IT FIRST STARTED WHEN MY STABILITY LIGHT WOULD COME ON AND MY CAR ACTED LIKE IT WAS GOING TO DIE WHEN I WAS IN A STOPPING POSITION. THIS HAPPENED ABOUT 3 TIMES. THEN I WAS AT A STOP LIGHT AND MY STABILITY LIGHT CAME ON AND MY CAR JUST DIED. I TOOK MY VEHICLE IN TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY REPLACED MY COMPUTER SYSTEM. ON MY RECEIPT THEY INDICATED DUE TO SHORT IN THE ECM. REPLACED AND REPROGRAMMED THE ECM. SINCE THEN THERE HAS BEEN ONE TIME WHEN MY CAR ACTED LIKE IT WAS GOING TO DIE. I TURNED OFF THE HEATER AND RADIO THINKING SOMETHING ELSE WAS CAUSING THIS TO HAPPEN AND MY CAR DID NOT DIE.

VEHICLE SUNROOF LEAKS THROUGH TO CENTER CONSOLE, FRONT DOME LIGHT, CARPETS AND SPEAKERS. THIS OCCURS AT ALL TIMES, STATIONARY AND IN MOTION. MORE SO AFTER RAIN AND CAR WASHING. I NOW HAVE WATER STAINS, MOLD AND SMELL THROUGHOUT CAR.
WHEEL- "CRACK IN RIM" WE PURCHASE A 2010 CHEVROLET MALIBU IN 2013 FROM IVORY CHEVROLET IN UNION CITY, GA. NOTICE OVER TIME THAT PASSAGE TIRE KEPT GOING LOW, REPLACE TIRE 2 TWICE, FINALLY IN 2015 BOUGHT ALL NEW TIRES FROM SEARS TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM BUT THE PASSAGE SIDE KEPT LOSING PRESSURE, COMPLAINT TO SEAR IT NOT THEIR TIRES BUT MAYBE A CRACK IN RIM. BOUGHT A NEW RIM FOR PASSAGE SIDE NOW THE DRIVER SIDE STARTED DOING THE SAME THING WHEN BACK TO SEAR, IT NOT THE TIRE BUT THE WHEEL HAS A CRACK ALSO, CALL GM ON 12/28/2015 THE REP SEND ME TO BELLAMY STRICKLAND THEY STATED "PARTS: 131139 WHEEL LEAKING FROM CENTER PIECE WHERE ATTACHED TO OUTER RIM, CASE NUMBER 8-1731278803, NO CASE IN SYSTEM FOR STEEL WHEELS LEAKING RECOMMENDED TO REPLACE WHEEL FOR $233.84". I HAVE REPLACE THE RIGHT WHEEL (RIM) NOW THE LEFT WHEEL IS CRACK. THERE ARE A NUMEROUS OF COMPLAINTS FROM CONSUMERS ABOUT THEIR STEEL RIM CRACKING BUT GM AND THEIR DEALERSHIP REFUSE TO ACCEPT RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS HAZARDOUS AND DANGEROUS SITUATION, I AM ASKING FOR THE NHTSA TO LOOK INTO THIS PROBLEM BECAUSE THE CRACK IN THE STEEL WHEEL INDICATES THAT THE METAL IS WEAKENED AND VULNERABLE TO FAILURE THAT MAY CAUSE DEAD OR SERIOUS INJURIES TO BODY AND PROPERTY.
2010 CHEVROLET MALIBU MANUFACTURER STEEL WHEEL ARE DEFECTED, AND CHEVROLET GM WILL NOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS MANUFACTURING DEFECT IN THE MOLDING OF THE STEEL, AT A COST OF $233.84 FROM THE DEALERS TO REPLACE. CUSTOMER SERVICE SEND ME TO BELLAMY STRICKLAND IN MCDONOUGH, GA AND THEY ALSO FOUND THE CRACK IN THE STEEL RIM. THERE ARE MANY CONSUMER COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM, DATED AS FAR BACK AS 2008 FROM CONSUMERS. THIS WILL BE THE SECOND STEEL RIM I WILL NEED TO REPLACE AT MY EXPENSE. THIS IS A HAZARDOUS AND DANGEROUS FOR THE OWNER/DRIVER AND THE PUBLIC.
