TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL EXHIBITED A SLIGHT DELAY AND A JERKING MOTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS WHERE THEY INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE FAILURE WAS CONTRIBUTED TO A COMPUTER GLITCH. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 7,000.
WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH ON THE FREEWAY, THE STEERING WHEEL BECOME STIFF. WHEN TRYING TO MAKE A STEERING ADJUSTMENT TO THE RIGHT, THE STEERING WHEEL BECOME TIGHT AND HAD TO FORCE STEERING WHEEL TO MAKE THE MOVEMENT. IT WAS LIKE THE FEELING OF A TORQUE WRENCH REACHING THE REQUIRED TORQUE, THEN THE STEERING WHEEL JERKED TO THE RIGHT. THIS CONTINUED THE ENTIRE TIME DRIVING HOME FOR APPROXIMATELY 180 MILES. ALMOST EVERY TIME I WAS DRIVING STRAIGHT FOR A PERIOD OF TIME, THEN HAD TO MAKE AN ADJUSTMENT TO THE RIGHT, THIS WOULD HAPPEN. *TR
WHEN DRIVING STRAIGHT (MOST NOTABLE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS) THE STEERING FEELS STIFF ON CENTER. MINOR STEERING CORRECTIONS ARE BECOMING DIFFICULT DUE TO THE RESISTANCE FELT. *TR
THE FUEL MILEAGE IS VERY INCONSISTENT. IT CAN RANGE FROM AN AVERAGE OF 20 TO 28 AND HAS BEEN AS LOW AS 18 AND AS HIGH AS 29. BEFORE YOU DISMISS THIS COMPLAINT AS DRIVING CONDITIONS OR ROUT-THIS CAR TRAVELS THE SAME 8 MILE ROUT 4 DAYS A WEEK TO WORK AND NOT MUCH MORE THAN THAT IN AN AVERAGE MONTH. IT HAS BEEN ON HIGHWAY TRIPS AND NOT GOTTEN OVER 29 MPG. THE DEALER SAID IT WAS DUEL TO THE FUEL MIXTURE THAT I WAS PURCHASING. I HAVE TRIED EVERY BRAND OF GAS IN THE TOWN I LIVE IN AND IT DOES NOT HAVE A NOTICEABLE EFFECT ON THIS PROBLEM. DOES NOT ACHIEVE THE ADVERTISED MILEAGE. *TR
WHEN DRIVING IN A STRAIGHT LINE ONE HAS TO CORRECT TO KEEP ON GOING STRAIGHT AND IN DOING SO THERE IS A SLIGHT BUMP IN THE STEERING, ALMOST AS THOUGH THE STEERING WHEEL DOESN'T WANT TO TURN BUT WITH A LITTLE MOTE EFFORT IT GETS OVER THE BUMP. *TR
ERRATIC STEERING WHEN TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, WHEN IN THE LEFT LANE THE CAR WILL ALWAYS DRIFT TOWARDS THE DITCH AFTER A FEW FEET. WHEN IN THE RIGHT LANE THE CAR WILL ALWAYS DRIFT INTO THE LEFT LANE WITHIN A FEW FEET. ALSO HAVE ISSUE WITH A 'LOCK' IN THE STEERING WHEEL, WHEN DRIVING FOR A COUPLE OF MILES, WHEN TURNING LEFT OR RIGHT, HAVE TO GIVE STEERING WHEEL EXTRA PUSH TO MAKE IT MOVE, IT FEELS LIKE THE STEERING WHEEL IS LOCKED IN PLACE. EXTRA PUSH IS GIVEN THEN I OVER STEER INTO ANOTHER LANE AND NEED TO CORRECT INTO MY LANE. LOOKS LIKE I AM SWERVING WHEN THIS HAPPENS. *TR
STEERING BECAME STICKY STIFF IN 12 O'CLOCK POSTITION, MAKING STEERING CORRECTIONS DIFFICULT WITH OVERCORRECTING. THERE IS DEFINITELY A PROBLEM THAT COULD BE A SEVER SAFETY HAZARD. I WAS TRAVELING ON I-75 AT 65-70 MPH WHEN MALFUNCTION OCCURRED. I CONTACTED A DEALER IN TAMPA AND THEY DID NOT SEEM TOO CONCERNED, HARD TO COMMUNICATE DUE TO IT BEING A HOLIDAY WEEKEND. THE TAMPA DEALER ADVISED IF THERE WAS A PROBLEM, I WOULD HAVE RECEIVED A RECALL LETTER. I AM CONCERNED, BEING ON VACATION, FOR THE LONG TRIP BACK TO KNOXVILLE. ALSO, I HAVE EXPERIENCED TRANSMISSION SHUTTER AT LOW SPEED, INTERMEDIATE PROBLEM. *TR
