2005 CHEVY PICKUP RECEIVER HITCH . AFTER PULLING A 6000 LB TRAILER SEVERAL TIMES MY RECEIVER HITCH HAS WORN THIN AND THE DRAWBAR SLAPS AROUND IN THE 2" HOLE. THE 5/8" HITCH PIN HAS WORN THE 5/8" HOLE ELLIPTICAL. *TR
WIRING HARNESS FIRE OCCURRED IN A 2006 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. FIRE IS BEING FURTHER INVESTIGATED. *TR
MY 2006 SILVERADO [ AFTER DEALER CHANGED FRONT BRAKE PADS] STARTED LOW SPEED ABS ACTIVATION. I ALMOST WENT THROUGH A STOP SIGN. DEALER SAYS OVER 36,000 NO WARRANTY WORK. I HAD TO REMOVE ABS FUSE TO DRIVE TRUCK. I HAD 36,300 MILES AT TIME IF OCCURRENCE. *TR
POPPING NOISE FROM STEERING,WHEN TURNING ON IRREGULAR SURFACES WHICH CAN ALSO BE FELT IN STEERING WHEEL,LEADING DRIVER TO BELIEVE THAT THERE IS A DEFECT IN THE FRONT SUSPENSION OR STEERING. CONTACT W/DEALER SERVICE MANAGER INDICATED THAT THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE ON FULL SIZE GM TRUCKS FOR SEVERAL YEARS,RESULTING FROM A POORLY DESIGNED"INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT",WHICH APPARENTLY NEEDS TO BE REPLACED EVERY FEW THOUSAND MILES TO FORESTALL THIS PROBLEM. RESEARCH SHOWS THAT THIS ISSUE IS WELL KNOWN TO OWNERS OF SUCH VEHICLES AND GM AS THERE HAVE BEEN TSBS(PATCH-UP)ISSUED MULTIPLE TIMESTHESE BULLETINS SEEM TO INDICATE BASICALLY TO GREASE THE PART,THEREBY TEMPORARILY QUIETING IT FOR A TIME WITH NO PERMANENT RESOLUTION,UNTIL OWNER IS "OFF-WARRANTY"SNF WILLING TO SHELL OUT THE OUT OF POCKET COSTS FOR CORRECT REPAIR. MY VEHICLE(2006) WAS PURCHASED NEW WITH A STANDARD 3 YR/36000MI WARRANTY WHICH EXPIRED 3/09 DATEWISE,HOWEVER THE VEHICLE ONLY HAS 11000 HIGHWAY MILES ON IT AND HAS NEVER BEEN USED OFF-ROAD OR ABUSED. APPARENTLY GM HAS,AS OF 01/07 A REDESIGNED REPLACEMENT PART(PER GM TSB)BUT,IS AT OWNERS COST(PARTS/LABOR) IF YOUR 3YR/36000 OR 2007-ON 5/50 WARRANTY HAS PASSED ITS DATE/MILEAGE TIME. I FIND IT QUITE IRRITATING THAT ALTHOUGH GM AND AFTERMARKET SUPPLIERS HAVE BEEN AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM FOR NEARLY 2 DECADES THEY KNOWINGLY CONTINUED TO UTILIZE A SUBSTANDARD PART UNTIL 2007. ALSO IT APPEARS A WARRANTY"EXTENSION"REGARDING THIS PART HAS BEEN ISSUED FOR 2007+MODELS UP TO 70KMI,HOWEVER DEALER DENIES KNOWLEDGE. GM CUSTOMER SERVICE SAYS TO HAVE PROBLEM"DIAGNOSED"(AT MY EXPENSE),AND IF PROBLEM EXISTS,DEALER CAN MAKE REPAIRS(AT MY EXPENSE).MAYBE IF I(DISABLED) HAD $300-400 SPARE CASH LAYING AROUND I COULD AFFORD THEIR GAME BUT CANNOT. *TR
HEATED SEAT IN A 2006 CHEVROLET SILVERADO Z71, HEAT COMES ON BY ITSELF, GETS EXTREMELY HOT. TOOK IT TO A DEALER AND WAS TOLD IF IT DID NOT COME ON IN THE SHOP THEY COULD NOT FIND THE PROBLEM, DID NOT SHOW UP ON THE COMPUTER. THIS HAPPENS ALMOST DAILY. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHILE DRIVING IN REVERSE OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY AND APPLYING PRESSURE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE ANTILOCK BRAKE SYSTEM ACTIVATED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO CONTINUE DRIVING NORMALLY. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WHENEVER PROCEEDING TO A COMPLETE STOP. THE AUTHORIZED DEALER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE MALFUNCTION. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED AT THIS TIME. THE CONTACT HAD CONCERNS OF THE SAFETY RISK INVOLVED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 49,000.
