4/15/13 PASS. SIDE LEAF SPRING BROKE@10MPH. SPRING LANDED ON BRAKE LINE,& DRAGGING ON ROAD. I HEARD THE NOISE & STOPPED. 2ND. INCIDENT 4/28/14 DRIVER SIDE LEAF SPRING BROKE,@50MPH FELL AGAINST REAR TIRE. I COULD SMELL RUBBER BURNING & STOPPED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. (101892 ) MILEAGE FOR 2ND INCIDENT. THANK GOD MY SENSE OF SMELL & HEARING ARE GOOD ! BOTH TIMES MY GRANDSONS WERE WITH ME. ALSO TRUCK BED WAS EMPTY, BOTH TIMES. *TR
DASHBOARD HAS CRACKED IN SEVERAL PLACES. THIS STARTED WHEN THE TRUCK HAD 40,000 MILES ON IT, IT NOW HAS 60.000. IF I WOULD HAVE AN ACCIDENT WOULD THE DASH FLY TO PIECES AND INJURY OCCUPANTS?
ON OUR 2008 CHEVY SILVERADO 1500 LT 4X4 Z71, THE DASHBOARD HAS CRACKED SO BADLY WHERE THE PASSENGER AIRBAG IS, THAT IF THE AIRBAG WERE TO DEPLOY, PLASTIC SHRAPNEL IS GOING TO GO FLYING, WHICH COULD INJURE OR POSSIBLY KILL SOMEONE. ON THE FLIPSIDE; THE AIRBAG MAY NOT EVEN DEPLOY DUE TO THE DAMAGED DASHBOARD. IN EITHER CASE, THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE THAT GM REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE, DESPITE NOW THOUSANDS OF CUSTOMERS TAHOES, SUBURBANS, AND (ALL CHEVY & GMC TRUCKS & SUV'S 2007 AND NEWER) HAVING THE EXACT SAME ISSUE. AFTER MULTIPLE CALLS TO CHEVY AND GM, AND THEM BEING EXTREMELY RUDE AND IN DENIAL; THE BEST THEY CAN DO IS TO REPLACE THE DASH FOR A PRICE OF $200-500, WHICH WE CURRENTLY DON'T HAVE, AND SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR, AS GM SHOULD STAND BEHIND THE SAFETY OF THEIR VEHICLES AFTER CHARGING THE PRICES THEY DO. IN THE MEANTIME, WE DON'T FEEL SAFE EVEN DRIVING OUR TRUCK DOWN THE STREET. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE, AND NEEDS TO BE AN URGENT RECALL, BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED! THERE ARE MESSAGE BOARDS, FACEBOOK PAGES, AND TWITTER ACCOUNTS ALL SET UP JUST FOR FRUSTRATED CHEVY & GMC CUSTOMERS HAVING THE CRACKED DASHBOARD AND AIRBAG ISSUE, SO PLEASE INVESTIGATE THIS PROBLEM, NHTSA. AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION LINES 2008 CHEVY SILVERADO WITH ALLISON TRANSMISSION. FACTORY TRANSMISSION LINES LEAK AND MUST BE REPLACED. WHEN THE WEATHER TURNS COLD, THE LINES/CRIMPS HOLDING THE RUBBER HOSE TO THE PIPES FAIL AND AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID IS LOST, SOMETIMES IN CATASTROPHIC MANNER, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO LOOSE PROPULSION. REPORTS OF FAILURE ARE EXTREMELY COMMON, AND IT IS NOT UNUSUAL, THAT THE LINES MAY HAVE BEEN REPLACED 3 TIMES WITHIN THE 1ST 50,000 MILES. GM HAS ISSUED 'NEW, UPDATED' PARTS, BUT THEY ARE NO BETTER THAN THE ORIGINAL PARTS. THE NEW PART NUMBERS ARE 20759971, 20759972, 20759973. WILE REPAIR IS COVERED ON THE 36K BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY, THERE IS NO COVERAGE ON THE 100K WARRANTY. GM SHOULD REPLACE THE LINES FREE OF CHARGE FOR THE 1ST 100K MILES WITH A HOSE THAT WILL NOT FAIL. CONSUMERS CAN TAKE THE ORIGINAL GM LINE TO A HYDRAULIC SHOP, HAVE THE RUBBER PORTION OF THE LINES REPLACED WITH STANDARD HYDRAULIC HOSE SUITABLE FOR ATF FLUID AND THERE ARE NO FURTHER FAILURES. IF CONSUMERS CAN FIX THE LINES, PERHAPS GM CAN FIND A SOLUTION. *TR
POWER DOOR LOCKS ON DRIVERS SIDE HAVE STOPPED WORKING. THERE ARE 1,000'S OF COMPLAINTS FOR THIS. *TR

