AT 9000 MILES CENTER TREADS OF ALL TIRES WERE SHOWING ABNORMAL WEAR. SPOKE TO GM DIRECTLY, THEY SENT ME TO DEALER. I WAS TOLD THAT IS THE WAY THE AFFINITY TIRES WEAR AND THEY SHOULD BE GOOD FOR ANOTHER 30,000 MILES. I ASKED THEM TO PUT THAT IN WRITING FOR ME, OF COURSE THEY REFUSED. AT THE PRESENT 13000 MILES, THE TREAD WEAR IS SPREADING. IF GM AND CHEVROLET BOTH KNEW THAT THESE TIRES WORE THIS WAY, THEY COULD HAVE AT LEAST GIVEN THE OPTION OF UPGRADING TO BETTER TIRES. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE WITH THESE TIRES, ESPECIALY WITH THE WEATHER CONDITIONS IN THE ARE THAT I LIVE.. I BELIEVE THAT I WAS TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF BY A MAJOR CORPORATION TO THE FULLEST.. VECHICLE MADE A RATTLING NOISE. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER & FOUND THE PISTONS HAD TO BE REPLACED. DEALER SAID THAT THE NOISE WAS COMMON. *AK
WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 61-65MPH & WAS ACCELERATING ONTO FREEWAY WHEN ANOTHER VEHICLE ALONG SIDE WAS SLOWING DOWN & THEN SPED UP. TO AVOID IT, CONSUMER WENT AROUND VEHICLE & LOST CONTROL. WENT THROUGH A FENCE & HIT SOME TREES. UPON IMPACT, AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY.*AK
VEHICLE VIBRATES INTENSLY WHEN BRAKES ARE APPLIED. BRAKES AND ROTORS HAVE BEEN REPLACED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS AND PROBLEM STILL PERSISTS
HAD CAR FOR 15 MINUTES, TRAVELED APPOX 8 MILES WHEN MAKING SUDDEN STOP HAD BRAKE FAILURE. CAR CONTINUED TO TRAVEL UNTIL IT BECAME LODGED OVER A TREE TRUNK. THIS VEHICLE WAS NEW AND HAD ONLY 20 MILES ON. DEALER SAID THEY HAVE NO IDEA HOW THE BRAKES WOULD HAVE FAILED, WE ARE STILL WORKING WITH THEM TO GET THIS SOLVED, IN THE MEAN TIME THEY ARE NOT PROVIDING US WITH A RENTAL OR LOANER BECAUSE THEY SAID WE ARE NOT HAVING OUR VEHICLE CURRENTLY SERVICED. SO I AM WITHOUT TRANSPORTATION. THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS. *AK

2000 CHEVY MALIBU. ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM RANDOMLY ENGAGES AND WILL NOT ALLOW THE CAR TO BE STARTED. WE HAVE TO KEY LOCK AND UNLOCK THE DOORS, HAVE HAD TO UNHOOK THE BATTERY(WHICH WE JUST REPLACED IN HOPES THAT WAS PART OF THE PROBLEM) , AND LET THE CAR SIT FOR TEN MINUTES IN HOPES THAT IT WILL RESET ITSELF. AT 2:30 IN THE MORNING, AND THE NEIGHBORHOOD I WORK IN, THIS IS UNSAFE. *TR
GM HAS A RECALL ON CHEVROLET MALIBU'S YEAR 2000 (HAZARD LIGHT SWITCH REPLACEMENT) I HAVE A CHEVROLET MALIBU YEAR 2000 WITH A FAULTY HAZARD LIGHT SWITCH, BUT MS. GAY MILLER OF CHEVROLET CUSTOMER SERVICE SAID, "YOUR VIN WASN'T INCLUDED IN THE RECALL." HELP ME TO UNDERSTAND WHY YOU WOULD REPAIR SOME FAULTY HAZARD LIGHT SWITCHES ON CHEVROLET MALIBU'S YEAR 2000 BUT NOT ALL CHEVROLET MALIBU'S YEAR 2000 WITH FAULTY HAZARD LIGHT SWITCHES.
