AIR BAG LIGHT WILL COME ON AND SAY SERVICE AIR BAGS. IT COMES AND GOES AND CAN BE RESET MANUALLY. HAD IT SERVICED AND IT HAD A BAD CONNECTOR. THE DEALERSHIP RE PINED THE CONNECTOR FOR $155.00 LABOR I FELT RIPPED OFF. SAFETY EQUIPMENT FALLS UNDER DIFFERENT CATEGORY THE RADIO NOT WORKING. *TR
SUNROOF WOULD NOT CLOSE. *TR
KEY FOB IS INOPERABLE EXCEPT FOR THE LOCATE CAR OPTION. UNABLE TO LOCK/UNLOCK DOORS OR ARM SECURITY SYSTEM. GOT A NEW BATTERY AND THOUGHT THAT MIGHT FIX IT, BUT IT'S STILL INOPERABLE. THIS CAR IS BARELY 6 YEARS OLD AND IT SHOULD NOT BE HAVING ALL OF THESE PROBLEMS. THIS CAR THAT WAS RATED WITH ONE OF THE HIGHEST SAFETY RATINGS FOR IT'S TYPE AND THAT IS WHY I PURCHASED IT. NOW I CANNOT EVEN ARM THE ANTI-THEFT DEVICE TO SAFEGUARD MY CAR AND ANYTHING IN IT. WINDOWS DON'T ROLL DOWN, DOOR HANDLES BREAK OFF, THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM IS NOT REPORTING THE CORRECT INFORMATION, THE STEERING IS LOCKING UP AND THE PREVIOUSLY RECALLED IGNITION SWITCH IS NOT PERFORMING CORRECTLY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET HHR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 48,000. *TR
I WAS DRIVING AT APPROX 35 MPH AND THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT. WHEN I FIRST TURN THE CAR ON IT WORKS BUT FOR ONLY ABOUT 10-20 SECONDS THEN GOES OFF AGAIN. IT IS INFURIATING THAT IT ISN'T COVERED IN MY WARRANTY. THE POWER STEERING MOTOR NEEDS TO BE RECALLED!!! *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THE DOOR HANDLE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. FOR THE SECOND TIME IN A WEEK, THE VEHICLE IS BEING SERVICED BECAUSE THE ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL (ESC) ACTIVATED SEVERAL TIMES SINCE THE LAST SERVICE WHILE TRAVELING STRAIGHT ON DRY PAVEMENT AT SPEEDS BETWEEN 15 AND 30 MPH. THE VEHICLE BRIEFLY LOSES STEERING AND PULLS TO THE RIGHT WHILE BRAKE IS INVOLUNTARILY ACTIVATED. AFTER TURNING THE CAR OFF AND RESTARTING, THE CAR CONTINUES NORMALLY. FORTUNATELY, THIS HAS NOT YET CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. ON THIS OCCASION, THE DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THE DEALER HAS VARIOUSLY ATTRIBUTED THE PROBLEM TO MISMATCHED TIRES (REPLACED WITH ALL NEW), BAD HUBS (BOTH REPLACED), BAD SPEED SENSORS (REPLACED), BAD ALIGNMENT (FIXED) AND A WRONGLY CALIBRATED STEERING POSITION SENSOR (RE-CALIBRATED). THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TOWED, REPAIRED REPEATEDLY, AND THE PROBLEM IS BACK AGAIN. THIS NEEDS TO BE ELEVATED TO A RECALL. *JS
WAS AT DOLLAR STORE AND TRIED TO OPEN THE DOOR AS NORMAL AND THE DOOR HANDLE BROKE OFF THE ONLY WAY I COULD GET OUT WAS TO ROLL DOWN THE WINDOW AND OPEN IT FROM THE OUTSIDE THIS HAS TO BE SOME KIND OF DEFECT I'VE NEVER OWNED A CAR WHERE THIS HAS HAPPENED FROM THE WHAT I HAVE SEEN ON THE INTERNET THIS SEEMS LIKE A VERY COMMON THING WITH THE HHR DESIGN. *TR
