AT ONLY 21,179 MILES, MY DEALER INSPECTED BOTH CYLINDER HEAD BANKS AND FOUND VALVE GUIDE CLEARANCE TO BE WELL OUT OF MAXIMUM ALLOWED SPECIFICATION. THIS DEFECT PUTS UNDUE STRESS ON THE HOLLOW, SODIUM-FILLED EXHAUST VALVES. IF AN EXHAUST VALVE BREAKS, THE EXHAUST VALVE WILL DROP INTO THE COMBUSTION CHAMBER, AND CAUSE A COMPLETE, CATASTROPHIC FAILURE OF THE ENGINE. THIS CAUSES HAZARDOUS CONDITIONS FOR THE DRIVER, PASSENGER, AND SURROUNDING TRAFFIC: THE DRIVE WHEELS MAY BECOME LOCKED AS THE ENGINE SEIZES AND THE ENGINE BLOCK MAY BECOME WINDOWED BY A ROD, CAUSING A LARGE SPILL OF OIL AND COOLANT IMMEDIATELY UNDER THE VEHICLE ON THE ROADWAY. THESE CONDITIONS COULD LEAD TO A SEVERE ACCIDENT FROM A SUDDEN SPIN AND/OR A FIRE. I HAVE LITTLE CONFIDENCE THAT THE CYLINDER HEADS REPLACED ON MY CAR ARE FREE FROM THE VALVE GUIDE CLEARANCE DEFECT. AS MORE OWNERS HAVE BECOME AWARE OF THE PROBLEM, REPLACEMENT CYLINDER HEADS HAVE BEEN MEASURED BEFORE INSTALLATION ON THE ENGINE AND HAVE BEEN FOUND TO HAVE DEFECTS IN VALVE GUIDE CLEARANCE AND VALVE GUIDE TO SEAT CONCENTRICITY, SUCH AS WHAT COULD LEAD TO A DROPPED EXHAUST VALVE AND AN ACCIDENT. THE VEHICLES SHOULD BE RECALLED AND FIXED BEFORE ANY MORE SERIOUS ACCIDENTS OCCUR. ALTHOUGH MY VEHICLE DID NOT FAIL DESPITE HAVING THE DEFECT, I HAVE SEEN A VIDEO OF A SPIN CAUSED BY THE FAILURE, I HAVE SEEN PICTURES OF A VEHICLE AFTER A FIRE CAUSED BY THE FAILURE, AND I HAVE SEEN REPORTS OF APPROXIMATELY 35 FAILURES; ALL FROM CORVETTEFORUM.COM. THEREFORE I AM CONCERNED ABOUT MY SAFETY WHEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE AND I BELIEVE THE NHTSA SHOULD INVESTIGATE THE MATTER. *TR
EXHAUST VALVE GUIDES ARE EXCESSIVELY WORN BEYOND SERVICE LIMIT. APPROXIMATELY 4 TIMES SERVICE LIMIT. THIS IS A DEFINITE SAFETY HAZARD TO ME AND TO THOSE AROUND ME. THE WORN VALVE GUIDE CAUSES THE EXHAUST VALVE TO STRETCH, AND EVENTUALLY BREAK. WHEN THE VALVE HEAD BREAKS, IT BEATS ITS WAY OUT OF THE ENGINE, CAUSING POTENTIALLY: ENGINE LOCKUP, OIL SPILL ON HIGHWAY, LARGE SMOKE CLOUD AND DEBRIS OUT THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE IMMINENT DANGER TO THOSE AROUND ME DUE TO LOSS OF VISION AND SLIPPERY ROADWAY. THIS ISSUE AFFECTS ALL 2006 TO 2013 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06. *TR
THE SHIFT BUTTON WILL NOT DEPRESS AND WILL NOT SHIFT OUT OF PARK. INTERMITTEN ISSUE. IT CAN TAKE UPTO 50 ATTEMPTS BEFORE IT WILL WORK. DEALER CLAIMS IT ISNT AND ISSUE IF THEY CANNOT REPEAT THE PROBLEM.
