STEERING COLUMN/SHAFT FEELS AS IF ITS COMING LOOSE,TAKING TO DEALER TO FIX.*JB
I HAVE HAD SO MANY PROBLEMS WITH THIS TRUCK, HERE ARE SOME. ALTERNATOR, AIR BAG, BRAKES, ABS, STEERING BOX, WATER PUMP, BLOWER SWITCH, SPEEDOMETER, HORN. WHEN THE BLOWER SWITCH STARTED SMOKING MY GRANDSON TRIED TO JUMP OUT OF THE TRUCK WHILE IT WAS MOVING. MY DASH IS ALWAYS LIT WITH SOME TYPE OF PROBLEM.
ALL CAR MAKERS OF LIGHT TRUCKS INCLUDING THE 1500 SERIES (1/2 TON) SHOULD BE INSTALLING LT RATED TIRES OF AT LEAST 8 PLY RATINGS SINCE THE TRUCKS ARE BEING SOLD FOR AND USED TO HAUL TRAILERS AND HEAVY LOADS. IN PAST EXPERIENCE, I HAVE HAD TIRE FAILURES FROM THE PASSENGER CAR TIRES THAT CAME ON UNITS THAT WERE A RESULT OF BEING TOO SOFT ON THE SIDEWALL FOR SUPPORT OF CORNERING AND WEIGHT SHIFTING. *NM
I NOTICED AT ABOUT 29,500 MILES THAT THE POWER STEERING WAS NOT FUNCTIONING NORMALLY AT PARK OR LOW IDLE SPEEDS. ALSO THERE IS A CLUNKING IN THE STEERING COLUMN AT LOW SPEEDS AND WHILE TURNING. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 3500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER FIFTEEN TIMES FOR A VARIETY OF FAILURES. THERE WERE DEFECTIVE FUEL INJECTORS AND FUEL PUMPS, THE R& R INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT WAS REPLACED, AND THERE WAS AN OCCASIONAL TRANSMISSION LEAK. THE DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE LEAK. THE CONTACT ORDERED A SPARE TIRE, BUT IT WAS NEVER RECEIVED. HE CONSULTED THE MANUFACTURER, WHO ONLY INFORMED HIM THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS OR ISSUES WITH HIS VEHICLE. THE CONTACT ALSO SPOKE WITH THE STATE ATTORNEY GENERAL. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 22,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 500.
STEERING RATTLE BOTH FELT AND HEARD. RETURNED TO DEALER 5/18/2006 MILEAGE 18,310. INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT LUBE. PROBLEM RETURNED MONTHS LATER. WROTE TO GM, THEY SAID A NEW SHAFT WAS AVAILABLE BUT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY TO HAVE IT INSTALLED. I ASKED IF THERE WAS CHANCE OF STEERING FAILURE OR EXTREME TIRE WEAR, THEY SAID NO STUDIES HAVE BEEN DONE AND WOULD NOT PREDICT IF A STEERING FAILURE WOULD/WOULD NOT OCCUR. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH THE SERVICE AIR BAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE DASHBOARD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE HE WAS INFORMED THAT THE AIR BAG CONNECTION FAILED AND IT WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE HAS SINCE RECURRED TWICE. AFTER THE SECOND OCCURRENCE THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE IT WAS REPAIRED. IT WAS NOT REPAIRED AFTER THE THIRD OCCURRENCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 12,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 65,000.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE STALLS AT ANY SPEED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES. THE LEVEL SENSOR, FUEL INJECTION WIRING HARNESS, THE DIRECT FUEL INJECTION DRIVER, THE FUEL TANK, AND THE FUEL TANK MODULE HAVE BEEN REPLACED. THE SENDER PUMP ASSEMBLY WAS REPLACED TWICE. AFTER THE LAST REPLACEMENT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE DEALER COULD NOT DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM.