DEAD SPOT AT DEAD CENTER. TAKES EXTRA FORCE TO MAKE VERY SMALL ADJUSTMENTS TO PUSH THROUGH THE FORCE - MAKING A MUCH LARGER OUTPUT THAN NORMAL INPUT. FEELS DANGEROUS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE STEERING WHEEL FAILED AS THE POWER STEERING WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. ON ANOTHER OCASSION, THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO DRIVE OUT PARK AND THE STEERING WHEEL FAILED. THE FAILURE WOULD OCCUR ON NUMEROUS OCASSIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER ON SEVERAL OCASSIONS FOR THE FAILURE WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER STEERING GEAR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED TWICE BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,692 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE 11,246. ON THE FIRST INCIDENT I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK. IT HAD BEEN RAINING EARLIER SO I WAS GOING SLOWER THAN USUAL. WHILE DRIVING THE STEERING WOULD VEER TO L OR R AND ACT AS IF IT WERE STIFFENING. I TOOK IT INTO THE DEALER WHO SAID THEY COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG THAT IT WAS PROBABLY "JUST THE RAIN". THE FOLLOWING WEEK IT DID THE SAME THING, NO RAIN! THIS HAS PROGRESSIVELY GOTTEN WORSE AND I HAVE TAKEN IN FOR A REPEAT TRIP TO BE TOLD THE SAME THING, TIRES ARE FINE, ETC.......YET WHILE TRAVELING DOWN HIGHWAY/INTERSTATE THE STEERING TENDS TO LOCK/STICK AND REQUIRE FORCE WHICH IS DANGEROUS! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, THE VEHICLE HESITATED AND POWERED DOWN AS THE ENGINE OVER SPEED AND SERVICE POWER STEERING WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE RESTARTED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED APPROXIMATELY THIRTY TIMES. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED ONLY AT 70 MPH OR HIGHER. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURRED, THE DOORS FAILED TO UNLOCK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 16,000.
TL-THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH OR GREATER THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE TECHNICIAN REPLACED AN UNKNOWN PART HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED AFTER THE REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,500. JS
I WAS GOING ABOUT 65 MPH ON THE FREEWAY AND THE STEERING WHEEL SUDDENLY BECOMES STIFF CAUSING ME TO JERK THE STEERING WHEEL A LITTLE BIT HARDER. THAT IS DANGEROUS BECAUSE IT CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO SWERVE AND POTENTIALLY GETTING INTO AN ACCIDENT. I AM NOT SURE WHAT THE ISSUE MIGHT BE IF IT IS A BRAND NEW CAR FRESH OFF THE LOT. *TR
VEHICLE SOLD AND DELIVERED WITH AN OPEN ACTIVE SAFETY RECALL (13142) ON IT AT TIME OF PURCHASE, WHICH WAS A VIOLATION OF FEDERAL LAW TITLE, 49 SUBTITLE VI, CHAPTER 301, SECTION 30112A3 RESTRICTING THE SALE (AND/OR INTRODUCING INTO COMMERCE) OF A VEHICLE WITH A SAFETY DEFECT. THIS INFORMATION IS CONSISTENT WITH THE INFORMATION IN GM RECALL BULLETIN #13142. DEALER SOLD HAVE NOT SOLD OR DELIVERED THE VEHICLE UNTIL THE RECALL WAS ADDRESSED. DEALER/CHEVROLET RISKED THE SAFETY OF THE VEHICLE OWNER AND GENERAL PUBLIC BY PLACING IT INTO COMMERCE WITH THE OPEN RECALL. *TR
I PURCHASED MY 2013 MALIBU LS IN SEPTEMBER, 2013 AND HAVE BEEN HAVING NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS SINCE. DURING THE FIRST FEW WEEKS OF ME HAVING THE CAR MY REAR DEFROST WAS NOT WORKING PROPERLY AND MY CAR WOULD SMELL LIKE AN ROTTEN EGG WHICH IT STILL DOES. I TOOK THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND OF COURSE THEY FOUND NOTHING WRONG. A FEW MONTHS LETTER MY BRAKES STATED GRINDING WHENEVER THE CAR WAS IN REVERSE (STILL DOES). THE DEALERSHIP FOUND NOTHING WRONG, BUT STATED THEY HAD SMOOTHED MY BRAKES. MY CAR HAS