ON APRIL 30 2014, AROUND 11:00 AM THE CAR WAS TAKEN FOR SERVICE TO A CHEVROLET DEALER FOR A WHEEL ALIGNMENT,STEERING AND SUSPENSION SYSTEM INSPECTION AND AIR PRESSURE CONDITION CHECK, THE CHEVY CRUZE WAS AT THE SERVICE DEALER FOR APROX FOUR HOURS, WE THEN CAME HOME, AROUND 5:30 WE WENT TO A SHOPPING CENTER TO BUY SOMETHING AND ON THE WAY BACK HOME, APROX SIX BLOCKS FROM OUR HOME WE STOP ON A STOP SIGN ON A CURB/ANGLE STREET DIVIDER BY A SMALL CURB WITH TREES, WE THEN TRY TO PROCEED AND BARE RIGHT BUT THE CAR MADE SOME KIND OF A NOISE AND WENT LEFT GOING OVER SMALL CURB AND HITTING A TREE, WE WHERE GOING APROX 15 TO 20 MPH AT THE TIME OF IMPACT THE POLICE CAME AND MADE A REPORT, NO SUMMONS WHERE ISSUE BECAUSE THE POLICE OFFICER LOOK AT THE SCENE AND COMMENT THAT IT LOOKS LIKE THE CAR LOSS POWER/ CONTROL OF THE STEERING ,BRAKES AND COULD NOT BE CONTROL. THE CAR WAS A TOTAL LOSS SINCE IT WAS DAMAGES IN FRONT/ENGINE/AIR BAGS/ETC. WE KNOW FOR FACTS THAT THIS 2011 CHEVROLET CRUZE HAVE MANY RECALLS INCLUDING STEERING SHAFT SEPARATIONS/BRAKES/STEERING PROBLEMS.ETC. *TR
THE RECALL (GM RECALL # 12213) WAS PERFORMED ON APRIL 30, 2014. SINCE THIS DATE, THE BRAKES COME ON NO MATTER WHAT SPEED YOU'RE GOING. ALL OF THE BRAKE LIGHTS COME ON, EVEN WHEN FOOT IS ON THE ACCELERATOR AND THE CAR WILL SLOWLY START TO SLOW DOWN. IT ALSO CAUSES THE CRUISE CONTROL TO DISENGAGE AND THE CAR TO SLOW DOWN. SAFETY NOTICE #14417 COOLANT LEVELS LOW I HAVE TAKEN MY CRUZE IN TO THE DEALERSHIP ON THE FOLLOWING DATES: 8/14/2013, 4/30/2014, 5/6/2014, AND 11/7/2014. EACH TIME I WAS TOLD THE CAR WAS FINE. I AM ADDING A HALF A GALLON OF ANTI-FREEZE EVERY 2-3 WEEKS. THE SERVICE REPORT FROM 4/30/2014 SAYS THEY FOUND A FAULTY PUMP LEAKING OUT COOLANT AND IT WAS REPLACED. THEN WHY IS COOLANT STILL LEAKING? LAST, BUT CERTAINLY NOT LEAST, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, CODE PO240. THE DEALERSHIP KEEPS TELLING ME IT IS THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER AND IT IS NOT. THERE IS NO LOSS OF POWER AND NO ROTTING EGG SMELL. SO INSTEAD OF CHANGING PARTS UNDER WARRANTY THAT COME UP WITH THE CODE, THEY CHECKED 2 ITEMS FOR THE 4 TIME EACH (WHICH HAVE BEEN FIXED) AND THEY CHECKED THE PARTS I CHANGED MYSELF BUT THEY NEVER CHANGED THE O2 SENSORS WHICH ARE THE PROBABLE ISSUE. THEY RESET THE CODE TO SEE IF THE LIGHT CAME BACK ON. IT DID. WHEN I RETURNED 6 DAYS LATER, MY WARRANTY MILEAGE WAS PAST BY 677 MILES AND INSTEAD OF CALLING IT A CONTINUATION FROM THE PREVIOUS VISIT WHERE THE PROBLEM WAS DIAGNOSED, THEY STARTED A NEW WORK ORDER AND IMMEDIATELY WANTED TO CHANGE THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER. I HAD ON-STAR AT THE TIME. DIAGNOSTICS OF MARCH 2014 SHOWED NO ISSUES. AFTER THE WORK DONE IN APRIL 2014, THE DIAGNOSTIC CAME BACK WITH AN ISSUE WITH THE EXHAUST SYSTEM (CODE PO240). I HAVE HEARD WHAT PEOPLE HAVE SAID ABOUT THIS DEALERSHIP BUT I RARELY LISTEN TO GOSSIP. APPARENTLY, IT'S ALL TRUE. THEY JUST WANT TO FIX THE EXPENSIVE PARTS AND WILL MAKE THEM BREAK DOWN SO YOU BRING IT BACK. *TR
VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING AT SLOW SPEED COMING UP TO A LIGHT WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED, AND THERE WAS NO RESPONSE TO THE BRAKES RESULTING IN AN ACCIDENT WITH TWO OTHER CARS. THERE WAS DAMAGE DONE TO THE CAR IN FRONT DUE TO THE COLLISION. WE TOOK THE CAR IN FOR A ROUTINE MAINTENANCE AND FOUND THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE BRAKES. THEY REPLACED THE BRAKE PRESSURE SWITCH AND THAT HAS FIXED THE PROBLEM. WE NOTICED FROM THE VERY BEGINNING, THAT AT SLOW SPEEDS, IT REQUIRED WAY TOO MUCH PEDAL TO STOP THE CAR. THERE IS A THIRD PARTY INVOLVED IN THE WRECK WHO MAY SEEK BODY INJURY. *JS
AFTER THE SERVICE DATE OF APRIL 21, 2014, FOR A COOLANT LEAK. I WAS NOTIFIED BY A SERVICE ADVISER THAT THE ENGINE SERVICE LIGHT WAS ON WHICH WAS NOT ON PRIOR TO MY VISIT. THE ENGINE SERVICE INDICATOR LIGHT ON THE DASH IS STILL COMING ON AND OFF BASED UPON I WOULD GUESS A NUMBER OF STARTS AND STOPS. I INVESTIGATED WHAT I COULD AND FOUND THE GAS CAP WAS BROKEN, NOT LOCKING INTO PLACE. SO I PURCHASED A NEW CAP FROM THE DEALER AND REPLACED IT. I PURCHASED A CODE READER AND ERASER, BUT STILL HAVE THE ON/OFF INDICATOR LIGHT ON THE DASH. SO, I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT ON 11/20/2014 WITH THE DEALER TO CHECK THIS THIRD TIME COOLANT LEAK, CHANGE THE OIL AND THERE INSPECTION AS WELL AS THE ENGINE SERVICE LIGHT ON MY DASH. *TR
ON THIS DATE WE SCHEDULED A OIL CHANGE WITH A DEALER WHO HAS PERFORMED ALL MAINTENANCE, RECALLS AND REPAIRS SINCE THE PURCHASE OF OUR NEW CAR. WE WHERE NOTIFIED THAT THE CAR WAS READY FOR PICK UP THAT MORNING AS WE ARRIVED WE PAID OUR INVOICE, THE CONSULTANT MADE US AWARE THAT THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON (FIRST TIME SINCE NEW?) THIS CONSULTANT DID NOT DOCUMENT THIS ENGINE LIGHT TO OUR RECORDS. WELL, THE ENGINE LIGHT KEPT GOING OFF AND ON DURING THE NEXT 10K MILES (2 OIL CHANGE LATER, OUT OF WARRANTY, MY FAULT) I HAD THIS CHECK ENGINE LIGHT DIAGNOSED BY OUR DEALER AND THEY HAD THE CODES AND THEN FURTHER TRIED TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. THEY WANTED $800.00 TO INSTALL A NEW AIR INTAKE MANIFOLD AND THROTTLE BODY THEN CONTINUE TO TEST FOR MORE PROBLEMS WITH NO GUARANTEE OF REPAIR. I COULD NOT AFFORD THE REPAIR AND DECLINED THE FIX. THE OTHER PROBLEM SURROUNDING THIS CAR SINCE APRIL 21, 2014 WAS THAT THE FUEL GAUGE WOULD NOT SHOW FULL AFTER FILL UP AND WOULD MOVE UP AND DOWN THE SCALE ON THE GAUGE. THE AC WOULD COME ON AT STRANGE TIMES WHEN RUNNING THE HEATER? WELL ANY WAYS THAT WAS 7 HOURS AT THE DEALER AND MADE FOR A LONG DAY. I HAD TO RETURN TO PICK UP THE COVER THEY FORGOT TO INSTALL OVER THE SPARK PLUGS, AND COMPLAINED ABOUT THE LEATHER SETS BEING SOAKING WET WITH WATER AND THAT THE CAR HAS HAD THESE PROBLEMS SINCE APRIL 2014 UNDER WARRANTY, THE DEALER DID NOT WANT TO HELP US? I PURCHASED THIS CAR FROM THEM AND PURCHASED THE 35K OIL CHANGE EXTENDED WARRANTY AND BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY? THIS DEALER DID ALL ! THE MAINTENANCE, RECALLS AND REPAIRS. I'M GLAD WE DIDN'T GO OVER THE 1000 FOOT CLIFF AT YELLOWSTONE WHEN THE BRAKES DECIDED NOT TO WORK (WE LEARNED LATER OF THE BRAKE RECALL) THEY HAVE A EXCUSE FOR EVERY QUESTION YOU ASK, NO REPORTS ON THE ALL