I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING UNINTENDED ABS ACTIVATION AT LOW SPEEDS (BELOW 7 MPH). THIS MAY RESULT IN A LOW SPEED COLLISION CAUSING PROPERTY DAMAGE AND BODILY INJURY DUE TO THE VEHICLE NOT STOPPING IN THE MANOR IN WHICH IT IS DESIGNED. *TR

2006 CHEVROLET SILVERADO RIGHT FRONT TIRE BEGAN TO SHAKE, SMOKE, AND CAUGHT FIRE ON THE WESTBOUND OF THE OHIO TURNPIKE. *KB OHIO TRAFFIC CRASH REPORT # 10-0769-91
MY 2006 DURMAX DIESEL 2500 TRUCK HAS TRANSMISSION HOSES THAT RUN FROM THE TRANSMISSION TO THE RADIATOR. THESE HOSES HAVE ALUMINUM PIECES ON EACH END AND THEY SEEP OIL AT THE JOINT WHERE THE ALUMINUM JOINS A PIECE OF RUBBER HOSE IN THE CENTRE. THEY CONTINUOUSLY LEAK TRANSMISSION OIL ON THE GROUND AT THIS CRIMP JOIN. THE COLDER THE WEATHER, THE WORSE THESE HOSES LEAK. I FEEL BECAUSE OF THE DAMAGE THIS OIL CAUSES TO OUR FISH STOCKS AND THE ENVIRONMENT THESE HOSES SHOULD BE RECALLED AND REPLACED A CHEVROLET'S EXPENSE. TO DATE SO FAR, ALL ATTEMPTS I'VE MADE TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM, AT KELOWNA CHEVY OR HEAD OFFICE HAVE FAILED. THEY ARE NOW INTERESTED. PLEASE GIVE ADVICE. *TR
BLOWER FAN FOR HEAT AND A/C STOPPED WORKING. REPLACED RESISTOR ASSEMBLY AND IT WORKED FOR ABOUT THREE DAYS.CHECKED TO SEE WHAT WAS THE MATTER AND SAW THAT THE CONNECTION HAD MELTED. *TR
AUTOMANTIC CLIMATE CONTROL BLOWS HOT AIR ON THE DRIVERS SIDE WHEN AIR CONDITIONER IS OPERATING ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. WILL RESET WHEN ENGINE IS TURNED OFF AND THEN BACK ON. *TR
ON 7/22/09 WE PURCHASED 2 NEW TIRES AND HAD THEM INSTALLED ON THE FRONT OF OUR 2006 CHEVY 3500 CREW CAB DUALLY. THESE WERE PURCHASED BECAUSE WE WERE TAKING A 2000+ MILE TRIP ON 7/24. ON 7/24 ONE OF THESE NEW MICHELIN TIRES LT 215/8516 LTZ MS BLEW OUT - A COMPLETE TIRE FAILURE, WHILE WE WERE ON I-44 AT HIGH SPEED. NO INJURIES AND NO OTHER VEHICLES INVOLVED, BUT WE REPORT THIS IN CASE IT INDICATES A SAFETY-RELATED DEFECT TREND EXISTS. *TR
2006 CHEVROLET 1500 DUAL AIR CONDITIONER CONTROL BLOWS HEAT ON DRIVER'S SIDE WHILE BLOWING COLD ON PASSENGER'S SIDE (EVEN THOUGH THE AC IS SET FOR BOTH SIDES). WIRING HARNESS HAS A SHORT ON THE BLOWER, WHICH PRODUCES A BURNING SMELL. *TR
GENERAL MOTORS PICKUP HOOD MOUNTED LATCH FATIGUE. I HAVE NOTICED COMPLETE SEPARATION AND SEVERE WEAR IN THE WELDED ENGINE COMPARTMENT HOOD LATCH THAT COULD RESULT IN THE HOOD COMING UP AT HIGH SPEED AND EITHER BLINDING THE DRIVER OR THE HOOD SEPARATING FROM THE VEHICLE UPON FAILURE OF THE HOOD LATCH. *TR