THE LOW-BEAM HEADLIGHTS ON THE C6 BASE MODEL CORVETTE 2005-2008 WILL STOP WORKING WITH OUT NOTICE WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT. THIS IS DUE TO A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE COPPER WIRE CONNECTIONS LOCATED WITHIN THE FUSEBOX. DUE TO DEFECT AND BEING CLOSE TO ENGINE BAY, HEAT CAUSES A BREAK IN THE CIRCUIT WIRE THAT SEPARATES AFTER THE ENGINE BAY HEATS UP (APPROX. 20 MINS OF DRIVING) AND WITHOUT NOTICE, YOUR LIGHTS GO OUT. VERY VERY DANGEROUS WHEN DRIVING ON HIGHWAYS AT SPEED.PLEASE ISSUE A RECALL ON THE FUSEBOX. *TR
AIR BAG LIGHT COMES ON INTERMITTENTLY. PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE RELATED TO AIR BAG CONNECTOR BENEATH DRIVERS SEAT. MOVING THE SEAT POSITION WILL CAUSE THE WARNING LAMP TO COME ON OR TURN OFF. I TIGHTENED THE CONNECTORS WITH WIRE TIES WHICH MADE THE PROBLEM LESS LIKELY, HOWEVER THE PROBLEM STILL ON OCCASION OCCURS. I'M VERY AFRAID THAT ONE DAY I'M GOING TO NEED MY AIR BAG AND IT'S NOT GOING TO DEPLOY. IT APPEARS, FROM COMPLAINTS ON AN CORVETTE OWNERS FORUM, TO BE A VERY COMMON ISSUE WITH THE C6 CORVETTE AND THE MANUFACTURER DOESN'T SEEM TO BE ADDRESSING IT. *TR
THE SHIFT INTERLOCK FAILS HAS FAIL 3 TIMES SINCE I OWNED THE CAR. THE SELONOIDE THAT TELLS THE SHIFTER THAT THE BRAKE IS PRESSED LOCKS UP. (CANT SHIFT OUT OF PARK) THE DRIVER CANT PUT THE CAR IN ANY GEAR. GM FIXED IT BY REPLACING THE WHOLE SHIFTER AND NOT UPGRADING THE FAILED PART. THEY JUST PUT ANOTHER BAD SHIFTER IN ITS PLACE. I HAD ONE TIME WHERE I COULD NOT PUT THE CAR IN PARK, THIS THE ENGINE WOULD NOT SHUT OFF. I HAD TO FORCE THE SHIFTER FORWARD ALMOST TO BREAKING POINT TO SHUT THE ENGINE.
IT IS STOCK AND NO TUNE VERIFIED BY ( RELIABLE CHEVROLET IN SPRINGFIELD MO. AND SHOW-ME SPEED IN NIXA MO.) AT 49562 MILE IT DROP THE #6 EXHAUST VALVE WHICH IN TURN DESTROYED THE MOTOR I HAVE HAD THIS CAR TO 3 DIFFERENT SHOPS AND THEY ARE ALL SAYING THE SAME THING EXCESSIVE WEAR ON ALL THE EXHAUST VALVE GUIDES 2 OF THE SHOPS DETERMINED THIS WEAR CAUSED THE EXHAUST VALVE TO BREAK OTHER SHOP COULDN'T SAY. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH OVER A BUMP, A LOUD NOISE SNAPPING AND WIND NOISE EMITTED OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE DUE TO THE LOOSE FIT OF THE ROOF PANEL. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 09V491000 (STRUCTURE). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET CORVETTE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS AN EXTREMELY STRONG ODOR OF GASOLINE FUEL INSIDE AND OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO LOCATE A FUEL LEAK. THE FAILURE WAS A CONSTANT OCCURRENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR INSPECTION WHERE THEY INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT MALFUNCTION WAS CONTRIBUTED TO THE FUEL TANK FILLER NECK. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 42,500.
THE HEAD ISSUE VALVE GUIDE ON THE HEADS WAS COMPLETELY OUT OF SPEC....HAVE REPAIRED CAR TWICE BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE '.
