TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH, THE VEHICLE BECAME DIFFICULT TO STOP WHEN THE ABS ATTEMPTED TO ENGAGE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY THE SPEED SENSOR AND THE ABS HUB. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 59,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 2500. WHILE DRIVING 5 MPH IN REVERSE, THE POWER STEERING FAILED. THE CONTACT SHUT OFF THE ENGINE AND HAS NOT YET TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 46,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. THE VEHICLE FAILED INSPECTION BECAUSE THE PARKING BRAKE DID NOT OPERATE. THE MECHANIC REPLACED THE REAR PARKING BRAKE SHOES. I HAVE A 2002 SILVERADO 3500 8.1 LITER AND THE TRUCK WILL JUST TURN OFF WITH NO NOTICE WHILE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND ALSO IN TRAFFIC STARTED AT 60,000 MILES GM WILL NOT TAKE CARE OF THE PROBLOM ALSO WHILE DRIVING THE LIGHT FOR WHAT GEAR YOU ARE IN WILL GO OUT AND THE TRUCK WILL GO IN NEUTRAL OR STOP SHIFTING ALL TOGETHER. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500 HD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED, THE CONTACT WOULD EXPERIENCE ABNORMAL BRAKE FLUID LEAKAGE AND A LOSS OF BRAKING POWER. THE DEALER ADVISED THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO CORROSION AND RUSTING OF THE FRAME WHICH CAUSED THE BRAKE LINE TO RUPTURE. THE DEALER REPLACED THE METAL BRAKE LINES AND THE FRONT CALIBER YET THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,829 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE 15,853.
PARKING BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND DID NOT HOLD.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOP, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL BECOMES STUCK. THE CONTACT HAS TO PUMP THE PEDAL TO RELEASE IT, WHICH CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO JERK FORWARD. THE CONTACT ALSO HEARD A LOUD GRINDING AND SCREECHING SOUND WHEN SHE STARTED THE VEHICLE AND PLACED IT IN REVERSE. THE VEHICLE FAILED TO MOVE. THE DEALER HAS NOT YET INSPECTED THE VEHICLE. MY 2002 CHEVY 2500 HD SILVERADO WITH 8.1 ENGINE QUITS RUNNING WHILE DRIVING. DOES NOT MATTER WHAT SPEED I'M GOING, IT JUST STOPS RUNNING. AFTER I PULL OVER PUT TRUCK IN PARK, TURN KEY OFF FOR A FEW MINUTES IT WILL USUALLY START UP. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH THE VEHICLE LOST THE ABILITY TO STOP WHEN HE ATTEMPTED TO MAKE A TURN. THE ROAD CONDITIONS WERE NORMAL. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE BRAKE LINES RUSTED WHICH CAUSED BRAKE FLUID TO LEAK. THE DEALER REPLACED TWO BRAKE LINES AND THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED TO REPAIR THE OTHER BRAKE LINES THAT STARTED TO RUST. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 90,000.
