WHILE MY WIFE WAS DRIVING HOME THE OTHER DAY ON A CITY STREET IN A 20 MILE ZONE THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WENT BLACK..TOOK TO DEALER THEY SAY THEY HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THIS ISSUE...SO I BELIEVED THEM...TILL I GET HOME AND DO A LITTLE RESEARCH...THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF THIS COMPLAINT HERE ON THIS SITE...NEXT DAY I GO TO SERVICE MANAGER...HIS REPLY I HAVE BEEN HERE 13 YEARS AND NEVER SEEN THIS...OH I THINK SOMEONE IS BLOWING SMOKE?? WHO KNOWS THE TRUTH?? I HAVE READ MANY COMPLAINTS OF THIS ISSUE...I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO EXCEPT PAY THESE GUYS...OH...ONE MORE THING BEFORE I GO...IF I ORDERED THE PART FROM THEM IT WAS 275.00...I SAID I WANT THE CORE TO HAVE IT INSPECTED. INDEPENDANTLY...OH THATLL BE 500.00 DOLLARS PLEASE....WHAT 500 FOR A CORE CHARGE...NOW IT REALLY SMELLS FISHY...SO I BOUGHT A NEW ONE FROM ANOTHER DEALER FOR 56.00....HOW DOES IT SMELL NOW ??..BIG CORPORATE COVER UP??...SEEMS THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH ABOUT 62 TO 75 K MILES WITH THIS MODEL
SERVICE AIR BAG LIGHT IS ON. KEEPS SHUTTING OFF AND COMING BACK ON
THE 2013 CHEVROLET MALIBU TURNS OFF OR COMPLETELY DE-ENERGIZES DURING OPERATION. ON THREE OCCASIONS OVER THE LAST 2 WEEKS, THE VEHICLE HAS TURNED OFF OR COMPLETELY DE-ENERGIZED WHILE TRAVELING SPEEDS OF BETWEEN 10 AND 35 MPH. ON ONE OCCASION, THE VEHICLE TURNED OFF OR COMPLETELY DE-ENERGIZED WHILE IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC. ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS, THE 2013 CHEVROLET MALIBU HAS TURNED OFF OR COMPLETELY DE-ENERGIZED IN THE MIDDLE OF A TURN. THIS OCCURRED ONCE IN THE FACE OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC DURING A LEFT TURN AT AN INTERSECTION AND ONCE DURING A RIGHT TURN.
I TEND TO KEEP HAVING ISSUES WITH MY BRAKES IN WARM WEATHER CONDITIONS ( 80) PLUS DEGREES. EVERY TIME I GO TO HIT MY BRAKES WHEN IT IS A HOT DAY OUT. MY BRAKE PEDAL STICKS DOWN AND DOESN'T COME BACK UP. WHEN THIS HAPPENS I HAVE TO USE MY FOOT TO TAKE THE TENSION OFF OF THE BRAKE PEDAL BY PULLING THE PEDAL BACK UP WITH MY FOOT. WHEN THE BRAKE STICKS LIKE THIS.. I CAN FEEL IT SLUGGING THE CAR DOWN UNTIL I PULL THE BREAK PEDAL BACK UP. IT IS VERY INTERESTING AS IT ONLY WILL DO IT WHEN THE WEATHER CONDITIONS ARE HOT OUT. WHEN IT IS A MILD TO COOLER DAY. I HAVE NO ISSUES AT ALL. THIS PROBLEM HAPPENS WHEN THE CAR IS IN MOTION AND EVERYTIME I HIT THE BRAKES, I HAVE TO EITHER REACH DOWN TO PULL THE PEDAL UP.. OR BRING IT BACK UP WITH MY FOOT.
