TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. UPON ENTERING THE VEHICLE THE CONTACT SMELLED A STRONG ODOR OF GASOLINE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON 28 OCCASIONS IN WHICH THEY DID NOT DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE BUT RECOMMENDED THAT HE REPLACE THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 6,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 21,847.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. WHILE IDLING AT A STOP SIGN HE HEARD A THUMPING SOUND FROM UNDER THE VEHICLE. SIMULTANEOUSLY THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO JERK FORWARD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP AND HE WAS INFORMED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE LUBRICATED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 20000.
2008 CHEVROLET SILVERADO - AIR CONDITIONER BLOWS HOT AIR OUT OF DRIVERS SIDE AND COLD AIR OUT OF PASSENGER SIDE. EXTREMELY HOT AIR BLOWS OUT OF THE DRIVERS SIDE WHENEVER THE AIR IS SET ON 60 (HOTTER THAN THE MAX 90). IT OCCURRED ONCE BEFORE BUT WAS FIXED BY A MECHANIC COSTING A COUPLE HUNDRED DOLLARS, BUT NOW IT HAS BEGUN AGAIN. I AM NOT SURE IF A PART WAS FIXED OR REPLACED BUT THE ISSUE CEASED AND NOW HAS STARTED AGAIN. *TR
ALL FOUR DOOR ACTUATORS HAVE FAILED. HAVE TO MANUALLY LOCK/UNLOCK DOORS.. I SEE THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL. *TR
SEVERE DASH CRACKING, HAS ABOUT 5-6 MAJOR CRACKS, INCLUDING AROUND THE AIRBAG AREA. CONCERN FOR HOW THE AIRBAG MIGHT CAUSE PIECERS OF PLASTIC TO INJURE OCCUPANTS OF THE VEHICLE IF THE AIRBAG WAS TO DEPLOY. VERY CONCERNED WHEN I HAVE THREE KIDS DRIVING IN THE TRUCK. NOT TO MENTION THERE STILL HASNT BEEN A RECALL ON THE AIRBAG SITUATION. THIS IS NOT GOOD!
DASHBOARD AROUND THE PASSENGER AIR BAG IS CRACKING WITH SHARP EDGES TO THE CRACKS THAT COULD CUT THE AIRBAG IF DEPLOYED OR SHATTER CAUSING PERSONAL INJURY AND/OR DEATH.
PRELUDE TO THIS EVENT, INVOLVING MY 2008 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500 (APPROX 16,200 MILES), WAS THE WARRANTY REPLACEMENT FOR THE FAILURE OF ALL 4 POWER DOOR LOCK ACTUATORS. THE ACTUATORS FAILED ONE AT A TIME AND EACH TIME AN ACTUATOR WOULD FAIL, THE VEHICLE WOULD SHOCK THE DRIVER WHEN TOUCHING THE METAL DOOR WHILE EXITING THE VEHICLE. THE LAST ACTUATOR WAS REPLACED BY THE DEALERSHIP ON SEPTEMBER 18TH, 2009. ON SEPTEMBER 19TH, 2009, AFTER ENGAGING MY VEHICLE INTO REVERSE GEAR, THE DASHBOARD ELECTRICAL WENT DEAD. GAUGES WENT DARK AND RADIO BEGAN TO BLINK. WITHIN 5-10 SECONDS, SMELL OF BURNING ELECTRICAL CAME INTO THE CAB OF THE VEHICLE. I POPPED THE HOOD AND MY PASSENGER IMMEDIATELY IDENTIFIED A FIRE NEAR