SUSPICION OF A FUEL LEAK WAS NOTICED BY OUR NOSES ABOUT A MONTH AGO. VISUALLY CONFIRMED 10-22-20 VIA VISUAL INSPECTION AFTER FUEL POOLS DEVELOPED AFTER VEHICLE USE AND PARKING IN GARAGE. APPEARS TO BE THE FUEL RETURN LINE, TOP LINE, NEAR THE LEFT REAR WHEEL IN THE AREA WHERE THERE IS HEAT SHIELDING ON THE LINES. I HAD THOUGHT THAT A FLEX FUEL VEHICLE WOULD HAVE HAD EXTREMELY CORROSION RESISTANT FUEL LINE MATERIAL. APPARENTLY NOT. A PERCEIVED VALUE AT TIME OF PURCHASE FROM THE NEW CAR DEALER DOESN'T EXIST. THERE IS A LOSS OF FUEL ECONOMY, AND AN INCREASED RISK TO THE VEHICLE AND GARAGE AND ATTACHED HOME. THERE IS ALSO THE OFFENSIVE FUMES. REDUCED VALUE OF THE AUTO AND REPAIR/REPLACEMENT EXPENSE THAT WILL BE SIGNIFICANT. LEAKING FUEL ALSO APPEARS TO HAVE ACCELERATED CORROSION OF OTHER MATERIALS IN THE AREA IT AFFECTS.
I HAD DROVE THE NIGHT BEFORE AND WAS SMELLING GAS BUT I THOUGHT IT WAS MY BACK PACK BLOWER GOT UP AND STARTED MY CAR THE NEXT DAY 15 20 MIN COME BACK OUT GAS POURING OUT BY THE DRIVER REAR TIRE LIKE A WATERFALL AND JUST GAS EVERYWHERE THOUGHT IT HAD BEEN RAINING SERIOUSLY JUST FILLED UP THE NIGHT BEFORE
GAS IS LEAKING ON LEFT HAND SIDE BY THE BACK WHEEL. THE CAR SMELLED OF GAS AND WAS IN A PARKED POSITION WHEN I NOTICED THE LEAK. UPON INSPECTION IT WAS DETERMINED THE LINE WAS CORRODED AND IT WAS LEAKING DIRECTLY FROM THE LINE.
BACK PASSENGER SIDE DOOR WILL NOT LATCH CLOSED. STAYS UNLATCHED WHILE STATIONARY OR IN MOTION. WHILE NOT LATCHING IT DOES NOT SEAL AGAINST RAIN OR FUMES. DOOR CAN OPEN WHILE IN MOTION OR WHILE STATIONARY THUS ALLOWING PASSENGERS OR CONTENTS TO FALL OUT OF CAR.
DURING A ROUTINE OIL CHANGE, MY MECHANIC NOTICED THAT THERE WAS RUSTING AND CORROSION ON MY FUEL LINE BY MY DRIVER-SIDE, REAR TIRE. THERE IS A LARGE AMOUNT OF BUILT UP CONDENSATION AROUND THE CORROSION AND HE SAID THAT IF IT IS NOT ALREADY LEAKING FUEL, IT WILL BE SOON. AFTER FURTHER RESEARCH I FOUND OUT THAT THIS IS A WIDESPREAD ISSUE AMONG COLBALTS AND HHRS. I'M CONCERNED ABOUT POTENTIAL FIRE WITH FUEL LEAKAGE HAPPENING AROUND MY CAR AND IN MY GARAGE.
WENT FOR NORMAL INSPECTION TODAY AND WAS TOLD FUEL LINE OVER RESAR WHEEL WELL HAS STARTED TO LEAK DUE TO RUSTING THROUGH.HAVE INSPECTION REPORT FROM MECHANIC IF NEEDED.
FUEL LINE LEAKING BY DRIVER SIDE REAR TIRE
MY 2010 CHEVY HHR IS LEAKING GAS AT A FAST PACE FROM THE FUEL LINE NEAR THE REAR WHEEL. I SMELLED A STRONG GAS ODOR AND AFTER PARKING I NOTICED PUDDLE AND DRIPPING NEW MY REAR WHEEL. IT WAS GAS. I TOOK IT TO A SERVICE SHOP AND THEY CONFIRMED THAT THE FUEL LINE WAS WORN AND BROKEN.
