POWER STEERING MESSAGE CAME ON WHILE THE CAR AT HIGH SPEED DRIVING AND CAR SHUT OFF/ENGINE SHUT OFF COMPLETELY, THANKS GOD WAS ON A RURAL ROAD AND THERE WAS NOT MUCH TRAFFIC. TRY TO START CAR THE SECURITY LOCK CAME ON. SECURITY LOCK COMES ON THE CAR VERY OFTEN LEAVING ME STRANDED. THE CAR HAS 54000 MILES.

NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WERE MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 254,000.
GAS LEAKING NEAR THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE.;
I WENT TO TURN THE CAR ON AND IT WOULDN'T START. AS I TRIED TO TAKE THE KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION IT LOCKED ITSELF IN AND HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO REMOVE IT.I WAS GOING TO ATTEMPT THE CAR JUMP BUT I COULDN'T PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL TO MOVE IT TO A POSITION TO GET A JUMP BECAUSE THE GEAR SHIFT IS ALSO LOCKED. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO MOVE THIS CAR AS IS.
2-3 WEEKS AGO I GOT IN MY CAR TO GO SOMEWHERE. FROM THE TIME I PULLED OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY MY CAR WAS IN LIMP MODE. AT THE SAME TIME MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, AIR BAG LIGHT, POWER STEERING LIGHT, SERVICE TRACTION LIGHT AND THEFT LIGHT ALL CAME ON. I GOT MY CAR BACK TO THE HOUSE AND WHEN I SHUT IT OFF IT WOULD NOT START BACK. I HOOKED IT UP TO THE OBD2 SCANNER AND THE CODES THAT CAME BACK WERE P1682( FAULTY IGNITION SWITCH) AND CODE U0101(TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE).

THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT PRIOR TO THE FAILURE OCCURRING, AN ABNORMAL CRACKING NOISE WAS PRESENT WHILE TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL IN EITHER DIRECTION. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT YET DETERMINED. THE LOCAL DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
The fuel line was rusted causing a leak. The rusted area is by the driver side rear wheel well. The fuel line is covered by a material to shield it from the exhaust heat. The material holds moisture causing the fuel line in that area to rust and leak.
Fuel leak from rusted fuel lines. I am willing to allow the vehicle to be inspected as it hasn't been repaired. The fuel leak appeared to be in front of the drivers side rear wheel and it is near the exhaust which is very dangerous.

THE CONTACT'S DAUGHTER WAS INFORMED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT YET REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER AND LOCAL DEALER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 141,000.
MY 2007 SUPERCHARGED COBALT HAS BEEN LEAKING GAS LIKE A PIG. IT IS COMING FROM THE EXPOSED PLASTIC RETAINER CLIP THAT HAS RUSTED THROUGH MY GAS LINE AND SLOWLY RUSTING THROUGH MY BRAKE LINE NOW AS WELL. THIS IS A HUGE DESIGN FLAW AS THERE IS DEFINATELY ROAD SALT THAT GOT BETWEEN THE PLASTIC CLIP AND GAS LINE EATING AWAY AT THE METALS AND RUSTING. THE GAS LINE IS RIGHT ABOVE MY HOT EXHAUST AND THE LINE AND REPAIR IS STUPID EXPENSIVE AND CONSIDERING ALL THE OTHER 3 FUEL RECALLS ON THIS CAR I BELIEVE THIS SHOULD BE RECALLED AS MY CAR BARELY HAS 100,XXX MILES AND COULD POTENTIALLY CATCH FIRE UNTIL I HAVE THE $900 I WAS QUOTED TO FIX THIS.
MY FAMILY AND I WAS RIDING IN MY 2007 COBALT ON THE FREEWAY 7-14-2020. AS I WAS GOING BETWEEN 40-35 MPH MAKING A SHARP RIGHT AROUND THE CURB ON THE I-10 FREEWAY MY STEERING WHEEL GOT VERY FIRM AND LOCKED UP CAUSING MY CAR TO SLIDE. I HAD TO EXIT THE FREEWAY.

