TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE TRAVELING 45 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOST ACCELERATION POWER. THE VEHICLE WAS MOVED TO THE SHOULDER WHERE IT WAS SHUT DOWN AND RESTARTED BUT TO NO AVAIL. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE ROLLED AWAY WHILE IN PARK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 09V073000 (POWER TRAIN). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
I WAS IN MY DRIVEWAY PREPARING FOR WINDSHIELD INSTALLATION. KEPT ON HEARING INTERMITTENT CLICKING. REALIZED IT WAS THE POWER DOOR LOCKS. THEY WERE NOT FULLY LOCKING OR UNLOCKING, ONLY ATTEMPTING TO. IT CONTINUED FOR A FEW DAYS THEN STOPPED FOR A FEW WEEKS. YESTERDAY WE WERE ON A 75 MILE DRIVE AND 75 MILES BACK WITH THE LOCKS INCESSANTLY GOING THROUGH THEIR INTERMITTENT RAPID CYCLING. I NEVER KNOW FOR CERTAIN IF MY DOORS ARE LOCKED OR NOT. BESIDES BEING EXTREMELY DISTRACTING AND IRRITATING WHILE DRIVING, THERE IS THE PRESENCE OF A SAFETY ISSUE. THERE ARE A LOT OF SCENARIOS THAT COULD BE PLAYED OUT. *TR
DRIVING ON A STRETCH OF HIGHWAY AT 55MPH, MY SERVICE TRACTION AND SERVICE ESC LIGHTS CAME ON. IMMEDIATELY, THERE WAS A LOSS OF POWER STEERING, BRAKING, AND THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO STALL. VEHICLES BEHIND ME STARTED BRAKING. UPON GUIDING MY VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, IT STALLED OUT. WHEN I WALKED TO THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE, I SAW THAT THE BRAKE LIGHTS WERE LOCKED IN THE ON POSITION, SO DRIVERS BEHIND ME WOULD HAVE PERCEIVED MY VEHICLE AS STOPPING. AFTER A FEW MINUTES I WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE, BUT IT STILL WAS VERY SLUGGISH AND THE BRAKE LIGHTS REMAINED ON. I CONTACTED A LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID TO BRING IT IN BECAUSE IT COULD BE CAUSED BY MANY FACTORS AND COULD COST THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TO DIAGNOSE AND CORRECT DEPENDING UPON THE ISSUE. I LIMPED MY VEHICLE TO A LOCAL GARAGE THAT TOLD ME THE SAME THING, BUT WAS ABLE TO NARROW THE ISSUE DOWN TO A FAULTY MAP SENSOR. MY VEHICLE HAD TO BE PUSHED INTO A SERVICE BAY BECAUSE IT NO LONGER WOULD RUN AT ALL. THE MAP SENSOR WAS REPLACED AND THE VEHICLE HAS RUN FINE. MY CONCERN IS THAT THERE ARE A LOT OF THESE ISSUES WITH BOTH MALIBU AND HHR OWNERS SINCE 2008 THRU 2011, YET IT HAS NOT BEEN ADDRESSED. LOSS OF STEERING, BRAKING, ACCELERATION AND LOCKED BRAKE LIGHTS ARE A SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