IN OCCURENCE TO THE FIRST INCIDENT THE PASSENGER INSIDE HANDLE BROKE FIRST, THINKING THAT IT MAY HAVE A WEAR, BUT ON 06/15/2013 THE DRIVER INSIDE HANDLE WAS OPENED AT A NORMAL AND IT BROKE. NOW THE FRONT DOORS OF MY CAR DOES NOT HAVE HANDLES. THE DROP BOX ARE NOT ALLOWING ME TO BE MORE ACCURATE ON THE MAKE, MODEL AND YEAR OF MY VEHICLE AND ALSO CANNOT PUT THE APPROPRIATE DEFECTIVE PARTS. *TR

AFTER TURNING THE CAR OFF AND RESTARTING, THE CAR CONTINUES NORMALLY. FORTUNATELY, THIS HAS NOT YET CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. ON THIS OCCASION, THE RIGHT FRONT HUB WAS REPLACED. THE DEALER HAS VARIOUSLY ATTRIBUTED THE PROBLEM TO MISMATCHED TIRES (REPLACED WITH ALL NEW), BAD HUBS (BOTH REPLACED), BAD SPEED SENSORS (REPLACED), BAD ALIGNMENT (FIXED) AND A WRONGLY CALIBRATED STEERING POSITION SENSOR (RE-CALIBRATED). DRIVING DOWN INTERSTATE AT 65MPH WHEN THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING FAILED WITHOUT WARNING. COULD BARELY GET MANEUVER CAR OFF ROAD ONTO EXIT. SHUT CAR DOWN TO CHECK OUT, RESTARTED CAR, EVERYTHING WORKED FINE AND POWER STEERING WAS FUNCTIONING. TURNED BACK AROUND TO GO HOME AND PARK CAR, POWER STEERING WENT OUT AGAIN - THIS TIME AS I WAS TURNING OFF MAIN ROAD, INTO MY SUBDIVISION. ALMOST HAD CAR IN THE DITCH AS WHEEL JERKED BACK AND POWER STEERING WENT OUT AGAIN. GOT CAR TO DRIVEWAY AND SHUT DOWN. RESTARTED CAR AND EVERYTHING CAME BACK ONLINE AGAIN. DROVE CAR DOWN SUBDIVISION STREET TO TEST THE PROBLEM. COULD NOT GO MORE THAN 5-10 SECONDS BEFORE POWER STEERING SHUT OFF. VERY DANGEROUS. I AM A 6'2", 225 LB GUY AND I STRUGGLED TO GET CAR OFF THE ROAD. WHEN STEERING, THE CAR IS NOT LIKE AN OLDER CAR WITHOUT POWER STEERING, IT TURNS LIKE YOU HAVE TO FIGHT THE WHEEL. IF SOMEONE IS NOT AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND IT GOES OUT FOR THE FIRST TIME IN MID-TURN, THIS COULD DEFINITELY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT OR KILL SOMEONE. *TR
I WAS AT THE SHOPPING CENTER AND WENT TO CUT THE CAR OFF AND THE VEHICLE WOULDN'T CUT OFF. THE KEY WOULD NOT COME OUT OF THE IGNITION. THE KEY WOULD ONLY TURN FORWARD, BUT NOT BACKWARD TO THE CUT OFF POSITION. I TOOK IT TO A LOCAL MECHANIC BECAUSE IT WAS ABOUT 8 PM, THE DEALERSHIP WAS CLOSED. THEY SAID THEY COULDN'T DO ANY, I NEEDED TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER. THEY HAD SEEN THIS HAPPENED BEFORE WITH THIS VEHICLE. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING WARNING LIGHT HAD SUDDENLY ILLUMINATED BEFORE THE POWER STEERING MALFUNCTIONED MAKING THE STEERING WHEEL VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
