THE CONSUMERS VEHICLE BEGAN TO SLOPE AND THE (SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT) HAD COME ON. IMMEDIATELY AFTER EXITING THE HIGHWAY, IT STOPPED. THE MECHANICS INSTALLED A NEW FUEL FILTER. THE PROBLEM WAS NOT FIXED BECAUSE THE PROBLEM HAD REPEATED. THE CONSUMER IS REQUESTING REIMBURSEMENT DUE TO A WARRANTY ISSUE WITH THE VEHICLE. *SCC
CHEVROLET SILVERADO ABS FAILURE , LOSS OF BRAKES WHEN TRAVELING OVER SMALL BUMPS OR WET ROADS. ALSO LOSS OF PARKING BRAKE. DEALER SAID IT WAS ONLY ON MANUAL TRANSMISSION TRUCKS THAT HAD THE FAILURE...THIS IS NOT TRUE. ALL TRUCKS.*AK

WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE, THERE IS A KNOCKING NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE CAUSED BY PISTON SLAP, IF NOT FIXED, THIS COULD CAUSE PISTON TO BREAK AND DAMAGE THE ENGINE.*AK CONSUMER IS CONCERNED THAT THE ENGINE WILL FAIL IN THE FUTURE. *YH
THE DRIVE TRAIN WAS DEFECTIVE, WHEN THE VEHICLE REACHED A SPEED OF 70 MPH IT LOST POWER AND HAD BECOME UNCONTROLLABLE. *JB THERE WAS A SLIPPAGE IN THE DRIVE TRAIN, MADE EXCESSIVE NOISE WHEN SHIFTING UP OR DOWN, AND IS EASY TO COME APART. PARKING BRAKE WILL NOT HOLD
WHILE DRIVING, ENGINE WAS RUNNING AT A HIGH THROTTLE, CAUSING VEHICLE TO SUDDENLY ACCELERATE AT A HIGH SPEED. HAD TO USE EXCESSIVE FORCE TO SLOW VEHICLE DOWN.*AK THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS IN THE OFF POSITION. PUMPING/APPLYING BRAKES DID NOT CLEAR ACCELRATION ONLY SLOWED VEHICLE. STOMPING OF ACCELERATOR 3 TIMES RELEASED ACCELERATOR. APPROXIMATELY 3 MINUTES LATER THE ABOVE PROBLEM OCCURRED AGAIN. ACCELERATOR CLEARED ON AGAIN BY STOMPING ACCELERATOR. DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE PROBLEM. *TT
I BOUGHT A 2002 CHEVY SILVERADO IN OCT 2001. I HAVE BEEN THE ONLY OWNER AND DRIVER OF THIS VEHICLE. MY COMPLAINT IS THAT SINCE I HAVE HAD THIS VEHICLE I HAVE HAD THE LEFT REAR DIFFERENTAL AXLES SEALS AND BRAKE PADS REPLACED 4 TIMES AND THE RIGHT REAR SEAL AND BRAKE PADS ONCE. THE PROBLEM STARTED WHEN THE VEHICLE HAD 15,682 MILES , SECOND TIME AT 26,252, THIRD TIME AT 32,727 AND THE FOURTH TIME AT 65,624. WHEN I TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK FOR THE THIRD TIME I WAS TOLD THAT THE SEALS WERE FINE AND THAT I PROBABLY NEEDED THE PVC VALUE, FUEL AND AIR FILTERS CHANGED. THEY CHANGED EVERYTHING AND CHARGED ME FOR THE WORK. WITHIN 3 WEEKS I WENT TO ANOTHER CHEVY DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE AXLES DID NEED REPLACING. THEY DID THE WORK THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN DONE 3 WEEKS EARLIER. WHEN I WENT TO THE FIRST DEALER ABOUT BEING REIMBURSED FOR WORK THAT SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN DONE I GOT BLOWN OFF. I NOW HAVE PAID OVER $500 FOR A REOCCIRING PROBLEM WHICH SEEMS TO BE A DEFECT. I HAVE CONTACTED GENERAL MOTORS AND EVEN THOUGH THEY