RECENTLY, WITHOUT WARNING, I LOOSE THE POWER STEERING AND THE SIGN "POWER STEERING " COMES ON. IT BECOMES VERY DIFFICULT TO MAKE A TURN. WHEN I STOP THE CAR AND RESTART IT, THE STEERING IS BACK TO NORMAL BUT AFTER A FEW SECONDS IT GOES OUT AGAIN. THAT HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR THE LAST 1 OR 2 WEEKS. I CALLED THE DEALER YESTERDAY AND TOLD THEM ABOUT IT AND ASKED IF THERE WAS A RECALL, THEY SAID THAT MY VIN NUMBER WAS NOT AFFECTED BY IT. I KNOW FROM RESEARCH THAT QUITE A FEW CARS HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AND THAT THERE WAS A RECALL. HOW DO THEY KNOW THAT MY VIN NUMBER IS NOT AFFECTED BY IT. CAN YOU PLEASE INVESTIGATE IT? THANK YOU!
BRAKES MAKING LOUD NOISE WHEN APPLYING BRAKES AT 40-60 MPH. WAS DRIVING.
DISCOVERED ACTIVE FUEL LINE LEAK NEAR REAR DRIVER SIDE WHEEL OF VEHICLE WHEN PARKING VEHICLE. LEAK WOULD BE MOST ACTIVE AFTER MOVING THE CAR AND SEEMED TO EVENTUALLY STOP WHILE CAR WAS PARKED. CONTACTED DEALERSHIP. DEALERSHIP CONFIRMED LEAK AND REPLACED PORTIONS OF FUEL AND EVAPORATOR LINES AT MY COST TO THE TUNE OF APPROXIMATELY $450 PARTS AND $450 LABOR. I MENTIONED THIS SHOULD BE SEEN AS A CONSUMER SAFETY ISSUE. THEY SAID THEY CHECKED RECALLS. A WEEK LATER I NOTED A SAFETY AGENCY PROBE IN TO 2008-2009 HHR AND 2008-2010 COBALT. THIS COULD POTENTIALLY EXPAND THE MODEL YEARS FOR HHR TO THE SAME MODEL YEARS AS THE COBALT. NOTE: IN THE VIN, ENTERED INCORRECT...THE ALPHANUMERIC BEFORE X SHOWS AS 8 BUT SHOULD APPEAR AS B.
OUR CHEVY HHR 2010 HAS BEEN DYING AND STALLING OUT ON US WHILE WE ARE DRIVING IT, THE ONLY TIME IT HAD POWER GOING TO IT WAS WHEN IT WAS BEING JUMPED. EVEN THEN SOON AS THE CABLES WERE UNHOOKED IT WOULD JERK THEN DIE RIGHT AWAY. IT SEEMED AS IF MOST OF THE LIGHTS INSIDE AND OUTSIDED OF THE TRUCK ONLY WOULD FLASH WHILE JUMPING IT, THEN NOTHING. IT WAS ALSO VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL, AND EVERYTHING BASICALLY SEEMS LIKE IT'S MALFUNCTIONING. THIS HAS BEEN ON AND OFF FOR A FEW WEEKS NOW BUT I DON'T KNOW HOW TO FIX IT, NOR CAN I EVEN START IT AT THIS POINT,BUT I DEFINITELY DON'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING IT THE WAY IT IS RIGHT NOW BEING THAT IT POWERS COMPLETELY OFF WHENEVER IT WANTS TO. IT WAS IN MOTION A FEW TIMES ON CITY STREETS, AND IN MOTION TURNING WHEN IT DIED FOR THIS LAST TIME. ITS NOW PARKED ON A STREET UNABLE TO DRIVE IT. *TR
THE AIR BAG SENSOR LIGHT COMES ON RANDOMLY . THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR ALMOST A YEAR NOW. I SAW TODAY ON THE NEWS THAT GM HAS RECALLED MANY VEHICLES FOR AIR BAG PROBLEMS HOWEVER, AFTER USING THIS SITE MY VEHICLE IS NOT SHOWING RECALLED. ANY SUGGESTIONS?