RECENTLY, I EXPERIENCED A FAILED DOOR LOCKING ACTUATOR IN MY 2009 CHEVY MALIBU WHILE DRIVING MY 2YR OLD TO DAYCARE. I WAS TURNING RIGHT OUT OF MY NEIGHBORHOOD, WHEN MY DOOR(DRIVER'S DOOR) SWUNG OPEN. I GRABBED IT AND TRIED SHUTTING, BUT THE LOCKING MECHANISM WAS LOCKED, SO IT WOULDN'T SHUT. I PULLED OVER AND HAD TO MANUALLY UNLOCK THE DOOR SO MY DOOR WOULD SHUT. I COULDN'T EVEN IMAGINE IF THIS SITUATION OCCURRED TO A DOOR IN THE BACKSEAT WITH MY DAUGHTER SITTING THERE IN HER CHILD SEAT. FAST FORWARD ONE WEEK, AND NOW 3 OF MY 4 LOCKING ACTUATORS ARE FAILED. I DID SOME RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET AND NOTICED THAT THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS FROM MALIBU OWNERS ABOUT THESE FAILED LOCKING ACTUATORS. I THEN STARTED TO WONDER IF THERE WAS A RECALL ON THIS. I CALLED GM AND THEY SAID THERE ISN'T A RECALL AND THAT IS JUST NORMAL PART FAILURE. NORMAL PART FAILURE?!?! I'VE HAD THE CAR FOR LESS THAN 4 YEARS AND HAVE ONLY PUT 45K MILES ON IT. IN MY OPINION, THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
I WAS DRIVING TO WORK APRIL 10TH & I WAS SIDE SWIPE BY AN 18 WHEELER DUMP TRUCK STARTING ON MY DRIVER SIDE PASSENGER DOOR. MY FRONT END WAS HIT BY THE NOSE OF THE DUMP TRUCK, I WAS SPUN 180 DEGREES SLAMMED INTO A SCHOOL BUS TO WHICH THE TRUCK SQUASHED ME UP AGAINST THE BUS DRAGGED ME UP THE Q BRIDGE LEAVING ME THERE WITH NO AIR BAGS DEPLOYED OR ONSTAR ALERT! MY CONCERN IS I HAVE FRONT & SIDE AIRBAGS & I AM NOT SURE WHY NONE OF THEM WENT OFF. MY CAR WAS TOWED AWAY & I WAS UNABLE TO DRIVE IT AWAY & IS NOW TOTALED! *TR
WHEN DRIVING MY 2009 MALIBU MY BRAKE LIGHTS WILL COME ON. WHEN TAPPING THE BRAKE THEY GO OFF, BUT WHEN I NEED TO USE THE BRAKE NO LIGHTS SHOW. WHEN THIS HAPPENS MY SERVICE ESC AND SERVICE TRACTION LIGHTS ALSO COME ON. IM GETTING VERY AGGRAVATED, I HAVE ONLY OWNED THIS CAR SINCE JUNE 2012, AND CONSTANTLY HAVING PROBLEMS. *TR
THIS IS A RECURRING PROBLEM, BEGINNING NEARLY 2 YEARS AGO. I HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE IN FOR REPAIRS SEVERAL TIMES, BUT THE LAST DOCUMENTABLE INCIDENT IS MARCH 9, 2013. ESC SERVICE LIGHT COMES ON, CRUISE CONTROL SHUTS DOWN, BRAKES LIGHTS ILLUMINATING WHEN THEY SHOULD NOT, AND NOT ILLUMINATING WHEN THEY SHOULD. THERE'S ALWAYS BEEN SOME "THING" THEY FIND WRONG, FROM RE-CALIBRATION OF THE ESC SYSTEM TO THIS LAST INCIDENT, WHERE THEY TOLD ME IT WAS THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH! I HAD JUST HAD THE VEHICLE IN TO HAVE A HEADLIGHT REPLACED THE PRIOR WEEKEND AND I NEVER NOTICED THE BRAKE LIGHTS NOT WORKING, AND THE DEALER THAT REPLACED THE HEADLIGHT NEVER MENTIONED IT EITHER. I'M THINKING THEY WOULD HAVE IF THEY COULD CHARGE ME TO FIX SOMETHING ADDITIONAL ON THE CAR. I JUST PAID $250 TO REPLACE WHAT I WAS TOLD WAS A BURNED OUT BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH ON MARCH 9TH, (PALMEN MOTORS, KENOSHA, WI), AND ITS ALREADY RECURRING. I HEARD PART OF POSSIBLE RECALL ON WNN ABC NEWS AND STARTED RESEARCHING AND ENDED UP AT YOUR SITE THIS MORNING. I WANT TO REPORT THIS. THERE'S NO TELLING HOW MANY DOLLARS HAVE BEEN PAID TO MECHANICS TO FIX UNNECESSARY REPAIRS BECAUSE OF THIS! I AM FURIOUS! I AM HOPING THAT IF THIS IS A RECALL, OR MADE ONE, I CAN AT LEAST GET SOME OF MY MONEY BACK! THANK YOU, *TR
