THE REAR DOOR LOCK ACTUATORS( BOTH DOORS ) STOPPED FUNCTIONING WITHIN SEVERAL MONTHS OF EACH OTHER. THIS MADE IT SUCH THAT THE REAR DOORS COULD NOT BE OPENED WITHOUT MANUALLY LIFTING THE LOCK BUTTON FROM INSIDE THE VEHICLE. WHEN A CHILD WAS IN A CAR SEAT THE ONLY WAY TO OPEN THE REAR DOOR WAS TO GET BACK IN THE CAR, PUT THE KEY IN THE IGNITION, TURN IT TO THE ACCESSORY, LOWER THE REAR WINDOW, GET OUT OF THE CAR AND REACH IN TO PULL UP THE LOCK BUTTON. FORTUNATELY WE NEVER HAD AN EMERGENCY SITUATION WHERE THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A CRITICAL LIFE THREATENING PROBLEM. WE HAVE HAD THE ACTUATORS REPLACED ( AT SIGNIFICANT EXPENSE ). MY CONCERN IS MANY INDIVIDUALS, PROBABLY CAN NOT AFFORD THE COST AND WOULD FORGO THE REPAIR, THUS LEAVING THE PROBLEM AND ITS POSSIBLE CONSEQUENCES THERE. *TR

WHILE MAKING A LEFT TURN AT LESS THAN 20MPH, VEHICLE LOST TRACTION, CAUSING CAR TO SKID AND LEAVE ROADWAY, AND SUBSEQUENTLY HIT A CEMENT CULVERT. EARLIER THE SAME WEEK, THE REAR BRAKE LIGHTS WERE INTERMITTENTLY ILLUMINATING WHEN THE BRAKES WERE NOT BEING APPLIED. VEHICLE REQUIRED TOWING AND REPAIRS. STRONG FUEL SMELL FROM UNDER CAR WHEN PARKED. NO VISUAL SIGNS OF GAS LEAKAGE, BUT VAPORS ARE VERY STRONG AND RESULTED IN FEELING LIGHT HEADED. LEFT CAR PARKED OUTSIDE GARAGE FOR THE NIGHT AND WILL TAKE TO THE DEALER. *TR