LEAVING THE CAR WASH, FAN QUIT WORKING AND I SMELLED A BURNING ODOR. PIGTAIL TO RESISTOR HAD A BURNT WIRE. GOT PIGTAIL FROM DEALER FOR $95.00. PARTS MANAGER TOLD ME THEY REPLACE 4 OR 5 A MONTH. STILL DIDN'T FIX THE PROBLEM. PURCHASED FAN RESISTOR FROM AUTO PARTS STORE. PROBLEM FIXED. APRIL 2010 THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN. WENT TO SALVAGE YARD AND GOT 2 USED PIGTAILS AND INSTALLED ONE OF THEM. RESISTOR SEEMED TO BE OK. APPROX. NOVEMBER 2011 RECEIVED LETTER FROM GENERAL MOTORS SAYING THEY WOULD REIMBURSE ME FOR THE PARTS. I DID GET $95.00 BACK FOR THE PIGTAIL BUT COULDN'T FIND THE RECEIPT FOR THE RESISTOR. APRIL 2015 PROBLEM OCCURRING AGAIN. I STILL HAVE ONE USED PIGTAIL I WILL HAVE TO INSTALL, MAYBE THE RESISTOR. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL. IF I PARK MY TRUCK IN THE GARAGE I TAKE A CHANCE OF BURNING DOWN MY HOUSE. PLEASE SOMEONE DO SOMETHING. *TR
2006 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500, BLOWER MOTOR RESISTOR CONNECTOR OVERHEATED AND MELTED THE WIRING HARNESS AND CONNECTOR. FIRE COULD HAVE RESULTED. HAVE READ ONLINE HOW FIRES HAVE ACTUALLY OCCURRED. NEED RECALL IMMEDIATELY. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR CONDITIONING AND HEATER FAN MODULE MELTED TWICE. THE CONTACT REPLACED THE MODULE AND WIRES ONCE. THE SECOND FAILURE OCCURRED OCTOBER 2010. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER WHO TOOK A COMPLAINT BUT OFFERED NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 40,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 51,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WHEEL BEARING OVERHEATED AND WAS REPLACED BY THE DEALER. THE DEALER STATED THAT IT IS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE THE OTHER THREE WHEEL BEARINGS FAIL BECAUSE THE MANUFACTURER USED DEFECTIVE MATERIAL AND GREASE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 64,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH THE ABS WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT CONTROL PANEL, AND THEN THERE WAS A LOUD NOISE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE WHEEL SPEED SENSOR WOULD HAVE TO BE CLEANED. SINCE THE REPAIR, THE SENSORS WERE CLEANED FOUR TIMES. THE REPAIRS HAVE NOT REMEDIED THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 22,300.