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO CALL THE LOCAL DEALER TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 57,495. I HAVE OWNED MY 2008 SUBURBAN FOR 6 YEARS. THE DASH BOARD IS COMPLETELY BROKEN IN DIFFERENT PARTS. I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW A BRAND NEW VEHICLE AT 5 YEARS CAN POSSIBLE HAVE THE DASH BOARD BREAK LIKE THAT. I HAVE ALWAYS OWNED CHEVROLET BUT WAS EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED AS TO HOW THE DASH BOARD IS BROKEN THE WAY IT IS. I WOULD LIKE TO SEEK HELP REPLACING IT SINCE I PLAN TO KEEP THIS VEHICLE FOR A LONG TIME. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS ADVISED THAT THE DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 28,000. *TR
BOTH DRIVERS DOOR AND PASSENGER DOOR LOCK ACTUATORS ARE NOT WORKING. THEY DON'T WORK WITH KEY FOB, THEY DON'T LOCK OR UNLOCK WHEN THE TRUCK IS PUT IN DRIVE OR WHEN THE KEY IS TURNED OFF AND THEY DON'T WORK WITH THE LOCK SWITCH ON THE DOOR. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE WHEN IT COMES TO CHILDREN IN THE VEHICLE. THIS SEEMS THE 2008 IS A BAD YEAR FOR THESE ACTUATORS AND GM SHOULD RECALL. THEY KNOW THEY WERE BAD. *TR
DASHBOARD IS CRACKING AND BREAKING APART SURROUNDING AIRBAG. COULD CAUSE PLASTIC SHRAPNEL BEING THROWN IF AIRBAG IS DEPLOYED.
MY DASH HAS CRACKED ON THE DRIVERS SIDE AND AT THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG. MY TRUCK WAS PARKED WITH ME AND MY WIFE SITTING IN IT. IT WAS CRUNK AND WHEN IT HAPPENED IT WAS VERY VIOLENT CAUSING US TO WORRY THAT IT COULD HAVE CAUSED THE AIRBAG TO DEPLOY AND CAUSE INJURY TO SOMEONE.