OWNER OF 2007 CORVETTE COUPE. VEHICLE HEADLIGHTS WENT COMPLETELY OUT WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY.THE NEXT DAY HEADLIGHTS WORKED UNTIL THE CAR WAS WARMED UP THEN FAILED AGAIN. AFTER REVIEWING ONLINE CORVETTE FORUM THERE WERE MANY MANY COMPLAINTS OF THE PROBLEM WHICH IS ATTRIBUTED TO THE FAULTY WIRING INSIDE THE FUSE BOX UNDER THE HOOD. HAD TO REPLACE THE FUSE BOX AT A COST OF $400. BUT THIS ISSUE WILL LIKELY RE OCCUR BECAUSE THE NEW FUSE BOX WILL DEVELOP THE SAME PROBLEM OVER TIME SINCE IT HAS NOT BEEN REDESIGNED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET CORVETTE. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE REMOVABLE ROOF MADE A SNAPPING AND CRACKING NOISE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 09V491000 (STRUCTURE: BODY: ROOF AND PILLARS). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 61,000.
DRIVING AT NIGHT, 45 MPH ON SMOOTH PAVEMENT. LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS WENT OUT, HIGH BEAM REMAINED FUNCTIONAL. SINCE THAT TIME WHENEVER DRIVEN LOW BEAMS WORK UNTIL ENGINE COMPARTMENT WARMS UP AND DO NOT WORK AGAIN UNTIL ENGINE COMPARTMENT COOLS DOWN. *TR
LOW BEAMS WENT OFF. AFTER MULTIPLE VISITS TO DEALER, IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE BCM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AT A COST A SEVERAL HUNDRED DOLLARS. *TR
I WAS DRIVING AT NIGHT ALL THE SUDDEN MY LOW BEAMS STOPPED WORKING AT FREEWAY. THE LIGHTS WENT OFF WITHOUT ANY WARNING SIGN OR ANY ERROR!!!! I TRIED TO PULL OVER BUT SINCE I DID NOT HAVE LIGHT I COULD NOT NAVIGATE MY WAY THEREFORE I HIT A FLAT TIRE WHICH IT WAS ON THE SIDE OF FREEWAY!!I TOOK THE CAR TO DEALER AND MECHANIC IDENTIFIED THE ISSUE FROM FAULTY WIRING MATERIAL FROM FUSE BOX." FUSE BOX IS TO CLOSE TO ENGINE AND THAT CAUSE COPPER WIRES INSIDE THE FUSE BOX TO GET DISCONNECTED FROM PANEL OF FUSES. THIS IS A REALLY HUGE ISSUE WITH THIS CAR AND I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO HAS THIS ISSUE. MOST OF CORVETTES WITH HIGH MILEAGE ARE HAVING THIS ISSUE. *TR
I WAS DRIVING HOME AT NIGHT AND MY HEADLIGHTS AUTOMATICALLY JUST TURNED OFF AND WOULDN'T COME BACK ON...I NEEDED TO TURN ON MY HIGH BEAMS IN ORDER TO MAKE IT HOME SAFE...AFTER GETTING HOME AND LETTING THE CAR SIT FOR AN HOUR THEY CAME BACK ON..I READ SOME CORVETTE FORUMS ONLINE AND SAW MANY PEOPLE HAD THE SAME ISSUES..I GUESS WHEN THE CAR GETS HOT THERE'S A ISSUE WITH THE CORVETTE FUSE BOX MAKING THE LIGHTS JUST TURN OFF. THAT IS RIDICULOUS!! STUPIDEST SYSTEM IN THE PLANET...PLEASE, PLEASE TALK TO CHEVY ABOUT THIS ISSUE...IMAGINE HOW MANY CORVETTES THEY SELL AND THE POTENTIAL HAZARD THIS COULD CAUSE ON THE ROAD...NOW I HAVE TO GO TO CHEVY AND SPEND $800 TO GET THIS FIXED CAN U BELIEVE THAT! FOR SOMETHING THAT SHOULD NEVER EVER OCCUR. *JS
JULY 03, 2012 9PM - LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS FAILED TO TURN ON EITHER AUTOMATICALLY OR MANUALLY BY SWITCH. FOR NEXT SEVERAL DAYS/NIGHTS THE LOW BEAMS WOULD INTERMITTENTLY TURN ON WHEN THE CAR WAS COLD AND TURN OFF AFTER THE CAR WAS WARM. SEARCHING THE INTERNET IDENTIFIED THE UNDERHOOD FUSE BLOCK AS THE MOST LIKELY CAUSE, MANY CORVETTE OWNERS HAD EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE LOW BEAMS AND ISOLATED THEIR PROBLEM TO THIS FUSE BLOCK. I REPLACED MY FUSE BLOCK JULY 15 AND THE PROBLEM WAS FIXED. I DISASSEMBLED THE REMOVED FUSE BLOCK WITH THE INTENT OF REPAIRING IT SO I WOULD HAVE A SPARE FUSE BLOCK IF THE NEW FUSE BLOCK FAILED. AFTER EVALUATING THE DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF THE FUSE BLOCK I CONCLUDED THAT THE FUSE BLOCK WILL HAVE POOR LONG TERM RELIABILITY. I COULD REPAIR THE PROBLEM THAT CAUSED THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT FAILURE BUT ANY AND EVERY OTHER CIRCUIT IN THE FUSE BLOCK IS VULNERABLE TO THE SAME FAILURE CAUSE. EVERY COMPONENT/SYSTEM THAT RECEIVES POWER THRU THIS FUSE BLOCK IS VULNERABLE TO EVENTUALLY EXPERIENCING INTERMITTENT POWER PROBLEMS.