THE TRANSMISSION ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. THE FIRE WAS EXTINGUISHED BEFORE ENGULFING THE VEHICLE. AFTER INSPECTION, WE FOUND A SHORTED OUT WIRE NEAR THE STARTER AND A BROKEN TRANSMISSION COOLING LINE. THE CAUSE OF BOTH ANOMALIES IS UNKNOWN AT THIS POINT. VEHICLE IS AT THE DEALERSHIP THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED FROM. THIS OCCURRED UNDER "NORMAL" CONDITIONS ON AN IMPROVED DRIVING SURFACE. *TR
THE VEHICLE HAS A TRAILER BRAKE ISSUE, THE TRAILER BRAKE INTERMITTENTLY GIVES YOU A MESSAGE SAYING SERVICE TRAILER BRAKE AND YOU LOOSE BRAKE SYSTEM CONNECTION AND THE TRAILER BRAKES DO NOT WORK, GM HAS BEEN AWARE OF THE ISSUE SINCE 2007 BUT CANNOT AND WILL NOT FIX THE ISSUE, THEY USE TEMPORARY FIXES THAT LAST 5-12 MONTHS AND THEN WHEN YOU ARE OUT OF WARRANTY THEY WILL KEEP CHARGING YOU AND DO NOT FIX THE ISSUE, THE TRAILER BRAKE MESSAGE COMES UP EVEN WHEN THERE IS NO TRAILER CONNECTED, GM CLAIMS IT A SHORT, MODULE, YOUR EQUIPMENT, WATER, THE PLUG, THERE ENGINEERS DON'T EVEN KNOW HOW TO FIX IT, I HAVE TRIED ALL RESOURCES AND STILL HAVE THE SAME ISSUE. I PERSONALLY HAVE SPENT OVER 5000.00 AND STILL HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM SOME ONE NEEDS TO ADDRESS GM ABOUT THIS BEFORE SOMEONE GET SERIOUSLY INJURED OR THERE IS A MAJOR CRASH BECAUSE YOU LOOSE THE BRAKE AND CANNOT STOP THE VEHICLE BECAUSE THE TRAILER BRAKES DON'T WORK DUE TO THE MANUFACTURES DEFECT IN THERE WIRE HARNESS OR TRAILER BRAKE SYSTEM. *TR
I HAVE HAD TWO PROBLEMS WITH THIS TRUCK - ONE THE DRIVER DOOR LOCKS CLICKER STOPPED WORKING AND I HAD TO HAVE THE CHEVY DEALER REPLACE THE AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCKING PART - NOW THE BRAKES ARE A PROBLEM - I HAVE 17,000 MILES ON THIS TRUCK AND THE FRONT ROTORS HAD GROVES IN THEM AND HAD TO BE TURNED - THE PADS HAVE BEEN REPLACED WITH HEAVY DUTY PADS - MY REGULAR TIRE AND BRAKE SHOP IN TOWN SAID THEY WOULD NEVER HAVE PUT THE HEAVY DUTY PADS ON THIS TRUCK. FOUR DAYS AFTER THE FIRST FIX IT STARTED SQUEAKING AND I HAD TO TAKE IT BAKE TO THE DEALER AND HE SAID THEY HAD TO KEEP IT AND CHECK THE BRAKES WERE GETTING HOT, THEY GOT ME A RENTAL CAR FOR FOUR DAYS WHILE THEY TOOK THE BRAKES APART AND PUT THEM BACK TOGETHER AND SAID THEY MUST HAVE PUT THEM TOGETHER THE FIRST TIME WRONG! *TR