POINT INSPECTION ON OUR BRAKES AND TIRES, PASSWORD PROBLEM THEY SAY? I'M READY TO BUY A TRUCK ELSEWHERE NOW, POOR GM AN CHEVY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET CRUZE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE TRAVELING 55 MPH, THE PASSENGER AIR BAG OFF WARNING LAMP ILLUMINATED ALTHOUGH THE PASSENGER SEAT WAS OCCUPIED. THE FAILURE HAS OCCURRED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE WEIGHT SENSOR MAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, HOWEVER THE FAILURE HAS RECURRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 36,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 39,000. UPDATED 8/19/14*CN
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET CRUZE. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS BEING INSPECTED, A MECHANIC NOTICED A LEAK IN THE TRANSMISSION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION COOLER LINE FAILED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 44,000. UPDATED 08/11/2014*LJ THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. UPDATED 08/13/2014 *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET CRUISE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL BECAME HARD TO DEPRESS AND THE CONTACT HAD TO APPLIED FORCE IN ORDER TO BRING THE VEHICLE TO A COMPLETE STOP. THE VEHICLE RESUMED IT NORMAL ACCELERATION BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED MOMENTS LATER. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED THAT THE RECALL REPAIRS WERE ALREADY COMPLETED ON THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE MASTER CYLINDER AND BRAKE BOOSTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
THE STEERING IS "NOTCHY" AFTER DRIVING STRAIGHT FOR A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME. THIS REQUIRES ADDITIONAL EFFORT TO DO MINOR COURSE CORRECTIONS CAUSING OVER-STEER. THIS IS PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS ON SNOW AND ICE. I HAVE THE LETTER FROM GM #14232 DATED NOVEMBER 2014. I CALLED IMMEDIATELY AND WAS TOLD "THE PARTS ARE ON ORDER FOR YOU" IT IS NOW 01/31/2015 AND CONTACT WITH THE DEALER TODAY STATED " STILL WAITING FOR PARTS FROM GM." :( I HAVE A 55 MILE COMMUTE (ONE WAY) THAT TAKES ME ON NOT SO WELL MAINTAINED ROADS. THIS IS NOT A SATISFACTORY RESPONSE FROM MAJOR CORPORATE PLAYER. PLEASE HELP ALL OF US WHO HAVE THIS ISSUE. *TR
BACKING OUT OF DRIVE DOWN HILL BRAKES GOT REAL HARD, DID STOP AFTER PUSHING HARD. ALSO GOING DOWN HILL PUSHED BRAKE DIDN'T WANT TO STOP. WE ALREADY HAD THE MICRO SWITCH REPLACED IN FEB OF 2014.THIS HAPPENED AFTER THAT .THE DEALERSHIP WHEN WE TOOK IT IN SAID THAT WAS NOT COVERED. *TR
I PURCHASED THE 2011 CHEVY CRUZE WITH APPROX 55 K. WHEN I DROVE THE CAR AT THE LOT EVERYTHING SEEMED TO BE IN GOOD WORKING ORDER. THE NEXT DAY I KEPT HEARING A SURGE LIKE SOUND IN THE ENGINE AND WHEN THE ACCELERATOR WAS PUSHED THE CAR WOULD NOT GAIN ANY SPEED OR POWER. I CONTACTED THE DEALER AND EXPLAINED WHAT WAS GOING ON WITH THE CAR AND WAS TOLD THAT THIS WAS COMMON IN THE CHEVY CRUZES BECAUSE OF THE ENGINE SIZE AND THAT WHY THE CAR IS ABLE TO GET SUCH GREAT GAS MILEAGE. I COULD NOT STAND THE NOISE ANY LONGER MARCH 19, 