DRIVING HOME AND STEERING WHEEL AND VEHICLE STARTED SHAKING LIKE THE WHEELS WERE GOING TO FALL OFF. 11/08/23 PURCHASED NOV OR DEC OF 2022 FROM DAN CUMMINS-AS IS NO ONE MENTIONED THIS. HAD MY MECHANIC LOOK IT UP AND IT'S ACTUALLY CALLED A DEATH WOBBLE
Got into a front end collision, vehicle was totaled. Front airbags didn't deploy. Steering wheel and side airbags deployed about 5 minutes after the accident. My head hit the driver side window, cracking the whole window. Had a concussion from that.
My car is burning oil I only drive to work which is only 20 miles away I put oil in 2 days ago and it’s rattling and sounds like it’s knocking and is a quart low it says it’s at 54% till my next oil change also my oil cap has condensation under it. How can this be fixed? Also yesterday when I was leaving for work my radio totally went off blank screen for almost a minute, I live in the country and I don’t want to be stranded on the side of the road at 5:00 in the morning I love my car but, how can these 2 issues be fix? Is there anything you can do to fix this?
The exhaust manifold cracked and failed. The failed part was not retained by the Chevrolet dealer repair shop. A safety issue arose as exhaust gases entered the passenger compartment via the vehicle's air circulation system. The failure of the exhaust manifold was confirmed by the dealer and replaced at considerable cost (i.e., $2200). No other parties inspected the failed part. There was a check engine light illuminated on the dashboard. The dealer retrieved a P0411 diagnostic trouble code and believed that it was related to the exhaust manifold leak. The exhaust manifold leak first appeared on November 1, 2023.
The component for bulletin # N192268181 had failed. Releasing carbon monoxide into vehicle and left me with no warning to address the problem. My 02 sensors were sending my control module wrong readings . My car should be listed in this recall. I have been having problems with this since I purchased it and didn't know there was a silent recall for these parts. The only warnings I got was a bad headache everytime I drove my car .. after having it inspected I was told about the exhaust and o2 problems which I then looked online for a solution and fount the service recall announcement. Had I have known or any warning light would of popped up I would have been able to fix it before it got worst.. my vehicle has the same problems exactly down to the t that is in the recall and should be on the list for recall I'm sure there have been more complaints. Inhaling these fumes caused me and my passengers sickness and could be risk of fire from overheating but I was not alerted and did not know there was a problem until failure.
The contact owns a 2013 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated while driving 25 MPH, the vehicle started to shake violently before stalling. The contact was able to coast to the shoulder of the roadway, where the vehicle failed to restart. After a visual inspection of the oil dipstick, the contact discovered that the engine was extremely low on oil. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the engine failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 137,000.
On Wednesday 10/18/23, the "check engine" light on our 2013 Equinox came on. My husband had been noticing a rattling sound for a few days prior and planned to take the car in on the upcoming Saturday. On Thursday evening10/19/23, he was about to leave for his 2nd job when the car died as he prepared to back out of the driveway. He took my Pilot to work. On Friday 10/20/23, the Equinox was towed to our mechanic who, after running a diagnostic, recommended having it towed to a Chevy dealer and we did so. Hours later, the dealer's service manager called to say the key fob key has become detached in the transfer and they would have to order a new one before assessment could begin. A $350-estimate for that portion was begrudgingly agreed to with the understanding that auto workers are on strike and ... On Tuesday 10/24, the Chevy service manager called to say their department went ahead and used needle-nosed pliers to try to diagnose it w/o waiting. It was late determined that the system was "out of time" which I later learned meant that the timing belt was skipping or something asking other technical things. Bottom line: a new engine is the only fix at a cost of $12k for a car we've only had 8 years. It's KBB value is far, far less. We are now stuck with a worthless car and no way to fix it. Please advise.
My car is loosing oil, I have to keep putting oil in my car. I think this is affecting the performance of the Cadillac converter that makes the car lose power, make noise and overall make the car not run correctly.
As I was coming to a red light, I heard a pop from underneath the front. About 3/4 miles down the road, I started smelling rotten eggs and hearing a rubbing noise. At the next red light, with my foot on the brake, the noise went away but the smell got stronger. When the light changed, the noise came back louder so I safely pulled off the road and had it towed to a dealership. No warning lights came on to indicate a problem. The dealership would not look at it because of a dispute with my repair service. So it was towed to a mechanic that took a picture of the transfer case blow-out. He does not do this type of repair. So I had it towed to a 2nd dealership. This dealership visually confirmed the transfer case issue but indicated he would not let his mechanics work on it because "it is too rusted and the chassis is bent." So I have a 3rd dealership that says they will do the repair. I am currently waiting for their inspection report.