CUT OFF A TOTAL OF SEVEN TIMES AND THE DEALERSHIP FOUND NOTHING WRONG. SO I CALLED AND SPOKE WITH THE HEAD PERSON IN CHARGE OF THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND WAS TOLD IT COULD BE MY COMPUTER, BUT NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE TO CHECK THE COMPUTER. MY CAR LOSES POWER WHILE DRIVING AND HAS EVEN SPED UP ON ITS OWN. MY BRAKES, BRAKE HARD AS IF THEY?RE GETTING STUCK AT TIMES. WHEN I TURN ON THE CAR HOT AIR BLOWS AT FULL FORCE AND WILL NOT CUT OFF UNTIL THE CAR IS TURNED OFF. THE GLOVE BOX LIGHT SHINES IN THE FLOOR AND THE SEATBELT WOULD NOT LATCH. THE BEST PART OF IT ALL, WHILE THE DEALERSHIP HAD M CAR ONE OF THE WORKERS HIT SOMETHING, SO THEY HAD TO REMOVE MY FRONT BUMPER TO PAINT IT AND DID NOT PLACE IT ON CORRECTLY. MY CAR IS EXPERIENCING ALL OF THE ISSUES THAT ARE OUT ON RECALL, BUT I?M ALWAYS TOLD THE RECALL IS NOT FOR MY CAR. GM NEEDS TO TAKE FULL RESPONSIBILITY AND CORRECT THE ISSUES OR BUY BACK MY CAR. I REFUSE TO CONTINUE TO PAY FOR SOMETHING THAT IS NOT WORTH IT. *TR
IN ABOUT SEPTEMBER MY STEERING STARTED STICKING AT FREEWAY SPEEDS SINCE THEN IT IS GETTING WORSE HAVE NOT TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER YET, I PLAN TO DO SO A LITTLE WORRIED WITH READING WHAT ISSUES OTHER OWNERS HAVE HAD WITH THE DEALERSHIP. I FEEL THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY HAZARD AND CHEVROLET NEEDS TO LOOK INTO WHAT IS CAUSING THIS PROBLEM BEFORE THERE ARE SEVERAL FATALITIES! *TR
AS I AM DRIVING EITHER ON THE HIGHWAY AT OVER 70 MPH OR IN THE CITY I HAVE LOST ALL POWER TO THE VEHICLE. LOSS OF POWER STEERING, POWER BREAKS EVERYTHING. THE CAR SHUTS COMPLETELY DOWN AND JUST BEFORE ALL THE CHECK ENGINE AND SERVICE LIGHTS FLASH THROUGH. THIS HAS HAPPENED 4 TIMES AND THE LAST TIME I WAS PULLING INTO APPLE VALLEY MOTORS IN MARTINSBURG WV PARKING LOT, LOST POWER AND HIT THE CURB AND BLEW OUT A TIRE BECAUSE I LOST POWER STEERING. THE DEALER WILL DO NOTHING ABOUT IT THERE ARE MANY OF THE SAME COMPLAINTS FOR THE SAME PROBLEM ON CHEVY MALIBU FORUM. COM FINALLY SOMEONE SUGGESTED THAT WE SHOULD REPORT THE PROBLEM HERE. I HAVE HAD TO PUT 3 BATTERIES IN THE YEAR THAT I OWNED IT. NOT ONLY THIS BUT THE TRANSMISSION AND ENGINE BOTH WENT BAD AT THE SAME TIME. I ONLY HAVE 86K ON IT. I CONTACTED BOTH GM AND CHEVY AND EXPLAINED THE SITUATION AND NEITHER ONE WILL ASSIST ME. THEY GAVE ME A CASE NUMBER BUT IN THE END THEY SAID THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO BECAUSE ALL WARRANTIES HAVE EXPIRED. ( THEY EXPIRED BECAUSE OF THE DATE, I AM STILL UNDER THE MILEAGE PORTION OF THE WARRANTY) AS OF RIGHT NOW MY CAR IS AT THE DEALERSHIP BECAUSE I CAN'T AFFORD TO HAVE IT FIXED AND THE DEALERSHIP, GM/CHEVY OR THE THIRD PARTY WARRANTY THAT EXPIRED 8 DAYS AFTER THEY REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION WILL NOT HELP EITHER. LUCKILY I ONLY HIT A CURB AT A VERY SLOW SPEED. I COULD HAVE KILLED SOMEONE. THIS HAS HAPPENED BOTH ON THE HIGHWAY AND IN THE CITY WHILE I AM IN MOTION. THE DEALERSHIP THAT I PURCHASED IT AT HAD TO CHANGE THE BATTERY IN THE TRUNK DURING THE FIRST 30 DAYS THAT I OWNED IT. THAT FIXED THE PROBLEM FOR A WHILE. BUT I DON'T KNOW IF THAT IS THE CAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM OR NOT. THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED WAS APP 4 MONTHS AGO AND HAS HAPPENED A TOTAL OF 4 TIMES SINCE THEN. AND STILL THE NO ONE WILL HELP OR LOOK INTO THE ISSUE. THE MOST RECENT WAS LAST WEEK.
