I was driving down I 15 by Mald, Idaho and warning lights came on and the engine died. I had no power a guided the vehicle to.the shoulder. Th truck would.not restart and had to be towed home 80 miles. Since then they have had the vehicle 5 weeks and when I took it home I only got 5 m8les and it did the same thing. They towed it to the dealership and said it blew the engine again. Im.still waiting to hear when it will be fixed. Its very dangerous to drive a vehicle that just stops running in the middle of traffic.
When I first purchased my new 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 RST(6.2L Engine), i noticed a knocking noise under acceleration around 3-5000 miles. I took the truck into Tom Naquin Chevrolet for my first oil change around the 5k mile mark and notified them of the noise. And over the course of the next couple years, i mentioned the knocking noise every time I took it to Naquins, every 5k miles. Chevrolet deemed the noise as normal and told the dealership to perform no further inspections on the motor. The last two oil changes, I notified the dealership that the noise was getting worse and more noticeable when slightly accelerating. They heard the noise and reached out to chevrolet again and the same thing, they deemed it as normal and advised the dealership to not further investigate. Fast forward to November 30th, 2024, I had my family in the truck and we were driving back from getting a Christmas tree. When we left the tree farm, i noticed the knocking noise was significant and I had no power when accelerating. I dropped my wife and kids off and took my truck straight to the dealership. The second i pulled in, the truck shut off and the motor seized up. It has been at the dealership since that day and the replacement engine is still on backorder with no ETA provided.
- Engine seizure: Reason Undisclosed to me - Vehicle was traveling at highway speeds, lost power steering - Dealership disclosed that it was due to an engine seizure - UNKNOWN - Only 1 indicator came on the instrument cluster and occurred after the failure. The indicator stated “Shifting conditions not met” I had lost power from the vehicle and vehicle shifted into neutral by itself. The vehicle was within normal temperatures before the incident and maintenance was up-kept.
The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while the vehicle was stationary, the seat belt fasteners retracted; however, after adjusting the seat belt the seat belt failed to retract properly. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for repair, but the failure persisted. On a separate occasion, the rearview camera displayed a half-moon shape and block the visibility of the driver. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the dealer informed the contact that the issue was normal, and the vehicle was not repaired. On another occasion the contact stated while the vehicle was stationary, there was an abnormal ticking sound coming from the vehicle. While the contact was driving 75 MPH, the vehicle started to lose motive power. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact pulled over to the side of the road and the engine seized. The vehicle was towed to the dealer and was diagnosed with engine and lifter failure. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 25,537.
I am filing a complaint because my 2022 high country Chevrolet Silverado truck has experienced multiple dangerou transmission failures 4all occurring while driving resulting in complete loss of power sudden stalling in traffic placing everyone in danger. This vehicle has malfunction repeatedly since just day 10 after purchase date and each breakdown has been transmission related occurring suddenly transmission was replaced twice in last 4 months. First incident November 27, 2024 the truck stalled in the middle of the road on card sound heading to a job in the Florida Keys. The vehicle locked up while driving putting us at extreme risk two-lane road next to water with no shoulder. The truck remained in the service department at BOMNIN Chevrolet West Kendall for 73 days until February 7, 2025. The second incident was only 13 days after The truck again experience loss of power & transmission malfunction the second safety incident for the same issue vehicle was in the shop until March 5, 2025, third safety incident for the same issue was June 25, 2025 once again same issue transmission we took the truck back for service BOMNIN Chevrolet West Kendall. The truck remained in the shop for a full month. although the truck was returned July 25, 2025 and they said transmission was replaced. The truck continued to give us issues leading us to the last incident for the same exact thing transmission failed again October 7, 2025. again in the middle of a very dangerous street in Hialeah, Florida where we had to once again to the car to the service department the truck remained in the service department until November 21, 2025. Each failure has happened while driving. Two transmission replacements June service and Oct. 2025 three months apart. The truck is unsafe I am scared to drive it and we have children ranging from newborn, one year-old , teenagers. I keep getting a runaround between the GM customer service the service department. Almost 6 months non use first year!
Driving at cruising speed and the truck just shut off and left me stranded on the side of the road. Dealership said the engine died and it needs to be replaced. They’ve had it since Thanksgiving and today is the 19th of January.
Transmission started to having issues going uphill, against the wind and trying to get up to speed on the on-ramp of the highway.