LTR RE PROBLEMS HE HAVING WITH HIS 2008 CHEVORLET SILVERADO 3500 IN WHICH HE SAYS PRESENTS A SIGNIFICANT LIFE SAFETY ISSUE; HE WOULD LIKE AN INVESTIGATION TO BE CONDUCTED. *NJ WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY BEGAN TO INCREASE IN SPEED WITH NO ACTION FROM THE CONSUMER. THE CONSUMER ATTEMPTED TO APPLY THE BRAKE, BUT SOON THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND SMOKE STARTED EMANATING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. THE CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO STEER THE VEHICLE INTO THE EMERGENCY LANE AND TURNED OFF THE IGNITION. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER, HOWEVER AFTER A DIAGNOSES, NO CODES WERE FOUND TO DETERMINE THE RAPID ACCELERATION. *JB
I PURCHASED THIS TRUCK BRAND NEW IN AUGUST 2008. I NOTICED THE FIRST DASHBOARD CRACK, ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE PASSENGER AIR BAG, ABOUT TWO YEARS LATER. I TOOK MY TRUCK TO THE DEALERSHIP I BOUGHT IT FROM, OVER CONCERNS ABOUT POSSIBLE SPLINTERING OF THE DASHBOARD IN THE EVENT AN AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT. THE DEALER ONLY OFFERED TO REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE COMPONENT. THE QUOTE WAS JUST OVER $1200. HE ALSO ASSURED ME THAT MY STILL ACTIVE, "BUMBER TO BUMBER" WARRANTY WOULD NOT COVER THIS PARTICULAR DEFECT. OF COURSE NOW I'VE GOT A CRACK FROM THE DEFROST VENT TO THE WINDSHIELD, AND CRACKING OVER THE GAUGE CLUSTER SO SEVERE THAT IT IS BASICALLY A HOLE. IT IS MORE THAN OBVIOUS THAT THIS COMPONENT IS DEFECTIVE IN MATERIAL, DESIGN, APPLICATION OR MOUNTING METHOD. IT IS ALSO OBVIOUS THAT THIS COMPONENT IS A SAFETY HAZARD DUE TO THE LIKELIHOOD OF SPLINTERING SHOULD AN IMPACT AND/OR AN AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT OCCUR. THE HOLE IN MY DASHBOARD ALSO REPRESENTS MULTIPLE VIOLATIONS OF AUTOMOTIVE SAFETY AND CONSTRUCTION STANDARDS.SET FORTH BY THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT. ALL THAT BEING SAID, I HAVE TAKEN IMMACULATE CARE OF THIS VEHICLE AND THERE IS NO PLAUSIBLE EXPLANATION OTHER THAN A DEFECT IN THE COMPONENT ITSELF.
I BOUGHT THIS TRUCK NEW 9/2008. FRAME WAS STARTING TO FLAKE OFF ITS FACTORY UNDERCOATING AND SOME RUST WAS SHOWING. PRESENT TIME JULY 2015 FRAME IS STILL FLAKING OFF ITS FACTORY UNDERCOATING AND RUSTING EVERYWHERE.
LEFT FRT BRAKE HANGING UP AT TIMES. LEFT FRT. ROTOR HAS GROVES STARTING TO SHOW. ALSO THE PADS LOOK OK. LOOKS LIKE IT MIGHT BE GETTING HOT. THE RIGHT FRT. BRAKE LOOKS FINE. MAKES A NOISE AT TIMES WHEN APPLYING BRAKES. *TR
I HAVE TAKEN THE TRUCK TO THE DEALERSHIP SHOP TWICE REGARDING THE SQUEALING BRAKES. THE FIRST TIME THEY SAID THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE FRONT BRAKES AND THEY REPLACED THEM AT NO COST. I HAD TO PAY FOR THE REAR BRAKE REPLACEMENT. I TOOK THE TRUCK BACK TWO WEEKS LATER BECAUSE OF THE SAME SQUEALING. THEY SAID THE ONLY THING THEY COULD DO WAS TO SPRAY ON SOME KIND OF METAL COATING. THEY SAID I WOULD HAVE TO COME BACK BECAUSE IT WOULD TAKE SEVERAL HOURS TO DRY. IF THEY JUST REPLACED DEFECTIVE BRAKES, WHY WOULD I HAVE TO ACCEPT THEM SPRAYING SOMETHING ON THEM INSTEAD OF FIXING THE PROBLEM. MY HUSBAND HAS THIS SAME TRUCK AND HIS BRAKES SQUEAL TOO. *TR
