STARTED DOWN THE ROAD AND LOST CONTROL OF THE CAR THE POWER STEERING LIGHT CAME ON AND THERE WAS A LOT OF PLAY IN THE WHEEL. I THEN ATTEMPTED TO GET IT BACK HOME WHERE IT WAS VERY HARD TO TURN AND THE DASH COMPUTER WAS ALL HAYWIRE NOT SHOWING CORRECT DATA. THIS SUPPOSEDLY HAD BEEN FIXED UNDER A RECALL JUST 5 MONTHS PRIOR TO ME PURCHASING. *JS
I FIRST STARTED NOTICING A STRONG SMELL OF GASOLINE WHEN I FILLED MY CAR UP AND PARKED IT IN MY GARAGE . I LOOK UNDER THE VEHICLE TO SEE IF THERE WAS A FUEL LEAK BECAUSE OF HOW STRONG THE SMELL WAS. I DIDN'T SEE ANYTHING SO I WAS THINKING MAYBE IT WAS A ONE TIME THING LIKE I HAD SPILLED SOME GAS ON THE CAR WHEN I FILLED UP. I AGAIN NOTICED THE SAME THING TWO WEEKS LATER WHEN I FILLED UP. IT HAPPENS EVERY TIME I FILL UP THE CAR. I CAN EVEN SMELL GAS ORDER IN A OPEN AIR PARKING LOT WHEN I WALK BY MY CAR. I TOOK THE CAR INTO THE CHEVY DEALER I BOUGHT IF FROM BECAUSE OF A SERVICE BULLETIN CSC-10051936-8902 WHERE THE PLASTIC SUPPLY OR RETURN PORT ON THE FUEL PUMP CRACKS AND LEAKS FUEL OR FUEL VAPORS. FUEL VAPORS, IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE, COULD POTENTIALLY CAUSE A VEHICLE FIRE. SO SINCE THIS IS MY ONLY SOURCE OF TRANSPORTATION I TOOK IF IN TO GET LOOKED. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THAT THIS REPAIR WAS ALREADY DONE TO MY VEHICLE BEFORE THEY SOLD IT TO ME. I TOLD THEM THAT THE SMELL IS SO BAD THAT I HAVE TO AIR OUT MY GARAGE BEFORE I STARTED MY CAR BECAUSE I'M WORRIED OUT IT. THE DEALER SERVICE REP. TOLD ME THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY TO FIX THE PART THAT WAS REPLACED IF IT WAS CRACKED AGAIN! I DON'T SEE WHY IT'S MY FAULT THAT THE PART THAT THEY REPLACED MAY STILL BE DEFECTIVE AND I HAVE TO PAY OUT OF MY POCKET. THE GUY REALLY DIDN'T SEEM TO CARE THAT THIS IS A SAFETY RELATED CONDITION THAT COULD CAUSE A POSSIBLE FIRE. I JUST SPOKE TO GM ABOUT IT AND WAS TOLD YES THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY TO HAVE MY CAR INSPECTED AND IF THE SAME FUEL LINE IS CRACKED THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY. NO HELP, BUT I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO AIR OUT MY GARAGE EVERY TIME I FILL UP BEFORE I START IT BECAUSE OF A POSSIBLE FIRE HAZARD. THE GM REP. I SPOKE TO ON THE PHONE SAID THAT WHEN I GET THE LETTER FOR THE IGNITION RECALL I SHOULD MENTION IT TO THEM AGAIN. *TR
2007 CHEVROLET COBALT. CONSUMER STATES STRONG FUEL ODOR *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED GM REFUSED TO RECONIZE THE PROBLEM WITH NO RESTITUTION FOR THE REPAIR HE HAD DONE AT A NON-GM DEALER. AFTER THE REPAIR WAS MADE, HE RECEIVED A SERVICE BULLETIN FROM THE DEALER, WHICH STATED THE FUEL PUMP WAS RE-DESIGNED DUE TO POTENTIAL CRACKS IN THE FULE LINES. *JB
STARTED SMELLING FUEL AFTER DRIVING VEHICLE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET COBALT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHETHER SHE WAS IN OR OUTSIDE HER VEHICLE SHE WOULD GET A STRONG ODOR OF GASOLINE. THERE WAS ALSO A LEAK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSE THAT THE FUEL PUMP WAS FRACTURED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND THEY OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 96,000.