THE BRAKE LIGHTS ON MY 2009 CHEVROLET MALIBU LTZ COME ON FOR NO REASON EVEN WHEN I REMOTE START MY VEHICLE AND THE BRAKE LIGHTS HAVE NEVER BEEN ENGAGED. WHEN I AM DRIVING MY BRAKE LIGHTS WILL STAY ON AND IF I TAP MY BRAKES THEY WILL GO OFF BUT 5 - 6 SECONDS LATER THEY WILL COME BACK ON AND STAY ON. WHEN I THEN NEED TO STOP AND APPLY MY BRAKES MY BRAKE LIGHTS WILL GO OFF ONCE I ENGAGE THE PEDAL BUT WILL NOT COME BACK ON UNLESS I SLAM ON MY BRAKES. IT SEEMS TO BE WORSE DURING THE SUMMER MONTHS OR WHEN IT RAINS. ALSO, WHEN I AM IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC AND MY BRAKE LIGHTS ARE HAVING THIS ISSUE ON MY DASHBOARD SERVICE LIGHTS BEGIN TO COME ON. MY CAR WITH FLASH "SERVICE ESC" THEN FLASH "SERVICE TRACTION". I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO MY DEALERSHIP ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS AND HAVE THE PAPERWORK THEY PROVIDE ME STATING THEY CANNOT DUPLICATE THE ISSUE. I AM CONCERNED BECAUSE I HAVE AN INFANT CHILD AND I TRAVEL A VERY CONGESTED INTERSTATE WITH HIM IN THE CAR EVERY DAY. I HAVE ON MANY OCCASIONS HEARD TIRES/BRAKES SCREECHING FROM THE VEHICLES BEHIND ME BECAUSE THEY HAVE NO WARNING I AM STOPPING. I FEAR THAT I AM GOING TO BE REAR ENDED EVERY DAY. I AM NOT SURE OF THE EXACT START DATE OF THE ISSUE BUT I KNOW THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR AT LEAST 50,000 MILES AND MY DEALERSHIP KEEPS STATING THEY CANNOT REPRODUCE THE ISSUE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL SERVICE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES FOR THE FAILURE. THE DEALER PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC, WHICH LOCATED SEVERAL FAILURE CODES HOWEVER, THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO IDENTIFY THE STABILITY CONTROL FAILURE CODE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 34,204 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 75,222.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR COULD NOT BE OPENED. THE CONTACT HAD TO PULL THE DOOR HANDLE SEVERAL TIMES IN BEFORE IT WOULD OPEN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED BUT PROVIDED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 54,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
HEATING ELEMENT OF HEATED SEAT FEATURE BURNED A HOLE COMPLETELY THROUGH THE FRONT OF THE DRIVER'S SEAT BACK. THE HOLE IS CENTERED IN THE LOWER LUMBAR AREA OF THE SEAT BACK. *TR
I PURCHASED A USED 2009 CHEVROLET MALIBU IN 2011. ON FEBRUARY 21, 2013, I TOOK MY CAR TO OURISMAN CHEVROLET IN MARLOW HEIGHTS, MD DUE TO A RECALL NOTICE RELATED TO THE TRANSMISSION. MY INVOICE SAYS THEY REPAIRED THE CABLE KIT. ON JULY 29, 2013 I PULLED INTO A SERVICE STATION FOR GAS IN NORTH CAROLINA. ALL PUMPS WERE TAKEN. I WAITED. A CAR PULLED OUT SO I PUT MY CAR IN REVERSE TO BACK UP IN ORDER TO GET TO THE PUMP. WHEN I TRIED TO PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE, THE GEAR SHIFT WOULD MOVE, HOWEVER, THE