IF I AM GOING DOWN THE ROAD AND PRESS MY BRAKE PEDAL AND THEN LET UP A LITTLE BIT SO THAT I DON'T HAVE AS MUCH PRESSURE ON THE BRAKES THE BRAKE LIGHTS GO OUT. THEY GO OUT BEFORE I AM OFF OF MY BRAKES. SO IF I AM COASTING DOWN A HILL AND APPLY MY BRAKES AND THEN REALIZE THAT I HAVE APPLIED TOO MUCH PRESSURE AND I HAVE TO LET OUT A LITTLE BIT TO CALIBRATE THE PRESSURE CORRECTLY MY BRAKE LIGHTS DO NOT STAY ON, THEY GO OUT BEFORE THE PEDAL IS COMPLETELY RELEASED. I WANT MY BRAKE LIGHTS TO STAY ON UNTIL I LET OFF MY BRAKES COMPLETELY, IT SHOULDN'T MATTER HOW MUCH PRESSURE I HAVE ON MY BRAKES, IF MY BRAKES ARE ON SO SHOULD MY LIGHTS. THE REASON I AM CONCERNED WITH THIS IS BECAUSE I HAD SOMEONE NEARLY RUN INTO THE BACK OF MY CAR. ALSO IF I AM SITTING AT A REDLIGHT AND EASE UP ON THE BRAKE PEDAL BUT STILL AT A FULL STOP, THE BRAKE LIGHTS GO OUT WHILE I AM SITTING THERE, I HAVE TO PRESS MY BRAKE PEDAL ALL THE WAY DOWN TO GET THE BRAKE LIGHTS TO COME ON AND STAY ONE, IF I HAVE ANY PRESSURE ON THE PEDAL THE LIGHTS SHOULD STAY ON. THIS HAS SCARED ME PLENTY OF TIMES AT NIGHT BECAUSE I WILL BE STOPPED AND THE PERSON BEHIND ME HAS TO SLAM ON THEIR BRAKES TO KEEP FROM HITTING ME. I BELIEVE THIS IS A DESIGN FLAW IN THE BRAKE SYSTEM WITH MY 08 SILVERADO. I HAVE BEEN TO THE DEALER TO GET THIS FIXED AS A WARRANTY ISSUE BUT THEY SAY "FAILURE TO REPLICATE PROBLEM." SO THAT IS WHY I AM FILLING OUT THE COMPLAINT. *TR
DOOR LOCK BROKE AND DOOR WOULD NOT OPEN. THIS IS THE FOURTH TIME AND HAS OCCURRED ON ALL FOUR DOORS AT DIFFERENT INTERVALS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO START THE VEHICLE, THE IGNITION SWITCH WAS DIFFICULT TO TURN. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT SEVERAL ATTEMPTS HAD TO BE MADE BEFORE THE VEHICLE STARTED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR WAS ILLUMINATED. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHEN THE CONTACT WENT TO CHANGE HIS LICENSE PLATE, HE NOTICED THAT THE SPARE TIRE WAS A DIFFERENT SIZE THAN THE REST OF THE TIRES. HE CONSULTED THE DEALER AND WAS INFORMED THAT THEY RECEIVED OTHER COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE ISSUE, BUT COULD NOT DO ANYTHING TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE SPARE WAS A TEMPORARY ONE AND OFFERED NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE SPARE WAS A GOODYEAR WRANGLER HP TIRE, SIZE 265/70/17. THE OTHER TIRES WERE BRIDGESTONE, SIZE 265/65/18. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 2,465 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 2,400. UPDATED 05/06/09. *LJ UPDATED 05/07/09.*JB