CONSUMER 2005 SILVERADO MAKES A VERY LOUD WIND BLOWING NOISE WHILE DRIVING. *TS *JB
TL* - THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. THE VEHICLE STARTED HAVING BRAKE PROBLEMS AT 4,000 MILES. THE BRAKES PULSATED AND SHOOK. THE DEALER ROTATED THE ROTORS AND CUT THEM DOWN TWICE. THE BRAKE PEDAL SHOOK WHEN IT WAS DEPRESSED. THE DEALER HAD TRIED SEVERAL FIXES, BUT THE BRAKE PROBLEM CONTINUED. THE CONTACT HAD AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE THE HUB SENSOR REPLACED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 13,000.*AK
STEERING MAKES A "SQUEALING" NOISE AT LOW SPEEDS WHILE TURNING TO THE RIGHT. I HAVE TAKEN THIS PROBLEM TO THE DEALER THE SOLD ME THE TRUCK SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE THEY IDENTIFIED THE PROBLEM. THEY CLAIM THAT IT IS COMMON ON THIS VEHICLE, BUT I AM THE ONLY ONE WHO SEEMS TO HAVE THE ISSUE. ORIGINAL DEALER WILL NOT ATTEMPT TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM EVEN THOUGH IT IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. *TR
VEHICLE STEERING SHAKES WHEN TURNING OR BREAKING. *NM
TIRE BLOW OUT, SIDE WALL FAILURE. THIS OCCURRED AT 70 MPH. NO INDICATION OF TIRE PROBLEM UNTIL FAILURE. *JB
2005 SILVERADO HYBRID ENGINE TURNS OFF AT STOPS WHEN BRAKE IS APPLIED. *TS THE HYBRID TURNS ENGINE OFF AT STOPS WHEN BRAKE IS APPLIED. THE CONSUMER FEELS THAT IT TAKES TOO LONG FOR THE ENGINE TO PICK UP POWER AFTER TAKING FOOT OFF THE BRAKE AND APPLYING THE ACCELERATOR. THE CONSUMER FEELS THAT THE DELAY IS DANGEROUS WHEN TRYING TO ENTER FAST MOVING TRAFFIC FROM A STOP. WHILE STOPPED ON AN INCLINE VEHICLE ROLLS BACKWARDS WHILE THE CONSUMER'S FOOT IS IN TRANSITION FROM THE BRAKE TO THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT ON DRY ROADS. TWO VEHICLES COLLIDED IN FRONT OF THE CONTACT, CAUSING AN EMERGENCY BRAKING SITUATION. THE CONTACT COLLIDED WITH THE REAR OF THE SECOND VEHICLE, AND THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CONTACT WAS INJURED IN THE ACCIDENT. AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP WAS CONSULTED AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE SPEEDOMETER IS INOPERABLE. THE DEALERSHIP DETERMINED THE SPEEDOMETER NEEDS TO BE REPLACED
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE TONNEAU COVER USED ON THE BED OF THE PICKUP TRUCK DOES NOT CATCH PROPERLY. THE CLIPS HOLDING THE LID IN PLACE ONLY CATCH 1/8" ON THE BED OF THE TRUCK. AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, THE LID OPENS AND THE CONTENTS OF THE TRUCK BED EJECTS. THE MANUFACTURER OF THE TONNEAU COVER IS STEFFENS ENTERPRISES INC. THE CONTACT HAS BEEN UNSUCCESSFUL IN CONTACTING THE MANUFACTURER. UPDATED 05/04/06
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE WHEEL MAKES A CLUNKING NOISE AND THE STEERING WHEEL IS INOPERABLE. THE DEALER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE SEVERAL TIMES AND WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE PROBLEM; HOWEVER THE STEERING SHAFT WAS LUBRICATED. ADDITIONALLY, AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND DETERMINED THE STEERING BOX WAS LOOSE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET SILVERADO (DIESEL). THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY BECAME UNRESPONSIVE AND DECELERATED. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT AFTER RESTARTING THE ENGINE, THE VEHICLE WOULD OPERATE NORMALLY. THE FAILURE WAS RECURRING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE FUEL PUMP WAS REPLACED AND REMEDIED THE DEFECT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000.