CAR REMAINED STUCK IN REVERSE. I HAD TO BACK UP TO THE SIDE OF THE GAS STATION TO MOVE OUT OF THE WAY. I PUT THE EMERGENCY BRAKE ON BECAUSE THE CAR WOULD NOT GO INTO PARK. I TURNED OFF THE IGNITION, THEN TRIED TO RESTART IT. THE CAR WOULD NOT START BECAUSE IS WAS NOT IN PARK. I CALLED MY BROTHER FOR HELP. HE NOTICED THE SHIFT CABLE HAD COME APART. HE USED A TWIST TIE, A WASHER, AND A RUBBER CAP THAT HE FOUND IN HIS VEHICLE TO REPAIR THE SHIFT CABLE SO THAT I COULD HOPEFULLY MAKE IT BACK HOME. IT WORKED.THE NEXT DAY I MADE AN APPOINTMENT (07/31/13) TO TAKE THE CAR BACK TO OURISMAN TO FIX THE CABLE. THAT INVOICE STATES THAT I NEED A SHIFTER CABLE. ACCORDING TO OURISMAN, THIS PART IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE INITIAL RECALL. THE SHIFT CABLE ADJUSTMENT CLIP BROKE OFF SOMEHOW. THE CABLE IS STILL INTACT. THAT'S WHY MY BROTHER WAS ABLE TO FIX IT ENOUGH TO GET ME BACK HOME. I WAS TOLD BY THE CUSTOMER SERVICE TECHNICIAN THAT THE PART BROKE DUE TO NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. IN THE PAST, I'VE OWNED A CHEVROLET CAVALIER FOR 12 YEARS, AND A CHEVROLET BERETTA FOR 8 YEARS. NEITHER CAR HAD THIS PROBLEM OF "NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR". IT'S A DEFECT. THE 2/21/13 INVOICE SAYS REPLACED CABLE KIT. THE 7/31/13 INVOICE SAYS "NEEDS SHIFTER CABLE". THE BOTTOM LINE IS THE SHIFT CABLE ADJUSTMENT CLIP BROKE OFF THE SHIFTER CABLE. WHY IS THIS NOT COVERED UNDER THE RECALL? IT'S A PIECE OF THE SAME PART. *TR

WE REPORTED LAST YEAR TO GM THAT WE WERE WITHOUT POWER STEERING, INSTEAD OF FIXING OUR CAR THE ARGUED WITH US THAT THERE HASN'T BEEN A RECALL ON THE POWER STEERING. NOW WE ARE HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE TRACKING. AND THE TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN SLIPPING SINCE LAST SUMMER. *TR

THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE BRAKE LIGHTS ILLUMINATED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. IN ADDITION, THE TRACTION CONTROL AND ESC WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED CONTINUOUSLY. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V252000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL, EXTERIOR LIGHTING, SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC, VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL); HOWEVER, THE PART NEEDED FOR THE REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 66,000.

WHILE DRIVE DOWN THE ROAD THIS ESC LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON AND TELLS ME TO SERVICE TRACTION SOON. I DON'T NOTICE ANYTHING DIFFERENT ABOUT THE WAY IT HANDLES OR DRIVES BUT WHEN THIS LIGHT IS ON YOU CANT SEE THE ODOMETER. TURN THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON THE LIGHT GOES OFF, YESTERDAY IT DID THE SAMETHING. MY CAR ONLY HAS 24000 MILES ON IT. *TR
