. THIS ENTIRE SITUATION HAD CAUSED STRESS, ECONOMIC PROBLEMS AND LACK OF CONFIDENCE IN BOTH MY WIFE I. BECAUSE BOTH CRASHES HAPPENED IN THE AFTERNOON RUSH HOUR, I-95 TRAFFIC WAS CROWDED AND SLOW, BUT IN OTHER CONDITIONS AND AS CONSEQUENCE OF AIR BAG MALFUNCTION MY WIFE AND MIGHT HAVE DIED. FOR THE REASONS EXPLAINING ABOVE, I, THE WRITER, DEMAND FROM GM A MONETARY COMPENSATION FOR THE PSYCHOLOGICAL, LEGAL, AND MONETARY PROBLEMS CAUSED BY MY CAR MALFUNCTION. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY A MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE FUEL SYSTEM RELATED TO THE FUEL PUMP, BUT THE CONTACT WAS TOLD THAT HIS VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA RECALL CAMPAIGN NUMBER 09V419000, FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:DELIVERY:FUEL PUMP. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 119000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 122000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET COBALT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD MAKE A CHIMING SOUND, FOLLOWED BY THE ILLUMINATION OF THE POWER STEERING WARNING LIGHT. THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD THEN BECOME EXTREMELY HARD TO MANEUVER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING WOULD RESET ITSELF ONCE THE VEHICLE WAS SHUT OFF AND BACK ON. HOWEVER, THE FAILURE WOULD RECUR WITHIN A FEW TRAVELED MILES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED AND THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000 AND THE CURRENT WAS UNKNOWN.
MY CHEVY COBALT 2006, HAS HAD THE ISSUE WITH THE EMERGENCY AIR BAG LIGHTING UP AND SAYING IT IS OFF AND I GET THE MESSAGE THAT THE "AIR BAG NEEDS TO BE SERVICED". I HAVE LESS THAN 45 THOUSAND MILES. AROUND JUNE 2010, MY MOTHER AND I WERE IN THE CAR AND WE WERE ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN WE HEARD THE BEEPING SOUND AND THE AIRBAG LIGHT TURNED ON, MEANING THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG WAS OFF. IT IS SUPPOSE TO TURN ON AUTOMATICALLY, BUT HAS NOT. EVERY TIME WE START THE CAR THE BEEPING SOUND STARTS AND THE PASSENGER SIDE HAS NO AIRBAG PROTECTION. I HAVE NOTICED THAT MANY PEOPLE ARE WHO HAVE THE CHEVY COBALT HAVE THE SAME ISSUE. *TR
ALL OF MY ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS GO CRAZY INCLUDING THE GAUGES, RADIO, HEADLIGHTS, POWER BREAKS/ STEERING. THE CAR ALSO STALLS UPON STOPPING AND IN TRAFFIC(USUALLY GOING OVER 40MPH). IT HAS STALLED SEVERAL TIMES IN TRAFFIC CAUSING OTHER CARS TO SWERVE OR SLAM ON THEIR BRAKES. IM SHOCKED I HAVEN'T BEEN HIT YET. THEN THE CAR WILL ALSO OVERACCELARATE. ON ONE OCCASION I BARELY TOUCHED THE GAS TO PULL AWAY FROM A STOP SIGN AND THE CAR ACCELERATED VERY QUICKLY THROUGH THE INTERSECTION AND INTO THE PARK ACROSS THE STREET. AFTER ALL THIS HAPPENS THE BATTERY WILL DIE AND THE KEY WILL GET STUCK IN THE IGNITION. THE SAME BASIC CYCLE OCCURS EVERY FEW MONTHS. I HAVE HAD IT TO THE DEALERSHIP FOUR TIMES THIS WEEK ALONE AND EACH TIME IT ACTS UP AGAIN WITHIN HOURS. THEY DO NOT SEEM TO HAVE ANY IDEA HOW TO FIX IT EITHER. *TR
STEERING LOCKS UP. *TR