MY SEAT BELT CONTINUED TO GET STUCK ON THE DRIVERS SIDE OF MY HHR. (WHAT IF I WERE TO HAVE HAD A WRECK AND COULDN'T GET OUT?) TOOK VEHICLE INTO A DEALERSHIP MONDAY 4/29/2013 EVENING AROUND 5 TO HAVE THEM LOOK AT IT TO SEE IF THERE WAS ANYTHING STUCK ETC. WITH THE BUCKLE ITSELF. SERVICE WRITER LOOKED AT IT AND MANAGED TO GET IT STUCK AND FROM THEN I COULD NOT GET THE BUCKLE UNBUCKLED SO THEREFORE I HAVE HAD TO DRIVE AROUND SITTING ON MY SEAT BELT. THE SERVICE WRITER DETERMINED THAT IT WAS THE MECHANISM IN THE BUCKLE ITSELF CAUSING THE SEAT BELT TO GET STUCK. SINCE MY WARRANTY IS UP BECAUSE I AM OVER 14,000 MILES I AM HAVING TO FOOT THE BILL FOR THIS ITEM. THE CAR IS ONLY 3 YEARS OLD HAS NEVER HAD A WRECK NOR HAVE I SPILLED ANYTHING OR DONE DAMAGE TO THIS BUCKLE. I FEEL THAT THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE LOOKED AT AND PAID FOR BY CHEVY. CARS FROM THE 60'S AND 70'S STILL HAVE THEIR ORIGINAL BUCKLES SO THEREFORE WHY AM I HAVING TO REPLACE ONE THAT IS 3 YEARS OLD?! I ALSO CALLED AROUND TO WRECKING YARDS TO POSSIBLY LOCATE THE PART AND COME TO FIND OUT I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE HAVING THIS ISSUE BECAUSE THE GUY AT THE SHOP KNEW EXACTLY THE PART I WAS LOOKING FOR AND WHICH SIDE I WAS LOOKING FOR AS SOON AS I SAID HHR. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY MY POWER STEERING STOPPED WORKING I HEARD A 3 BEEP WARNING LOOKED DOWN AT THE DASH AND ON THE DISPLAY "POWER STEERING" WAS DISPLAYED. I CALLED THE DEALER AND I WAS TOLD THAT MY CAR WAS 304 MILES OVER MY WARRANTY AND THAT THIS WAS NOT RECALLED. I WENT HOME AND STARTED TO DO RESEARCH AND TO MY SURPRISE I WASN'T THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS ISSUE, THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF THEM ONLINE WITH THE SAME ISSUE. THIS IS VERY SCARY FOR ME BECAUSE I HAVE A 4 YEAR OLD AND A 1 1/2 YEAR OLD. I DON'T WANT THIS TO BE A REASON FOR ME TO HAVE AN ACCIDENT. CHEVY ISN'T HELPING ME IN ANYWAY, I NEED HELP. I WAS TURNING IN THE DRIVEWAY OF AN APARTMENT BUILDING AND A BELL WENT OFF AND THE STEERING GOT REALLY HARD TO TURN. I LOOKED AT THE DASH AND SAW THE POWER STEERING LIGHT HAD COME ON. I GOT OUT MY BOOK AND IT SAYS THE POWER STEERING DOESN'T NEED MAINTENANCE, BUT TO CALL THE DEALER IF IT HAPPENS. WELL, I RESTARTED THE CAR AND THE LIGHT WENT OUT, SO I DROVE TO THE STORE A FEW BLOCKS AWAY AND IT DID IT AGAIN. LUCKILY I WASN'T GOING FAST OR IN HEAVY TRAFFIC OR A REALLY BAD ACCIDENT COULD HAVE HAPPENED AND LIVES COULD HAVE BEEN LOST. I HAVE HAD IGNITION PROBLEMS, I COULDN'T TURN OFF THE VEHICLE, LOSS OF ENGINE POWER, ROTOR REPLACED. TWO OF THE SAME SIDE BROKEN INSIDE DRIVER DOOR HANDLES AND BAD GAS MILEAGE. THE STEERING HAS BEEN THE MOST DANGEROUS SO FAR. I READ ON-LINE HOW MANY PEOPLE THIS HAS HAPPENED TO AND I WONDER WHEN THEY WILL RECALL THIS VEHICLE. WHEN SOMEONE DIES? *TR
WHILE DRIVING THE CAR ON SAT 04/27/2013 AT A RATE OF 45 MPH I WENT TO MAKE A TURN AND THE STEERING FROZE UP MAKING IT VERY DIFFICULT TO MAKE ANY KIND OF TURN. I FOUND OUT THEN THAT IT HAD A POWER STEERING MOTOR VS A RESERVOIR OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT. TOOK IT THE NEXT DAY TO MY MECHANIC WHO SAID FUSES CHECKED OUT GOOD HE BELIEVES IT IS THE POWER STEERING MOTOR. CALLING CHEVROLET BUT GETTING THE RUN AROUND NOT GOOD FOR A PART THAT CAN CAUSE A MAJOR ACCIDENT. *TR

