THE PASSENGER AIRBAG SEAT SENSOR IS FAULTY AND DOESN'T TURN ON THE PASSENGER AIR BAG WHEN THERE IS AN OCCUPANT. THIS IS A VIOLATION OF FMVSS 208.
AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT ON - TOOK TO DEALERSHIP YESTERDAY AND THEY FOUND THE FOLLOWING "B0074 & B0081 SET. DIAGNOSED AND FOUND PASSENGER PRESENCE MODULE INTERNALLY FAILED". THEY TOLD ME IT'S A 800+ REPAIR. *TR
WINDOW DRIVER SIDE WORKING INTERMITTENTLY, PRESSED SWITCH TO LOWER WINDOW HEARD A POP AND DRIVERS SIDE HEADLIGHT WAS OUT WINDOW DID NOT GO DOWN WINDOW STILL WILL NOT GO DOWN AND THE DRIVER SIDE POWER MIRROR WILL NOT FUNCTION AS WELL DRIVERS SIDE HEADLIGHT HAS BEEN REPLACED 3 TIMES WITH IN 5 WEEKS WHEN YOU PRESS THE WINDOW DOWN BUTTON OR OPEN THE DOOR THE HEAD LIGHT WILL BLOW AND THE PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW IS WORKING INTERMITTENTLY AS WELL YOU HAVE TO OPEN THE DOOR TO PUT IT UP IF IT IS IN THE DOWN POSITION. *TR
ON OCTOBER 16, 2014, I WENT TO THE DEALER TO PICKUP MY VEHICLE STILL WITH NO ANSWERS TO WHY THE DASHBOARD MESSAGE IS READING: STABILITRAKING OFF, SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL, SERVICE STABILITRAKING AND ENGINE POWER IS REDUCED. THEN THE ENGINE SHUTS DOWN. AS I WAS PULLING OFF THE DEALERSHIP LOT, THE ENGINE LIGHT STARTING FLASHING RAPIDLY, VEHICLE BEGAN TO LOOSE POWER, IT WAS BACKFIRING AND SMELLED OF A FOUL ODOR. THE SALES MANAGER CAME OUTSIDE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE AND THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO LOOSE ENGINE POWER. BY THE TIME HE CAME BACK INSIDE TO SPEAK WITH US, HE STATED THAT HE COULD NO LONGER TURN THE VEHICLE ON. HE STATED THAT IT WOULD NOT TURNOVER AT ALL. I AM NOW AWAITING THE FINDINGS AND GRATEFUL TO GOD THAT PROBLEM HAPPENED AGAIN ON THE DEALER'S LOT AND NOT IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. *TR
ON TUESDAY, OCTOBER 14, 2014, I WAS LEAVING WORK HEADED TO MY PHYSICAL THERAPY APPOINTMENT. IT WAS A RAINY DAY. WHILE IN ROUTE, A MESSAGE APPEARED ON THE DASHBOARD: STABILITRAKING OFF. I PROCEEDED TO TURN RIGHT AND GET INTO THE LEFT TURNING LANE HEADING TO MY APPOINTMENT. ONCE, I GOT INTO THE TURNING LANE THE DASHBOARD MESSAGE WAS FLASHING: STABILITRAKING OFF, SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL, SERVICE STABILITRAKING AND ENGINE POWER IS REDUCED. THE VEHICLE SHUTS DOWN. I ATTEMPTED START THE VEHICLE AND IT MOVED A FEW INCHES THEN SHUTDOWN. ABOUT A FEW MINUTES LATER, I ATTEMPTED A SECOND TIME TO TURN IT ON. ONCE AGAIN, IT MOVED ABOUT A FEW MORE INCHES AND SHUTDOWN. WHEN I ATTEMPTED A THIRD TIME, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT TURN OVER. I CALLED ONSTAR FOR ASSISTANCE, THEY CONTACTED 911 BECAUSE I WAS A DANGEROUS INTERSECTION. THEY ALSO CONTACTED CHEVROLET ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE FOR TOWING. THE POLICE ARRIVED AND PUSHED MY VEHICLE OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD TO SAFETY UNTIL THE TOWING COMPANY ARRIVED. THE VEHICLE STILL WOULD NOT START. ABOUT 25 TO 30 MINUTES LATER MY HUSBAND ARRIVED AND STARTED THE VEHICLE WITH NOT PROBLEM, BUT THE SAME MESSAGES APPEARED. ON THURSDAY, OCTOBER 15, 2014, DEALER CONTACTED ME AND STATED THAT MY VEHICLE WAS READY FOR PICKUP AND COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM NOR READ THE GM CODES. THEY CLEARED ALL CODES AND RECOMMENDED THAT I TAKE IT TO A CHEVROLET DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSTIC. *TR