STEERING AND HANDLING IS COMPROMISED BY EXCESSIVE PLAY AND VIBRATION THROUGH THE STEERING WHEEL. STEERING WHEEL CHATTERS WHEN CORNERING AND VIBRATES WHEN TRAVELING OVER THE ROAD. *TR
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE STEERING COLUMN KNOCKED AT ANY SPEED. THE DEALERSHIP GREASED THE STEERING COLUMN, BUT THIS DID NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP, BUT THE SERVICE MANAGER STATED THERE WERE NO REPAIRS AVAILABLE AND THE STEERING COLUMN WOULD BE GREASED AGAIN.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE STEERING COLUMN MADE A CLUNKING NOISE. THIS WAS MORE FREQUENT WHEN MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION AND THE STEERING COLUMN WAS GREASED. THIS REPAIR WORKED FOR A SHORT TIME. HOWEVER, THE STEERING COLUMN AGAIN MAKES THE CLUNKING NOISE.
2005 CHEVROLET CREW CAB 1/2 TON TWO WHEEL DRIVE HAS HAD A VIBRATION WHILE DRIVING AND WHILE BRAKING SINCE THE FIRST TEST DRIVE. THE SALESMAN PROMISED IT WAS JUST THE TIRES WITH FLAT SPOTS AND WOULD GO AWAY. JOHN KEATING CHEVY. AS CHANGED THE FRONT ROTORS THE BACK DRUMS, TWO TIRES ALIGNED THE FRONT END PUT IN STEERING KIT. THE TRUCK STILL HAS THE VIBRATION AND NOW THE FRONT LEFT AND THE REAR BRAKES ARE LOCKING UP. IF YOU BRAKE HARD THE BRAKES SKIDS ON THE LEFT SIDE. I HAVE CONTACTED CUSTOMER SERVICE THEY WILL NOT RETURN MY CALLS. I WAS AT THE DEALERSHIP ON 2/21/06 I TRIED TO TALK THE OWNER I LEFT MY NAME AND I WAS THERE FOR 5 HOURS HE NEVER CONTACTED ME. I CALLED HIM THAT NIGHT AROUND 6:15 AND SPOKE WITH HIM, HE WANTS TO RIDE IN THE TRUCK, I CALLED THE NEXT AFTERNOON LEFT MY NUMBER AND ASKED FOR APPOINTMENT. I CALLED AGAIN 2/23/06 AROUND 2:00 AGAIN I LEFT MY NUMBER. *JB
2005 SILVERADO PICKUP. HEATER FAN MOTOR RESISTOR MELTING WIRES TOO A POINT THAT THE WIRES COULDN'T BE TOUCHED WITHOUT BEING BURNED. WARRANTY EXPIRED BUT PROBLEM EXISTS. TOLD DEALERSHIP THAT I THOUGHT IT WAS A SAFETY ISSUE. IE: IF COMBUSTIBLE MATERIALS WERE TO COME INTO CONTACT THERE WOULD MOST LIKELY BE A FIRE. *TR
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE RATTLED, KNOCKED AND THE STEERING WHEEL HAD EXCESSIVE PLAY. THE DEALER REPLACED THE SHORT SHAFT ON THE STEERING MECHANISM, HOWEVER THE PROBLEM RECURRED. THE INTERMEDIATE SHAFT WAS REPLACED. UPDATED 02/27/07. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT 50 MPH ON A HIGHWAY A HISSING NOISE WAS HEARD AS IF THERE WAS AIR LEAKING, FOLLOWED BY THE REAR END OF THE VEHICLE SWAYING. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER, AND THE CONTACT DISCOVERED THE LEFT REAR TIRE BLEW OUT ALONG THE SIDEWALL AREA. THERE WERE NO OBVIOUS ROAD HAZARDS. THE TIRE INDICATOR WARNING LIGHTS DID NOT ILLUMINATE, AND THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED ANY PRIOR PROBLEMS WITH THE TIRES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER COLLECTED THE TIRE, AND A MANUFACTURER REPRESENTATIVE INSPECTED THE TIRE. UNDER THE REPRESENTATIVELY INSTRUCTION THE DEALER REPLACED THE TIRE. THE MANUFACTURERS RECOMMENDED TIRE PRESSURE TO BE 35 PSI; HOWEVER, THE CONTACT KEPT THE PRESSURE AT 40 PSI. THE CONTACT BELIEVED THE TIRES ON THE VEHICLE WERE INCORRECT, BUT THE MANUFACTURER HAD THE EXACT SAME TIRES LISTED ON THE RECOMMENDATION STICKER ON THE VEHICLE ITSELF. THE TIRES ARE GENERAL AMERI-TRAC P245/70/R17 AND WERE THE ORIGINAL TIRES AT PURCHASE. *AK THE CONTACT'S FATHER OWNS A 2003, CHEVROLET IMPALA WHICH IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY AND HAD THE SAME EXACT FAILURE ON TWO OCCASIONS. THE FIRST TIME THE DEALER, SERVICE CHEVROLET, REPLACED THE COMPUTER. THE SECOND TIME THE CAR HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THE IGNITION SWITCH WAS REPLACED. THE PROBLEM WITH THESE VEHICLES CAN LEAD TO A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION IF HEAT IS NEEDED IN THE CAR DURING THE WINTER, BUT IT WILL NOT START. CONTACT MAINTAINS THAT THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL. *AK
STEERING: (1) ENGINE VIBRATION FELT IN STEERING AND SEAT WHEN BRAKES APPLIED. DEALERSHIP SAID EXCESSIVE AND SAID IT WAS THE POWERSTEERING HOSE BRINGING IN THE ENGINE VIBRATION. NO FIX. STARTED IN 2006 AND CONTINUES. (2) INTERMEDIATE IDLER ARM CAUSING KNOCKING FEEL IN STEERING WHEEL WHEN GOING OVER THE SLIGHTEST OF BUMPS. MANUFACTURE KNOWS OF PROBLEM AND ONLY BANDAIDS PROBLEM BY GREASING PART. ONCE WARRANTY IS OUT, NO FREE GREASING/LABOR. PROBLEM STARTED WITHIN 1ST YEAR AND CONTINUES. YOU HAVE TO TAKE PARTS A PART TO APPLY GREASE TO LOCATION. NO MORE GM FOR ME OR MY FAMILY OF 7 CHILDREN, AND ANY GRANDCHILDREN I AM EVER ASKED TO CO-SIGN FOR. *TR
I PURCHASED THIS (CURRENTLY 87,000 MILES) TRUCK NEW IN LATE 2004. I HAVE REPLACED THE STEERING GEAR TWICE (AT 20,227 AND 86,033 MILES). THE POWER STEERING PUMP TWICE (AT 32,379 AND 86,033 MILES). AND THE POWER STEERING SHAFT TWICE (AT 31,087 AND 42,169 MILES). WHILE THIS IS ON ITS THIRD POWER STEERING PUMP, EACH OF THE FIRST 2 PUMPS HAD TO BE INSPECTED FOR REPAIRS DUE TO NOISES WHEN IT WAS IN FOR SERVICE. WHILE THE MANUFACTURER ISSUED BULLETINS FOR THESE PARTS AFTER RECEIVING COMPLAINTS FROM CUSTOMERS ABOUT FAILURES, THE MANUFACTURER HAS NOT RECALLED THESE PARTS.
VEHICLE AT LOW SPEEDS WHEN BRAKES ARE APPLIED CAN BECOME HARD TO CHANGE DIRECTION OF TRAVEL. *NM
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 2500. THE DRIVER SIDE TAIL LIGHT CONTINUES TO FAIL. A LOCAL MECHANIC INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND STATED THAT THE LIGHT BULB WAS MELTING AND DISABLED THE PRONGS FORM TOUCHING, THUS CAUSING THE BULB TO FAIL. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 62,000.