HAVE TALKED TO ME I FEEL THAT I AM GETTING NOWHERE. WHAT IS IT GOING TO TAKE? ME HAVING AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE MY BRAKES GET FLUID LEAKED ON THEM . I TRAILER MY HORSE WITH THIS TRUCK AND GOD FORBID ANYTHING HAPPEN WHEN I AM TRAILERING. CAMPER MIRRORS DON'T STICK OUT FAR ENOUGH TO SEE THE ROAD BEHIND THE CAMPER THE CAMPER IS A 10.5FT. LANCE CAMPER. YOU CAN NOT BACK OR DRIVE SAFELY WITH THESE MIRRORS. DT
DT: THE CONTACT STATES SINCE PURCHASE THE BRAKES HAVE BEEN WEAK WHEN PULLING HIS BOAT AND MAKING EMERGENCY STOPS. HE STATES WITH BOTH FEET ON THE BRAKE PEDAL, IT FEELS SPONGY AND IT GOES TO THE FLOOR. THE VEHICLE DOES NOT STOP ANY FASTER WHEN THE BRAKES ARE PRESSED HARDER. THE TRAILER FOR THE BOAT DOES NOT HAVE ANY BRAKES AND BOTH WEIGH APPROXIMATELY 2000 POUNDS. THE PULLING CAPACITY FOR THE VEHICLE IS 7200 POUNDS. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY STATE THE BRAKES ARE WORKING PROPERLY; THEREFORE, NO REPAIRS HAVE BEEN MADE. THEY HAVE NOT DRIVEN THE VEHICLE WITH THE TRAILER AND BOAT ATTACHED. *AK
I TOO HAVE THE PISTON SLAP PROBLEM WITH MY 2002 SILVERADO HD 6.0L ENGINE. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AT ABOUT 2400 MILES AND WAS HANDED A TECHNICAL BULLETIN THAT WAS DATED FROM 1999 (PROBLEM HAS BEEN KNOWN SINCE THEN) TELLING ME THAT GM IS WORKING ON A "FIX". THEY DID WANT TO LOOK AT THE TRUCK TO MAKE SURE NOTHING ELSE WAS WRONG. THERE IS NO "FIX", JUST AN EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THE ENGINE ALONE EVEN THOUGH I ALREADY PAID FOR THE EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THE ENTIRE VEHICLE. YOU CANNOT GET THE WARRANTY AGREEMENT MAILED TO YOU TO LOOK IT OVER, THEY WILL ONLY SEND IT IF YOU AGREE TO ACCEPT IT OVER THE PHONE. BOUGHT THE TRUCK IN GOOD FAITH AND WAS SOLD A LEMON. MAYBE IF THEIR PROFITS WERE AFFECTED BY A RECALL THEY MIGHT THINK TWICE ABOUT STEALING AND LYING TO CONSUMERS. *NLM
WHILE DRIVING AT 35MPH VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A SIDE COLLISION AND DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT BELT DIDN'T RETRACT, CAUSING DRIVER TO LAUNCH FORWARD, AND RECEIVING SERIOUS HEAD, HAND, ARM, LIP AND LEG INJURIES.*AK *MJ
WHILE DRIVING AT 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE WAS HIT BY AN AMBALANCE, THE AIR BAGS DIDN'T DEPLOY RESULTING IN MAJOR INJURIES TO DRIVER.*AK *MJ
VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A FRONTAL IMPACT GOING 35MPH. AIR BAG DIDN'T DEPLOY, AND LIGHT NEVER ILLUMINATED. CHEVROLET WAS CONTACTED, AND WILL BE SENDING AN INSPECTOR OUT FOR VEHICLE. PLEASE PROVIDE MORE INFORMATION.*AK
