2013 CHEVROLET MALIBU. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO ILLUMINATED AIR BAG LIGHT AFTER HAVING BATTERY REPLACED. *LD *JS
BOTH REAR WHEEL BEARINGS AND HUBS WENT BAD QUICKLY. AT 71382 MILES , A NOISE STARED IN THE REAR OF THE CAR WHILE DRIVING AND WITHIN FEW DAYS BECAME VERY LOUD.
The contact owns a 2013 Chevrolet Malibu. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the serpentine belt detached. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed, and determined that the serpentine belt needed to be reinstalled. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
STARTING IN OCTOBER 23, 2017 GOT IN THE CAR STARTED IT AND IT STARTED BUT DASHBOARD LIGHTS DID NOT COME ON. PROCEEDED TO DRIVE HOME THE DASHBOARD NEVER CAME BACK ON. I GOT IN THE CAR THE NEXT DAY THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS CAME ON.. I TOOK IT GEORGE MATICK CHEVROLET ON OCTOBER 24, 2017 AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE ANYTHING, THE CAR CONTINUED TO DO THE SAME WITH THE LIGHTS BLINKING ON AND OFF INCLUDING THE SIGNAL LIGHT WHILE DRIVING UNTIL ONE DAY THE DASHBOARD WAS COMPLETELY BLACK AND THE BATTERY DIED COMPLETELY DOWN AND I HAD TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED TO GEORGE MATICK CHEVY ON JANUARY 31, 2018. ONCE AGAIN THEY SAID THEY COULDN'T DIAGNOSE ANYTHING BOOSTED THE CAR AND THAT'S IT. STILL TO THIS DAY THE CAR CONTINUES DOING THE SAME AND THE DEALERSHIP IS SAYING NOTHING IS WRONG. I FEEL UNSAFE AND BELIEVE THIS IS ELECTRICAL AND WONDER IF THE CAR WILL CATCH ON FIRE. I ALSO WONDER IF IT WILL START UP EVERY DAY AND WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN WHEN I DRIVE IT. EVERY SINGLE DAY IT IS DOING THIS. I KEEP CONTACTING THE DEALER AND THEY BASICALLY ARE SAYING IF THE MACHINE CANNOT DO ANYTHING THEY CANNOT HELP ME. I WANT TO KNOW IF THERE IS ANOTHER WAY THIS ISSUE CAN BE CHECKED OR IF I HAVE TO TRADE IN A CAR THAT I JUST GOT OVER A YEAR AGO. THEY WANT ME TO BRING IT IN AND KEEP PAYING FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING TO TELL ME NOTHING IS WRONG. I AM NO MECHANIC BUT I DO KNOW THAT THE DASHBOARD INSTRUMENT PANEL INDICATOR LIGHT SIGNALS ETC SHOULD NOT BLINK WHILE DRIVING AND THE DASH SHOULD NEVER GO BLACK WHILE DRIVING. PLEASE HELP ME BECAUSE I AM REALLY AFRAID TO DRIVE AND CANNOT GET ANYONE TO UNDERSTAND THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD WHEN YOU CANNOT SEE YOUR SPEED, GAS LEVEL, ETC. IN ADDITION WHEN SIGNALS ARE BLINKING AND GOING CRAZY FOR NO REASON THE CAR BEHIND ME COULD HIT ME. SO THIS HAPPENS NOW IN MOTION EVERY SINGLE DAY ON STREETS, HIGHWAYS. TURNING OR GOING STRAIGHT.
FIRE RESULTING FROM DEFECTIVE POWER SEAT CONTROL MOTOR.