AT DIFFERENT SPEEDS THE STEERING WILL HAVE SOME FORM OF A DEAD SPOT IN IT. THIS STARTED AROUND 13000 AND I NOW HAVE OVER 20000 MILES ON IT.YOU WILL ATTEMPT TO GO LEFT OR RIGHT AND HAVE TO CORRECTED THE STEERING WITH ALOT MORE FORCE THAN NORMAL. THIS HAS OCCURRED AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AS WELL AS IN CITY TRAFFIC. ON 2 DIFFERENT OCCASIONS SO FAR IN CITY TRAFFIC, I HAVE ALMOST CAUSED WRECKS FROM THE CORRECTION. MY WIFE AND I BOTH HAVE EXPERIENCED THESE DEAD SPOTS EVERY SINGLE DAY THAT WE DRIVE THE CAR. TOOK IT IN TO THE DEALER TO TRY AND RESOLVE THE ISSUE. BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO RECREATE THE ISSUE. THE DEALER REPROGRAMMED THE STEERING ANGLE AND POSITION SENSOR CALIBRATION. AND NO CHANGE. THE DEALER TOLD ME THE VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH AN ELECTRIC POWER STEERING SYSTEM AND IS FAR MORE RESPONSIVE TO DRIVER INPUT. IT APPEARS TO ME THAT CHEVY HAS A BIG ISSUE WITH THIS YET WILL DO NOTHING ABOUT IT. ON THE CHEVY FORUM WE HAVE A THREAD THAT IS OVER 10 PAGES LONG AND GROWING WITH THIS SAME ISSUE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN THE SUN BEAMS ON THE SHINY INTERIOR TRIM IT WOULD IMPAIR THE CONTACTS VISION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. STEERING WAS GREAT UP TO ABOUT 7000 MILES, THEN GRADUALLY SEEM TO LOSE ITS CENTERING CAPABILITY. STEADY DRIVING, ESPECIALLY HIGHWAY CRUISING, BEGAN TO REQUIRE CONSTANT CORRECTIONS AND EACH CORRECTION BECAME AN OVERCORRECTION BECAUSE THE STEERING WHEEL SEEMED TO BE STUCK IN POSITION. THE JERK FROM BEING STUCK CAUSES ANOTHER OVERCORRECTION THE OTHER DIRECTION. DRIVING THE CAR HAS BECOME VERY ANNOYING, AND I SUSPECT WILL EVEN BECOME A HAZARD VERY SHORTLY. I NOW HAVE 12K MILES. MY SECOND VISIT TO THE DEALER (ABOUT 10K MILES) RESULTED IN NOT BEING ABLE TO FIND THE PROBLEM. WILL TRY AGAIN NEXT WEEK. *TR
GOT IN CAR & PUSHED THE PASSENGER WINDOW BUTTON DRIVER SIDE, WINDOW DID NOT GO DOWN, REACHED OVER TO THE PASSENGER SIDE & DID NOT GO DOWN. WENT TO DEALER & TRIED TO GET A REP TO COME TO THE CAR BEFORE I SHUT IT OFF BUT COULDN'T SO I TURNED OFF CAR & GOT A REP, WHEN WE GOT TO THE CAR AND TURNED IT ON THE WINDOW WORKED. THEY SAID BRING IT BACK WHEN IT'S NOT WORKING. I LEFT, GOT TO WHERE I WAS GOING, IT WOULD NOT ROLL UP. IT HAPPENED PERIODICALLY OVER TIME. FINALLY I WAS ABLE TO GET IT TO SERVICE & A REP WITNESSED THE WINDOW NOT WORKING. THEY FOUND A SHORT IN THE WINDOW SWITCH & REPLACED THE SWITCH W/2025110 .2 DIAG. WHATEVER THAT IS. IT IS STILL NOT WORKING RIGHT, TO THIS DAY. ON 2/14/15 I CALLED WALDORF SERVICE ABOUT THE PROBLEM WITH THE WINDOW, VOLTAGE FLUCTUATING FROM 11.43 TO 14.45, THE BATTERY