THIS VEHICLE, AT 46,000 MILES HAD TO HAVE ALL THE ROTORS AND BRAKE PADS AND TWO CALIPERS REPLACED BECAUSE THEY RUSTED UP AND LOCKED UP. HAD TO DO IT AGAIN ABOUT 65,000 MILES, THEN HAD A BACK CALIPER SEIZE UP AND REPLACED BOTH ROTORS AND ONE CALIPER ALONG WITH NEW PADS. I THEN HAD TO HAVE ALL THE ROTORS REPLACED, BOTH FRONT HUBS, ONE NEW CALIPER AND PADS AGAIN AT BECK CHEVROLET A YEAR AGO. ON MY WAY DOWN TO FL THIS PAST FALL, WITH ABOUT 84,000 ON THE TRUCK, ANOTHER CALIPER SEIZED UP AND HAD TO REPLACE THE CALIPER, BOTH BACK ROTORS AND BRAKE PADS. YESTERDAY, 3/27/13, ON MY WAY HOME FROM TOWN, WITH 85,000 MILES ON THE TRUCK, THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND NO BRAKES. INSPECTION SHOWED A RUPTURED BRAKE LINE ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE. MY REPAIRMAN SAID EVERY BRAKE LINE IS SWISS CHEESE AND NEED TO BE REPLACED. THIS IS RIDICULOUS. I'VE SPENT SEVERAL THOUSAND DOLLARS AND HAVE REPLACED BRAKES 3 TIMES, ALL ROTORS, MOST CALIPERS AND TWO FRONT HUBS BECAUSE OF RUST. THE FRAME AND EVERYTHING UNDER MY TRUCK IS RUSTED VERY BADLY. I'VE OWNED THIS TRUCK SINCE 2004, AND BOUGHT IT WHEN IT HAD 26,000 MILES ON IT. IT DRIVES BEAUTIFUL AND IS LIKE NEW, BUT IT'S GOING TO ROT RIGHT OUT FROM UNDER ME. PLEASE HELP! *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 2500. ON JULY 9, 2007, WHILE DRIVING 5MPH AND ENGAGING THE WIPERS, THE WIPER FLUID SOUNDED LIKE PIECES OF ICE CHIPS WERE HITTING THE WINDOW. THE FRONT WINDOW CRACKED ON THE DRIVER SIDE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE GLASS WAS DEFECTIVE. THE FAILURE HAS NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED. THE VIN AND ENGINE SIZE ARE UNAVAILABLE. THE VEHICLE DOES NOT HAVE CRUISE CONTROL. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WERE 57,000.

NORMAL DRIVING A T63000 MILES AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CODE P0340 FOR (CAMSHAFT SENSOR CIRCUIT MALFUNCTIONED. AN INDDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP LOCATED A PROBLEM WITH THE DISTRIBUTOR DRIVER GEAR HAVING EXSESSIVE WEAR. GEAR KIT WAS PURCHASE FROM DEALER AND INSTALLED. REPAIR SHOP INDICATED THE GEAR KIT HAD AN ADDITIONAL SPACER WHICH WAS NOT ON THE DISTRIBUTOR ORGINIALLY, THIS SOUNDS LIKE A DESIGN FLAW. CODE WAS CLEARED AND HAS NOT RETURNED. I HAVE THE OLD GEAR.*AK

HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE ROLLS APPROXIMATELY FIVE MORE FEET BEFORE COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP. THE CONTACT'S VIN IS EXCLUDED FROM RECALL # 05V379000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:ANTILOCK). WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE BEGAN TO SMOKE FROM ENGINE COMPARTMENT, NOISE CAME FROM ENGINE COMPARTMENT, VEHICLE SIGNIFICANTLY LOST POWER. DRIVER COULD NOT SHUT OFF ENGINE....STARTER WAS TRYING TO CRANK ENGINE-EVEN WHEN IGNITION WAS IN SHUT OFF POSITION. ENGINE SUDDENLY DID NOT HAVE FULL POWER. SMOKE AND BURNING SMELL CONTINUED TO INCREASE FROM ENGINE COMPARTMENT WITH NO WAY TO SHUT OFF ENGINE. GM RELAY #12193614 WAS REPLACED, AS WELL AS BURNT OUT STARTER. RELAY IS AVAILABLE TO NHTSA. GM WAS NOT INTERESTED ACCESSING PART WHEN OFFERED TO THEM. *TR