NOTICED THAT THE CAR TURN SIGNALS WERE WORKING, BUT THERE WAS NO TICKING SOUND INSIDE THE CAR. NOTICED THAT THE FRONT LEFT SPEAKER WENT OFF AND ON. WHEN IT WORKED, THE TURN SIGNAL SOUND WOULD RETURN AFTER GOING OVER A BUMP, BUT THEN STOP WORKING AGAIN. THEN THE RIGHT FRONT SPEAKER STOPPED WORKING. LEARNED THAT ALL AUDIO WARNING DEVICES IN THE CAR ARE CONNECTED TO THE FRONT SPEAKERS. IF A CHILD IN THE BACK SEAT REMOVES HIS OR HER SEAT BELT, THERE IS NO AUDITORY SIGNAL TO THE DRIVER OF THIS DANGER, SAME IF THE CAR DOOR IS OPENED, ETC. CONTACTED GM LAST WEEK AND THEY SAID THEY WOULD HELP WITH REPAIR COSTS, WHICH I HAD DONE AT THEIR DEALERSHIP, BUT NOW THEY ARE SAYING I WAS GIVEN THE INCORRECT INFORMATION FROM THEIR CONSUMER OFFICE AND THEY WILL NOT PAY THE ALMOST $200 BILL TO REPLACE THE SPEAKERS. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AS ALL AUDITORY WARNINGS COME THROUGH THE FRONT SPEAKERS OF THIS CAR. ALSO I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED OF A RECALL FOR A LEAKING GAS PUMP OR EVEN THE EXISTENCE OF THIS PROBLEM IN THIS MAKE AND MODEL. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET COBALT. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 20 MPH WHEN HE NOTICED THAT THE POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILED AND THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED. THE POWER STEERING WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AS THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURE WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 75,000.
THE STEERING WHEEL COMPLETELY DIED ON ME IN A MIDDLE OF A HIGHWAY EXIT. A MESSAGE CAME ON SAYING POWER STEERING. IT WAS INCREDIBLY HARD TO TURN EITHER WAY. I HAD ABOUT 5 MILES TO HOME AND DROVE THE CAR IN THAT CONDITION. I DID NOT KNOW WHAT WAS GOING ON. IN APRIL OF 2010 I HAD RECEIVED A LETTER FROM GM ABOUT A RECALL; HOWEVER, THAT LETTER INFORMED ME NOT TO ACT AND WORRY UNTIL I RECEIVED A SECOND LETTER FROM THEM, WHICH I NEVER RECEIVED. I HAD ALMOST FORGOTTEN ABOUT THE ISSUE UNTIL LAST NIGHT!!! *TR
NOTICED A STRONG FUEL ODOR AROUND MY CAR. DISCOVERED THE FUEL PUMP SUPPLY LINE WAS BROKEN AT THE FUEL PUMP MODULE AND GAS WAS SQUIRTING EVERYWHERE. I SEE WHERE THERE IS RECALL ON CERTAIN VINS OVER THIS PROBLEM AND WONDER WHY MINE IS NOT INCLUDED. *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET COBALT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER PARKING THE VEHICLE, GASOLINE FUEL FUMES WERE EMITTED INTO THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT AFTER INSPECTING THE VEHICLE SHE REALIZED THAT THERE WAS A FUEL LEAK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL PUMP WAS CRACKED. AS A RESULT, THE FUEL PUMP AND THE FUEL TANK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE WHO DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 09V419000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:DELIVERY:FUEL PUMP). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 63,000.
