FUEL GAUGE NOT WORKING PROPERLY CAUSING TRUCK TO STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF A FOUR LANE ROAD THIS GAS GAUGE PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED IN MY OTHER VEHICLE A 1997 MONTE CARLO AND MY DAUGHTERS LUMINA,SO THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED INCIDENT. A PROBLEM OF THIS KIND COULD BE VERY DANGEROUS ON AN EXPRESSWAY. *NLM
THE VEHICLE HAS ALWAYS BEEN HARD TO SHIFT. WHILE SHIFTING FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION CONTROLLER( METAL PIECE INSIDE STEERING COLUMN ATTACHED TO LINKAGE) BROKE IN HALF, ALSO THE THREADED PIECE THAT IT WAS BOLTED TO BROKE, IT IS ALL MADE OF A SOFT TYPE METAL. *JB
ADD MY 2000 CHEVROLET SIVERADO TO THE LIST OF TRUCKS WITH BROKEN TAILGATE SUPPORTS (EA04005). FORTUNATELY ONLY ONE BROKE BEFORE I NOTICED AND REPLACED IT.*AK
THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM AS RECALL (ANTI LOCK BRAKE), #00V055000, HOWEVER THE VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. *JB
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED SUDDEN ACCELERATION. *NLM
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP. THE VEHICLE PROCEEDED TO SLOW DOWN AT A VERY SLOW PACE. HE WAS ABLE TO MANEUVER THE VEHICLE OFF THE HIGHWAY AND DROVE TO A LOCAL SERVICE STATION. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE REAR BRAKES FAILED. THE ROTORS, CALIPER, AND 4 WHEEL DRIVE BRAKE DISCS WERE REPLACED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THE FRONT AND REAR PADS WERE REPLACED. IT WAS ALSO DISCOVERED THAT THE FRONT ROTORS WERE WARPED AND THE OXYGEN SENSOR WAS REPLACED. THE CONTACT HAS BEEN IN FIVE CRASHES DUE TO THE BRAKE FAILURE. WHILE DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP. THE MANUFACTURER OFFERED $1,000 TOWARD THE PURCHASE OF A NEW VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 26,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 61,000.
MY 2000 CHEVROLET 2500 SILVERADO THROTTLE STICKS SHUT WHEN FIRST STARTED. MINE HAS A 6.0 LITER V-8, BUT I KNOW SEVERAL PEOPLE WITH DIFFERENT ENGINES AND MODEL YEARS WITH THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. THE PEDAL STICKS SO HARD THAT IT TAKES A GREAT DEAL OF EFFORT TO MAKE IT RELEASE RESULTING IN LARGE BURST OF SPEED AND LOSS OF CONTROL. THE DEALERS REFUSE TO CORRECT EXCEPT UNDER WARRANTY WHICH I NO LONGER HAVE. THE FACTORY KNOWS THERE IS A PROBLEM AND DEALERS ACKNOWLEDGE AS WELL BUT WILL NOT CORRECT WITHOUT BEING PAID. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM. WE HAVE HAD SEVERAL NEAR MISSES. *NLM
FUEL THROTTLE BODY-IT SEEMS THAT THE GAS PEDAL IS HARD TO PUSH. WHEN WE SPOKE WITH THE CHEVROLET DEALER ABOUT THIS PROBLEM, ALL THEY WOULD SAY IS THAT THEY ARE AWARE THAT IT MIGHT BE A PROBLEM, BUT IT IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY. BUT THEY WOULD BE HAPPY TO CHECK IT FOR US FOR A NOMINAL SUM OF $150.00 PLUS ANY PARTS. IF THIS WAS LISTED ON A SERVICE ADVISORY, BUT AS YET I HAVE NOT SEEN ANY RECALL. THIS IS A ONGOING PROBLEM, TODAY I HAD TO PUT THE TRUCK IN PARK AND LITERALLY STOMP ON THE GAS PEDAL MORE THAN 6 TIMES BEFORE IT WOULD FINALLY BREAK LOOSE AND RELEASE. MY 2000 CHEVY SILVERADO HAS A VERY DANGEROUS ABS MALFUNCTION WHICH CAUSED A PROPERTY DAMAGE ACCIDENT WITH $2000.00 OF DAMAGE. GM HAS BEEN USELESS TO ME, THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL ITEM, AND THEY REFUSE TO FIX IT FOR FREE. THE DEALER I BOUGHT MY TRUCK AT, ROMANO CHEVY IN SYRACUSE, STATED THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH 2000 SILVERADOS. I HAVE PAID FOR MANY OTHER REPAIRS, BUT I FEEL THAT A DEFECTIVE BRAKING SYSTEM SHOULD BE SOMETHING THAT THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD FIX FOR FREE AND DO A RECALL SO THAT PEOPLE DON'T GET INTO AN ACCIDENT LIKE I DID. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, HE DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND HEARD THE SQUEAK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY STATED THAT THE RIGHT BRAKE PAD WAS WORN QUICKER THAN USUAL AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED FIVE TIMES AFTER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 22,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
THE GAS PEDAL STICKS SOMETIMES. IN ORDER TO ACCELERATE, YOU MUST PRESS THE PEDAL HARD AND THEN THE TRUCK TAKES OFF. THERE'S NO STEADY ACCELERATION. *NLM