I HAVE HAD REPEATED ISSUES INVOLVING MY 2013 CHEVROLET MALIBU ECO DATING BACK TO 2014. I HAD THE VEHICLE REPAIRED FOR THE SAME ISSUES MULTIPLE TIMES AND THE ISSUE IS STILL NOT RESOLVED. MY VEHICLES HESITATES CONSTANTLY AND STALLS (CUTS COMPLETELY OFF) IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING WITHOUT ANY WARNING. THE STEERING WHEEL ALSO LOCKS UP OCCASIONALLY AND WATER LEAKS IN THE TRUNK. I HAVE OWNED A FEW 'BRAND NEW' VEHICLES AND I HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED ANYTHING LIKE THIS IN MY LIFE. I AM VERY SCARED FOR MY SAFETY AND THE SAFETY OF MY CHILD. I HAVE VOICED MY CONCERNS ABOUT MY SAFETY MANY TIMES ESPECIALLY AFTER ALMOST BEING HIT FROM BEHIND BY A TRACTOR TRAILER ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY. BY THE GRACE OF GOD OUR LIVES WERE SPARED, BUT IT WAS VERY TRAUMATIZING EXPERIENCE. SINCE THAT INCIDENT MY VEHICLE HAS CONTINUED TO STALL AND I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE IN FOR THE ISSUES. MY CAR HAS CUT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF MAJOR INTERSECTIONS, PARKING LOTS, MAIN HIGHWAYS, ETC. AT VARIOUS SPEEDS DRIVING FORWARD AND BACKING UP. NOW MY CHILD IS SCARED TO RIDE IN OUR OWN VEHICLE. EVERY DAY WHEN I GET BEHIND THE WHEEL OF MY CAR ITS LIKE GOING ON SUICIDE MISSION. GM CANNOT FIX THE PROBLEM, WON'T HONOR THEIR WARRANTIES AND BRUSH MY CONCERNS OFF. THIS IS A SERIOUS MATTER AND IT CAN EVENTUALLY RESULT IN THE LOSS OF A LIFE OR MULTIPLE LIVES. I PRAY THAT IT WILL NOT BE ME OR MY DAUGHTER'S LIFE OR WE CAUSE SOMEONE ELSE TO LOSE THEIR LIFE BECAUSE OF OUR STALLED VEHICLE. I HAVE CONTACTED TWO DEALERSHIPS AND GM CORPORATE OFFICE AND I HAVE NOT RECEIVED A RESOLUTION REGARDING MY VEHICLE. BASICALLY, THE DEALERSHIP AND GM CORPORATE CONFIRMED THAT MY SAFETY AND THE SAFETY OF MY CHILD IS NOT A CONCERN OR A PRIORITY. HELP!!

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER ATHENS CHEVROLET (4110 ATLANTA HWY, ATHENS, GA 30606, 706-549-3512) WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE VEHICLE BATTERY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED WHICH WAS REPLACED HOWEVER AFTER A WEEK THE VEHICLE HAD CONTINUED TO STALL. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER DUE TO THE CONTACT HAVING TO CONSTANTLY RECHARGE THE BATTERY. THE DEALER THEN INDICATED THAT THE ECO BATTERY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V173000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) OR NHTSA ACTION NUMBER: AQ14001 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE DEALER WHO SOLD THE VEHICLE, WORLD TOYOTA, 5800 PEACHTREE INDUSTRIAL BLVD, ATLANTA, GA 30341, 1-(678) 547-9000 WAS CONTACTED SEVERAL TIMES TO DETERMINE IF THE WARRANTY MAY BE USED TO DIAGNOSE AND REPAIR THE VEHICLE AND HAD NOT RESPONSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE TO DETERMINE IF THE WARRANTY MAY COVER THE REPAIR AND IF NOT TO PROVIDE A PERMANENT REMEDY TO THE DEALER. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
RANDOM STABILITRAK WARNING FOLLOWED BY ENGINE POWER REDUCED. HAPPENS RANDOMLY WHILE DRIVING. SECOND INSTANCE. FIRST INSTANCE WAS ON INTERSTATE IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. LUCKY TO NOT BE REAR-ENDED.
DASHBOARD NOTIFICATION RECEIVED INDICATING "REDUCED ENGINE POWER" AND TO "SERVICE STABILITRAK". THIS LEADS TO STALLING AND/OR LOSS OF POWER TO VEHICLE. LOSS OF VEHICLE POWER HAS HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS LEAVING THE DRIVER AND PASSENGERS IN UNSAFE LOCATIONS SUCH AS ON THE FREEWAY AND IN CITY TRAFFIC. CONCERNS HAVE BEEN REPORTED TO LOCAL CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP. THE DEALERSHIP HAS PROVIDED SERVICE ON THE VEHICLE FOR THIS OR SIMILAR PROBLEMS 4 TIMES WITHIN THE PAST 12 MONTHS. AFTER RECEIVING SERVICE, THE PROBLEMS WILL SUBSIDE BRIEFLY ONLY TO RESURFACE IN 2-3 MONTHS TIME.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE POWER STEERING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND THE STEERING WHEEL INADVERTENTLY TURNED TO THE LEFT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT IT WAS DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE RIGHT AS THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ENGINE WAS ABLE TO RESTART AFTER APPROXIMATELY A HALF HOUR TO ONE HOUR. DURING THIS TIME, THE STEERING WHEEL OPERATED NORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (GUNN CHEVROLET, 16550 INTERSTATE 35 SELMA, TX 78154, (210) 599-5000) SEVERAL TIMES FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING, BUT A FAILURE CODE COULD NOT BE LOCATED. THE DEALER ALSO TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE AND WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 102,127.