THE FRONT BRAKE ROTORS (ROTORS WARPED) AND PADS HAVE BEEN REPLACED 5 TIMES NOW BUT DEALER CANNOT FIND THE PROBLEM. THE AREA SERVICE MANAGER FOR CHERVOLET SEEMS TO THINK THAT "THE BRAKES ARE NOT A SAFETY ISSUE". I THINK DIFFERENTLY. THE FRONT OF THE CAR STARTS SHAKING AND THE STEERING WHEEL STARTS SHAKING (WORSE THEN IT NORMALLY DOES), I HAVE ALSO HEARD CLICKING NOISES WHEN I APPLY THE BRAKES.
VEHICLE WOULD STALL OUT WITHOUT ANY PRIOR WARNING WHILE DRIVING. THIS PROBLEM HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST 3 TIMES. TOOK TO DEALER & MECHANIC COULD NOT LOCATE PROBLEM OF STALLING. HAD REPLACED THE FUEL MODULATOR & THE FUEL PUMP 3 TIMES. BUT, STALLING PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. *AK
ON TWO OCCASIONS AT AN INTERSECTION AND UPON APPLYING BRAKES, VEHICLE COMMENCED TO JERK ITSELF INTO AN INTERSECTION. AT ANOTHER TIME, IT OCCURRED WHILE WAITING AT A STOP LIGHT. IT STARTED TO JERK ITSELF AGAIN WHILE APPLYING THE BRAKES. VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN/OUT OF DEALER'S SHOP ON THREE OCCASIONS, AND THE PROBLEM IS STILL UNRESOLVED. *AK *ML

SOUNDS LIKE PADS ARE DRAGGING ON ROTORS. VEHICLE AT DEALER, WHO SAID PADS/SHOES AND ROTORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. *AK
HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE ROTORS/BRAKE PADS AT 9,000, 12,000, 16,000, 24,000 AND NOW AGAIN AT 28,000. ROTORS OR PADS HAVE BEEN REPLACED 4 TIMES AND ARE BAD AGAIN. GM DEALER SAID THIS IS NORMAL FOR ALL GMC VEHICLES. *AK
BRAKES ON VEHICLE HAVE BEEN REPLACED THREE TIMES IN PAST YEAR. CONTACTED DEALER, AND THERE WAS NOT MUCH DEALER COULD DO. *AK ALSO, GAS GUAGE FAILED TWICE. THE PASSENGER SEAT RECLINER WAS DAMAGED. THE ELECTRIC OUT LET BROKE AND A/C HEATING SYSTEM FAILED. *YH
CONSUMER BOUGHT A BRAND NEW VEHICLE, AND IT STARTED HAVING STEERING PROBLEMS WITHIN 24 HOURS. IT WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN STEERING WHEEL, AND STEERING WHEEL SHOOK WHEN APPLYING BRAKES. STEERING PUMP REPLACED, BUT VEHICLE STILL HAS SHAKE PROBLEM WHEN BRAKING, AS WELL AS NOISE COMING FROM LEFT REAR. *AK *ML
WHILE APPLYING BRAKES THERE IS A SQUEAKING AND GRINDING NOISE IN FRONT WHEELS. DEALERSHIP IS AWARE OF PROBLEM.*AK
ONGOING PROBLEM WITH EXCESSIVE WEAR OF ROTORS. THIS WAS THE THIRD SET OF REPLACEMENT. DEALER NOTIFIED, AND PERFORMED REPAIRS. BUT WAS UNABLE TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM AT THIS TIME. *AK *ML
VEHICLE FIRST TOWED TO SHOP ON 04/04/00 FOR VEHICLE OVERHEATING. TOP RADIATOR HOSE SPLIT. INFORMED DEALER OF VIBRATION IN FRONT END AT 30 MPH AND UP, THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE. ON 04/11/00 HEARD THUMPING NOISE FROM FRONT AND WHILE PULLING IN DRIVEWAY LOST CONTROL OF LEFT FRONT WHEEL. TOWED TO DEALER AND LEFT SIDE OUTER TIE ROD END REPLACED. PICKED UP FROM DEALER ON 04/12/00 AND 2 MILES AWAY ABS LIGHT CAME ON. PARKED VEHICLE IN DRIVEWAY AND NEXT MORNING LIGHT WAS OFF. LEFT FOR WORK AND GOT 6 MILES AWAY WHEN CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND TRANSMISSON STARTED SLIPPING. CALED AND NOTIFIED CHEVY AND THEY SAID DRIVE VEHICLE THEN HAVE IT TOWED IN THE NEXT DAY. ON 04/14/00 WAS DRIVING DOWN ROAD AT 40 MPH WHEN I LOST CONTROL OF STEERING AGAIN AND HIT A TREE. REPAIRS TO STEERING/ABS LIGHT/CHECK ENGINE LIGHT/TRANSMSSION SLIPPING NOT TAKEN CARE OF YET.