THE AIR BAGS DID DEPLOY. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED AND TOTALED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED INJURIES TO THEIR ARM, LEG, CHEST, AND RIB AREA. MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS NEEDED. THE CONTACT STATED THE POWER STEERING SUDDENLY FAILING HAD OCCURRED A FEW TIMES BEFORE THE INCIDENT AT SPEEDS BETWEEN 40-65 MPH. I HAVE A LARGE FUEL LEAK AND CHEVY HAS A RECALL FOR 2008 TO 2010 VEHICLES WITH RUSTED FUEL LINES, AND MY 2007 SHOULD BE INCLUDED WITH THE RUSTED FUEL LINES RECALL. I THINK GM SHOULD REEVALUATE THE YEARS THIS IS AFFECTING. MY CAR HAS UNDER THE MILEAGE IT SHOULD HAVE AND I HAVE KEPT MY VEHICLE UP TO DATE WITH ALL SERVICES! THE RECORDS ARE AT ROSEVILLE CHEVROLET IN ROSEVILLE, MN. THAT IS WHERE I BOUGHT MY CAR NEW, AS WELL. THE FUEL LINES ARE LEAKING VERY BADLY. I'M IN HOPES THEY WILL RECTIFY THIS SITUATION.

The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt. The contact stated that while driving approximately 35 MPH, the power steering warning light illuminated, and the contact had to manually steer the vehicle. The contact continued to drive the vehicle without power steering functionality. The contact stated that additional electrical failures had occurred. The contact also stated that the ABS activated and deactivated independently, and the traction control became inoperable. The instrument panel also became inoperable, and the contact was unable to see the speedometer and fuel gauge functions on the instrument panel. The dealer was contacted; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was unknown. The VIN was not available.

PLEASANT (116 N MISSION ST, MT PLEASANT, MI 48858) WAS CONTACTED AND AN APPOINTMENT WAS SCHEDULED TO HAVE THE VEHICLE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED UNDER WARRANTY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 86,000.
MY 2007 CHEVY COBALT WAS PARKED OVERNIGHT AND I NOTICED NEXT MORNING TRYING TO START MY CAR, THE SMELL OF GAS WAS EVERYWHERE. LOOKING UNDER MY CAR, DRIVER SIDE BY REAR WHEEL I SEE GAS WAS LEAKING RAPIDLY FROM THE FUEL LINE
THE CONNECTION BETWEEN THE FILLER TUBE AND GAS TANK IS LEAKING, LIKELY BECAUSE THE GAS TANK IS CRACKED. THE CAR SMELLS LIKE GASOLINE, EVEN AFTER SITTING OVERNIGHT.
TURN SIGNALS TOTALLY UNCONTROLLABLE AND/OR INOPERABLE BEFORE, DURING AND AFTER TURNING, ENGINE LIGHT ON CONTINUOUS AND NOT ABLE TO DETECT REASONS, DEALERSHIP REJECTED REQUEST TO IDENTIFY CAUSE AND EFFECT OF ENGINE LIGHT, CAR MAKING POPING SOUNDS, IGNITION SWITCH RECALL NOT ADDRESSED. THE ONLY KNOWN RECALL REPAIR AND OR RECORD OF REPAIR IS FOR FUEL LEAKAGE. ALL "IN MOTION" RELATED PROBLEMS. PROBLEMS COME OUT OF NO WHERE AND ONGOING.

COMING TO A STOP AT A STOP SIGN IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD, ABOUT TO TURN RIGHT WHEN MY LOCKS STARTED LOCKING/UNLOCKING ON THEIR OWN REPEATEDLY. MY POWER STEERING GOES OUT, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON, AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT ACTIVATES.. MY DASH FLASHES SERVICE TRACTION /POWER STEERING. SPEEDOMETER STOPS WORKING.
MASSIVE FUEL LEAK IN ORIGINAL FUEL LINES. DUE TO HEAT TAPE INSULATION WRAPPED AROUND THE FUEL LINES RUNNING FROM THE FUEL FILTER. THE INSULATION IS THERE BECAUSE THE FUEL LINES RUN ALONG THE EXHAUST PIPE. DUE TO THE INSULATION WATER, ICE, SALT, AND SAND ARE TRAPPED INSIDE AND CORRODED THE LINES. UPON LOOKING INTO COBALT SPECIFIC FORUMS, THIS IS AN EXTREMELY COMMON ISSUE.
Problems with ignition had a recall on ignition got it replaced still is messing up had to buy another car cause it won't start. It cut off while going down the road
I I HAD A FUEL LEAK WHERE THE FUEL LINE CONNECT IN A MODULAR BOX.I PAID TO HAVE THE FUEL LINE REPLACED. I NOTICE THE FUEL LEAK IN THE DRIVEWAY WHILE PARKED.