I STOPPED THE CAR, PUT IT PARK, I TURNED THE KEY OFF BUT IT WOULD ONLY TURN TO AUX. I COULD NOT GET THE KEY OUT. I USED MY SPARE KEY TO LOCK MY CAR AFTER TURNING OFF ALL LIGHTS, RADIO, ANYTHING THAT MIGHT DRAIN THE BATTERY. NO SAFE WITH KEY IN THE IGNITION YET THE CAR IS LOCKED. I DID THIS FOR A MONTH AND LOOKED IN THE CAR MANUAL THAT CAME WITH THE CAR AND I FOUND THERE IS A EMERGENCY RELEASE IN THE STEERING COLUMN. AFTER REMOVING THE SMALL SQUARE EMERGENCY DOOR UNDER THE STEERING COLUMN, I HAD TO FIGURE OUT THROUGH THE WIRE HARNESS WHERE THE SMALL BUTTON I NEEDED TO PUSH IT IN AND HOLD IT WITH ONE HAND AND USE THE OTHER HAND TO TURN THE KEY TO THE OFF POSITION AND RELEASE IT FROM THE CYLINDER AND HAVE BEEN DOING THAT SINCE. WHEN THE RECALL CAME IN FROM GM WITH THE IGNITION PROBLEM STOPPING IN AUX WHICH WILL NOT DEPLOY THE AIRBAGS AND SEATBELTS, I TOOK MY CAR TO GET IT REPLACED AS THE RECALL DIRECTED. WHEN IT WAS REPLACED AT THE DEALER, I STILL COULD NOT GET THE KEY OUT AS PRIOR REPAIR. I HAVE CONTACTED GM AND THEY SAID THEY CONTACTED THE DEALER AND THEN DEALER CALLED ME AND SAID I NEEDED TO PAY $255.00 TO FIX IT. I CALLED GM BACK AND THEY REFUSED TO CORRECT THEIR LIABILITY. IF I GET IN AN ACCIDENT, THE SAFETY AIRBAGS AND SEATBELTS WILL NO WORK CAUSING MORE DAMAGE TO MY PASSENGERS AND MYSELF. I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR THEIR LIABILITY. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ON 78 GOING TO SAMS WHEN ME AND MY FAMILY NOTICED A LOUD SMELL OF FUEL AND SOME MOTORIST PASSING BY POINT AT MY CAR STATING THAT WE HAD LEAKAGE COMING FROM MY VEHICLE. SO AS I WAS TRYING TO GET OVER THE CAR SUDDENLY CUTS OFF RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FREAKING FREEWAY ALMOST OFF THE ROAD BUT NOT QUITE. SO A GOOD PERSON STOPPED AND HELPED ME PUSH THE CAR OFF UNTIL THE POLICE SHOWED TO HAVE OTHER MOVING CARS MOVE TO THE NEXT LANE UNTIL WE WERE IN A SAFE PLACE. SURE ENOUGH THE FUEL UNDER MY CAR WAS POURING OUT. I ONLY HAD MY CAR A YEAR AND NEVER HAD SOMETHING LIKE THIS HAPPEN WITH ANY CARS I HAVE EVER HAD THIS IS ACTUALLY THE FIRST CAR FROM CHEVROLET I EVER OWNED. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP I GOT THE CAR FROM BUT IT WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY AT ALL AND THIS IS VERY UPSETTING. SO NOW I AM WITHOUT A CAR FOR NOW. UNTIL I GET THIS FIXED I LOOKED UP RECALLS BUT NOTHING WITH MY VIN NUMBER [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET COBALT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH HE NOTICED A RATTLING SOUND COMING FROM THE STEERING COLUMN. AFTER INSPECTING THE VEHICLE THE CONTACT NOTICED THE CONNECTION BETWEEN THE STEERING SHAFT AND THE STEERING COLUMN WAS ABOUT TO FRACTURE.THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS 2007 CHEVROLET COBALT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS REFUELED TO CAPACITY, THE FUEL WOULD LEAK OVER THE COURSE OF A FEW DAYS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE FUEL PUMP HAD FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 12V459000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE: DELIVERY: FUEL PUMP). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 20,000.