WE PURCHASED TWO 2008 CHEVROLET PICK UP TRUCKS ON THE SAME DATE AND ARE EXPERIENCING A CONSISTENT PROBLEM WITH BRAKE ROTOR WARPING. I HAD TO HAVE THE ROTORS TURNED AFTER 3,000 MILES AND AGAIN AT 11,300 MILES. IT HAS HAD TO HAVE THE ROTORS TURNED AT 8,000 MILES. ON APRIL 14, 2009 VEHICLE #2 WAS BEING DRIVEN DOWN A STEEP HILL AND THE BRAKES BARELY STOPPED THE TRUCK DUE TO THE ROTORS BEING WARPED AND OVERHEATING. BOTH VEHICLES WERE TAKEN INTO THE DEALERSHIP TODAY AND A COMPLAINT #71-716924191 WAS FILED WITH CHEVROLET CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE NATIONAL LINE. VEHICLE #1 WAS BEING DRIVEN DOWN A HILL LAST THURSDAY AND THAT VEHICLE BARELY STOPPED DUE TO BAD ROTORS. WE EXPRESSED TO CHEVROLET THAT THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD AND THEY SAID THEY WILL CONTINUE TO FOLLOW THE GUIDELINES OF THEIR WARRANTY AND TURNED DOWN THE ROTORS AS NECESSARY AS LONG AS THERE IS STILL SERVICEABLE LIFE LEFT IN THEM. THEY WILL NOT INSTALL ANY BETTER ROTORS NOR WOULD THEY OFFER ANY OTHER SOLUTION. THE DEALER SERVICE ADVISER TOLD US THAT THEY HAVE PROBLEMS WITH ALL PICK UP TRUCK ROTORS ON VEHICLES THAT FREQUENTLY TRAVEL ON HILLS AND HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH CARS AS WELL. THESE TWO PICK-UP TRUCKS DO NOT NORMALLY TOW ANYTHING, ONLY HAVE ONE PERSON IN THE VEHICLE, AND USUALLY HAVE A FOUR WHEEL ATV ON THE BACK WHICH WEIGHS ABOUT 360 POUNDS WHICH IS LESS THAN TWO OF THREE PEOPLE OCCUPYING A CAB. THE VEHICLES ARE DRIVEN ON SOME FARM LANES AND GET SOME MUD ON THE WHEELS INFREQUENTLY BUT THEY SAID THIS CONTRIBUTES TO THE ROTORS OVERHEATING. PICKUP TRUCKS ARE SUPPOSED TO BE DESIGNED FOR HEAVIER USE "CHEVY TOUGH IS THEIR ADVERTISING SLOGAN" AND THESE PICKUPS, DO NOT SEE MUCH HEAVY USE. WE FEEL THIS IS A CONSIDERABLE SAFETY HAZARD OF BRAKE FAILURE AND LOOKS LIKE IT WILL BE AN ONGOING PROBLEM WELL AFTER THE WARRANTY PERIOD EXPIRES. WE LIVE IN A HILLY AREA WITH MANY STEEP ROADS AND WERE NEVER ADVISED THAT THE TRUCKS COULD NOT WITHSTAND THESE CONDITIONS. *TR
DRIVERS SIDE DOOR LOCK NOT WORKING PROPERLY. THIS VEHICLE EQUIPPED WITH AUTO LOCKS WHICH CAN BE REMOTE OPERATED. THE DEVICE THAT MAKES THE LOCK WORK STOPPED WORKING. AS A RESULT THE DOOR DOES NOT AUTOMATICALLY LOCK OR UN LOCK. ALSO WITH THE DEVICE BEING BROKE THE REMOTE LOCKS DO NOT WORK EITHER. THIS LOCK FAILURE GOING UN NOTICED CAN LEAVE THE PEOPLE IN THE VEHICLE A FALSE SENSE OF SECURITY. WHAT IF IT FAILED AT A PASSENGER DOOR WHERE A CHILD WAS SITTING? WHAT IF YOU LOCKED THE TRUCK, WALKED INTO THE STORE, WALKED BACK OUT