2002 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 2500HD 4WD. STEERING BOX FAILURE. VEHICLE HAS HAD A "CLUNKING" NOISE IN THE GEAR BOX SINCE NEW, WITH THE STEERING OFF CENTER TO THE 2 O'CLOCK POSITION. DEALER HAS REMEDIED SEVERAL TIMES BY GREASING THE BOX. TOOK IN FOR SERVICE ON SAME PROBLEM. DEALER FOUND THE STEERING BOX WAS BROKEN AND APPEARED TO HAVE BEEN SINCE NEW. GREASE WAS FULL OF RUST. DEALER REPLACED UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY. CHARGED ME TO REMOVE AFTER MARKET PLOW EQUIPMENT. ANTI LOCK BRAKE FAILURE. 2ND OCCASION. BRAKES FAILURE AT LOW SPEED. DEALER REFUSED TO CORRECT UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY. PER GM THIS IS NOT COVERED UNDER RECALL NHTSA CAMPAIGN # 05V379000 & IS A "SERVICE" ITEM. COST OVER $300 TO CLEAN. *TR
I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY YOU HAVE A RECALL ON THE PARKING BRAKE FOR A MANUAL TRANS ONLY WHEN IT IS JUST AS IMPORTANT TO HAVE ONE ON A AUTOMATIC TRANS. IF YOU PARK YOUR TRUCK ON A STEEP INCLINE AND CAN'T USE THE PARKING BRAKE ALONG WITH THE TRANSMISSION, THEN IT IS VIRTUALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO GET IT OUT OF PARK AND YOU CAN'T TELL ME THAT DOESN'T DO DAMAGE TO THE TRANSMISSION....IT TAKES THE SAME PART TO FIX THE PARKING BRAKE IN A AUTOMATIC TRANS AS IT DOES IN A MANUAL TRANS.. VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!!! *TR
THE 2002 CHEVROLET TAHOE HAS FAILED INSPECTION BECAUSE OF THE EMERGENCY BRAKE.. IT WAS COMPLETELY USELESS. IT DIDN'T WORK. WHY I DON'T KNOW, BUT THE INSPECTION PLACE STATED THAT THEY HAD FAILED NUMEROUS TAHOES WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. I FELT THAT IT WAS UNSAFE AND CHEVROLET SHOULD RECALL THE FEW THAT HAVE THIS PROBLEM. WHY DID IT HAVE TO BE AN INNOCENT PARTY CONCERNING SEVERAL DEATHS OR THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE REPORTING IT BEFORE IT IS RECALLED. I DIDN''T EVEN USE THE BRAKE HOW COULD IT NOT WORK ANYMORE.
OEM HITCH ON 2002 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500 IS DISPLAYING CRACKING/FAILURE AROUND THE RECEIVER WELDS. ENTIRE HITCH WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED. *TR
WHILE DRIVING MY 02 SILVERADO Z71 (49900 MILES) ON THE FREEWAY AT 65/75 MPH, I NOTICED THAT THE TRUCK WAS SLOWING DOWN AND MY FOOT WAS STILL ON THE GAS PEDAL. THE TACHOMETER JUMPED TO 6000-7000 RPM AND I WAS GOING AT 30-40 MPH. MY TRUCK GOT TOWED TO A CHEVY DEALER AND COST ME 3600.00 TO INSTALL A NEW/REMAN TRANSMISSION. THE DEALER COULD NOT SPECIFY WHY THE TRANSMISSION FAILED.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 2500 HD. AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN 65 MPH AND THEN PARKED, THE CONTACT NOTICED TRANSMISSION FLUID GUSHING OUT FROM UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. HE LATER DISCOVERED THAT THERE WAS A CRACK IN THE REAR TRANSMISSION ADAPTER, CAUSED BY A FAULTY UNIVERSAL JOINT. THE DEALER HAS REPAIRED THE VEHICLE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 85,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 83,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN ONE TO TWO MPH, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO STOP UNLESS THE CONTACT PUMPS THE BRAKES THREE OR FOUR TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED ACCORDING TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN # 05V379000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:ANTILOCK). THE DEALER REPLACED ONE SPEED SENSOR AND CLEANED THE OTHER. THE VEHICLE DID NOT HAVE ANY BRAKE FAILURE PRIOR TO THE RECALL REPAIR. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 144,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 142,000.
WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES WHEN COMING TO A STOP, THE ANTILOCK BRAKE SYSTEM ACTIVATES, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO TAKE MUCH LONGER TO STOP, AND FEEL AS THOUGH IT MAY NOT STOP. THE PROBLEM BECAME PROGRESSIVELY WORSE AND WAS A SAFETY ISSUE WHICH NEEDED TO BE CORRECTED. ALTHOUGH THIS PROBLEM IS WELL DOCUMENTED FOR CHEVY VEHICLES (CASE #05V379000), WE DID NOT RECEIVE A RECALL NOTICE. WE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER, WHO CONFIRMED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT ONE OF THOSE RECALLED. I CALLED CHEVY, WHO ALSO CONFIRMED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. BECAUSE IT WAS A SAFETY HAZARD WHICH COULD HAVE RESULTED IN AN ACCIDENT, WE HAD THE VEHICLE FIXED. THE DEALER CHARGED US TO CORRECT IT, WITH THE SAME EXACT SOLUTION AS IN THE RECALL. THE ANTILOCK BRAKE SENSORS WERE REMOVED, CLEANED AND PUT BACK IN, CORRECTING THE PROBLEM. IT SEEMS AS THOUGH THE 2002 CHEVY SILVERADO HD PICKUP WAS EXCLUDED FROM THE RECALL, EVEN THOUGH THE SAME PROBLEM EXISTS AS IN THE OTHER SILVERADO PICKUPS. IT IS EVEN MORE OF A SAFETY HAZARD SINCE IT IS A HEAVIER TRUCK. CHEVY NEEDS TO RECALL ALL OF THE VEHICLES THAT HAVE THIS SAME PROBLEM, OR AT LEAST COVER THE EXPENSES FOR THOSE WHO BRING IT IN FOR SERVICE FOR THE SAME ISSUE AS RECALLED IN OTHER VEHICLES. *TR
I HAVE A 2002 CHEVROLET SILVERADO $WD EXTENDED CAB SHORT BED TRUCK. THIS VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED NEW BY ME. CURRENTLY THE VEHICLE HAS 39,950 MILES ON IT. SINCE APPROX 12,000 MILES I NOTICED LONGER STOPPING DISTANCES. I TOOK IT TO SELLING THE DEALER & WAS TOLD EVERYTHING WAS NORMAL. THIS WEEKEND I INSTALLED NEW AC DELCO FRONT BRAKE PADS & INSTALLED NEW WAGNER ROTORS. UPON REMOVING THE ROTORS I COULDN'T HELP BUT NOTICE THAT THERE WAS A ISSUE WITH THE OLD ORIGINAL NEVER CUT ROTORS. THE ROTOR SURFACE WAS DETERIORATED HENCE CAUSING THE PROBLEM WITH LOSS OF STOPPING DISTANCE. NOTE: THE BRAKE PADS WERE THE ORIGINAL GM. I AM A STATE CERTIFIED INSPECTION MECHANIC. AFTER SURFING THE INTERNET & SEEING AL OF THE COMPLAINTS FROM OTHER SILVERADO OWNERS I COULDN'T HELP BUT TO FILE A COMPLAINT. IF THIS WAS ADDRESSED EARLIER MAYBE I WOULD OF FELT MORE COMFORTABLE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE MORE. AS YOU WILL SEE THE USUAL LOW MILES WE DROVE OTHER VEHICLES INSTEAD. *JB

THE DEALER STATED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY WAS THE CAUSE OF FAILURE. THE DEALER CLEANED THE THROTTLE BODY, HOWEVER, APPROXIMATELY THREE DAYS LATER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY WAS DEFECTIVE AND SHOULD BE REPLACED. AS OF JULY 27, 2007, THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 78,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 68,302.