I WAS DRIVING THE CAR AND AFTER PARKING IT AND GETTING OUT SMELLED A STRONG ODOR OF GAS. I DIDN'T KNOW WHERE IT WAS COMING FROM SO DIDN'T THINK ANYTHING OF IT AND DROVE THE CAR A COUPLE MORE TIMES AND EACH TIME AFTER UPON LEAVING THE CAR SMELLED AGAIN A STRONG ODOR OF GAS. I DECIDED TO VISUALLY INSPECT THE UNDERSIDE OF THE CAR AND SAW GAS LEAKING FROM IN FRONT OF THE DRIVER SIDE REAR TIRE. I QUIT DRIVING THE CAR AND LOOKED ONLINE TO SEE IF OTHER PEOPLE WERE HAVING THIS SAME ISSUE AND THERE WERE. I CALLED A COUPLE CHEVY DEALERSHIPS AND ASKED IF THEIR WAS A RECALL AND WAS TOLD TO BRING IT IN AND THEY WOULD HAVE TO INSPECT IT TO DETERMINE IF IT WAS THE FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY AND IF SO THEY WOULD FIX IT FOR FREE. KNOWING THE CAR WAS UNSAFE AND VERY DANGEROUS TO DRIVE I RENTED A CAR DOLLY AND BROUGHT IT TO A CHEVY DEALERSHIP APPROXIMATELY 35 MILES AWAY. AFTER INSPECTION WE WERE TOLD IT WAS NOT THE FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY BUT THE GAS LINES. WE HAD TO PAY $634 TO HAVE THE CAR REPAIRED. REPAIR WAS DONE IN FEBRUARY 2020.THE CAR HAD ROUGHLY 88,000 MILES ON IT AT THE TIME PROBLEM NOTICED.