My truck was put in the shop for loss of power. after 28 days the dealer had diagnosed and repaired the truck. They had to replace all of the valve train lifters along with 1 broken push rod. I was driving home at about 35 - 40 mph when my truck began to shutter and the steering felt like I was going over a washboard road. I was only less than a mile from my home when this started and was able to limp home and had the truck towed to the dealership. After I receive my truck back I opened a claim with GM. Claim # 9-14306272503 on 12/20/2024. I have not received any feedback from GM or the Dealer.
I purchased the truck June of 2023 Fast Forward to November 2024 their telling me my truck needs a new engine
The car decided to stop working all of a sudden without warnings or check engine lights, the sound was very loud and jolty, thankfully I was near my house and I was able to park the car. It sounded like there was a hiccup in between its jolt, and the car will shake aggressively until i turned it off. I had the truck towed to my dealer, it took two weeks for them to get back to me and tell me that my engine had metal shreds inside and I needed a new engine. It’s been almost 2 months and I’m still waiting for the tracking number of the new engine. The GM customer support has been very cooperative in regards to this issue. But the time and risk this kind of damage imposes in the vehicle makes me think twice about the safety of the truck. I certainly wouldn’t want this type of failure to happen at 65mph in a highway.
Sudden hard downshift from 10th gear to 5th great. Check engine light came on with message of reduced acceleration mode.
The transmission have a delay after you put in D after 2 of 3 minute it jump forward an another 10 feet does it again then drive ok until I stop the all stop when it restart it launch forward, I will have to hold brake down hard like emergency Stop to keep it rear in the vehicle in front of me. I have to be careful with somebody is in front me in crosswalk. The problem is in the center on some go black for hour, if it done do that everything freeze on the display some time for hour even if I stop and restart the truck, this is get worse as the week go by. This is my third update
A search of your site shows I have no unrepaired recalls. That is not true. I had a software update the was intstalled to keep me from going above 7th gear in my 10 speed transmission due to concerns over incidents of transmission/rear end lockup occuring when downshifitng from 8th to 7th gear. This update was done November 27, 2022, at Juneau Toyota, Juneau Alaska 99801. While this is supposed to protect me from a transmission/rear end lockup, it has impacted me in MPG since this updated, especially when towing a travel trailer. My MPG while towing a travel trailer was decreased by 30%. My highway travel MPG has been decreased by 17%. Yes GM is saying they are protecting my self and vechicle, It is costing me a lot at the pump. It has been almost 8 months since the recall updated software was installed and not a word when this will be repaired and I have a 10 speed transmission I purchased from GM back in full operation.
I have already file for the transmission know my center task is freeze up me and not work some time for hours, know this week the rear end have start make noise it start happen around about 40 mile and hour on and off alway up 80. This is a everyday thing.
I am submitting a complaint regarding recurring transmission issues with my 2022 Chevrolet Silverado (VIN: [XXX] ). These problems have compromised my safety and that of others on the road. Multiple repair attempts and discussions with GM have not resolved the issue. Incident Details: On [XXX], around 9 a.m., I experienced a severe transmission malfunction documented on dash cam. When I shifted out of park, the vehicle lunged forward, forcing me to brake suddenly, despite not applying gas. Minutes later, on an exit ramp, the transmission downshifted without throttle input, causing the rear end to fishtail as it attempted to throttle out and sounded stuck in neutral. Repair History: This issue has led to repeated repairs in January, February, and April of 2023 and 2024, as well as September 2023 and 2024. Despite these efforts, GM released a technical service bulletin classifying this transmission behavior as “normal” and has refused further repairs. Safety Impact: These unpredictable shifts and lack of responsiveness have created hazardous situations. Lunging, uncommanded downshifting, and rear fishtailing make it difficult to maintain control, especially in high-traffic areas. Request for NHTSA Investigation: Given these safety concerns, I urge NHTSA to investigate whether this defect affects other vehicles of this make and model year. An investigation may prevent future incidents and prompt GM to address this dangerous issue. Additional documentation, including dash cam footage, repair records, and communication with GM, is available to support this complaint. I was coming out of my workplace, made a right turn on to a Main Street, the lights were red so I was waiting to proceed and my truck engine just shut off. As the light turned green, I attempted to start the truck by turning the key off to restart the truck again, I tried twice to restart the truck, but it wouldn’t turn over, I couldn’t put my hazard lamps on because I lost all power. I was afraid because two 18 wheeler trucks were coming behind me . This area is heavily used by the trucking industry delivering goods to companies in the area. I was terrified that I was going to be hit from behind, I gave the ignition another try and the truck started, but it was sluggish in pulling off. I called the dealership that day and my new truck was at the dealership for almost a week. The following day of my drop off, the dealership said they recieved a recall on my truck. I have the repair ticket from the dealership. I no longer have faith in the truck that I paid so much money for, not the company that built it.