TO YOUR TRUCK AND SOMEONE GOT IN WHILE YOU WERE INSIDE? WHAT IF YOU WERE AT A RED LIGHT AND SOMEONE CAME TO ATTACK YOU AND THE LOCK FAILED. THIS ISSUE COULD HAVE SEVERE CONSEQUENCES. IT GIVES YOU A FALSE SENSE OF SECURITY. I TOOK THE TRUCK TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY INFORMED ME THIS ISSUE WAS COMMON AND THEY HAVE BEEN SEEING A LOT OF VEHICLES BROUGHT IN FOR WARRANTY WORK TO REPLACE THE DEFECTED PART. LUCKILY MY TRUCK WAS INSIDE THE 36K WARRANTY PERIOD SO THE REPAIR WILL BE MADE AT NO COST. HOWEVER, I HAVE SINCE EXCEEDED THE WARRANTY PERIOD AND FROM THIS POINT FORWARD IT WILL COME OUT OF MY POCKET. *TR
I HAVE A 2008 CHEVROLET SILVERADO WITH VERY LOW MILEAGE. THE ISSUE IS A STRUCTURALLY DEFECTIVE WINDSHIELD. THE WINDSHIELD STARTED CRACKING UNDER THE DRIVER SIDE MOLDING AND HAS PROGRESSED TOWARDS THE CENTER OF THE WINDSHIELD. I KNOW FOR A FACT THAT NOTHING HIT THE WINDSHIELD AND THE FACT THAT THE CRACK STARTED WHEN THERE WAS NO ONE AROUND ELSE ON THE ROAD. I WENT TO LOCAL DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT REVIEWED. THE SERVICE MANAGER SIMPLY GLANCED AT THE WINDSHIELD AND CONCLUDED THAT SOMETHING HIT THE WINDSHIELD WHEN IT FACT THERE IS NOTHING TO SUBSTANTIATE THAT STATEMENT.. HE WENT ON TO SELL ME THE LINE THAT IF THERE WAS A DEFECT IN THE MATERIALS THAT THE CRACK WOULD HAVE SHOWED UP BEFORE 7,500 MILES. AS A STRUCTURAL ENGINEER I KNOW THAT THIS IS FACTUALLY INCORRECT STATEMENT AND NOTHING MORE THEN AN EXCUSE TO DO NOTHING. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHILE DRIVING AT 68 MPH, AN EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF GASOLINE ENTERED THE FUEL INJECTION SYSTEM. THE CONTACT WAS UNAWARE OF WHAT CAUSED THE FAILURE TO OCCUR. THE SPARK PLUGS WERE REPLACED FIVE TIMES DUE TO THE FAILURE; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE OCCURRED APPROXIMATELY FIFTEEN TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER NINE TIMES AND THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 18,132. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 8,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKES GRADUALLY TEND TO STOP WORKING. THE DEALER CHECKED THE BRAKES AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS FINE. ANOTHER DEALER TOOK THE BRAKES APART AND FOUND THAT THEY WERE VERY WORN AND WOULD COST $800 TO REPAIR. THE CONTACT DECLINED THE REPAIR AND DROVE THE VEHICLE TO HIS RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER THREE TIMES FOR THE BRAKES, BUT ONLY ONE MECHANIC FOUND HEAT CRACKS AND HEAT SPOTS. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 29,090 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15,000.