VEHICLE INTERMITTENTLY LOSES POWER STEERING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, FROM LOW TO HIGHWAY SPEEDS. MAKING THE VEHICLE VERY HARD TO STEER ESPECIALLY IN TURNS AND CORNERS, AND EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. THERE IS AN EXISTING RECALL (14V15300) FOR THIS EXACT ISSUE, BUT WHEN CALLING THE GM DEALERSHIP AND THE GM CUSTOMER SERVICE LINE I WAS TOLD THAT MY VEHICLES VIN WAS NOT AFFECTED BY THE RECALL. HOW, IF I AM HAVING THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM, IS IT NOT CONSIDERED A 'SAFETY ISSUE' FOR ME? BUT THEY WERE MORE THAN HAPPY TO SCHEDULE ME AN APPOINTMENT TO FIX THE 'KNOWN ISSUE', AT MY EXPENSE OF COURSE. MY VEHICLE ONLY HAS 61,000 MILES, SO THIS IS NOT A NORMAL 'WEAR AND TEAR' ISSUE. ESPECIALLY WHEN I FIND AN ARTICLE BY RUETERS IN WHICH THE VICE PRESIDENT OF GM'S GLOBAL VEHICLE SAFETY SAYS 'WITH THESE SAFETY RECALLS AND LIFETIME WARRANTIES, WE ARE GOING AFTER EVERY CAR THAT MIGHT HAVE THIS PROBLEM, AND WE ARE GOING TO MAKE IT RIGHT," SAID JEFF BOYER, VICE PRESIDENT OF GM GLOBAL VEHICLE SAFETY. "WE HAVE RECALLED SOME OF THESE VEHICLES BEFORE FOR THE SAME ISSUE AND OFFERED EXTENDED WARRANTIES ON OTHERS, BUT WE DID NOT DO ENOUGH." VERY FRUSTRATING THAT A VIN IS WHAT DETERMINES MINE AND MY FAMILY'S SAFETY! GM NEEDS TO STAND BEHIND ALL THEIR VEHICLES WITH THIS PROBLEM, NOT JUST A SELECT GROUP...
2010 CHEVY HHR LT WITH 76,500 MILES. SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER STEERING WHILE DRIVING. UPON DOING RESEARCH THIS IS A WELL KNOWN PROBLEM BY GM AND THEY REFUSE TO WARRANTY THE DEFECT OR PERFORM A RECALL. UNSAFE TO DRIVE WHEN POWER STEERING SUDDENLY QUITS ON HIGHWAY. WAS DRIVING APPROX. 60 MILES PER HOUR ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN LIGHT CAME ON DASH AND LOST POWER STEERING. STEERING TO A LOT OF EFFORT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET HHR. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE SERVICE AIR BAG INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. ALSO, THE WINDOWS DID NOT ROLL DOWN AND THE SPEAKERS DID NOT WORK. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CALLED, BUT DID NOT CALL BACK. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 98,000.
WHILE DRIVING MY 2010 CHEVY HHR, I HAD JUST EXITED THE HIGHWAY AND WAS ENTERING THE SPEEDWAY FUEL STATION, MY STEERING JUST SEEMED TO LOCKUP ON ME AND A DASH ALERT FLASHED "SERVICE ESC" THEN I SUDDENLY LOST ALL POWER! IN ORDER TO AVOID ANY MAJOR TRAGEDY LIKE COLLIDING WITH A GAS PUMP OR ANOTHER VEHICLE, I WAS ABLE TO RUN IT INTO THE CURB I FELT LIKE MY ARMS WERE NEARLY RIPPED FROM THE SOCKETS. AFTER HAVING IT TOWED TO MY HOME AND THE FOLLOWING DAY TOWED TO A MECHANIC. DISCOVERED THAT THE EXPERIENCE WAS NOT EXCLUSIVELY MINE, APPARENTLY SOME 444 OTHERS HAD AS WELL. I CHECKED FOR RECALL NOTICES WAS TOLD THAT THE RECALLS WERE CLOSED AND REPAIRS WERE DONE. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW BY WHOM, WHEN AND WHERE EXACTLY! IT OBVIOUSLY WAS NOT DONE PERMANENTLY NOR SATISFACTORILY AS I'M VERY SORE NOW, BUT COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED!