THE AUTOMATIC HEADLIGHTS ON THE CAR DO SHUT OFF INTERMITTENTLY. THEY ALSO TURN ON BY THEMSELVES SOMETIMES WHEN THE CAR IS PARKED AND OFF. WE HAVE BEEN STRANDED WITH A DEAD BATTERY WHEN THIS HAPPENS. THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE 2007 AND NEWER COBALTS. TYPICALLY CARS HAD A PHYSICAL RELAY TO CONTROL THE HEADLIGHTS. IN THESE CARS THE RELAY CIRCUIT IS BUILT IN THE UNDERSIDE OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT FUSE BOX. THE BOX IS NOT SEAL PROPERLY AND MOISTURE GETS INTO THE BOX, CAUSING A FAILURE ON THE CIRCUIT BOARD. THIS CAR FIRST STARTED DOING THIS BACK IN 2009 WHEN MY DAUGHTER HAD IT. I RECENTLY TOOK THE CAR BACK AND IT WAS STILL BEHAVING IN THIS MANNER. THE WORK AROUND THAT SEEMED TO WORK FOR A LONG TIME WAS TO MANUALLY TURN THE AUTO LIGHTS OFF USING THE MULTIFUNCTION LEVER ON THE STEERING WHEEL. TODAY, THE LIGHTS STARTED COMING ON BY THEMSELVES WHEN THE CAR WAS PARKED. ALSO, TURNING THE AUTO LIGHTS OFF MANUALLY HAS STOPPED BEING EFFECTIVE. WE ARE NOW FEARFUL, WILL THE LIGHTS SHUT OFF WHILE WE ARE DRIVING, AND OFF COURSE WILL WE BE STRANDED WITH A DEAD BATTERY WHEN PARKING THE CAR. THE SOLUTION SEEMS TO BE TO REPLACE THE FUSE BOX IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT A $200 PART PLUS A FEW LABOR HOURS. THEN YOU HAVE TO RIG UP A SOLUTION TO MAKE THE DEFECTIVE BOX SEAL, SUCH AS ADDING WEATHERSTRIPPING. I FEEL THIS SHOULD BE A SAFETY RECALL FOR GM TO FIX AT NO COST TO CUSTOMER. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET COBALT. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE STEERING SEIZED WITHOUT WARNING. THE FAILURE RECURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 122,000.
PULLED INTO DRIVEWAY WHEN GOT HOME FROM WORK. NOTICED GAS LEAKING ONTO THE DRIVEWAY FROM UNDER THE CAR. LOOKED UNDER THE CAR AND FOUND THAT THE GAS WAS LEAKING FROM THE GAS LINE RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE DRIVER'S SIDE REAR WHEEL. THE GAS LINE IS HELD BY A CLIP THERE AND THE DESIGN AND PLACEMENT CAUSES THINGS SUCH AS ROAD SALT TO COLLECT THERE AND CORRODE THE GAS LINE. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS DESIGN DEFECT. THE GAS LINE THERE IS CLOSE TO THE MUFFLER AND GAS LEAKING FROM THAT SPOT WHILE THE CAR IS BEING DRIVEN COULD EASILY CAUSE A FIRE. I WAS LUCKY THAT NO FIRE RESULTED WHEN MY GAS LINE STARTED LEAKING WHILE I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK. OTHERS MAY NOT BE SO LUCKY. GM NEEDS TO ISSUE A RECALL FOR THIS VERY SERIOUS DESIGN DEFECT BEFORE SOMEONE IS INJURED OR KILLED. THEY NEED TO FIX ALL THE COBALTS OUT THERE WITH THIS DEFECT AND REIMBURSE OWNERS, SUCH AS MYSELF, WHO HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM AND HAD TO PAY OUT OF POCKET TO FIX IT. I HAD TO PAY ALMOST $700 TO REPLACE MY GAS LINE.

"AIRBAG SERVICE REQUIRED" LIGHT STARTED APPEARING ON DASHBOARD APPROX 1 MONTH AGO ONCE HITTING CLOSE TO 100,000 MILES. IT OCCURRED AT A RANDOM TIME WHILE IN MOTION, DURING NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS. VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN IN ANY ACCIDENTS OR DAMAGE. LIGHT OF AIRBAG SERVICE STARTED APPEARING RANDOMLY. AT FIRST IT WOULD TURN ON AND OFF; NOW IT CONSTANTLY APPEARS. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO USED CAR DEALER THAT I BOUGHT CAR FROM; THEY INSTRUCTED ME TO CALL GENERAL MOTORS BECAUSE IT APPEARS AS A SAFETY ISSUE AFTER THEY INVESTIGATED IT. GENERAL MOTORS TOLD ME IT WAS NOT A RECALL, YET THEY WERE AWARE IT IS A SERVICE ISSUE MULTIPLE PEOPLE WITH THE SAME YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL HAVE DEALT WITH. THEY INSTRUCTED ME TO TAKE IT TO NEAREST CHEVY DEALER TO HAVE IT SERVICES AT A UNREASONABLE COST. CALLED LOCAL CHEVY DEALER THEY WANTED DIAGNOSING PAYMENT PLUS PAYMENT TO SERVICE THE VEHICLE. I DID NOT TAKE VEHICLE TO CHEVY BECAUSE THE PRICING IS OUTRAGEOUS, THIS ISSUE HAS OCCURRED WITH MULTIPLE VEHICLES OR THE SAME YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL. IT IS OBVIOUSLY A SAFETY ISSUE THAT GM SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR. OTHERS HAVE WRITTEN ONLINE ABOUT PAYING FOR THE SERVICE AND IT OCCURRING AGAIN OR EVEN ACCIDENTS OCCURRING WITH AIRBAG MALFUNCTIONS.