ON SEPTEMBER 25, 2014, I WAS HEADED HOME FROM WORK TRAVELING 45 MILES PER HOUR WHEN THE MESSAGE STABILITRAKING OFF APPEARED ON THE DASHBOARD. IT WAS A CLEAR AND SUNNY DAY. AS I CONTINUED TO DRIVE, MY VEHICLE BEGAN TO LOOSE POWER AND PROCEEDED TO SLOW DOWN AS I WAS IN ROUTE. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND DASHBOARD MESSAGE WAS FLASHING STABILITRAKING OFF, SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL, SERVICE STABILITRAKING, ENGINE POWER IS REDUCED THEN THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN AND WOULD NOT TURNOVER. IT WOULD NOT MAKE A SOUND. I CALLED ONSTAR SERVICE FOR TOWING. THEY DID A DIAGNOSTIC CHECK AT MY REQUEST AND THE FOLLOWING CODES WERE GIVEN: P0502, P0513, P0606 AND P0700. AFTER 45 MINUTES OF WAITING BESIDE THE ROAD, I ATTEMPTED TO START THE VEHICLE AGAIN AND IT CRANKED. HOWEVER, STILL FLASHING THE SAME MESSAGES ABOVE; IT WOULD NOT PICK SPEED. THE ENGINE LIGHT NEVER WENT OFF. I WAS ONLY ABLE TO TRAVEL ABOUT 25 MILES PER HOUR AND MADE IT HOME SAFELY. I HAD TO HAVE A TOWING COMPANY TOW IT FROM MY YARD TO THE DEALER. I PICKED IT UP TWO DAYS LATER FROM THE DEALER. THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEMS, COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG, CLEARED ALL CODES AND I PICKED UP MY VEHICLES AND WENT HOME WITH NO ANSWERS. *TR
SERVICE AIR BAG APPEARS EVERYTIME I START CAR. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND IT IS GOING TO COST OVER $700 TO GET IT FIXED. THEY TOLD ME THE PART WAS OVER $600. ALSO I HAD TO FIX IT BECAUSE IT WAS ILLEGAL TO LEAVE IT AS IT WAS. WHAT I NEED TO KNOW, IS THERE ANY RECALL NOTICE THAT COULD HELP ME? MY HUSBAND AND I ARE BOTH RETIRED AND ON A FIXED INCOME. HAVING PROBLEMS WITH MY DRIVER SIDE DOOR ELECTRIC WINDOW AND DOOR LOCKS NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY OR NOT AT ALL. I HAVE SOMEKNOWLEDGE OF ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS SO I STARTED TROUBLESHOOTING THE PROBLEM. AFTER 5 MINUTES I FOUND THE SOURCE OF THE PROBLEM TO BE COMPLETELY BROKEN WIRES THAT ARE PART OF THE WIRING HARNESS RIGHT BEFORE IT GOES THROUGH THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR AND PROTECTED BY A RUBBER BOOT/SLEEVE . ALMOST ALL WIRES THAT ARE PART OF THE WIRING HARNESS AT THIS LOCATION WERE EITHER BROKEN AS I MENTIONED OR THE INSULATION WAS SO BRIDLE AND CRACKED THAT THE COPPER WIRE STRANDS WERE EXPOSED. THIS IS IN A TIGHT SPOT AND WOULD BE HARD TO SPLICE. I TOOK A PICTURE TO SUPPORT WHAT I AM WRITING AND I'VE ATTACHED IT. I BELIEVE THIS IS AN ELECTRICAL FIRE HAZARD IF THE EXPOSED WIRES EVER COME IN CONTACT WITH CHASSIS GROUND.