I OWN A 2006 CHEVROLET COBALT SS AND MY WIFE WAS DRIVING ON A 100' HIGH FREEWAY AND SOMEONE CUT HER OFF WHILE THEY WERE MERGING INTO HER LANE SHE TRIED TO SWERVE OUT OF THE WAY AND SHE TOLD ME THAT WHEN SHE TRIED TO TURN THE WHEEL IT WAS VERY HARD TO DO SO AND THEN GOT EXTREMELY LOOSE AND CAUSED HER TO OVER CORRECT AND THEN SHE HIT THE SIDE CONCRETE GUARD RAIL AND THEN ROLLED AND LANDED WITH THE HOVERING ABOUT A 100' FROM HER DEATH. SHE WAS UNDER THE SPEED LIMIT, WEARING A SEATBELT, AIR BAGS DEPLOYED AND THE POLICE OFFICER'S WERE AMAZED THAT SHE DIDN'T GO OVER THE EDGE. I HAVE PHOTOS TO PROVIDE. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THE FAILURE WOULD OCCUR WHETHER THE KEY WAS IN THE IGNITION OR NOT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION OR REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. I SEE THERE ARE ISSUES ON THE FUEL MODULE ON THE 2006 CHEVY COBALTS, AND I TOOK IT TO GET REPLACED HOWEVER WHEN I TAKE MY CAR TO GET DIAGNOSED IT CONTINUES TO SAY THERE IS SOMETHING WITH A MISFIRE, AND MY FUEL EVAPORATING. I AM HAVING MULTIPLE PROBLEMS WITH MY 06 COBALTS AND HAS I HAVE DONE EXTENUOUS RESEARCH AND EVERY PROBLEM I'VE FOUND ONLINE OVER 1000 COMPLAINTS AND BLOGS, AND SITES WHERE CUSTOMERS ARE ALL COMPLAINING ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE. I AM A WORKING COLLEGE STUDENT AND DRIVE TO WORK AND SCHOOL EVERYDAY. MY CAR STOPPED ON THE FREEWAY THE OTHER DAY, AND ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT HOWEVER THE VEHICLE SLAMMED ON THEIR BRAKES. NOT ONLY THE FUEL LINE BUT ALSO MY CAR KEY DOES NOT COME OUT THE IGNITION. ALL THESE ISSUES ARE ONGOING AND I HAVE FOUND OVER 10,0000 UNSATISFIED CONSUMERS ALL WITH THE SAME ISSUES WITH THE COBALTS. THIS IS A BIG ISSUE, AND I AM TIRED OF DEALING WITH CHEVROLET AS THIS IS THERE PRODUCT AND THEY ARE ONLY TRYING TO GET THE MONEY AND MAKE YOU PAY FOR ALL THE SERVICES. IN APRIL 2010 MY DAUGHTER'S 2006 CHEVY COBALT'S CLUTCH WAS REPLACED. THERE WAS ABOUT 38,500 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. ALL THE REGULAR MAINTENANCES WHERE DONE TO KEEP THIS CAR IN SHAPE. THE TOTAL OF THE REPAIR WAS 1400.00 DOLLARS DOUBLED THAT OF THE CHEVY CAVALIER. YESTERDAY ON MAY 17TH SHE WAS DRIVING ON A BUSY STREET IN ALBUQUERQUE, NEW MEXICO AROUND 5PM TRAFFIC TIME. HER VEHICLE JUST STOPPED WENT DEAD WITH NO WARNING, SHE WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED. THE CAR'S BATTERY IS GOOD AND SHE HAD ABOUT HALF TANK OF GAS SO THOSE WEREN'T THE PROBLEMS. SHE PUSHED IT INTO THE NEAREST PARKING LOT AND WAITED BUT THE CAR WOULD NOT TURN OVER. THERE IS NO SOUND WHEN SHE TURNS THE CAR ON, THIS IS INSANE WITH THE PROBLEMS WE HAVE WITH THIS VEHICLE WITHIN A THREE YEAR PERIOD. THE DEALERS DO NOT CARE ABOUT THE COST WE ARE PUTTING INTO THIS VEHICLE BUT SOMETHING HAS TO BE DONE TO HELP THE CONSUMERS. MY OTHER DAUGHTER HAS THE SAME YEAR AND MAKE OF HER SISTER' COBALT THEY WERE BOUGHT ON THE SAME DAY. HER VEHICLE IS AN AUTOMATIC AND HER POWER STEERING IS GOING OUT ALREADY. THERE HAS TO BE SOMETHING WE COULD DO AS FRUSTRATED CONSUMERS. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET COBALT. WHILE DRIVING AT 5 MPH, THE KEY WAS DIFFICULT TO TAKE OUT OF THE IGNITION. THE CONTACT HAD TO CHANGE GEARS, TURN THE VEHICLE ON AND THEN BACK OFF TO PULL THE KEY OUT. THE CONTACT SPOKE WITH THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM WAS THE SHIFTER. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 76,000.
