Fuel line rusted through above the exhaust system in front of left rear tire. Noticed a puddle of fuel on the ground and dripping. Replacing the lines myself. Seems like a safety issue to me, and should be recalled.
I NOTICED A FUEL LEAK NEAR THE LEFT SIDE REAR WHEEL WELL AFTER PARKING THE VEHICLE. I'VE READ THAT THIS IS AN OPEN INVESTIGATION DUE TO THE FUEL LINES LEAKING WHERE THE BLOCK THAT HOLDS THE FUEL LINES TO THE BODY OF THE CAR NEAR THE LEFT REAR WHEEL WELL. I JUST WANT TO REPORT IT SO I CAN ADD MY CAR TO THE OPEN INVESTIGATION GOING ON CURRENTLY. I WILL BE TAKING IT TO A GM DEALER TO HAVE REPAIRED AS IT'S A SAFETY HAZARD AND COULD START A FIRE.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET COBALT. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE POWER STEERING SUDDENLY MALFUNCTIONED, CAUSING THE STEERING WHEEL TO BECOME VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN IN EITHER DIRECTION. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT YET DETERMINED. THE LOCAL DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOT YET MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 170,000.
STEERING WAS GOOD AND HAD NO PROBLEMS TURNING EITHER DIRECTION AND NOW IT IS HARD STEERING AND TURN EITHER DIRECTION AND SOMETIMES IT FEELS LIKE IT'S TURNING FREE WHEN TURNING A CORNER OR TURNING AROUND
FUEL LINE HAS RUSTED CAUSING FUEL TO LEAK. NEED TO REPLACE TOTAL LINES.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALER TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE AND A CASE WAS FILED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 103,004.
FUEL LINE LEAK DRIVER SIDE REAR OF VEHICLE. CAUSED BY HEAT SLEEVES PUT OVER THE LINE BY THE MANUFACTURER CAUSING WATER TO GET TRAPPED INSIDE ROTTING OUT THE FUEL LINE. I WAS LUCKY THIS DID NOT HAPPEN WHEN CAR WAS AT 210 OPERATING TEMPERATURE OR I WOULD HAVE BEEN BURNED UP AT 1200 DEGREES.
POWER STEERING KEEPS GOING OUT AND I HAVE NEVER RECEIVED A RECALL ON THIS CAR. IT WAS SITTING STILL WHEN I CRANK IT AND I COULD BARELY TURN STEERING WHEEL. I COULD BE KILLED IF IT GOES OUT WHILE DRIVING. IT'S A MANUFACTURING DEFAULT AND NEED TO BE RECALLED

I HAVE HAD THE POWER STEERING PUMP RECALL FIXED TWICE NOW ON MY CAR. LAST TIME WAS OCTOBER OF 2020, AND FINALLY IN JANUARY OF 2021 IT STARTED ACTING UP AGAIN. NORMALLY I CAN DRIVE IT TO WHEREVER WITHOUT TOO MUCH ISSUE, BUT THAT WAS NOT THE CASE YESTERDAY. I STARTED MY CAR BEFORE LEAVING FOR WORK, GOT IN TO LEAVE AND THE POWER STEERING LIGHT WAS ON. I ATTEMPTED TO DRIVE IT, AS IT IS MY ONLY FORM OF TRANSPORTATION, AND DID NOT GET FAR. IT JERKED AROUND VIOLENTLY, WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AND THEN BECAME HARD TO STEER. AFTER I LET IT SIT ALL DAY AND TRIED AGAIN, IT STILL WAS ACTING UP AND THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD NOT MOVE WITHOUT EXCESSIVE PRESSURE, EVENTUALLY WOULD NOT EVEN START AFTER THAT TRY. I AM AT A LOSS AND AM FURIOUS AS THIS IS STILL AN ISSUE AFTER BEING FIXED TWICE.
The contact owns a 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt. The contact stated while driving 30 MPH, she smelled a fuel odor. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact stated she veered to the side of the road and exited the vehicle to determine the origin of the odor. The contact stated the odor was coming from outside of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the independent mechanic who diagnosed that the fuel pump needed to be replaced. The contact stated the failure had been reoccurring and the fuel was leaking underneath the vehicle while the vehicle was running. The contact referenced NHTSA Campaign Number: 12V459000 (Fuel System, Gasoline). The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 150,000.