THE DRIVER SIDE POWER WINDOW STOPPED FUNCTIONING. WAS UNABLE TO OPEN THE WINDOW WITH THE CONTROL. IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT IF THE DOOR WAS OPENED THE CONTROL FUNCTIONED. I TOOK THIS VEHICLE TO THE BLAISE ALEXANDER DEALERSHIP IN MUNCY, PA FOR REPAIRS. I WAS TOLD THAT THE WIRE THAT CONTROLLED THIS FUNCTION WAS "CRIMPED" AND NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. I WAS ALSO TOLD THAT THE OTHER WIRES (6 IN ALL) WERE GOING TO FAIL EVENTUALLY. AFTER SEARCHING THE WEB FOR LIKE PROBLEMS I DETERMINED THAT THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED INCIDENT. MY CONCERNS ARE IF THIS WIRING FAILS AND THE WINDOW DOESN'T OPEN OR THE POWER DOOR LOCK DOESN'T FUNCTION IN CASE OF AN ACCIDENT THE DRIVERS ABILITY TO ESCAPE THE VEHICLE WILL BE COMPROMISED. IF THE SHOULD OCCUR AND THERE IS A FIRE OR OTHER ISSUE IT COULD RESULT IN INJURY OR MORE. *TR
WENT TO GET GASOLINE PUT $40.00 IN TANK STARTED UP CAR THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE FUEL GAUGE SHOWED EMPTY (DID NOT MOVE) WENT DIRECTLY TO MY MECHANIC HE CHECKED IT OUT AND STATED IT WAS A FUEL SENSOR IN THE FUEL TANK.....COST FOR THIS IS AT LEAST $400.00 OR MORE TO FIX MY ENGINE LIGHT REMAINS ON AND I HAVE TO CHECK MY MILEAGE RIGHT NOW TO MAKE SURE I FILL UP WITH GAS SINCE THE GAGE NO LONGER WORKS I CAN NOT AFFORD THIS TO HAPPEN THIS CAR IS A 2009 I TAKE VERY GOOD CARE OF IT AND DID NOT EXPECT SUCH AN EXPENSE SO SOON!!!!! IS THERE ANY TYPE OF RECALL ON THIS PROBLEM ON THE 2009 CHEVROLET EQUINOX STILL PAYING ON THIS AND I AM NOT VERY HAPPY RIGHT NOW!!! DRIVER SIDE DOOR AND DRIVER SIDE WINDOW STOPPED OPERATING AT THE SAME TIME. MECHANIC ADVISED THE WIRING HARNESS INSIDE THE DOOR HAD BRITTLE WIRES AND THE DOOR HARNESS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. MECHANIC SHOWED ME THE PART; TWO BROKEN WIRES AND FOUR OTHER BADLY FRAYED. *TR
CAR HESITATED, SLOWED DOWN, THEN LOST POWER. THE WARNING LIGHTS WERE STABILITRACK OFF, TRACTION CONTROL OFF, REDUCED ENGINE POWER. CAR IS NOW WITH THE DEALERSHIP & WAS TOLD THAT THE THROTTLE BODY WILL HAVE TO BE ORDERED AS THIS IS A RARE OCCURRENCE BUT WHEN I LOOKED ON INTERNET, IT SEEMS THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT HAS BEEN REPORTED MANY TIMES. INCIDENT WAS SCARY DUE TO TRAVELING ON HIGHWAY AT 60 MPH AND FOR NO REASON CAR JUST BEGINS TO LOSE POWER. SO NOW I AM WAITING ON THROTTLE BODY TO BE REPLACED. THIS IS NOT A CHEAP FIX FOR THE VEHICLE. SAW ON INTERNET THAT THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS SPECIFIC PROBLEM BUT WHEN I TALKED WITH DEALERSHIP THEY STATE THAT THIS GM RECALL IS ONLY FOR V8 ENGINES NOT FOR THE V6 EQUINOX. GM KNOWS THERE IS A PROBLEM, THEY NEED TO STEP UP TO THE PLATE & COVER THE EQUINOX ALSO. *TR
