I SAW A RECALL ON AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT AND A RECALL ON SOMETHING ABOUT THE KEY IN THE IGNITION CAUSING THE CARS ENGINE TO SHUT OFF. MY CAR HAS BEEN SHUTTING OFF AND SHORTING SHOWING THE BATTERY LIGHT AND THEM WHEN I TAP THE GAS PEDAL THR GAS GAGE IS A HALF TANK BUT IT GOES AS IF ITS OUT OF GAS AND THE RPMS ONLY GO UP WHEN I AM NOT DRIVING OR IDLING AND MY ABS LIGHT FOR BRAKES KEEPS TURNING ON BUT NOW DOESNT TURN OFF AND THIS HAS JUST STARTED HAPPENING OH AND THR BATTERY LIGHT NOW HAS SHORTED THE STALK STEREO AND IT ONLY TURNS ON EVERY SO OFTEN.
A CHURCH VAN WAS PULLING OUT OF A DRIVEWAY AND FAILED TO YIELD THE RIGHT OF WAY. WE T-BONED THEM GOING 35MPH. WE HIT THEM INCREDIBLY HARD AND YET THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY! FOUR OF THEIR PASSENGERS WERE SENT TO THE HOSPITAL IN THE AMBULANCE AND THE TWO OF US IN THE MALIBU WENT LATER. THE CAR WAS TOTALED AND THE CHURCH VAN HAD SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE AS WELL. *TR

THE CONTACT SUSTAINED A HEAD INJURY THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY; HOWEVER, THE AIR BAG COVER OPENED AND REMAINED FOLDED WITHIN THE AIR BAG AREA. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED BY THE POLICE DEPARTMENT. THE DRIVER RECEIVED INJURIES TO THE NECK AND BACK. THE PASSENGER RECEIVED INJURIES TO THE NECK AND WAS ALSO TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL. THE SEAT BELTS WERE WORN AT THE TIME OF THE CRASH. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.

I OWN A 2001 CHEVY MALIBU VIN 1G1NE52J516159XXX. I ALWAYS DRIVE WITH MY SEAT BELT ON. I'VE NOTICED THAT FREQUENTLY THE SEAT BELT COMPLETELY LOCKS UP SO TIGHTLY AGAINST MY CHEST THAT I AM UNABLE TO LEAN FORWARD IN MY SEAT. THIS HAS CAUSED ME SOME NEAR ACCIDENTS SINCE I WAS UNABLE TO EASILY TURN AROUND AND LOOK BEHIND ME AS I AM MERGING ONTO HIGHWAYS. AT TIMES, I WAS FORCED TO UNLATCH THE SEAT BELT WHILE DRIVING BECAUSE IT BECOMES SO TIGHT ACROSS MY CHEST AND SHOULDER. THIS HAPPENS DURING ACCELERATION, DECELERATION, NORMAL DRIVING, AT ANY TIME, SO I NEVER KNOW WHEN THIS IS GOING TO LOCK UP. PLEASE ADVISE IF THERE IS ANY SIMILAR COMPLAINT/CONCERN FROM ANOTHER OWNER. I AM GOING TO PUT TODAY'S DATE IN THE INCIDENT DATE SINCE THIS OCCURS WITHOUT WARNING AND HAS OCCURRED NUMEROUS TIMES ALREADY. I AM NOT REALLY AT ALL PLEASED WITH THIS CAR'S PERFORMANCE. THE LIGHTWEIGHT LOCKING LATCH PLATE OF AN OUTBOARD REAR SEAT BELT BROKE, DURING OR FOLLOWING THE PROPER INSTALLATION OF A CHILD SAFETY SEAT. (I AM A NHTSA CERTIFIED CHILD PASSENGER SAFETY TECHNICIAN, SO I CAN SAY WITH ALL CERTAINTY THAT THE INSTALLATION WAS CORRECT, BASED ON THE VEHICLE MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND THE CAR SEAT MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS.) THE CONSEQUENCES ARE THAT THE LOCKING MECHANISM OF THE LATCH PLATE BROKE, AND THE CAR SEAT WOULD NOT BE PROPERLY SECURED IF THE VEHICLE MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS WERE FOLLOWED. ALSO, THE VEHICLE IS NOT IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE LOCK ABILITY PROVISION OF FMVSS 208 (TITLE 49 CFR, SECTION 571.208), WHEN THE SEAT BELT LOSES ITS LOCKABILITY THOUGH REGULAR USE. *NM
HORN DOES NOT WORK. PROBLEM STARTED OUT INTERMITTENTLY. NOW IT SEEMS TO BE PERMANENT. VERY INCONVENIENT. IT MAKES ME WONDER IF THE AIR BAGS EVEN WORK.*AK

THE ABOVE INFORMATION IS FOR A SECOND AND MORE SERIOUS ACCIDENT ON THE SAME TYPE AND MODEL OF VEHICLE IN MY FLEET. I'M CONCERNED THAT THIS VEHICLE'S AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AND MY DEALER DIDN'T INDICATE ANY KNOWN PROBLEMS WITH THIS MODEL AND YEAR. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTIFICATION FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V400000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) AND BELIEVED THE CRASH WAS RELATED TO THE RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
DRIVERS SHOULDER BELT TIGHTENS WITH ANY MOVEMENT AND THE CONSUMER HAS TO RELEASE THE BELT FROM THE BUCKLE TO GET ANY RELIEF. 3 WEEKS AGO SEAT BELT WAS REPLACED TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM BUT THIS HAS NOT COMPLETELY REMEDIED THE PROBLEM. DEALER WAS NOTIFIED. *AK *NLM