BOTH THE TRANSMISSION AND ENGINE WENT OUT AT THE SAME TIME. I TOOK IT TO APPLE VALLEY MOTORS IN MARTINSBURG WV, A CHEVY DEALERSHIP. THEY CONTACTED THE THIRD PARTY WARRANTY COMPANY (PORTFOLIO) AND THEY MADE THE DEALERSHIP REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION WITH A JUNKYARD TRANSMISSION. BUT WHEN I TOOK IT IN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON AND I ASSUMED THAT IT WAS ON BECAUSE OF THE TRANSMISSION. BUT ALSO ASSUMED THAT BECAUSE IT WAS A DEALERSHIP WITH SPECIAL TRAINED TECHNICIANS THAT THEY WOULD CHECK ALL THE CODES AND CLEAR THEM BEFORE THEY RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO ME. WELL THEY DIDN'T AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS STILL ON WHEN I PICKED IT UP BUT THOUGHT MAYBE I HAD TO DRIVE IT A COUPLE MILES TO RESET THE LIGHT. WELL THE LIGHT DID GO OUT BUT CAME BACK ON ABOUT A WEEK LATER AND WHEN I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER THEY CALLED THE WARRANTY COMPANY AND THEY SAID THAT BECAUSE NOW THAT THE EXTENDED WARRANTY THAT I HAD, EXPIRED 8 DAYS PRIOR THAT THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. I CALLED BOTH GM AND CHEVY AND EXPLAINED THE SITUATION AND NEITHER ONE WILL ASSIST ME WITH THE PROBLEM ONLY BECAUSE THE POWER TRAIN WARRANTY EXPIRED EVEN THOUGH I HAVE LESS THAN A 100K ON IT. THEY GAVE ME A CASE NUMBER BUT IN THE END THEY SAID THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. NO WAY SHOULD BOTH THE ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION GO BAD AT THE SAME TIME ESPECIALLY WITH LESS THAN 100K ON IT. THIS IS IN ADDITION TO ANOTHER COMPLAINT THAT I JUST FILED WITH YOU REGARDING THE CAR LOOSING ALL POWER WHILE I AM DRIVING. THAT PROBLEM HAPPENED ON BOTH THE HIGHWAY AT OVER 70 MPH AND IN THE CITY AT SLOWER SPEEDS. IN ADDITION TO THE TRANSMISSION AND ENGINE GOING OU, 30 DAYS PRIOR THE HYDROLIC TRANSMISSION LINES BLEW OUT WHILE I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY AND I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED AND IT COST ME ABOUT 900.00 OUT OF POCKET BECAUSE IT WAS WAS NOT COVERED BY THE WARRANTY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED UPON ENTERING THE VEHICLE SHE NOTICED AN ABNORMAL SMELL COMING FROM THE INTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE WITH WARNING. THE CONTACT OPENED THE HOOD AND NOTICED OIL LEAKED ALL UNDERNEATH THE HOOD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MARSHFIELD MOTOR CO LOCATED AT (14963 MO-38, MARSHFIELD, MO 65706) TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED USING A SEALANT HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 36,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED AND THE ENTIRE INSTRUMENT PANEL WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE JERKED WHILE THE FAILURE OCCURRED. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO BE DIAGNOSED UNLESS THE FAILURE OCCURRED IN THEIR PRESENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 147,000.
