ON MAY 13, 2018 AT APROX 7:30AM, I WAS TRAVELING ON CT-9 HIGHWAY AT 55MPH PREPARING TO EXIT THE HIGHWAY WHEN SUDDENLY CAR ALERT CHIMES CAME ON AND WARNING MESSAGE ABOUT "SERVICE POWER STEERING"AND I LOST POWER STEERING AS I WAS EXITING. I HAD DIFFICULTY MAKING A LEFT TURN AT THE END OF THE EXIT AND PULLED OVER TO INVESTIGATE. SHUT CAR OFF AND INSPECTED UNDER HOOD/BELTS, EVERYTHING OK. RESTARTED CAR AND MESSAGE WENT AWAY AND CAR HANDLED NORMALLY AGAIN.
WHEN DRIVING YOU LOSE POWER STEERING AND CANT TURN THE WHEEL THEY HAVE THIS RECAL ON SOME OF THE MALIBU CARS
PASSENGER AIR BAG SERVICE LIGHT COMES ON. PASSENGER AIR BAG IS OFF WHEN THIS IS NOTED BY THE VEHICLE'S SERVICE LIGHT COMES ON.
BODY CONTROL MODULE CAUSING BRAKING LIGHTS, TURN SIGNALS NOT TO FUNCTION WHILE IN MOTION AND STATIONARY. THREE TIMES I'VE HAD THE BULBS REPAIRED AND WIRING HARNESS CHECKED. GIVEN THAT TE FRONT END NEEDS TO BE PULLED JUST TO CHANGE THE BULBS, THIS HAS LED TO SOME HIGH REPAIR BILLS. MY UNDERSTANDING IS THAT 2004-2014 MALIBU HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR THIS PROBLEM. CHEVY RECALL #13036 NHTSA CAMPAIGN #14V252000. FOR WHATEVER REASON MY VEHICLE IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. IT SHOULD BE, AND BEFORE MY DAUGHTER IS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT DUE TO THIS.
POWER STEERING WHEN OUT WHILE TRYING TO MAKE A TURN WITHOUT ANY WARNING. TURNING BECAME EXTREMELY HARD AND THIS WOULD HAPPEN RANDOMLY AT 1ST. WITHIN THE NEXT COUPLE OF WEEKS IT WOULD HAPPEN OVER AND OVER AGAIN. I TOOK IT TO THE MECHANIC AND MY MECHANIC SAID THAT IT WAS THE STEERING WHEEL TORQUE SENSOR. I FEEL THIS IS AN EXTREMELY EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND MATTER THAT SHOULD BE TAKEN CARE OF. IF I DIDN'T HAVE 2 HANDS ON THE WHEEL WHILE I WAS TURNING 1ST TIME IT HAPPENED, IT COULD EASLY PULLED THE OTHER WAY IN CRASHED INTO A CAR. THANK GOD MY ELDERLY MOTHER IN LAW WASN'T DRIVING BECAUSE SHE WOULDN'T OF BEEN ABLE TO TURN THE WHEELS WITH OUT THE POWER STEERING. NHTSA SAYS IT DOES HAVE A RECALL ON THIS ISSUE WITH THE 09 CHEVY MALIBU BUT IT DOESN'T APPEAR WITH MY VIN.
I HAVE HAD MULTIPLE IGNITION SWITCH FAILURES RESULTING IN LOSS OF AIRBAG SYSTEMS, THE ENGINE NOT SHUTTING OFF WHEN THE KEY IS REMOVED, THE BATTERY DYING, A BRAND NEW BATTERY STARTED SMOKING AND LEAKING ACID DUE TO A 3RD FAULTY IGNITION SWITCH. THE ISSUE CAN BE SPOTTY BUT INDEFINITELY BECOMES MORE PREVALENT AS WHATEVER SHORT IN THE SWITCH GETS WORSE. THIS IS ALSO ACROSS MULTIPLE SWITCH MANUFACTURERS INCLUDING BWD, AC DELCO AND BMG. I HAVE ALSO NOTICED THAT THE AIRBAG SYSTEM MAY REMAIN ON EVEN WITH THE VEHICLE OFF AND, THE BATTERY DRAINAGE IS MUCH MORE PREVALENT WHEN THE AIRBAG STAYS EITHER IN THE ON OR OFF POSITION WITH THE VEHICLE OFF. THE OTHER ISSUE THIS CAUSES IS THE AIRBAG SYSTEM TO COMPLETELY GO OFF LINE IN WHICH CASE THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT WILL GO OFF BUT THIS USUALLY RESOLVES ITSELF AFTER 2 TO 10 STARTS.