I HAD PASSED OUT WHILE DRIVING TO WORK DUE TO LOW BLOOD SUGAR. THE FRONT OF MY VEHICLE CRASHED INTO A STRUCTURE AT APPROXIMATELY 55/60 MPH. NONE OF MY AIRBAGS EVER DEPLOYED. I WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL. *TR
UPON MAKING A LEFT TURN FROM HIGHWAY INTO PARKING LOT, APPROXIMATE SPEED 15-20MPH, THE STABILITRAK ILLUMINATED, THEN THE MESSAGE POWER HAS BEEN REDUCED, WHICH WAS WHAT WAS HAPPENING AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. GOT VEHICLE PARKED AND SHUT ENGINE OFF. LET VEHICLE REST FOR 30 MINUTES. STARTED VEHICLE, AFTER NORMAL DASHBOARD SEQUENCE, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT REMAINED ON, STABILITRAK LIGHT CAME ON BRIEFLY. WAS ABLE TO DRIVE VEHICLE WITH SOME REDUCED HANDLING, ENGINE LIGHT REMAINED ON. AFTER VEHICLE SAT FOR 2 DAYS, WENT BACK OUT TO TAKE TO DEALER, HOWEVER, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WENT OFF, NO STABILITRAK MESSAGE LIT UP. VEHICLE HAS PERFORMED WELL FOR PAST 2 WEEKS, WITH SOME MINOR HESITATIONS. *TR
WHEN TRYING TO TURN OFF THE CAR, THE KEY GETS STUCK IN THE AUXILIARY POSITION. CHEVY HAS MADE A BYPASS SWITCH UNDER THE STEERING WHEEL TO RELEASE THE KEY AS THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WHICH IS COMMON WITH THE COBALT, HHR & EQUINOX. IT IS DOCUMENTED ON THE CHEVY FORUM WEBSITE. I AM AT DEALERSHIP NOW TO GET THIS FIXED. *TR
AIR BAG PASSENGER LIGHT ALWAYS FLASHES "PASSENGER AIRBAG OFF" EVEN WHEN AN ADULT SITS ON THE PASSENGER SEAT. DEALER SAID THIS COMPUTER MODULE PROBLEM IS NOT COVERED UNDER RECENT RECALLS OR WARRANTY AND THAT CHARGE WILL BE ABOUT $1000.00. I THINK THAT THIS SHOULD BE COVERED BY GENERAL MOTORS. AIR BAG HAS NEVER DEPLOYED. *JS
THE THROTTLE BODY WENT BAD IN MY CAR FOR THE 2ND TIME IN 3 YEARS. I HAD THE THROTTLE BODY REPLACED IN JANUARY OF 2011, AFTER ONLY OWNING THE CAR A MONTH. IT NOW NEEDS REPLACED AGAIN TODAY IN JANUARY OF 2014. I PRESS THE GAS PEDDLE AND CAR DOESN'T GO ANYWHERE, THEN ALL OF THE SUDDEN IT WILL TAKE OFF AND RUNS AS IF THE ENGINE IS BEING PUSHED AND PULLED. IT ALSO STALLED OUT ON ME ONCE WHILE DRIVING IT. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD WHEN SITTING IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION TO MAKE A LEFT TURN AND THE CAR WILL NOT GO FORWARD. *TR
I WAS DRIVING AT A SPEED OF 40 MPH WHEN I SLOWED TO MAKE A RIGHT TURN. THE STABILITRAK NOTIFICATION STATED THAT IT WAS "OFF TRAK" AND TO SERVICE "TRACTION CONTROL" AND THAT "ENGINE SPEED IS REDUCED". I COULD DRIVE NO FASTER THAN 5 MPH. I PULLED OVER AND TURNED MY CAR OFF FOR A FEW MINUTES. WHEN I STARTED IT BACK UP THE SPEED WAS NORMAL AGAIN BUT THE ENGINE LIGHT REMAINED LIT AND SOLID. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME IN 2 YEARS THAT THIS PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE BRAND NEW CONCERNING THE FIRST INCIDENT ABOUT 18 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASE. I WAS TOLD THAT I HAD A BAD THROTTLE BODY. THE PART WAS SUPPOSEDLY REPLACED BUT I WAS NOT GIVEN THE BAD PART SO I AM NOT SURE THAT THE WORK WAS ACTUALLY DONE SINCE THERE WAS A DEBATE ABOUT WHO WAS GOING TO PAY FOR THE SERVICE. NOW, THE SAME PROBLEM IS HAPPENING AGAIN. *TR