WHILE TRYING TO OPEN THE DRIVERS DOOR THE HANDLE BROKE OFF. HANDLE WAS MADE OF PLASTIC. THIS WOULD BE A PROBLEM IF INVOLVED IN FIERY CRASH AND YOU COULD NOT GET OUT OF CAR. *TR
WHILE DRIVING THE CAR THE POWER STEERING LIGHT COMES ON, THERE IS A DING, AND SUDDENLY THE POWER STEERING GOES OUT. IT FIRST HAPPENED 10 DAYS AGO AND HAPPENS AT RANDOM TIMES EVERYTHING THE CAR IS DRIVEN. THE POWER STEERING WILL RESET IF THE ENGINE IS SHUT OFF AND RESTARTED, BUT IT WILL SOON GO OUT AGAIN WITHIN SECONDS OR MINUTES. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS ISSUE AND HAS CAUSED US NEAR ACCIDENTS. I SEE THAT THERE ARE MANY, MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE ON HHR'S OF MULTIPLE MODEL YEARS. PLEASE ADDRESS THIS ISSUE. I HAVE NEVER HAD POWER STEERING ON A VEHICLE JUST GO OUT BEFORE. THIS IS A LATE MODEL CAR AND AN ISSUE OF THIS TYPE AND OF THIS FREQUENCY DEFINITELY POINTS TO A DEFECT AND NOT A WEAR AND TEAR ISSUE. A RECALL IS NEEDED! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET HHR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH, THE POWER STEERING WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AS THE CONTACT LOST POWER STEERING ASSIST. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION AND WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,050. WHILE DRIVING THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING SHUT OFF CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO JERK TO THE RIGHT CAUSING US TO HIT A ROW OF MAIL BOXES. THIS HAS BEEN A REOCCURRING PROBLEM EVER SINCE. *TR

DRIVING DOWN ROAD COMING TO STOP LIGHT. CHIME WENT OFF & POWER STEERING WAS INDICATED ON MY INFORMATION SYSTEM. MY CAR LOST ALL POWER STEERING- WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO STEER. GLAD I WAS NOT IN THE MIDDLE OF A CURVE OR TURN WHEN THAT HAPPENED. *TR

WHILE DRIVING MY POWER STEERING WILL STOP WORKING. IT DOESN'T HAPPEN EVERY TIME WE DRIVE OUR HHR BUT AT LEAST ONCE OR TWICE A WEEK. IT HAS ALMOST CAUSED 4 ACCIDENTS THAT COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED IF THE POWER STEERING WOULD WORK PROPERLY. THE POWER STEERING ALERT WILL SHOW UP ON OUR VEHICLE AND WE HAVE TO SHUT OFF THE VEHICLE AND RESTART IN ORDER FOR IT TO WORK AGAIN. I'M SCARED TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE NOW AFTER WHAT HAS HAPPENED TONIGHT. *TR