I STARTED MY CAR, AND THE SERVICE AIRBAG POPPED UP ON MY SCREEN.
KEEP STUCK IN IGNITION. NO POWER. HAD P0010 CODE. CHANGED THE INTAKE CAMSHAFT POSITION SOLENOID.
DASHBOARD INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FLICKS ON & OFF WHILE DRIVING HIGHWAY, SIDE STREET OR STATIONARY NO DIFFERENCE. CAR ACTS AS IF IT IS BEING STARTED OVER & OVER WHILE DRIVING. CHECK ENGINE, STABILITY CONTROL & OTHER WARNINGS FLASH. BELL DINGS OVER & OVER. NOW 6 MONTHS LATER, INSTRUMENT CLUSTER DOESN'T WORK AT ALL. NO SPEED/OIL/GAS INDICATORS. DEALERSHIP & MECHANIC SHOP CAN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG DURING DIAGNOSTICS. NO CODES.
SAFETY RISK: THE ENTIRE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM SHUTS DOWN WHILE THE CAR IS IN MOTION. RADIO AND DASHBOARD LIGHTS GO OUT AND THE POWER STEERING FAILS. THIS MALFUNCTION OCCURS RANDOMLY BOTH ON HIGHWAYS, STREET DRIVING (STOP-START), WHILE MAKING LEFT OR RIGHT TURNS AND REVERSING OUT OF PARKING SPACES. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO THE DEALER FROM WHICH I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE (SCHUMACHER CHEVROLET IN CLIFTON, NJ) 3 TIMES AND THEY CLAIM THEY CANNOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM ON TEST DRIVING. ON THE 1ST VISIT THEY SAID IT WAS THE RADIO AND REPLACED A PART. ON THE 2ND VISIT THEY SAID IT WAS THE BATTERY, WHICH WAS REPLACED YET THE PROBLEM PERSISTS. MY MALIBU IS CURRENTLY IN THE SHOP AND THEY CALLED AND OF COURSE, THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. IN ADDITION TO THE ELECTRICAL FAILURE, THE "SERVICE FRONT CAMERA" LIGHT WILL DISPLAY AND AFTER THE LAST EVENT, I SELECTED THE VOLTAGE READING ON THE ELECTRONIC DASHBOARD PANEL AND WATCHED THE VOLTAGE METER FLUCTUATE FROM 13.6 TO 14.1 AS I WAS DRIVING, AND IT REMAINED AT 14.9 WHILE STATIONARY. THIS PROBLEM IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND I PRAY THAT NO DRIVER GETS HURT BEFORE CHEVROLET TAKES ACTION TO FIGURE THIS PROBLEM OUT. I HAD NO IDEA THAT SO MANY OTHER 2013 VEHICLES WERE SIMILARLY AFFECTED. I AM GOING TO REPORT THIS ISSUE TO GENERAL MOTORS AND I HOPE OTHERS CONTINUES TO DO THE SAME.
HEAT BLOWER STOP WORKING. TOOK TO DEALER AND FOUND OUT THE WIRING HARNEST FOR THE HEATER BLOWER WAS MELTED IT HAD BEEB RECEIVING TOO MUCH POWER THE SOURCE IS UNKNOW. THIS COULD HAVE CAUGHT FIRE.
2/3/2018, OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE WAS15DEGREES FAHRENHEIT . TRAVELING AT 65 MPH THEN SUDDENLY VEHICLE SLOWED AND A WARNING APPEARED ON THE DASH, "ENGINE POWER REDUCED" AND TWO WARNING LIGHTS, TRACTION AND ENGINE LIGHT. AS I PROCEEDED TO MY DESTINATION AN ENGINE OVER SPEED WARNING CAME ON SLOWING THE VEHICLE. VEHICLES IN THE REAR STARTED PASSING MY VEHICLE SINCE I COULD NOT MAINTAIN THE SPEED LIMIT. THIS INCIDENT WAS A BIT SCARY. TWO CODES WERE RETRIEVED VIA ON BOARD DIAGNOSTICS, P228D AND P0089. CODES WERE CLEARED AND THINGS SO FAR ARE OK. MILEAGE ON THE VEHICLE IS 48,683.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION GEARS WERE SLOW TO CHANGE OVER WHEN NEEDED, AND THEN THE GEAR WOULD CHANGE OVER ABRUPTLY. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE WOULD SURGE AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED. THERE WERE TWO UNKNOWN WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED: ONE ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND THE OTHER FOR THE TRANSMISSION GEAR SHIFT. KOEPP CHEVROLET (13221 US-87, LA VERNIA, TX 78121, (830) 253-8000) WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NEED TO BE DIAGNOSED TO DETERMINE IF THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 33,150.
