WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE LOST TOTAL POWER DUE TO THE AIR CONDITIONER LINE WAS ROUTED ON TOP OF THE DISTRIBUTOR, WHICH CAUSED CONDENSATION AND WATER DRIPPED INSIDE THE DISTRIBUTOR. *JB
CONSUMER STATES THAT WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WOULD COME ON AND STAY ON. DEALER NOTIFIED.*AK
MY 2002 CHEVY SILVERADO HAS A NO START PROBLEM. THE TRUCK HAS ALWAYS STARTED ON FIRST USE BUT AFTER IT HAS BEEN DRIVEN AND SHUT OFF, MANY TIMES IT DOES NOT RESTART. IT HAS HAPPENED IN ALL TYPES OF WEATHER AND AND EVEN IF ONLY RUNS FOR A SHORT PERIOD. THERE IS NO RHYME OR REASON TO IT. SOMETIMES IT STARTS AND SOMETIMES IT DOESN'T. AFTER THE TRUCK SITS FOR ABOUT 2 HOURS, IT USUALLY STARTS AGAIN. I HAVE TAKEN IT INTO THE CHEVY DEALERAND THE STARTER WAS REPLACED. THIS DID NOT CURE THE PROBLEM. SEVERAL MONTHS AGO THEY REPLACED THE PARKING SWITCH AND CONNECTORS. THE PROBLEM IS STILL OCCURRING AND MORE OFTEN. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER AT LEAST 5 OTHER TIMES AND THEY CANNOT IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM. I CANNOT DRIVE THE TRUCK WITHOUT WORRYING THAT I WILL BE STRANDED EVERYTIME I TURN IT OFF.

RIGHT REAR CALIPER DOES NOT RELEASE PROPERLY. CONSUMER CLAIMS IT IS LIKE DRIVING WITH BRAKES PRESSED. ALSO, BRAKES ARE WEARING OUT PREMATURELY. THE DEALER HAS BEEN CONTACTED. *AK
WHILE PRESSING ON THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE DRIVER WOULD ALSO PRESS ON THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO SURGE FORWARD. OWNER HAS MADE CONTACT WITH THE DEALERSHIP. *PH THE BRAKE PEDAL HAS TO TRAVEL PAST THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL TO ACTIVATE THE BRAKES. AS A RESULT THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL IS ACCIDENTALLY PRESSED SIMULTANEOUSLY .*TS *NLM
FIRESTONE STEELTEX RADIAL TIRE [LT245/75R16] [LOAD RANGE E M/S] TREAD SEPARATED [DRIVER SIDE REAR OF 2002 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 3/4 TON HEAVY DUTY PICK UP] WHILE TOWING A FIFTH WHEEL TRAILER AT 65 MILES PER ON INTERSTATE I-75 IN KENTUCKY. IT SOUNDED LIKE DRIVING ON THE GROOVES USED TO WARN DRIVERS THEY ARE GOING OFF THE ROAD. THEN THE REAR OF THE TRUCK BEGAN TO MOVE SLIGHTLY LEFT/RIGHT. WE WERE JUST STARTING UP A LONG, STEEP HILL IN THE SLOW LANE AND WERE ABLE TO PULL OVER ONTO THE SHOULDER IN A GOOD SPOT WHERE PEOPLE COULD SEE US. MANY DRIVERS CAME CLOSE, BUT WE WERE NOT INJURED. A TRUCKER STOPPED TO HELP US. HE SAID IT LOOKED LIKE THE TIRE HAD DRY ROT. MAYBE A FOOT OF TREAD NEAR THE SIDE WALL CAME LOOSE. A SMALL CHUNK [3''] WAS ALSO LOOSE. THE TIRE COLLAPSED COMPLETELY. I FEEL WE MIGHT HAVE LOST CONTROL IF WE HAD BEEN PASSING OR GOING DOWN HILL. I CHECKED INFLATION JUST A FEW DAYS EARLIER. *NLM