2014 I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERS SERVICE DEPARTMENT WHERE CAR WAS PURCHASED. I INFORMED THEM OF THE ISSUES I WAS HAVING WITH THE SURGING SOUND AND THE LOSS OF SPEED & POWER. THE NEXT DAY INFORMED ME THEY COULD NOT HEAR ANY SURGING SOUND AND ONLY FOUND 1 PROBLEM LEAKING THERMOSTAT. I WAS REFERRED TO THE GM DEALER TO GET FIXED UNDER THE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY. IT HAS NOT EVEN BEEN A FULL YEAR SINCE I PURCHASED THIS CAR. ON APRIL 7TH 2014 I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY DURING RUSH HOUR AND ALL OF SUDDEN I HEAR A DINGING SOUND ALL THE ENGINE LIGHTS CAME ON, ALONG WITH THE HAZARDS LIGHTS AND THE CAR BEGAN TO LOSE POWER,THE CENTER PANEL KEPT READING TRANSMISSION HOT IDLE ENGINE. I HAD NOT HAD ANY OTHER PREVIOUS WARNINGS,ALL THE GAUGES APPEARED TO BE NORMAL WITH NO SIGN OF OVER HEATING. I CONTACTED THE CHEVY DEALER AND TOOK THE CAR DOWN RIGHT AWAY.EXPLAINED TO THEM WHAT HAPPENED AND THE ISSUES THE DIAGNOSES THAT WAS GIVEN FROM THE SERVICE DEPT WHERE CAR WAS PURCHASED. THE NEXT DAY THE CHEVY DEALER CONTACTED ME AND SAID THEY HAD REPLACE THE WATER PUMP. ALSO THE TRANSMISSION HAD BURNT OIL AND NEEDS TO BE FLUSHED AND IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY. THEY TOO COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING ELSE WRONG AS TO WHY TRANSMISSION IS RUNNING HOT,NOT EVEN WITH THE SURGING SOUND AND LOSE OF POWER. APRIL 11TH 2014 HAD THE SAME ISSUES AGAIN. *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET CRUZE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE TRAVELING 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE DECREASED IN ACCELERATION AND THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED BY A PRIVATE MECHANIC AND IT WAS ADVISED THAT THE VACUUM SWITCH NEEDED BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 42,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 47,000.
THE FRONT CHROME INTERIOR DOOR HANDLES ON MY 2011 CHEVY CRUZE THAT I PURCHASED IS PEELING OFF. THE EDGES OF THE CHROME ARE EXTREMELY SHARP. BOTH MY WIFE AND I HAVE CUT OUR FINGERS ON BOTH FRONT DOOR HANDLES WHILE EXITING THE VEHICLE. IT IS NO PAPER CUT EITHER. PRETTY DEEP AND PAINFUL. I ENDED UP PLACING TAPE AROUND THE HANDLES AS A QUICK FIX FROM BEING CUT. WHEN I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP, I WAS TOLD IT WOULD BE $150 FOR A NEW HANDLE AND THAT IT DID NOT INCLUDE INSTILLATION. AFTER READING NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ONLINE AND OBSERVING A COPY OF A LETTER FROM CHEVROLET ADMITTING THERE IS A DEFECT IN THE HANDLES, I WONDER WHY THERE HAS NOT BEEN A RECALL AS OF YET ON THIS ISSUE. *TR
I BOUGHT MY CRUZE IN NOVEMBER AT 11000 MILES . I HAD NO ISSUES WITH IT AT ALL UNTIL MARCH 21 AT 21000 MILES. I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY IT HAD BEEN A LONG TRIP AND MY CAR LIT UP SERVICE STABILITRAK AND SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL WARNING LIGHTS AND POWER STEERING. ALONG WITH MY DASH (SPEEDOMETER, ODOMETER GOING HAYWIRE) NO ENGINES PROBLEM JUST THAT LIGHT I CALLED THE DEALER WHO SAID THEY NEVER HEARD OF IT AND IT WAS PROBABLY A