The contact owns a 2013 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated while driving 60 MPH, the temperature gauge indicated that the engine was overheating. The contact stated she was able to drive the vehicle to the shoulder of the road. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic. The vehicle was diagnosed with excessive oil consumption and a failed engine. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 78,000.
Issue started appx 2015-2017, loss of oil in between oil changes but would only happen every 6-9 months, took it to Chevy dealership for inspection because there was no oil anywhere. They did 2 free oil changes 3 months apart and said nothing wrong with vehicle, even when I explained it wasn't long enough. But miracously it stopped for about 3-4 years and started slowly again, had mechanic look at it and he didn't see oil anywhere but found that the Equinox has had piston ring issues about the same time I took to dealership. Now in 2023, I cannot drive my car any further than 30 miles without it starting to jerk all over because it is out of oil. I literally stalled on the highway a few times putting myself and my family in danger, I called the dealership and service dept. told me nothing they can do unless I pay for it because they checked it back in 2015-2017 so claim is closed. in the meantime, my family's safety is at risk, I take extreme care of my vehicle so I check my oil daily and if it starts to jerk, I know it's lost the oil again. I carry oil in my car for this reason, but there was a recall and now it won't be honored because it took so long to fully arise.
the vehicle will die while backing up or going forward. We have replace the intake cam position sensor and it is still giving the same code and not running correctly.
Engine running rough... sputters when started
Initially, 6 months or so after owning the vehicle, the PCV reported tech bulletin occurred for me, and my rear main seal blew, causing $2000+ in repairs. Then, the Engine stalled out on the coldest day of the year, got an engine replacement under warranty from my dealership, that replacement engine had 66k miles (rebuilt) and was only driven around 5,000 miles when the same issue happened. “Reduced engine power” “Service stabilitrak” this time it was in 98° heat leaving me and my dog stranded on the highway. I’ve had it diagnosed with a shop, and they have stated for the second time my vehicle has had timing issues, jumped time, I believe this is related to the timing issues and oil consumption issues that GM has already reported to be an issue with some of these models. I am now down the $3000 I’ve put into fixing this car and it’s various t leach bulletin reported issues, as well as out of a car now, due to warranty being expired, and still needing to make payments on this unsafe vehicle. Only have the engine replacement receipt on hand, but can gather new diagnostic as well as PCV valve repair receipt upon request.
My vehicle is burning through oil and has a rattle. I did have an accident on 10/04/23 but the problem started before then.
The contact owns a 2013 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated while driving 55 MPH, the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was not able to be restarted. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed and determined that the engine needed to be replaced due to excessive oil consumption. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 125,000.

Purchased car from dealer on 7/1, car seemed fine at dealer and then died. Took car to oil change place, discovered underneath frame completely rotted out. Called dealer, dealer unwilling to fix, replace or refund vehicle. Had car further inspected to find complete engine, transmission, frame, axle, steering, brake issues. There were no signs of anything wrong at the dealership.
Engine failure, rocker arms broke into my timing chain, oil Consumption to where I had to put oil in every week. Now my vehicle has been in the shop for almost 2 months. Never had warning signs other than low oil
The contact owns a 2013 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated while performing a routine check on the vehicle, the contact noticed that the oil lever was low, and the dip stick was dry. The contact added 2 quarts of oil and the following day the oil level was still low. The vehicle was not diagnosed. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was contacted. The failure mileage was 86,300.
My car engine blew do to an over oil consumption. There appears to have been a recall but I was never notified. My car is at a dealership and the cost is 11k for new engine do I have any recourse? Timing chain replaced june 2023 by libertyville chevrolet. Libertyville il No one mentioned this engine recall to me then either.
The contact owns a 2013 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle went into reduced engine power mode. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who informed the contact that the timing chain had caused the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to file a complaint. The failure mileage was approximately 143,000. The contact stated the engine went out and she had to take out a loan to repair the engine.
Rear control arm mounts have rusted out and are unrepairable. This should not happen to a 10 year old vehicle and seems to be a common issue with this chassis style and numerous models.
Abs electronic control panel not working all dash lights come on abs, track, power steering , seat belt dinging sound , rpm and mph gauge erratic . Part is unavailable . Car consumes excessive oil, transmission. ready to go. Car could stall and or slow and cause accident. Car was taken to dealership
The contact owns a 2013 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that the vehicle was consuming an excessive amount of engine oil. The contact stated that the engine was consuming 1-quart of oil per 500 miles driven. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or the dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 187,000.
Unknown, just driving and service air bag light came on. Has not been on before and have not been in any type of accident.