FOUND GAS DRIPPING UNDER CAR NEAR REAR DRIVERS SIDE WHEEL AREA. INSPECTION FOUND RUSTED GAS LINES NEAR EXHAUST PIPE AREA. RUST WAS MOST SEVERE WHERE FACTORY HEAT INSULATION WAS WRAPPED AROUND LINES NEAR EXHAUST AREA. INSULATION APPEARED TO HAVE LET DEBRIS COLLECT AROUND GAS LINES. INTERNET SEARCH FOUND SEVERAL OTHER HHR OWNERS WITH SIMILAR ISSUES.
ELECTRIC POWER STEERING QUITS WORKING AT TIMES MAKING STEERING DIFFICULT. WHEN THIS HAPPENS A CHIME SOUNDS AND A MESSAGE APPEARS ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THERE HAVE BEEN RECALLS ON OTHER MODELS AND MAYBE EVEN THIS MODEL BUT FOR SOME REASON IT DOES NOT REGISTER FOR MY VIN . I HAVE NOT BEEN INVOLVED IN A ACCIDENT.
SERVICE AIR BAGS COMES ON SOMETIMES SAYING I NEED TO GET IT SERVICED ONLY COMES ON WHEN CAR HAS JUST BEEN STARTED . SOMETIMES GOS OUT SOMETIMES DON'T THEN SENDS SERVICE CODE ON MAIN DISPLAY. ALSO RADIO SHORTS OUT CAUSE DRIVER TO BE DISTRACTED TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT HAPPEN CHANGING FROM CD TO FM TO AUXILIARY ON ITS OWN.
I SEE THAT THERE IS AN INVESTIGATION OF FUEL LINE LEAKS DUE TO RUSTED LINES FOR CHEVY HHR MODELS. I HAD TO HAVE THE FUEL LINE ON THIS VEHICLE REPLACED LAST YEAR BECAUSE OF A LEAK ALSO. SINCE 2010 IS NOT ONE OF THE MODEL YEARS LISTED IN THE REPORT, I CAN SEND BILLING DETAIL IF REQUESTED.
THE DOOR HANDLE IS MADE OF PLASTIC AND IT FAILS. THE PLASTIC CRACKS AND YOU CAN'T OPEN THE DOOR FROM THE INSIDE. MINE BROKE. WHAT IF SOMEONE GOT CAUGHT IN A FLASH FLOOD AND YOU LOSE POWER TO YOU WINDOW. YOU DIE. I THINK THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND GM ADDRESS THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE SSR. THEY REPLACE THE SSR HANDLES WITH METAL. THERE ARE 40,000 MEMBERS ON THE HHR FORUM AND A LOT MORE CARS ON ROAD. PLEASE ADDRESS THIS ISSUE. IT'S SCARY THAT ONE PULL ON YOU DOOR HANDLE AND YOU CAN'T GET OUT UNLESS YOU OPEN THE WINDOW OR CRAWL OUT THE OTHER SIDE.
FUEL LINE RUSTED OUT. THE CAR IS ONLY 9 YEARS OLD AND I GOT STUCK IN THE COUNTRY
PASSENGER INSIDE DOOR HANDLE IS MADE OF PLASTIC AND CRACKED. ONLY WAY TO GET OUT OF THE CAR IS TO OPEN WINDOW AND USE OUTSIDE DOOR HANDLE. IF THE WINDOW FAILS YOU NEED TO EXIT THE DRIVER SIDE. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED.
THE IGNITION IS LOCKING KEY IN. ALSO THIS IS CAUSING MY BATTERY TO DIE .