POWER STEERING STOPPED WORKING WHILE DRIVING. STOPPED THE CAR AND SHUT IT OFF, THEN RESTARTED CAR AND THE POWER STEERING WORKED AGAIN. I WAS LUCKY, I WAS DRIVING SLOW ON A BACK STREET WHEN THIS HAPPENED. IF I HAD BEEN ON A HIGHWAY IT COULD HAD GONE VERY BAD. I FOUND NO RECALLS FOR MY CAR.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT FIRST THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE, THE TRACTION CONTROL, IGNITION AND POWER STEERING WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE GEAR SHIFTER WAS NOT SHIFTING TO FIRST GEAR AND THAT THE SPEEDOMETER WAS NOT FUNCTIONING AS DESIGNED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER THE TCM WAS GROUNDED TO THE CHASSIS, THE GEAR SHIFTER SHIFTED AS DESIGNED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT SHORTLY AFTER THE FAILURE, THE POWER STEERING BECAME HARD TO TURN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 10V073000 (STEERING) AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD EXPERIENCED THE SAME FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 89,000.
The accelerator pedal constantly fails to activate immediately after turning it on. it used to happen on cold or rainy days. It now fails to activate all the time. Took it to an independent service center and they said it could be the wiring due to water getting in the car. My car did have a leak and it was fixed but many months after these issues started occurring. I get a check engine light with a service traction control, service esc, and code p2138 is shown.

GASOLINE IS LEAKING FROM THE GAS TANK.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET COBALT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL GASOLINE ODOR INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING. THE CONTACT INSPECTED UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE AND BECAME AWARE OF A FUEL LEAK. THE CONTACT STATED THAT GASOLINE WAS LEAKING ONTO THE PROTECTIVE SHIELD UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT CALLED TOM GILL CHEVROLET (7830 COMMERCE DR, FLORENCE, KY 41042, (859) 371-7566) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS A SPECIAL COVERAGE ON THE VEHICLE FOR THE FUEL PUMP. THE CONTACT WAS THEN INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT COVERED DUE TO THE VEHICLE BEING LISTED AS A FLOOD DAMAGED VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND CONFIRMED THE STATUS OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 131,000.
DRIVING UP HILL ON FREEWAY. GAS PETAL STUCK TO FLOOR INCREASING SPEED. COULD ONLY STOP BY PRESSING HARD( BRAKE PETAL ALMOST ALL THE WAY DOWN). TRIED TO DUPLICATE SCENARIO AGAIN BUT COULDN'T. TEMPERATURE WAS COLD <30F OUTSIDE.
LAST OCTOBER 2020, WHEN ENTERING THE CAR, I SMELLED A VERY STRONG GASOLINE ODOR INSIDE, AND THEN NOTICED UNDERNEATH, BADLY LEAKY FUEL LINES TOWARD THE LEFT REAR WHEEL WELL. A LARGE POOL OF GASOLINE WAS ALSO NOTICED ON THE PAVEMENT. I AM INCLUDING A PHOTO OF THE CORRODED FUEL LINE AS FILE ATTACHMENT.
THE GASOLINE LINE NEAR THE REAR TIRE ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE RUSTED AND BEGAN TO SPILL GASOLINE
I HAVE BEEN NOTICING A GAS SMELL FOR A FEW WEEKS AND WITH FURTHER INVESTIGATION I NOTICED THAT GAS WAS LEAKING NEAR THE CLIP THAT HOLDS THE LINES UP BY THE DRIVER'S SIDE REAR TIRE. MY MECHANIC NOTICED THAT WHEN HE CUT BACK THE HEAT SHIELD THAT WAS A RUSTED OUT HOLE CAUSING THE LEAK. BOTH THE FUEL AND THE RETURN LINE HAVE RUSTED AND ARE LEAKING.