UNWANTED ABS ACTIVATION ON 2006 CHEVROLET SILVERADO TRUCK DUE TO DEFECTIVE/CORRODED HUB/BEARING ASSEMBLY-WHEEL SPEED SENSOR. UNWANTED ABS ACTIVATION BETWEEN 4 AND 10 MPH THEREBY INCREASING STOPPING DISTANCE. GM ISSUED A RECALL FOR PRIOR MODEL YEARS OF SAME VEHICLE WITH THE SAME ISSUE UNDER #05068C: PRODUCT SAFETY - FRONT WHEEL SPEED SENSOR CORROSION - ( MARCH 6, 2008). *TR
THE ABS ON MY 2006 SILVERADO ACTIVATES ON LOW SPEED STOPS ON DRY PAVEMENT CAUSING THE BRAKES TO RELEASE. I HAVE ALMOST REAR-ENDED VEHICLES BECAUSE OF THIS. THE DEALER SAYS I HAVE TO PAY TO GET IT FIXED. I'VE BEEN OUT OF WARRANTY FOR ONLY 2 MONTHS AND THERE'S ONLY 19,000 MILES ON THE TRUCK. THERE'S A CHEVY TECH BULLETIN OUT ON THE PROBLEM TOO. WHY HASN'T THERE BEEN A RECALL? HOW CAN I GET THE DEALER TO CORRECT THIS FLAW IN THEIR ABS SYSTEM WITHOUT PAYING $700? *TR
SUDDEN WHEEL BEARING BREAKUP ON 2006 CHEVY SILVERADO PICKUP 4W ON DRIVERS SIDE FRONT WHEEL IN MAY 2008. SAME OCCURRENCE ON PASSENGER FRONT WHEEL IN APRIL 2009. THIS PICKUP HAD LESS THAN 19,000 MILES AND WAS HIGHWAY DRIVEN. HAD TO HAVE IMMEDIATE REPAIR BOTH TIMES (REPLACEMENT) AND PAID $377 SECOND TIME AS DID NOT GO TO GM DEALER FOR REPAIR. TRAVELING IN ARIZONA AND WENT TO NEAREST GARAGE FOR REPAIR. HAVE OLD PART WHICH WAS MANUFACTURED BY FEDERAL MOGUL CORPORATION. NO CONSEQUENCE AS WE STOPPED DRIVING AS SOON AS WE HEARD THE NOISE OF THE BREAKUP TO AVOID LOSING A TIRE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF, THE BLOWER MOTOR REMAINED ON AND THE CONTACT HAD TO CONSTANTLY DISCONNECT THE BATTERY. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE BLOWER CONTROL MOTOR PREMATURELY FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED BY THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL TO ADDRESS THE REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 160,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 2500. IN MARCH OF 2007, THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE TIRE VALVE STEM FAILED WITHOUT WARNING. ON MARCH 28, 2009, BOTH THE FRONT AND REAR DRIVER'S SIDE VALVE STEMS FAILED LIKE THE ONE IN 2007. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED BY THE TIRE COMPANY THAT THE VALVE STEMS WERE CRACKING, BUT COULD NOT PROVIDE AN EXPLANATION FOR THE FAILURES. THE CONTACT FEELS THAT THE VALVE STEMS ARE FAULTY AND DEFECTIVE AND SHOULD BE REPLACED BY THE MANUFACTURER. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 8,500.
INTERMITTENT STEERING SHAFT AND COLUMN BEARING MAKES CLUNKING NOISE AND GRADUALLY BECOMES HARDER TO STEER OVER TIME. EVEN AFTER REPLACING THE COLUMN THE PROBLEM WILL RETURN ABOUT EVERY 10,000 - 20,000 MILES! THIS ALSO GIVES EXCESSIVE TIRE WARE. THIS IS AN ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN! *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 2500. THE CONTACT PLACED A SNOW PLOW ON THE VEHICLE. WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH, THE FRONT DIFFERENTIALS AND AXLES FAILED. THE CONTACT CALLED THE GM MANUFACTURER AND THEY STATED THAT HE SHOULD HAVE NOT PLACED A SNOW PLOW ON A DIESEL VEHICLE. THE CONTACT FEELS THAT THE VEHICLE IS UNSAFE BECAUSE HE IS UNABLE TO STEER. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 50,000.