STARTED NOTICING STRONG GAS SMELL WITH OR WITHOUT THE CAR BEING ON. ALSO HARD TO START. TOOK THE CAR TO GET THE POWER STEERING RECALL FIXED AT OUR DEALERS, THEY CHECKED THE FUEL SYSTEM BECAUSE OF THE STRONG GAS SMELL AND SAID THE FUEL LINE WAS PROBABLY CRACKED. LOOKED TO SEE IF IT WAS UNDER RECALL. NOT FOR OUR STATE. HAD TO SIGN A PAPER SAYING OUR CAR WAS "UNSAFE TO DRIVE". WE LIVE 10 MILES FROM 2 STATES THAT THIS IS A RECALL IN. CALLED CHEVY AND WAS TOLD THEY WOULD DO NOTHING FOR US BECAUSE THE RECALL IS NOT IN OUR STATE. I WANT THIS FIXED. ITS TIME YOU STOOD BY YOUR PRODUCTS. *TR
I HAVE A 2007 CHEVROLET COBALT. MY POWER STEERING LIGHT STARTED TO FLASH WHEN I WAS HEADED TO WORK THEN MY GAS GAGE WENT FROM 1/2 A TANK TO EMPTY, IT THEN STARTED TO FEEL WEIRD LIKE IT WAS GETTING HARDER TO TURN SO I PARKED IT AND SHUT THE CAR. WHEN I COME BACK AFTER WORK AND STARTED IT AND WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT HOME AND PARKED IT CAUSE IM TO SCARED TO DRIVE IT WITH MY TWO KIDS. WHAT SHOULD I DO I BEEN READING UP ON THESE KIND OF CARS AND IT SEEMS THERE ARE ALOT OF PROBLEMS JUST LIKE MINE. *TR
IN MARCH, 2009, MY DAUGHTER PURCHASED A 2007 CHEVY COBALT FROM A CHEVROLET DEALER IN GILBERT, AZ. THE CAR HAS BEEN WELL MAINTAINED, AND THERE HAVE BEEN FEW MAINTENANCE ISSUES UNTIL RECENTLY. IN APRIL, 2012 SHE NOTICED THAT SHE WAS HAVING A HARD TIME STARTING THE VEHICLE, AND WHEN IT DID START IT SMELLED STRONGLY OF GASOLINE. WE TOOK IT TO OUR LOCAL MECHANIC WHO DETERMINED THAT THE CAR NEEDED A NEW FUEL PUMP AND FILTER. THE CAR THEN STARTED OK, BUT WHEN THE GAS TANK WAS FULL WE CONTINUED TO SMELL GASOLINE OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE. WE TOOK IT BACK TO THE MECHANIC IN JUNE FOR AN OIL CHANGE, AND TOLD HIM ABOUT THE GASOLINE SMELL (PLUS THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAD COME ON). THE VEHICLE WAS THEN DIAGNOSED WITH AN EVAPORATIVE GAS LEAK, SO THE GAS CAP WAS REPLACED. AGAIN WE THOUGHT THAT THE ISSUE WAS CORRECTED UNTIL TWO WEEKS LATER MY DAUGHTER FILLED UP HER GAS TANK, AND WHEN SHE PARKED AT WORK SMELLED GAS STRONGLY AGAIN, AND THIS TIME NOTICED FLUID DRIPPING FROM UNDERNEATH THE CAR. THE NEXT DAY WE TOOK THE CAR BACK TO THE MECHANIC, AND THIS TIME HE FOUND A CRACK IN THE PORT ASSEMBLY. HE REPAIRED IT WITH AN EPOXY REPAIR KIT TO THE BEST OF HIS ABILITY, BUT TOLD ME TO CHECK WITH GENERAL MOTORS TO SEE IF THERE HAD BEEN A RECALL OF ANY SORT. I CHECKED WITH THE NHTSA AT SAFERCAR.GOV AND THERE IT WAS. THERE MOST DEFINITELY WAS A RECALL THAT WE WERE NEVER NOTIFIED OF REGARDING THIS FUEL LEAK ISSUE. I SENT A LETTER TO GENERAL MOTORS REQUESTING A COPY OF THE RECALL, ASKING WHY I WASN'T ORIGINALLY NOTIFIED IN FEBRUARY OF 2010, AND REQUESTING REIMBURSEMENT FOR MY EXPENSES, TOTALING $976.00. CUSTOMER SERVICE AT GENERAL MOTORS DENIED MY REQUEST, AND REFUSED TO ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY. THEY SAID THAT MY VEHICLE VIN WAS NOT LISTED. THEY WOULD NOT TELL ME WHY. ALL I KNOW IS THAT IF MY VEHICLE HAD BEEN REPAIRED AT THE TIME THE RECALL OCCURRED, I WOULD NOT HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE. *TR