CAR KEEPS POWERING OFF WHILE DRIVING INSIDE PANEL LIGHTS TURN OFF THEN CAR POWERS DO AND GOES BACK ON
PURCHASED CAR CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED. FIRST WINTER ENTERTAINMENT DISPLAY AND WARNING LIGHTS STARTED TO FLICKER RANDOMLY, AND CAR WOULD NOT RELIABLY START. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO RECREATE THE SYMPTOMS. THE FOLLOWING WINTER THE ENTIRE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM BEGAN FAILING UPON ENGAGING IT WHILE IN MOTION. FOR EXAMPLE: USING THE THE POWER WINDOWS, ENGAGEMENT OF THE TRACTION CONTROL IN SLIPPERY WEATHER, USING A TURN SIGNAL, WERE ALL CAPABLE OF SHUTTING DOWN ALL ELECTRICAL OPTIONS IN THE VEHICLE INCLUDING THE POWER STEERING. NEARLY CAUSED A COUPLE ACCIDENTS. THE SERVICE STABILTRAK LIGHT WOULD ALSO COME INTERMITTENTLY COME ON. BROUGHT TO DEALERSHIP AGAIN, THEY CLEARED THE DASH LIGHTS AND RESET A SENSOR THAT WAS SHOWING BAD IN A DIAGNOSTIC SCAN. CAR RAN SMOOTHLY FOR A FEW MONTHS. SHOWED SYMPTOMS AGAIN OVER THE SUMMER(LIGHTS FLICKERING AND LOSS OF TOUCH SCREEN MOMENTARILY). DEALERSHIP WAS UNABLE TO RECREATE AGAIN. NOW THIS WINTER THE CAR IS COMPLETELY MESSED UP AGAIN, SAME EXACT SYMPTOMS AS LAST TIME. POWER STEERING LOSS, FULL ELECTRICAL LOSS WHILE IN MOTION, SOMETIMES RANDOMLY, OTHER TIMES AS A DIRECT RESULT OF ENGAGING WITH THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM AS I DESCRIBED BEFORE. A AAA WORKER NOTICED THE BURNING OF ELECTRICAL CABLE HOUSING COMING FROM THE BATTERY, I POINTED THIS OUT TO THE DEALERSHIP BUT THEY DON'T SEEM INTERESTED IN IT. BASED ON THE CONSISTENT COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS VEHICLES ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, THIS CAR NEEDS TO BE RECALLED AND GM SERIOUSLY INVESTIGATED. THEY'VE ALREADY HAD TO SETTLE HUNDREDS OF DEATH LAW SUITS DUE TO THIS EXACT ISSUES THEY CLAIMED WAS A FAULTY IGNITION SWITCH IN THE COBALT, YET THIS EXACT PROBLEM EXISTS HEAVILY IN OTHER MODELS AND THE ISSUE CONTINUES TO BE RAMPANT IN 'FIXED' IGNITIONS IN THE COBALTS. THIS IS A DANGEROUS PUBLIC HEALTH ISSUE, GM NEEDS TO BE HELD RESPONSIBLE
WATER PUMP FAILURE
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH ON A ROADWAY, THE TEMPERED GLASS FRACTURED FROM OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE VISOR WAS CLOSED AND PREVENTED THE GLASS FROM COMPLETELY ENTERING THE VEHICLE AND IMPACTING THE CONTACT'S VISIBILITY. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED (VERMILION CHEVROLET BUICK GMC, 1615 GEORGETOWN RD, TILTON, IL 61833, (217) 442-8400), BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE INSURANCE COMPANY WAS NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
INSTRUMENT CLUSTER WILL STOP WORKING WHILE DRIVING, OR NOT WORK AT ALL. IT GOES COMPLETELY DARK, WITH NO READOUT. SPEEDOMETER, FUEL GAUGE, TEMPERATURE, TACHOMETER. NOTHING WORKS. VEHICLE HAS 54,000 MILES ON IT.