I HAD RECALLS FIXED IN 2015. AND THEN SUDDENLY POWER STEERING TURNS ON AND OFF. NEVER BEFORE THEY TOUCHED IT WAS THERE AN ISSUE. IT HAPPENS HERE AND THERE AND STOPS. THIS YEAR IS HAPPENING EVERY DAY AND WON'T GO AWAY. MY POWER STEERING TURNS OFF IN MIDDLE OF DRIVING. DASH BOARD LIGHTS GO OFF AND CAR STARTS CRANKING. GOES SUPER SLOW . I'M SCARED ITA GOING TO EXPLODE. I CAN'T DRIVE ON FREEWAY . AND NOW BESIDES THE LOCK ON SCREEN COMING ON MY ENGINE LIGHT STAYS ON NOW . NOT SURE WHAT TO DO WITH IT. CAR SHOPS CAN'T HELP. WHEN I 1ST HAD THE ISSUE I CALLED THE DEALER BECAUSE THEY FIXED THE RECALL AND THEY SAID NOTHING COULD BE DONE BECAUSE THEY HAD ALREADY FIXED THE RECALL
I NOTICED THE SMELL OF GASOLINE OUTSIDE OF MY CAR WHILE PARKED. I NOTICED A FEW DROPS OF GASOLINE ON THE GROUND UNDER MY CAR. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE SHOP FOR DIAGNOSIS AND THEY SAID IT WAS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS YEAR AND MODEL VEHICLE. IT IS A LEAK IN THE FUEL LINE CAUSED BY A FAULTY DESIGN WHERE A HEAT SHIELD IS PRONE TO COLLECT SALT, DIRT, ETC. AT THE METAL LINE WHICH CAUSES CORROSION.

SEVERAL FUEL LINES THAT WERE SIDE BY SIDE...CLOSE TO MUFFLER...FUEL DEFINITELY DRIPPING FROM THEM......ROLLED CAR FOWARD AHEAD OF SPILL, AND HEADED HOME....LOOKED WHERE WE USUALLY PARK IN DRIVEWAY AND SAW AN 18 INCH ROUND GAS STAIN ON ASPHALT......NEVER SEEN IT BEFORE TODAY......USED CAR ON THE 3RD TO PICK UP FOOD......STAIN FROM SEPT 3RD... WAS A MECHANIC BACK IN THE 70`S AND 80`S....AND FIGURED SINCE THE TANK DIDN`T EMPTY.....THE LEAK MUST STOP AFTER AN HOUR OR SO, OR UNTIL FUEL PRESSURE IN THE SYSTEM FALLS TO ZERO PSI.......I`VE HAD TONS OF ISSUES WITH THIS CAR, AND BIGGEST P O S I`VE EVER OWNED.......HAS 112K ON IT AND FEW MORE YEARS LEFT......MIGHT NOT GET STICKER THIS FALL.......THE CHEAP FRONT MUD FLAPS DON`T PROTECT THE CAR, AND THE ROCKER PANELS HAVE MAJOR CORROSION.......FRONT DRIVE SHAFTS DON`T LAST VERY LONG, AND HAD YEARS OF COMPUTER ISSUES AND OVERHEATING ON DISABILITY..2 METAL HIPS AND SPINAL CORD INJURY.....I`M GOING TO GET UNDER THIS TOMORROW , AND SEE IF I CAN MAKE A TEMP REPAIR, WITH SOME FUEL HOSE, AND A COUPLE CLAMPS......I`D PARK IT ON THE LAWN FOR THE NEXT FEW MONTHS, AND TRY TO GET RIDES....BUT DAUGHTER`S MEDICAL APPTS KEEP ME DRIVING ALMOST DAILY..G M SHOULD PAY FAIR MARKET VALUE, AND TAKE THESE ALL BACK.....OLDER CARS HAVE EXHAUST ISSUES , AND A GAS LEAK VERY CLOSE BY, AND BOOM...I WOULD BET MANY MANY HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM, AND FIXED IT, NOT KNOWING IT`S A DESIGN ERROR....HELP... FUEL IS LEAKING FROM UNDERNEATH A BLACK PLASTIC PART HOLDING THE FUEL LINE IN PLACE IN FRONT OF THE LEFT REAR TIRE. I AM NOT SURE HOW MUCH LEAKS, BUT AFTER DRIVING IT STARTS DRIPPING.