ON SUNDAY, MARCH 31ST, 2013, MY VEHICLE WAS LOCKED IN THE RUNNING POSITION AND IT WAS IMPOSSIBLE TO GET MY KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION. THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO RUN UNTIL I WAS ABLE TO CONTACT A LOCAL CAR EXPERT WHO WAS ABLE TO PULL THE FUEL PUMP FUSE TO GET THE ENGINE TO STOP RUNNING. THE NEXT DAY, THIS SAME PERSON TOOK THE VEHICLE IN TO HIS SHOP AND REPLACED THE "IGNITION LOCK CYLINDER" PER A "SILENT" GM RECALL. SOON AFTER THIS INCIDENT, I BEGAN HEARING ABOUT A GM RECALL ON THE "IGNITION SWITCH". I WAS THEN SENT A LETTER FROM GM TO THAT EFFECT. THE LETTER ALSO STATED THAT I COULD BE REIMBURSED FOR WORK DONE IF I HAD REPAIRS MADE ON MY OWN. WHEN I APPLIED FOR A REFUND FOR THE LABOR COST THAT I INCURRED, I WAS NOTIFIED BY THE TEAM CHEVY OF VALPARAISO, IN DEALERSHIP AND TOLD THAT I WOULD NOT BE COMPENSATED FOR BY EXPENSES BECAUSE THE CURRENT RECALL WAS FOR THE "IGNITION SWITCH" AND NOT THE "LOCK CYLINDER". I TRIED TO EXPLAIN THAT THE OTHER PART WAS ALSO A PART OF A PREVIOUS RECALL; HOWEVER, THE REP REFUSED TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE ISSUE WITH THE "LOCK CYLINDER". AFTER DOING SOME ONLINE RESEARCH, I HAVE FOUND THAT MANY PEOPLE HAVE ALSO EXPERIENCED THIS SAME "LOCKING IN THE RUN POSITION ISSUE". FOR THIS REASON, AND THE FACT THAT GM IS ONCE AGAIN SLOW TO ACKNOWLEDGE A DANGEROUS DEFECT IN A VEHICLE WITH A HISTORY OF DANGEROUS DEFECTS, I AM WRITING TO FILE AN OFFICIAL COMPLAINT. AT THIS POINT, I DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN MY VEHICLE. I CURRENTLY HAVE TWO RECALLS OUT ON MY CAR AND HAVE ALREADY REPLACED BY POWER STEERING ASSIST MOTOR AFTER IT FAILED ON A BUSY HIGHWAY IN THE MIDDLE OF A LEFT HAND TURN. THERE ARE A SERIES OF MAJOR FLAWS WITH THIS VEHICLE AND GM NEEDS TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE SAFETY OF ITS CUSTOMERS AND MAKE THIS RIGHT. I WOULD ALSO HOPE THAT THE NHTSA CAN INFLUENCE GM TO EXPAND THEIR RECALL TO COVER ALL IGNITION RELATED PROBLEMS. *TR
WHILE GOING AROUND A BEND IN THE ROAD AT APPROX 35/40MPH, THE POWER STEERING IN MY 2010 CHEVY HHR WENT OUT. THERE WAS A DING AND THEN IT WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN THE WHEEL. I ALMOST HIT A JEEP THAT WAS TURNING INTO A SUBDIVISION OPPOSITE OF US BECAUSE I COULD NOT TURN THE WHEEL TO GET IN THE PASSING AREA. THIS RESULTED IN ME GOING OFF OF THE ROAD. I PULLED ONTO THE NEXT SIDE ROAD I SAW. CHECKED FOR ANY ISSUES AND RESTARTED. I REGAINED POWER STEERING AND WAS ABLE TO BE ON MY WAY. IN APPROX. ANOTHER MILE OR SO IT WENT OUT AGAIN. IT DID SO INTERMITTENTLY ALL THE WAY TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER WAS OF NO HELP BASICALLY SAYING IT WAS AN OPERATOR ERROR. THERE WAS A STEERING RECALL THAT I HAD TAKEN CARE OF EARLIER IN THE YEAR AND MY MECHANIC SAID THAT IT LOOKS LIKE IT WAS REPLACED WITH EQUALLY DEFECTIVE PARTS. MY MECHANIC ALSO SAID THAT IT'S NOT A "WEAR PART" AND NOTHING THAT I DID COULD HAVE CAUSED IT TO DO THAT. IT IS A SHORT ON THE MOTOR/COMPUTER FOR THE POWER STEERING. *TR