CHARGE INDICATOR IS LOW MOST OF THE TIME & MY CAR WAS MAKING SICK AIRPLANE NOISES. I WAS TOLD THAT THEY WERE BUSY & THAT I WOULD GET A CALL BACK. HOWEVER THEY DID NOT, SO I TOOK THE CAR TO CHEVY ON 2/23/15 AND REPEATED THE ABOVE ISSUES AND HAD AN ADDED ISSUE CAR RADIO STAYED ON WHILE THE KEY WAS OUT OF THE IGNITION, BOTH CAR DOORS WERE OPEN. I HAVE A VIDEO OF THE INCIDENT. THEY ASKED ME TO LEAVE THE CAR SO I DID. I WAS TOLD THAT THE FLUCTUATING WAS NORMAL & THAT HYBRID/ECO VEHICLES MAKE THAT NOISE. I HAD TO TAKE IT BACK ON 3/20/15, THE NOISE WAS UNBEARABLE. I WAS TOLD I HAD TO WAIT ABOUT 15 MINUTES, I SAID I WILL WAIT. I WENT BACK TO MY CAR AND TURNED IT ON, NOT 3 MINS LATER A REP CAME OUT & SAID I HEAR IT, IT IS LOUD, SOMETHING IS WRONG. I FOUND OUT ON 3/22 THAT IT IS THE HYBRID MOTOR. WAS PROMISED IT BACK 3/24, THEY STILL HAVE IT. THEY WAITED UNTIL MY WARRANTY EXPIRED. ITS COVERED BUT NOT THE RENTAL CAR. I HAVE TO PAY FOR ALL BUT POSSIBLY 3 DAYS. I STILL HAVE TO FIGHT FOR REPAIRS TO MY PASSENGER WINDOW. I THINK I HAVE AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE. *TR
NEW CHEVY MALIBU 2013, CONTINUALLY FAILS TO RUN NORMAL. ELECTRIC SYSTEM AS WELL, AS ANY ELECTRONIC POWERED SYSTEMS TURN OFF WHILE "MID-DRIVING" RENDERING THE VEHICLE UNSAFE WITHOUT ANY GAUGE READOUTS AND OR LIGHTS AS WELL AS EXTERIOR LIGHTING. POTENTIALLY RENDERING DRIVERS( MY FAMILY) UNSAFE. VEHICLE HAS BEEN TAKEN BACK TO DEALER SHIP 4 TIMES TO HAVE "PART IN BATTERY" FIXED, AFTER EACH TIME VEHICLE RUNS FOR 1 WEEK AND FAILS AGAIN AS IT DID ON THE LATEST DATE 8 AUGUST 2013. *TR
WAS ENTERING PARKWAY AND CAR FAILED TO ACCELERATE BUT THE ENGINE WAS REVVING .CAR STOOD STILL AS IF IN NEUTRAL
I HAD AN INCIDENT WHERE THE AFTER THE CAR WAS PROPERLY PARKED, THE CAR SETTLED AND THE FRONT BUMPER CAUGHT THE PARKING STOPPED. I IMMEDIATELY RETURNED THE CAR, AND LEARNED FROM THE HERTZ AGENT THAT IT WAS THE UNDERCARRIAGE. I UNDERSTAND FROM OTHER COMPLAINTS THAT THE CAR DEALER WILL NOT EVEN COVER THE DEFECTIVE FLIMSY FRONT BUMPER LIP. THE OTHER COMPLAINTS ARE REGARDING THE POOR ASSEMBLY QUALITY....UPDATED 11-06-13 *BF

WENT TO TEST DRIVE 2013 CHEVY MALIBU. AS ALWAYS, I ADJUST MIRRORS BEFORE DRIVING. ONCE I CALLED ON STAR IT TOOK THEM THREE TIMES CALLING ME BACK TO GET ROAD SIDE ASSISTANCE ON THE PHONE. I WAS STUCK FOR TWO AND A HALF HOURS BEFORE THE TOW TRUCK EVEN ARRIVED. ONCE THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER ARRIVED I ASKED HIM WHAT HAPPENED TO ROAD SIDE ASSISTANCE HE TOLD ME THAT ON STAR JUST CALLED HIS OFFICE AND TOLD THEM THAT I NEEDED A TOW TRUCK TO TOW MY CAR THAT I ONLY HAD A FLAT TIRE. THAT COULD HAVE BEEN FIXED IF I WOULD HAVE HAD A SPARE TIRE INSTEAD