The contact owns a 2009 Chevrolet Impala. The contact stated that upon purchasing the vehicle from an independent mechanic, the check engine warning light was illuminated. The mechanic informed her that the vehicle was included in an unknown recall. The independent mechanic took the vehicle to the dealer for the recall repair. A month after the repair, the check engine warning light reappeared. The dealer nor the manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 156,000.
THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR SEVERAL YEARS, AND HAPPENED AGAIN YESTERDAY..... PULLED OUT ONTO 4 LANE DIVIDED HIGHWAY AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON, DASH SAID "ENGINE POWER REDUCED", BUT DID NOT SEEM TO BE SIGNIFICANTLY LOW ON POWER. DROVE ABOUT 5 MILES DOWN THE ROAD, THEN CAR SUDDENLY DIED. WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER TO SIDE OF THE ROAD (WITH THREE SMALL CHILDREN IN THE VEHICLE), TRIED TO RESTART THE CAR BUT DISPLAY SAID "STARTING DISABLED, SERVICE THROTTLE". WAITED ABOUT 5 MINUTES AND CAR RESTARTED. WAS ABLE TO DRIVE HOME, NO REDUCED POWER BUT CHECK ENGINE LIGHT REMAINED ON. I HAVE SEEN MANY COMMENTS ONLINE FROM OTHERS WHO OWN SIMILAR GM VEHICLES THAT HAVE HAD SIMILAR ISSUES. WE HAVE ALSO HAD SIMILAR ISSUES WITH OUR 2011 SUBURBAN, ALTHOUGH NO STALLING. THERE SHOULD BE AN IMMEDIATE RECALL FOR ALL 2008 - 2011 GM VEHICLES TO REPAIR THIS ISSUE, MOST LIKELY ACCELERATOR PEDAL POSITION SENSOR.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SEVERAL WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED, INCLUDING THE ABS, AIR BAG, SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL, AND STABILITY CONTROL. THE CONTACT ALSO HEARD BANGING NOISES COMING ROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE, RESULTING IN ROUGH DRIVING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
EARLIER THIS YEAR MY CAR STARTED FLASHING A "REDUCE ENGINE POWER" AND "SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL" TOGETHER. MY CAR SOUNDED LIKE IT WAS WORKING HARDER TOO BUT I WAS CITY DRIVING LESS THAN 30MPH SO I DIDN'T OTHERWISE NOTICE PROBLEMS. THIS HAPPENED RARELY. A FEW MONTHS LATER I WAS ON THE FREEWAY JUST GETTING ON (FLAT ROAD) AND THE WARNINGS CAME ON SUDDENLY. THEN AS I GOT OVER 40MPH, MY CAR ENGINE SHUT DOWN AND MY STEERING WHEEL LOCKED. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO MAKE A SLIGHT TURN OFF MY WHEELS ENOUGH TO GET TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. MY CAR FLASHES THESE RANDOMLY AFTER RANDOM LENGTHS OF TIME OF THE CAR BEING ON AND DRIVEN AND IT'S ALMOST A DAILY OCCURRENCE. I'VE SEEN ONLINE NO ONE HAS BEEN ABLE TO SOLVE THE ISSUE.
CAR DRIVES FOR 15 MINUTES THEN DISPLAY AN "ENGINE POWER REDUCED" AND "SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL" LIGHT. CAR HESITATES TO ACCELERATE THE EVENTUALLY CUTS OFF AFTER A "SERVICE THROTTLE BODY LIGHT" COMES ON. CAR CUT OFF ON THE HIGHWAY AT 70MPH. WHENEVER THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE CAR THESE LIGHTS COME ON. IT DOESN'T SPECIFY WHAT THE ACTUAL PROBLEM IS.
BAD SOLENOID IN TRANSMISSION CAUSES CAR TO JERK UPON ACCELERATION. TRANSMISSION SLIPS. USUALLY HAPPENS TAKING OFF FROM A STOP WITH A SLOW ACCELERATION. FEELS LIKE BEING REAR ENDED AND CAN CAUSE SLUGGISH ACCELERATION. PROBLEM NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED WITH A RECALL AS MANY OTHER IMPALA DRIVERS HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS SAME ISSUE. ISSUE HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST 9 TIMES WITHIN A 6 WEEK PERIOD.
"LOW OIL PRESSURE LIGHT, SHUT OFF ENGINE" KEEPS COMING ON. OIL IS FULL. SO FAR I HAVE AIR BAG LIGHT, TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT, ENGINE LIGHT, ENGINE SPEED REDUCED LIGHT ALL ON! HOW ARE THESE AUTO'S NOT BEING RECALLED! I WILL NEVER OWN A CHEVY AGAIN! UNSAFE PIECE'S OF JUNK!