ACCELERATOR PEDAL STICKS. WHEN I PLACE VEHICLE INTO GEAR I MUST APPLY PRESSURE TO ACCELERATOR TO RELEASE IT. SUBSEQUENTLY IT RELEASES SUDDENLY IN A WAY WHICH CAUSES SUDDEN ACCELERATION. WHEN CONDITIONS ARE ICY THIS COMMON PROBLEM WILL EVENTUALLY GET SOMEONE KILLED. CHEVY SHOULD RECALL.*AK

THE RIGHT REAR TIRE TREAD SEPARATED WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH RESULTING IN LOSS OF CONTROL AND AN ACCIDENT. A PASSENGER DIED AND AN OTHER WAS IN CRITICAL CONDITION. *NLM
The contact owns a 1995 N/A Chevrolet GMT-400. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 03V159000 (VISIBILITY); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.

ABS FAILED PREMATURELY. DEALER NOTIFIED. *AK WHENEVER THE CONSUMER CAME TO A STOP, WHEN APPROACHING ANOTHER VEHICLE AT A STOP LIGHT, THE ABS MALFUNCTIONED AND CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO DRIFT INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE IN FRONT. *SCC *JB
WHILE APPLYING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL CONSUMER STATED THAT HE HAD TO APPLY MORE THEN NORMAL PRESSURE TO GET THE VEHICLE TO MOVE. THE DEALER WAS NOT NOTIFIED.*AK
ANTILOCK SYSTEM ACTIVATED WITHOUT CAUSE AND DISABLED THE BRAKING SYSTEM. THIS HAPPENED ON DRY PAVEMENT AT SPEEDS BELOW 30 MPH WHEN COMING TO A NORMAL STOP. THIS HAPPENED TODAY AND ALMOST EVERYTIME I DARE TO DRIVE THE TRUCK.

AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY FROM FRONTAL IMPACT DURING MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT
TAILGATE FAILURE. WHILE UNLOADING A 4-WHEEL DRIVE TAILGATE CABLE SNAPPED. AS A RESULT THE 4-WHEEL DRIVE ROLLED BACKWARDS INTO A DITCH. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS UNDETERMINED.*AK CONSUMER WAS STANDING ON THE TAILGATE WITH THE VEHICLE BACKED INTO A DITCH. WHILE TRYING TO UNLOAD THE ATV, BOTH CABLES SNAPPED. THE ATV FELL INTO THE DITCH AND THE BUMPER WAS DENTED. *PH