STRONG ODOR OF GASOLINE DETECTED AND GASOLINE IS LEAKING FROM UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE 21 AND ONE HALF INCHES FORWARD OF THE CENTER LINE OF DRIVER SIDE OR LEFT REAR TIRE.THIS CONDITION LEAVING PADDLE OF GASOLINE AND WAS FOUND WITH VEHICLE AT STATIONARY POSITION.
WHILE THE CAR IS RUNNING OR WHILE THE FUEL SYSTEM IS STILL UNDER PRESSURE, FOR EXAMPLE AFTER HAVING BEEN DRIVEN THERE IS A STEADY FUEL LEAK IN FRONT OF THE DRIVERS SIDE REAR TIRE. I HAVE PARKED THE CAR ONLY TO HAVE LOST 1/4 OF A TANK OF GASOLINE TO THE LEAK. THERE IS A VERY VERY STRONG ODOR OF GASOLINE THAT PERMEATES THE CAR. SOMETIMES THE CAR WILL HESITATE TO START, THE ENGINE CONTINUES TO CRANK AFTER I RELEASE THE KEY AND THEN IT FINALLY CATCHES AND STARTS .I UNDERSTAND THIS HAS BEEN RECALLED IN ONLY CERTAIN STATES.
VEHICLE STARTED MISTING GAS BY THE PASSENGER REAR WHEEL.
WENT TO DRIVE CAR TODAY, WHILE AT THE FIRST STOP SIGN, WAITING FOR TRAFFIC I STARTED SMELLING GAS, GOT TO MY DESTINATION, AND LOOKED UNDER THE CAR, AND GAS WAS DRIPPING VERY FAST FROM JUST IN FRONT OF THE LEFT REAR TIRE, WITHIN 1 INCH OF THE EXHAUST PIPE, IT APPEARS TO BE LEAKING FROM NUMEROUS SPOTS BY THE LEFT REAR TIRE
FUEL LEAKING UNDERNEATH CAR. I FILLED THE TANK FULLY AND DROVE TO WORK 5 MILES. AFTERWORK I GET IN CAR AND AS I GOT CLOSER THE ODOR OF RAW GASOLINE FUMES WERE NOTICED. I DROVE HOME PARKING ON DIRT NO LEAKS SEEN NEXT DAY AS I'M GOING TO WORK, I LOOK AT THE GAS GAUGE TO SEE NEARLY A 1/4 OF TANK IS GONE. I GET TO WORK, LET THE CAR SIT FOR 2 HOURS. WHEN LOOKING UNDERNEATH THE CAR, I HAD NOTICED A PUDDLE OF GASOLINE UNDER THE CAR WITH AGAIN A STRONG ODOR OF GASOLINE. CAR IS NOT DRIVEN IN THE WINTER AND IS KEPT IN GARAGE DURING WINTER SEASONS
SEVER FUEL LEAK AT DRIVERS SIDE REAR ABOVE EXHAUST WHEN RUNNING. A STEEL LINE IS LEAKING AT A PLASTIC MOUNTING CLIP DUE TO SEVERE CORROSION.
I SMELLED GAS. TOOK IT TO THE SHOP. THE FUEL SUPPLY LINE WAS LEAKING. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY, WHY NOT? I'M HAVING THE FUEL FILTER REPLACED, WHICH IS COVERED. PLUS, MY CAR IS LOSING POWER WHILE ON THE INTERSTATE. I SEE THE ELECTRIC POWER ASSIST IS UNDER RECALL, BUT THE DEALER TOLD ME IT DOESN'T APPLY TO MY CAR, WHY NOT? IN MOTION, ON THE INTERSTATE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO GET AN OIL CHANGE AND WAS INFORMED THAT UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE WAS SEVERELY RUSTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 146,000.