FLUTE. ABOUT A MONTH LATER IT HAPPENED AGAIN THEN ABOUT MAY IT WAS HAPPENING ONCE A WEEK NOT EVEN ON LONG DRIVES NO MORE ON MY MORNING COMMUTE TO WORK AND A COUPLE OF TIMES THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON NOT ALL THE TIME. ON JUNE 5 AT 22000 MILES MY CARS CONTROLS CAME ON THIS TIME THOUGH MY ABS LIGHT CAME ON ALONG WITH MY PARKING BREAK AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. THEN MY CAR IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DOWNTIME DALLAS ON THE HIGHWAY MY CAR JUST STOPS ACCELERATING AND SLOWLY CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP AND I BARELY MADE IT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD! IT WAS SO SCARY. I TURNED MY CAR OFF AND BACK ON ALL THE LIGHTS WERE OFF EXCEPT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT I WENT TO AUTOZONE AND THEY GAVE ME THE CODES IT WAS READING. ON MY WAY HOME IT DID THE SAME THING AND IT IS JUST THE SCARIEST THING. I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY DON'T KNOW WHY IT'S DOING IT AND WANT ME TO PAY OVER 600 JUST TO FIND OUT NOT TO EVEN FIX IT JUST TO SEE WHY! THIS IS THERE ISSUE NOT MINE I FEEL LIKE IMA CRASH EVERYTIME I DRIVE IT. I EVEN TOLD THEM DRIVING IT I FEEL LIKE MY LIFE IS IN DANGER AND THEY PRETTY MUCH SAID THAT'S MY ISSUE NOW WHEN I WAS SOLD THE CAR THE WARRANTY WAS OUT AND THEY DIDN'T OFFER ME A EXTENDED I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO! THIS NEEDS TO BE A RECALL I'VE READ ONLINE OF OTHERS REPORTING THIS AND THEY AGREE IT IS SOMETHING THAT COULD POTENTIALLY KILL SOMEONE. *TR
SINCE I FIRST PURCHASED MY 2011 CRUZE, I HAVE EXPERIENCED HESITATIONS IN THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION CHANGING BETWEEN SECOND AND THIRD GEAR (APPROXIMATELY BETWEEN 35-40 MPH). IN THE LAST MONTH, THE HESITATIONS HAPPEN EVERY TIME I START FROM A STATIONARY POSITION. SOME OF THE HESITATIONS ARE MORE PRONOUNCED (I.E., AN ACTUAL LURCHING OF THE VEHICLE). THERE HAVE ALSO BEEN OCCURRENCES OF THE CAR NOT RESPONDING PROPERLY TO PRESSING THE ACCELERATION PEDAL. I FOUND THIS VERY ALARMING, AS IT HAPPENED DURING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. *TR
DRIVING AND THE STABILITRAK NEEDS TO BE SERVICED COMES ON. NOTHING THE DASH CONTROLS WORKS CORRECTLY. THE SPEEDOMETER GOES FROM 0-THE SPEED YOUR ARE GOING AND BACK DOWN TO 0 EVERY THIRTY SECONDS. CRUISE WILL NOT WORK. RPM DOES THE SAME. WHEN DRIVING THERE IS A SLIGHT HESITATION IN SPEED EACH TIME. HAD TO STOP ON THE WAY HOME AND IT CONTINUED WHETHER I TURNED VEHICLE OFF OR NOT. WENT AWAY THE NEXT DAY. TOOK IT TO A CERTIFIED TECH HE RAN THE CODES AND NOTHING CAME BACK ON THE COMPUTER. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWO MORE TIMES WITH NO LUCK. PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO LOOK INTO IT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET CRUZE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE REVERSING, THE BRAKES FAILED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND THE BRAKES FAILED TO RESPOND. THE FAILURE OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 13V60000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.