THE DRIVERS DOOR ELECTRIC LOCK STOPPED WORKING, THIS SEEMS TO BE AN ISSUE WITH THESE TRUCKS THE FACTORY SHOULD FIX THIS ISSUE. *TR
WHILE DRIVING WITH CRUISE CONTROL ON AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, THE TRACTION STABILITY LIGHT CAME ON ALONG WITH BRAKE LIGHT. THE DOOR LOCKS ACTIVATED AND ALL DASH BACKLIGHTING WENT OUT. AFTER SHUTTING OFF ENGINE, ALL ELECTRICAL POWER SHUT OFF TO INCLUDE THE CLOCK ON THE RADIO. I CHECKED BATTERY CONNECTIONS AND AFTER WIGGLING THE POSITIVE BATTERY CABLE, THE POWER CAME ON. THE CLOCK WAS SET TO 12:00, AND THE A/C WAS RESET TO 74. THIS WAS THE FIRST INCIDENT. AFTER SEVERAL INCIDENTS, MY TRUCK ACTUALLY STALLED IN AN INTERSECTION AND I HAD TO STOP IN THE ROAD TO ADJUST THE BATTERY CABLE. I HAVE HAD APPROXIMATELY 20 INCIDENTS OF SIMILAR NATURE, EACH TIME WITH INCREASING SYMPTOMS. AT ONE POINT, THE WARNING LIGHT FOR THE A/C OVERHEATING CAME ON. ALSO, THE BATTERY AND CABLES BECOME EXTREMELY HOT, AND STAY HOT AFTER ENGINE SHUTDOWN FOR SEVERAL HOURS UNTIL THE CABLE IS READJUSTED. I HAVE READ SEVERAL FORUMS LOOKING FOR A SOLUTION, AND HAVE CONCLUDED THE MOST LIKELY SOURCE IS A FAILING POSITIVE BATTERY CABLE. IN THE FORUMS, IT SEEMS THAT THE CABLE WAS REDESIGNED IN 2007, AND HAS AFFECTED ALL VEHICLES THROUGH 2013. THIS POSES A THREAT TO OVERHEATING BATTERY CONNECTIONS WHICH COULD LEAD TO A FIRE, AND THREAT OF A VEHICLE COLLISION. *TR
3 OF 4 DOOR LOCK ACTUATORS HAVE FAILED. CALLED CHEVY AND HAD ME BRING TO DEALERSHIP TO HAVE TESTED AND DEALERSHIP DID CONFIRM THAT WAS ACTUATORS. CHEVY NOT WILLING TO COVER COST OF REPLACING FAULTY PARTS. I AM UNABLE TO USE DOOR LOCKS ON 3 OF MY 4 DOORS. *TR
OFF AND ON VEHICLE LOCKS INTO ANTI THEFT MODE......SAT OVERNITE AT WALMART..SAT OVERNITE AT GROC STORE...WENT TO DEALER 300 LATER NOT FIXED THEY MAY TRY THIS OR THAT $$$$$$$$$$$ EACH VISIT IS EXPENSIVE.....CALLED CUSTOMER SUPPORT AT GM THEY TOLD ME THEY NEW NOTHING ABOUT THIS HAPPENING.....GOOGLED INTERNET A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE DEALING WITH THIS....CALLED CUSTOMER SERVICE BACK THEY TOLD ME NOT TO GOOGLE INTERNET BECAUSE MANY VEHICLES CAN BREAK DOWN THEY DO NOT LAST FOREVER.....IN THE MEANTIME I SHOULD RETURN TO SERVICE BECAUSE THEY ONLY HIRE TOP NOTCH TECHS WHO CAN FIX THE PROBLEM.....THEY ARE NOT FIXING IT THEY ARE GUESSING AND EACH TIME THEY GUESS THE PROBLEM EXITS BUT MY WALLET SHRINKS.........THIS PASSLOCK EVEN HAS IT'S OWN FACEBOOK PAGE.......THIS IS BAD AND DANGEROUS AND EXPENSIVE....THE ONLY SOLUTION IS TO BUY A KIT AND THEN TRY TO FIND SOMEONE TO INSTALL TO OVERRIDE THE SYSTEM.........THIS IS RIDICULOUS TIRED OF LOOKING AT SERVICE SEATBELT..LITTLE CAR WITH LOCK ON IT AND TURNING KEY TO NOTHING HAPPENING ALL BECAUSE PASSLOCK FAILURE. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE DOOR ACTUATORS WERE DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. RAILROAD HYRAIL VEHICLE EQUIPPED, AFTER MARKET, WITH HYRAIL WHEEL ASSEMBLIES WHICH ALLOW THE VEHICLE TO OPERATE ON RAILROAD TRACKS. ONCE HYRAIL (FLANGED) WHEELS ARE RETRACTED, THE VEHICLE IS OPERATED OVER THE HIGHWAYS AND PUBLIC ROADS LIKE ANY OTHER VEHICLE. ON 10/5/12 NEAR NEWCASTLE, WY A RAILROAD EMPLOYEE WAS OPERATING VEHICLE ON THE RAILROAD TRACKS WHEN IT STRUCK STANDING EQUIPMENT AT APPROX 15 MPH. AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AND RAIL EMPLOYEE WAS INJURED. CONCERN IS THAT THE INSTALLATION OF HYRAIL WHEEL ASSEMBLIES MIGHT BE IMPACTING THE AIRBAG SENSOR. THE HYRAIL WHEEL ASSEMBLIES EXTEND APPROX. ONE FOOT OF STEEL FRAMEWORK AHEAD OF THE FRONT AND REAR BUMPERS. THE PLACEMENT OF THESE ASSEMBLIES MIGHT INADVERTENTLY BE AFFECTING AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT IN CRASHES ON THE RAILROAD TRACK AND ON PUBLIC ROADS. *TR

DASH CRACKED AT PASSENGER AIR BAG. *TR
WHILE TOWING A 5TH WHEEL TRAILER IN 98 DEGREE HEAT, THE VEHICLE WENT INTO REDUCED POWER MODE. THE VEHICLE TURBO WAS DIAGNOSED AS THE PROBLEMS WITH THE VARIABLE VANES LOCKING IN POSITION. I BELIEVE THIS IS A KNOWN CONDITION WITH THE DURAMAX LMM ENGINE. ON THE OPEN HIGHWAY PULLING A TRAILER THIS CREATES A HAZARD FOR THE DRIVER AND OTHER TRAFFIC AS THE SUDDEN LOSS OF SPEED IS UNEXPECTED. WARRANTY WAS DENIED ALTHOUGH THERE IS A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN REGARDING SIMILAR SYMPTOMS. *TR
CRACKED CHEVROLET DASH FLAPS WHEN WINDOWS ROLLED DOWN CREATING VISIBLE DISTRACTION VERY SIMILAR TO ATTACHED PICTURE CHEVROLET KNOWS THIS IS AN ONGOING ISSUE FOR THEIR 2007-2014 MODELS AND APPARENTLY WON'T DO ANYTHING UNLESS COMPELLED TO BY A REGULATORY BODY. IF I GET INTO AN ACCIDENT I WILL MAKE SURE TO ADVISE OF WHAT CAUSED THE DISTRACTION. THIS IS NOT ONLY AN EYESORE BUT IT IS ALSO INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS. WHO MAKES NEW VEHICLES WITH ALL THE EMISSIONS STANDARDS AND THEN SKIMPS ON THE DASH? THIS IS SUCH A PROBLEM THERE IS A FACEBOOK GROUP WITH 6,825 MEMBERS AND YOU CAN DO FIND IT BY SEARCHING. VEHICLE WAS TOTALED IN AN ACCIDENT AND AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY *CN THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOUR TIMES, FOR THE IGNITION ISSUE. THE PROBLEM CONTINUED, UNTIL HE WAS INVOLVED IN A NO-FAULT ACCIDENT ON SEPTEMBER 11, 2014. THE CONSUMER SUFFERED INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED. *JB

