NO CRANK/ NO START. THIS IS A WIDESPEREAD AND VERY COMMON ISSUE WITH ALL YEARS CHEVY COLORADOS AND HAPPENS INTERMITTENTLY WHERE THE ENGINE WILL NOT CRANK (TURN OVER). THIS CAN BE A PARTICULARLY UNSAFE ISSUE FOR MANUAL TRANSMISSION MODELS IF FOR SOME REASON THE VEHICLE IS STALLED IN TRAFFIC OR LEAVING THE DRIVER STRANDED IN SOME REMOTE AREA UNDER ADVERSE WEATHER CONDITIONS, FOR EXAMPLE AND WILL NOT START. THIS HAPPENS SPORATICALLY, VERY DIFFICULT TO DUPLICATE MAKING THIS VEHICLE UNRELIABLE AND UNSAFE. GM DOES NOT ACKNOWLEDGE THERE IN AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM AS NO RECALLS HAVE BEEN ISSUED. *TR
TRAVELING ON A DARK COLD NIGHT WHEN VEHICLE CODED SERVICE ENGINE ABS AND TRACTION CONTROL CAME ON WE HAD NO HEADLIGHTS BRAKES LIGHTS NO WIPERS NO HEAT OR AIR AND UNABLE TO UNLOCK DOORS. WE WERE FORTUNATE THAT WE GIT OFF THE SIDE IF ROAD BEFORE ANY COLLISON. WE WERE UNABLE TO GET ANYTHING TO COME BACK ON FOR A FEW MINUTES. WE ACTUALLY HAD TO SHUT OFF VEHICLE AND RESTART THAT WORKED UNTIL WE COULD GET HOME. NO ONE CM TELL US WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE TRUCK. NOW IT IS NOT RUNNING AND UNABLE TO DRIVE IT. NOT VERY PLEASED WITH THIS TRUCK. WE BOUGHT IT NEW IN 2009. I FEEL THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM GM SHOULD HAVE TO FIX. I STILL CAN'T FIND A RECALL FOR THIS VEHICLE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 CHEVROLET COLORADO. THE VEHICLE STALLED WHEN THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO START THE ENGINE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE STARTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
VEHICLE WILL NOT START , CRANK OVER , NOTHING ,MUST WAIT 10 MINUTES FOR IGNITION TO CLEAR IN ORDER TO START . CONDITION HAPPENS RANDOMLY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 CHEVROLET COLORADO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED CONTINUOUSLY. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE AIR BAG WIRE HARNESS TRAVELED THROUGH THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR HINGE AND, WITH EXCESSIVE USAGE OF THE DOOR, THE WIRES FRACTURED AND CAUSED THE AIR BAG INDICATOR TO ILLUMINATE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
THE 2009 MODEL CHEVROLET COLORADO WILL NOT START WHEN I TURN THE KEY IN THE IGNITION SWITCH. THE INCIDENT DATE AND MILEAGE MAY NOT BE CORRECT, HOWEVER WHEN I FIRST BEGAN EXPERIENCING THIS PROBLEM, I WOULD ALWAYS CALL ON-STAR AND THEY WOULD RUN A DIAGNOSTIC CHECK WHILE THE CAR WASN'T OPERATING PROPERLY. THE DIAGNOSTIC WOULD ALWAYS COME BACK " NORMAL". I LEARNED THAT IF I WAITED 5-9 MINUTES, THE VEHICLE WOULD START AS IF NOTHING WERE WRONG. THE " NO-START " HAS BECOME MORE FREQUENT. I HAVE BEEN IN CONTACT WITH GM RECENTLY CONCERNING THE "NO START" PROBLEM AND AN "AIR BAG" SENSOR LIGHT THAT HAS RECURRED AFTER THE FIRST DEALERSHIP "SUPPOSEDLY REPAIRED" AND CHARGED ALMOST $300 ( THE BILLING STATEMENT READ " RESET SENSORS" AND THE DEALERSHIP REFUSED TO ELABORATE ON THE TYPE OF SENSORS THAT WERE "RESET" ). GM MADE ARRANGEMENTS FOR A SECOND DEALERSHIP TO LOOK AT THE "AIR BAG" ISSUE, BUT REFUSED TO ADDRESS THE "NO-START" ISSUE. THE DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT- BELT PRETENSIONER