BRAKE PEDAL (PIVOT) BUSHING WORN PREMATURELY AT LESS THAN 36,000 MILES. THIS CAUSED PEDAL TO DRAG AND NOT RETURN NATURALLY TO IT'S "RELEASED / UP AND OFF" POSITION. THE RESULT WAS THAT PRESSURE REMAINED ON THE BRAKE SYSTEM SO THAT CALIPERS AT WHEELS DID NOT RELEASE, CAUSING BRAKE PADS TO REMAIN IN CONTACT WITH BRAKE DISC. BRAKE OVERHEATING, EXCESSIVE WEAR, INABILITY TO INITIATE "CRUISE CONTROL" AND REDUCED BRAKING PERFORMANCE WERE ALL RESULTS OF THIS PREMATURE DESIGN AND OR MATERIAL DEFICIENCY. THIS PROBLEM WAS APPARENT UNDER ALL CONDITION WHEN BRAKES WERE USED. BRAKE PEDAL HAD TO BE PHYSICALLY PULLED "UP" TO RELEASE THE BRAKES.
TRUNK RELEASE : THE TRUNK RANDOMLY RELEASES AND POPS OPEN EVEN WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES AND LAST HAPPENED ON 01/10/2018 WHILE IT WAS PARKED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE POWER STEERING MALFUNCTIONED AND CAUSED THE STEERING WHEEL TO BECOME VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN IN EITHER DIRECTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL CHEVROLET DEALER (PHIL SMITH CHEVROLET, 1640 NORTH STATE RD 7, LAUDERDALE, FL 33313). THE DEALER RESET THE POWER STEERING MODULE, BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 118,000.
STARTED CAR AND HAD NO POWER STEERING AND A WARNING TO SERVICE. BROUGHT TO DEALER AND WAS TOLD AFTER THE VEHICLE HAD WARMED UP THAT THE ELECTRIC ASSIST MOTOR HAD QUIT AND THERE HAS BEEN ISSUES WITH THIS DURING COLD WEATHER. IT HAD BEEN BELOW ZERO FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED OVERNIGHT AND LUCKY I HAD NOT BEEN MOVING WHEN IT HAPPENED. NOTHING WAS DONE AT DEALERSHIP AS IT STARTED WORKING AFTER SITTING OVER NIGHT IN THERE GARAGE. THIS IS A $2000 REPAIR IF THE ELECTRIC MOTOR GOES OUT AND A SAFETY ISSUE. I BOUGHT THIS CAR NEW IN MINNESOTA AND COLD IS A FACTOR HERE AND THE ELECTRIC STEERING SHOULD NOT BE FAILING AT 48,000 MILES.
MY 2013 CHEVY MALIBU HAS BEEN HAVING POWER AND/OR ELECTRICAL ISSUES. I HAVE TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP NUMEROUS OF TIMES, BUT THE ISSUE IS STILL ONGOING. WHEN I STEER LEFT OR RIGHT, MY CAR POWERS DOWN AND THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKS. SOME TIMES THE CAR RADIO SCREEN AND DASHBOARD LIGHTS FLASHES ON & OFF. THE ONLY WAY TO MAKE IT STOP IS TO TURN THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON. I CAN BE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND THE CAR WILL SHUT DOWN AND POWER OFF ON ITS OWN. IT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS, BUT THAT IS THE ONLY TRANSPORTATION I HAVE RIGHT NOW. I AM NOT SURE WHAT IS GOING ON AND I HAVE SEEN NUMEROUS OF COMPLAINTS FROM PEOPLE WITH THE SAME ISSUES. PLEASE INVESTIGATE.
THE CLUSTER PANEL WILL POWER OFF WHILE DRIVING AND STAY OFF. AFTER FUSES AND BULBS ARE REPLACED, SAME ISSUE PERSISTS. WHEN PASSENGER SEAT IS IN REAR POSITION, THE CLUSTER WILL FLICKER MOMENTARILY. THIS RESULT WILL TRIGGER RANDOMLY WHETHER STATIONARY OR IN MOTION.

THE SUNROOF ELECTRICAL SWITCH MALFUNCTIONS. AFTER OPENING, THE ROOF DOES NOT CLOSE PROPERLY AND STAYS PARTIALLY OPENED.