I HAVE HAD TWO ISSUES WITH THIS CAR AND IT HAS MADE ME FEEL UNSAFE WHEN DRIVING IT. THE FIRST INVOLVES THE BRAKES. WHEN BRAKING AFTER DRIVING AT 45MPH OR MORE, THE STEERING WHEEL BEGINS SHAKING. I WAS TOLD THE BRAKE PADS NEEDED TO BE CHANGED. I DID AND THE PROBLEM STILL CONTINUED. LAST MONTH, THE POWER STEERING LIGHT CAME ON THE DASHBOARD. FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS, IT WENT AWAY BUT SOON THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME TOO HARD TO TURN. TOOK IT TO MECHANIC WHO CHANGED THE POWER STEERING MODULE AS INDICATED BY THE DIAGNOSTICS TEST. ONCE THE CHANGE WAS DONE, THE SERVICE ESC LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CAR HAS BEEN CRAZY EVER SINCE. I HAVE YET TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE AS NOBODY KNOWS WHAT IS WRONG WITH MY CAR. IT HAS BEEN ALMOST A MONTH ALREADY. I AM UNHAPPY WITH THIS CAR AND WOULD NOT RECOMMEND TO ANYBODY. AFTER LOOKING IT UP, I SEE THAT MANY HAVE THIS SAME ISSUE. BOUGHT USED 2010 CHEVY HHR IN EARLY FEBRUARY 2013 FROM A DEALER. SHORTLY AFTER THE 30 DAY WARRANTY IS OVER, MESSAGE LIGHTS UP ON THE DASH WHILE DRIVING "POWER STEERING" THEN THE POWER STEERING TURNS OFF. I ALMOST CRASHED AS I WAS TURNING THE FIRST TIME I EXPERIENCED THIS! THE POWER STEERING IS RESTORED WHEN YOU RESTART THE CAR. POWER STEERING STOPS WORKING AT ALL SPEEDS AND CONDITIONS. DASH LIGHTS UP SAYING POWER STEERING AND FROM THAT POINT ON UNTIL VEHICLE IS RESTARTED THERE IS NO POWER STEERING. IT HAS HAPPEN MANY TIMES OVER THE LAST WEEK DEALER STATES THAT THE POWER STEERING MOTOR IS BAD AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $265. THERE ARE 1000S OF COMPLAINTS OF THIS HAPPENING WHY IS NOTHING BEING DONE. CANADIAN HHR HAS A RECALL ON THIS BUT NOT US HHR. ON 3/7/13 MY SERVICE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON THE NEXT DAY MY DOOR HANDLE BROKE OFF AND I CALLED GM AND THEY STATED THEY HAD BEEN NO RECALLS FOR THESE PROBLEMS. AFTER LOOKING ONLINE I SAW THAT PEOPLE WERE HAVING ALL KINDS OF PROBLEMS WITH THESE ISSUES AND THEY ARE BOTH BIG SAFETY ISSUES. I FEEL LIKE GM IS NOT WANTING TO TAKE CARE OF THESE ISSUES. THE AIR BAG COULD DEPLOY AT ANY TIME AND THE IF I WAS IN A WRECK OR AUTO WAS ON FIRE I'D HAVE NO WAY OF GETTING OUT THE VEHICLE WITH THE DOOR HANDLE BROKE OFF. THEY JUST TOLD ME IT WAS UP TO ME OR I'D HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL THEY WAS ENOUGH COMPLAINTS. HELLO, I WOULD LIKE TO REPORT THE INTOLERABLE ODOR COMING OUT OF THE AC VENT IN MY CAR, WHICH IS AFFECTING MY HEALTH (EG: THROAT INFECTION) AND WELL BEING. THE CAR HAS ~32000 MILES IN IT AND OUT OF WARRANTY BY ~10 MONTHS. I FOUND A TSB (#99-01-39-004C) ON THIS ISSUE. THE TSB ADVISORY STATES GM TO INSTALL AN AFTER BLOWER KIT IF THE CUSTOMERS COMPLAIN. THESE AFTER BLOWER KITS ARE INSTALLED IN SOME OF THE CARS AND NOT OTHERS DEPENDING ON THE LOCATION OF SALES. I BOUGHT THIS AS A NEW CAR AT CINCINNATI DURING 2010 AND MOVED TO CHARLOTTE DURING 2011 TIME FRAME. DURING MAR 2013, I STARTED NOTICING THE BAD ODOR, BUT I CONVINCED MYSELF THAT THIS WILL GO AWAY DURING SUMMER AND DIDN'T TAKE IT TO A DEALER AT THAT