My Chevrolet Truck was purchased brand new with under a thousand miles on it. I was driving and the sensor went out at about 45,000 miles then the other sensor went out two days later. 15 thousand miles later my transmission went out. Was at the dealership for 6 months. Now I have the vehicle back and still isn’t driving correctly. Shifting problems
Engine seized up without warning while driving 55MPH on busy, curvy, two lane road. Coasted to a stop around a blind curve and stuck on narrow shoulder to pull over on. Date of occurrence was 9/3/24.
Transmission will not shift to park from drive or reverse on first attempt. It takes several attempts to put vehicle into park after it has been stopped.
While driving at highway speeds, the vehicle has spontaneously locked up the front brakes/wheels three separate times. All three times have been at 55- 65mph and have completely locked up the front brakes leaving tire marks on the pavement. No Automated Braking System engaged, just full lock up. No warning lights or OBD codes and the dealer mechanics can find nothing wrong.
As I was exiting a highway offramp after about (4) hours of driving, the Infotainment radio went to full volume as I was listening to music either on Spotify (through Apple Car Play) or Sirius XM, I can't remember. It startled me to the point I almost rear-ended the car in front of me. As fast as I was trying to turn the volume down with the steering wheel controls, it went right up to 100% faster. The mute button on the dash did not work, I finally was able to hit the pause button on the app., and eventually fiddled with the infotainment system until the volume controls returned to normal.
August 24, 2024 I was driving my 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 6.2 L V8 engine with 47,258 miles. I was traveling at approximate 65 mph. My engine siezed up and I had to pull my vehicle off of the two lane road I was traveling. The vehicle was towed to the dealership. Approximately a month after the vehicle engine seized because I did not have the funds to cover the repairs at the time of engine failure. Once the vehicle engine was diagnosed at the dealership I was advised that the repairs were under warranty. The repairs took appoximately one month due to waiting on new engine to be provided by the manufacture. My vehicle was returned repaired on 10/31/2024 with the same type of engine. I was advised that engine warranty would not be extended on the new engine. That this engine was only warranted under the old engine mileage and age.
The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while attempting to start the vehicle, the vehicle failed to respond. The failure was intermittent but had become a recurring failure. Occasionally, while attempting to start the vehicle, the starter was making an abnormal clicking sound, but the vehicle failed to respond as needed. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was towed to a local dealer to be diagnosed; however, the dealer was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The contact stated that the 12-Volt battery had been tested and was deemed to be in optimal condition. The vehicle was not repaired, and the failure reoccurred. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 11,000.
The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the tailgate would occasionally raise and lower independently even though the tailgate switch was not depressed. No warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that upon further investigation, the contact related the failure to an unknown recall; however, the VIN was not included. The local dealer was contacted, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.
The engine has been rough idling after being put in a GM certified repair shop multiple times within the last year. Also the oil pan has a constant issue with leakage even after doing 3000 dollars worth of work, including the oil pan being replaced. There was a safety recall put out for the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 for this very problem that my vehicle is having ( engine loss of propulsion) recall # N252494002 L87. This is affecting our livelihoods.
When putting my vehicle in park and turning vehicle off keys won’t come out and stay stuck. Problem continues to only get worse and I have to wait to remove key. Battery sometimes dies as I am very busy and don’t have time to sit there and play or wait for key to come out 10+minutes. In the heat vehicle is off as I am trying to remove key and I have a baby in the car seat in the heat. This is extremely frustrating and dealership won’t do anything about it. This is my only vehicle and I can’t afford a rental car while I send it in so I continue to deal with it. Sometimes I have to leave keys attached hoping no one steals my vehicle or belongings. I have taken to a mechanic and they cannot firguee out the issue.
I purchased this car on 7/15/24 and had no problems until 8/8/24 after I took my car through an automatic touchless car wash. Upon exiting the car wash, I noticed that the tailgate was now down even though I never unlocked it. I parked the car and closed the tailgate and began driving home. Halfway home, the tailgate opened again on its on. The bed was empty so I continued driving home and then closed it again. Later that night, I went out to take the garbage cans out to the street and again noticed the tailgate was down. I again closed it. The next morning, I went to go to work and the tailgate was again down. This would be a serious safety issue if I had items in the bed of my truck and the tailgate opened while driving. I searched this issue online and found that there are recalls for this exact issue in other trims of this truck but the recalls don't cover my trim. I took it to the dealer where I purchased it and they are looking into fixing it. I want you to know that this is an issue as well for this trim.
