FUEL LINE LEAK- GAS ODOR WHEN DRIVING AND PARK AND PUDDLE OF GAS IN DRIVE WAY COMING FROM LEFT BACK SIDE IN FRONT OF THE TIER. LOOKS TO COME FROM THE FUEL LIKE LEAKING. CAR HAS PROBLEMS STARTING AFTER SITTING FOR A FEW MINUTES WITHOUT MOVING.
DANGEROUS FUEL LEAK FROM GAS TANK, COULD CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH IF IGNITED. SMELL OF GASOLINE IS PRESENT INSIDE THE CABIN WHEN CAR IS RUNNING AND TURNED OFF.

THE SPEAKERS NO LONGER WORK IN FRONT VEHICLE, CANNOT HEAR ANY WARNINGS SUCH AS LOW FUEL, NO SEAT BELTS, LOW OIL ETC. THIS COULD BE POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS IF WARNINGS CANNOT BE HEARD. READ THAT OTHERS HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS AS WELL. ALSO, SEAT BELT CLIP BUTTON HAS BROKEN OFF, CAN STILL USE SEAT BELT BUT THE CLIP SLIDES TO FLOOR WHEN NOT USED.
DRIVER'S DOOR INTERIOR HANDLE BROKE OR BECAME DISCONNECTED TODAY, PROHIBITING EXIT FROM THE CAR AT THAT DOOR. CAN BE OPENED FROM OUTSIDE HANDLE.
REAR BRAKES WEAR THE PADS UNEVENLY AND SCRATCH THE ROTORS. COMMON PROBLEM THAT MOST 2008+ COBALT SS OWNERS EXPERIENCE. DUE TO THE FAULTY BRAKES, THE HAND BRAKE WILL OFTEN NOT WORK, WHICH IS A LARGE INCONVENIENCE IN A CAR THAT IS ONLY AVAILABLE WITH A MANUAL TRANSMISSION. THIS IS MOST NOTICEABLE WHEN TRYING TO PARK ON A HILL.

AT APPROXIMATELY 90,000 MILES, MY 2008 CHEVY COBALT LT SEDAN INTERMITTENTLY DISPLAYED A "SERVICE AIRBAG" INDICATOR ON THE DASHBOARD. THE INDICATOR WOULD APPEAR WITH AND WITHOUT A PASSENGER IN THE FRONT SEAT. I TOOK THE VEHICLE INTO A CHEVY DEALER ON 07-22-2016 FOR A DIAGNOSIS. THE DEALER FOUND HISTORY CODE B0081 AND CODE 23. THEY STATED THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT BELT RETRACTOR WAS NOT WORKING PROPERLY AND CAUSING THE "SERVICE AIRBAG" INDICATOR. THEY STATED THE SEAT BELT MY NOT ENGAGE IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT. AFTER RESEARCHING ONLINE, I FOUND SERVICE BULLETIN #270624, ACTION # 10032334 DESCRIBING THE EXACT SYMPTOMS AND ERROR CODES THAT MY VEHICLE HAD. I ADVISED THE DEALERSHIP OF THE SERVICE BULLETIN, THEY STATED THAT SINCE IT WAS NOT A RECALL, THE COST TO REPLACE THE SEAT BELT RETRACTOR WAS NOT COVERED BY CHEVY. I HAD THE RETRACTOR REPAIRED ON 08-09-2016. I FEEL THAT SINCE THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE AND COULD CAUSE SEVERE INJURY OR DEATH, CHEVY SHOULD MAKE THIS A RECALL AND REPAIR ALL AFFECTED VEHICLES.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 200,000.
WHILE DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS (30MPH) THE POWER STEERING LIGHT CAME ON. THE CAR STALLED, THE WHEEL TIGHTENED UP, THE SYMBOL WITH A LOCKED CAR TURNED ON. THE SPEEDOMETER STARTED MOVING UP AND DOWN CRAZYLY. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AS WELL. I MOVED TO THE SIDE BECAUSE IT WAS REALLY DIFFICULT TO CONTROL AND AS I DID THE CAR JUST KEPT STALLING WORSE AND WORSE. ONCE I PULLED OVER I TURNED OFF THE CAR. I WASNT AS FREAKED OUT AS THE FIRST TIME THIS OCCURRED SINCE THIS HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS OF TIMES AND I'VE TAKEN IT TO 3 DIFFERENT MECHANICS WHO DON'T KNOW HOW TO FIX IT AT ALL. IT'S VERY SCARY IT ALSO HAPPENED WHILE GOING AT 60MPH AND ALL I DO IS PULL OVER AND THEN CALL THE TOW OR DRIVE IT AT LOW SPEEDS HOME. I'M SURE I FALL IN THE CATEGORY FOR A RECALL BUT HAVE NEVER GOTTEN A RECALL LETTER. ITS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND SCARY TO DRIVE WITH FEAR OF THIS HAPPENING AT ANYTIME SPECIALLY WHEN YOU CARRY PASSENGERS. ALOT OF OTHER PEOPLE HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM AS ME AND IT'S ANNOYING HOPEFULLY GM FIXES THIS PROBLEM FOR US ALL.