VEHICLE SERVICED BY FIRESTONE COMPLETE AUTO CARE, NOVEMBER, DECEMBER 2016 VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION, ON A CITY STREET VEHICLE EXHIBITED REDUCED ENGINE POWER, RAN ROUGH, TRIGGERED ENGINE ERROR ALARM. DIAGNOSTIC BY FIRESTONE REVEALED A PEDAL POSITION SENSOR ERROR, ERROR CODE ' P2122, RESULTED IN REPLACEMENT OF ACCELERATOR PEDAL ASSEMBLY, REMOVAL & REPLACEMENT OF THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR. VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION, ON A CITY STREET UPON RETURN OF THE VEHICLE TO THE OWNER, REPLACEMENT OF ACCELERATOR PEDAL THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR RESULTED IN INTERMITTENT, DANGEROUSLY UNCONTROLLED VEHICLE ACCELERATION, VEHICLE WAS TOWED BACK TO FIRESTONE REPAIR SHOP. UNCONTROLLED VEHICLE ACCELERATION WAS RESOLVED BY REPLACEMENT OF THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY. THE CONDITIONS INITIALLY DESCRIBED, REDUCED ENGINE POWER, ROUGH IDLE WAS PREDICTED IN A LETTER, DATED NOVEMBER 2015 AS RECEIVED BY OWNER FROM GENERAL MOTORS CHEVROLET DIVISION REGARDING A DO NOT RETURN TO DEALER ORDER, ALL IN BOLD LETTERS AND UNDER LINED. FURTHER INSTRUCTION CLEARLY COMMUNICATED THAT THE ISSUE WOULD NOT BE ADDRESSED UNLESS THE ISSUE ACTUALLY OCCURRED AND HAD TO BE WITHIN STRICT TIME CUT OFF RELATED TO WHEN VEHICLE WAS PLACED IN TO SERVICE OR UNDER 120,000 MILES. ANY POSSIBLE REPAIRS ONCE APPROVED FOR THE CONDITIONS DESCRIBED WERE COVERED UNDER A SPECIAL COVERAGE PROGRAM. THE ISSUE CREATED A CLEAR AND OBVIOUS DANGEROUS SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD HAVE BEEN MANAGED AS A SAFETY RECALL NOT A DO NOT RETURN TO DEAL ORDER AND MANAGED AS A SPECIAL COVERAGE PROGRAM. OWNERS OF VEHICLES WITH THE ISSUE OR THE POTENTIAL FOR THIS ISSUE TO OCCUR, VICTIMS RESULTING FROM THIS ISSUE SHOULD BE COMPENSATED FOR ALL REPAIR FEES AND LIABILITY CLAIMS RESULTING FROM THIS ISSUE AS REPORTED HERE TODAY.

A MESSAGE SHOWED ON THE DASH: " REDUCED ENGINE POWER, SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL" AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON. THIS HAPPENED TODAY AROUND 7 PM ON OCT 30, 2016. MY CAR IS A CHEVY IMPALA 2009. I SEARCHED ONLINE AND FOUND THOUSANDS OF MESSAGES ABOUT THE SAME ERROR MESSAGE OF REDUCED ENGINE POWER ON MANY MODELS OF GM CARS INCLUDING IMPALA, MALIBU, TRAILBLAZER, SILVERADO. THIS WORRIES ME VERY MUCH AS SO MANY SAME ERROR MESSAGES AND ENGINE PROBLEMS HAPPENED ON SO MANY GM CARS. MY RESEARCH SHOWS THAT GM HAS DONE NOTHING TO RESOLVE THIS PROBLEM YET. SO THIS IRRESPONSIBILITY OF GM ON THIS SPECIFIC ISSUE PUT THE LIVES OF HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF DRIVERS IN DANGER. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE "SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL MODULE: ENGINE POWER REDUCED BY 50%" WARNING MESSAGE DISPLAYED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. MONTGOMERY CHEVROLET OF LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL AND THAT THERE WOULD BE NO SERVICE PROVIDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 125,000.
REDUCED ENGINE POWER APPEARED FOLLOWED BY CHECK TRACTION CONTROL. THEN SYMBOL FOR CHECK TRACTION CONTROL AND ENGINE COMPLETELY IN PASSING LANE ON INTERSTATE 80. CHECK ENGINE SYMBOL ALSO LIT, CAR COMPLETELY DIED AND WOULD NOT RESTART. APPROX 15 MIN LATER, IT DID START WITH CHECK ENGINE SYMBOL LIGHTED.
I WAS WAITING AT A STOP LIGHT. WHEN THE SIGNAL TURNED GREEN, I TURNED AND AS I WAS TURNING MY CAR BEGAN TO DECELERATE AND SHUT DOWN. I HAD TO STEER HARD TO PULL OVER TO GET OUT OF TRAFFIC. I PULLED ALONGSIDE THE ROAD. THINKING MAYBE IT WAS LOW ON FUEL, I HAD MY BROTHER GET GAS AND WE PUT GAS IN IT. HOWEVER, IT WOULD NOT START. SAT FOR MAYBE 20 MINUTES TO SEE IF IT. NOTHING HAPPENED. MY SISTER CAME TO GIVE ME A JUMP THINKING THAT I NEEDED ONE. HOWEVER, NO LUCK AT ALL. HAD TO PULL THE CAR HOME. THE MECHANIC THOUGHT THAT IT WAS MY STARTER, PUT THE STARTER ON AND STILL NOTHING. THE END RESULT, MY ENGINE HAS SEIZED ON ME!!