THE VEHICLE HAS A BUILT IN ANTI THEFT SYSTEM . THIS SYSTEM IS CONTROLLED BY A COMPUTER . AS WELL AS AN ETCHING IN THE KEY THAT IS RECOGNIZED BY THE IGNITION . THIS HAS BEEN AN ON GOING PROBLEM FOR US WHERE THE ANTI THEFT SYSTEM WILL ENGAGE WHILE YOU ARE DRIVING . WHEN THIS HAPPENS YOU LOSE YOUR INSTRUMENTATION, POWER STEERING , YOUR TRANSMISSION SLIPS AND YOUR ENGINE SPUTTERS . THIS HAS HAPPENED TO US AT HIGH SPEED IN THE FREEWAY , SLOW SPEED ON CITY STREETS AND EVERYTHING IN BETWEEN . THE REAL ISSUE IS THAT IT IS SO SPORADIC THAT OUR LOCAL GM DEALER IS UNABLE TO ASSESS THE ISSUE . *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS ADVISED TO THE CONTACT THAT THE FUEL TANK WAS CRACKED. AS A RESULT, THE FUEL PUMP MODULE AND THE FUEL TANK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 12V459000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET COBALT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER TAKING HER VEHICLE IN FOR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE, SHE WAS INFORMED THAT THE FUEL TANK WAS LEAKING. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 106,900.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE THE REPAIRS WERE UNKNOWN. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 12,882 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 42,800.
FUEL PUMP AND LINES ARE LEAKING . PURCHASED CAR NEW IN 2007 IN MO.. WAS TOLD IT IS NOT COVERED UNDER RECALL NOTICES #09V419000. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET COBALT. WHILE TRAVELING 30 MPH, THE CONTACT NOTICED A SMELL OF GASOLINE WITHIN THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE FUEL PUMP WAS REPLACED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 76,136.
THE INTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE HAD A STRONG FUEL ODOR. THE CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP DIAGNOSED A LEAKING FUEL MODULE AND HAD TO REPLACE THE GAS TANK, FUEL MODULE, AND FUEL PIPE. WHILE THIS DEFECT IS KNOWN TO OCCUR ON SOME 2007 COBALTS, GM STATES THAT MY VIN NUMBER IS NOT PART OF THE CURRENT KNOWN DEFECT. THE LEAKING FUEL MODULE RECALL SHOULD BE EXPANDED TO INCLUDE ALL 2007 COBALTS. *JS
THERE WAS A STRONG ODOR OF GAS WHEN DRIVING THE CAR, AND IT IS VERY HARD TO START THE CAR. THE AUTOSHOP SAID THERE IS A SEVERE FUEL LEAKAGE, AND THEY FOUND FUEL LEAKING FROM THE FUEL TANK, AND THE SOURCE OF FUEL LEAK WAS THE FUEL PUMP MODULE. THIS COULD BE VERY DANGEROUS, AND THERE WAS INDEED A RECALL FOR THE CAR MODEL, HOWEVER, IT DOES NOT COVER CAR REGISTERED IN MY STATE. I SUGGEST THEY INCLUDE THIS STATE, AND REIMBURSE MY REPAIR. *TR