RIGHT FRONT TIRE BLEW OUT, WHEN WE WENT TO HAVE THEM REPLACED WE NOTICED A BUMP IN ALL FOUR TIRES, UPON CALLING GENERAL WE WERE TOLD TO TAKE THE TRUCK TO SEARS (AUTHORIZED DEALER) TO LOOK OVER THE TIRES, SEARS CONFIRMED THAT THERE WAS A BELT SEPARATION IN ALL FOUR TIRES. WE WERE TOLD BY GENERAL TIRES THEY WOULD GIVE US A 60% REPLACEMENT ON ONE TIRE. WE THEN CALLED GENERAL MOTORS TO REPORT THE PROBLEM THEY TOLD US WE NEEDED TO TAKE THE TRUCK TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TRUCK WAS PURCHASED. AFTER LEAVING THE TRUCK ALL DAY THE SERVICE MANAGER REPORTED THAT THE REPLACED TIRE WAS NOT AN ORIGINAL TIRE (IT WAS THE ONE WE HAD FIXED DUE TO BLOW OUT) AND THAT IT SHOULD NOT BE WARRANTED. AT THIS TIME NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE TO FIX ANY OF THE TIRES. WE WERE TOLD BY A REPRESENTATIVE AT GENERAL MOTORS THAT THERE WERE OTHER REPORTS OF PROBLEMS WITH THESE TIRES. WITHIN TWO MONTHS OF PURCHASING MY BRAND NEW SILVERADO, I NOTICED THIS ISSUE AND IT HAS PERSISTED. MY VEHICLE NOW HAS 73,000 MILES ON IT, AND IT HAPPENS EVEN MORE FREQUENTLY. I'VE DRIVEN UP TO 45 MINUTES WITH BOTH LIGHTS BEING ON. THEY WILL USUALLY STAY ON UNTIL I'VE OPERATED THE VEHICLE FOR AT LEAST 30 MINUTES, AND THEN TURN THE VEHICLE OFF. AFTER I'VE DONE SO, AND THEN RESTARTED THE VEHICLE, THE LIGHTS WILL USUALLY GO OFF. THESE ARE BOTH VERY IMPOTANT SAFETY FEATURES. I'VE GONE ON NUMEROUS GM THREADS AND FOUND THAT HUNDREDS OF SILVERADO OWNERS FROM 2007 UP UNTIL TODAY CONTINUE TO HAVE THE ISSUE AND NOBODY EVER DOES ANYTHING ABOUT IT. I WAS TO CLOSE TO THE 36,000 MILE MARK FOR WARRANTY COVERAGE TO MAKE IT TO SHREVEPORT, LA. SO I HAVE BEEN DRIVING THIS TRUCK WITH THE LIGHT ON. I HAVE ASKED DEALERSHIPS IF THEY SEE THE PROBLEM, BUT WAS ASKED FOR A COMMITMENT FOR UNKNOWN AMOUNTS OF MONEY TO CHECK AND REPAIR THIS PROBLEM. TRAVELING 55 MPH ON A NEW SMOOTH SECTION OF LA. HIGHWAY 1, WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN A LOUD GLASS SHATTERING NOISE HAPPENED BEHIND ME. WHEN I LOOKED BACK I SAW THE REAR WINDOW HAD SHATTERED AND ALL OF THE SHATTERED GLASS HAD BLOWN OUT TOWARDS THE REAR BED OF THE TRUCK. I NOTIFIED SOUTHERN CHEVROLET OF THE INCIDENT BY DRIVING BY THERE TO SHOW THE SALES PERSON THE EXPLODED CONDITION OF THE WINDOW. AFTER ATTEMPTING TO GET THE MANAGER, WE WENT IN TALKED WITH THE SERVICE MANAGER ABOUT IT. SHE HAD NO RECOLLECTION OF PREVIOUS FAILURES ON THIS TRUCK MAKE. THE SALES PERSON SAID HE WOULD FOLLOW UP WITH THE MANGER AND RESEARCH OF ANY OTHER PROBLEMS ASSOCIATED WITH THIS STYLE OF TRUCK AND CONTACT ME. NO RESPONSE RECEIVED AS OF THIS DATE 10.23.08. I THEN PROCEEDED TO GLASS PLUS AND HAD THE BACK WINDSHIELD REPLACED BECAUSE THE RAIN STARTING. *TR
I HAVE CONTACTED THE DEALER AND BEEN TOLD THE PART IS NOT AVAILABLE. THIS HAS BEEN ONGOING FOR 2 YEARS.