I WAS PARKED IN MY GARAGE AND STARTED MY EQUINOX, AS A PUT MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE TO PUT IN REVERSE THE STABILITRAK LIGHT CAME ON A COUPLE OF MINUTES LATER THE PARKING BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON, NOT IT'S ON ALL THE TIME AND IT HAS A MESSAGE TO CHECK THE STABILITRAK AND BRAKE SYSTEM. I WENT ONLINE TO CHECK IF I COULD FIND A SOLUTION TO IT AND FOUND NUMEROUS CASES ON GM MODELS. THERE'S GOTTA BE A RECALL FOR THIS!! I DON'T WANT TO BE DRIVING AND MY BRAKES GO OUT ON ME, I HAVE A TODDLER IN THE CAR WITH ME ALL THE TIME!! HERE ARE A FEW OF THE FORUMS I FOUND WITH SIMILAR PROBLEMS. ON THANKSGIVING MORNING IN PREPARATION FOR A THREE HOUR DRIVE I BEGAN TO PUT AIR IN THE RIGHT REAR TIRE OF MY CHEVY EQUINOX BECAUSE THE PRESSURE SENSOR WAS SHOWING IT A FEW POUNDS LOWER THAN THE OTHER TIRES. WHEN I REMOVED THE FILL HOSE, THE ALUMINUM (CAST I THINK) VALVE STEM END BROKE OFF WITH THE VALVE MECHANISM ITSELF AND THE TIRE RAPIDLY DEFLATED. NO UNUSUAL FORCE WAS APPLIED TO THE VALVE WITH THE PORTABLE AIR PUMP I HAVE USED NUMEROUS TIMES ON THIS AND OTHER CAR TIRES. THERE WAS NO ACCIDENT BECAUSE THE VALVE FAILED WHILE THE CAR WAS IN MY DRIVEWAY (SOMETHING ELSE TO BE THANKFUL FOR THAT DAY!). I JUST READ WHERE A SIMILAR VEHICLE (FORD ESCAPE I BELIEVE) EXPERIENCED A VALVE STEM FAILURE THAT APPARENTLY CONTRIBUTED TO A ROLL OVER AND FATALITY. ALTHOUGH A RUBBER VALVE STEM CRACKED IN THE FORD CASE, THE RAPID DEFLATION WOULD BE THE SAME IN MY CASE HAD I BEEN DRIVING - AND THE POTENTIAL DRASTIC RESULTS COULD HAVE BEEN THE SAME. I HAD THE VALVE REPLACED FOR $156.00. ALTHOUGH I PREFERRED TO REPLACE IT WITH A RUBBER ONE, I WAS TOLD THE STATE OF RHODE ISLAND INSPECTION WOULD FAIL SINCE THE ABSENCE OF THE REMOTE SENSOR WOULD CAUSE A DASH-BOARD WARNING LIGHT. THE TECHNICIAN SAID THE VALVE CRACKED DUE TO CORROSION - IN A FOUR YEAR OLD CAR! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. AFTER PARKING AND ATTEMPTING TO REMOVE THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION SWITCH, A CLICKING SOUND EMITTED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ABNORMAL FUMES WERE ENTERING THE VEHICLE CABIN, WHICH WAS CAUSING THE DRIVER AND ANY PASSENGER TO BECOME DROWSY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR INSPECTION AND REPAIR WHERE THE EGR VALVE WAS REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