WHILE SLOWLY PULLING IN TO MY PARKING SPOT AT WORK, I APPLIED THE BRAKES TO STOP.TO MY AMAZMENT, THE BRAKE PEDEL WAS EXTREAMLY HARD. I HAD APPROX. 2 SECONDS TO REACT BEFORE I ROLLED INTO AN EXHUAST FAN ATTCHED TO A BUILDING. AFTER A FEW TAPS ON THE BRAKE PEDEL IT WAS STILL HARD AS STEEL.BY THIS TIME I HAD IMPACTED WITH THE EXHAUST FAN. THE DAMAGE TO MY TRUCK WAS BAD ENOUGH, HOWEVER THIS OUTCOME COULD HAVE BEEN FAR MORE SERIOUS IF A CO-WORKER WALKING OUT OF THE DOOR NEXT TO THE EXHAUST FAN WAS NOT AS QUICK THINKING AS HE WAS.
THE CONSUMER HAD PLACED THE VEHICLE IN THE REVERSE GEAR AND DEPRESSED THE GAS PEDAL. THE ACCELERATOR HAD THEN GOTTEN STUCK, AN ENGAGED IN FULL THROTTLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS OF NO ASSISTANCE. PH SCC

THE TRANSMISSION HESITATES EXCESSIVELY WHILE DRIVING. DEALER ADVISED CONSUMER THAT A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN WAS ISSUED BY THE MANUFACTURER REGARDING THE ISSUE, BUT THE MANUFACTURER STATES THE CONDITION IS NORMAL. CONSUMER IS VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY HAZARD OF THE TRANSMISSION HESITATING WHILE IN TRAFFIC. TS
WHENEVER I APPLY MY BRAKES NORMALLY, THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM ENGAGES WHEN THE VEHICLE SPEED DECREASES TO APPROXIMATELY 6 MPH. THIS CAUSES THE BRAKE PEDEL TO LOCK AND THE VEHICLE CONTINUES FORWARD UNTIL IT ROLLS TO A STOP OR IT HITS SOMTHING. I HAVE ALREADY HIT SEVERAL CARS AND ROLLED THROUGH MANY INTERSECTIONS. EVENTULY SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET HURT. I HAVE SEARCHED MANY WEBSITES AND FOUND THIS TO BE A VERY COMMON PROBLEM CAUSED BY DIRTY WHEEL HUB SENSORS DUE TO A MANUFACTURES DESIGN FLAW. THE DEALERS OFTEN MIS-DIAGNOS OR SCAM CUSTOMERS INTO NEW ABS COMPUTERS AND OTHER EXPENSIVE SOLUTIONS. THE BEST SOLUTION IS TO PULL THE ABS FUSE FOR THE ABS CONTROL MODULE BUT THIS MAKES THE VEHICLE UNABLE TO PASS STATE INSPECTIONS. MOTOR VEHICLES WITH THIS CONDITION ARE A SAFETY HAZARD AND OFTEN UNREPORTED. PREVENTION CANNOT BE ACCOMPLISHED BY NORMAL OWNER MAINTAINENCE AND MANUFACTURERS SHOULD BE HELD RESPONSABLE. *AK
ALL FOUR BRAKE ROTORS RUSTED OUT ON MY 2000 CHEVROLET SILVERADO AFTER ONLY 15,000 MILES AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT THEY RUSTED OUT FROM THE INSIDE AND THAT THIS WAS A COMMON RECURRING PROBLEM WITH CHEVROLET TRUCK BRAKE ROTORS. OF COURSE, IT WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. I DO NOT THINK ROTORS SHOULD RUST OUT AFTER SUCH A SHORT TIME PERIOD AND WITH SUCH LOW MILEAGE. IS THERE ANY RECOURSE?
APPLIED ABS BRAKES AT 40 MPH .BRAKES STARTED TO CATCH THEN WENT TO FLOOR CAUSING INCREASED STOPPPING DISTANCE AND VEHICLE COLLISION.