I PURCHASED A NEW CHEVROLET SILVERADO WITH THE VORTEC MAX PACKAGE IN SEPTEMBER OF 2008. SINCE NEW, THE VEHICLE HAS IDLED ROUGH AND SURGED AT STOPS. IT FEELS LIKE ANOTHER VEHICLE HAS BUMPED YOU FROM BEHIND. I HAVE BROUGHT THE VEHICLE IN NUMEROUS TIMES TO BE INSPECTED UNDER WARRANTY. GENERAL MOTORS CAME OUT WITH A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN STATING THAT IF THE VEHICLE HAS A ROUGH IDLE WITH NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IT IS A NORMAL CHARACTERISTIC OF THE VEHICLE. THE ROUGH IDLE CAUSES THE VEHICLES RPM'S TO SPIKE LEADING TO THE SURGE CONDITION. I HAVE ASKED FOR THE VEHICLE TO BE REPAIRED NUMEROUS TIMES UNDER THE EXISTING WARRANTY AND GENERAL MOTORS HAS NOT TAKEN ACTION STATING IT IS A NORMAL CHARACTERISTIC. THERE ARE MANY OTHER SILVERADO OWNERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM THAT DO NOT BELIEVE IT IS A NORMAL CHARACTERISTIC. ANY VEHICLE THAT FEELS LIKE IT WAS BUMPED FROM BEHIND IS A DEFINITE SAFETY CONCERN. I AM SCHEDULED FOR AN ARBITRATION HEARING ON JULY 11, 2011 WITH THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU AND GENERAL MOTORS TO DISCUSS THE PROBLEM. THE IDLE/SURGE PROBLEM HAPPENS SEVERAL TIMES PER WEEK. MY WIFE HAS ALSO EXPERIENCED THE PROBLEM WHILE DRIVING THE SILVERADO AND IMMEDIATELY CALLED ME ASKING WHAT WAS WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. I ENCOURAGE ALL OTHER GENERAL MOTORS CUSTOMERS EXPERIENCING THIS PROBLEM TO CONTACT GENERAL MOTORS, THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU AND THE NHTSA. *TR

CONSUMER HAS ISSUES WITH THE RECALL 08048 AND OTHER PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE. *NJ THE CONSUMER STATED THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS ACTIVATED ON THEIR OWN ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, THE RIGHT PASSENGER DOOR WINDOW LOCKOUT WAS INOPERATIVE, THE RIGHT SIDE DOOR MIRROR TILT FEATURE WORKED OCCASIONALLY, THE INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTS WORKED INTERMITTENTLY AND THE RADIO/CD PANEL LIGHTS WORKED SOMETIMES. THE CONSUMER STATED HE RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE IN THE MAIL WHICH STATED A SHORT CIRCUIT ON THE PRINTED CIRCUIT BOARD FOR THE WASHER FLUID HEATER MAY OVERHEAT THE CONTROL- CIRCUIT GROUND WIRE. THIS MAY CAUSE OTHER ELECTRICAL FEATURES TO MALFUNCTION. RECALL 08V441000. *JB
TAKATA AIR BAG RECALL - STILL HAS NOT REPLACED THE AIRBAG IN MY 2008 TRUCK. 2008!
NORMAL OPERATION UNTIL AUGUST 25, 2008. TRANSMISSION FAILURE OCCURRED ON A CITY STREET ENROUTE TO I-95. FAILED IN DRIVE AND COMPLETELY LOST REVERSE GEAR. LOUD SPINNING SOUND WAS HEARD. VEHICLE HAD 37, 351 MILES. THE MECHANIC AT MAROONE CHEVROLET SAID THE PROBLEM WAS WITH THE "CLAMSHELL". THAT IT HAD COME APART AND THERE WAS METAL THROUGHOUT THE SYSTEM. THEY RECOMMENDED A COMPLETE TRANSMISSION CHANGE AT THE COST OF $3, 377.07. WE WENT AHEAD WITH THE RECOMMENDED REPAIRS. SO FAR, NO PROGRESS WITH COMPLAINT RESOLUTION THROUGH GMC. *TR