WATER HAS GOTTEN INTO THE DASH. AS THE WEATHER BECAME WARM - THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT WAS PERMEATED WITH MOLD AND MILDEW. THERE IS STILL A SLOSHING SOUND UNDER THE DASH. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE PASSENGER'S SIDE REAR TIRE HAD BECOME FLAT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE REAR TIRE VALVE STEMS AND MONITORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 41,779 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 43,1216. *TR
STABILITY TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON WITH OTHER WARNING LIGHTS (CAN'T REMEMBER SPECIFICALLY WHAT THEY SAID) AS I WAS DRIVING 40 MPH. CAR SLOWED DOWN TO ABOUT 20 AND WOULD NOT GO ANY FURTHER. FORTUNATELY I WAS ABLE TO GET IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND IT WAS REPAIRED. SINCE THEN, I'VE HAD NOTHING BUT TROUBLES. THE WARNING LIGHT FOR THE SAME WILL COME ON PERIODICALLY BUT ONLY AS I START THE CAR .. MAYBE 1X EVERY 3 MONTHS WITHOUT ANY OTHER PROBLEMS. THE ELECTRICAL IN THE CAR IS [XXX]. MY AUTOMATIC DRIVER SIDE WINDOW WILL NOT FUNCTION AT ALL. THE REAR WIPER NO LONGER WORKS. SOUND ON THE DRIVER SIDE NO LONGER WORKS. ELECTRIC DOOR LOCK NO LONGER WORKS ON DRIVER SIDE I HAVE TO MANUALLY LOCK THAT DOOR. I'VE HAD MY CAR BROKEN INTO BECAUSE IT APPEARED UNLOCKED. FORTUNATELY THE ALARM SYSTEM STILL WORKED. EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE THERE IS A STRONG SMELL OF BURNING ELECTRIC. THE SMELL IS OBVIOUS ON THE INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE AS WELL AS UNDER THE HOOD. NO OTHER REPAIRS WERE COMPLETED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 300.
WHILE DRIVING, THE CHROME CLAD WHEEL COVER THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO HAVE BEEN MACHINE PRESSED ON TO THE ALUMINUM 17 INCH RIM, SHOT OFF THE RIM TOWARDS INCOMING TRAFFIC. WE WERE GOING APPROXIMATELY 35 MILES PER HOUR. IT FLEW OFF AND ALMOST HIT A CAR PASSING US. TWO MONTHS LATER ANOTHER ONE CAME OFF, BUT I WAS ABLE TO RETRIEVE IT BEFORE WE WERE IN TRAFFIC. THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED DAMAGE TO ANOTHER VEHICLE OR PEDESTRIAN WALKING BESIDE THE CAR. I BOUGHT THIS EQUINOX IN TEXAS USED WITH 24,071 MILES ON IT. DROVE IT BACK TO OHIO WITH NO PROBLEMS WHAT'S SO EVER. THEN WITH 43,396 MILES, THE IGNITION WIRES STARTED TO FAIL. IRONICALLY I RECEIVED A NOTICE FROM GM THAT THEY WOULD PAY FOR THIS REPAIR HAD I HAD IT DONE AT A SHOP.BEING A GM AND UPS MECHANIC,NO ONE TOUCHES MY VEHICLES OR FAMILY'S BUT ME! NAPA HAD THE WIRES[$22.00} AN I INSTALLED THEM IN LESS THAN 20MINS.AROUND 52000 MILES I NOTICED A WHEEL BEARING SOUND OR FLAT SPOT IN TIRE SOUND FROM LEFT SIDE. I'M THING GM SHOULD HAVE SOLVED THIS ISSUE BY NOW,SO I WAS THINKING NEW TIRES AFTER VACATION. WHEN WE CAME HOME FROM MYRTLE BEACH THE SOUND INTENSIFIED TO WHERE I JACKED UP THE FRONT ON TO JACK STANDS,SET PARK BRAKE, STARTED ENGINE