AFTER 3 WEEKS OF OWNERSHIP WE STARTED EXPERIENCING SEVERAL PROBLEMS WITH THE STEERING AND BRAKING OF THIS VEHICLE. STEERING WHEEL WOULD "CATCH" AND MAKE THUMPING NOISES AS WE TURNED RIGHT OR LEFT SHARP TURNS (SLOWLY). BRAKES ARE GOING TO CAUSE AN ACCIDENT SOONER OR LATER AS THE PEDAL GOES COMPLETELY TO THE FLOOR AND THUMPS LOUDLY BUT DOES NOT SLOW THE VEHICLE WHEN YOU TRY TO MAKE A MODERATELY SUDDEN STOP. WE HAD OUR TRUCK IN FOR SERVICE AFTER OWNING IT FOR 3 WEEKS AND THE IDIOTS AT SPITZER CHEVROLET TRIED TO TELL US IT WAS THE TRAILER HITCH MAKING ALL THE NOISE.....WHAT A JOKE
I DRIVE A 2002 CHEVY SILVERADO 1500. YESTERDAY (5/14/10) I WAS APPLYING MY BRAKES TO COME TO A SUDDEN STOP WHEN SOMEONE CUT OUT IN FRONT OF MY TRUCK. I LOST ALL BRAKING ABILITY WHEN I APPLIED MY BRAKES TO STOP. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO STEER AWAY FROM THE ON COMING CAR AND ENDED UP ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I GOT OUT OF MY TRUCK TO CHECK MY BRAKES WHEN I NOTICED A PUDDLE OF BRAKE FLUID UNDER THE FRONT OF MY TRUCK. UPON CLOSER EXAMINATION I NOTICED EXCESSIVE RUST ON THE BRAKE LINE AND BRAKE FLUID WAS FREE FLOWING FROM A RUPTURE IN THE BRAKE LINE THAT WAS HEAVILY CORRODED. *TR
VEHICLE PULLS TO THE RIGHT AT ALL TIMES. DEALER REPLACED PITMAN ARM AND DID AN ALIGNMENT, CANNOT REMEDY THE PROBLEM.*AK DEALER ALSO REPLACED STEERING BOX. STILL DID NOT HELP REMEDY THE PROBLEM. *AK.*TT
VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A 30-40 MPH FRONTAL COLLISION IN WHICH DRIVER'S AND PASSENGER'S AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY, CAUSE UNKNOWN. PLEASE GIVE ANY FURTHER DETAILS.*AK

TRANSMISSION SLIPS DURING THE 1-2 UP SHIFT AT MODERATE THROTTLE INPUT CAUSING A DISTINCTIVE CLUNK AND COULD BE A POSSIBLE SAFETY CONCERN ON TWO WHEEL DRIVE VEHICLES ON SLIPPERY ROADS, WHERE AS VEHICLE LOSS OF CONTROL COULD OCCUR WHEN TRANSMISSION ENGAGES. VEHICLE RETURNED TO DEALER TWICE WITH CONCERN, ONE ATTEMPT TO FIX WITH REPLACEMENT OF TRANSMISSION OUTPUT SHAFT. THIS DID NOT HELP. *JB
THIS TRUCK WAS INVOLVED IN A HEAD ON CRASH. I WAS RUNNING ABOUT 55 MPH AND THE OTHER VEHICLE WAS RUNNING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH. THE TRUCK WAS A TOTAL LOSS WITH MOST OF THE DAMAGE DONE TO THE FRONT END.THE DRIVERS SIDE AIR BAG OR THE PASSENGER AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. MR

THE FRONT TIRES ON THE OUTER EDGE ARE WHAT I CALL CUPPING OUT. I HAVE BEEN TO THE DEALER 4 OR 5 TIMES WHERE I PURCHASED THE TRUCK AND THEY HAVE ACKNOWLEDGED THAT I DO HAVE A FRONT END PROBLEM. THEY KEEP TELLING ME IT'S THE ALIGNMENT CAUSING THE ABNORMAL WEAR BUT AFTER 5 OR 6 ALIGNMENTS YOU WOULD THINK SOMETHING WOULD EITHER CORRECT OR THE DEALERSHIP WOULD TELL ME WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE TRUCK. I WENT TO A DIFFERENT DEALERSHIP IN SMYRNA APPX 9 MILES FROM BILL HEARD ABOUT 2 WEEKS AFTER THEY ALIGNED MY TRUCK AND THEY SAID THE TRUCK WAS OUT OF ALIGNMENT. I HAD TO PAY FOR THIS AND THIS WAS A REP. FROM THE GM FACTORY TELLING ME WHAT TO DO. AS OF 12/2/02 ED BOGGS THE