POWER DOOR LOCKS DO NOT WORK. I BOUGHT THIS BEAUTIFUL 2009 CHEVY MALIBU USED W 48,000 MILES, I HAD IT ONLY 2 MONTHS BEFORE PROBLEMS STARTED WITH THE LOCKS. ALL LOCKS WILL NOT OPEN OR CLOSE USING THE INTERIOR SWITCH NOR THE KEY FOB. IF YOU MANUALLY OPEN THE LOCK BY PULLING IT UP AND THEN START THE CAR AND PUT IT IN GEAR, THE LOCKS WILL ENGAGE AUTOMATICALLY AND LOCK THE DOOR PROPERLY. I CHECKED ONLINE AND EVERYONE SAYS THE PROBLEM WITH THE LOCKS IS THE BCM CONNECTION AND LACK OF DIELECTRIC GREASE.GM NEEDS TO ALSO FIX THE POWER LOCK ISSUE, IT IS VERY MUCH WELL KNOWN ON THE INTERNET. ANYWAY, CHECKING FORUMS IT SEEMS GM IS AWARE OF THE LOCKS FAILING CONSISTENTLY. WE ALL OWNERS OF CHEVY MALIBU'S HAVE THIS ISSUE WITH 2008, 2009, 2010 POWER LOCKS THAT MALFUNCTION. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE SINCE THE DOORS CAN LOCK AND UNLOCK AT RANDOM TIMES. I HAVE OWNED CHEVROLET AUTOS FOR 40 YEARS AND NEVER HAD ONE ACTUATOR GO OUT SO 4 AT ONCE IS OBVIOUSLY A MANUFACTURING DEFECT AND SHOULD BE COVERED BY CHEVY. THIS IS ALSO A SAFETY ISSUE. I ALWAYS HAVE TO ROLL DOWN THE WINDOWS JUST TO OPEN THE DOOR FOR MY KIDS OR ANYONE WHO IS GOING IN THE BACK. ITS VERY ANNOYING AND I JUST ABOUT HAD IT WITH THE MALIBU EVEN THOUGH THE CAR DRIVES NICE IT GETTING IRRITATED. I DON'T HAVE MONEY TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. *TR
DRIVER SIDE AND PASSENGER SIDE AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCKS HAVE FAILED. INTERMITTENTLY, OPENING ANY OF THE FOUR DOORS AT ANY GIVEN TIME WILL CAUSE ALL LOCKS TO ENGAGE. *TR
SEAT FRAME INTEGRITY IS COMPROMISED. SEAT IS NOT SECURED TO THE RUNNING BOARDS. JOINTS WHERE THE TUBES ARE WELDED ARE COMPROMISED AND SEPARATED. APPEARS TO BE A FATIGUE FAILURE. IN JANUARY 2013, WITH MUCH ARGUMENT WITH GM ABOUT REPLACING THE SEAT FRAME, THEY FINALLY AGREED TO REPLACE IT FOR A DEPOSIT OF $300. THIS BEFORE GM HAD TO GO TO CONGRESS TO EXPLAIN THEIR LACK OF ACTION FOR IGNORING THE DESIGN DEFECT OF THE IGNITION SWITCH. IT'S ABOUT 4 YEARS LATER AND I'M HAVING THE EXACT SAME FAILURE OF THE COMPROMISE OF THE WELDS ON THE REPLACED 2013 FRAME. THIS TIME GM REFUSES TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT AS THEY SAY THEY ALREADY REPLACED IT ONCE! THIS IS THE SAME PROBLEM! I HAVE PICTURES FROM THE ORIGINAL SEAT SHOWING THE FATIGUED TUBE BREAKAGE. I HAVE NOW HAD 2 SEAT FRAMES ON THE SAME CAR AND BOTH FAILED. IN ENGINEERING WE CALL THIS STATISTICALLY SIGNIFICANT. GM NEEDS TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS POOR DESIGN. IT'S JUST A MATER OF TIME UNTIL SOMEONE IS KILLED IN AN ACCIDENT CAUSE THE SEAT DOESN'T SECURE THE DRIVER. I'VE NOTICE THAT MY HIPS HURT FROM THE SEAT SLOWING MOVING OUT OF PROPER ALIGNMENT. *TR