CAR STALLED GOING UP A HILL AND TURNING LEFT. DANGEROUS IN TRAFFIC. DIFFICULT TO STEER OFF THE ROAD. NOW, UNRELIABLE ABILITY TO START THE CAR. CHUGGING GOING UP A HILL HAPPENED BOTH ON A CITY STREET AS WELL AS HIGH SPEED HIGHWAY. TURNING LEFT STALLING OCCURRED ON A CITY STREET AS WELL AS ON AN OFF RAMP FROM HIGHWAY TO CITY STREET.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE CONTACT HEARD AN ABNORMAL NOISE WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL WAS TURNED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO LUMBERTON CHEVROLET BUICK GMC CADILLAC (500 LINKHAW ROAD, LUMBERTON, NC 28358). THE DEALER NOTICED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL WAS LOOSE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. IT WAS UNKNOWN IF THE VEHICLE WAS OFFICIALLY DIAGNOSED BY THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 146,000.
CAR LOSS OF POWER, AND STEERING ASSIST, ENGINE STOPS. MAY START AFTER A MINUTE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE DOOR WOULD INTERMITTENTLY FAIL TO OPEN FROM INSIDE OR OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO DETERMINE THE FAILURE OF THE DOOR HANDLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 62,000.
LOST THE 35R GEARS IN MY 6T45 TRANSMISSION JUST AS THE 6T70 & 6T75 TRANSMISSION WHICH ARE UNDER TSB 14404 BUT AS GM NOTED IT'S ONLY FOR THE V6 ENGINES (HIGH OUTPUT) AND NOT THE 2.4L ENGINES. SAME ISSUE BUT NOT COVERED. I ONLY HAVE 84, 000MILES ON THE CAR, ENGINE RUNS GREAT, BODY IS IN GREAT SHAPE JUST HAVE A BAD TRANSMISSION. LOOKING TO GET A TSB TO COVER THE 6T40 & 6T45 TRANSMISSIONS. CALLED GM AND THEY WILL DO NOTHING.
FUEL ODOR COMING FROM REAR OF VEHICLE, ODOR IN GARAGE AFTER VEHICLE HAS BEEN PARKED, DAMPNESS ON TOP OF FUEL TANK. FUEL LEAK FROM TOP OF FUEL TANK.
THE POWER STEERING LIGHT CAME ON WHILE DRIVING ON I-57 EXPRESSWAY AT A SPEED OF 55 MPH AND I LOST MY POWER STEERING. WHEN I STOPED THE CAR AND RESTARTED IT 30 MINUTES LATER THE WARNING WAS GONE AND MY POWER STEERING WORKED. I'M NOW AFRAID TO DRIVE MY CAR ON THE EXPRESSWAY AFTER READING ABOUT THIS SAME PROBLEM ON A CHEVY MALIBU FORUM.
2009 CHEVY MALIBU LS POWER STEERING WHEEL HARD TO STEER, TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT ONI HAVE A 4 CYLINDER 2.4
I HAVE A 2009 CHEVY MALIBU AND THE PASSENGER LOW BEAM LIGHT KEEPS GOING OUT EVERY 3-4 MONTHS. I HAVE CHANGED THE BULBS 5 TIMES NOW AND RECENTLY CHANGED THE HARNESS AND STILL WENT OUT 3 MONTHS LATER. IT IS STARTING TO COST ME A LOT OF MONEY AND KEEPS HAPPENING.