REP SAID THEIR WAS NOTHING ELSE THAT CHEVROLET OR GM COULD DO. I SUGGESTED HIM GIVE ME A TRUCK THAT WAS SAFE TO DRIVE OR I FELT I WAS SAFE. BILL HEARD DID ADMIT THAT THE WEAR ON 5 TIRE ROTATIONS ON THE FRONT END WAS ABNORMAL BUT WAS WITHIN SPECS. I GAVE THEM A CHANCE AND SAID IF YOU WOULD WRITE ME A LETTER OR STATEMENT SAYING THAT THIS WEAR IS NORMAL AND IS NOT GOING TO AFFECT THE NORMAL WEAR ON THIS TRUCK I WILL SHUT UP AND LET IT REST. WASN'T GOING TO HAPPEN! THE PULLED A PRINT OUT STATING THEY COULDN'T FIND NOTHING WRONG WITH MY TRUCK. I IN THE MEANTIME HAVE CHECKED A FEW OF THE NEWER TRUCKS I'VE SEEN IN PARKING LOTS AND NOTICED ABOUT HALF THE TRUCKS HAVE THE SAME KIND OF PROBLEM SO I GUESS IM THE ONLY ONE PURSUING THE PROBLEM. I DON'T HAVE THE MONEY TO KEEP SINKING INTO THIS TRUCK. ON THE OLDER TRUCKS I'VE OWNED THE WEAR IM GETTING ON THESE TIRES LOOK LIKE SHOCK OR SUSPENSION PROBLEMS BUT THEY SAY NO WAY. LOSS OF CONTROL DUE TO AN UNKNOWN JIGGLE/BOUNCE, OUT OF BALANCE CONDITION. CONSUMER FELT DEALERSHIP LACKED TECHNICAL ABILITIES TO DIAGNOSE PROBLEM. TO DATE VEHICLE HAD 14 DIFFERENT NEW TIRES ON THE REAR AXLE. VEHICLE HAD BEEN SERVICED 10 TIMES. THE TIRE PRESSURE WAS ADJUSTED, THE FRONT AND REAR SUSPENSION CHECKED. REAR SWAY BAR WAS UNHOOKED. TIRES WERE BALANCED. HOWEVER PROBLEM STILL EXISTED. THERE WAS ALSO POOR FUEL MILEAGE AND AN EXHAUST ODOR. DUE TO SAFETY ISSUES CONSUMER IS RELUCTANT TO DRIVE VEHICLE. *TT *JB

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHILE TRAVELING AT 10 MPH, THE CONTACT APPLIED THE BRAKES AND THERE WAS AN INCREASE IN STOPPING DISTANCE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL WOULD SPORADICALLY FALL INTO THE FLOORBOARD WHEN DEPRESSED, CAUSING AN INCREASE IN STOPPING DISTANCE AND TIME. THE DEALER ADVISED THE VEHICLE WAS PERFORMING AS DESIGNED. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE MASTER CYLINDER WAS DEFECTIVE AND WAS NOT PRODUCING THE REQUIRED BRAKING PRESSURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 78,000. UPDATED 10/04/10. *LJ THE CONSUMER STATED THE ABS WAS FIXED UNDER RECALL. HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM HAS SINCE RETURNED. THE ABS FAILED UNDER 10 MPH. UPDATED 10/05/10. *JB
STEERING WHEEL PREVENTS CONSUMER FROM SEEING FOG LIGHT BUTTON. THERE IS A DOME OVER RIDE BUTTON. ALSO, HEADLIGHTS COME ON INTERMITTENTLY. DEALERSHIP IS AWARE OF PROBLEM. *AK
I OWN A 2002 CHEVROLET SILVERADO HD2500 4 DOOR DIESEL TRUCK. THE PASSENGER SIDE SEATBELT IN THE FRONT SEAT LOCKS AND TIGHTENS TO THE POINT THAT YOU LITERALLY CANNOT MOVE. YOU CAN BE ON SMOOTH ROAD, NOT TOUCHING THE BRAKES AND THE BELT WILL LOCK AND THE ONLY WAY TO RELEASE IT IS TO UNBUCKLE IT AND BUCKLE IT AGAIN. THEN IT WILL SOON LOCK AGAIN. IT IS A CONSTANT PROCESS MAKING THE BELT ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO WEAR. I HAVE HAD IT REPLACED AT MY DEALERSHIP 4 TIMES WITH ALL OF THEM THE SAME. IT IS LAW THAT YOU WEAR YOUR SEATBELT BUT THIS ONE IS NOT USEABLE. I HAVE COMPLAINED TO GM AND MY DEALERSHIP BUT AM TOLD THAT THERE IS NOTHING THAT CAN BE DONE AND TO GET USE TO IT! ALL I WANT IS A SEATBELT THAT WORKS PROPERLY AND SAFELY. PLEASE HELP.*AK

