On October 3, 2025 the driver of the 2016 Chevy Colorado we own, left our house and drove .5 miles where he stopped for a red light. The light turned green and he accelerated to make a left turn. At that time, the gas gauge dropped to "E", the truck engine turned off, and gas emptied from the gas tank. The driver managed to coast the truck onto the curb and out of traffic. The gas smell was overpowering. This could have ended badly in many ways. Had he been driving on interstate, he would have been trapped, and any spark could have ignited the truck. Even the tow truck driver knew there was a gas leak without even examining the truck. The truck was towed to our house until arrangements were made tor the repair. The truck was towed again to the Chevy dealership (Total Tow Charges $344.85 invoices not available at this time). The repair shop found both the fuel pump and fuel feed cracked allowing gas to spew out. The VIN number was searched for the NHTSA recall number 18V-358 and the Chevy recall number 18188 and was not found. There were no warnings of the impending failure and no one was injured due to the failure. The vehicle repair was completed on October 15, 2025. Removed parts are available for inspection. We contend that the problem is related to the recall for the fuel pump in above recall numbers.
Yes I am filing a complaint due to my high-pressure fuel pump line and also the fuel pump. The fuel pump works but it is very dry rotted on the top therefore resulting in a lot of cracks and pressure loss. I have a 2016 Chevy Colorado four-door. When I go to look up recalls there is recalls on the 2016 to 2018 Chevy Colorado’s due to this exact problem. But when I call Dell Earnhardt Chevrolet in Tallahassee Florida they state that it does not include my Vin number. I think it’s kind of funny that my truck is having this exact issue but not this phone number please obviously the recall needs to be expanded to include my Vin numbers. Anyway it goes I have a 2016 Chevy Colorado that I paid cash money for and there is no way should my fuel pump be dry rotted and cracked like it is and the fuel pump is still in working condition. What led me to this diagnosis was I was driving down the highway when multiple times my vehicle jaunted to a halt. I was able to crank it back up and go a few more miles before it would happen again. At this point I took it to my mechanic to put it on a code reader and it was reading fuel pump modular. I Cut a hole in the bed of my truck and was able to save fuel spraying everywhere for my high-pressure fuel pump line. I ordered this line from Dale Earnhardt Chevrolet for $62. When we get there and put the line on the fuel pump it is the fuel pump nipple and the top of the fuel pump is extremely dry rotted and cracked. There is no way should the fuel pump be dry rotted and crack on a six year old vehicle. Like I said the light never came on till after a few times of shouting me to a halt and this is my complaint
The contact owns a 2016 Chevrolet Colorado. The contact stated while driving approximately 10 MPH and slowing down for traffic or a traffic signal, the vehicle would start to vibrate excessively. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated, and the vehicle almost stalled. The contact had taken the vehicle to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed and determined that the canister purge valve needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that the vehicle experienced the failure two more times and was taken to the same mechanic. The contact stated that he had purchased the purge valve from an auto parts store and later purchased the valve from the manufacturer. The contact stated that the vehicle was repaired; however, the contact believed that the valves sold were defective. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000.
AFTER FUELING, THE VEHICLE CRANKS BUT DOES NOT START. AFTER SITTING FOR APPROXIMATELY 10 MINUTES, THE ENGINE WILL START BUT IDLES ROUGHLY FOR A FEW MORE MINUTES. ALSO AFTER LONG HIGHWAY DRIVES, THE ENGINE WILL RUN ROUGHLY AND OCCASIONALLY STALL WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STOPPED. VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT TO DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED AS A FAULTY PURGE SOLENOID. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM IN 2015 MODELS AS DETAILED IN GM SPECIAL COVERAGE ADJUSTMENT LETTER #18029. THIS 2016 MODEL YEAR IS NOT INCLUDED.
I SMELL GAS INTERMITTENTLY. VERY STRONG WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY AND CITY STREETS.
THE (EMISSIONS) EVAP VALVE ISSUE SEEN IN 2017-2020 MODELS THAT HAVE AN ACTIVE RECALL PUT, IS HAPPENING WITH MY CURRENT MODEL (2016), YET NO RECALL HAS BEEN SENT FORWARD FOR 2016S.