THE ISSUE IS CAUSED BY THE MOVEMENT OF THE WIRES AND/OR MODULE WHEN THE PASSENGER SEAT IS OCCUPIED.

SEEMS LIKE THE ISSUE ALWAYS COMES BACK WHEN IT'S EXTREMELY HOT OUTSIDE. THIS IS AN ON GOING ISSUE FOR ABOUT 5 YEARS AND IT COMES AND GOES. EVERY MECHANIC I WENT TO THEIR CAR READER CAN'T READ MY CAR. ALSO IT HAS HAPPENED WHILE I WAS DRIVING AND AGAIN WHEN I'M PARKED AND JUST STARTED THE CAR. AND I HAVE HAD ALL THE RECALLS FIXED THAT WERE REPORTED.

STARTED CAR AND RECEIVED ERROR CODE STATING THAT POWER STEERING WAS NOT WORKING. DROVE AROUND MY APARTMENT COMPLEX AND CONFIRMED THAT IT IS NOT WORKING. I UNDERSTAND THERE WAS A RECALL FOR MY YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL FOR POWER STEERING BUT I DID NOT RECEIVE NOTICE OF THAT RECALL.
AT 3:30AM, THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE DOUGLAS PERFORMANCE GT-H TIRE 195/60R15 88H TIRE SPONTANEOUSLY EXPLODED WHILE SITTING IN MY GARAGE. IT BENT THE METAL FRAME AROUND THE WHEEL WELL, BLEW THE HEADLIGHT OUT COMPLETELY, AND CAUSED DAMAGE TO THE INTERIOR OF THE WHEEL WELL.

I HAVE A VERY BAD GAS ODOR INSIDE AND OUTSIDE OF MY CAR. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A MECHANIC. HE TOLD ME THAT MY FUEL LINE HAD ERODED. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS TO BE A COMMON ISSUE AND THE 2008 MODEL SHOULD HAVE BEEN RECALLED AS WELL.

I WAS DRIVING TO WORK LIKE NORMAL ON A STREET THAT GOES 30 MILES PER HOUR AND MY DOOR LOCKS STARTED LOCKING AND UNLOCKING RAPIDLY BY THEMSELVES AND THE ELECTRICITY WAS GOING ON AND OFF IN THE VEHICLE WHEN I REGAINED CONTROL OF MY VEHICLE THE POWER STEERING SHOWED UP ON MY INFORMATION DASHBROAD ALSO THE SPEEDOMETER WAS DEAD IT WAS NO LONGER WORKING IT ALSO BECAME MORE DIFFICULT TO HANDLE THE VEHICLE I TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC AND HE SAID THERE HAS TO BE A RECALL AS THE CAR ONLY HAS ABOUT 50,000 MILES IT I CHECKED THE WEBSITE NHSTA USING MY VIN NUMBER AND IT SAYS THERE IS NO RECALL SO CHECKED THE RECALLS FOR ALL CHEVY COBALT 2008 AND ALL OF THE HAD THE RECALL FOR THE ELECTRICAL AND POWER STEERING SO I CALLED MY LOCAL CHEVY DEALER AND EXPLAINED EVERYTHING AND THEN THEY ASKED FOR MY VIN SO I GIVE IT TO THEM AND THEY SAY THERE IS NO RECALL ON THIS PARTICULAR CHEVY COBALT AND THE THEY CAN'T HELP ME.