WHILE DRIVING 385 MILES FROM HOME THE DASHBOARD BATTERY LIGHT COMES ON. WE HAD JUST REPLACED THE BATTERY 1 MONTH PRIOR TO THIS EVENT. TURNED THE CENTER SCREEN TO THE VOLT METER TO WATCH THE CAR SLOWLY DRAIN THE NEW BATTERY. THE VOLTAGE WOULD GO DOWN, THEN GO UP, BUT NEVER AS FAR AS IT WAS BEFORE THE DECLINE. PULLED THE CAR INTO A SUPERCENTER PARKING LOT AND LOST ALL POWER STEERING, ALL POWER BRAKES, THERE WAS ABSOLUTELY NO WARNING THIS WAS GOING TO HAPPEN, THANK GOODNESS I GOT OFF THE FREEWAY. AT 80 MPH THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN NO CONTROL. WE HAD JUST ENOUGH ENGINE TO LIMP THE CAR INTO A PARKING SPACE AND AVOID GETTING HIT BY OTHER CARS IN THIS BUSY PARKING LOT. BOUGHT NEW BATTERY TESTER, NEW BATTERY, AND TOOLS TO THE SUM OF $250.00 MAKE NECESSARY REPAIRS IN PARKING LOT. I HAD NO CHOICE, WE WERE STRANDED FAR FROM HOME IN 97 DEG. HEAT. TURNED NORTH TO HEAD HOME, WHILE WATCHING THE CAR DEVOUR A BRAND NEW BATTERY. ONCE AGAIN THE VOLT METER FROM 14.4 VOLTS TO 13.5, THEN BACK TO 14.3 TO 13.4 THE NEW BATTERY WAS GOING TO HAVE A SHORT LIFE. WE MADE IT 50 MILES ON THE FREEWAY AND THE VOLT METER WAS DOWN TO 11.8 FROM A NEW 14.4 WHEN PURCHASED. TURNED TO THE NEAREST TOWN 35 MILES EAST. WORRIED THE CAR WAS GOING TO SHUT DOWN ON A TWO LANE HIGHWAY TRAVELING AT 80 MPH. HOPING THE STEERING WOULD NOT GO OUT WITH OUT WARNING AGAIN. THE SCARIEST SITUATION I HAVE EVER BEEN IN, THERE WAS NO WHERE FOR US TO GO IF IT DID. MADE IT TO A LOCAL AUTO PARTS STORE, JUST TO FIND OUT THAT IN 85 MILES THE CAR HAD DRAINED THE NEW BATTERY WE GOT A JUMP START AND LIMPED TO A LOCAL HOTEL. ONCE AGAIN HAVING TO PULLOUT ONTO A BUSY HIGHWAY WITH NO STEERING, NO BRAKES, AND NO WAY HOME. WE CALLED A FAMILY MEMBER AND THEY SET OFF ON THE 5 HR DRIVE TO COME TOW US HOME. WE RENTED A CAR DOLLY AND PULLED OUR BROKEN CAR THE ENTIRE WAY HOME. IT SITS IN THE DRIVE WAY AS I TYPE THIS GIVING NO CODES FOR ME TO FOLLOW.
AS I WAS DRIVING 35 MPH ON A BUSY DOWNTOWN LOCATION IN MY AREA OF NEW ORLEANS, MY 2013 CHEVY MALIBU DECIDED TO SHUT DOWN ON ME. AT FIRST WHEN I STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT, THE CAR STALL AS THOUGH IT WANTED TO CUT OFF BUT IT DIDN'T AT THAT MOMENT. WHEN I MADE IT TO THE SECOND RED LIGHT THE CAR SHUT COMPLETELY OFF THEN CAME RIGHT BACK ON. I WAS TERRIFIED AS MY 12 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER SAT IN THE BACK SEAT OF THE CAR SO I DECIDED TO HEAD HOME WHICH WAS 15 MINS FROM THE LOCATION WHERE I WAS PLUS I ALSO HAD TO TRAVEL OVER A BUSY MISSISSIPPI RIVER BRIDGE TO GET TO MY HOUSE FROM THAT LOCATION. AS I WAS MAKING MY WAY BACK TOWARDS THE BRIDGE TO GET HOME, I NOTICE DIFFERENT SIGNALS FLASHING ACROSS MY DASHBOARD, THEN THE CAR SHUT DOWN COMPLETELY GIVING ME LITTLE TO NO TIME TO MAKE A DECISION TO PULL OVER. THE STEELING WHEEL LOCKED UP GIVING ME NO CONTROL AS TO WHICH WAY TO STEER THE VEHICLE, CAR COMPLETELY DEAD. I WAS SO BLESSED THAT NO CARS WAS IN THE WAY OF WHERE THE CAR WAS GOING. THE CAR REFUSED TO START AGAIN AND KEY GOT STUCK . I HAD TO GET IT TOWED HOME. I'M BEGGING CHEVY, PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS ISSUE. I HAVE SEEN LOTS OF REVIEWS REGARDING THESE MAKE AND MODELS AND IT LOOKS LIKE NOTHING IS BEING DONE. I HAD A 2006 CHEVY MALIBU WHICH I LOVED SO MUCH THAT I DECIDED TO TRUST CHEVY WITH MY NEXT CAR. AS I CLOSED MY EYES THAT NIGHT I COULD ONLY IMAGINE WHAT COULD HAVE HAPPEN IF I WAS ON THAT BRIDGE HEADING HOME WITH CARS TRAVELING 60-70MPH? WHAT IF I WAS INFRONT OF A RIVER, ON A TRAIN TRACK, IN FRONT OF A BIG BODY VEHICLE SUCH AS A BUS OR 18-WHEELER OR SOMEONE WALKING IN THE DIRECTION THE CAR WAS GOING? SOMEONE, IF HAVEN'T ALREADY COULD TRULY CAUSE DAMAGE TO THEIR LIFE OR SOMEONE ELSE'S LIFE. PLEASE CHEVY THINK ABOUT THE FAMILY LIVES WHICH ARE BEING PUT IN DANGER, EVEN THE DEALERSHIP'S DONT TRULY KNOW THE ISSUES.
THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM WILL RANDOMLY SHUTS DOWN. USUALLY STARTS WITH THE ENTERTAINMENT CONSOLE, AND PROGRESSES TO THE POWER STEERING, AND EVENTUALLY A FULL POWER SHUT DOWN. STATIONARY OR WHILE DRIVING, DOESN'T MATTER, COMPLETE SHUT DOWN. VEHICLE DOES RESTART AS IF NOTHING HAPPENED. DEALERSHIP AND GM NO HELP. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN ONGOING SINCE 2018 WITH MULTIPLE DEALERSHIP SERVICES, AND 2 SEPERATE COMPLAINTS TO GM. 2 NEAR MISS COLLISIONS DUE TO POWER STEERING LOSS.
GENERATOR CONTROL MODULE- ENGINE IS STALLING AND COMPLETELY SHUTTING OFF WHEN STOPPED OR SLOWING DOWN AT INTERSECTION OR STOPPED AT LIGHTS OR STOP SIGNS. SWITCHING FROM HYBRID TO GAS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE CHARGING SYSTEM ERROR WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE BATTERY DID NOT HOLD A CHARGE. AN UNKNOWN LOCAL DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY INSPECTED FOR THE FAILURE. NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO AN DEALER OR INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 96,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEED, THE VEHICLE WOULD SUDDENLY REDUCE SPEED. THE ENGINE HAD SUDDENLY SHUT OFF. THE FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY A PIN HOLE IN THE ENGINE AND FAULTY OIL PUMP. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS THE MESSAGE 'REDUCED ENGINE POWER' WOULD DISPLAY AND THE VEHICLES SPEED WOULD DECREASE. ALSO, WHILE IDLING THE ENGINE WOULD SUDDENLY SHUT OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN THE LOCAL DEALER SMITH CHEVROLET (1601 AUTO MALL DR. TURLOCK, CA) WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY A FAULTY OIL PUMP AND LOW OIL PRESSURE CAUSED BY A PIN HOLE IN THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000.*BF*JB
2013 MALIBU ECO EASSIST THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS TYPE OF CAR, THE CAR IS IN THE SHOP AND NEED A GENERATOR CONTROL MODULE..ACCORDING TO HER VIN # THEY ARE SAYING THAT IT DOESN'T APPLY TO THIS VEHICLE.. BUT IT'S THE SAME TYPE OF CAR THAT THE RECALL IS ON. THE CAR WHILE RUNNING ON HIGHWAY FOR 50 MILES OR MORE WILL START THE LOSS OF BATTERY CHARGING. IF YOU CONTINUE TO DRIVE THE CAR WILL CUTOFF AND HAVE TO BE TOWED. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON TWO OR THREE OCCASIONS.