AN PUT IT IN GEAR. I PUT MY STETHOSCOPE ON FRONT BEARING AN FOUND THE LEFT FRT MAKING ALL KINDS OF NOISE BY THIS TIME.I CALLED AROUND AN FOUND A TIMKEN REPLACEMENT AT AUTOZONE FOR 259.99-3YR.WARRANTY AN AT SAME TIME REPLACED THE FRT PADS AN RESURFACED THE ROTORS. SO WITH ALL SAID, LEFT FRT BEARING AN PADS $302.79. THE BEARING REPLACEMENT MAKES THE CAR RIDE AN HANDLE LIKE NEW AGAIN. JAN OF 2014, (83,000 MILES) SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED, AND THROTTLE BODY CLEANED AT DEALER AFTER DIAGNOSTICS. MARCH 1, 2014 (85000 MILES) WHILE ON INTERSTATE 80 SAME WARNINGS CAME ON BUT I LOST ALL ENGINE POWER ALTHOUGH THE CAR WAS IN GEAR AND THE CAR RPMS WOULD GO UP WITH PRESSING THE GAS PETAL, AND SEMI ALMOST HIT ME FROM BEHIND. CAR WAS BROUGHT TO SHOULDER, STOPPED TURNED OFF AND RESET WITH RESTARTING THE ENGINE.. I LEFT THE INTERSTATE AND MADE A LEFT TURN, THE CAR SPUTTERED AND HESITATED, AND ONCOMING TRAFFIC ALMOST HIT ME. REDUCED ENGINE POWER WARNING THEN CAME ON ALONG WITH STABILTRAK AND TRACTION CONTROL OFF MESSAGES. ON THE WAY TO THE DEALER IT OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES. AND I HAD TO RESTART THE CAR AFTER TURNING IT OFF. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY HAD TO BE REPLACED. THEY HAD A 1 MONTH WAIT TIME FOR THE PART? WHEN I BROUGHT THE CAR IN JANUARY, THE CARS AHEAD AND BEHIND ME HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. A LADY AT THE SERVICE COUNTER ALSO HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. ON GOING ISSUE WITH TRACTION CONTROL/STABILITRAK SYSTEM. INTERMITTENTLY A WARNING WILL COME UP ON DASH STATING . . . TRACTION CONTROL OFF - SERVICE STABILITRAK. MOST TIMES, ONCE YOU SHUT THE ENGINE OFF AND THEN START IT BACK UP THE WARNING WILL GO AWAY. RECENTLY THE WARNING HAS REMAINED ON DASH AND NEITHER THE TRACTION CONTROL OR ANTI-LOCK BRAKES HAVE FUNCTIONED. TWO MONTHS AGO THE EGR VALVE WAS REPLACED. OVER A YEAR AGO THE WIRING HARNESS TO THE EGR VALVE WAS REPLACED. NOW THE STUPID THING IS ACTING UP AGAIN AND HEADED TO THE SHOP FOR ABOUT THE TWELFTH TIME FOR THIS ONE ISSUE. THIS HAS GOT TO BE ONE OF THE UNSAFEST AND SCARY VEHICLES I HAVE EVER DRIVEN. NEVER KNOW WHEN YOUR ANTI-LOCK BRAKES AND TRACTION CONTROL WILL STOP WORKING OR IF YOUR GOING TO LOOSE ENGINE POWER AT A CRITICAL TIME WHEN DRIVING. *TR
WE HAVE HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE KEY GETTING STUCK IN THE IGNITION FOR SOME TIME NOW. SOME TIMES IT TAKES SEVERAL MINUTES OF WORKING WITH IT BEFORE IT WILL COME OUT. I HAVE TAKEN IT BACK TO SUPERIOR CHEVROLET OF SILOAM SPRINGS TWO TIMES AND HAVE SPENT A TOTAL OF $720.72 AND IT'S STILL NOT FIXED. THEY TOLD ME THEY HAD SOMETHING ELSE TO TRY BUT IT WOULD COST AN ADDITIONAL $200 TO $300 DOLLARS AND IT STILL MIGHT NOT BE FIX. TWO MONTHS AFTER REPAIR OF VEHICLE, GRANDDAUGHTER REPORTED THAT CAR VEERED TO RIGHT AND SHE COULD NOT CONTROL THE CAR. SHE HIT A POLE AND THE CAR SUFFERED SEVERE DAMAGE AND NONE OF THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. SHE SUFFERED A CONCUSSION AND BRUISES. PICTURES OF INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR ARE AVAILABLE. *TR