For the past 2 years i have had my vehicle in the shop for repairs that have been unnecessary. The car would display check engine light, to the car jerking, and not wanting to accelerate, to shutting completely off at times. I have had the transmission replaced 2 times. To as of today april 8th,2023 mechanic at carmax where i have been taking car for every issue since i purchased it from them. Now says it has a oil consumption issue. Which i have had to take the vehicle back to carmax many times for . And yet still the issue is not fixed. Now they want me to pay for a new long block engine. And say that there is no special coverage from chevy for this oil consumption issue now.
Car keeps burning oil and cabin smells like fumes. No engine light comes on to warn me when oil is low.
car is burning 1 quart of oil every 700 mils driven. At one point , the engine light came on & car almost stalled in traffic. Another car almost ran into me! Have spent at least $1000 ti fix but nothing helping!
Engine is using oil and having to put oil into the car in-between oil changes. Usually when I am having to add oil, the cars life shows 58% or when my spouse tells me there is a knocking sound coming from the engine when it is started up. Tried to contact a dealership about this and they don't want to help.
The contact owns a 2013 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that the vehicle was consuming an excessive amount of engine oil. The engine and TPMS warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated the failure was related to Special Coverage Adjustment: N192291100. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where an oil consumption test was completed. The mechanic informed the contact that the vehicle had failed the oil consumption test. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 60,374.

I am deaf and this have problem engine and oil keep leak and show road ice but outside warm. I try use collision road it not show light on nothing..
The contact owns a 2013 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where Technical Service Bulletin Numbers: TSB: N192287100 (Catalytic Converter and Oxygen Sensor Performance Degradation) and TSB: N192268180 (Tailpipe Emissions – Oxygen Sensor) were repaired; however, the failure recurred. The contact related the failure to Technical Service Bulletin Number: TSB: N192291100 (Excessive Engine Oil Consumption). The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 124,087.
Engine burns excess oil. While GM did do a special coverage adjustment, it expired in 2020. My car with only 84,000 miles is experiencing this behavior now. If its a known issue and they issued an adjustment, they should not have put an expiration date on it as not all cars will exhibit this during the period.
My engine seized due to excessive oil consumption. the car just had an oil change, there was no indicator there was an issue and the engine seized. It is currently sitting in my driveway- the extended warranty company is giving me a hard time when this is clearly an widely publicized issue with the 2013 Equinox. I need assistance in moving forward as I cannot be without a car or responsible for a new engine payment.
The contact owns a 2013 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle lost motive power. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed that the tensioner pulley bolt had detached, causing damage to the engine, and that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 140,000.
While driving, the car turned off and was unable to start back up. The engine blew after the timing belt jumped time. After talking to multiple people in our area, engine failure, excessive oil consumption, and problems with the timing belt are a huge problem with this year model that Chevrolet should do something to remedy. The repair is more expensive than the car is worth so I will now be car shopping.
Rear main seal and not available for inspection. Losing oil too fast and will make car stall when driving it and cause an accident also can ruin motor when driving it. Vehicle was inspected by auto mechanics and needs to be fixed but the 2013 year there was never a recall for this issue. There were no signs of symptoms at all. This started to happen back in December 2022.
At about 115,000 miles my carefully maintained one-owner vehicle began to occasionally shudder, and then finally stalled on a couple of occassions. I found out later (after the check-engine light was activated, apparently due to a failing catalytic converter) that the shuddering, and the ruined catalytic converter, were both due to excessive oil consumption--the result of a piston ring defect that I learned about years after a class-action settlement that I was never notified about. The dealer charged me $230 to diagnose these problems. My safety was at risk because of the engine stalling (this happened while driving on two separate occasions), and also because of exhaust/oil fumes seeping into the interior of the vehicle when switching the A/C to defrost mode. Failed catalytic converter and excessive oil consumption was confirmed by the dealer but GM/Chevrolet and dealership refuse to provide remedy. (See https://www.classaction.org/blog/new-class-action-claims-more-chevy-equinox-gmc-terrain-vehicles-plagued-by-oil-consumption-issue) (See also https://www.classaction.org/blog/lawsuit-says-2013-equinox-terrain-drivers-not-given-proper-notice-of-oil-consumption-deal-due-to-gm-mistake) Neither the dealership nor General Motors notified me of the settlement or Special Coverage Adjustments that would have required them to cover the repair costs, and although I have contacted GM Customer Care several times and spoken to various case managers, they have refused to acknowledge their failure to notify me about the problem, much less cover the needed repair costs. It is worth noting that GM notified me about previous recalls, they never informed me about the costly, dangerous problem that I now have to deal with on my own. The problem eventually resulted in a ruined front catalytic converter. The dealership estimates that repairs would cost more than $8000 (more than the vehicle's market value). Please help--I NEVER RECIEVED ANY NOTIFICATION FROM GM ABOUT DEFECTS!