19 AUGUST 2019 ON THIS DAY TWICE I EXPERIENCE LOSS OF POWER ON THE VEHICLE AND POWER STEERING. LUCKILY I DID NOT HIT ANY CARS. WAS DRIVING BELOW 35 MPH THE FIRST INCIDENT IS WHEN I CAME TO A RED LIGHT THE RADIO TURN OFF FIRST THEN THE CAR FELT SLUGGISH AND THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN LOST CONTROL OF EVERYTHING AND WAS COASTING. VEHICLE GAIN POWER BY IT SELF AND RESUME OPERATIONS. DURING EVERY LIGHT I STOP IT FELT LIKE IT WANTED TO LOSE POWER. CAME TO A PARKING LOT DRIVING AROUND 5 MPH COMPLETELY THE CAR SHUT OFF FIRST RADIO AND THEN WHOLE VEHICLE THIS TIME IT DID NOT GAIN POWER BY IT SELF. HAD TO PLACE THE VEHICLE IN PARK TURN THE KEY OFF AND RESTART IT WAS ABLE TO PARK IT. AFTER READING HERE SEEMS A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE HAVING THIS ISSUE AN IMMEDIATE INVESTIGATION SHOULD BE OPEN BECAUSE THIS CAN POSSIBLY HAPPEN IN THE HIGHWAY IF I LOSE CONTROL POWER IN THE POWER STEERING I COULD POTENTIALLY CRASH OF GET HIT BY A CAR . CALL GM AND THEY SAID THEY DO NOT HAVE A BULLETIN ASK THEM FOR AN ADDRESS TO SUBMIT A FORMAL COMPLAINT AND WAS GIVEN ONE. I DON'T THINK GM CARES HOPEFULLY YOU GUYS CAN LOOK INTO THE ISSUE AND GET AND ANSWER AS TO WHY IS HAPPENING CONSUMERS SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY A DIAGNOSTIC FEE AND NOT GET ANSWERS
THE CHARGING SYSTEM WENT COMPLETELY DEAD WHILE DRIVING. I HAD NO POWER STEERING EVERYTHING WENT BLACK NO SPEED, NO LIGHTS, I COULDN'T EVEN TURN ON MY HAZARDS WHILE I WAS SITTING IN THE MIDDLE LANE OF THE INTERSTATE HOPING I WOULDN'T GET KILLED BECAUSE OF THIS. WHY IS THERE NO WARNING TO LET YOU KNOW YOUR BATTERY AND CHARGING SYSTEM IS DEAD. WHY IS THIS NOT A RECALL FROM CHEVY? PLEASE ADVISE.
USING TURN SIGNAL OR POWER WINDOWS THE VEHICLE DIES AND QUICKLY RESTARTS. ALL POWER IS LOST MOMENTARILY. HAPPENS WHEN BATTERY VOLTAGE IS BELOW 13.5 VOLTS. LOSS OF POWER STEERING ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT TWICE. IT WAS NOT WET OUT OR RAINING, HAD BEEN DRY FOR SEVERAL DAYS SO WEATHER DOES NOT SEEM TO BE TRIGGERING THE ISSUE. SERVICE STABIL TRAK WARNING ALSO FLASHED IN AND CLEARED UPON POWER DISRUPTION.
WAS DRIVING ALONG ABOUT 35 MPH WHEN CAR SUDDENLY SHUTS OFF AND POWER STEERING IS GONE CAUSING ME TO ALMOST GO OFF THE ROAD. VERY DANGEROUS PLEASE MAKE THE RECALL PUBLIC.