IN BOTH MOTION AS WELL AS STATIONARY THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT COMES ON AND LOSE POWER STEERING.
THIS HAS POPPED UP ON MY CAR 2 MONTHS AFTER I LEASED THE CAR AND THE PLACE I BOUGHT IT FROM SAYS ITS OK TO BE ON MY DASHBOARD AND I DO NOT BELIEVE THAT. IT SHOWS UP EVERYTIME I GO UP TO 35 OR MORE.
ONLY 90,000 MILES ON MY CAR AND JUST A FEW DAYS AGO THE POWER STEERING WOULD FAIL WHEN STARTING UP THE CAR AND I GET WARNINGS AND CHIMES SAYING POWER STEERING THEN ESC NOW DISABLED. THIS PROBLEM WOULD CORRECT ITSELF IF I TURNED OFF THE CAR THEN TURNED BACK ON AGAIN. A FEW DAYS LATER THAT NO LONGER WORKED TO GET THE POWER STEERING TO WORK/ACTIVATE. NOW I HAVE TO APPLY SLIGHT TURNING FORCE TO THE STEERING WHEEL WHILE STARTING THE CAR TO GET IT TO WORK. BUT NOW I HAVE A NEW ISSUE TO THIS PROBLEM AS OF TODAY THE POWER STEERING FAILS WHILE DRIVING THE CAR. I WAS CHANGING LANES AND THE POWER STEERING FAILED THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME VERY STIFF AND I ALMOST CRASHED INTO THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME BECAUSE I COULD NOT COMPLETE MY LANE CHANGE. IM NOW SCARED TO DRIVE MY CAR. I KEEP GOOD CARE OF MY CAR AND HAVE IT MAINTENENCED WELL. ITS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION AND THIS IS THE ONLY THING WRONG. I TRIED CALLING GM TO ASK IF THIS IS A RECALL ISSUE BECAUSE I FIND EVERYWHERE ONLINE THIS IS A MAJOR ISSUE WITH MY YEAR AND MAKE BUT GM ON THE PHONE SAID MY VIN HAS NO RECALL AND IM STUCK TO PAY FULL BILL TO FIX AND IS NOT A DEFECT OR GM PROBLEM. I DO NOT THINK THIS IS MY PROBLEM AND IS A DEFECT. I FEEL GM SHOULD FIX THIS. MY CAR STILL HAS 2 YEARS LEFT ON BANK LOAN TO PAY OFF. I CANNOT AFFORD TO FIX A MANUFACTURE DEFECT. I ALSO STRONGLY FEEL THIS IS A MAJOR SAFTEY ISSUE AS THIS CAN RESULT IN MAJOR CAR ACCIDENT. I DO NOT HAVE STRONG ARMS AND I CANNOT OPERATE MANUAL STEERING TO AVOID CRASH IF LOSS OF POWER STEERING ON HIGHWAY AT HIGH SPEED OR EVEN IN CITY AT SLOW SPEED.
I ALMOST HAD AN ACCIDENT DRIVING WHEN MY WHEEL LOCKED UP ON ME, NOW IT'S HARD FOR ME TO DRIVE...
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. TWENTY MINUTES LATER, THE TRACTION CONTROL AND SERVICE ESC WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT A MESSAGE APPEARED ON THE DASHBOARD INDICATING "ENGINE POWER REDUCED" AND THE SPEED DECREASED TO 20 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MORAN CHEVROLET CLINTON TWP (35500 GRATIOT AVE, CHARTER TWP OF CLINTON, MI 48035, (586) 307-5902) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FAULTY SOLENOID VALVE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 82,937.