THE FRONT AND REAR PASSENGER DOOR LOCKS HAVE INTERMITTENTLY LOCKED AND UNLOCKED UNTIL AUGUST 3, 2014 WHEN BOTH DOOR LOCKS WOULD NOT LOCK OR UNLOCK USING THE KEY FOB OR THE LOCK/UNLOCK SWITCH ON EITHER DOOR. THE FRONT AND REAR DRIVER'S SIDE DOORS HAVE NOT EXHIBITED THIS PROBLEM. *TR
I AM AN OWNER OF AN CHEVY MALIBU 2009 WITH ONLY 42,000 MILES ON IT. I TOOK MY CAR IN FOR A SIMPLE OIL CHANGE AND THE SERVICE TECH CAME OUT TO ME WITH A STORY THAT MY STEERING GEAR/RACK/PINION WAS BAD AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. FOR A TOTAL OF 1,028.07. MY JAW NEARLY DROPPED TO THE FLOOR. I COULD HARDLY BELIEVE THAT A CAR THAT I HAVE ONLY OWNED LESS THAN A YEAR WOULD NEED SOMETHING SO COSTLY. I DID NOT BUY SERVICE PLAN CAUSE I COULD NOT AFFORD THE EXTRA AMOUNT OF MONEY TO GIVE TO CHEVY. IT AMAZES ME THAT AFTER ALL THIS AND READING FROM OTHERS HERE THAT NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE TO CORRECT THE STEERING ISSUES THAT CHEVY HAS. IT AMAZES ME EVEN MORE THAT THEY DO NOT FEEL THAT THIS IS A MECHANICAL ISSUE THAT IS THERE FAULT TO REPAIR AND IN RETURN EXPECTS THE OWNERS TO PAY FOR THEIR SCREW UP. IF THEY DO NOT RECALL OR FIX THE STEERING ISSUES WITH CHEVY MALIBU MODELS THEY WILL BE SUED OR FURTHER MORE LOOSE THOUSANDS OF CUSTOMERS. I HAVE OWNED SEVERAL VEHICLES IN THE PAST AND NEVER HAD TO HAVE THIS TYPE OF THIS EXPENSE TO REPAIR A VEHICLE SPECIALLY STEERING PROBLEMS. IF CHEVY REALLY DOES A FULL INSPECTION ON VEHICLE BEFORE SELLING USED CARS I FEEL THAT THIS ISSUE WOULD HAVE BEEN CAUGHT. I WILL BE TAKING FURTHER ACTION ON THIS CASE. RECENTLY, I HAD MY 8 YEAR OLD GRANDSON STRAPPED IN THE BACK SEAT, RIGHT SIDE, WITH HIS SEAT BELT ON, IN MY CAR. WHEN I STOPPED AND PARKED THE CAR AND TURNED THE CAR OFF, ALL THE DOORS AUTOMATICALLY UNLOCKED NORMALLY EXCEPT THE ONE IN THE BACK WHERE MY GRANDSON WAS SITTING. HE TRIED OPENING THE DOOR FROM THE INSIDE AND IT WOULD NOT OPEN. I TRIED OPENING IT FROM THE OUTSIDE, AND IT WOULD NOT OPEN. I TRIED THE BUTTON ON THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR, AND THE DOOR STILL WOULD NOT OPEN. I TRIED USING THE REMOTE CONTROL, AND IT STILL WOULD NOT OPEN. THE ONLY WAY I COULD GET THE DOOR OPEN WAS BY CRAWLING ACROSS THE BACK SEAT AND OPENING THE LOCK BY HAND BY PULLING UP ON THE MANUAL DOOR LOCK. THERE IS A CHILD SAFETY LOCK ON THE DOOR PANEL BUT IT WAS IN THE OFF POSITION. THIS VEHICLE HAS A DIGITAL READ OUT ON THE DASHBOARD TELLING YOU THE TIRE PRESSURE, AMOUNT OF MILEAGE LEFT ON THE OIL CHANGE, MILES PER GALLON, AND VARIOUS OTHER INFORMATION, BUT NOTHING INDICATING THAT ONE OF THE DOORS WILL NOT OPEN. IT IS MY OPINION THAT THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SAFETY ISSUE IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT OR FIRE. IN A SERIOUS SITUATION OF LIFE OR DEATH, IT MAY BE IMPOSSIBLE TO GET THE BACK DOOR OPEN IF THE DOOR WILL NOT OPEN AUTOMATICALLY, USING THE BUTTON ON THE DRIVERS DOOR, OR WITH THE REMOTE CONTROL. THERE IS NO WAY TO KNOW THE DOOR WILL NOT OPEN SINCE THERE IS NO WARNING ON THE DIGITAL PANEL. I HAVE NO IDEA HOW LONG THE LOCK HAD NOT BEEN OPERATING PROPERLY SINCE THERE IS SELDOM ANYONE IN THE BACK SEAT NEEDING TO EXIT VIA THAT DOOR. I FEEL THIS IS A SERIOUS DEFECT IN THIS AUTOMOBILE AND THE NTSB NEEDS TO INVESTIGATE AND DETERMINE WHETHER THE AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCKS ON THIS CAR ARE UNSAFE AND UNABLE TO OPEN, EXCEPT MANUALLY, IN AN EMERGENCY, AND REQUIRE SOME SORT OF WARNING WHEN THE AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCKS ARE NOT WORKING PROPERLY. *TR

THE DECELERATION FAILURE BEGAN ONE WEEK AGO AND THE ACCELERATION HESITATION BEGAN TWO MONTHS AGO. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 93,000.