CAR WAS JERKING WHILE ACCELERATING HAPPENED FOR ABOUT 5 MINS THEN CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON
COMING HOME FROM WORK ON 8/6/2019 TRAVELING DOWN MD-210 HIGHWAY, WITH CAR MOTION, THE RADIO CUT OFF AND THEN ENTIRE CAR SHUT OFF. WE STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT, SO MY HUSBAND TOOK THE KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION RESTARTED THE CAR AND WE TRAVELED HOME. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME, WE HAD OUR CAR CHECKED AT OUR MECHANIC'S SHOP BUT AT THE TIME HE COULD NOT DETERMINE WHAT THE ISSUE COULD BE AND COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE ISSUE. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME, THE RADIO CUTS OFF, INSTRUMENT DASH LIGHTS, CUTS OFF AND THE THE POWER STEERING SHUTS DOWN JUST FOR A COUPLE OF SECONDS, IT HAPPENED WHEN WE TRAVELED TO WORK, MY HUSBAND TURNED THE STEERING WHEEL RIGHT TO GET ON THE HIGHWAY, THE RADIO WENT OFF FOR A FEW SECONDS THEN IT CAME BACK HOME. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND GOD FORBID IF THIS HAPPENS WHILE CAR IN MOTION ON A GREEN LIGHT IT COULD KILL SOMEONE. PLEASE RECALL THIS VEHICLE ASAP.
VAPOR AND SMELL COME FROM VENTS WHEN DRIVING OR STATIONARY. WHEN THE DEFROSTER IS ON, IT STEAMS UP THE WINDOW SO BAD IN SOME CASES THAT I CAN NO LINGER SEE OUT OF THE WINDOW SAFELY. I HAVE MULTIPLE VIDEOS, BUT ARE TOO LARGE TO ATTACH.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE DIMMER SWITCH AND BATTERY WERE DRAINED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. WHILE DRIVING, THE DASHBOARD INSTRUMENT CLUSTER WILL INTERMITTENTLY TURN OFF AND THEN BACK ON.THIS HAPPENS IRREGARDLESS OF SPEED, TEMPERATURE, PASSENGERS, TURNING, ACCELERATING, ETC. THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN BROUGHT TO THE ATTENTION OF ASE CERTIFIED MECHANIC IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD WHO INSTRUCTED THAT IT WAS A FAULTY WIRE THAT THERE WAS NO REPLACEMENT FOR YET. AFTER SEARCHING THE INTERNET FORUMS, AND OTHER MEDIUMS, THIS SEEMS TO BE A PRETTY COMMON OCCURRENCE. PLAN TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP WITHIN THE NEXT COUPLE MONTHS AS LONG AS THE PROBLEM DOES NOT WORSEN. TAKATA RECALL I HAVE A 2013 CHEVY MALIBU ECO WITH ROUGHLY 89K MILES. MY 'SERVICE AIRBAG' LIGHT CAME ON RANDOMLY AS I WAS PULLING INTO MY DRIVEWAY ON JULY 27, 2019. I HAVE NOT HAD AN ACCIDENT IN MY CAR, AND I THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I'VE EVER SEEN THIS LIGHT. I REMEMBER A FEW YEARS BACK, I RECEIVED A NOTICE IN THE MAIL FROM THE DEALERSHIP ABOUT A RECALL ON AIRBAGS (SOMETHING RELATED TO THE DEPLOYMENT) AND I WENT AND GOT IT SERVICED. WELL IT'S 2-3 YRS LATER AND MY AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON. I'M CONCERNED IF THIS IS RELATED TO THE TAKATA RECALL AS WELL. I CAN'T UNDERSTAND WHY MY 'SERVICE AIRBAG' LIGHT WOULD POP ON SO RANDOMLY.

A FEW TIMES THAT I HAVE BEEN DRIVING MY CAR, I HAVE EXPERIENCED ISSUES WITH THE CAR TURNING OFF AND LOSING POWER STEERING AND CONTROL WHILE IN MOTION. MY BATTERY COMPLETELY DIED AND I NEEDED A JUMP. THE JUMP ENDED UP NOT WORKING SO I PURCHASED A NEW BATTERY. NOW THE AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON AND WILL NOT GO OFF. THE A/C BLOWS OUT HOT AIR. SINCE I'VE BEEN CONSISTENTLY BLOWING IT OR TRYING TO BECAUSE IT IS SUMMER, MY CAR STARTING JERKING. IT MIGHT WORK EVERY NOW AND AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS JUMPSTARTED AND DRIVEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DETERMINED THAT THE CAMSHAFT FAILED AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE PERFORMED NORMALY FOR A WEEK, BUT LATER WOULD NOT START AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE SAME INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DETERMINED THAT THE VARIABLE VALVE TIMING INTAKE AND EXHAUST FAILED AND NEEDED REPAIRS. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BOTH TIMES. THE MECHANIC ALSO STATED THAT THE WIRING ON THE BATTERY WAS DONE IMPROPERLY. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 89,080.