CENTER BRAKE LIGHT DOES NOT CONSISTENTLY LIGHT UP WHEN PROMPTED BY BRAKE PEDAL. SOMETIMES IT WILL WORK, SOMETIMES WITH A LITTLE MORE EFFORT ON THE PEDAL, SOMETIMES NOT AT ALL. SERVICE ESC WILL ALSO AT TIMES COME ON. BOTH ISSUES WERE PART OF A RECALL AND SUPPOSEDLY FIXED. IT DID WORK FOR A WHILE, BUT STARTED HAPPENING AGAIN. I DON'T THINK THE PRESCRIBED FIX WAS SUFFICIENT.
CAR LOST CONTROL OF POWER STEERING SAME TIME AS DRIVER SIDE BACK BRAKE LIGHT WENT OUT STEERING WHEEL SHAKES BAD WHEN SLOWING DOWN FROM 70
DOOR LATCH MALFUNCTIONS. THE AUTO LOCK FUNCTION DOES NOT WORK WHEN TRANSITIONING FROM DRIVE TO PARK, AND THE DOOR IS UNABLE TO BE OPENED AND CLOSED. THE ONLY WAY TO EXIT/ENTER THE VEHICLE IS BY CRAWLING ACROSS PASSENGER SEAT - SAFETY CONCERN.
DRIVER DOOR HANDLES INCONSISTENTLY WORK. ONE DAY THEY WILL BE FINE, THE NEXT NEITHER INSIDE OR OUTSIDE HANDLES WORK. THE MECHANISM FOR THE DOOR LOCK APPEARS TO BE WORKING FINE.
THE DRIVER'S FRONT DOORS ARE LOCKED WHEN THE CAR STOPS AT THE P PARK. AND ONLY OPEN AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO STARTING THE ENGINE AND SWITCHING SPEED. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SECURITY PROBLEM.
12/4/15 NIGHT, DRY CONDITIONS, EXPRESSWAY: IN MOTION: CHIME SOUNDED AND 2 WARNINGS FLASH - SERVICE ESC & SERVICE TRACTION. 15 MINUTES LATER, - CITY STREETS, DRY, SAME ISSUE WITH ESC AND TRACTION WARNING LIGHTS GOING ON, PLUS ALMOST REAR ENDED. IRATE DRIVER BEHIND ME SAID MY BRAKE LIGHTS WERE OUT, BUT THEY WERE ASTONISHED WHEN THE BREAK LIGHTS CAME ON WHILE I WAS OUTSIDE THE CAR. THEY ASKED ME TO PRESS THE PEDAL - NO LIGHTS. 20 SECS AFTER LIFTING OFF THE PEDAL, BRAKE LIGHTS ON. MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. UPON DRIVING FOUND BRAKE LIGHTS ALWAYS GO OFF WHEN BRAKE PEDAL DEPRESSED, GO ON AT OTHER TIMES RANDOMLY WHILE DRIVING AND GO OFF AGAIN WHEN BRAKE PEDAL DEPRESSED.
WHILE DRIVING , IF THE KEYS ARE WIGGLED THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM SHUTS DOWN. TOTAL SYSTEM SHUT DOWN. WIGGLE KEYS AROUND AND WAIT 2 MIN.+-, CAR WILL START AND DRIVE OK. HAS HAPPENED 2 TIMES SO FAR. TAKING TO CHEVY DEALER ON 12/7/2015.