08 CHEVY COBALT SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER STEERING WHILE DRIVING IN HEAVY ATL TRAFFIC. CALLED THE CHEVY DEALERSHIP THEY INFORMED ME THAT MY RECALL WAS FIXED AN I WOULD HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM .THANK GOD I DIDN'T GET INTO A ACCIDENT BECAUSE THEY COULD CARE LESS. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET COBALT. WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE STEERING BECAME DIFFUCLT TO MANEUVER AND WOULD NOT AUTOMATICALLY ADJUST. WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, THE VEHICLE VEERED TO THE RIGHT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER STEERING FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000.
POWER STEERING COMPLETELY FAILS WHILE PARALLEL PARKING OR WHEN CAR IS STATIONARY AND YOU TRY TO TURN THE WHEEL, ITS IMPOSSIBLE TO STEER. SCARY TO THINK IF IT HAPPENS ON HIGHWAYS. STARTED A YEAR AGO AND NOW ITS PERMANENT
I STARTED MY CAR IN MY DRIVEWAY, IT STARTED AND THEN STALLED IMMEDIATELY AND WOULD NOT START AT ALL. I DIAGNOSED IT ALONG WITH MY FRIEND WHO IS A CERTIFIED MECHANIC. THE CAM CHAIN GUIDES BROKE AT LESS THAN 79000 MILES, CAUSING SLACK IN THE CAM CHAIN WHICH CAUSED IT TO JUMP TEETH ON THE INTAKE CAM, THROWING IT OUT OF SYNCHRONIZATION. THIS CAUSED THE INTAKE VALVES TO BE OPEN WHEN THE PISTON REACHED THE TOP OF ITS TRAVEL, WHICH BENT THE VALVES. THIS IS A VERY COMMON ISSUE ON THE 2.2 ENGINES, BUT VERY UNUSUAL FOR SUCH A LOW MILEAGE VEHICLE. THE ENGINE HAS A 100,000 MILE WARRANTY BUT ONLY FOR 5 YEARS. I ONLY DRIVE ON AVERAGE 10,000 MILES A YEAR. THE ENGINE IS WELL BELOW 100,000 MILES AND GM WILL NOT ADMIT THAT THEY HAVE A DESIGN FLAW ON THESE ENGINES AND WILL NOT MAKE THIS REPAIR FOR ME UNDER WARRANTY.
GAS LEAKS FROM UNDER THE GAS TANK RIGHT ABOVE THE MUFFLER. CONSISTENT DRIP ONTO THE MUFFLER AND ONTO THE GROUND. THIS NOT ONLY CAUSES AN INJURY RISK BUT IT HAS A FINANCIAL IMPACT AS THE GAS LEAKS AND COST MONEY.