I WAS TRYING TO ACCELERATE TO GO ONTO THE HIGH WAY AND MY CAR WOULD NOT GO, THERE WAS A TRUCK BEHIND BE AND HE JUST MISSED ME AND MY FAMILY. TOOK THE CAR TO RODGERS CHEVROLET AND THEY SAID THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I REMEMBER COMPLAINING ABOUT MY CAR NOT WANTING TO ACCELERATE BEFORE I THINK IT WAS TO GORDON CHEVROLET. I HAD TO DISH OUT $2,500 THAT I DID NOT HAVE, I ALSO HAD TO REPLACE MY TIE ROD, I THINK GM SHOULD HAVE STOOD BY THEIR PRODUCT AND REPLACED THIS UNDER WARRANTY. LEAVING MY SUBDIVISION TRYING TO MAKE A LEFT TURN WHEN I WAS HIT ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE PASSENGER DOOR, JUST SHY OF THE DRIVER'S DOOR. SIDE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THEREFORE, ONSTAR DID NOT CONTACT ME. 2009 MALIBU BEGAN HAVING ISSUES WHERE THE BAS LIGHT WOULD COME ON IN ERROR. A RECALL HAS SINCE BEEN PUT OUT FOR THIS. AROUND THIS SAME TIME, THE CAR BEGAN HAVING BLINKER ISSUES. THE RIGHT BLINKER WOULD NOT TURN OFF AFTER A TURN AND THE LEFT BLINKER WOULD NOT STAY ON WITHOUT BEING HELD DOWN. *TR
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY BETWEEN 70 & 75 MPH. I HEARD BRAKES SCREECHING BEHIND ME. I THEN REALIZED THAT MY CRUZ HAD ALSO WENT OFF. I KNEW THAT MY BRAKE LIGHTS HAD COME ON FOR NO REASON AGAIN AS THEY HAD IN THE PAST. I WAS SURE CARS WERE GOING TO START REAR ENDING EACH OTHER BECAUSE THEY THOUGHT I HAD SLAMMED ON MY BRAKES. WHEN THIS IS OCCURRING WITH MY VEHICLE THE BRAKE LIGHTS ARE OFF WHEN I'M STOPPED AT A LIGHT OR A STOP SIGN AND THE BRAKE LIGHTS COME ON WHEN I TAKE MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKES. THE CAR WILL JERK LIKE IT IS TRYING TO STALL. THE RPM'S WILL SURGE TO 4000 WHILE AT THE SAME TIME THE CAR IS SLOWING DOWN. THE CRUZ WILL NOT ENGAGE WHEN THE BRAKE LIGHTS ARE ON. THE DOOR LOCKS BEGAN LOCKING AND UNLOCKING WHILE VEHICLE WAS RUNNING AND IN PARK. AFTER TURNING IGNITION OFF AND THEN BACK ON, DOOR LOCKS CONTINUED LOCKING AND UNLOCKING WHILE DRIVING AS WELL. THEN, THE DOOR LOCK SWITCH ON DRIVER'S DOOR STOPPED WORKING. LAST TIME THIS ISSUE STARTED AND CONTINUED WITH KEY FOB NO LONGER WORKING, AND ONLY WAY TO LOCK DOORS WAS MANUALLY AND UNLOCK DRIVER'S DOOR WITH KEY AND MANUALLY UNLOCK REMAINING DOORS. DEALER REPLACED DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR AND KEY FOBS TO FIX PROBLEM. WHY IS THIS HAPPENING AGAIN AND WITHIN A FEW MONTHS OF ALREADY HAVING BEEN FIXED ONCE? IS THERE A RECALL FOR THIS? I DO NOT WANT TO PAY FOR SAME REPAIR REPEATEDLY. *TR
I HAD A LADY FOLLOW ME DOWN A 55MPH HIGHWAY THIS MORNING, INTO MY PARKING LOT AT WORK, TO TELL ME THAT ALL OF MY BRAKE LIGHTS WERE ON AS I WAS DRIVING. ONCE I REACHED A SPEED OF 15MPH OR FASTER, MY BRAKE LIGHTS WOULD COME ON AND GO OFF WHEN I WOULD BRAKE. SHE SAID SHE FOLLOWED ME TO MAKE SURE I KNEW OF THE ISSUE AND THAT SHE ALMOST REAR-ENDED ME, BUT WAS MINDFUL THAT THERE WAS AN ISSUE WITH MY BRAKES SO FOLLOWED A BIT FURTHER BEHIND. I ALSO HAVE RECENTLY NOTICED THAT MY SERVICE TRACTION AND SERVICE ESC DISPLAY WARNINGS ARE ON MY DASHBOARD, AND MY CRUISE CONTROL DOES NOT WORK. IN RESEARCHING THIS ISSUE, THERE IS AN APPARENT RECALL ON THAT AFFECTS MY MAKE/MODEL YEAR VEHICLE. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS ADVISED (AFTER PROVIDING MY VIN) THAT MY CAR WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE RECALL. I AM WONDERING HOW IT IS DETERMINED WHAT VIN'S ARE COVERED AND WHICH ARE NOT. I AM CLEARLY WITH A SAFETY ISSUE ON MY CAR AND SOMEONE WAS KIND ENOUGH TO BE WATCHING OUT FOR ME THIS MORNING. *TR
2009 CHEVROLET MALIBU. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE FAULTY IGNITION SWITCH RECALL. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED ON ONE OF TWO OCCASIONS, HE LOST POWER TO THE VEHICLE. HE WAS ABLE TO RE-START THE VEHICLE. ON THE SECOND OCCASION, WHEN THE VEHICLE STALLED, HE SIDE SWIPED A PARKED VEHICLE, CAUSING DAMAGE TO BOTH VEHICLES.