WHILE SLOWING DOWN WHILE ATTEMPTING TO COME TO A STOP THE WARNING SYSTEM CAME ON TO SERVICE THE STABILITY CONTROL AND TRACTION CONTROL. THIS SEEMED TO RESET WHEN IGNITION TURNS OFF BUT COMES BACK AT ANY TIME. TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC SHOP AND AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS A CODE CAME UP AND THEY REPLACED THE BRAKE POSITIONING SWITCH . MALIBU HAS HAD A COUPLE OF DIFFERENT PROBLEMS. WHILE DRIVING THE ELECTRICAL PANEL INCLUDING WARNING LIGHTS WOULD FLICKER ON AND OFF ALONG WITH THE VEHICLE LOSING POWER. MULTIPLE TIMES THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL DEALERSHIP WHO ULTIMATELY TOLD ME A GROUNDING WIRE HAD SOME PROBLEMS AND THEY FIXED THE ISSUE. THE VAST MAJORITY OF THE PROBLEMS WERE SOLVED WITH THAT FIX. SINCE THEN THE VEHICLE HAS HAD ISSUES WITH THE STEERING. WHILE DRIVING THE STEERING WHEEL WILL MOVE ITSELF BACK AND FORTH. THE PROBLEM IS NOT ALL THE TIME, AND VERY RANDOM. THIS USUALLY HAPPENS WITHIN THE FIRST FEW MINUTES AFTER THE START OF THE VEHICLE. PRESSURE DID NOT FALL BELOW THIS LEVEL AND WHEN I GOT HOME, I PUT AIR IN TO GET IT BACK TO 30 PSI. I DROVE APPROXIMATELY 2 MILES TO THE GYM. APPROXIMATELY 1 1/4 HOURS LATER, I CAME OUT AND THE PRESSURE WAS AT 26 PSI. CAME HOME, PUT AIR IN AND THE NEXT MORNING, PRESSURE HAD BEEN MAINTAINED. TOOK THE CAR IN TO TIRES PLUS - LAKE MARY FL THE NEXT AM & THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE TIRE. DROVE 40 MILES WITH NO LOSS OF PRESSURE. CAME OUT TO MY CAR APPROXIMATELY 8 HOURS LATER & THERE WAS 12 PSI IN THE TIRE. CALLED AAA AND HAD THE SPARE PUT ON. TOOK THE CAR IN TO TIRES PLUS ON UNIVERSITY BLVD IN ORLANDO. THEY ALSO DID NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG, PUT A NEW VALVE STEM ON AND I DROVE HOME WITH NO LOSS OF PRESSURE. WHEN I WENT TO THE CAR THE NEXT MORNING, PRESSURE WAS AT 9 PSI. PUT AIR IN TO GET PRESSURE BACK TO 30 PSI & DROVE IT TO TIRES PLUS IN LAKE MARY AGAIN (9/9) & IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THERE WAS A PINHOLE IN THE RIM. SINCE HAVING THE NEW RIM PUT ON ONE WEEK AGO, I HAVE NOT HAD A FURTHER PROBLEM. THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED INCIDENT. I MET A GENTLEMAN EARLIER THIS WEEK WHO TOLD ME HE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH TWO WHEELS ON A 2009 MALIBU. I AM GOING TO ASK HIM TO FILE A COMPLAINT, AS WELL. *TR
THE DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR ON BOTH REAR DOORS FAIL TO UNLOCK THE DOOR. APPARENTLY THIS IS VERY COMMON IN 2008 AND 2009 MALIBU'S. CONSIDERING THAT MY CHILDREN (AS I AM SURE MANY OTHERS), IT IS UNSAFE TO HAVE VEHICLES DOORS UNLOCK FROM THE OUTSIDE. FURTHER, GIVEN THE PLACEMENT OF THE PHYSICAL NOBS (IN THE FAR REAR) IT IS IMPRACTICAL TO ALLOW SOMEONE IN THE FRONT SEAT UNLOCK THE REAR DOORS QUICKLY. *TR