HEATER FAN WOULD NOT WORK SOME TIMES. SMELL ELECTRICAL BURNING. REPLACED A MELTED CONNECTOR & RESISTOR. PARTS NOT AVAILABLE. *TR
FRONT HUB/WHEEL BEARING FAILED AT 37,000 MILES. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 3500. WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN 55-60 MPH ON NORMAL ROAD CONDITIONS, THE VEHICLE VIBRATED UNEXPECTEDLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR INSPECTION AND THEY STATED THAT THE TORQUE CAUSED SEPARATION OF THE CENTRAL DIFFERENTIAL. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. IN ADDITION, THE MAINFRAME CRACKED IN HALF, BUT WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE WAS POSSIBLY CONTRIBUTED TO THE WEIGHT OF THE SNOWPLOWS OR DIESEL. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE UNAVAILABLE.
POWER STEERING FAILS AND SINCE THE POWER STEERING PUMP CONTROLS THE HYDOBOOST IT AFFECTS THE POWER BRAKES OF THE VEHICLE. WHEN THE POWER STEERING PUMP FAILS YOU LOOSE POWER BRAKES AND THE VEHICLE MOVES FORWARD AT A BRISK PACE UNTIL YOU FORCEFULLY PUT BOTH FEET ON THE BRAKE PEDAL AND PUSH DOWN WITH ALL THE POWER YOU CAN TO STOP THE TRUCK. SINCE THIS HAS HAPPENED 4 TIMES I REALIZE IMMEDIATLY WHAT THE PROBELEM WAS AND APPLIED ALL THE PEDAL POWER I COULD TO STOP THE TRUCK. THIS CAN BE AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM AND SINCE THE DEALER CANNOT DUPLICATE THE ISSUE, THEY WILL NOT REPLACE THE POWER STEERING PUMP UNTIL IT FAILS COMPLETELY, WHICH MINE FINALLY DID. 6 MONTHS LATER THE REPLACEMENT PUMP IS DOING THE SAME INTERMITTENT FAILURE AND THE DEALER WILL NOT REPLACE IT UNTIL IT COMPLETELY FAILS AGAIN. *TR
THE INFORMATION DISPLAYS 4WD SERVICE CONSTANTLY. IN ADDITION, THE 4WD SELECTION BUTTONS SHOW THE 4WD TO BE IN "N-NEUTRAL" OR "NO-LIGHTS DISPLAYED" WHEN THE TRUCK IS IN MOTION AND UNDER POWER, AND IN "4L-4 LOW" WITH THE TRUCK SPUTTERING ERRATICALLY, BUT DEFINITELY NOT IN 4L. ALL WITHOUT BEING SELECTED. SO FAR I HAVE DISCOVERED IF I SELECT "AUTO" THE 4WD SERVICE LIGHT DOES NOT DISPLAY. THIS ISSUE IS RECURRING AND HAS BEEN "REPAIRED" PREVIOUSLY BY A DEALERSHIP. *TR
BOTH RIGHT AND LEFT FRONT WHEEL BEARINGS/HUBS FAILED WITHIN 2000 MILES OF EACH OTHER, ONSET OF PROBLEM WAS SUDDEN FROM DETECTION OF GRINGING NOISE TO WOBBLE AND POSSIBLE LOSE OF TIRE (APPROXIMATELY 3 MILES) CURRENT MILEAGE 59,500. *TR
ALL 3 TRANSMISSION COOLER LINES LEAKING TRANSMISSION FLUID. I HAD THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM ON 12/11/2007. THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I BROUGHT MY TRUCK IN STATED THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM THAT THEY SEE FREQUENTLY AND IN FACT THEY STATED THEY HAD A 2007 TRUCK IN THEIR SHOP THAT DAY WITH THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. *TR