ENGINE MAKES A KNOCKING NOISE. DEALERR HAS CHECKED AND SAID IT MAY BE AIR CONDITIONER COMPRESSOR. *AK ENGINE WAS REPLACED, BRAKES MAKE NOISE. FIRESTONE AFFINITY TIRES MAKE NOISE IN THE FRONT, 15 INCH. *SLC
THIS COMPLAINT STEMS FROM THE TIME I HAVE HAD THIS CAR. A POPPING NOISE THAT COMES FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE FROM EITHER BOTH THE TRUNK AREA AND OR SUSPENSION, A HOLLOW SOUND NOT VERY LOUD THOUGH. IT HAPPENS ON UNEVEN SURFACES AT VERY LOW SPEEDS. I BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE DEALER FOUR TIMES AND SOMETIMES THE SOUND OR SOUNDS ARE NOTICED BUT NOTHING IS DONE,EXCEPT FOR LUBRICATION. SOMETIMES IT IS HARD TO DUPLICATE AND AT OTHER TIMES IT CAN. ALSO IT NEVER HAPPENS AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. ONLY SLOW SPEEDS AND ON RIGHT OR LEFT TURNS. I HOPE THAT THE ENGINEERS CAN DISCOVER IT. #5 FUEL INJECTOR HAS HAD TO BE REPLACED AT 27,963 MILES AND AT 58,736 MILES. REPAIR SHOP STATED THAT #5 FUEL INJECTOR IS LOCATED CLOSE TO THE EGR VALVE WHICH PUTS OFF A LOT OF HEAT AND MAY BE CONTRIBUTING TO THE PREMATURE FAILURE. *NLM
STEERING WHEEL SHIMMY. ABNORMAL BRAKE PEDAL VIBRATION (NOT ABS). CAR PULLS TO ONE SIDE WHILE APPLYING BRAKES.
THIS CAR HAS BEEN ONE PROBLEM AFTER ANOTHER. THE DAY AFTER WE LEASED THE CAR IT WAS IN THE SHOP FOR THE BRAKES, THE CAR HAS HAD 2 ENGINES IN IT. THE TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN REBUILT. THE BRAKES ARE STILL NOT CORRECT. TRANSMISSION IS SLIPPING AGAIN AND THE 3 YEAR WARRANTY IS UP. WE COMPLAINED TO CHEVROLET AND THE BBB. TO NO AVAIL THEY SEEMED TO BE ON CHEVROLET'S SIDE IN THE CASE. WE WERE TO THE POINT THAT WE WERE JUST GOING TO LET THE CAR GO BACK BUT THAT WOULD ONLY HURT MY HUSBAND'S CREDIT MORE THEN IT WAS ALREADY. WE HAD TO KEEP THE CAR THROUGH THE LEASE. THIS LEFT A REALLY BAD TAST IN MY MOUTH FOR PURCHASING NEW VEHICLES BECAUSE YOU ARE STUCK WITH IT FOR THE DURATION OF THE LEASE OR PURCHASE.
THE BRAKES DON'T STOP PROPERLY. THE BRAKES HAVE BEEN CHANGED 3 TIMES. THE ROTORS HAVE BEEN TURNED ONCE AND CHANGED ONCE. THE BLINKERS DON'T WORK 95% OF THE TIME AND THE EMERGENCY FLASHERS NEVER WORK PROPERLY. THE AC SETTINGS CHANGE ON THEIR OWN AS YOU ARE DRIVING THE CAR. THIS CAUSES THE COMPRESSOR TO TURN ON AND OFF, EVENTUALLY CAUSING PREMATURE COMPRESSOR FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAS DIED 4 TIMES AS WE WERE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, ONCE ALMOST GETTING US KILLED AS WE WERE TURNING IN FRONT OF A TRUCK. ALSO, THE BRAKES HAVE ALMOST CAUSED US TO BE IN A WRECK. WE HAVE ALMOST BEEN REAR ENDED BECAUSE OF THE TURN SIGNAL FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER AND THE DEALERSHIP HAS HAD MANY TIMES TO FIX THIS VEHICLE WITH NO SUCCESS. TO THIS POINT, WE HAVE NOT BEEN INVOLVED IN A MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT. HOWEVER, IS IT GOING TO TAKE ME OR MY FAMILY BEING KILLED TO GET SOMETHING DONE WITH THIS VEHICLE?