THE BALL AND SOCKET JOINT THAT CONNECTS THE MODULE WIPER SYSTEM TO THE WIPER MOTOR HAS FAILED TWICE. ONCE AT APPROXIMATELY 62,000 MILES AND AGAIN THIS WEEK AT APPROXIMATELY 104,000. BOTH FAILURES OCCURRED DURING A LOW VISIBILITY CONDITION (STORM EVENT) WHEN THE WIPERS WERE ON "HIGH." THIS IS A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE THAT DISABLES THE WIPERS AND BOTH TIMES CREATED A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. THE SOCKET PORTION OF THE BALL AND SOCKET JOINT IS A PLASTIC PART THAT IN MY OPINION IS POORLY DESIGNED. OVER TIME THE SOCKET WEARS AND EVENTUALLY IT IS NOT ABLE TO WITHSTAND THE FORCE WHEN THE WIPERS ARE SWITCHED TO HIGH/FAST MODE. OF COURSE THE HIGH/FAST MODE IS USED ONLY DURING VERY LOW VISIBILITY CONDITIONS AND, AS SUCH, THE FAILURE CAUSES A DANGEROUS DRIVING CONDITION. *TR

MY X-RAYS OF MY BACK LOOK AWFUL. WE ALL HAVE VERTEBRAE DAMAGE IN OUR NECKS INJURED NECK, SHOULDERS, ARMS/WRIST, HEADACHES, BACK, RIBS, KNEES, NUMBNESS IN FEET. HURTS VERY MUCH. I ASK "WHAT IF I DON'T AGREE TO THESE TERMS?" FAITH SAID THE FILE WOULD BE CLOSED. GM, THIS IS SERIOUS, YOU CAN'T OFFER A LOANER CAR? THE AVERAGE SMALL CAR RENTAL IS AROUND $27.00 A DAY. OTHER DRIVER WAS DRIVING FASTER THAN 15 MPH MAKING A LEFT TURN. SHE NEVER PUT ON BRAKES. NONE OF THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. ONSTAR NEVER CALLED LIKE IN THE COMMERCIALS ON T.V. ALL PASSENGERS HURT ENOUGH TO HAVE TO SEE A CHIROPRACTOR 10XS FOR BACK, NECK, KNEES, HEADACHE - ALL OVER BODY PAIN. AWFUL X-RAYS... CHIROPRACTOR STATED I'D BEEN LESS HURT IF BAGS HAD DEPLOYED. I THE DRIVER HAVE TO SEE A MD TOMMORROW CAN'T STAND BACK PAIN . CALLED GM WAS TOLD IT MAY TAKE 120 DAYS TO CHECK CAR BUT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR MY RENTAL DURING THE PROCESS. HELLO, MY CAR'S SERVICE TRACTION AND SERVICE ESC LIGHT TURNS ON INTERMITTENTLY. WHEN THIS HAPPENS THE BRAKE LIGHTS BEHAVE IN THE OPPOSITE WAY, I.E. THEY STAY ON DURING NORMAL DRIVING, TURN OFF WHEN I PRESS ON THE BRAKE PEDAL, AND TURN BACK ON WHEN I RELEASE THE BRAKE. THE CRUISE CONTROL DOES NOT WORK WHENEVER THIS HAPPENS. I DO NOT EXPERIENCE ANYTHING DIFFERENT WHILE DRIVING AND I BELIEVE THIS IS A SENSOR/CIRCUITRY ISSUE. I HAD THIS REPAIRED AT THE DEALER THE FIRST TIME (AUGUST, 2012) WHERE THEY PERFORMED THE TSB FIX OF ADDING GREASE TO THE ESC CONNECTORS. THIS PROBLEM HAS RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES, AND I EVEN HAD THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH REPLACED, AND IT NOW OCCURS WHENEVER IT RAINS. I READ THROUGH THE FORUMS AND NEWS WEBSITES AND FOUND THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM IN A LOT OF CHEVY VEHICLES. THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE AS IT MIGHT LEAD TO ACCIDENTS WHEN SOMEONE DRIVING BEHIND MY CAR SEES THAT THE BRAKE LIGHT TURNS OFF WHEN I PRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL. I WOULD LIKE GM/CHEVROLET TO HELP ME OUT HERE AND FIX THIS ISSUE WITHOUT MAKING ME PAY FOR IT BUT THEY HAVE NOT RESPONDED POSITIVELY. THE DEALERSHIP CHARGES $130 JUST FOR DOING SIMPLE DIAGNOSTICS. BUT THIS ISSUE IS SOMETHING PRETTY COMMON TO A LOT OF CHEVROLET CARS AND IS NOT A WEAR RELATED ISSUE. THIS IS AN DEFECT THAT IS A SAFETY RISK THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED.