THE VEHICLE WAS ALSO TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD A CRACKED FUEL PUMP. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 12V459000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE) HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 90,140.
I JUST BOUGHT 2008 CHEVY COBALT. THE SELLER REPORTED THE MILEAGE INITIALLY AS 112,000. AT TIME OF PURCHASE, 150,000 APPROXIMATELY. HOWEVER THERE WAS/IS NO WAY TO VIEW MILEAGE ON DASH OF CAR, WITH THE EXCEPTION OF BRIEFLY PRIOR TO STARTING THE VEHICLE. IT ACTUALLY SHOWS APPROXIMATELY 159,000 KM. CONVERSION OF KM INTO MILES SAYS 98,000. AND THEY KEPT THE CAR FOR TWO WEEKS BECAUSE THEY COULD NOT REPRODUCE SYMPTOMS. I WAS CHARGED FOR INSPECTING CAR, BUT CAR WAS NOT FIXED. I CONTACTED CHEVYS MAINI HEADQUARTERS AND EXPLAINED THE SITUATION. I INFORMED REPRESENT I'VE THAT I DID NOT FEEL SAFE WITH MY DAUGHTER DRIVING THE CAR. SHE ADVISED ME NOT TO DRIVE THE CAR. PROBLEM IS IS THAT I STILL AM MAKING PAYMENTS AND INSURANCE ON VEHICLE MY DAUGHTER ENDED UP BUYING ANOTHER CAR SINCE THEN , DO TO THIS SAFETY ISSUE. I NOW HAVE CAR, WHICH I HAVE HAD TO DRIVE FOR THE LAST MONTH AND IT IS DOING THE SAME THING, YET MORE FREQUENTLY. NO , I WAS WRONG AGAIN. I AM COMPLETE DISSAPPOINTED IN CHEVY FOR MAKING SUCH A WORTHLESS PIECE OF JUNK AND THEN NOT HAVING THE INTEGRITY TO OWE UP TO IT'S FAULT IN DEVELOPING A SUBSTAINDURED PRODUCT. IN THE PROCESS OF TRYING TO FIND A SOLUTION OR REPAIR FOR THIS, I HAVE COME ACROSS HUNDREDS IF NOT THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE. GM HAD GO ME TO A DEALERSHIP AND CONFIRM CORROSION PROBLEM (WANTED 750 DOLLARS TO FIX). TALK TO REP.FOR GM , MENTIONED I FELT POOR DESIGN AND PROTENTAL SAFETY =MAY CAUSE FIRE. DID HAVE FIX AT GARAGE FOR 200DOLLARS. NOW CORRODING AGAIN AFTER 2YRS. THIS CONFIRMS GAS LINES IN POCKET UP ABOVE MUFFER TRAPS HEAT AND MOSITURE CAUSEING CORROSION. SO THE NEXT MORNING, WHICH WAS MONDAY, I TOOK IT TO MY DEALERSHIP GILLMAN CHEVROLET IN SAN BENITO, TEXAS. BEFORE TAKING IT, I DECIDED TO CALL SO I CAN FIRST MAKE SURE THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE FUEL TANK. THE GENTLEMAN I SPOKE TO SAID "YES MA'AM THERE IS A RECALL AND WE CAN REPAIR IT". I SAID GREAT, LET ME TAKE IT IN. I LEFT IT THERE ALL DAY MONDAY AND HE ASSURED ME THAT IT WOULD BE READY BY THE NEXT DAY ON TUESDAY. WELL COME TUESDAY AND I GET A CALL FROM THE THE SAME MAN TELLING ME THAT THE PROBLEM IS NOT THE FUEL PUMP, IT'S THE FUEL TANK. WHEN DID I SAY FUEL PUMP? I SAID FUEL TANK. SO NOWWWW IT'S NOT UNDER WARRANTY AND IT'S GOING TO COST ME AT LEAST $700 TO FIX IT. I TOLD HIM HAD I KNOWN THAT IT WASN'T UNDER WARRANTY, I WOULDN'T HAVE LEFT MY CAR SITTING THERE FOR 2 DAYS! I COULD'VE TAKEN IT SOMEWHERE ELSE! IT MAKES NO SENSE TO ME! HE SAID THAT HE OVER LOOKED IT. WELL HOW IS THAT MY FAULT??! NOW TO DRIVE IT SOMEWHERE ELSE WHICH IS DANGEROUS! MY FUEL PUMP WAS LEAKING, SO WE HAD THE FUEL PUMP REPLACED AND NOW THE AIR CONDITIONING/HEATER/DEFROST SYSTEMS NO LONGER WORK. WE'VE HAD TO REPLACE THE STEERING COLUMN, THE FUEL INJECTION, AND A LEAKING FRONT WINDSHIELD TWICE.ALSO THE FUEL SWITCH. NOW THE CAR SOMEWHAT STALLS WHEN TRYING TO START.