WAS REPLACED FOR $303. THE REPAIRMAN RELATED THE PRETENSIONER TO THE "AIR BAG" SENSOR LIGHT. I INQUIRED ABOUT REIMBURSEMENT FOR REPAIRS AND RECALLS ON THE 2009 COLORADO AND WAS RUDELY INFORMED THAT REIMBURSEMENTS WOULD BE" DENIED". AFTER GIVING TWO SCENARIOS OF ME BEING IN AN INJURY AND FATAL ACCIDENT RELATED TO THE "NO-START" ISSUE, I WAS TOLD BY THE GM REPRESENTATIVE THAT "WE WILL DEAL WITH IT, THEN!". I ASKED IF THERE HAD BEEN ANY RECALLS FOR IGNITION SWITCHES ON GM PRODUCTS AND WAS TOLD "YES, BUT THERE WAS NO OPEN RECALL ON MY PARTICULAR VEHICLE" . I RESEARCHED RECALLS ON THE 2009 CHEVROLET COLORADO AND DISCOVERED A FUEL SYSTEM CONTROL MODULE RECALL DATED MAY 6, 2009 BEFORE I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE IN JULY 2009 (NHTSA CAMPAIGN # 09V-154), AND THE PRODUCT SAFETY RECALL BULLETIN NO. 08411 INCLUDES VIN NUMBERS 98104802 THROUGH 98123134. MY VIN NUMBER, IS INCLUDED IN THIS RANGE. PLEASE HELP ! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 CHEVROLET COLORADO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE DID NOT START AFTER TURNING THE KEY IN THE IGNITION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE MUST REMAIN PARKED FOR TEN MINUTES IN ORDER TO BECOME OPERABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT INITIALLY BELIEVED THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO A DEAD BATTERY. THE CONTACT REPLACED THE BATTERY, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS INTERMITTENT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 60,000.
NO INCIDENT BUT WANTED TO REPORT POTENTIAL HAZARDS: I HAVE A 2009 CHEVY COLORADO AND HAVE A COUPLE SAFETY COMPLAINTS. TIRE CHANGING- THIS VEHICLE IS VERY STRANGE AND UNSAFE TO ME WHEN TRYING TO CHANGE A TIRE. - THE TOP OF THE JACK IS BARELY CONCAVE(YOU HAVE TO LOOK CLOSELY) AND A LARGE ROUND AXLE HAS TO REST ON THAT SLIGHTLY CONCAVE INDENTATION OF THE JACK, IT COULD EASILY FALL OFF EVEN WHEN THE JACK IS ON A CONCRETE FLOOR. - YOU HAVE TO SLIDE ON YOUR BACK WAY UNDER THE VEHICLE TO POSITION THE JACK DIRECTLY UNDER THE VEHICLE'S AXLE ELSE IT'S AT RISK OF FALLING OFF THE JACK DUE TO MISALIGNMENT. HOW'S ANYONE SUPPOSED TO DO THAT ON THE SHOULDER AT NIGHT. - YOU HAVE TO ASSEMBLE THIS LONG 3-PIECE ROD TO SLIP INTO THE JACK AND KEEP THE JACK FROM MOVING WHEN YOU'RE CRANKING THE JACK UP TO MEET THE AXLE, HOW IS ANYONE SUPPOSED TO DO THAT W/O MOVING THE JACK? HAZARD FLASHERS- ONE DAY I NEEDED TO TURN ON THE HAZARD FLASHERS BECAUSE A DISABLED VEHICLE WAS IN FRONT OF ME. I LOOKED ALL OVER AND COULD NOT FIND THE HAZARD LIGHTS SWITCH. I HAVE DRIVEN MOSTLY GM'S MY ENTIRE LIFE, THE HAZARD SWITCH HAS ALWAYS BEEN IN PLAIN SIGHT AND RED, NEVER DID FIND IT ON THE COLORADO AND DON'T HAVE TIME TO READ A BIG THICK MANUAL IN AN EMERGENCY. I HAVE ALWAYS LIKED GM'S(ONE OF THEIR BIGGEST ADVOCATES) BUT ON THE COLORADO KEEP THINKING, "WHERE WERE THEIR EVALUATION EMPLOYEES W/THE COLORADO, THERE ARE SO MANY THING THAT WEREN'T DESIGNED RIGHT". THEY ARE BASIC THINGS THAT WOULDN'T COST ANY MORE TO DO RIGHT. SAFETY-WISE THE JACK IS A HUGE HAZARD TO ME, COULD FALL OFF THE JACK SO EASILY, WHY DIDN'T THEY DO LIKE THE S10 OR MONTE CARLO AND HAVE A LARGE BUMP OR TABS ON THE JACK THA CATCH THE EDGE OF THE FRAME.