AIRBAG SYSTEM SERVICE IS ILLUMINATED ON THE DASHBOARD HOWEVER ALL THE SENSORS WERE REPLACED SEVERAL TIMES AS LONG AS IT SAYS SERVICE AIRBAGS THE SYSTEM IS NOT ACTIVE NOR WORKING SO A CRASH IS GUARANTEED TO KILL YOU AND THE SEATBELT RETRACTION SYSTEM IS ALSO AFFECTED IT EXTENDS FINE BUT IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH IT WILL NOT LOCK EVEN UNDER HARD BRAKING THIS SAME PROBLEM EXISISTS SO IF IT WONT LOCK YOU WILL FEEL THE STEERING WHEEL ON YOUR FACE AND CHEST I HAVE MADE A CHEVY DEALER AWARE OF THIS BUT THEY SAID DONT WORRY THE SYSTEM WILL WORK FINE IGNORE THE SERVICE AIRBAG WARNING VEHICLE IN MOTION ON CITY STREET OR HIGHWAY DRIVING THE VEHICLE DOES NOT MATTER SYSTEM HAS A FLAW IN IT AND GM WONT FIX IT
"ELECTRIC POWER STEERING ASSIST". MY VIN NUMBER IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY FOR THE SERVICE RECALL NUMBER 11415 ELECTRIC POWER STEERING ASSIST.THAT SHOULD BE SERVICED UNDER SAFETY RECALL 10023 PRIOR TO MAY 31,2010. I OWN A 2010 CHEVY HHR (NON-TURBO) AND THE POWER STEERING ASSIST HAS FAILED.
I WAS APPROACHING A RED LIGHT ON ALDI DR. AND ROUTE 48.WHEN I APPLIED MY BRAKES THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR RESULTING IN RUNNING THRU THE LIGHT STOPPING IN THE MIDDLE OF INTERSECTION OF ROUTE 48 AFTER USING EMERGENCY BRAKE TO GET STOPPED.IT WAS A MIRACLE THAT I DIDNT CAUSE AN ACCIDENT.I DO HAVE A PA. CERTIFIED INSPECTION MECHANICS LICENSE.I GOT OUT OF CAR AND SEEN BRAKE FLUID RUNNING OUT OF RIGHT FRONT WHEEL WITH 4 WAYS ON I BACKED CAR OFF OF ROUTE 48 INTO HOME DEPOT PARKING LOT AND CHECKED OUT WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS.I SEEN THE CALIBER BRAKE HOSE HANGING DOWN TOWARDS THE GROUND WITH FLUID RUNNING OUT.I CALLED FOR A TOW TRUCK TO TAKE ME HOME.WHEN GETTING AUTO HOME I JACKED RIGHT FRONT OF CAR UP AND PLACED JACK STAND UNDER CAR.THEN REMOVED R-FRONT WHEEL AND SEEN THE THAT THE METAL CLAMP HOLDING THE BRAKE HOSE TO THE CAR RUSTED AWAY ,IT WAS PAPER THIN RESULTING IN THE HOSE BLOWING OFF.WITH ABS AND A SINGLE MASTER CYLINDER IT WAS A COMPLETE BRAKE FAILURE! I CONTACTED GENERAL MOTORS AND THE WERE SORRY ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED .I HAVE CHANGED BOTH FRONT BRAKE HOSES.THE BOTH HOSES WHERE UNDER $40.00 DOLLARS.THIS IS THE WORST BRAKE FAILURE THAT I HAVE SEEN IN MY LIFETIME! I AM IN MY 60S.I FILL THAT THE PUBLIC NEEDS TO NO ABOUT THIS BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED OR HURT VERY BAD .I WAS GOING ABOUT 5 MILES AN HOUR WHEN THIS HAPPENED AND COULDNT STOP CAR.THE CHEVY COBALT AND HHR ARE ON THE SAME CHASSIS.I HAVE KEPT THE FAULTY BRAKE HOSE IF NEEDED IN THE FUTURE.I HOPE THAT THE PEOPLE THAT OWN THESE VEHICLES CAN BE NOTIFIED SOMEHOW. IT WILL BE NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE FOR THE MAJORITY OF PEOPLE TO STOP THESE VEHICLES WITHOUT BEING INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT . THE FUEL LINE RUSTED OFF THE CAR. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH GM VEHICLES DUE TO THE WRAP THAT GM WRAPPED AROUND THE FUEL LINES. PLEASE HELP ME FIND A RESOLUTION TO THE ISSUE THAT IS CAUSED BY THIS GM ISSUE.