Vehicle emergency/parking brake actuators failed which could allow the vehicle to roll-away unexpectedly or render this safety braking system inoperable in time of emergency. There is a TSB number PIT 5662G, dated March 25, 2022 that covers testing to confirm defective actuators. This is a known defect to Chevrolet and as it impacts a vehicle operating safety system should be subject to a recall.
See attached document for complaint.
Hello, I was driving on the highway and all of a sudden the engine made a noise then the dash alerted me to shift into neutral/press start. I had to pull off the highway in single lane traffic and call for a tow. The truck was towed to the dealership. The truck lost power on the highway in single lane and there was no ability for other cars to go around me in a 75mph zone due to construction. The dealer diagnosis is that the motor is locked up and will require full replacement at only 70k miles. It is within years on powertrain but out due to mileage. There were no symptoms until the truck engine locked itself up.
The Transmission is stuck in 2nd gear, and won’t reverse. I bought the truck used from dealership. There is a GM Technical Bulletin, that states the vehicle is/was not to have been sold, prior to having the Transmission control Module replaced.
On more than one occasion, the vehicle jolted forward when going to accelerate from being stopped at a red light. It felt like the vehicle was rear ended by a vehicle behind (it was not) to give some perspective. The last time it happened, the engine shut down but the dash stayed on, and the dash would not turn off, nor would the engine restart. The Chevrolet dealership which it was towed to is stating that the wires from the engine wire harness are chaffing and that the entire engine wire harness needs to be replaced. Additionally, there is a service bulletin posted by GM indicating that the proper repair for this is to replace the engine wire harness and add additional protection, which is a clear indication of faulty engineering to begin with.
Ball Joint broke on front passenger side 2 times at 62 mph. 1st incident occurred [XXX] at 71,699 miles. 2nd incident occurred [XXX] at 135,543 miles. Second incident caused $6,500 body damage & $2500 in towing fees. I told GM the truck was unsafe to drive, which they failed to help. Any other vehicle in my path would have caused a major accident involving injury or death. The Ally warranty covers 150K miles. Dealer only covered mechanical repairs, not the body damage or any towing. All work has been serviced & inspected by the dealer: Upstate Chevrolet in Attica, NY 14011. No warnings or lights appeared. Transmission valve cover and yes available for inspection. It wouldn’t shift gears causing me to drive only 10mph. It has been reproduced. Not inspected and the check engine light came on when the vehicle started to shudder.
Engine failure. I was traveling back from vacation towing my trailer when without warning the engine seized up. No engine lights or high temperature until that moment. Fortunately we were traveling with another couple behind. Traveling at highway speed we pulled over on the shoulder. Friends pulled us off of the highway to a safe location to be towed when possible. Very concerning having to deal with that situation with family and friends on the highway!
The contact owned a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while his wife was driving at approximately 10 MPH and coming to a stop light, inadvertently the front driver-side wheel detached from the vehicle, which led her to collide with a vehicle that was parked on the right side. As a result, all of the underneath of the vehicle was damaged. The contact stated that the wheel flew away and fell in front of the driver attempting to turn to the right and also causing a collision. There were no warning lights illuminated, and no strange sounds were noticed before the failure. The airbags in the vehicle failed to deploy. There were five people in the vehicle during the incident. The contact and his wife suffered from injuries in the chest which required medical attention. The contact also stated that his daughter suffered from chest pain and his grandson from knee pain. The other people involved in the accident suffered minor injuries, and they were only interested in getting paid for the damages. The contact also stated that the vehicle was previously taken to an unknown local dealer for a strange sound emanating from the wheel; however, no failure was found. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately unknown.

Engine seized at 89,872 miles. Spun rod bearings, Spent a Month and a half waiting for a new motor. Motor was replaced and engine seized again at 10,000 miles. I had extended warranty that at first denied the claim but wound up paying. When the Motor seized a second time I traded the vehicle in. But at a significant cost to me as I would have kept that vehicle if it hadn't of had the Motor issues.
Bought the truck brand new and the transmission hard shifts in every gear. Has been in and out of the dealership nonstop for the past 2 years for electrical issues with the radio, an oil sensor wiring issue, and the dealership is trying to say 5 modules are out in the truck. They only posted 3 modules and they were transfer case module, power steering module, and body control module.