EVERY TIME I DRIVE MY CAR THERE'S A MESSAGE ON THE DIC THAT TELLS ME TO SERVICE ACTIVE HANDLING SYSTEM. THIS LIGHT COMES ON WHENEVER IT WANTS TO. I HAVE DONE SOME RESEARCH AND IT LOOKS LIKE THERE ARE MULTIPLE CORVETTES WITH THIS PROBLEM. *JS
WHILE PULLING/TURNING INTO TRAFFIC ON A BUSY STREET.. MY CAR'S TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM MALFUNCTIONED, AND I WAS UNABLE TO ACCELERATE, THUS ALMOST CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. SINCE THE INCIDENT.. I HAVE HAD SINCE THE FIRST OCCASION APPROXIMATELY ONE YEAR AGO, THE LIGHTS WOULD SHUT OF OR NOT TURN ON AT ALL WHEN THE CAR WOULD WARM UP. ONCE THE CAR COOLS THE LIGHTS WILL TURN ON, OR THE LIGHTS WILL SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING WHEN THE CAR REACHES A WARMER TEMPERATURE. *TR
THE RIGHT FRONT OEM WHEEL ON THE VEHICLE HAD SEVERAL SPOKES THAT WERE BUSTED COMPLETELY IN HALF. THERE WAS NO ABUSE TO THE WHEEL, NO IMPACT OR CURB RASH OF ANY KIND. THE VEHICLE HAS NEVER BEEN RACED OR OPERATED ON ANY KIND OF TRACK ENVIRONMENT. THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL REPORTS OF THE SAME FAILURE ON THE WWW.CORVETTEFORM DISCUSSION BOARDS. GM HAS IGNORED THE PROBLEM AND DENIED ANY TYPE OF COMPENSATION OR OWNERSHIP OF THE PROBLEM. I HAVE SINCE REPLACED THE WHEEL WITH ANOTHER OEM WHEEL. THIS TYPE OF CATASTROPHIC FAILURE COULD RESULT IN A LIFE AND DEATH SITUATION. *JS

THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL CAMPAIGN. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 21,500.

NO BOLTS ON THE REAR LEAF SPRING. THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED A MAJOR ACCIDENT. I HAVE PICTURES.. THE CAR LEAF SPRING DISLODGED AN INCH AND LOCKED UP THE LEFT SIDE SUSPENSION CAUSING THE CAR TO BOUCE ON BUMPS IN THE ROAD. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE FUEL TANK WAS REPLACED DUE TO A LEAK AT THE FILLER NECK. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 46,000 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 42,000.