WOKE ONE MORNING AND NOTICED A STRONG SMELL OF GAS COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. ALSO NOTICED THAT GAS IN THE TANK WAS AT A MUCH LOWER LEVEL THAN WHEN THE CAR WAS LAST OPERATED. I BELIEVED THAT GAS WAS LEAKING INTO THE TRUNK SO I TOOK THE CAR TO LOCAL SERVICE CENTER AT NISSAN BECAUSE THAT IS WHERE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. NISSAN SAID THAT FUEL PUMP IS CRACKED AND EMITTING GASOLINE VAPORS. TOOK VEHICLE TO THREE WAY CHEVROLET BECAUSE THEY ARE THE MANUFACTURER OF THE VEHICLE. I BELIEVED THAT THEY MAY HAVE MORE INFORMATION POSSIBLY CONCERNING A RECALL. ALEXANDER IRIZARRY (A SERVICE ADVISER) SAID THAT FUEL PUMPS FAIL ALL THE TIME AND HE DOESN'T KNOW WHY IT CRACKED. HE ALSO CLAIMED THAT WHEN PARTS FAIL IT IS NORMAL TO PUT THE DRIVER IN DANGER SUCH AS IF BRAKES GO OUT OR A TIRE BLOWS FROM POOR MAINTENANCE. ASKED FOR $1200 TO REPLACE THE PART. I AM CONCERNED THAT IF HE REPLACES IT WITH ANOTHER DEFECTIVE PART THAT LATER ON THE PUMP WILL FAIL AND EMIT GAS VAPORS LEADING TO A FIRE OR AN EXPLOSION. THREE WAY RELEASED THE CAR TO ME WITH NO WARNING OF NOT TO DRIVE IT. VEHICLE OPERATES FINE WITH NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. *TR

I HAVE A 2009 CHEVY MALIBU WITH A GAS LEAK. ONE DAY I PARKED THE VEHICLE IN THE GARAGE AND STARTED TO SMELL FUEL. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL MECHANIC AND HE DETECTED THERE WAS A GAS LEAK THAT HAD SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE FUEL PUMP WHICH HE SAID WOULD COST $400. I BELIEVE THIS IS SOMETHING THAT SHOULD BE A RECALL. WHEN I WENT TO AUTOZONE TO CHECK PRICING FOR A FUEL PUMP THE SALESMAN SAID HE HAD RECEIVED MULTIPLE CALLS FROM CUSTOMER REQUESTING THE SAME PART. I DECIDED TO TAKE MY CAR HOME AND I WAS UNSURE WHAT WAS WRONG WITH IT. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP THE NEXT DAY WHERE THEY RAN A TEST ON IT. I WAS TOLD THE WAVE PLATE WAS BROKE IN MY TRANSMISSION. WOW AN 2009 WITH TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. I WAS TOLD THE WAVE PLATE THAT WAS USED FOR THE MALIBU'S WERE BAD. THEY REALLY SHOULD HAVE A RECALL FOR THE MALIBU'S THAT ARE HAVING TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS DUE TO POOR DESIGN USING THAT STYLE OF WAVE PLATE. *TR

AFTER THE REPAIRS WERE MADE, THE CONSUMER RECEIVED A RECALL LETTER. HOWEVER, THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE. GM INFORMED THE CONSUMER, THE REPAIRS WERE NOT COVERED BY THE RECALL.