GAS SMELL COMING FROM THE VEHICLE AND TROUBLE STARTING. IDENTIFIED A LEAK COMING FROM THE UNDERSIDE BACK OF THE CAR. GAS SMELL HAPPENS WHEN DRIVING, STRONG WHEN IDLING, STRONGEST JUST AFTER STOPPING. WENT TO RESEARCH THE PROBLEM ONLINE AND FOUND THAT THIS IS MORE THAN COMMON. IT'S AN EPIDEMIC.
KNOW PROBLEM ON CONNECTORS TO AIR BAGS GIVES 2 CODES B0019-0D AND B0010-04 STATES THAT THIS KNOW PROBLEM CAN STOP DEPLOYMENT OF AIR BAGS. UPON LOOKING PROBLEM UP THIS IS VERY COMMON ON THIS CAR AND THE MANUFACTURER KNOWS OF IT. THIS IS SAFETY AND SHOULD BE FIXED BY THEM BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET HHR. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH, THE POWER STEERING ABILITY SEIZED AND THE POWER STEERING WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF. AFTER FIVE MINUTES, THE VEHICLE RESTARTED NORMALLY AND THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE AND THEN TOWED TO RYDELL CHEVROLET (18600 DEVONSHIRE STREET, NORTHRIDGE, CA 91324) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER STEERING MOTOR FAILED AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 79,208. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET HHR. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING FAILED. ONCE THE CONTACT TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE, THE POWER STEERING RETURNED TO NORMAL. THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE DEALER (MICHAEL CHEVROLET, 5735 N BLACKSTONE AVE, FRESNO, CA 93710, (559) 431-6001) STATED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS FOR THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
KEY LOCKS IN THE IGNITION IN THE ON POSITION AND CAR CUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING
APPROXIMATELY TWO MINUTES AFTER LEAVING A CITY PARKING LOT DURING THE PROCESS OF MAKING A LEFT TURN ON A BUSY FOUR LANE ROAD A CHIME WAS HEARD AND THE DISPLAY READ POWER STEERING. AT THIS POINT THE POWER ASSIST WAS LOST AND THE CORNERING STEER EFFORT WAS VERY STRONG. I REDUCED SPEED CAUSING TRAFFIC DIFFICULTIES BUT WAS ABLE TO STEER BACK INTO THE LANE. DROVE SLOWLY DOWN STREET. PULLED OVER AND SHUT OF CAR. RESTARTED CAR AND POWER ASSIST RETURNED AND ALARM WAS CLEARED. CAR HAS 72,900 MILES ON IT. IT IS MY WIFE'S VEHICLE AND AS SHE WAS A PASSENGER DURING THIS INCIDENT SHE WILL NOT OPERATE IT NOW. HAVE DRIVEN IT FOR A WEEK WITH NO RE-OCCURRENCE. IF UNPREPARED THIS FAILURE COULD HAVE SERIOUS CONSEQUENCES.

ON APRIL 19,2018 WHILE DRIVING ON CITY STREET RT FRONT PASSENGER DOOR OPENED, NO INDICATOR LIGHT APPEARED ON DASH. BOTH RT FRONT AND BACK PASSENGER DOORS OPENED WITH IN FIVE DAYS APART WHILE DRIVING.I WAS INFORMED BY DEALERSHIP THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OLD. CAUSE: FAULTY LATCH SPRING LOADER A15 BODY & ELECTRICAL, 10470C LOCK, REPLACED RT FRONT PASSENGER DOOR LATCH ASSEMBLY. I PURCHASED IT IN 2011AND THE PRESENT MILEAGE IS 17,000MI. I FEEL IF THE HATCH DOOR OPENS WHILE ON THE FREEWAY AND MY WHEEL CHAIR ROLLS OUT A FATAL ACCIDENT WOULD OCCUR. I FEEL THE MATERIAL USED IN THE LATCH SPRING LOADER AND DOOR LATCH ASSEMBLY IS UNSAFE. PARTS SHOULD BE RECALLED AND REPLACED BY THE MANUFACTURER, AS WELL AS NOTIFYING OWNER.THANK U FOR YOUR HELP.
