On 2-23-2026, while traveling at highway speeds on the freeway, the front upper and lower A-arms (control arms) suffered a complete structural failure. This caused an immediate loss of steering control, forcing the vehicle off the road. By sheer luck and reactive maneuvering, I was able to avoid a multi-vehicle collision; however, the failure resulted in over $4,000 in mechanical and body damage.
The contact owns a 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. While driving 43 MPH, the message "Brake Failure" was displayed. The contact then lost control of the vehicle, and the vehicle drove from the right side to the left side of the road, the vehicle drove off the road and crashed into a ditch before coming to a stop. The driver had not sustained any injuries. There was no property damage. The air bags did not deploy. The check engine, the ABS and several unknown warning lights were illuminated after the failure. A tow truck driver who was also a mechanic inspected the vehicle and informed the contact that the driver's side front suspension had fractured from the upper ball joint and the wheel was folded in underneath the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was being diagnosed. A Police Report was filed. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 98,000.
Upper control arm ball joint separated from the control arm causing steering loss.
The car while I’m driving, when I start driving it has a kick could be transmission
The upper ball joint on the passengers side failed or separated. This caused the truck to lose brake pressure and put the occupants lives in danger. The vehicle is currently at a GMC dealership in Killeen, TX being repaired. There were no warning signs or lamps.
I went to dealer for an oil change last week. They told me the left front shock had a minor leak and they would be ordering me a new one. After arriving home I noticed that the passenger side shock was also leaking. On 11/28/23 the truck went to the dealer to get both front shocks replaced. Upon arriving home after the new ones were installed I looked at the shocks and noticed the passenger side was leaking fluid to the point it was puddling in my driveway. The fluid was pissing out from inside the shock. I began taking photos and videos of such. My wife is 22 weeks pregnant and this was in needed stress for her. Not only did the brand new shock fail but put her and my future baby at risk.
The contact owns a 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while driving 70 MPH, the vehicle started to pull to the left and the contact became aware that front driver’s side wheel had separated from the vehicle. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact was able to pull over to the side of the road safely. The vehicle was towed to the dealer. A police report was filed. The contact was unsure if the vehicle was diagnosed. The dealer stated that the front driver’s side ball joint was defective. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 37,000.
Engine valve lifter failure at 20,000 miles; engine hesitation and power loss. Error to parking brake and to electronic stability control. Chevrolet to replace damaged lifter but refused to replace both banks of defective lifters. As a result of dysfunction I was stranded 1200 miles from home and have been waiting 2 weeks for repair. Still 1200 miles from home with 2 kayaks, 2 bikes etc.
I LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE WHEN THE ROAD BECAME BUMPY. THE VEHICLE WAS BOUNCING UP AND DOWN PITCHING FROM SIDE TO SIDE. I WAS DRIVING THE POSTED SPEED LIMIT. THIS HAPPENED ON THE DAY I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE AND I WAS ON MY WAY HOME FROM THE DEALERSHIP. AT FIRST I THOUGHT THE VEHICLE WAS ACTING LIKE THAT BECAUSE IT WAS NEW. NOPE. IT'S REAL. THE TRUCK BOUNCES AND PITCHES HARD EVERY TIME I HIT A BUMP IN THE ROAD. I EVEN DROVE BACK TO THE LOCATION WHERE IT HAPPENED ON THE FIRST DAY THAT I BOUGHT IT AND SURE ENOUGH THE VEHICLE ACTED THE SAME WAY. THE ENTIRE TRUCK SHAKES AND BOUNCES VIOLANTLY WHEN I GO OVER BUMPS. I'M TALKING ABOUT EVERY THING. THE SECOND THING IS THAT WHEN THE VEHICLE WARMS UP IT STARTS HUMMING LIKE AN ELECTRICAL TYPE OF HUM OR NOISE. THE HUMMING IS COMING FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE AND I CAN HEAR EVEN WHEN I'M STANDING OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. THE TRANSMISSION SLIPS WHEN I SLOW DOWN AND SPEED UP AGAIN. THE VEHICLE THAT I AM DRIVING IS DANGERIOUS AND SHOULDN'T BE ON THE ROAD. CITY STREET OR HIGHWAY DOESN'T MATTER IN MY CASE. THE TRUCK WILL VIOLENTLY SHAKE AT THE POSTED SPEED LIMIT.
THE ANTILOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS), BRAKES, AND ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEM (ESC) MIGHT NOT ILLUMINATE. THIS COULD CAUSE THE DRIVER TO NOT KNOW IF ANY OF THESE SYSTEMS ARE INOPERABLE.*DT*DT
THE INITIAL CALL IN FOR SERVICE IT WAS TAKEN IN ON 12292020/MILEAGE 1020 FOR A OIL CHANGE AND A CLUNKING NOISE COMING BACK FROM THE REAR END AT LOW SPEEDS, WHILE TURNING AND GOING OVER BUMPS AT ALL SPEEDS. THE DEALERSHIP WAS ABLE TO HEAR THE NOISE AND ADVISED THAT THEY CANNOT FIND OUT WHERE THE NOISE IS COMING FROM. THE DEALERSHIP ADVISED THAT THEY SUBMITTED A TICKET TO GM FOR THE NOISE. ON 03022021/MILEAGE 2797 THE TRUCK WAS TAKEN BACK INTO THE DEALER FOR THE SAME NOISE BECAUSE ITS GETTING LOUDER. THE DEALER AGAIN SAID THAT THEY HEARD THE NOISE BUT CANNOT FIGURE IT OUT. THEY ADVISED THAT THEY SUBMITTED ANOTHER TICKET WITH GM WAITING TO HEAR BACK FROM THEM THEY CLOSED OUT THE TICKET ON 03102021 WITH NO ANSWER FROM GM. I HAVE ALSO CALLED GM CUSTOMER SERVICE AND SPOKE WITH ON 03102021, AND TOLD ME TO CALL THEM BACK BECAUSE THEY HAD TO TRY AND LET THE DEALER RESOLVE THE ISSUE AND THE DEALER IS WAITING TO HEAR FROM GM. THE DEALER DID ADVISE ME THAT THERE WAS A SERVICE BULLETIN FOR 2020 CHEVY 1500 PICK UPS BUT NOTHING FOR 2021S SO THEY CAN DO NOTHING YET, THE SOUND SOUNDS LIKE TO ME THAT THE AXELS ARE GOING TO COME LOOSE OR THE SUSPENSION IS GOING TO DROP. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE FEARFUL THAT SOMETHING IS GOING TO COME OFF OR THE SUSPENSION IS GOING TO DROP IF I ATTEMPT TO TOW SOMETHING. THUS CAUSING PAIN, INJURY OR DEATH TO MYSELF OR ANOTHER INNOCENT PARTY. I AM CONSIDERING TAKING IT TO ANOTHER DEALER AGAIN TO SEE WHAT THEY SAY, BUT I FEEL THIS IS SAFETY CONCERN ALL PEOPLE WHO ARE HEARING THIS NOISE ON THEIR 2021 CHEVY PICK UPS. I ALSO WOULD LIKE TO ADD THAT THIS TRUCK HAS NO SUSPENSION MODIFICATIONS OF ANY TYPE AND IS ALL STOCK. THANK YOU FOR TAKING THE TIME TO LOOK INTO THIS. ALSO ATTACHED ARE THE WORK ORDERS FROM THE CHEVY DEALERSHIP. THANK YOU AGAIN