BRAKE LIGHTS WERE WORKING IN REVERSE AFTER RECALL REPAIRS WERE DONE SO CHEVY CHARGED ME FULL PRICE FOR DIAGNOSTICS BECAUSE THEY SAID THAT THE RECALL REPAIRS WERE ALREADY DONE, SO THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. WE REPLACED BRAKE SWITCH. A MONTH LATER PROBLEM PERSISTED, CHEVY DEALERSHIP CHARGED $50 FOR RELEARNING BRAKE POSITION, EVEN THOUGH THAT WAS ALL SUPPOSED TO HAVE BEEN FIXED IN RECALL REPAIRS. BRAKE LIGHTS ARE STILL NOT WORKING PROPERLY AND THE TRACTION CONTROL/ESC LIGHT IS ON, AND CRUISE CONTROL DOESN'T WORK. I AM NOW TAKING IT BACK TO DEALERSHIP AND THEY ARE CHARGING ME AN ADDITIONAL $50 JUST TO TAKE ANOTHER LOOK AT IT. I FEEL I SHOULDN'T BE CHARGED FOR ANY OF THIS SINCE IT ALL SHOULD HAVE BEEN TAKEN CARE OF DURING THE REPAIRS DONE FOR RECALL #: 14V252000. THIS IS A DANGEROUS MANUFACTURING ERROR THAT GM SHOULD BE ACKNOWLEDGING AND REPAIRING AT NO COST TO THE OWNERS. I KNOW I CANNOT BE THE ONLY ONE SUFFERING THIS ISSUE ESPECIALLY AFTER READING NUMEROUS CUSTOMER COMPLAINTS ONLINE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL TANK AND NECK FILLER WERE LEAKING AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. 2010 MALIBU LT, RECALL #13036 ON THIS CAR AND OTHERS, I TOOK IT TO ONE OF THE LOCAL AUTO NATION DEALER IN MID 2015, MIND YOU I DID NOT HAVE ANY OF THE WARNING SIGNS NOTED IN THE 14V-252 REPORT. NOW I SEE THERE IS A RECALL #13036A, 13036B REVISIONS, THEN ABOUT THREE WEEKS OR SO I WAS GOING HOME, MAJOR ROAD 40 MPH, A FRIEND HAPPENED TO BE BEHIND ME, HE FLASHED HIS LIGHT, I SLOWED, LET MY WINDOW DOWN, HE YELLED YOUR BRAKE LIGHTS ARE OUT! I MADE IT HOME IT WAS DARK MY BRAKE LIGHTS WORK AT RANDOM, MY TRACTION CONTROL DISENGAGES AND A SERVICE NOTICE SCROLLS ACROSS READING: SERVICE ESC, AT TIMES THE ENGINE WILL IDLE ROUGH! GM: WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON WITH YOU GUYS, I HAVE BEEN A GENERAL MOTORS GUY ALL MY LIFE, THEN I BUY A 2010 IN 2011 AND IT IS ALREADY A ROAD HAZARD FOR ME AND OTHERS ON THE ROAD, NOT TO MENTION, A PIECE OF [XXX]! WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY I EXPERIENCE MY STEERING COLUMN VIBRATE START TO VIBRATE FOLLOWED BY AN ELECTROINC WARNING STATING POWER STEERING ALONG WITH A SERVICE ESC. MY POWER STEERING WENT COMPLETELY OUT FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE DRIVE. I PARKED AND TURNED OFF MY CAR. AFTER WAITING FOR SEVERAL MINUTES, I STARTED MY CAR AND EVERYTHING SEEMED NORMAL. I PROCEEDED HOME AND AGAIN EXPERIENCE THE POWER STEERING AND SERVICE ESC WARNING LIGHT.
THE DRIVER'S DOOR WILL NOT OPEN FROM EITHER KEY, INSIDE DOOR HANDLE OR OUTSIDE DOOR HANDLE. WE TOOK TO CHEVY MALIBU DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD SINCE THIS IS NOT RECALL WE HAVE TO PAY FOR IT WHICH WOULD BE $467.00. THE VEHICLE ONLY HAS 79.000 MILES. THE DOOR NOT OPENING HAS HAPPENED MANY TIMES AND I AM NOT ONLY ONE THIS HAS HAPPENED TO BECAUSE I CHECKED ON LINE TO SEE THE NUMBERS. IT IS DANGEROUS IN THIS CONDITION. I AM TRAPPED IN CAR WHEN IT HAPPENS PLUS I AM DISABLED AND MOVING OVER MEDIAN TO GET OUR OF CAR IS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT. SINCE THIS IS DANGEROUS, THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL.

WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURRED, THE REDUCE ENGINE POWER AND TRACTION CONTROL INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 98,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE POWER STEERING SUDDENLY MALFUNCTIONED AND THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING COLUMN WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 17,800.
THE CAR HAS CONSISTENT SERVICE ESC / SERVICE TRACTION LIGHT WARNINGS THAT CAUSE MULTIPLE PROBLEMS. THE MOST SERIOUS NOW IS THAT THE BACK BRAKE LIGHTS BUEN CONSTANTLY AS IF I'M RIDING MY BRAKES. IT ALSO DISENGAGES THE TRACTION CONTROL. THIS HAS GONE ON FOR 3 YEARS, 7 REPAIRS AND IT'S NOW OUT OF WARRANTY. I TOOK IT MOST RECENTLY TO CAPITOL CHEVROLET IN AUSTIN. THEY SIMPLY REPLACED THE SAME MALFUNCTIONING PART AGAIN. I HAVE CASE COMPLAINT WITH GM, BUT NO RESOLUTION YET. IT OCCURS NOW EVERY TIME I START THE CAR. IT USED TO BE INTERMITTENT
WHEN TURNING OR DRVING CAR. IT WOULD LOSE SPEED. ALSO NOTICED SMELL IN CAR OF FUEL I WOULD GET NAUSEATING HEADACHES. PURCHASED CAR JUNE 2015 FROM COURSTEY FORD. CAR WAS IN MOTION ON STREET AND HIGHWAY.
DOOR LOCKING MECHANISM IN THE DRIVERS DOOR HAS BEEN FAILING, POWER DOOR LOCK ON DRIVERS DOOR FAILS QUITE OFTEN. WHEN THIS HAPPENS THE DRIVER CAN NOT OPEN THE DRIVERS DOOR EITHER WITH THE POWER UNLOCK OR MANUALLY WITH THE DOOR LOCK IN THE UP POSITION OR FROM THE INSIDE OR OUTSIDE OF THE DRIVERS DOOR WITH THE DOOR HANDLE. IT IS LIKE THE DOOR MECHANISM IS DISABLED. DOES NOT MATTER IF THE CAR IS IN MOTION OR NOT HAPPENS WHEN PARKED OR THE CAR HAS JUST COME TO A STOP. THE DRIVER MUST CRAWL OVER THE CENTER DIVIDER AND OUT THE PASSENGER SIDE TO EXIT OR BACK OVER TO DRIVE THE CAR. HAVE AN APPOINTMENT TO GET IT REPAIRED FOR $350 AT THE CHEVROLET DEALER ON NOVEMBER 11TH BUT THINK THIS SHOULD BE COVERED BY GM AS I HAVE READ THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH 2008 TO 2010 MALIBU CARS AND CERTAINLY IS A SAFETY ISSUE BEING TRAPPED IN THE CAR.
I WAS AT BURGER KING DRIVE THRU AND WHEN I GOT DONE ORDERING I TRIED TO PULL AROUND AND MY POWER STEERING LIGHT CAM ON AND MY ESC LIGHT . I COULD NOT TURN IT WAS VERY HARD I HAD TO TURN OFF MY CAR AND IT FIXED IT SELF. THIS BETTER BE A RECALL BEC WHY DO I GOT TO SPEND MY MONEY TO FIX THIS IT'S BS
WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET THE POWER STEERING SUDDENLY FAILED WITHOUT WARNING MAKING THE VEHICLE EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO HANDLE. THE ESC WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF THEN BACK ON AND THE POWER STEERING WAS REENGAGED. SHORTLY AFTER IT FAILED AGAIN AND THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN IMMEDIATELY TO THE DEALERSHIP.

WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER AND THE POWER STEERING ASSIST AND TRACTION CONTROL WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING COLUMN NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 113,000.
SAFETY RECALL 13036B BRAKE LAMP MALFUNCTION THIRD BRAKE LIGHT STAYS ON ALL THE TIME. WILL GO OFF WHEN I PRESS ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. WILL ONLY ENGAGE WHEN PEDAL IS PUSHED ALL THE WAY TO FLOOR. ALSO EFFECTS TRACTION CONTROL, CRUISE CONTROL AND SHIFTING IN/OUT OF PARK. DEALER SAID IT WAS ALREADY FIXED, I HAVE NO RECORD OF IT. THEY, DEALER SND GM WILL NOT TAKE CARE OF THEIR ISSUE. VERY BIG SAFETY ISSUE, I DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN MY VEHICLE.
MY CAR WOULDN'T START, SO I LOOKED IT UP ON THE INTERNET. THE ANTI-THEFT LIGHT WAS ON, IT TOLD ME TO UNPLUG MY BATTERY SO THE CAR WOULD REBOOT THE SYSTEM. I DID THAT, THEN IT STARTED. IT HAPPENS NOW ABOUT ONCE A WEEK. I HAVE CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND THAT YEAR THERE IS NO RECALL ON IT, BUT PREVIOUS YEARS IT WAS. I HAVE NO NOTICE WHEN IT WILL HAPPEN, THE CAR IS PARKED . IT JUST WON'T TURN ON.
I AM THE OWNER OF A 2010 CHEVY MALIBU 2LT FWD. I BOUGHT THE CAR IN AUGUST OF 2013, SINCE THEN I HAVE HAD TO HAVE THE TRANSMISSION REBUILT DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE MANUFACTURER USED A FAULTY 3-5 REVERSE WAVE PLATE. THIS IS THE SAME WAVE PLATE THAT CAUSED SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE TO VEHICLES IN THE RECALL OF SIMILAR VEHICLES IN THE 2007-2009 MODELS. THE DEALERSHIP TRIED TO MAKE IT SEEM LIKE I WAS SOME SORT OF FREELOADER BECAUSE I DIDNT NOT FEEL A CAR WITH 63000 MILES ON IT SHOULD HAVE A BAD TRANSMISSION. WHEN ALL WAS SAID AND DONE THE 3-5 WAVE PLATE FELL APART AND SHREDDED MY TRANSMISSION. THE CAR STOPPED ACCELERATING IN TRAFFIC, THIS ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT NOT ONCE NOT TWICE BUT 3 TIMES. AS THE MY CHILDREN WERE IN THE VEHICLE THE 1ST 2 TIMES THE CAR STOPPED WORKING PROPERLY, THE VERY FIRST TIME THE DEALER STATED THAT EVEN THOUGH THE COMPUTER SHOWED THE FAULT CODES IN THE COMPUTER FROM THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STATING THERE WAS A TRANSMISSION ERROR SINCE THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO MAKE THEM REPEAT IT WAS FINE. 2 WEEKS LATER IT HAPPENED AGAIN AND CAUSED ME TO HAVE TO PAY $500 AFTER MUCH COMPLAINING AND PLEADING AS MY CAR WAS ONLY 5 YRS OLD WITH LESS THAN 65000 MILES ON IT, BUT ALL WARANTEES HAD JUST CONVENIENTLY EXPIRED. I FEEL THAT THIS MUST BE LOOKED INTO, THIS IS THE 2ND COMPLAINT THAT I HAVE FILED DUE TO THE FACT THAT MY CAR STILL DOES NOT RUN CORRECTLY AND IT HAS BEEN DOCUEMENTED THAT IF IT HAPPENS ONCE IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN. THESE VEHICLES ARE NOT ANY SAFER THAN THE EARLIER MODELS AND NEED TO BE LOOKED INTO AS WERE THE 2007-2009 MODELS WITH THE SAME FAULTY TRANSMISSION ISSUES. IF NOT THEN SOMEONE IS GOING TO BE SERIOUSLY HURT OR KILLED. IF I HAD NOT BEEN ATTENTIVE TO MY CAR MY DAUGHTER OR I WOULD NOT BE HERE, OR A DRIVER OF THE OTHER VEHICLES THAT COULD HAVE BEEN INVOLVED. AS CARS SHOULD NOT JUST STOP ACCELERATING BECAUSE OF CHEVYS NEGLECT TO SEE THIS PROBLEM
WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM WORK ON OCTOBER 2016 3 RANDOM LIGHTS ON MY DASHBOARD APPEARED(ENGINE LIGHT, SERVICE AIRBAG LIGHT, ESC). THEY STAYED ON FOR ABOUT 2 HOURS THEN DISAPPEARED FOR THE REST OF THE DAY. THE FOLLOWING DAY, ALL THREE LIGHTS APPEARED AND DID NOT LEAVE FOR 3 DAYS, THEN DISAPPEARED. THEN THEY REAPPEARED FOR 2 DAYS, THEN DISAPPEARED. THE DAY AFTER THEY DISAPPEARED,ALL LIGHTS APPEARED BUT THE ENGINE LIGHT. NOW I ONLY HAVE ESC AND SERVICE AIRBAG WHICH COMES ON AND OFF.

I HAVE ONLY BEEN DRIVING THIS CAR FOR 5 MONTHS. PURCHASED USED AT DEALERSHIP. I DO NOT DRIVE FAR. ALL OF A SUDDEN ESC AND "SERVICE TRACTION" SHOWS UP ON MY DASH. TO ME, THIS IS A BIG SAFETY ISSUE AND I SEE THAT MY CAR IS DOING THE SAME AS OTHERS BUT GM TOLD ME VIA PHONE CALL, "ONLY CERTAIN VIN NUMBERS ARE RECALLED". SOMETHINGS WRONG HERE. IS IT GOING TO TAKE SOMEONE TO BE SEVERELY INJURED OR WORSE FOR THIS TO GET HANDLED? WHEN SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, SHE WAS INFORMED THEY COULD DIAGNOSE THE ISSUE USING THEIR ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT. ON NOVEMBER 1, 2015, THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT AGAIN AS SHE WAS DRIVING. THE CONSUMER WENT TO ANOTHER REPAIR FACILITY AND HAD THE PROBLEM DIAGNOSED. HOWEVER, THE REPAIR FACILITY WAS NOT A GM DEALERSHIP. *JB
STEERING COLUMN POPPING, CLUNKING, AND BINDS UP DURING DRIVING OR STATIONARY. MORE OFTEN WHEN TURNING RIGHT BUT HAPPENS WHEN TURNING LEFT. SOMETIME THE CAR NEEDS MORE FORCE TO RETURN STRAIGHT AFTER VEERING RIGHT ON HIGHWAY.. COULD NOT TURN INTO RIGHT LANE BECAUSE THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD NOT TURN THAT SHARP UNTIL IT POPPED. I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM GENERAL MOTORS DATED SEPTEMBER 2015 WHICH IDENTIFIED THAT THERE IS A POTENTIAL STEERING PROBLEM WITH MY CAR WHICH MAY OCCUR SUDDENLY WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING. THE CAR MAY LOSE POWER STEERING ASSIST AND BE HARD TO STEER ACCORDING TO THE LETTER. THE LETTER OFFERS AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. I HAVE CHECKED FOR RECALLS RELATED TO GM VEHICLES. THERE IS A RECALL IDENTIFIED FOR THE PROBLEMS IDENTIFIED IN THE LETTER WHICH ARE IDENTICAL TO THOSE DESCRIBED IN THE LETTER. I WAS STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN TO TURN AND WHEN I ACCELERATED A QUICK FLASH OF THE SERVICE ECM MESSAGE CAME ON AND THEN DISAPPEARED, BUT THE CAR STALLED OUT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION. WHEN I TRIED TO RESTART THE CAR, IT WOULD TURNOVER, RUN FOR 2 SECONDS AND THEN DIE. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO MY HOUSE, WHERE WE CHARGED THE BATTERY AND TOOK IT OVER TO AUTOZONE TO HAVE THE ELECTRONICS SCANNED, WHERE IT SHOWED 3 CODES: U0121, P0106, P0621. THEY SCANNED THE BATTERY AND ALTERNATOR, AND ALL CAME UP WITH A CLEAN BILL OF HEALTH (SO TO SPEAK). UPON READING ONLINE IT LOOKS LIKE THIS WAS AN ISSUE IN MALIBU'S 2004-2009 (WHICH WAS RECALLED), AND I BELIEVE THEY NEVER FIXED THE ISSUE AND NOW 2010'S MAY BE AFFECTED. MY WORRY IS THAT THIS WILL HAPPEN AGAIN AND IT WILL BE AT A BUSIER INTERSECTION OR WORSE YET, ON THE HIGHWAY.
WE HAD JUST GOTTEN OFF OF THE HIGHWAY AND WERE IN THE DRIVE THROUGH WAITING ON OUR FOOD WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE WHEEL LOCKED UP. WE HAD TO PULL INTO A PARKING SPOT AND TRIED TO FIGURE OUT WHAT WAS GOING ON. WE WAITED ABOUT 1 1/2 AND TRIED TO TURN THE WHEEL AGAIN AND IT WAS WORKING. THE NEXT MORNING WE RENTED A CAR AND TOOK THE VEHICLE INTO THE DEALER SHIP TO GET REPAIRED. THEY CALLED US BACK LATER IN THE DAY TO TELL US THAT THE SENSOR WENT OUT ON THE POWER STEERING AND IT WOULD HAVE TO BE REPAIRED. WE LOOKED ONLINE AND SAW THAT THERE HAD BEEN RECALLS RELATED TO THIS ISSUE FOR THE 2010. THE DEALER TOLD US THAT WE WERE NOT COVERED DUE TO THE MILEAGE ON THE CAR. IN LOOKING ONLINE THERE ARE HUNDRED'S OF OTHER PEOPLE THE ARE HAVING THIS SAME ISSUE WITH THE 2010 MODELS. WHY IS THIS NOT COVERED UNDER A RECALL IF THEY ARE AWARE THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM. WE PAID $671 OUR OF POCKET FOR THIS REPAIR.
I HAVE FILED ONE COMPLAINT ABOUT THIS ISSUE, NOW AFTER HAVING THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH REPLACED, I AM BACK AGAIN. MY 2010 CHEVY MALIBU,[XXX], THE BRAKE LIGHTS ILLUMINATE WHEN THE BRAKE PEDDLE IS NOT ENGAGED. ON 9/15/15 I WAS MAKING A RIGHT HAND TURN FROM A RED LIGHT WHEN I HEARD A LOUD POP OR BANG FROM MY FRONT END, WHEN I STEPPED ON THE GAS THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. MY CAR WAS OUT OF WARRANTY SO AFTER COMPLAINING TO THE DEALERSHIP AND GM THEY FINALLY HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALER (AFTER 2 WEEKS) TO HAVE IT FIXED OR LOOKED AT. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT THAT WAS ON AT THE TIME RESET IT SELF BUT THE 2CODES FOUND IN THE COMPUTER WERE THE P0716 AND P0717 TRANSMISSION CODES BUT SINCE THEY WERE HISTORIC (WHICH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS NEVER COME ON EXCEPT FOR THE BREAK LIGHT ISSUE) THE DEALERSHIP SAID MY CAR WAS FINE. I PICKED IT UP AND OFF I WENT. 12 DAYS LATER THE VEHICLE BUCKED MAKING A LEFT TURN, AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS BACK ON. I WAS FORCED TO DRIVE TO THE DEALERSHIP WHEN THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT COME OUT OF 1ST GEAR. THE TRANSMISSION WAS SHREDDED. THEY WOULD NOT TELL ME WHAT CODES WERE IN THE COMPUTER THIS TIME. BUT AS I STATED WAS AN ISSUE WITH VEHICLES FROM 2007 -2009 THE 3-5 WAVE PLATE BROKE AND CONTAMINATED MY TRANSMISSION. THE CAR IS STILL NOT 100% RUNNING RIGHT. THE CAR STILL HESITATES AND JUMPS AND HAS A HARD SHIFT WITH ISSUES ACCELERATING.