TAKATA RECALL 4/11/2018 PURCHASED CAR. DEALER DID A SAFTEY INSPECTION ON THIS USED HHR .IN MY DRIVE HOME ON EXPRESSWAY AIR BAG LITE CAME ON @ 59 MILES DRIVEN AFTER THE PURCHASE. I CHECKED AND NOW SEE THERE ARE TONS OF ISSUED COMPLAINTS ON THE LT HHR MODEL. PLEASE RESPOND
A FAINT NOISE WAS HEARD AND I PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER TO THE SIDE OF ROAD WALKED AROUND THE ENTIRE VEHICLE LOOKING TO SEE IF ANYTHING STOOD OUT, ASSESSED THE TIRES, ENGINE AND NOTHING APPEARED TO BE WRONG. I PROCEEDED TO GET ON THE RAMP ON AND AS I WENT THROUGH THE TOLL BOOTH DRIVING AROUND 40 MPH, THE CAR ACCELERATED TO A SPEED OF ABOUT 87 MPH, THE STEERING COULD NOT BE CONTROLLED IT WAS ALMOST AS IF IT WAS IN A LOCKED POSITION. ONCE THE VEHICLE TOOK OFF AT THE HIGH SPEED, IT THEN CAME ALMOST TO A COMPLETE STOP. THE SOUND OF THE ENGINE WAS REVVING BUT THE SPEED WAS NOT SUPPORTING THE SOUND. I PROCEEDED TO BRAKE, USE THE ACCELERATOR AND WAS GOING BACK AND FORTH BETWEEN THE TWO FUNCTIONS BUT NEITHER WOULD WORK. SCARED TO GO INTO THE FLOW OF HEAVY TRAFFIC, I PLACED THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL WHICH ALLOWED ME TO ROLL DOWN THE RAMP AND ONTO THE SHOULDER. I THEN TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND LET IT SIT AND ATTEMPTED TO TURN IT BACK ON TO REMOVE IT MORE OUT OF THE DRIVING LANE, BUT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE
THE FUEL LINE RUSTED OUT IN FRONT OF DRIVERS SIDE REAR TIRE, SPRAYING A FINE STREAM OF GAS WHEN UNDER PRESSURE. I UNDERSTAND THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH HHR'S, LUCKILY, I CAUGHT IT EARLY COMPARED TO OTHERS. VEHICLE HAD JUST OVER 100,000 MILES AT THE TIME, AND HAS BEEN VERY WELL TAKEN CARE OF.
FIRST MY AIRBAG SYSTEM STARTED COMING ON SAYING SERVICE AIRBAGS AND THE SENSORS ARE ALL NEW, SECOND THE SERVICE ESC COMES ON INTERMITTENTLY CAUSING VEHICLE TO SHIFT EXTREMELY HARD FROM 1ST GEAR (AUTOMATIC TRANNY) BRAKING SYSTEM WAS WORKING FINE AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE BRAKE PEDAL GOES TO THE FLOOR NO BRAKES AND THE FLUID IS FULL AND THE SYSTEM WAS WORKING JUST FINE AFTER MAKING GM AWARE OF THIS THEIR RESPONSE TO IT ALL IS THE VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO BUT THIS WAS AN ISSUE FROM DATE OF MFG AND GM REFUSES TO FIX OR CORRECT THE ONGOING ISSUES ALL OF THESE THINGS HAVE HAPPENED ON CITY STREETS AND HIGHWAYS IF NHTSA CANT HELP WITH THIS ISSUE THEN I HAVE NO WHERE LEFT TO TURN EXCEPT EITHER TO A MORGUE OR A SCRAP YARD
THE CAR WAS PURCHASED IN JANUARY 2016 & WAS GAVE TO ME VIA MY GRANDPAS WILL AFTER HE PASSED AWAY IN JULY 2016. THE CAR NEVER RAN CORRECTLY & IT WAS PARKED FOR A TOTAL OF 9 MONTHS, WHILE GETTING WORKED ON IN THE MEANTIME. IVE PUT ALMOST 1000 INTO THIS CAR & REPLACED EVERY PART IT NEEDED. NOW THE CAR WONT START & SHOWS THE AIR BAG ICON IS ALWAYS ON WHILE THE CAR TELLS ME THAT MY ECS IS "OFF" & SERVICE ECS. I OWN THE VEHICLE & IT IS PAID OFF.