I HAVE A 4 CYLINDER 2009 CHEVY MALIBU. I KNOW THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE ISSUE THAT I AM HAVING BUT NOT FOR MY SPECIFIC VEHICLE. MY POWER STEERING KEEPS GOING IN AND OUT AT RANDOM TIMES. SOMETIMES IF I SHUT THE CAR OFF AND TURN IT BACK ON IT WILL CORRECT ITSELF. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY MY VEHICLE WASN'T ON THE RECALL. MANY OTHER COMPLAINTS HAVE COME IN FOR THIS ISSUE AND MY TYPE OF VEHICLE. I WILL START THE CAR AND IT WILL FLASH POWRT STEERING ESC. THIS IS SO DANGEROUS! IT WENT OUT ON ME WITH MY 2 YOUNG CHILDREN IN THE CAR AND I COULDN'T CONTROL THE VEHICLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER'S SEAT HEATING SYSTEM FAILED, CAUSING THE FRONT DRIVER'S SEAT TO OVERHEAT AND CAUSE TWO BURNT HOLES. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACTS JACKET BURNED DUE TO THE FAILURE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES SUSTAINED. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 112,000.
THE SHIFT CABLE TO THE TRANSMISSION BECAME LOOSE WHILE VEHICLE WAS RUNNING. I WAS UNABLE TO SHIFT THE VEHICLE UNTIL THE CABLE WAS RECONNECTED BY HAND. THE VEHICLE HAS AN ISSUE WITH ACCELERATING ESPECIALLY WHEN TRYING TO GO HIGHWAY SPEEDS. IT CANT FLOW INTO TRAFFIC NORMALLY. THE CHECK ENGINE CODE IS P0420 FOR THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER.
THE POWER STEERING STOPPED WORKING WHILE DRIVING MAKING IT VERY DIFFICULT AND DANGEROUS TO TURN THE VEHICLE WHILE TURNING, ESPECIALLY AT LOW SPEED.
THE CAR KEEPS DYING AND SHUTTING OFF. I HAVE REPLACED 2 NEW BATTERIES AND AN ALTERNATOR. WHEN I AM DRIVING THE CAR WILL EITHER JUST DIE OR START TO DIE AND ALL OF THE LIGHTS COME ON, POWER STEERING, ESC EMERGENCY BRAKE ALL OF THEM AND THEN THE CAR EVENTUALLY DIES.
THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVING GREAT THEN ONE DAY WHILE DRIVING THE ESC LIGHT AND POWER STEERING LIGHT CAME ON AND THE POWER STEERING HAD GONE OUT. LUCKY FOR ME I MADE IT TO MY PARKING GARAGE.
JUST BOUGHT THE CAR A FEW WEEKS AGO AND OUT OF NOWHERE THE POWER STEERING ESC LIGHT POPS ON. I DIDN'T EVER HIT POT HOLES OR ANYTHING JUST A BASIC HOME TO WORK CAR.
TAKATA RECAL, MY CARS LOCK BUTTON STOPPED WORKING AND MY KEY PADS AS WELL AS MY HEADLIGHTS GO OUT AND COME BACK ON ON THEIR OWN. MY CAR WAS IN MY DRIVEWAY AND ALL THIS HAPPENED A FEW WEEKS OF EACHOTHER. WENT TO CHANGE MY BULB AND OLD BULB CAME BACK ON. AS WELL AS WHEN ALL MY ELECTRICAL WENT BAD IT WAS SITTING IN MY DRIVEWAY ALL NIGHT AND BATTERY QUIT WORKING.
WHILE DRIVING THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING STOPS WORKING. ESC WARNING LIGHT GOES ON. MAY HAPPEN MULTIPLE TIMES PER DRIVE. RESETS WHEN CAR TURNED OFF, BUT RECURRS.
LOST POWER STEERING WHEN ATTEMPTING TO LEAVE THE DRIVEWAY. LOW SPEED. ELECTRIC POWER STEERING UNIT FAILED. I HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY INFORMATION OR RECALL NOTICE FOR THIS PROBLEM. I HAVE PARKED THE CAR UNTIL I DETERMINE HOW BEST TO PROCEED WITH REPAIRS.

THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVING GREAT THEN ONE DAY WHILE DRIVING THE ESC LIGHT AND POWER STEERING LIGHT CAME ON AND THE POWER STEERING HAD GONE OUT.
HAVE LOST ALL POWER STEERING, SENSOR IS MESSED UP, BRAKES ARE BARELY WORKING, WHY WASN'T A RECALL ISSUED FOR ALL 2009 MALIBUS? THIS IS BEYOND DANGEROUS.
ELECTRICAL STEERING SYSTEM OPERATED SPORADICALLY FOR SEVERAL WEEKS, THEN QUIT FUNCTIONING COMPLETELY. HAD TO DRIVE HOME WITH SIGNIFICANT PHYSICAL EFFORT TO STEER, WORSE THAN ANY MANUAL STEERING I'VE EVER OPERATED. BEEN PARKED IN DRIVEWAY EVER SINCE. GM LISTS THIS AS A RECALL ITEM (#14V153000) FOR SEVERAL MALIBU MODELS, BUT MY VIN WASN'T INCLUDED. OBVIOUSLY AN ERROR, BUT I'M GETTING NO HELP.
I HAVE HAD THE CAR SERVICED 3 TIMES FOR THE HEADLIGHTS GOING OUT ON ME. I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK AT 930PM AND NOTICED MY LIGHTS WERE NOT ON. IT WAS PITCH BLACK BECAUSE I HAVE TO GO THROUGH THE PARK TO GET HOME. I ALMOST HIT THE CURB BECAUSE I COULD NOT SEE. I PANICKED BUT I TRIED THE BRIGHTS AND THEY WORKED SO I USED THEM TO GET HOME. THE GREENWOOD CHEVROLET REPLACED THE HEAD LIGHT BULBS 3 TIMES BUT IT HAS TO BE ELECTRICAL BEING THAT IT WENT OUT 3 TIMES IN 2 MONTHS I HAVEN'T EVEN HAD THE CAR A YEAR! ON MY WAY HOME FROM THE GROCERY STORE ON 3/6/2018 I ALMOST WRECKED BECAUSE THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT ON THE VEHICLE. I ATTEMPTED TO TURN AND ALMOST RAN INTO THE BACK OF THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME. THE SUSPENSION DOESN'T WORK EITHER. AS OF TODAY I CANNOT DRIVE AT NIGHT BECAUSE I DO NOT HAVE ANY HEAD LIGHTS (THAT'S BEEN FOR 3 MONTHS) I CANNOT DRIVE THE CAR NOW BECAUSE I DO NOT HAVE POWER STEERING TO DRIVE THE CAR. I'M MAKING PAYMENTS ON A DEATH TRAP BECAUSE I ALMOST WRECKED TWICE THANK GOODNESS GOD WAS WITH ME.
POWER STEERING FAILED WHILE ON INTERSTATE, AND CAUSED THE ESC AND TRACTION TO TURN OFF AS WELL. CRUISE CONTROL CONTINUES TO FUNCTION. SHUTTING VEHICLE COMPLETELY DOWN AND STARTING THE VEHICLE AGAIN RESETS EVERYTHING.
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE, THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT WITHOUT ANY CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. I WAS ABLE TO SLOW MY SPEED AND COME TO A COMPLETE STOP TO TURN THE POWER OFF AND BACK ON WHICH SEEMED TO RESET THE ESC. A FEW DAYS LATER, IT OCCURED A SECOND TIME ON A ROAD AT SLOWER SPEEDS BUT REQUIRED A SIMILAR REACTION TO CORRECT THE ISSUE. THE POWER STEERING HAS ALSO WENT OUT DURING IGNITION WHICH REQUIRED ME TO TURN THE VEHICLE OFF AND BACK ON BEFORE DRIVING THE VEHICLE.