DT: THE CONTACT STATED ON THREE OCCASIONS THE HEATER FAILED WHILE IN USE. THE FIRST AND SECOND TIME THE DEALERSHIP CLEANED THE HEATER CORE. THE THIRD TIME, THE WATER PUMP WAS REPLACED. THERE HAVE BEEN NO FURTHER PROBLEMS. *AK
IN JUNE OF 2005 I PURCHASED A 2005 CHEVROLET 2500HD WITH THE CAMP EXTENDABLE MIRRORS. UPON LEAVING THE DEALERSHIP I CALLED THE SALES REP AND TOLD HIM THE MIRRORS WERE SHAKING AND I COULD NOT IDENTIFY VEHICLES BEHIND ME. I WAS TOLD DON'T WORRY FOR I WILL HAVE REPLACEMENT MIRRORS ORDERED TOMORROW. I WAS ALLOWED BY GM A REPLACEMENT OF THE DRIVERS SIDE ONLY FOR IT WAS THE WORST. THE REPLACEMENT PROVIDES NO CHANGE PER THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN , BUT HE WAS NOT ALLOWED TO ORDER ANOTHER MIRROR FOR GM HAD RELEASED A BULLETIN OF THE MIRROR ISSUE. I CONTACTED GM RECEIVING NO RECOURSE AND NO ISSUE DATE OF A POSSIBLE FIX. ON 11-28 2005 I WAS INVOLVED IN A ACCIDENT BECAUSE I BELIEVE I WAS STARING IN THE MIRROR AND SIDE SWIPED A DUMP TRUCK THAT CROSSED THE MEDIAN,AND I DID NOT REACT IN TIME TO AVOID THIS ACCIDENT. I HAVE FILED FOR THE FLORIDA LEMON LAW BECAUSE GM TELLS ME "IT'S ONLY MIRRORS AND WE KNOW ABOUT IT SO WHEN THERE IS A FIX YOU WILL BE NOTIFIED. THE 2006'S HAVE THE CURE!!! *NM
DT: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH THE SHAFT WENT INTO THE POWER STEERING PUMP AND BROKE IT. THIS CAUSED THE STEERING AND BRAKES NOT TO WORK. HE WAS ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE WITH THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY REPLACED THE POWER STEERING PUMP. THE MANUFACTURER HAS BEEN NOTIFIED AND THERE HAVE BEEN NO FURTHER PROBLEMS. *AK UPDATED 01/04/06. *JB
VEHICLE QUITS RUNNING ANYTIME, BRAKES AND STEERING "HARD", DEAD BATTERY LIKE SYMPTOM AND WILL NOT START OR RESTART AFTER QUITTING. *TR
I HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE IN THE SIDE, IT WAS TRAVELING APPROX. 55 MPH. I WAS PULLING INTO A WALMART AND CROSSING 2 LANES OF TRAFFIC. UPON IMPACT I PUSHED THE OTHER VEHICLE OFF THE ROAD FROM HER INSIDE LANE. THE AIRBAG ON MY VEHICLE NEVER DEPLOYED. I WAS TOLD BY THE REPAIR SHOP THAT THE IMPACT WASN'T HARD ENOUGH TO CAUSE THE AIRBAG TO DEPLOY. THAT IS WHY I NEVER REPORTED THE ACCIDENT UNTIL NOW. JUST RECENTLY THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON AND WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER THEY SAID IT NEEDED A NEW FRONT BUMPER IMPACT SENSOR FOR $549.00. I HAD CONTACTED GM ABOUT AND THEY SAID SINCE THERE WAS OVER 100,000 MI. THEY COULD NOT DO ANYTHING. I HAVE SINCE LEARNED THERE HAVE BEEN MYRIAD COMPLAINTS ON THIS VEHICLE FOR THE SAME THING. IT SEEMS TO ME THAT THERE ARE AMPLE ENOUGH COMPLAINTS FOR THE NHTSB TO ORDER A RECALL. I PLAN ON DOING THE REPAIR MYSELF. THE PART COSTS $90. *TR