ON NOVEMBER 29TH, 2017 I WAS DRIVING SOUTH ON THE HIGHWAY AND I WAS ABOUT 200 FEET BACK WHEN I NOTICED THAT THE BREAKS WENT DOWN TO THE FLOOR BOARD AND I FREAKED OUT AND DIDNT KNOW WHAT TO DO. THERE WAS KNOW LIGHT THAT CAME ON FOR BREAK OR ABS LIGHT. I HIT A CAR IN FRONT AT THE STOP LIGHT AHEAD AND RAN INTO TO HER MY CAR IS TOTALED. I HAD A TOW TRUCK COME AND GET THE CAR AND HE SAID AS WELL THERE WERE NO BREAKS WHAT SO EVER. ABOUT TWO WEEKS AGO I WAS NOTICING MY CAR WAS ACTING UP WITH THE ELECTRICIAL SYSTEM I HAD A OFFICER AT THE HOSPITAL COME OUT AND HELP ME AND HE SAID THATS WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE AND HE HAS NEVER SEEN THAT BEFORE.
WHILE DRIVING 25 MILES AN HOUR ON DRY FLAT PAVEMENT MY ESC ACTIVE LIGHT CAME ON. I HAD A VERY HARD TIME STEERING AND THE BRAKES WERE APPLYING THEMSELVES. I WAS DIFFICULT TO CONTROL. I WAS IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC IN THE MIDDLE LANE WITH NO WHERE TO PULL OVER. I AM LUCKY I DID NOT HIT ANYONE. AFTER 5 MINUTES OR SO IT WENT OFF.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO RAMEY AUTOMOTIVE, INC. AT (276) 964-2511 (2750 CLINCH ST, RICHLANDS, VA 24641), BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE REPLICATED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. WHEN THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO EXIT THE VEHICLE FROM THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE, THE DOOR HANDLE INADVERTENTLY DETACHED AS WELL AS THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE DOOR HANDLE. THE SAME DEALER WAS CONTACTED AGAIN, BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 88,000.

ELECTRIC POWER STEERING INTERMITTENTLY STOPS WORKING. STARTING HAPPENING TODAY WHILE DRIVING ABOUT 30 MINUTES ON MOUNTAIN ROADS. STOPPED AND CHECKED FOR OBVIOUS ISSUES, AND FOUND NOTHING. RESTARTED AND IT WORKED FINE FOR 3-5 MINUTES THEN STOPPED AGAIN. RESTARTING AGAIN AND WORKED AGAIN FOR 3-5 MINUTES THEN FAILED. STOPPED AND VEHICLE WAS SHUT OFF FOR ABOUT 1 HOUR AND RESTARTED. THEN DROVE FOR ABOUT 1 HOUR AND IT DID NOT FAIL AGAIN TODAY
FUEL LINES ON THESE VEHICLES ARE EXPOSED WHICH HAS CAUSED RUSTING AND THE LINES BREAK. VEHICLE IS LEAKING GAS AND ONLY THE DEALER CARRIES THE PART
IN THE LAST 6 MONTHS I HAVE HAD BOTH FRONT DOOR HANDLES ONE ON THE DRIVERS SIDE AND ONE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE BREAK OFF. IT LOOKS BASED ON MY RESEARCH THIS IS A PROBLEM IN ALL HHR VEHICLES. THIS IS NOT SAVE NOT HAVING HANDLES ON THE INSIDE OF THE DOOR. I LIVE IN MICHIGAN AND WITH WINTER APPROACHING I NEED TO HAVE HANDLES ON THE INSIDE