FOR THE PAST TWO YEARS MY CAR HAS BEEN CONSISTENTLY BURNING OIL BETWEEN OIL CHANGES TO THE POINT WHERE THERE IS LESS THAN A QUART IN THE ENGINE. AS OF APRIL 2020 I HAVE HAD TO ADD APPROXIMATELY TWO QUARTS OF OIL EACH WEEK IN BETWEEN THE OIL CHANGES IN ORDER TO MAINTAIN A PROPER LEVEL OF OIL IN THE ENGINE. MY MECHANIC REPLACED A SOLENOID BECAUSE THERE WAS A CODE SAYING IT NEEDED REPLACED IN APRIL. THE ENGINE LIGHT DOES NOT COME ONE, HOWEVER THE ENGINE WILL CLICK OR KNOCK LOUDLY AFTER DRIVING IT APPROXIMATELY 60 MILES AFTER ADDING OIL TO IT. MY MECHANIC STATED THIS IS AN ONGOING ISSUE WITH THE 2013 CHEVY MALIBU ECO. I AM AWARE OF SEVERAL PEOPLE WHO HAD THIS SAME ISSUE AND EVENTUALLY HAD TO REPLACE THEIR ENGINE AT THEIR COST. ALL OWNERS OF 2012-2014 CHEVY ECO MALIBU.I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY THE CHEVY DEALER IN MY TOWN THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE TO GM AND YET THEY WILL NOT ISSUE A RECALL NOR COVER THE COST OF ENGINE REPLACEMENT. (THIS ISSUE ALSO HAPPENED WITH HYANDUI SONATA'S AND HYUNDAI DID REPLACE THE ENGINES FOR THOSE WITH THIS ISSUE OF BURNING OIL AT AN ACCELERATED RATE.
FUSE CAUSED LOW VOLTAGE POWER STEERING GOING ON AND OFF WIYHOUT THE STEERING SERVICE LIGHT COMING ON. THE STEERING BECAME LOOSE. HARD TO CONTROL WHEN DRIVING. I COULD NOT GET PART FOR OVER A WEEK.
WHILE DRIVING THE CAR INFORMED ME THAT I HAD AN ACCIDENT AND ONSTAR CALLED. THIS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES. IN ORDER TO STOP THE FLASHERS I WOULD HAVE TO PULL OVER AND RESTART THE CAR. I INFORMED THE DEALER AND THEY HAVE BEEN TESTING , CALLING GM, AND REPAIRING FOR 6WEEKS. THEY KEEP TELLING ME IT IS FIXED AND I DRIVE IT AND THE SAME THING HAPPENS AGAIN. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR 6 WEEKS NOW AND IT'S STILL AT THE DEALER. THEY CAN NOT SEEM TO FIND THE ISSUE. THE LAST TIME I TRIED TO DRIVE THE CAR IN ADDITION TO TO THE OTHER PROBLEMS THE CAR WOULD STOP ALL TOGETHER. THIS SEEMS LIKE A MAJOR SAFTEY ISSUE TO ME.
WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION THE RADIO SCREEN WOULD FLASH OFF AND ON FOLLOWED BY LOSE OF POWER STEERING THE CAR WAS PARKED AND TOWED TO A LOCAL DEALERSHIP TO BE INSPECTED
Car starts idling up and down while stopped at light. When the car is given the gas to go it will not pick up speed it stalls and car completely turns off in drive. While parked in parking lot I put the car in reverse and it would not move and that has happened 5 times. The engine light comes on and I have taken it to 4 different mechanics to put the diagonstic test on it and it comes up with idle sensor, change it and 2 days later car starts jerking and will not go over 35mph and finally dies. While driving 55mph on the hwy the car looses speed and wont go over 35 mph. Nobody is allowed to drive this car until chevy fixes it, and it will sit in my yard until then because my family is more important than a piece of metal. I wont sell it because of this danger either. I crank it up every month but it has not been driven in 2 years.
WHEN SWITCHING ON WINDOW DEFROST I NOTICED THE HEAT WAS NOT BEING DIVERTED IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION. I THEN PRESSED THE CONTROL SWITCH TO FEET/WINDOW TO SEE IF THIS FUNCTION WORKED. IT DID NOT.
MY MALIBU'S DASHBOARD WILL GO OUT WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE. NO SPEED, ODOMETER READINGS, FUEL, TEMPERATURE OR DIGITAL SPEED DISPLAY WORKS. IT WILL COME ON AND WORK FINE BUT WILL RANDOMLY GO OUT WHILE DRIVING. SOMETIMES DURING START UP THE DASH WILL NOT EVEN START UP WITH THE CAR. THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT CUSTOMERS SHOULD NOT BE LIABLE TO FIX. I HAVE NO AFTERMARKET PARTS ON THIS CAR AND IT HAS NEVER BEEN INVOLVED IN A CRASH.