DRIVERS SIDE FRONT WHEEL BEARING FAILURE AT 37000 MILES. THE BEARINGS ARE SEALED AND CANNOT BE LUBED. THE BEARING IS PART OF A WHEEL HUB ASSEMBLY MAKING THE COST OF REPLACEMENT TEN TIMES WHAT IT WOULD NORMALLY BE. SINCE THE BEARINGS CANNOT BE LUBED, THEN FAILURE IS ASSURED AT SOME POINT. I HAVE A 1950 CHEVY WITH THE ORIGINAL WHEEL BEARINGS STILL IN USE. SOME OF YOU BRIGHT GUYS IN ENGINEERING NEED TO QUIT RE-INVENTING THE WHEEL (BEARING). *TR
DRIVER DOOR AJAR: DRIVER INFORMATION ALWAYS SHOWS THAT THE DOOR IS NOT CLOSE. BECAUSE IT IS AN ELECTRICAL OR EQUIPMENT MALFUNCTION IT IS NOT COVERED BY THE BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY ANYMORE. PROBLEM DEVELOPED A FEW WEEKS AGO. MY ODOMETER WAS 38500 MILES. THE DOME LIGHTS HAS TO BE TURNED OFF MANUALLY. NO ENTRY LIGHTS BECAUSE DUE TO THE MALFUNCTION OF THE DOOR LATCH THE INTERIOR LIGHTS HAVE TO BE OFF. IT CREATES A SAFETY ISSUE AT NIGHT TIME. WHY DO I HAVE YOU PAY TO HAVE IT FIXED ? *TR

DEALER REPAIRED AT COST TO ME OF JUST UNDER $400. JULY 2009, SIMILAR FRONT END NOISE(LOUDER) BROUGHT TO DEALER AND DETERMINED RIGHT FRONT BEARING/HUB ASSEMBLY WAS LOOSE AND AFLOAT AS WELL AND NEEDED IMMEDIATE REPAIR AT A COST OF $362 TO ME. SEEMS TO BE EARLY FAILURE AND WAS DEFINITELY A SAFETY ISSUE IF BEARING CAME APART. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 2500 HD. THE CONTACT NOTICED HYDRAULIC FLUID LEAKING FROM THE HYDRO BOOST LINES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE HYDRO BOOST LINES FAILED AND CAUSED THE LEAK. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT IF TOO MUCH FLUID WAS LOST, THE BRAKING SYSTEM WOULD COMPLETELY FAIL. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AT THE COST OF $1,037.54. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THERE WAS A RECALL REGARDING THE FAILURE, BUT NO COMPENSATION WOULD BE PROVIDED BECAUSE THE VIN WAS EXCLUDED. WHEEL SPEED SENSOR ON 2006 CHEVY SILVERADO DOESN'T WORK SO BRAKES AT SLOW SPEEDS GO RIGHT TO THE FLOOR. *TR
AT FIRST #5 ON HEATER QUIT WORKING. SOME TIMES IT WORKED OTHER TIMES IT WOULD NOT. I NOTICED A GLOW UNDER THE DASH AND SMELLED BURNT PLASTIC. I CHECKED THINGS OUT THE CONNECTOR HAD MELTED AND GLOWED WHEN THE HEATER WAS ON. IT THREW SPARKS WHEN I SWITCHED TO THE 5 POSITION. THE BLOWER STILL WORKED EVEN THOUGH IT WAS ABOUT TO CATCH FIRE, WHY DOESN'T IT BLOW A FUSE? THIS IS NOT SAFE. LUCKY I KEEP MY TRUCK CLEAN AND DON'T HAVE CARPET, IT WOULD HAVE PROBABLY CAUGHT FIRE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 3500. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE GOES INTO SAFETY MODE. THE VEHICLE DROPS TO 20 MPH WITHOUT WARNING AND CANNOT GO ANY FASTER. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER OVER SIXTEEN TIMES AND THEY STATED THAT THE FUEL FILTER WAS THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE, IN ADDITION TO THE TYPE OF FUEL THAT WAS BEING USED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE HAS BEEN USING THE SAME GAS AND GRADE SINCE HE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. HE ALSO PLACED DIFFERENT ADDITIVES INTO THE TANK TO STOP THE FAILURE, BUT IT STILL PERSISTS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 42,700.