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE STALLED INTERMITTENTLY WHILE DRIVING 50-60 PH. THIS HAPPENS WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALERSHIP BUT THEY WERE UNABLE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THE CONTACT BELIEVES THIS IS AN ELECTRICAL OR ENGINE PROBLEM. UPDATED 2/28/2006 - THE CONSUMER SMELLED SOMETHING BURNING AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO BLOW FUSES. THE TECHNICIAN FOUND A SHOTED WIRE UNDER THE STEERING COLUMN. *NM
RT FRONT TIRE BLEW OUT ON MY 2005 SILVERADO WHILE DRIVING. TIRE ONLY HAD 2500 MILES ON IT. IT WAS A BRIDGESTONE DUELLER A/T TIRE. I AM GOING TO CONTACT THE DEALER ON OCT 31 TO FIND OUT IF MY TIRE WILL BE REPLACED ALONG WITH THE RIM. CAUSED LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL AND COULD HAVE CAUSED MAJOR DAMAGE OR DEATH IF FAILURE HAPPENED AT SPEED OR ON CROWDED ROAD. *NM

AT 38,000 MILES ON 2004 CHEVY SILVERADO Z71 THE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON AND WOULD NOT GO OFF. THE REAR VIEW MIRROR WHICH TELLS IF SOMEONE IS RIDING ON THE PASSENGER FRONT IS OFF. THERE IS NO WAY TO TELL IF THEY WILL WORK WHEN NEEDED OR NOT. *NM
DT: THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. WHILE DRIVING ON A STEEP CURVE HE HAD TO PANIC BRAKE TO AVOID GOING OVER AN EMBANKMENT. THE BRAKES LOCKED AND WOULD NOT ALLOW THE VEHICLE TO SLOW DOWN OR STOP. THE VEHICLE HIT THE GROUND AND PROCEEDED TO FLIP OVER. THE VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAGS. UPON IMPACT THE FRONT AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN INSPECTED TO DETERMINE WHY THE BRAKES LOCKED UP OR WHY THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. HE HAS NOT CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER OR THE SERVICE DEALER. *AK
FAILURE OF THE 4 X 4 CONTROL MODULE AND AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SHIFT MOTOR. WHILE DRIVING THE TRANSFER CASE SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL, PRESSING THE 2HI BUTTON CAUSED THE TRANSFER CASE TO LOCK UP. THE TRUCK WAS SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AND WAS DEAD STEERED TO THE SHOULDER. COMPLETE REPLACEMENT OF BOTH MODULE AND MOTOR REPLACED $1972.00 DOLLARS, TRUCK ONLY HAD 58,237 MI. *TR

DT: THE CONTACT STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS AT 1,000 MILES WITH THE TIRES. THE TIRES STARTED FEATHERING ON THE OUTSIDE EDGES. AT 2,700 MILES THE DEALER REPLACED THE FRONT TIRES ON 10-6-05. THE REAR TIRES ALSO STARTED TO FEATHER. THE DEALERSHIP REFUSED TO REPLACE THE REAR TIRES UNDER WARRANTY. THE FRONT END ALIGNMENT WAS PERFORMED AT THAT TIME. IN REGARD TO THE ALIGNMENT, THE CAMBER, CASTER, TOE IN, AND TOE OUT WERE ALL DETERMINED OUT OF ADJUSTMENT ON ALL FOUR SIDES FROM THE FACTORY. THIS WAS DETERMINED BY THE DEALERSHIP. AFTER THE NEW TIRES AND THE FRONT END ALIGNMENT WAS DONE THE VEHICLE STILL PULLED TO THE LEFT EXTREMELY HARD. *AK