TIME. LATER, HOWEVER IT GOT WORSE AND I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER DURING DEC/2013. THE DEALER RECOMMENDED DEHUMIDIFYING THE EVAPORATOR CORE AND I WENT AHEAD DID IT. IT COST ME ~$110. IT SEEMED TO WORK FINE FOR A WEEK OR SO, BUT THE BAD ODOR RETURNED. I WAS GETTING SICK WITH THROAT INFECTION(S). ON FURTHER INVESTIGATION, I CAME TO KNOW ABOUT THIS TSB THAT I MENTIONED ABOVE. BUT THE DEALER DIDN'T DISCLOSE ABOUT THIS TSB TO ME IN FIRST PLACE, WHEN I TOOK THE CAR THERE DURING DEC/2013. I COMPLAINED ABOUT THIS TO GM AND MENTIONED THAT IT IS THEIR RESPONSIBILITY TO INSTALL THE MISSING AFTER BLOWER KIT. GM REPLIED TO ME SAYING THAT THEY CAN OFFER A COST ASSISTANCE PROGRAM TO INSTALL THIS MISSING KIT AND COVER 1/2 THE COSTS BECAUSE MY CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY. TO ME, THIS IS A CLEAR DESIGN AND MANUFACTURING ISSUE. GM DIDN'T ADVISE ME (DURING PURCHASE OF THIS CAR) IF I MOVE OUT OF CINCINNATI AREA, I MAY NEED THIS AFTER BLOWER KIT TO AVOID MOLD AND MILDEW BUILD UP IN THE AC SYSTEM. I WAS PULLING OUT OF A PARKING LOT AT ABOUT 5 MPH THEN I THOUGHT MY ENGINE STALLED BECAUSE I COULDN'T TURN THE WHEEL. IT TURNS OUT THE ENGINE WAS ON, AND POWER STEERING APPEARED ON THE DISPLAY. AFTER BACKING OUT OF A PARKING SPACE, STOPPING, AND PROCEEDING FORWARD I ATTEMPTED TO AGAIN APPLY THE BRAKE AFTER ABOUT 150 FEET OF MOVING FORWARD. THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS HARD BUT THE BRAKES WERE NOT BEING APPLIED AT ALL. IT MADE NO DIFFERENCE EVEN WHEN APPLYING MUCH ADDITIONAL PRESSURE TO THE PEDAL. IT FELT LIKE THE ABS WAS PREVENTING THE BRAKES FROM WORKING AS I COASTED TO A STOP. AFTER A BRIEF AMOUNT OF TIME THE BRAKES SEEMED TO WORK NORMALLY. IT HAS NOW HAPPENED TWO ADDITIONAL TIMES AFTER THE CAR HAS BEEN SITTING FOR A NUMBER OF HOURS. *TR

VEHICLE SHUT DOWN DUE TO POWER STEERING. LIGHT CAME ON, MANUAL SAYS TO TURN OFF ENGINE AND RESTART AND IT WILL CLEAR LIGHT. HOWEVER, WHEN REACHING SPEED OF 40MPH THE POWER STEERING WAS AGAIN HARD TO TURN. AGAIN LIGHT CAME ON. UPON THE SECOND TIME THIS HAPPENED, ALMOST CAUSING A WRECK, IT WAS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO STEER VEHICLE AND GET IT OFF THE ROADWAY. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THE VEHICLE NEEDS POWER STEERING REPAIR. COSTING $365.00. WHAT A COSTLY REPAIR ON A NEW VEHICLE. I HAVE HAD OLDER VEHICLES THAT NEVER HAD THE POWER STEERING NEEDING REPAIR. ALSO ASK THAT TRANSMISSION BE CHECKED AGAIN. VEHICLE HAS ALREADY HAD REBUILT TRANSMISSION INSTALLED BY GM/ CHEVROLET. TRANSMISSION IS STILL SLIPPING WHEN TRYING TO GET ON FREEWAY. WHEN SLOWING DOWN FROM HIGH SPEED, THE TRANSMISSION WILL SOUND LIKE IT IS SLIPPING INTO ANOTHER GEAR. *TR

IT CAN BE RESET BY STOPPING THE VEHICLE AND RESTARTING THE ENGINE. THE POWER STEERING RETURNS AND RANDOMLY FAILS AGAIN. IT MAY OCCUR AGAIN IN A FEW MINUTES,MILES OR WAIT TIL YOUR NEXT TRIP.