I CAN SMELL A BURNING COOLANT TYPE SMELL INSIDE THE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE. IT DOES NOT HAPPEN ALL THE TIME. IT LEAVES A FILM ON THE WINDOWS. WHEN IT HAPPENS IT BURNS MY NOSE AND EYES. I HAVE TO ROLL DOWN THE WINDOWS TO GET FRESH AIR. I CONSIDER THIS A HEALTH ISSUE, INHALING THESE FUMES. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP THREE TIMES. ONCE THEY REPLACED A TRANSMISSION COOLANT CONNECTOR, THAT DIDN'T SOLVE THE PROBLEM, AND TWICE THEY SAID THEY COULDN'T FIND A PROBLEM. I SEE THAT THERE HAVE BEEN MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS. THIS HAPPENS IN ALL SITUATIONS, MOVING OR STANDING STILL. THE FOLLOWING I COPIED FROM A FORUM ONLINE. THIS PERSON HAD THE SAME PROBLEM: IN THE COURSE OF THAT REPAIR THE TECHS DETECTED AN EXTREME AMOUNT OF LUBRICANT ON THE INNER DASH BOX WHERE THE VENT DOORS AND CONTROLS ARE LOCATED. THE TECH REMOVED SOME OF IT AND HEATED IT UP AND IT SMELLED JUST LIKE DEXCOOL. THIS GREASE IS GLYCOL BASED HENCE THE SIMILARITY TO COOLANT WHEN HEATED. THE CONTINUOUS HEATING AND COOLING OF THE GREASE RESULTED IN A BREAKDOWN OF IT AND THE SMELL ONLY GOT WORSE. THE TECHS REMOVED ALL OF THE EXCESS GREASE AND REPLACED WITH ANOTHER LUBRICANT WHICH WAS A TYPE OF BRAKE LUBE GOOD TO 400F. THEY THEN ADDED A PEPPERMINT EXTRACT TO THE COOLANT FLUID TO ENSURE THAT IF THERE WAS A COOLANT LEAK OF ANY KIND THE ODOR WOULD BE IMMEDIATELY DISCERNABLE FROM ANY OTHER AUTOMOTIVE ODOR. I RAN THE HEAT AND DEFROST HEAVY WITH NO ISSUES TO REPORT. THIS FIX IS NOT EASY AS THE ENTIRE DASH NEEDS TO BE REMOVED, BUT A GOOD TECH CAN DO IT AND RESOLVE THIS ISSUE. I WAS RECENTLY DRIVING AND THIS HAPPENED, TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT I ENDED UP IN A DITCH AND HAD TO BE TOWED OUT. MY CHILDREN & I ALMOST DIDN'T MAKE IT HOME! WAS EXPERIENCING ISSUES WITH THE HEAT NOT HEATING UP THE CAR ON TUESDAY AND ON YESTERDAY, I WAS DRIVING NORTH ON THE 394 EXPRESSWAY AND RECEIVED AN ERROR MESSAGE ON MY DASHBOARD OF "A/C SHUT OFF DUE TO HIGH TEMPERATURES" SO I TURNED THE HEAT OFF AND THE GAUGE SLOWED MOVED BACK DOWN. HOWEVER, AFTER DRIVING A SHORT DISTANCE FURTHER THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE HAD MOVED ALL THE WAY TO THE "RED" LINE AND I RECEIVE THE ERROR MESSAGE TO "SHUT THE ENGINE DOWN" BECAUSE OF OVERHEATING. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED AND SLOWLY THE GAUGE MOVED BACK TO THE NORMAL POSITION. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP THAT WORKED ON MY CAR LESS THAN 3 WEEKS AGO AND THE SERVICE ADVISOR INFORMED ME THAT IT MAY BE ANOTHER GLITCH BUT HE WANTED TO ENSURE THAT ALL OF MY FLUIDS WERE FINE AND SINCE I WASN'T VERY FAR FROM THE DEALERSHIP TO BRING THE CAR IN (EVEN THOUGH THEIR SERVICE DEPT WAS CLOSING IN ABOUT 20 MINS). AFTER LOOKING AT THE CAR, THE SERVICE ADVISOR INFORMED THAT JUST ABOUT ALL OF THE COOLANT RAN OUT AND THERE WAS PROBABLY AN ISSUE WITH THE WATER PUMP. I WAS SHOCKED, BOTHERED & FRUSTRATED BECAUSE IT HAD BEEN LESS THAN A MONTH THAT I JUST HAD TO HAVE THIS CAR WORKED ON. FORTUNATELY, THE WATER PUMP DIDN'T COST ME ANYTHING DUE TO IT STILL BEING UNDER WARRANTY BUT THAT STILL DOESN'T CHANGE THE FACT THAT I'M A VERY DISSATISFIED CUSTOMER. *TR

THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS OF THIS SAME ISSUE ON THE CHEVY CRUZE FORUM & MANY HAVE HAD THIS HAPPEN WHILE DRIVING, CAUSING THE AUTO TO STOP OR SLOW TO 5 MILES PER HOUR. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD. WAS PARKED IN FRONT OF AN ESTABLISHMENT AND WAS UNABLE TO REMOVE IGNITION KEY OR MOVE THE GEAR SHIFT UP AND DOWN. I CONTACTED ONE OF CHEVY'S TOW SERVICES IN ORDER TO GET THE CAR TOWED BUT DUE TO THE CAR BEING IN THE GARAGE, THE TOW DRIVER SUGGESTED THAT HE TRY TO JUMP THE CAR TO AVOID HAVING TO PUSH THE CAR MANUALLY OUT OF THE GARAGE. THE CAR STARTED AND I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. AFTER 3 DAYS OF WORKING ON THE CAR, THE SERVICE MANAGER TOLD ME THAT THE JUMP MAY HAVE FRIED THE COMPUTER SO IT NEEDED TO RECONFIGURED WHICH COST ME OVER $1000 (DUE TO IT NOT BEING UNDER WARRANTY). I WAS ONLY MADE AWARE OF THE MANY RECALLS THAT CHEVY HAS HAD ON THE CRUZE DUE TO HAVING TO TAKE THE CAR INTO THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN (WATER PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED) AND TALKING TO ANOTHER CUSTOMER ABOUT MY DISTASTE & FRUSTRATION THAT I'VE BEEN EXPERIENCING WITH THIS CAR. TL- THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET CRUZ. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR SEAT BELT BUCKLE HOUSING FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY, AND IT COULD NOT BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE WAS 34,000. RK
ON 12/12/13 MY PROBLEMS WITH MY 2011 CHEVY CRUZE BEGAN. THE ENGINE BEGAN MAKING A HUMMING NOISE, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WOULD COME ON INTERMITTENTLY, IT BEGAN TO RANDOMLY LOSE POWER AND OVERHEAT. ON 12/20/13 3-WAY CHEVROLET REPLACED THE CAM PHASE AND WATER PUMP. ON 01/01/14, THE VEHICLE BEGAN MAKING THE SAME HUMMING NOISE BUT LOUDER AND HAD A CONSISTENT LOSS OF POWER. ON 01/08/14, 3-WAY REPLACED THE TURBO CHARGER. I PICKED UP THE VEHICLE ON 01/09/14 AND WITHIN 1 HOUR THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME BACK ON. I TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO 3-WAY ON 01/10/2014 AND DID NOT GET THE VEHICLE BACK UNTIL 02/20/2014. DURING THAT TIME, THE CYLINDER HEAD AND VALVES WERE REPLACED, PISTONS AND RINGS WERE REPLACED, INJECTORS AND COILS WERE SWAPPED FROM ANOTHER VEHICLE AND THE CAR STILL HAD MISFIRE. A GM ENGINEER WAS BROUGHT IN AND THE TURBO CHARGER WAS REPLACED AGAIN AND THE OIL FEED LINE WAS PLUGGED. ON 02/21/14, I NOTICED FLUID IN MY DRIVEWAY. THE CAR IS LEAKING SOMETHING AND THE POWER IS STILL NOT CONSISTENT. I CONTACTED 3-WAY LATE FRIDAY AND AM WAITING FOR A CALL BACK. I HAVE BE INCONVENIENCED BEYOND WORDS, THE VEHICLE IS UNSAFE AND I WANT GM TO PURCHASE THE CAR BACK. *TR
VEHICLE SHUTDOWN WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY, SEVERAL TIMES. THE CAR ELECTRIC TURNS OFF AND OR FLASHES, STABILTRAK LIGHTS COME ON AND FLASHES, CHECK ENGINE FLASHING, CAR COMPLETELY SHUTS DOWN, STEERING IS ELECTRONIC OR MOTOR POWERED AND IS HARD TO USE, TRANSMISSION JERKS BEFORE SHUTDOWN AND BREAKS DON'T WORK VERY WELL. RAN OVER CURB AND OFF THE ROAD TO AVOID COLLIDING WITH OTHER VEHICLES. PICTURE, IM DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY AT NIGHT DOING 65 OR SO, ALL POWER GOES OUT, ITS DARK, OTHER CARS CAN NOT