THE BRAKE SYSTEM WAS NOISY AND WAS SERVICED SIX DIFFERNT TIMES, BUT THE PROBLEM STILL REMAINS. ROTORS AND DRUMS WERE BADLY WARPED CAUSING PULSATION WHEN BRAKES WERE APPLIED. *YH
I HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE WITH MY BRAKE SYSTEM AND HAVE HAD MY FRONT ROTORS AND PADS REPLACED 4 TIMES - I HAVE ONLY HAD THE CAR FOR A YEAR. THEY TELL ME THIS A PROBLEM WITH MALIBU'S AND PLACE NEW PARTS ON MY CAR BUT AFTER A FEW MONTHS THE PROBLEM RE-OCCURS. I GET A PULSATION/VIBRATION WHEN I BRAKE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND FROM TIME TO TIME MY BRAKE PEDAL GOES ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. EACH TIME THEY SAY MY ROTORS ARE WARPED AND REPLACE THEM.*AK
IF THE HEADLIGHTS GO OFF AT NIGHT DURING THE DRIVING, ACCIDENT COULD HAPPEN. *AK
MY ROTORS AND BRAKE PADS WERE REPLACED BECAUSE OF DEFECTIVE ROTORS 3 TIMES SINCE I PURCHASED MY CAR THEY WERE REPLACED AT 407 MILES AND 8248 MILES AND FINALLY MY ROTORS WERE REPLACED AT 27980 MILES IT SEEMS AS THOUGH GENERAL MOTORS HAS BEEN USING DEFECTIVE ROTORS ON THEIR CARS AND IS NOT GOING TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT UNTIL SOMEONE IS KILLED AND THEY ARE SUED THEN MAYBE THE GOVERNMENT WILL FORCE THEM TO LOOK INTO THIS PROBLEM.*JB
I HAVE BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH MY HAZARD LIGHTS AS WELL AS TURNING SIGNALS. THEY HAVE BEEN REPLACED SINCE THE LAST RECALL, BUT HAVE WENT OUT AGAIN. I ALSO HAVE BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH MY FUEL LINE, SUCH AS MY VEHICLE NOT WANTING TO ACCELERATE, IT SEEMS THAT IT IDLES AT A INTERSECTION LIGHT WITH THE RPM'S GOING UP TO THE 2 OR 3 THEN ACTING AS IF IT WANTS TO SHUT OFF. I HAD THE FUEL LINE REPLACED NOT EVEN THIRTY DAYS AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE. I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE JAN OF 2000, AND I DID SEE SOME INVESTIGATION CONCERNING THE FUEL LINE MONTHS PRIOR TO THE PURCHASE. MY VEHICLE STOPPED ON THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY, AND MY VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A CHEVORLET DEALER OUTSIDE OF LANSING NEAR LAKE ODESSA. I AT THAT TIME WAS NOT CHARGED FOR THIS FUEL PUMP WHICH THEY DID TRY TO CHARGE BUT BECAUSE IT HAPPENED WITHIN THE THIRTY DAYS THEY REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP AT NO CHARGE. I DO SEE ON THIS SITE THAT THIS VEHICLE A 2000 CHEVY MALIBU HAS BEEN INVESTIGATED DUE TO FUEL PROBLEMS SO I HOPING THIS WAS LOOKED INTO PROPERLY AND BROUGHT TO THE SURFACE ONCE AGAIN BECAUSE MY PUMP WAS CHANGED IN 2000 AND HAS BEEN GIVING ME PROBLEM SINCE 2002. I HAVE HAD TUNE-UPS, TRANSMISSION CHANGED, ROUTINE OIL CHANGES, FUEL LINE CLEANED, DIAGNOSIS RAN, AND THE RESULTS ARE NOTHING I'M HOPING TO GET TO THE BOTTOM OF THIS BEFORE TAKING ANY DOCUMENTATION TO A