MY CHEVY DIESEL PICK-UP TRUCK DIES FOR 2-3 SECONDS WHEN DRIVING AT MEDIUM SPEEDS (50MPH) AND I FLOOR THE THROTTLE. 2 DEALERS HAVE TOLD ME THIS IS NORMAL, IT IS A LAG DUE TO THE TURBO. EVERYONE ELSE I TALK TO THAT HAS THIS TRUCK TELLS ME THEY HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. HOWEVER, FORD AND DODGE DIESEL TRUCKS WITH TURBOS DO NOT HAVE THIS PROBLEM UNLESS THE TURBO IS DEFECTIVE. ALSO I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY SOME PEOPLE WHO ADD A CHIP AND ADJUSTED SUCH THINGS AS SHIFT POINTS ETC. THIS PROBLEM GOES ALWAYS IN 45 YEARS OF DRIVING MANY VEHICLES I HAVE NEVER ENCOUNTERED SUCH A SAFETY ISSUE. THIS NEEDS TO BE CORRECTED. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET 2500 HD. WHILE DRIVING DOWNHILL BETWEEN 30-50 MPH, THE TRANSMISSION BEGAN SHIFTING OUT OF GEAR UNEXPECTEDLY WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE ROAD SURFACE WAS ICY. THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND REMAINED ILLUMINATED UNTIL THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING AND THEY STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS RELATED TO A BLOCKED HEATER CORD. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 37,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 37,400.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 3500. WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN 55-60 MPH ON NORMAL ROAD CONDITIONS, THE VEHICLE VIBRATED UNEXPECTEDLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR INSPECTION AND THEY STATED THAT THE TORQUE CAUSED SEPARATION OF THE CENTRAL DIFFERENTIAL. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. IN ADDITION, THE MAINFRAME CRACKED IN HALF, BUT WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE WAS POSSIBLY CONTRIBUTED TO THE WEIGHT OF THE SNOWPLOWS OR DIESEL. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE UNAVAILABLE.
I AM WRITING CONCERNING RECEIVER HITCH FAILURE ON MY 2006 CHEVY 2500 DURAMAX DIESEL. I HAVE BEEN CONCERNED ABOUT THIS HITCHES INTEGRITY SINCE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE DUE TO THE DESIGN. MY WORRIES HAVE COME TO FRUITION WITH A NEAR TOTAL FAILURE OF THE OEM HITCH. I INSPECT THIS HITCH BEFORE EVERY TOW AND LUCKILY NOTICED IT BENDING. I HAVE A FRIEND WHO OWNS AN IDENTICAL TRUCK WHO HAS EXPERIENCED THE SAME FAILURE. SPEAKING FOR MYSELF, I HAVE NEVER EXCEEDED THE TOW RATING ON THIS HITCH AND HAVE NEVER BEEN INVOLVED IN A SITUATION THAT CAUSED UNDUE STRESS. AFTER RESEARCHING ON THE INTERNET, THERE HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS FAILURES OF THIS HITCH DESIGN. GM RELIES ON TWO BOLTS RUNNING THROUGH THE BUMPER FOR HORIZONTAL STRENGTH ON THIS HITCH. THE PROBLEM IS THAT THE BUMPER BRACKETS ARE NOT DESIGNED FOR HORIZONTAL STRENGTH AND SLIP APPROX A HALF INCH. THIS BEGINS THE FAILURE OF THE HITCH AS THE 2" ROUND TUBE TURNS IN THE RECEIVER BRACKETS DUE TO THEM BEING WELDED ON ONLY ON SIDE. *TR

TOOK TRUCK TO DEAL, DEAL FIX 1 OUT OF 3 LINES UNDER WARRANTY. 4000 MILES AFTER DEALER FIXED FIRST LINE, 2 OTHER STARTED LEAKING, DEAL WOULD NOT FIX OTHER 2 LINES STATING TRUCK WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. GMC SHOULD RECALL THE VEHICLE BASE ON POSSIBLE FIRE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHILE DRIVING 5 MPH AND DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE ABS ACTIVATES ON ITS OWN AND INCREASES THE STOPPING DISTANCE. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TAKEN TO THE DEALER A FEW TIMES, WHERE IT CURRENTLY REMAINS. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE ABS SENSOR HAS CORRODED AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WILL NOT REPLACE THE SENSOR FOR FREE, EVEN THOUGH THERE IS A RECALL FOR A DIFFERENT YEAR OF THE SAME MAKE AND MODEL VEHICLE. THE SENSOR HAS NOT YET BEEN REPLACED, BUT THE CONTACT BELIEVES THAT HIS VEHICLE SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 51,000.