THE TRACKS AND ANCHORS STUCK OUT THREE INCHES, TOO FAR AND CAUSED THE BACK SEAT PASSENGERS TO KICK THE TRACKS WHEN GETTING IN OR OUT OF THE VEHICLE. THE OWNER HAS CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP. *AK *SCC *JB
THE VEHICLES GAUGES DID NOT WORK AT ALL. THE DEALER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND COULD NOT DUPLICATE OR CORRECT THE PROBLEM. *NLM
THE FUEL GAUGE DID NOT WORK. THE DEALER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE, BUT COULD NOT DUPLICATE OR CORRECT THE PROBLEM. *NLM
WHILE DRIVING THE FRONT WINDSHIELD WIPERS FAILED WITHOUT WARNING. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT SNOW BUILD UP UNDER THE WIPER ARMS CAUSED THE LINKAGE TO "POP" OFF. *NLM SCC
THE BRAKES SQUEALED WHEN THEY WERE APPLIED. *JB
I PURCHASED A 2002 CHEVROLET HD2500 WITH A 8100 LITER ENGINE. I HAVE NOW BEEN TOLD THAT THIS ENGINE WILL USE 1 QUART OF OIL FOR EACH 1,000 MILES DRIVEN. I BELIEVE THAT THIS IS AN EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF OIL TO BE USED IN A NEW VEHICLE. HAS CHEVROLET DONE ANYTHING TO CORRECT THIS MISTAKE. IS THERE A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM?
MY TRUCK HAS THE NEW "DURAMAX" ENGINE IN IT. AND IT HAS HAD THE FUEL INJECTORS GO OUT 4 TIMES. I FEEL LIKE I LIVE AT THE CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP AT TIMES. THE BAD THING ABOUT THIS ENGINE IS WHEN THE MOTOR HAS A PROBLEM IT SHUTS DOWN. AND IF YOUR ON A FREEWAY YOUR GOING TO BE RAN OVER. IT SHUTS DOWN ANYWHERE AT ANYTIME AND YOU CANNOT START IT. *JB
MY 2002 CHEV TRUCK KNOCKS WHEN I START THE ENGINE. (6.0) MOST CHEV TRUCKS DO THIS. THE DEALER TOLD ME IT WAS NORMAL. I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE THEM AROUND WHEN I TRY AND SELL THE TRUCK. THE NOISE CAME AFTER THE TRUCK WAS ONLY 4 MONTHS OLD. IT HAS BEEN GETTING WORSE AND WORSE. MY RESALE VALUE IS GOING TO SUCK. IF IT IS NORMAL, I TOLD THEM THEY SHOULD ADVERTISE IT IN THEIR TV COMMERCIAL. CHEV TRUCKS, LIKE A ROCK, AND SOUND LIKE A ROCK SHAKING IN A TIN CAN. *JB
TRANSMISSION CLUNKS WHEN DECELERATING AND ACCELERATING FROM STOP. SPLINE LUBED FIRST TIME AND REDUCED LOUDNESS OF CLUNK BUT WITHIN 300 MILES NOISE WAS BACK.