TAKATA RECALL THE AIRBAG LIGHT HAS COME ON AND STAYS ON SOMETHING WITH THE STEERING, WHEELS, DRIVETRAIN, AND POSSIBLY BCM. A LOT OF VIBRATION WHEN DRIVING AND BRAKING. BECOMING SUCH AN ISSUE TO THE POINT I FEAR TO HAVE MY 11 MONTH OLD CHILD IN IT.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE WARNING INDICATORS ONLY ILLUMINATED ON THE VEHICLE AFTER THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO TWO DIFFERENT INDEPENDENT MECHANICS WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE CONTACT SPOKE WITH DUBLIN CHEVROLET GMC BUICK (2042 VETERANS BLVD, DUBLIN, GA 31021, 478-246-4916) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
POWER STEERING GOES OUT AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT COMES ON AT INTERMITTENT TIMES. CAN BE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, OR MAKING TURNS AND THE POWER STEERING WILL GO OUT. THIS IS A 2009 MALIBU WITH THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING. VERY UNSAFE TO DRIVE. IF CAR IS TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED SOMETIMES IT WILL COME BACK ON AND OTHER TIMES IT WILL JUST STAY IN MANUAL STEERING. CAR HAS RIGHT ABOUT 200,000 MILES ON IT. IT IS A 4-CYLINDER.
LOST STEERING WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT 70 MPH. SERVICE ESC AND POWER STEERING MESSAGE CAME ON.
NO STEERING AT ALL. GOT IN THIS MORNING TO GO TO WORK AND CAN'T TURN THE WHEEL LEFT OR RIGHT. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS. I CAN'T AFFORD THIS REPAIR. OTHERS ONLINE HAVE STATED IT'S BETWEEN $700 - $1,000 TO FIX. GM PLEASE EXTEND MY WARRANTY TO FIX THIS. I ONLY HAVE 108,000 MILES ON THE CAR AND NEED THIS CAR TO LAST ME AT LEAST TWO MORE YEARS THROUGH COLLEGE
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY, THE TRANSMISSION FAILED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REVERSE GEAR COULD NOT BE ENGAGED AND THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD ONLY PERFORM IN FIRST AND SECOND GEAR. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE BEYOND 20 MPH. BURT WATSON CHEVROLET IN FREELAND, MICHIGAN WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND DIAGNOSED THAT THE FLEX PLATE WITHIN THE TRANSMISSION HAD FAILED. IN ADDITION, THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 94,700.
CHEVROLET MALIBU LT 2009 4 CYLINDER ESCOFF ELECTRIC POWER STEERING GOES OUT ON ITS OWN. SEEMS TO BE A SENSORY ISSUE. IF IT DOES GO OUT, IT IS USUALLY RIGHT AFTER STARTING THE IGNITION. SHUTTING THE VEHICLE DOWN AND STARTING IT AGAIN HAS TAKE CARE OF THIS PROBLEM OVER THE LAST YEAR. OVER THE PAST FEW WEEKS, ESC TURNS ITSELF OFF AND LOCKS POWER STEERING ON ITS OWN WHILE I'M DRIVING. IT DOESN'T SEEM TO MATTER IF I'M GOING 75 ON THE HIGHWAY OR 35 ON A BEND, OR FROM STATIONARY AT A LIGHT MOVING THROUGH THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION TO MAKE A LEFT TURN. ONLY THING I'VE NOTICED IS THE HEIGHTENED FREQUENCY OF THE ISSUE IN COLD TEMPERATURES AND AGAIN IN MOIST CONDITIONS SUCH AS A RAINY DAY. ALTHOUGH IT STILL HAPPENS IN ALL WEATHER. I WORK IN TRANSPORTING CHILDREN AND THIS HAS NEARLY GOTTEN THEM KILLED AND I'VE PUT MYSELF IN