2007 CORVETTE LIGHTS WILL STOP WORKING WITHOUT WARNING. THIS HAS HAPPENED MORE THAN 10 TIMES. ALL THE TIMES EXCEPT ONE WERE ON FAMILIAR ROADS WHERE I COULD STOP. ONCE WAS AS CLOSE TO A DISASTER AS POSSIBLE. SOMEONE WILL BE KILLED IF THIS GM ISSUE IS NOT RESOLVED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET CORVETTE WITH OE CONCEPT ALUMINUM WHEELS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER PUT STEEL IN THE WHEELS, WHICH CAUSED THE TIRES TO BECOME OUT OF BALANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO ADVISED THAT BECAUSE TWO UNLIKE METALS WERE PLACED TOGETHER, THE TIRES WOULD CERTAINLY DISINTEGRATE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE EQUIPMENT WAS RETURNED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 32,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
THE LOW BEAMS RANDOMLY STOP WORKING, AFTER THE ENGINE HEATS UP TO OPERATING TEMPERATURE, AND ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. THE BEHAVIOR THEN REPEATS EVERY TIME THE CAR IS USED (NOT A ONE-TIME EVENT). I, AND OTHER OWNERS HAVE IDENTIFIED A COMMON CIRCUIT ISSUE IN THE HEADLAMP CONTROLS, WHICH IS ONLY FIXABLE BY REPLACING THE WHOLE BOARD. *TR

CAR TRACSION CONTROL KEEPS TURNING OFF AND GIVES ERROR MESSAGE "SERVICE ACTIVE HANDLING"
TRANSMISSION SOMETIMES STICKS IN PARK & WILL NOT COME OUT. THE SOLENOIDE STICKS & WILL NOT RELEASE.
DRIVING ALONG AND CAR STARTS SWERVING AND BRAKES SEEM TO APPLY, THEN I NOTICE SERVICE ABS, SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL AND SERVICE ACTIVE HANDLING IS ON. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FREQUENTLY FOR SEVERAL MONTHS AND NOW GETTING WORSE. HAVE TIGHTENED ALL CONNECTIONS BY INTERNALLY TIGHTENING THE POOR LOOSE CONNECTORS AND REROUTING THE WIRES TO THE SWPS TO GIVE MORE LENGTH. NOW LIGHTS ARE ON AND WILL NOT GO OUT, SHOWS NO CODES WITH A SCAN READER. THIS IS AN 07 AND I DO NOT SEE THAT AS A RECALL EVEN THOUGH IT IS THE SAME PROBLEMS AS THE 05 & 06. *TR
EXHAUST VALVE BROKE DUE TO VALVE GUIDES BEING OUT OF SPEC. ENGINE SEIZED. IMMEDIATE LOSS OF POWER STEERING AND BRAKES DUE TO SEIZED ENGINE.
MADE ONLINE CONCERN AND ISSUE WITH LOW BEAM LIGHTS GOING OFF IN 2011. RECALL NOTICE FROM GM; JANUARY 2015, STATES IT WILL INSTALL "JUMPER" WIRE. I ALREADY HAD THIS COMPLETED ON 10/13/2011 WHICH RESULTED AS A SHORT TERM FIX. STILL ENDED UP HAVING PROBLEMS AND EVENTUALLY (HOPING FOR THE RECALL TO TRANSPIRE SOONER) HAVE IT SET UP NOW WHERE I NEED TO POP THE HOOD AND INSTALL A 20 AMP FUSE IN ORDER FOR LIGHTS TO GO ON. "JUMPER" FORMAT IS NOT ADEQUATE JUST BE AWARE. CURRENTLY ONLY FOG LIGHTS FUNCTION WITHOUT HAVING TO PLUG IN THE 20 AMP FUSE. EVEN MY BRIGHT LIGHTS NEED THE FUSED PLUG IN UNDER THE HOOD. *TR

INVESTIGATION EA09-002 THERE WAS NO ACCIDENT. THE "SERVICE ACTIVE HANDLING SYSTEM" CAME ON. TOOK CAR TO RICHARD HIBBARD CHEVROLET (NOW OUT OF BUSINESS AS A CHEVROLET DEALER) IN CLAREMONT CALIFORNIA. THE DEALER INFORMED ME THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE ROTATION SENSOR (PART NO. 15231656, SENSOR 6.522) AND SAID THAT THE PART HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE SENSOR WAS REPLACED 05/11/2011 AT A COST OF $326.12. THERE HAS BEEN NO ADDITIONAL PROBLEMS. HOWEVER, THE SAME PROBLEM WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY REPAIR FOR EARLIER CARS. *TR

I NOTICED MY STEERING COLUMN WAS LOOSE. I PULLED THE LOWER COLUMN COVER OFF AND THE LEFT STEERING COLUMN TILT PIVOT PIN FELL ON THE FLOOR OF THE VEHICLE. I LOOKED AT THE OTHER SIDE OF THE COLUMN, AND THE RIGHT PIVOT PIN WAS HALFWAY OUT. I TAPPED THEM BACK INTO PLACE, AND THEY WENT BACK INTO PLACE EASILY.