THE CONSUMER ACCIDENTALLY HIT THE INTERIOR DOME LIGHT OVERRIDE SWITCH 3 TIMES WHICH CAUSED THE VEHICLE'S HEADLIGHTS TO FAIL WITHOUT WARNING. THE SWITCH WAS ONLY SUPPOSED TO ALLOW THE DOME LIGHT TO REMAIN ILLUMINATED WHEN DOORS WERE CLOSED. *JB
WHILE DRIVING ABOUT 55 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO OVERHEAT WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING THEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. *NLM

BRAND NEW 2002 CHEVROLET TRUCK MAKES KNOCKING NOISE SINCE NEW. CHEVROLET AGREES ITS A PROBLEM BUT WILL NOT FIX IT. THE KNOCKING IS HEARD WHEN STARTING VEHICLE. GM NEEDS TO CORRECT THIS ISSUE BEFORE IT CAUSE ENGINE FAILURE. *NLM
WINDSHIED WIPERS, STOPPED WORKING ---THEN COULD GET THEM ON ONLY ON HIGH. GM DEALER AND GM REPLACED CHIP/MTR GM PAID FOR PART,DEALER CHARGED 180.00. NOW I HEAR RE-CALLS ON 1999 AND UP ON SAME THING.. I HAVE 2002 SILVERADO SINCE 2002 NOT IN RE-CALL ,FIGURED YOU SHOULD BE AWARE,, PROBLEM STILL EXIST . *NLM
WHILE DRIVING AND UPON LOOKING INTO THE PASSENGER SIDE MIRROR ONE COULD NOT SEE WHAT WAS COMING UP ON THE SIDE SHIFTER. CONSUMER CONTACTED THE DEALER. HOWEVER, CONSUMER WAS TOLD THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. ALSO, TRANSMISSION WILL INTERMITTENTLY FAIL. CONSUMER STATED THAT WHEN DRIVING THROUGH WATER OR MUD SHIFT LEVER WILL FREEZE UP. *AK POOR DESIGN, MUD, SNOW, ICE TRAPPED ON TO SHIFTER CABLE AND SAFETY SWITCH, THEN THEY FREEZE INTO POSITION AND ALSO CAUSES SAFETY SWITCH TO MALFUNCTION AND GO BAD. *BF

I HAVE A 2002 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. THE ABS SYSTEM FAILS TO STOP MY VEHICLE IN ALL TYPES OF NORMAL SITUATIONS WHICH HAS ALREADY LED TO ONE ACCIDENT. THIS WAS MY FIRST ACCIDENT EVER AND THANKS TO MY DEALER WHO SAID THERE WAS NO PROBLEM WITH MY BRAKES I AM SURE THIS WONT BE THE LAST ACCIDENT. THE VEHICLE BRAKE SYSTEM WILL FREEZE UP IF SO MUCH AS A PEBBLE VIBRATION IS FELT, OR STOPPING ON A COMPLETELY SMOOTH AND CLEAN ROAD NORMALLY. THE SCARY THING IS, I NEVER KNOW WHEN MY BRAKES ARE GOING TO FAIL, AND SINCE THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE IN BETWEEN A SMOOTH ROAD OR A POTHOLE DISABLING THE BRAKES I DO NOT FEEL COMFORTABLE IN MY OWN VEHICLE. I HAVE ROLLED THROUGH INTERSECTIONS, ROLLED THROUGH STOP SIGNS, AND HAD ONE ACCIDENT IN THIS VEHICLE. I BELEIVE THAT THE CHEVROLET COMPANY NEEDS TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM IMMEDIATLY, FOR THE LIABILITY AND SAFTY OF ALL CONSUMERS. I AM NOT THE ONLY PERSON WITH BRAKE PROBLEMS IN THE CHEVROLET SILVERADOS FROM 1999 TO CURRENT, I HAVE MET SEVERAL AND THEY WERE ALL TOLD THEY HAVE NO PROBELMS WITH THERE VEHICLES EITHER. WE ARE WAITNG FOR CHEVROLET TO CORRECT THIS FAULTY BRAKE SYSTEM. *AK

MANY OF THE PROBLEMS TOOK SEVERAL TIMES IN THE SHOP TO FIX. THE CASTROPHIC FAILURES IN THE ENGINE & TRANSMISSION HAVE NEVER BEEN FIXED. THE TRUCK HAS LUNGING, DEAD SPOTS & SURGES & THE TRANSMISSION CLUNKS (SHIFTS HARD, JERKY) THE AUTO MAY OR MAY NOT ACCELERATE ON DEMAND & WILL LATER ACCELERATE WHEN YOU NEED TO APPLY THE BRAKES.