THE SAME SITUATION SEVERAL TIMES OVER THE LAST TWO WEEKS BECAUSE I CAN'T AFFORD TO HAVE A DEALERSHIP FIX THE ISSUE WITHOUT SHELLING OUT $800-$1200. NOT INCLUDING THE $80-$100 ABS SCAN THEY MUST CHARGE YOU FIRSTHAND. OTHER VARIANTS OF THE CHEVROLET MALIBU 2009 HAVE RELEASED A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM EXACTLY, AND FOR SOME REASON, MY VIN IS NOT INCLUDED ON THE RECALL, THOUGH SAME MAKE, MODEL, YEAR, AND LIFE-THREATENING PROBLEM THAT CAME BUNDLED WITH THE CAR STRAIGHT FROM THE MANUFACTURER. THIS IS MY DAILY DRIVER, I HAVE TOUGHED IT OUT MYSELF BECAUSE I STILL HAVE PLACES TO BE AND THINGS TO DO. I CAN'T WORK BECAUSE I REFUSE TO PUT THE LIFE OF ANY OF MY YOUTHFUL CLIENTS AT RISK. THIS STILL LEAVES OTHERS ON THE ROAD AND MYSELF AT RISK OF SERIOUS INJURY, MAJOR DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY, AND ONCE MORE, DEATH!!! STEERING WHEEL JERKING WHILE IN PARK AND WHILE DRIVING TO THE POINT YOU HAD TO PUT A LOT OF STRENGTH INTO KEEP CAR IN LANE, SERVICE ESC: POWER STEERING WARNING LIGHT CHIMES AND COMES ON WHILE DRIVING, STEERING WHEEL LOCKS UP WHILE TRYING TO PULL OVER ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I TOOK THE CAR TO KIPO CHEVROLET, THE CODES THAT CAME UP WERE C0545(00), U0121, AND C0661. KIPO CHEVROLET STATED TORQUE SENSOR READINGS WERE SURGING AROUND NOT HOLDING STEADY, WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE TORQUE SENSOR AND RE-EVALUATE CONCERN.
PASSENGER SIDE HEADLIGHT WIRE HARNESS KEEPS GOING BAD. LIGHTBULB IS GOOD. 3RD ONE WITHIN A YEAR AND A HALF.
MY POWER STEERING LIGHT IS ON IN MY CAR. THE POWER STEERING IS ACTING UP. I HAVE THE ELECTRONIC POWERING STEERING SYSTEM ON MY MALIBU THAT WAS RECALLED DUE TO MALFUNCTIONING. MY CAR IS CURRENTLY EXPERIENCING THIS PROBLEM. CHEVY RECALLED OVER 1.3 MILLION VEHICLES FOR THIS SAME PROBLEM. MY VIN # IS APPARENTLY NOT LISTED ON THE RECALL LIST BUT I STILL HAVE THE PROBLEM. I WOULD LIKE CHEVY TO HAVE TO FIX THIS. MY STEERING POWER STEERING IS ACTING UP AND I FEEL THIS IS DANGEROUS.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO PARKWAY CHEVROLET AT 25500 TX-249, TOMBALL, TX 77375 WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TORQUE SENSOR ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V153000 (STEERING). THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 218,000.
POWER STEERING COMES AND GOES AS VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. THIS HAPPENS WHETHER IN TOWN OR ON THE HIGHWAY STRAIGHT OR GOING INTO A TURN.
I EXPERIENCED SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER STEERING WHILE DRIVING ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. THE DRIVER INFORMATION CENTER FLASHES A WARNING REGARDING THE LOSS OF POWER STEERING AND ALSO TRACTION CONTROL. THERE IS NO POWER STEERING UNTIL THE CAR IS TURNED OFF AND RE-STARTED. THIS HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING ON SURFACE ROADS AND ALSO ON THE EXPRESSWAY DRIVING AT OVER 50 MPH. IT HAS HAPPENED IN THE PROCESS OF TURNING AT LOW SPEEDS AND ALSO WHILE DRIVING STRAIGHT AT HIGHER SPEEDS. STEERING THE CAR IS VERY DIFFICULT WHEN THE POWER STEERING IS LOST.