SMELL GAS ON LEFT REAR SIDE OF CAR AFTER STOPPING
WHILE IN MOTION THE SERVICE AIR BAG LIGHT COME ON AND GOES OFF RANDOMLY. A MALFUNCTION IN THE SENSOR OR OTHER AREA HAS LEAD TO PREMATURE AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT IN OTHER'S VEHICLES. AIRBAGS ARE A SAFETY FEATURE THAT GIVE PIECE OF MIND THAT I CURRENTLY DO NOT HAVE. THIS IS THE CAR WE ARE CONSIDERING HANDING DOWN TO OUR TEENAGE SON BUT AM CONCERNED WITH THIS WARMING THAT WILL NOT GO AWAY. MY AIR BAG LIGHTS ON DASH FOR DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE COME ON AT RANDOM. I ALSO HAVE A LIGHT ON MY DASH THAT'S SAYS SERVICE AIR BAG. I HAVE WENT TO THE CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAY THERE IS NO RECALL FOR THIS. IT WORRIES ME WITH MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR THAT IF I HAVE A ACCIDENT THAT THE AIRBAGS IN THE VEHICLE COULD NOT DEPLOY. THIS COULD LEAD TO SERIOUS INJURY OR EVEN DEATH. CHEVROLET DOESN'T SEEM TO CARE WHETHER OR NOT IT GETS FIXED. IT HAPPENS AT RANDOM SOMETIMES WHEN I START THE CAR OTHER TIMES WHEN I'M DRIVING. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED AND CONFIRMED THE POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 10V073000 (STEERING) HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WERE MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.

I HAVE NOTICED A STRONG GAS SMELL COMING FROM THE CAR RIGHT AFTER I PARKED MY CAR. AND DISCOVERED GAS LEAKING THROUGH THE GAS LINES VERY FAST. I'VE NOTICED THAT MANY CHEVY COBALT CARS ENCOUNTER THIS ISSUE WHEN I RESEARCHED THIS PROBLEM I HAVE. I AM SURPRISED IT HAS NOT BEEN CALLED FOR RECALL
I'VE GIVEN THIS CAR REGULARLY BY THE BOOK MAINTENANCE AND NOW I'M BEING TOLD THE TRANSMISSION IS BAD AND NEEDS REPLACING. THERE ARE NO REPAIR MECHANICS THAT WANT TO REPLACE IT EITHER. THEY ALL STATE IT IS TOO COMPLICATED TO GET TOO. THEY TELL ME ITS CHEAPER TO BUY A NEW CAR. WITH THE AMOUNT OF CAR I'VE GIVEN THIS CAR, THERE SHOULD BE NO REASON THE TRANSMISSION SHOULD GO BAD. ANYTHING SMALL WITH IT SHOULD BE EASY TO REPAIR. IT IS AS IF THE ENGINEERS SET THE CONSUMER UP TO FAIL. I HAVE A GREAT CAR THAT IS ONLY AN 08 WITH A NICE BODY, STARTS INSTANTLY, AND NO ONE WILL TOUCH THE TRANSMISSION! WHEN I START OFF WITH THIS VEHICLE AND I SLOWLY START TO TAKE OFF FROM 0-20 IT TAKES IT A STRANGE AMOUNT OF TIME TO GET TO 20MPH THAN ITS FINE. IT ALSO HAPPENS AT STOP SIGNS AND SOME LIGHTS. OCCASIONALLY, IF I TURN OFF THE CAR AND RESTART IT ITS FINE. I WAS FORCED TO PURCHASE A SECOND VEHICLE AND DEALERS WOULD NOT EVEN ACCEPT IT AS A TRADE IN WHEN I TRIED TO GET A NEW CAR. LIKE I SAID, BODY WISE SHE IS IN GREAT CONDITION. WHAT IS GOING ON WITH THIS TRANSMISSION IS OUTRAGEOUS.
My back seat belts don’t work properly. It takes 10-20 mins to try to get it to come out to buckle up. It locks up no matter how many times to let it roll up and try again. It’s happened since I’ve owned my car since 2019-2020. It’s the back seat belts only

THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE CONTACT RESEARCHED THE FAILURE AND FOUND THAT THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING WAS FAULTY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 147,649.
MY STEERING WHEEL HAS LOCKED ON ME WHILE DRIVING AWAY FROM MY SISTERS HOUSE. I DIDNT CRASH INTO ANYTHING. THANK GOODNESS. I WENT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP OF WHICH I FINANCED THE VEHICLE AND THE MAN SAID THERE THEY WILL NOT TAKE THE CAR BACK AND REFUND MY MONEY. IVE ONLY BEEN ABLE TO PAY 2 CAR PAYMENTS ON THIS CAR & PUT $1,600 FOR A DOWN-PAYMENT.