VEHICLE EXPERIENCED BRAKE FAILURE, IN WHICH THE BRAKES FAILED TO STOP THE VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY WHEN THEY WERE DEPRESSED. THIS RESULTED IN EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE. THIS FAILURE OCCURRED BECAUSE THE BRAKE ROTORS WARPED. THE ROTORS WERE RESURFACED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED WITHIN 15,000 MILES. *AK

THE CONSUMER PURCHASED A 2002 CHEVROLET 1 TON TRUCK IN 2003, EVER ONCE IN A WHILE IT HAS A COLD START. THIS BEGAN THE SAME MONTH THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED. FOUR TIMES SINCE DECEMBER THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO DEALER WHO CAN NOT FIND OUT WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE, BUT STARTS BACK AND QUITS OFTEN ON ROAD. I HAVE A 02 SIVERADO A 5,000 MILES THE MOTOR STARTED KNOCKING, THE DEALERSHIP SAID IT'S OUT OF THERE HANDS, AND TOLD US TO CALL CHEVROLET DOCUMENT #816465, WHICH SAYS THE KNOCKING IS NORMAL, AND ALL THEY CAN DO IS EXTEND THE WARRANTY. WE ALL KNOW THIS IS NOT NORMAL,GO TO WWW.BIGCLASSACTION.COM AND FILE A COMPLAINT. IF WE CAN GET EVERYONE TOGETHER WE CAN GET A CLASS ACTION SUIT AGAINST THEM. WHILE DRIVING IN THE RAIN AT 55 MPH AND WITHOUT WARNING, THE VEHICLE STARTED TO SPIN AROUND IN CIRCLES. ON ANOTHER OCCASION, WHILE DRIVING IN RAIN IT KEPT FEELING LIKE VEHICLE WANTED TO GET AWAY FROM THE CONSUMER. *AK THE CONSUMER STATED THE BRAKES LOCKED UP AS WELL. *JB
INBOARD DISC BRAKE PADS BOTH FRONT AND REAR QUICKLY LOSE CONTACT WITH BRAKE ROTOR AFTER REPLACEMENT - I HAVE BEEN PLAGUED WITH POOR PERFORMING BRAKES SINCE PURCHASE. THE INBOARD BRAKE PAD DOES NOT SELF ADJUST TO MAINTAIN CONTACT WITH THE ROTOR. INSTEAD IT SEIZES IN ITS STAINLESS STEEL ANTI-RATTLE GUIDES. SOMETIMES IT COCKS TO ONE SIDE, SOMETIMES IT IS PARALLEL TO THE ROTOR. THIS CAUSES SEVERAL PROBLEMS - FIRST LOST OF BRAKE PERFORMANCE WITH LONG STOPPING DISTANCES BECAUSE THE SEIZED PAD IS INEFFECTIVE-THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE, SECOND THE SEIZED PAD DOES NOT CLEAN THE ROTOR SURFACE CAUSING PREMATURE RUSTING AND SHORT ROTOR LIFE. MY ROTORS NEED REPLACING EVERY YEAR OR TWO BECAUSE OF RUST ON THE INBOARD SURFACE. I HAVE GONE THROUGH THE FOUR ORIGINAL ROTORS AND 12 REPLACEMENT ROTORS IN 47000 MILES AND SIX YEARS SINCE NEW. *TR

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 CHEVROLET 1500. WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE VEHICLE CONTINUED MOVING WHEN HE DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALERSHIP BUT THE DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. A LOCAL MECHANIC REPLACED THE BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS BUT THE CONTACT WAS STILL EXPERIENCING THE SAME FAILURE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. ENGINE KNOCK.. HOT & COLD. SOUNDS LIKE LIFTER NOISE, GM SAYS IT'S "NORMAL" . OVER 30 YEARS AS A MECHANIC, I KNOW THERE'S NO SUCH THING AS A NORMAL KNOCK. AFTER RESEARCHING THIS ISSUE, I FIND THERE ARE ABOUT 800,000 VEHICLE INVOLVED. GM NEEDS TO FIX THESE VEHICLES. GM SERVICE BULLETINS REFER TO THIS AS PISTON SLAP. ANY SLAP, SCUFF, OR ABNORMAL NOISE IN A CYLINDER IS DETRIMENTAL TO THE METALS. *JB