LAWYER CONCERNING A MATTER THAT HAS BEEN BROUGHT TO THE SURFACE BUT NOTHING DONE ABOUT IT. ALSO I'VE TOOK THIS VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS PURCHASED AND THEY CAN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. THE QUESTION THEY ASK IS WHETHER THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS COME ON OR NOT. I HAVE ALL SENSORS CHECKED OUT AND THAT NOT THE PROBLEM, BUT MY GAS LEAVES FAST AND I HAVE A HARD TIME ACCELERATING ON THE RESIDENTIAL STREETS AS WELL AS THE HIGH WAY. I ALSO HAVE BEEN HAVING TO CHANGE THE FUSES IN ORDER FOR MY HORN AND CIGARETTE LIGHTER TO WORK. SO SOMEONE PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS BECAUSE IT'S GETTING WORSE. VEHICLE SHUT DOWN MULTIPLE TIMES WHILE DRIVING, AND OCCASIONALLY DID NOT START. CONSUMER HAS TAKEN VEHICLE TO DEALER TWICE, THE O2 SENSOR HAS BEEN REPLACED, AND THE IGNITION SWITCH, WHICH WAS CAUSING THE PROBLEM, WAS ALSO REPLACED. *AK *ML

IT WAS REPLACED ON NOVEMBER 30, 1999 AND MARCH 19, 2014. THE CONSUMER STATED WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE THE STEERING AND BRAKES FAILED. ALSO, THE OIL PRESSURE SWITCH AND THROTTLE BODY WERE REPLACED. *JB

NAR 04/10/2003 IT APPEARS TO THE CONSUMER THAT THERE IS A DESIGN PROBLEM WITH THE #5 FUEL INJECTOR, IT ALSO INSIGNIFICANT THAT A FUEL INJECTOR NEEDS TO BE REPLACED EVERY 28,000 MILES. A FUEL INJECTOR IS NOT A MAINTENANCE PROBLEM. PLEASE LOOK INTO WHETHER IT IS A DESIGN FLAW AND IF CHEVROLET WILL CORRECT PROBLEM. *CB
VEHICLE'S BLINKERS DO NOT WORK.*MR THE DRIVER'S SIDE POWER WINDOW INTERMITTENTLY FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO INSTALLED A NEW SWITCH FOR THE BLINKERS. THE TECHNICIAN TOLD THE CONSUMER THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON OTHER GM VEHICLES FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. THE TECHNICIAN CHECKED THE VEHICLE'S VIN AND INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED. CONSUMER BELIEVES HIS VEHICLE FALLS UNDER THE LEMON LAW SPECIFICATIONS. *KB THE CONSUMER STATED THE DEFECTIVE CALIPER DESIGN CAUSED PREMATURE WEAR OF THE CALIPERS AND ROTORS. AFTER REPLACING THE FACTORY SUPPLIED CALIPERS, THE PREMATURE ROTOR AND BRAKE PAD WEAR CEASED. THE INTAKE MANIFOLD WAS REPLACED SEVERAL TIMES. ONCE THE NEW GASKET MATERIAL WAS IMPLEMENTED THE INTAKE GASKET NO LONGER LEAKED. THE SAFETY HAZARD LIGHT CONTROL ASSEMBLY ON THE STEERING WAS REPLACED THREE TIMES BECAUSE THE DEALER REPLACED DEFECTIVE COMPONENTS WITH ADDITIONAL DEFECTIVE COMPONENTS IT WAS FINALLY DETERMINED THE HAZARD LIGHT SWITCH WAS COVERED UNDER A SPECIAL AGREEMENT WITH NHTSA, HOWEVER, GM REFUSED TO HONOR THE AGREEMENT. *JB
WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY ENGINE COMPLETELY SHIUT DOWN WITHOUT WARNING DUE TO A DEFECTIVE FUEL PUMP. PLEASE GIVE ANY FURTHER DETAILS. *AK