THE DEF MODULE KIT WAS REPLACED ON OCTUBRE 7 AND THE ENGINE LIGHT IS ON AGAIN THE CODES ARE P203C, P204C AND P205C. THESE CODES ARE RELATED WITH THE DEF FLUID AND MY TRUCK HAD THE LOW DEF MESSAGE ON TWICE IN THE LAST TWO WEEKS EVEN THOUGH THE TRUCK STILL HAS DEF (FLUID) IN THE TANK.
I PURCHASED A BRAND NEW 2016 CHEVROLET COLORADO DUROMAX DIESEL IN SEPTEMBER OF 2016. AT 9,638 MILES THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON FOR THE NOX SENSOR. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THEM BUT IT DID NOT FIX ANYTHING. AS IT TURNS OUT THE ISSUE WAS A RECALL WHICH REPROGRAMMED THE ECU. THEY DECIDED TO MAKE THE TOLERANCES LOOSER ON THE SENSORS. AT 10,647 MILES THERE WAS A LOUD WINING COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THE RACE TO THE PINION BEARING IN THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL WAS PITTED AND CAUSING THE BEARING TO FAIL. THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL NEEDED TO BE REBUILT. AT 22715 MILES THE TRUCK WOULD GO INTO REDUCED POWER MODE WHICH IS 25 MILES PER HOUR IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FREEWAY CAUSING OTHER MOTORISTS TO SWERVE TO AVOID A COLLISION. WHEN THE TRUCK WAS TURNED OFF AND TURNED BACK ON THE ERROR WOULD CLEAR AND THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVABLE AGAIN. THE DEALERSHIP COULD NOT REPLICATE THE ISSUE SO IT TOOK MANY VISITS BEFORE THEY REPLACED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL POSITION SENSOR. AFTER THIS DID NOT FIX THE ISSUE AND ALMOST CAUSED ANOTHER ACCIDENT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN IN AND THE COMPLETE WIRING HARNESS WAS REPLACE. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE CONNECTORS WERE IMPROPERLY CRIMPED AT THE FACTORY. THE TRUCK IS NOW AT THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN AT 26,000 MILES TO REPLACE THE DIESEL EXHAUST FLUID PUMP. THIS FAULT ALSO CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO GO INTO REDUCED POWER MODE WHICH ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT AGAIN. THIS VEHICLE IS NOT RELIABLE, DANGEROUS, AND I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING IT, ESPECIALLY WHEN MY FAMILY IS WITH ME. I CONTACTED CHEVROLET CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE TEAM CONCENTRIX ON BEHALF OF CHEVROLET TO SEEK A SOLUTION ON A BRAND NEW VEHICLE THAT HAD MAJOR PROBLEMS. THE REPRESENTATIVE DID NOT CARE AND TOLD ME TO PURSUE A RESOLUTION ON MY OWN.
ONGOING PROBLEM WITH DIESEL FUEL LEAK WHICH BEGAN IN OCTOBER 2017. WILL BE RETURNING TO THE DEALER ON 27 MARCH 2018 FOR CAUSE SEARCH OF THE PROBLEM AND REPAIR. DEALER CONFIRMED ONE OF THE DIESEL FUEL LEAKS DURING NOVEMBER 2017 WAS A LEAK AT THE FUEL PUMP AND A LOOSE FUEL LINE. PROBLEM HAS RETURNED AFTER 3900 MILES OF USE. DIESEL FUMES PERMEATE THE CABIN AND DIESEL FUEL COVERS THE DRIVER'S SIDE OF THE TRUCK FROM THE FRONT WHEEL WELL ALONG THE BODY TO THE REAR LEFT BUMPER. HAVE CONTACTED CHEVROLET CORPORATE DURING NOVEMBER 2017 TO MAKE THEM AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND CREATE A FORMAL CASE REPORT. HAVE STARTED ANOTHER CASE REPORT WITH CHEVROLET AS OF FRIDAY (23 MARCH 2018) TO SEEK A PERMANENT AND DURABLE RESOLUTION TO THIS PROBLEM.

THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE SAME DEALER WHERE THE DIESEL PLUG FILTER WAS CLEANED FOR A SECOND TIME AND RESTARTED THE SOFTWARE OF THE GENERAL COMPUTER SYSTEM. THE MANUFACTURER HAD BEEN INFORMED OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 13,565.