CAR SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED. TOUCH SCREEN GOES BLACK AND POWER STEERING GOES OUT. IT HAPPENS MORE FREQUENT WHEN TURNING. IT IS UNSAFE BECAUSE IF YOU ARE DRIVING ON A CURVE IT COULD CAUSE A CRASH BECAUSE THE STEERING WHEEL WILL NOT TURN. YOU LOOSE CONTROL OF THE CAR.
VEHILE IS AT 61K NO ACCIDENTS, WHILE INCREASING SPEED AS COMING ON TO THE INTERSTATE (HAD NOT EVEN REACHED 70 MPH) THE ENGINE OVERHEATING WARNING CAME ON, I PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE AND BEFORE I HAD A CHANCE TO TURN OFF THE CAR, IT ALL THE SUDDEN COOLED DOWN AND NO WARNING WAS GIVEN. CALLED THE HUSBAND HE SAID IT HAD HAPPEN ONE OTHER TIME 2 DAYS AGO. HE SAID THAT IT INSTANTLY COOLS ITSELF DOWN.
"CHARGING SYSTEM" ENGINE LIGHT KEEP COMING ON. ALL LIGHTS COME ON DASH BOARD COME ON THEN GO DIM. CAR SHUTS DOWN ON YOU WHILE DRIVING AND STEERING WHEEL LOCKS UP. I ALMOST CRASH INTO A LIGHT.

IN ADDITION, THE "SERVICE POWER STEERING" MESSAGE ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MIKE HAGGERTY GMC (9100 S. KENTON ST., OAKLINE, IL) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION MODULE WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
THIS 2013 CHEVY MALIBU IS LIKE A METAL DEATH TRAP, IN MY OPINION. I'M NOTICING A LOT MORE ISSUES WITH THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. THE CAR (AS I'M DRIVING) WILL COMPLETELY SHUT OFF; THE RADIO WILL FIRST SHUT OFF, MY DASHBOARD WILL GO BLACK, AND MY STEERING WHEEL WILL LOCK UP. USUALLY I CAN TELL WHEN IT'S GOING TO HAPPEN, BECAUSE WHEN I'M AT A LIGHT, I CAN JUST SEE THE LIGHTS ON MY DASHBOARD FLICKERING, SO IF I HAVE TIME, I WILL TURN IT ON AND OFF REAL QUICK. SOMETIMES WHEN I DO THAT THOUGH, MY CAR WON'T TURN BACK ON. BUT, WHEN IT DOES WORK, IT'S JUST A TEMPORARY FIX AND WILL START AGAIN ONCE I START TO DRIVE. THIS WILL HAPPEN MULTIPLE TIMES A DAY. I WILL TRY TO TURN, AND MY STEERING WHEEL WILL JUST LOCK WHERE I CANNOT CONTROL MY CAR AS I'M DRIVING. SEVERAL TIMES THIS HAS ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. WHEN I'M ON THE HIGHWAY GOING 65-70 MPH, I CAN'T CONTROL MY CAR FOR 5-10 SECONDS, LET'S JUST SAY IT'S ONE OF THE SCARIEST MOMENTS THAT YOU CAN HAVE WHILE OPERATING A VEHICLE. ONE TIME IT HAPPENED, I ALMOST HIT A MAN ON HIS BICYCLE. I'VE CALLED CHEVY, THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT'S WRONG. APPARENTLY THERE'S NO OPEN RECALLS OR BULLETINS FOR THIS ISSUE. WHEN I TAKE IT TO GET IT CHECKED, THEY CAN NEVER FIND AN ISSUE. DOES SOMEONE NEED TO GET SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED FOR CHEVY TO ADDRESS THIS?
THIS IS MY SECOND COMPLAINT CONSIDERING THIS ISSUE. LOSS OF POWER STEERING, RADIO GOES BLACK, GAUGE CLUSTER GOES BLACK. SINCE MY LAST COMPLAINT THIS HAS OCCURRED NO LESS THAN 15 TIMES WITH TWO VERY CLOSE ACCIDENTS. THIS IS BECOMING A VERY DANGEROUS VEHICLE. AND I PLEAD WITH YOU TO OPEN A RECALL THANK YOU. IT HAS NOW OCCURRED ON BOTH CITY ROADS AND HIGHWAY SPEEDS. IT SEEMS TO GET WORSE WHEN THE TURN SIGNAL IS USED.