I AM WRITING TO REPORT WHAT I BELIEVE TO BE A CRITICAL PROBLEM WITH THE 2006 CHEVROLET SILVERADO PICKUP. IT IS VERY LIKELY, FROM WHAT I HAVE READ FROM OTHER OWNERS' REPORTS, THAT THE PROBLEM IS NOT EXCLUSIVE TO THE YEAR 2006. IT MAY WELL PERTAIN TO SEVERAL OTHER YEARS FOR THIS MODEL PRODUCED AROUND THE SAME TIME. I PURCHASED A NEW CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500 PICKUP IN SEPTEMBER OF 2006. ONLY A SHORT TIME AFTER THE 36,000 MILE WARRANTY ENDED I HAD TO REPLACE THE WHEEL BEARING ASSEMBLY ON THE PASSENGER'S SIDE. THE LICENSED MECHANIC REPLACED IT WITH A UNIVERSAL BEARING FOR A COST TO ME OF $250. THIS WAS A MUCH BETTER PRICE THAN OTHER ESTIMATES I RECEIVED. THIS OCCURRED IN 2008. AFTER ONLY 15 MONTHS, THIS SAME BEARING HAD TO BE REPLACED AGAIN AT ANOTHER EXPENSE OF $250. THE MECHANIC DETERMINED IN BOTH INSTANCES THAT THE DAMAGE WAS CAUSED BY EXTENSIVE RUST ON THE HUBS OF THE ASSEMBLY DUE TO POOR DESIGN OF THE SYSTEM. THE AREA WHERE WE LIVE HAS AN ELEVATION OF 4200 FEET. WE LIVE ALONG THE SPINE OF THE APPALACHIAN MOUNTAINS OF NORTHWESTERN NORTH CAROLINA, WHERE THE WINTERS ARE QUITE SEVERE WITH ICY ROADS AND THEREFORE NEEDING TO BE TREATED WITH SALT DURING MUCH OF THE WINTER MONTHS. THIS RUST IS LEADING TO DAMAGE TO THE ABS SYSTEM OR BRAKE LINE AS THE SALT GETS INTO THE BEARING. THIS THEN IS CAUSING AN UNSAFE CONDITION IN WHICH A MUCH LONGER STOPPING DISTANCE TAKES PLACE WHEN THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED. IN ADDITION, IT CAUSES A JERKING OR GRABBING MOTION RATHER THAN THE USUALLY SMOOTH MOVEMENT OF NORMAL ANTI-LOCKING BRAKING SYSTEMS. TODAY, FOR THE THIRD TIME SINCE OWNING THE TRUCK, I HAVE AGAIN HAD TO REPLACE ONE OF THE WHEEL-BEARING ASSEMBLIES. THIS TIME IS WAS TO THE DRIVER'S SIDE ASSEMBLY WHICH MAKES A REPLACEMENT BEING NEEDED TWICE TO THE PASSENGER SIDE WHEEL AND ONCE TO THE DRIVER SIDE WHEEL. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR CONDITIONING AND HEATING FAILED, IN ADDITION TO OTHER ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS. SHE NOTICED THAT THE RESISTOR CONNECTOR AND WIRING HARNESS WERE MELTED. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS UNABLE TO ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 50,017.