EMPLOYEE WAS TRAVELING ON THE INTERSTATE, HAD TO BRAKE HARD TO AVOID TRAFFIC, AND WAS STRUCK IN REAR BY A VEHICLE DOING APPROX 50 MPH. IT PUSHED HIM INTO VEHICLE IN FRONT DAMAGING THE FRONT OF VECH. NO AIRBAG DEPLOYED! THE FORCE OF THE IMPACT KNOCKED HIM UNCONSCIOUS. *TR
2002 CHEVY SILVERADO . I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE BRAND NEW, I AM THE ONLY DRIVER. FOR AS LONG AS I CAN REMEMBER THE PARKING BRAKE NEVER WORKED. I TOOK IN THE DEALER AFTER ABOUT A YEAR AND DIDN'T HAVE IT INSPECTED. THEY WANTED TO ADJUST OR PERHAPS REPLACE THE BRAKE SHOES. I NEVER HEARD OF A PARKING BRAKE NEEDING ADJUSTMENT AFTER A YEAR, AND HOW COULD IT POSSIBLY BE WORE OUT? I NEVER USED THE THING. I FIGURED , IT WOULDN'T BE LONG BEFORE THEY HAD A RECALL ON IT. NOW IT IS ABOUT 4 YEARS LATER, I CALL G.M. TO FIND OUT IF THERE IS A RECALL OR IF THEY WOULD HELP OUT WITH THE COSTS. I ALSO HAVE THE 100,000 MILE 5 YEAR G.M. WARRANTY. OF COURSE THEY ADMITTED NOTHING AND DIDN'T HELP AT ALL. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND HAD IT DIAGNOSED LIKE THEY ASKED ME TO. THE DEALER WANTED $855 TO REPLACE THE SHOES AND DRUMS WHICH SOMEHOW DESTROYED THEMSELVES OVER THE LAST 4 YEARS THAT I HAD A NON OPERATIONAL PARKING BRAKE. HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE? I KNOW A LITTLE ABOUT CARS. THAT DOESN'T HAPPEN UNLESS THERE IS SOMETHING DEFECTIVE. IT WASN'T A FUN DAY DEALING WITH PEOPLE WHO WON'T LISTEN TO REASON, OR SHALL I SAY WON'T ADMIT TO IT. *JB
I WENT TO MY RESIDENCE TO GET MY GOLF CLUBS & CLOTHES AT AROUND 8:00 PM ON MARCH 10, 2007, WHILE DRIVING BACK INTO TOWN TO STAY AT SOMEONE ELSE'S HOUSE SO WE COULD LEAVE ON A TRIP EARLY THE NEXT MORNING MY TRUCK CAUGHT ON FIRE UNDER THE HOOD. THE VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT TO THE DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST, AND THE DEALER DETERMINED THAT THE FUEL INJECTOR FAILED. THE FUEL INJECTOR WAS PREVIOUSLY REPLACED THREE TIMES. I HAVE A 2002 CHEVY SILVERADO 2500 HD TRUCK. THE STEERING WHEEL COLUMN, STEERING SHAFT. AND INTERMEDIATE SHAFT MAKE CLUNKING NOISES WHILE TURNING RIGHT OR LEFT AND IS FELT IN THE STEERING WHEEL. CHEVY'S FIX IS TO REMOVE THE INTERMEDIATE SHAFT AND LUBRICATE IT, THEN RE-ASSEMBLE THE STEERING SHAFT. THIS PROBLEM FIRST HAPPENED TO ME 6/04 WITH ONLY 19,748 MILES ON MY TRUCK UNDER WARRANTY NOW ITS HAPPENED AGAIN 2/07 WITH 36,100 MILES ON MY TRUCK. AGAIN, THERE FIX IS PER THERE SERVICE BULLETIN 02-02-35-006A,REMOVE SHAFT AND LUBRICATE THEN RE-ASSEMBLE, NOW IT COST ME NOT WARRANTY. THIS SEEMS TO BE A ON GOING PROBLEM WITH MY TRUCK. WHAT HAPPENS IF I DON"T SPEND THE MONEY AND GET IT RE-LUBED EVERY COUPLE OF YEARS. WILL THE SPINES WEAR- OUT OR BRAKE, THEN POSSIBLE CAUSING STEERING FAILURE WHILE DRIVING???? THIS PROBLEM MAY BE ABLE TO BE RESOLVED BY INSTALLING A GREASE FITTING ON THE SHAFT. I FELL THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL TO BE FIXED BY CHEVY. TL* - THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 10 MPH THE 2002 CHEVROLET SILVERADO THE HARD BRAKE LINE RUPTURED. T THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS. . THE CONTACT HAD JUST PICKED UP THE VEHICLE FROM THE DEALER AFTER HAVING ROUTINE MAINTENANCE PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THE FAILURE AS THE BRAKE LINE HAVING CORRODED. *AK