KEY FOB BREAKS IN HALF. MANUFACTURER MAKES A KEY THAT CAN NOT WITHSTAND LIFE OF VEHICLE. HAVE HAD 2 KEY FOBS BREAK SINCE PURCHASING VEHICLE.
THIS IS MY SECOND REPORT. THE VEHICLE LOSES POWER STEERING AND THE ENTIRE GAUGE CLUSTER GOES DARK. ALMOST CAUSED A WRECK TODAY. IT HAPPENED TWICE TODAY AND ONCE YESTERDAY. THIS IS GETTING OUT OF HAND. NEEDS TO BE RECALLED IMMEDIATELY. THANK YOU
WHILE DRIVING ACROSS A BRIDGE AT ABOUT 50MPH, THE ENGINE LIGHT, POWER STEERING, ABS AND BATTERY CHARGING SYSTEM WARNING LIGHTS ALL CAME ON AND THEN THE CAR COMPLETELY LOST ALL POWER. I HAD LITTLE CONTROL OF THE CAR BUT WAS ABLE TO SAFELY PULL ONTO THE SHOULDER. I COULD HAVE CRASHED ONTO THE MEDIAN OR ANOTHER FASTER CAR COULD HAVE HIT ME, I COULD HAVE DIED. TRIED TO GET A JUMP BUT IT WOULD NOT STAY ON ONCE CABLES WERE REMOVED. TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE 2 BUSINESS DAYS LATER I'M TOLD THE TIMING CHAINS, CAM SHAFT AND FUEL PUMP NEED REPLACING. CAR IS UNDER 38,000 MILES. I HAVE WITNESSED MY DASHBOARD AND RADIO LIGHT UP WHEN NO ONE IS IN IT AND ALL DOORS ARE LOCKED. CAR TURNED OFF ONCE LAST WEEK WHILE I WAS DRIVING UNDER 20MPH BUT IMMEDIATELY TURNED BACK ON BY ITSELF. JUST THOUGHT MAYBE I USED BAD GASOLINE. HAVE TO WAIT 2-3 MORE DAYS JUST FOR THEM TO START WORKING ON IT AND CANNOT GET AN ESTIMATE ON HOW LONG THE WORK WILL TAKE. CHEVY REFUSES A LOANER/RENTAL CAR UNTIL THE CAR IS BEING WORKED ON EVEN THOUGH THEY ALREADY RENDERED IT INOPERABLE. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS CAR AND HAVEN'T HAD THIS PREOWNED VEHICLE EVEN A YEAR YET. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH THIS CAR AND EVEN MORE DISAPPOINTED WITH THE SERVICE AND LACK OF HELP AND ACCOMMODATIONS FROM CHEVROLET. ALSO DISAPPOINTED THAT THE WARRANTY DOESN'T TAKE INTO CONSIDERATION THE INCONVENIENCE THE CUSTOMER FACES WHEN THEIR CAR IS DOWN.

THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

THE CONTACT HAD TO EXIT THROUGH THE TRUNK. THE ANTI-THEFT LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ANTI-THEFT FAILED TO ALLOW THE VEHICLE TO START. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNAVAILABLE.
CAR IS CAUSING THE BATTERY TO GO BAD. WHEN THE BATTERY GOES BAD THE WHOLE CAR STARTS ACTING UP; LOSE POWER STEERING, STEERING WHEEL LOCKS UP, DASH LIGHTS FLICKER UNTIL TURNED OFF, IN DASH SCREEN TURNS OFF BEFORE CAR DIES. AFTER I BOUGHT THE CAR THREE MONTHS LATER MY BATTERY WENT BAD (CAR STARTED ACTING FUNNY AND GRADUALLY DECLINED IN QUALITY OVER A WEEK'S TIME) I REPLACED THE BATTERY AND NOW 2 YEARS LATER THE BATTERY IS BAD AGAIN. THIS IS A DANGEROUS CAR TO BE IN AS THE WHOLE CAR DIES WHILE DRIVING AND THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKS UP ON THE HIGHWAY. THIS HAPPENS WHILE DRIVING. IT HAS HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY, INTERSTATE, PARKING LOT AND CITY STREET. TWO DIFFERENT BATTERIES SHOULD NOT GO BAD BEFORE THERE LIFE TIME. I BELIEVE THIS HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE CAR ITSELF AND ALSO THE CAR SHOULD NOT BE DESIGNED FOR THE STEERING WHEEL TO LOCK UP AND REMAIN SOLELY ON THE NORMAL BATTERY.