LOST CONTROL OF THE CAR GOING AROUND 50, ROLLED ACROSS THE ROAD AND THEN INTO A DITCH WHERE I HIT A TREE. CAR WAS TOTALED. *TR

THE VEHICLE BEGAN JERKING AND SHAKING EXCESSIVELY IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT SHUT OFF THE ENGINE AND WHEN RESTARTING, THE VEHICLE RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION. THE CONTACT STATED THE FAILURE OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES AND ON ONE OCCASION WHEN FIRST STARTING THE VEHICLE, THE POWER STEERING WOULD NOT OPERATE WHILE IN THE PARK POSITION. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 10V073000 (STEERING: ELECTRIC POWER ASSIST SYSTEM). THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED UNDER THE RECALL CAMPAIGN HOWEVER; THE FAILURE PERSISTED TWICE FOLLOWING RECALL REPAIRS. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT FURTHER REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 44,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 45,000. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET COBALT. THE CONTACT STATED WHEN DRIVING AT 10 MPH, THERE WAS AN UNUSUAL INCREASE IN ENGINE RPMS BEFORE THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY. THE CONTACT STATED THE FAILURE WOULD ONLY OCCUR WHEN DRIVING AT OFF-HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THE DEALER REPLACED THE MAT SENSOR YET THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE DEALER THEN PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC BUT COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE DIAGNOSTIC TEST DID NOT PRODUCE ANY FAILURE CODES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 100,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 107,182.
HAVING ACCIDENT BECAUSE POWER STEERING WENT OFF. THE CAR WAS IN SHOP (VARA CHEVROLET SAN ANTONIO,TX)ON APRIL 28, 2010. ASKING DEALER TO FIXED IT. SAYING NO PARTS. AFTER 2-3 WEEKS GOT AN ACCIDENT, DEALER STILL DID NOT HAVE PARTS. TOOK CAR TO THE SHOP. (BENSON CHEVROLET SAN ANTONIO TX) DEALER CALLED ALLSTATE WITHOUT ASKING OR INFORMING US. THEY DID NOT WANT TO PAY. CAR IS IN THE SHOP SINCE MAY 13 2010 UNTIL TODAY'S DATE (JUNE 27 2010) ASKING FOR RENTAL CAR. LOCAL DEALER AUTHORIZED IT. AFTER GMC CHEVROLET FOUND OUT WE PUT A COMPLAINT ON BBB CANCEL RENTAL MEANTIME THE CAR IS STILL IN THE SHOP. DUE TO THE COMPLAINT. THEY KNEW THE CONSEQUENCE WHY SENT LETTER WITHOUT NO PARTS AND NOW DO NOT WANT PAY FOR THE REPAIRS.THE CAR IS 2006 AND IT HAS 4 RECALLS. 1. FUEL PUMP. 2. THE AUTHORIZED DEALER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THERE WAS A RECALL UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID 10V073000 (STEERING: ELECTRIC POWER ASSIST SYSTEM). THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. HOWEVER, THE DEALER WOULD NOT PERFORM THE RECALL REMEDY REPAIR UNTIL THEY RECEIVED PAYMENT FROM THE MANUFACTURER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED WHICH STATED THAT THE DEALER WAS INDEPENDENTLY OWNED, AND WERE UNABLE TO ENFORCE THE SERVICE REPAIR. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.

THE DEALER WOULD GIVE THEM A TANK OF GAS FOR IT AN ALSO FOR ANY LETTER FROM GM ON RANKING THE LOCAL DEALER'S SERVICE FAVORABLY ONLY. I WAS DRIVING DOWN A DIRT ROAD TRAVELING BETWEEN 15 AND 20 MPH. I HAD MADE IT SAFELY UP THE ROAD AND DOWN THE ROAD TILL I STARTED TO TURN A CORNER. IT WAS A BLIND CORNER AND AS I STARTED TO TURN I NOTICED THE STEERING WAS REALLY TOUGH TO CONTROL.