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

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 CHEVROLET COLORADO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS SHIFTED INTO PARK WHEN THE ENGINE BEGAN TO REV AND JERK SLIGHTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN SHUT OFF AND THE CONTACT COULD SMELL A STRONG ODOR OF FUEL. UPON EXITING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT FUEL WAS LEAKING FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT A RODENT CHEWED THROUGH THE PLASTIC FUEL LINES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 22,000.
FOR THE SECOND TIME SINCE I BOUGHT MY 2009 COLORADO IN DECEMBER OF 2010, I HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH THE IGNITION SWITCH. THE ENGINE DOESN'T EVEN TRY TO TURN OVER. THE DASH TELLS ME THAT THE IGNITION IS IN THE LOCK POSITION WHEN IT CLEARLY ISN'T. I EVEN TRIED USING THE SPARE KEY IN CASE THE KEY ITSELF WAS THE ISSUE. IT HASN'T BEEN FIXED YET, AND THE ONLY THING I CAN DO IS KEEP TRYING UNTIL IT DECIDES TO SEND THE MESSAGE TO START THE TRUCK. THIS TAKES ABOUT 10 MINUTES OR SO OF CONSTANTLY TRYING TO START THE TRUCK. *TR
The contact owns a 2009 Chevrolet Colorado. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the sun visor fell down obstructing the driver’s view. Additionally, the contact stated that the frame was not properly aligned which caused loud wind noise to enter the cabin which interfered with hearing sirens or horns honking. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a local dealer or independent mechanic to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 33,000.
ON SATURDAY OCT 24 2009 I WAS DRIVING MY 2009 CHEVROLET COLORADO WITH 1863 MILES ON IT ON THE HIGHWAY IN CHICAGO ALL OF A SUDDEN MY WIFE AND I FELT A SHUDDER IN THE TRUCK I THOUGHT IT WAS THE WIND ABOUT A MILE FURTHER WE FELT A EXPLOSION UNDER THE TRUCK SPARKS AND SMOKE COMING FROM UNDER THE TRUCK I THOUGHT IT WAS A BLOWN TIRE IT WASN'T FOUND OUT THAT WHAT HAPPENED WAS THE FRONT END OF THE DIFFERENTIAL HAD BLOWN OUT TAKING THE DRIVE SHAFT AND PART OF THE MUFFLER SYSTEM WITH IT WE WERE LUCKY TO MAKE IT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD I HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE IT IS RIGHT NOW THEY TELL ME THEY ARE REPLACING WITH ALL NEW PARTS THEY DO NOT KNOW HOW THIS HAPPENED THIS WAS A BRAND NEW TRUCK TWO MONTHS OLD WITH ONE THOUSAND EIGHT HUNDRED MILES ON IT. *TR

THE CONTACT WAS NOT ABLE TO ACCESS THE VEHICLE SEVERAL TIMES DUE TO THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO REPLACED THE IGNITION SWITCH TWICE, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO ACCESS THE VEHICLE, BUT WAS UNABLE TO DUE TO THE SECURITY SYSTEM ACTIVATING UPON TRYING TO ACCESS THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ANOTHER AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO ALSO DIAGNOSED THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE SEVERAL TIMES. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 CHEVROLET COLORADO. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 40 MPH AND CRASHED INTO A WALL. THE IMPACT FORCED THE CONTACT INTO THE STEERING WHEEL CAUSING INJURY TO THE CHEST. THE AIR BAG SYSTEM DID NOT DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS COMPLETELY DESTROYED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 18,500.