SEE ME WELL, THEY ARE SWERVING AND IM SWERVING. THIS HAPPENED FIRST AROUND 20K AND HAS HAPPENED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS AFTER. NO CORRECTIONS OFFERED BY GM UNDER WARRANTY, COMPLAINTS WERE COMPLETELY IGNORED, UNTIL MURDOCK CHEVY IN MANHATTAN KS. THEY ARE CURRENTLY TRYING TO GET IT FIXED AND GAVE ME A LONER CAR, ALL OTHER SERVICING DEALERS REFUSED A LOANER CAR, AND TOLD ME ITS FIXED EACH TIME. CAR STILL HAS THE PROBLEMS LISTED AND NO SOLUTION IS GIVEN FROM GM OR CHEVY TO FIX THIS DEADLY SITUATION. ALSO DAMAGE TO THE CAR FROM AN ENGINE OVERHEAT OR DASHBOARD OVERHEAT AT THE SAME TIME DAMAGING ELECTRIC, WINDSHIELD, RADIO, GAUGES AND DASH COMPARTMENT LEVER. EXTREME HEAT, BURNING SMELL INSIDE. FLOORBOARD BY THE FEET MELTS CARPET AND BURNS FEET, ALL AT THE SAME TIME, ON DRIVES OF 30 MINUTES OR MORE. *TR
WHEN INSTALLING A CHILD BOOSTER SEAT IN THE REAR SEAT OF OUR 2011 CHEVY CRUZE THE BOOSTER SEAT COMPLETELY COVERS THE SAFETY BELT LATCH MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO LATCH THE BELT. THIS APPLIES TO BOTH THE RIGHT AND LEFT SIDES OF THE CAR. WHEN I CONTACTED THE DEALER THEY STATED THAT THIS WAS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH NO ALTERNATIVE TO CORRECT THE ISSUE. THE ONLY WAY TO LATCH THE SAFETY BELT IS TO FASTEN IT INTO THE INCORRECT LATCH. THIS IN MY OPINION CREATES A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
RADIO FLASHES ON AND OFF AN INSTRUMENT CLUSTER IS FLASHING WARNING LIGHT. ENGINE RUNS ROUGH SOMETIMES AND AC BLOWER MOTOR TURNED ON AND OFF SOMETIMES AND TURN SIGNAL INDICATOR CONTINUE FLASHING BUT DOES NOT MAKE IT USUAL BUT CLICKING AND THEN RESUMES CLICKING NOISE. *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET CRUZE. THE CONTACT STATED THE STABITRACT LIGHT ILLUMINATED, THE POWER STEERING FAILED AND THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THE THE BATTERY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE REPAIR WAS MADE BUT THE PROBLEM PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 79,672.
SUDDEN LOSS OF ENGINE POWER. THE FIRST OCCURRENCE HAPPENED EXITING A FAST MOVING EXPRESSWAY. THE ENGINE SUDDENLY STOPPED POWER AND THE CAR WAS REDUCED TO LESS THAN 5 MILES AN HOUR. THE CAR WAS PULLED TO THE SHOULDER AND TURNED OFF. EVENTUALLY AFTER RESTARTING THE CAR THE ENGINE WENT TO FULL POWER AND THE CAR REACHED ITS DESTINATION. THERE WAS SOME LUCK INVOLVED AS TRAFFIC WAS LIGHT. SINCE, THE LOSS OF POWER HAS HAPPENED FIVE MORE TIMES. AT LEAST ONE OCCURRENCE WAS VERY DANGEROUS - PULLING FROM A STOP SIGN ONTO A BUSY ROAD. I FEEL THAT THIS ISSUE MAKES THE CRUZE ONE OF THE MOST DANGEROUS CARS ON THE ROAD. THE ISSUE HAPPENS WITHOUT WARNING AND CAN HAPPEN AT 65 MILES AN HOUR OR FROM A STOP. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE DECELERATED WHILE DRIVING FROM 68 MPH TO 6 MPH WITHOUT WARNING. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED SHE WAS TRAVELING EAST BOUND ON THE PA TURNPIKE, WHEN SUDDENLY,THE VEHICLE WENT FROM 68 MPH TO 6 MPH WITH NO WARNING. WITH ALL THE TRAFFIC SHE WAS ABLE TO GET TO THE OUTER LANE AND OFF THE ROAD. A TOW TRUCK DRIVER WAS ABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE STARTED. THE NEXT DAY, THE DEALER REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY.