PERIODICALLY WITH AN ADULT IN THE PASSENGER SEAT THE RIGHT AIRBAG "OFF" LIGHT WILL ILLUMINATE. THE PASSENGER CAN MOVE AND BOUNCE AROUND ON THE SEAT WITHOUT TURNING THE LIGHT TO "ON". THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN REPORTED TO THE DEALERSHIP ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS AND EACH TIME THEY HAVE FOUND NO PROBLEM. THE LAST TIME WAS MAY 25, 2012 AFTER I HAD TAKEN THE AUTO BY THE DEALERSHIP WHILE THE "OFF" LIGHT WAS ON AND THERE WAS AN ADULT IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. THE "OFF" LIGHT WAS CONFIRMED BY THE SERVICE MANAGER, BUT THE TECHNICIANS FOUND NO PROBLEM WITH THE SYSTEM. THE ONLY SUGGESTION RECEIVED WAS A *.PDF DOCUMENT FROM GM DESCRIBING WHAT TO DO WHEN THIS OCCURS AS FOLLOWS: 1. TURN VEHICLE OFF 2. REMOVE ANY ADDITIONAL MATERIAL FROM THE SEAT..... 3. PLACE THE SEATBACK IN THE FULLY UPRIGHT POSITION 4. HAVE THE PERSON SIT UPRIGHT IN THE SEAT, CENTERED ON THE SEAT CUSHION, WITH LEGS COMFORTABLY EXTENDED 5. RESTART THE VEHICLE AND HAVE THE PERSON REMAIN IN THIS POSITION FOR TWO OR THREE MINUTES AFTER THE ON INDICATOR IS LIT. NOT ONLY ARE THE PRECEDING INSTRUCTION ENORMOUS AND DIFFICULT TO PERFORM WHEN IN A NORMAL DRIVING SCENARIO, IT WOULD SEEM THAT THE NECESSITY OF PERFORMING THESE RESET OPERATIONS INDICATES A SYSTEM FAULT THAT NEEDS TO BE RESOLVED, PARTICULARLY IF THE AIR BAG IS INDEED OFF WHEN THE INDICATOR SAYS IT IS "OFF". ALSO, THE VERY FACT THAT GM HAS DEEMED IT NECESSARY TO ISSUE THESE INSTRUCTIONS INDICATE THAT THE PROBLEM IS KNOWN BY GM. THAT BEING THE CASE IT IS A SAFETY HAZARD THAT NEEDS TO BE FIXED. *TR

1.I WAS DRIVING THE CAR HOME FROM THE AIRPORT. AS I APPROACHED AN INTERSECTION WITH A STOP TRAFFIC SIGNAL, I PUT MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL, HOWEVER, THE CAR CONTINUED TO TRAVEL WITHOUT SLOWING DOWN. AS I ENTERED THE INTERSECTION I SWERVED SHARPLY TO THE RIGHT TO AVOID HITTING ANY VEHICLES, HOWEVER, I SIDESWIPED A VEHICLE ON MY LEFT AND FINALLY CAME TO A STOP WHEN I HIT A ROAD BARRIER ON THE RIGHT. 2. WHEN A WRECKER CAME TO HAUL MY CAR AWAY, THE BRAKES WORKED FOR HIM AS HE MANEUVERED IT TO THE BED OF HIS VEHICLE. THE WRECKER TOOK MY CAR TO MY HOME. WHEN HE PUT MY CAR ON THE GROUND. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE IT INTO MY GARAGE AND THE BRAKES WERE WORKING AT THAT TIME. 3. MY CAR IS PRESENTLY IN MY GARAGE AND I AM AWAITING THE INSURANCE APPRAISER PRIOR TO HAVING THE BRAKES INSPECTED AND MY CAR REPAIRED. *TR