WHILE APPROACHING A STOP SIGN AT 30 MPH DRIVER STARTED TO APPLY THE BRAKES, AND THERE WAS NO RESPONSE. DRIVER USED ADDITIONAL PRESSURE BUT VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP. THEN BRAKES CAUGHT, AND DRIVER STOPPED VEHICLE. THIS PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED MORE THAN ONCE.*AK
THE CONSUMER STATED THAT THE FACTORY INSTALLED TRAILER HITCH HAS CRACKED AND HITCH WILDS HAVE SEPARATED. THE GM SERVICE MANGER DENIED ANY CRACKING AFTER INSPECTING THE HITCH. *YH
DT: THE CONSUMER STATES THAT THE BRAKES ON HIS 2002 CHEVROLET SILVERADO ARE SLUGGISH AND MAKING NOISE AND THEY FEEL LIKE THEY ARE GRABBING. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP 3 TIMES FOR THE BRAKES. THEY BRAKES FEEL LIKE THEY DO NOT STOP WHEN APPLYING BRAKE PRESSURE. THE BRAKE PEDAL FEELS SPONGY. THE DEALER CHANGED THREE ROTORS AND BRAKES PADS. THE DEALER COULD NOT GET THE ROTOR OFF ON THE BACK AND THE CONSUMER DID NOT KNOW WHAT WAS WRONG WITH IT. THE DEALERSHIP BROKE THE ABS SENSOR. THE CONSUMER TOOK THE TRUCK BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY REPLACED THE SENSOR. THE OWNER OF THE TRUCK HAS NEVER CONTACTED GM. THE VEHICLE IS REGULARLY MAINTAINED AND SERVICED. THE CONSUMER HAS EXPERICINED BRAKE PROBLEMS FOR 3 YEARS. *JB
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE HAS A BUMPY VIBRATION AND TENDS TO RUN OFF THE ROAD. DEALER ATTEMPTED TO REPAIR VEHICLE BUT DID NOT SUCCEED AND NOW STATING THAT NOTHING IS WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. PLEASE PROVIDE ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. TS
GEARSHIFT LINKAGE LOOSENED PREVENTING TRANSMISSION TO GO INTO PARK. *AK
FACTORY INSTALLED SIDE VIEW MIRRORS WILL ONLY ALLOW DRIVER TO SEE THE FRONT OF THE FENDER. CONSUMER NOT ABLE TO PASS OTHER VEHICLES SAFELY, FENDER IS BLOCKING DRIVERS VIEW. MIRRORS DO NOT EXTEND OUT FAR ENOUGH. *AK THE MIRRORS ON VEHICLE ARE NOT ADEQUATE TO ALLOW SAFE PASSING AND THERE IS AN INABILITY TO SEE VEHICLES ON THE SIDE. *JG
LOUD HARD KNOCKING NOISE COMING FROM ENGINE AT COLD START UP. THEN AFTER ENGINE IS WARMED UP AFTER DRIVING AND DECELERATION YOU CAN STILL HEAR THE KNOCKING NOISE, JUST NOT AS LOUD AS AT COLD START. TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP, AND ADVISED CHEVROLET WAS AWARE OF PROBLEM, AND DID NOT HAVE A SOLUTION. ADVISED BY DEALER IT WOULD NOT HURT ENGINE, BUT I DISAGREE, THE VERY HARD KNOCKING CAN NOT BE GOOD FOR THE VALVES, OR CRANKSHAFT, AND HAS TO BE CAUSING SOME SORT DAMAGE WITHIN THE ENGINE ITSELF.