OF A CAN OF GOO AND A TIRE PUMP. ONCE THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER GOT MY CAR LOADED THAT IS WHEN I LEANED THAT I COULD NOT RIDE IN THE TOW TRUCK. SO AFTER BEING STRANDED ON SIDE OF THE ROAD FOR TWO HOURS HAD TO WAIT ON A RIDE HOME AND THE DEALERSHIP CLOSED AT 5 PM SO, I STILL CAN'T GET MY CAR UNTIL THE NEXT DAY BECAUSE OF A FLAT TIRE THAT COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED IF I HAD A SPARE TIRE. WHILE DRIVING THE CAR, ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, THEN THE BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON. TOOK THE CAR TO DEALER FOR REPAIR ON JULY 11 AND WAS TOLD IT WAS THE MOTOR FOR THE FAN THAT COOLS THE BATTERY. DEALER REPAIRED AND RETURNED TO ME ON JULY 13. NOTED COVER ON AIRBAG ON STEERING WHEEL IS MALALIGNED, WHICH IS A NEW PROBLEM. TRAVELED OUT OF STATE WITH CAR AND FOUND CRUISE CONTROL AND TRIP ODOMETER NO LONGER WORK (WERE FINE PRIOR TO "REPAIR"). AFTER ARRIVING OUT OF STATE, THE MYLINK COMPUTER FAILED TO WORK THEN BEGAN TO WORK ABOUT TWO HOURS LATER. TOOK CAR TO DEALER WHO REFUSED TO TAKE IT AND TOLD ME TO COME BACK NEXT WEEK. WENT TO SECOND DEALER WHO HAS HAD CAR SINCE JULY 16. MEANWHILE, WE DISCOVERED THE CAR WAS UNDER RECALL AND DEALER SHOULD NOT HAVE SOLD PRIOR TO REPAIR. THIS CRITICAL REPAIR WAS NOT MADE AT THE FIRST OR SECOND DEALER. THIS IS AN INFERIOR PRODUCT, A VEHICLE WITH 668 ACTUAL MILES SHOULD NOT HAVE A FAN MOTOR PROBLEM. THE GAS CAP DOES NOT CLICK TO CLOSE EITHER. MY CAR HAS BEEN IN A DEALERSHIP GARAGE MORE THAN I HAVE ACTUALLY GOTTEN TO DRIVE IT; MY FIRST PAYMENT IS NOT EVEN DUE YET! THIS CAR IS A LEMON, I FEEL CHEATED AND MISLED BY CHEVY SINCE THEY HAD THE CHANCE TO FIX IT BEFORE THEY SOLD IT TO ME. NEXT DAY, 6/19/13, TOOK TIRE OFF VEHICLE AND BROUGHT TO (RINKE) SERVICE DEPT. FOR REPAIR AT COST OF $25.00. ASKED ABOUT REPAIR/REPLACEMENT OF CANISTER IN EMERGENCY REPAIR KIT. NO ONE AT DEALER SERVICE HAD EVER REPLACED THE CANISTER OR WERE FAMILIAR ON HOW TO REPAIR IT. WENT TO PARTS DEPT. TO PURCHASE A REPLACEMENT CANISTER - NONE AVAILABLE, WOULD HAVE TO BE ORDERED AT PRICE OF OVER $26.00. ASKED ABOUT PURCHASE OF DOUGHNUT EMERGENCY TIRE AND TOOL KIT - AGAIN, NONE AVAILABLE, WOULD HAVE TO BE ORDERED AT A PRICE OF OVER $400.00. WITH COMPLETE ABSENCE OF DEALER ASSISTANCE, I TOOK TIRE HOME AND INSTALLED ON VEHICLE. MY RESOLUTION TO AVOID A RECURRENCE OF THIS EVENT WAS TO GO TO OUR LOCAL BELL TIRE STORE AND PURCHASE A NEW WHEEL AND TIRE SO THAT MY HUSBAND (84 YEARS OLD) AND I (75 YEARS OLD) WOULD HAVE THE SECURITY OF A REPLACEMENT TIRE IF WE ENCOUNTERED A FLAT AGAIN. IN OUR OPINION, THE ELIMINATION OF THE EMERGENCY SPARE TIRE WAS A BAD MOVE, AND THE UNAVAILABILITY OF REPLACEMENT COMPONENTS IS A SAD AND DISCONCERTING CONDITION." *TR