THE TRUCK HAS AN AUTOMATIC HEADLIGHT CIRCUIT. (AT TWILIGHT THE HEADLIGHTS ARE ENERGIZED WITHOUT MANUAL TURN-ON.) AMONG THE MANY ELECTRONIC FEATURES THERE IS ALSO A ''DOME LIGHT OVERRIDE'' BUTTON. THIS FEATURE ALLOWS YOU TO CONTROL WHETHER OR NOT THE DOME LIGHT COMES ON WHEN THE DOOR IS OPENED. ONE CAN EASILY ASSUME IT IS TO TURN ON AND OFF THE DOME LIGHT WITHOUT OPENING THE DOOR. HOWEVER, THIS IS NOT THE CASE. IF YOU ARE DRIVING WITH THE HEADLIGHTS ON THE AUTOMATIC CIRCUIT AND YOU PUSH THE ''DOME OVERRIDE'' 3-4 TIMES, ALL THE LIGHTS GO OUT (INCLUDING THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS). TO RE-ENERGIZE THE HEADLIGHTS YOU MUST DO ONE OF THE FOLLOWING: 1. TURN IGNITION OFF AND BACK ON. (IMPOSSIBLE TO DO IF DRIVING.) 2. HIT THE DOME OVERRIDE BUTTON 3-4 MORE TIMES. (NOT AN INTUITIVE CORRECTION.) 3. TURN THE HEADLIGHT MANUAL SWITCH TO ON. (GOOD IDEA IF YOU KNOW ABOUT THE PROBLEM BEFOREHAND AND HAVE THE PRESENCE OF MIND TO DO IT WHILE DRIVING 60-70 MPH ON A BLACKTOP HIGHWAY. AND IF YOU CAN FIND THE SWITCH KNOB IN TOTAL DARKNESS WHILE STEERING AND BRAKING IN TOTAL DARKNESS.) THE REALLY BAD: CHECKING WITH THE DEALER ABOUT THIS DEFECT, I WAS TOLD THIS FEATURE IS DESIGNED INTO THE ELECTRONICS. THAT IS, ''ITS NOT A DEFECT, ITS SUPPOSED TO DO THIS.'' THE REALLY, REALLY BAD (AND GM''S MAJOR LIABILITY): NOWHERE IN THE DETAILED INSTRUCTION MANUAL DOES GM WARN, CAUTION, OR EVEN MENTION THIS FEATURE. APPARENTLY, THIS IS SOMETHING ONLY MR. GOODWRENCH IS SUPPOSED TO KNOW. CONCLUSION: BEING AN ENGINEER MYSELF, I FIND THIS BUILT-IN FEATURE (DEFECT) TO BE MIND-BOGGLING.
CONSUMER CALLED COMPLAINING ABUT HAVING PROBLEMS WITH STEERING AND BRAKES. ALSO STATED THAT WHILE HE WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT 35 TO 45 MPH AND LOST THE POWER FOR THE STEERING AND AT THE SAME TIME THE BRAKES. DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING PUMP BROKE WITH A CONSEQUENCE OF LOOSING BRAKE ABILITY DEALER FIXED THE PROBLEM UNDER THE VEHICLE WARRANTY. TS
WHILE DRIVING AT 75 MPH, VEHICLE'S AIRBAG FAILED TO DEPLOY AND OR TO RECORD ANY INFORMATION. DEALER NOTIFIED. PLEASE PROVIDE ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.
FRONT WHEELS WILL NOT PULL IN 4WD CAUSED BY PREMATURE WEAR AND SLIPPING OF CLUTCH DISCS IN FRONT TRANSFER CASE. WEARING ON THE CLUTCH DISCS EVEN CONTINUES WHILE IN 2WD. SOULUTION IS AN EXPENSIVE OVERHAUL OF THE FRONT TRANSFER CASE.

WHILE TRAVELING TO WORK ON A ICY ROAD, MY ACCELERATOR STUCK AND I COULDN'T ACCELERATE. IT THEN RELEASED ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR BOARD WHERE IT STUCK AGAIN. I LOST CONTROL OF THE PICKUP AND SLID INTO ON COMING TRAFFIC WHERE I HAD A HEAD ON COLLISION. THE ACCELERATOR STICKING WAS THE CAUSE OF THE WRECK AND I BELIEVE THAT CHEVY IS WELL AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. SOMETHING MUST BE DONE BEFORE IT HAPPENS AGAIN. *JB