HEARD SEVERAL THINGS COMING FROM UNDER THE CAR WHILE THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WAS SHIFTING, THEN A CONSTANT WHINNING SOUND WITH NO POWER. HAD TO HAVE THE TRUCK TOWED. DEALER LOOKED AT IT AND DETERMINED IT WAS A TRANSMISSION FAILURE AND THE SUN GEAR ASSEMBLY HAD TO BE REPLACED. COSTS WERE AROUND $1600. THE TRUCK ONLY HAS 66,000 MILES AND IS NOT QUITE FIVE YEARS OLD (2002 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500). *NM
UNABLE TO PULL REAR PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELT FROM RETRACTOR AT ANY TIME MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO BELT ONE PASSENGER. BELT WAS REPLACED BY DEALER. OLD BELT IS AVAILABLE. *JB
TL* - THE CONTACT HAS A 2002 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 2500 HD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN HE STOPS AT A STOP LIGHT THE ABS SYSTEM ENGAGES. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE PRESENTLY HAS AN ODOMETER READING OF 41,000 MILES. THE PARKING BRAKE FAILED AT 40,000 MILES. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE IS A SAFETY RECALL ON THESE TWO FEATURES FOR THE 2002 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 2500 HD. HOWEVER, HIS VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED UNDER THE SAFETY RECALL.
I WAS DRIVING MY 2002 CHEVY 4X4 PICKUP (46,000 MILES) HOME WHEN A LOUD CLANK NOISE OCCURRED AND THEN A HIGH PITCHED GRINDING NOISE FOLLOWED. MY TRUCK WOULD NOT SHIFT NORMALLY (2ND, 4TH, AND REVERSE WERE OUT). I WAS LUCKY TO MAKE IT HOME AS I DRIVE ON A HIGHWAY THROUGH THE NATIONAL FOREST WHERE CELL PHONE COVERAGE IS VERY LIMITED. I TOOK MY PICKUP INTO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY INDICATED THE PROBLEM WAS WITH MY SUN SHELL IN THE TRANSMISSION. IT HAD APPARENTLY FAILED AND WOULD COST BETWEEN $1300 AND $2500 TO GET EVERYTHING FIXED DEPENDING ON HOW EXTENSIVE THE DAMAGE. I BOUGHT THE PICKUP NEW AND ITS NEVER BEEN OFF-ROAD, TOWED OR HAULED ANYTHING AND ONLY HAS 46,000 MILES. *NM
ORIGINAL TRANSMISSION WENT 19 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASE AT 34K MILES REPLACED 6/03 2ND TRANSMISSION WENT AT 57K TRUCK MILES/23K REBUILT TRANSMISSION MILES 6/04. 3RD TRANSMISSION WENT AT 114K TRUCK MILES/57K REBUILT TRANSMISSION MILES 1/4/07. THE WARRANTY ON THE THIRD TRANSMISSION EXPIRED NOV 24, 2006 JUST 41 DAYS AFTER THE WARRANTY EXPIRED. *JB

HIGH BEAM HEADLIGHT WENT OUT WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT AND I AM UNABLE TO USE DUE TO WIRES MELTING OFF ON DIMMER SWITCH ON STEERING COLUMN. *JB
TL* - THE CONTACT HAD THE PARKING BRAKE ASSEMBLY REPLACED ON VEHICLE WITH 117000 MILES. THEN, FOUND OUT THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE SAME MODEL AND YEAR FOR THE PARKING BRAKE , BUT THE DEALER WOULD NOT HONOR THE RECALL BECAUSE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE CONTACT HAS THE REPAIR ORDER FOR THE WORK DONE, AS WELL AS THE PARTS. ALSO, THE DEALER TOLD THE CONTACT THAT THE PARKING BRAKE WAS DAMAGING THE ROTORS. *AK