GM REPLACED MY GENERATOR CONTROL MODULE ON JUNE 13 BECAUSE OF A RECALL. THE PROPER TESTS WERE NOT PERFORMED DUE TO THEM HAVING IT IN SHOP FOR 45 MINUTES (SEE RECALL DOCUMENTS). GCM WAS REPLACED AND I WAS SENT HOME WITH IT ON JUNE 13. ON JUNE 14, I STARTED THE CAR AND AN ERROR CODE APPEARED ON DIC FOR BATTERY. CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY ADVISED ME TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP (OVER 1 HOURS AWAY FROM MY HOUSE). EVERY SO OFTEN MY DIC WOULD SHOW A NEW ERROR CODE, I CONTACTED DEALERSHIP EACH TIME, I WAS ADVISED TO CONTINUE TO TRAVEL. I MADE IT 40 MINUTES INTO MY TRAVEL AND I HEARD A LOUD CLUNK. A FEW SECONDS LATER ALL THE ERROR CODES STARTED APPEARING ON DIC. THE POWER STEERING SHUT OFF ALL WHILE I WAS GOING 75 MILES ON THE INTERSTATE. I MANAGED TO GET THE CAR TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. MY CAR STARTED GOING CRAZY (WINDOWS ROLLED UP AND DOWN, WINDSHIELD WIPERS STARTED WORKING, AND RADIO SHUT ON AND OFF) ALL ON ITS OWN. MY ENTIRE CABIN FILLED UP WITH BLACK SMOKE AND THERE WAS A STRONG ODOR OF BURNING PLASTIC. THE CAR DIED WITHIN A FEW SECONDS OF GETTING THE CAR TO SHOULDER. I CONTACTED DEALERSHIP AGAIN AND ADVISED THEM WHAT WAS HAPPENING. THEY STATED THEY WERE CALLING A TOW TRUNK AND HUNG UP ON ME. TOW TRUCK COMPANY CONTACTED ME TO INQUIRE LOCATION THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER HAD AN EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TIME GETTING THE CAR ONTO THE TOW TRUCK. MY CAR WOULD NOT BUDGE AND HE WAS WORRIED ABOUT THE STRONG ODOR/SMOKE. HE LITERALLY HAD TO DRAG MY CAR ONTO THE TRUCK. I WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP AND PROVIDED A RENTAL CAR. I PICKED MY CAR UP ON JUNE 17, ALL THAT WAS REPLACED WAS GENERATOR CONTROL MODULE AGAIN. THIS CAR HAS BEEN IN AND OUT OF THE DEALERSHIP FOR RECALL WORK AT LEAST 9 MORE TIMES IN THE LAST YEAR. DEALERSHIP KEEPS CARS FOR DAYS - RETURNS TO ME AND SAYS "NO CODES ARE BEING THROWN ON MACHINE. CAR IS WORKING PROPERLY". *TR
FIRST NOTICED A CREASE IN REAR SEAT SIDE AIRBAGS CAUSED BY REAR DOOR PANEL RESTING ON IT RATHER THAN HAVING CLEARANCE. AFTER THE DOOR HAD BEEN OPENED/CLOSED THROUGH USE OVER A PERIOD OF ONLY 6 MONTHS, IT IS BEGINNING TO RUB A POSSIBLE HOLE IN THE MATERIAL CONTAINING THE AIRBAG. DEALERSHIP SERVICE MANAGER HAD NEVER SEEN BEFORE AND SUBSEQUENT CHECK OF SOME NEW MALIBUS STILL ON THE LOT REVEALED THAT ALMOST ALL HAD SOME SORT OF INDICATION OF THE SAME PROBLEM. DON'T KNOW WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF MATERIAL ON AIRBAG IS BREACHED WITH A HOLE. *TR