MY 2005 DURAMAX DIESEL HAS REPEATEDLY HAD THE RIGHT REAR BRAKE/TAIL LIGHT GO OUT. I HAVE HAD THE BULB REPLACED ONCE BY DEALER, AND PAID FOR IT. AND THE REST OF THE 4 TIMES MY HUSBAND AND I HAVE REPLACED THE BULB AS THE DEALERSHIP COST TO REPLACE A BULB IS 5 X'S THE COST OF THE BULB. DT: THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500 PICK-UP TRUCK. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY SHUT OFF. IT LOST STEERING AND BRAKING CAPABILITIES. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ENGINE OIL RESET LIGHT FLICKERED ON AND OFF AFTER THE INCIDENT OCCURRED. AFTER A FEW MINUTES THE VEHICLE STARTED BACK UP. THE CONTACT STATED AFTER DRIVING A FEW MORE MILES THE VEHICLE REPEATED THE SAME PROBLEM. THE CONTACT CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER, AND THEY HAD A CONFERENCE CALL WITH THE DEALERSHIP, WHO STATED THEY WOULD REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE DEALERSHIP HAS NOT YET PICKED UP THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT CALLED THE DEALERSHIP, AND THEY WERE GOING TO CALL THE CONSUMER BACK WITHIN THE NEXT FEW MINUTES. *AK
I HAD AN ACCIDENT ON TUESDAY SEPT. 20, 2005 DRIVING MY 2005 CHEVY PICKUP K2500 HD 4 WHEEL DRIVE. I LOST CONTROL AND WENT OFF HIGHWAY STRIKING A CITY DUMPSTER HEADON AND MOVING THE DUMPSTER APPROXIMATELY 50-60 FT. BY POLICE REPORT AND THAN GOING BACK ON HIGHWAY AND CROSSING ALL 4 LANES BEFORE THE TRUCK STOPPED. MY TRUCK WAS TOTALED BUT MY AIRBAG NEVER DEPLOYED. I WAS UNCONSCIOUS AND WAS AIRLIFTED TO VANDERBILT HOSPITAL IN NASHVILLE TN. WHY DIDN'T MY AIRBAG DEPLOY WITH A HEADON CRASH OF THIS FORCE? THIS SEEMS TO BE A DEFECT IN THE PRODUCT. I RECEIVED A 4 INCH CUT ACROSS THE BOTTOM OF MY CHIN THAT REQUIRED SEVERAL STITCHES AND VERY SORE FROM MY HEAD DOWN MY RIGHT LEG. STILL FOLLOWING UP WITH DOCTORS.... *NM
1. DRIVEN VEHICLE FOR 5,600 MILES, NO SPECIAL EVENTS 2. WHILE IN REVERSE, VEHICLE ACCELERATES AND DECELERATES WITHOUT PUSHING ON THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. 3. COMPUTER REPLACED AFTER WE REFUSED TO DRIVE, GM SAID VEHICLE WAS SAFE TO DRIVE. *NM
DT: HAD A TIRE BLOW OUT ON THE PASSENGERS SIDE. THIS HAPPENED ON SEPTEMBER 18, 2005. CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER OF TRAILER, AND THEY REPAIRED IT. HOWEVER, THE INSURANCE COMPANY PAID FOR IT. TOOK THE TIRE TO THE MECHANIC AT DEALERSHIP, AND HE SAW NO REASON WHY THIS HAPPENED. THE TIRE WAS NOT DRY ROTTED AND OF THE TREAD CAME OFF. *AK
DT: THE FUEL PUMP AND THE FUSE BLEW OUT. THIS OCCURRED WHILE THE CONSUMER WAS DRIVING ON SEPTEMBER 17, 2005. THERE WAS NO WARNING BEFORE THIS OCCURRED. THE DEALERSHIP WAS THE ONE THAT DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM. THEY REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP AND THE PCMB FUSE. THE PROBLEM HAS NOT RECURRED SINCE. *AK *NM