I PLACED MY CAR IN PARK LAST NIGHT, BUT FOR SOME REASON MY KEY GOT STUCK IN THE IGNITION. THE IGNITION WOULD NOT TURN BACK TO THE LOCK POSITION FOR THE KEY TO BE RELEASED. I CHECKED MY CAR'S WHEELS TO MAKE SURE THEY WERE STRAIGHT AND EVERY OTHER THING THAT I COULD THINK OF TO TRY AND MAKE THE KEY GO TO THE LOCK POSITION. AFTER READING THE MANUAL, I WAS ABLE TO FIND THAT THERE WAS A CAP ON THE PANEL UNDER THE STEERING COLUMN, THAT ONCE REMOVED, CONTAINED AN EMERGENCY RELEASE BUTTON THAT WHEN PUSHING IT ALLOWED FOR THE IGNITION TO BE TURNED TO THE LOCK POSITION AND THEY KEY TO BE RELEASED. I HAVE STARTED MY CAR SEVERAL OTHER TIMES AND ENCOUNTERED THE SAME PROBLEM. I TOOK IT TO A CAR LOCKSMITH AND HAD ANOTHER KEY MADE FOR THE CAR WHICH COST ME $100.00. YESTERDAY, OCTOBER 8, 2013 I BEGIN TO ENCOUNTER THE SAME PROBLEM ALL OVER AGAIN. ON MARCH 4, 2011 I HAD MY 2007 COBALT'S ELECTRICAL POWER STEERING FIXED DUE TO THE RECALL I RECEIVED IN THE MAIL. THIS WAS AS EMICH CHEVORLET IN COLORADO. RECENTLY I HAVE BEEN HAVING ISSUES MAKING TURNS AT SLOWER SPEEDS AND SOMETIME UNABLE TO TURN AT ALL. I CONTACTED MY PERSONAL SHOP AND WAS TOLD THE DEALER NEEDED TO DO THE WORK AND THE RECALL SHOULD HAVE FIXED THIS DEFUNCT PART. I CONTACTED THE DEALER TODAY WHO STRAIGHT AWAY TOLD ME IT WAS NOT THEIR PROBLEM. HEADLIGHTS PERIODICALLY REMAIN ON, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER I TRY TO MANUALLY TURN THEM ON OR OFF. THE DEALERSHIP HAD RECENTLY MADE A WARRANTY REPAIR AND A RECALL REPAIR TO THE VEHICLE 11/2011, BUT WAS NOT OPEN ON A SATURDAY. A LOCAL SHOP IDENTIFIED THE PROBLEM, AND I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND GM TO SEE IF THEY WOULD FIX BASED ON A RECALL FOR THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM & MODEL #, NHTSA # 09V419000. THEY REFUSED BASED A NC SALVAGE TITLE ON THE CAR THAT WAS DUE TO A REPLACED BUMPER, 3 YEARS AGO, WHICH HAD NO IMPACT ON THE FUEL SYSTEM. REMEMBER THEY HAD JUST DONE WARRANTY WORK 2 MONTHS AGO, BUT SAID THE WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED, ALTHOUGH THE GM REP SAID THE WARRANTY HAD BEEN EXTENDED FOR 10 YEARS FOR THIS PROBLEM AS A PART OF A SETTLEMENT, BUT SAID THE SALVAGE TITLE DID NOT WARRANT REPAIR. WHEN PUSHED ABOUT THE PREVIOUS WORK THEY HAD PERFORMED, THE RECALL ON RECORD, AND WHY DID THEY NOT FIX IT WHEN THEY FIXED A STEERING RECALL; HE CALLED THE DEALERSHIP, THEY SAID IT WAS BECAUSE IT WAS WORKING FINE AND DID NOT SHOW THE SYMPTOMS OF THE RECALL AT THE TIME. MY EXACT SAME POINT!!! THE SALVAGE TITLE/BUMPER HAD NO IMPACT TO THE FUEL SYSTEM FOR 3 YEARS; AND THEIR (GM) RESPONSIBILITY IN MEETING A NHTSA RECALL. THEY ARE TRYING TO USE A LOOPHOLE TO AVOID THEIR RESPONSIBILITY ON THIS RECALL. I HAD TO PAY $593 TODAY SO MY DAUGHTER'S CAR WOULD NOT CATCH ON FIRE AS WAS MENTIONED ON SEVERAL INTERNET WEBSITES IN RELATION TO THIS RECALL.