THE AIRBAG SENSOR GOES OFF DUE TO HEAT RISING. ESPECIALLY IN THE SUMMER WHEN CAR TEMPERATURE RISES. THIS PAST SUMMER I'VE HAD THE SENSOR GO OFF MORE THAN 3 TIMES A MONTH DUE TO THE EXCESSIVE HEAT, I'M CURRENTLY UNSURE IF IT'LL EVEN DEPLOY CORRECTLY IF I'M IN AN ACCIDENT.I USUALLY HAVE TO REMOVE THE AIRBAG AND THEN CHECK FOR ANY DAMAGE TO IT AND THEN RE-INSERT IT. WE GOT UP THIS MORNING, WENT TO GET INTO OUR CAR AND AS I TRIED TO UNLOCK IT I NOTICED MY KEYLESS ENTRY WOULD NOT UNLOCK THE DOOR. I TRIED STARTING MY CAR, THE IDIOT LIGHTS CAME ON AS DID MY STEREO, BUT THE CAR NEVER TRIED TO TURN OVER. WE HAD NO INTERIOR LIGHTS, NO HEADLIGHTS, AND NOT EVEN HAZARDS!! I THOUGHT HAZARDS WE'RE SUPPOSED TO WORK IN EMERGENCIES BUT APPARENTLY I WAS MISTAKEN. THANK GOD WE WEREN'T BROKE DOWN IN THE MIDDLE OF A ROAD OR FREEWAY. I'VE NOTICED OTHER YEARS OF THIS PARTICULAR CAR HAVE A RECALL FOR AN IGNITION SWITCH, WHY NOT THIS ONE? BECAUSE THEIR STORIES SOUND JUST LIKE MINE. I WENT TO OPEN MY FRONT, DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR (FROM THE OUTSIDE) AND IT WOULD NOT OPEN. I CLIMBED THROUGH THE PASSENGER FRONT AND TRIED TO OPEN THE DRIVER'S DOOR FROM THE INSIDE...IT STILL WOULD NOT OPEN. USING THE PALM OF MY HAND, I BUMPED THE EFFECTED DOOR ON THE OUTSIDE DOOR PANEL, BY THE HANDLE AND IT OPENED. I LUBED THE INSIDE DOOR CATCH AREA AS MUCH AS I COULD AND IT SEEMED OK. 48 HOURS LATER, I WAS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. ADDITIONALLY, THERE HAVE BEEN A FEW TIMES DURING THIS TIME FRAME WHERE I WENT TO CLOSE THE DOOR AND IT BOUNCED BACK OPEN AGAIN. IT SEEMS THAT THE DOOR LATCH NEVER CAUGHT THE POST ON THE FRAME. THIS IS CLEARLY A SAFETY ISSUE. AN ELDERLY OR DISABLED DRIVER MAY NOT BE ABLE TO GET OUT IN THE CASE OF AN EMERGENCY. NOT EVERYONE IS PHYSICALLY CAPABLE OF FOLDING THEMSELVES UP AND CLIMBING OVER THE ARMREST INTO THE PASSENGER SEAT. ALSO, IT STANDS TO REASON THAT IF THE DOOR MAY NOT LATCH SHUT, IT MAY OPEN WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD.