The contact owns a 2013 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated while driving 60 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power and stalled without warning. The contact was able to restart the vehicle immediately and the vehicle started to operate normally. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and stated that the vehicle was not under recall. The failure mileage was 137,000.
The contact owned a 2013 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that while driving approximately 45 MPH down an inclined road, the front driver-side air bag was erroneously deployed causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle and crash down an embankment. During the crash, the driver sustained a concussion and left arm, neck, and rib injuries which required medical treatment. A police report was taken at the scene. The vehicle was destroyed and towed away to the insurance company. The local dealer and manufacturer were not yet notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 93,000.
Car feels like it is going to take off at a red light. Then it rumbles and cuts off at the light. I purchased car from US Auto Sales. DOWC paid PepBoys for multiple repairs for breaks rotors and the light that keeps coming on is service stabile track they got the light to cut off but the issue still persisted. They even changed all things dealing with the gas line. This car is still idling high at stop signs like it will take off on its own. And still cuts off at a red light. This is very unsafe and many drivers have almost run onto the back of me. I told US Auto Sales, DOWC, and PepBoys and they all put me back in the same vehicle after voicing my concerns about safety. Instead of putting me in a safer vehicle they ignored it. This has been happening since I purchased the vehicle in November 2022
The contact owns a 2013 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was initially taken to an independent mechanic who performed a diagnostic test that showed that either the catalytic converter or the O2 sensor might be defective. The contact was also informed by the mechanic that there might have been a recall on his vehicle for the defect. The contact took the vehicle to a dealer and was informed that there were no recalls on the vehicle. The manufacturer was also notified and provided the same information as the dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 136,000.
While driving in November of 2022 my truck started to make some really horrific noises. Got it into a shop who proceeded to tell me that my transfer case basically exploded. While trying to research my options for repair ( which this & extensive oil burning and consumption seem to be very common on this year, make, and , model) I learned through GM that my truck also has a branded title which wasn't disclosed to me at purchase from a dealership, because they said they didn't klnow. I don't know if this all ties into the branded title, but I feel like there needs to be a recall to address the faulty transfer case and the excessive oil consumption.
Excessive oil consumption/ motor issues
SINCE I HAVE HAD THIS VEHICLE AND MADE CAR PAYMENT ONE, I THOUGHT THIS WAS THE BEST VEHICLE FOR ME. THEN SHORTLY THERE AFTER CAME THE RECALLS/PROBLEMS (Catalytic Converter, Electrical System inside the vehicle, and last but not least, the Engine. I have to make sure I take the vehicle in 1000-1500 miles early than normal because of the oil is low and the vehicle. The vehicle starts to vibrate/shake in the steering wheel and making noise that I know that it is time for the Oil Change. This vehicle has been not at all what I thought it was. I have spoken to someone at GM, which was supposed to get back to me. Please call for more information. [XXX]. Really would like to resolve this. If this vehicle is not safe for My 3-year-old granddaughter that I have in the vehicle or myself that I have put my TRUST and money in. I would love to give you my vehicle and you can drive your love ones and yourself to Doctor and other places you need to go. INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
The contact owns a 2013 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that upon the depression of the brake pedal, the vehicle vibrated and sputtered with the "Engine Power Reduced" message displayed. The vehicle then failed to exceed 25 MPH after the failure. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the water pump, engine gasket, upper and lower control arms, and other unknown engine parts were replaced; however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 86,400.
My Equinox is consuming excessive amounts of oil and the oil light nor check engine lights come on. The truck starts to shake and skip while drive which can be very dangerous. I have owned the truck since 2016 and was not notified of the class action lawsuit to have it fixed.
UNKNOWN. This particular make & model has an oil consumption recall & a recall on the piston rings due to the oil consumption. I have owned the vehicle since 2019 & have had issues with it every since it was purchased. It was taken to the dealership for idling & a rear knocking consistent noise & they could not find the issue & they were even aware that had recalls but could not find an issue or even offer to fix the recall issue. Now, the past year it has been consuming oil & it has completely stop operating & smokes like crazy. The check engine light is not even on & the car is feeling like it is overheating as well. Still, there are no warning or check engine lights on. The car is not giving any codes on a diagnostic meter. Last year the check engine light came on & all fluids were changed & air intake & valves were replaced as well. I have received both recall letters after purchase but was unsuccessful at getting anyone to locate or search for the recall issue. Our safety was compromised as the car just completely stopped going in traffic & could have caused someone else to hit it due to it stalling. I am not certain at what component has failed but the complete system is inoperable. UNKNOWN cause.