THE BRAKES ON MY 2002 SILVERADO ARE TERRIBLE. AT LOW SPEEDS THE BRAKE PEDAL GOES TO THE FLOOR AND THE TRUCK WILL NOT STOP. MY WIFE REFUSES TO DRIVE THE TRUCK. I USE IT TO PULL MY 2 HORSE TRAILER AND THE TRAILER BRAKES STOP THE VEHICLE. THE CHEVY RECALL ON THESE BRAKES SHOULD BE EXTENDED TO ALL STATES! I LIVE IN FLORIDA AND OBVIOUSLY MY TRUCK HAS BEEN AFFECTED BY THE FAULTY ABS SENSOR ISSUE. *NM
TL*- WHEN CONTACT PARKS ON A HILL AND APPLIES THE PARKING BRAKE, QUITE OFTEN THE VEHICLE TRIES TO DRIFT. THE CONTACT STATES THAT WEATHER CONDITION AREN'T A PROBLEM WITH THE DRIFTING. HE HAS PARKED ON A HILL WHEN IT HAS BEEN DRY, WET OR SNOWING AND THE PROBLEM CONTINUES. THE CONTACT IS CONCERN BECAUSE HE HAS BROUGHT HIS VEHICLE OVER AND OVER TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY STATED THAT THERE ISN'T ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. TL* - THE CONTACT SAID THAT THE CAP AND ROTOR THAT GOES TO THE SPARK PLUG HAD BEEN REPLACED, BECAUSE OF A RECALL. THE CONTACT SAID THAT THE PARTS WENT BAD A YEAR LATER. HE TOOK THE TRUCK BACK TO THE DEALER (PEARSON BUICK GMC) AND THEY REPLACE THE PARTS AGAIN, BUT THEY CHARGED HIM $100 FOR HIS WARRANTY USE. THE CONTACT SAID THAT SINCE THE PARTS ARE STILL UNDER RECALL WHY DID THEY CHARGE HIM FOR THIS WARRANTY USE? THE CONTACT HAS REPAIR ORDERS FOR ALL THE WORK.
TL*- THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE 2002 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500, RECEIVED RECALL 05V161000 FOR THE PARKING BRAKES. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR THE RECALL REPAIRS ON 12/2006. SIX DAYS AFTER THE REPAIRS THE WEATHER BECAME COLD ABOUT 30 DEGREES, AND THE EMERGENCY BRAKE BECAME STUCK. HE DID GET THE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO RELEASE AND DROVE THE VEHICLE 3 MILES WHEN BEGAN SMELLING SOMETHING THAT SMELLED LIKE THE BRAKES BURNING. HE GOT OUT OF THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED THAT THE PASSENGER'S SIDE REAR WHEEL WAS EXTREMELY HOT. HE LET THE VEHICLE COOL DOWN ,AND TRIED TO JAR THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. THEN HE CALLED THE DEALERSHIP, AND THEY REMINDED HIM THAT IN EXTREMELY COLD WEATHER HE SHOULDN'T USE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. THE BRAKES WERE REPAIRED. THE DEALERSHIP DIDN'T CHARGE HIM FOR THE REPAIR, THEY INFORMED HIM THE RECALL REPAIR HAD NOT BEEN DONE PROPERLY, AND THAT THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WAS ADJUSTED TOO TIGHT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER THIS REPAIR HE DROVE THE VEHICLE FOR ABOUT A WEEK, AND THE EMERGENCY BRAKE FROZE UP AGAIN. HE FILED A COMPLAINT WITH THE MANUFACTURER, AND WA GIVEN A CASE#71-461637111. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE HAD TO SELL THE VEHICLE BECAUSE COULDN'T TAKE THE CHANCE WITH THE EMERGENCY BRAKE ON THE ROAD, AND SO HE TRADED THE VEHICLE IN. THE CONTACT HAD ALL THE INFORMATION FOR THIS VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000 MILES.*AK