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION AND THEY STATED THAT THE ACTUATOR WAS BAD AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000.
MY DASH HAS CRACKS IN MANY PLACES THAT STARTED WITHIN 6 MONTHS AFTER THE WARRANTY EXPIRED. IT CONTINUES TO GET WORSE. HOWEVER WHAT CONCERNS ME THE MOST IS THEY'RE THREE LOCATED AROUND THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG. HOW IS THIS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE? IF MY AIRBAG INFLATES THE DASH COULD PUNCTURE THE AIRBAG OR PIECES CAN BE THROWN TOWARD THE PASSENGER OR EVEN THE DRIVER. IF YOU SEARCH GM CRACKED DASH YOU WILL FIND ENDLESS ARTICLES AND VIDEOS OF PEOPLE WITH THE SAME ISSUE. THIS VEHICLE IS DRIVEN BY MY TEENAGE SON WHO I WOULD DEFINITELY WANT THE AIRBAGS TO WORK PROPERLY AND NOT GET PUNCTURED WHEN INFLATED DURING A CRASH. ALSO AS STATED BY MANY OTHERS WE DON'T HAVE A $1000 + TO SPEND ON A DASH THAT SHOULD HAVE NEVER CRACKED IN THE FIRST PLACE.

CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO RECALL NOTICE 16V-381 REPLACEMENT PARTS AND STATES DEALERSHIP FOUND BAD CONNECTION IN AIRBAG WIRING LOCATED BEHIND SEAT. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THE AIR BAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON JUNE 13, 2012. ALSO, THE CRUISE CONTROL AND PASSENGER DOOR LOCK DID NOT WORK. *JB

THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION ON NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 21V050000 (AIR BAGS) HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE RECALL REPAIR WAS NOT YET AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER HAD EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. CIOCCA CHEVROLET OF PRINCETON (200 RENAISSANCE BLVD, LAWRENCE TOWNSHIP, NJ 08648) WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED BY THE DEALER THAT THERE WAS NO FIX AVAILABLE FOR THE REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND CONFIRMED THAT THERE WAS NO FIX FOR THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE STOPPED, THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIR BAG DEPLOYED INSIDE OF THE STEERING WHEEL AND THE SEAT BELT PRE-TENSIONER ACTIVATED AS IF THE VEHICLE WERE INVOLVED IN A CRASH. THE ACTIVATING OF THE PRE-TENSIONER INJURED THE CONTACT'S SHOULDER DURING THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE AIR BAG SENSOR MODULE AND PRE-TENSIONER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. NO REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 41,000.
WHILE TRAVELING ON THE EXPRESSWAY A CHECK TRACTION SYSTEM WARNING APPEARED ALONG WITH REDUCED ENGINE POWER. AFTER APPROX. 10 MILES THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN AND I WAS FORCED TO PULL OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I SHUT THE ENGINE OFF AND ATTEMPTED TO RESTART AND THE STARTER WOULD NOT ENGAGE. AFTER WAITING APPROX. 3 MINUTES I WAS ABLE TO START THE CAR AND WARNING SYSTEM WAS GONE HOWEVER THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT REMAINED. THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN AGAIN AFTER I TRAVELED ANOTHER 20 MILES AT WHICH POINT I REPEATED THE STEPS OUTLINED ABOVE AND WAS ABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE HOME. *TR

REPAIR PERFORMED WAS TO REPLACE THE HARNESS ON BOTH LEFT AND RIGHT HEAD LIGHTS TO CORRECT A MELTING PLUG CONNECTER. MOST TIME ITS IS ONE HEADLIGHT AFFECTED AT A TIME, BUT THE LOSS OF BOTH HEAD LIGHTS IS SEEN. *TR

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND ADVISED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE MANUFACTURER HEADLIGHT RECALL. THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER WAS UNKNOWN. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 62,000.