SOMETIMES IT HAPPENS WHEN I TURN ON MY BLINKER OTHERS ITS RANDOM BUT THE CAR STALLS AND THE RADIO TURNS OFF ALONG WITH THE POWER STEERING.
My driver seat is powered and it is inoperative. It remains stuck in a reclined position. At first the seat would not return to an upright position but all the other power functions (reclining the seat, moving it forward and back, tilting the seat, moving it up/down) still worked. I took the car to a shop and they said that the cause was some of the wiring had disconnected. They took the seat out and made sure everything was plugged in correctly. The seat worked again but only for a short while. Now, the issue is present again and the driver seat will not move forward/back or return to an upright position. This is hazardous because the seat is not able to offer the driver the correct seating position to drive.
TAKATA RECALL THE LIGHTS ON MY DASH KEPT GOING IN AND OUT WHILE I WAS DRIVING AND WHILE STATIONARY. WHILE MY CAR WAS OFF, WITH NO KEY IN THE IGNITION, THE GAUGES WOULD MAKE CLICKING SOUNDS AND BOUNCE UP AND DOWN ABOUT AN 8TH OF AN INCH. THE LIGHTS ON THE DASH WOULD STAY OFF FOR DAYS AT A TIME, MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE FOR ME TO SEE HOW FAST I WAS GOING OR HOW MUCH GAS WAS IN THE CAR. SOMETIMES THE LIGHTS WOULD CLICK ON FOR ABOUT 30 SECONDS AND THEN THE SPEEDOMETER WOULD BE STUCK AT THE LAST SPEED I WAS GOING AT, FOR DAYS, WITHOUT SHOWING ANYTHING ON THE DIGITAL SPEEDOMETER. WHEN I TOOK IT TO GET LOOKED AT, NO CODES WERE FOUND. MY CAR KEPT DYING WHILE I WAS DRIVING, WENT AND HAD MY BATTERY AND ALTERNATOR TESTED AND THEY WERE 100% FINE. CAR DASH LIGHTS STARTED FLASHING ON AND OFF WHILE I WAS GOING AROUND A CURVE. CHECK ENGINE, OIL, WIPER FLUID, GAS LIGHT, EVERYTHING FLASHED ON AND OFF, THEN MY STEERING LOCKED UP, CAUSING ME TO GO OFF OF THE ROAD AND HIT A TREE. MY CAR WAS TOTALED.
AC CONTROL NOT SEND SIGNAL TO AC COMPRESSOR. STUCK IN HEAT ON LAST SETTING I HAD THE CONTROL ON. I BOUGHT NEW AC COMPRESSOR BECAUSE WAS TOLD THE AC COMPRESS HAS POWER BUT NOT WORKING. VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING AT 65MPH ON A HIGHWAY. BRAKES WERE APPLIED SUDDENLY TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT WHEN THE POWER BRAKE BOOSTER FAILED RESULTING IN ESSENTIALLY NO BRAKING ABILITY AT ALL. THE BRAKE BOOSTER FAILED A SECOND TIME AFTER BEING REPLACED FROM THE INITIAL INCIDENT. LUCKILY THIS HAPPENED IN A PARKING LOT AT SLOW SPEED, BUT THE CAR HAS NO BRAKING CAPABILITY TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT, IT TAKES SEVERAL DOZEN CAR LENGTHS TO STOP THE VEHICLE EVEN AT SLOW SPEEDS. INCIDENTS WERE ABOUT 2 YEARS APART, THE MOST RECENT BEING ON 06/03/19. I SEE NO ACTIVE RECALLS ON THE POWER BRAKE BOOSTER BUT IT SEEMS UNUSUAL TO HAVE 2 FAILURES OF THIS CRITICAL ITEM.

WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY MY CAR WILL JUST SHUT DOWN COMPLETELY THEN TURN BACK ON. SOMETIME THE RADIO WILL GO OUT WITH POWER STEERING, ETC. IT JUST SHUTS DOWN FOR NO REASON. WE'VE REPLACEMENT THE BATTERY CABLE SEVERAL MONTHS AGO AS WE HAD THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM AND IT WORKED FOR ABOUT 6 MONTHS. IF I USE MY TURN SIGNAL SOMETIMES IT WILL SHUT DOWN AND TURN BACK ON. DID IT ABOUT 20 TIMES TODAY ON THE WAY TO WORK. WITH MY TWO SMALL CHILDREN IN THE CAR WITH ME. I AM USUALLY DRIVING AROUND 65 TO 75 MPH WHEN THIS HAPPENS.
EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION REGARDING THE ECOTEC 2.4L ENGINE (LUK). I HAD PURCHASED MY VEHICLE IN SEPTEMBER OF 2018 WITH 87,932 MILES. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED AND SERVICED. PRIOR TO REACHING THE RECOMMENDED 7500 MILE OIL CHANGE INTERVAL AND BEFORE THE 'CHANGE OIL SOON' NOTIFICATION, MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO A CERTIFIED GM DEALERSHIP TO BE DIAGNOSED ON DECEMBER 14TH 2018. IT WAS NOTED THE VEHICLE WAS 3 QUARTS LOW ON OIL AT 94,530 MILES. I CONTINUED TO MONITOR THE OIL LEVELS THERE AFTER UNTIL MY NEXT SERVICING AT 97,063 MILES, AGAIN THE OIL WAS LOW BUT WITHIN MARGIN AS I HAD TOPPED OFF AS NEEDED. NOW WITH MY VEHICLE AT 100,134 MILES AND STILL LOSING OIL I AM CONCERNED THAT THE ENGINE IS PLAGUED BY THE SAME PROBLEM AS FOUND IN THE 2.4L (LEA) FOUND IN THE EQUINOX AND GMC TERRAIN. IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THERE WAS A MANUFACTURERS DEFECT WITH THE PISTON RINGS COMBINED WITH THE OIL SPRAY COOLING THAT LEAD TO GM ISSUING A SPECIAL WARRANTY COVERAGE TO THE LEA VARIANT HOWEVER NO COVERAGE WAS EXTENDED TO THE LUK VARIANT. IT IS ALSO TO MY UNDERSTANDING THAT THERE IS NO DISCERNIBLE DIFFERENCE INTERNALLY BETWEEN BOTH VARIANTS WITH THE LUK ENGINE SLIGHTLY MODIFIED TO SUPPORT THE (BAS) BELT ALTERNATOR STARTER MILD HYBRID DRIVETRAIN. BOTH STILL CONTAIN THE SAME PISTONS, PISTON RINGS, AND OIL JET SPRAY TECHNOLOGIES. AT THIS POINT I HAVE RAISED MY CONCERNS WITH GM AND HAVE SCHEDULED A OIL CONSUMPTION TEST TO BE DONE (RULED TO BE UNRELIABLE IN THE LAWSUIT REGARDING LEA TYPE ENGINES). I AM ALSO RAISING MY CONCERNS HERE AS WELL AS I BELIEVE THIS TO BE A SAFETY ISSUE AS A RESULT OF MANUFACTURE DEFECT AND I BELIEVE GM INTENDS TO SKIRT THE ISSUE BY ONLY ADDRESSING THE TYPE OF ENGINE INVOLVED IN THE ORIGINAL LAWSUIT AND ONLY THOSE VEHICLES FOR WHICH THEY WERE EQUIPPED.
