NHTSA Owner Complaint Log
This page lists owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA for the 2023 Chevrolet Silverado. Complaints are unverified consumer reports submitted to NHTSA and do not by themselves prove a defect or defect rate.
September 2025; the fuel control module failed at 75 mph in the left lane of I-45 requiring me to pull over on the shoulder in heavy traffic. I eas towed to my dealership 170 miles. At that time the recall test was performed on my 6.2 L L87 engine and passed inspection. The oil was upgraded at that time. Jan. 3, 2026 at 65 mph the engine died, once again on the highway at over 65 mph. Again I struggled to get to the right shoulder in heavy traffic. At the moment of failure, the engine revved from 1500 rpm to 3900 rpm and instantly fell to zero rpm and died. A message on the dash read unable to put in vehicle neutral. Again, I had it towed to my dealership where it's been diagnosed with a seized engine and I'm waiting (three weeks so far) on an engine replacement. I'm told the manufacturer rep has been to the dealership to confirm the failure and approved a complete engine replacement. There was never any advanced warning appearing on the dash. I have thorough maintenance records on this vehicle.
The contact owns a 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that the tailgate lowered unexpectedly while driving at various speeds, and occasionally closed unintendedly. The failure also occurred while the vehicle was parked and turned off. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, and the failure was demonstrated. The tailgate switch was replaced. The contact became aware of a Canadian Recall, ID Number: N232426400, for the tailgate failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure; however, no repair was performed. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.
A few times before engine locked up, i was driving and out of no where it would shut off/lose all engine power and woukd shift to N automaticlly. Those 2 times it happend on the highway had to pull over to be able to turn it on again. The 3rd time it was at a busy intersection all 3 times i was with my wife and kids so was very dangerous. 3rd time it never turned on again with a low oil pressure message. Got it towed to the dealership and they told me the engine was locked up. So now at the dealer getting a new engine and radiator ect.
I was notified that my 2023 Silverado had an open recall (L87 Engine loss of propulsion). I brought the truck to the dealer for the recall on 8/19 with 35,921 miles on the vehicle. The inspection was performed and I was told it passed. When I asked about the extended special coverage they told me they didn't know what I was talking about. Only 4 months and 4,567 miles later, on 12/29, the vehicle shutdown in traffic and was not able to restart. The engine had failed and the starter fuse blew due to the motor being seized. The dealer relaced the engine due to the same recall that the engine had already been inspected and passed the inspection for.
While driving at 70mph, my vehicle spontaneously shifted into Neutral and therefore dropped power to the transmission. I was unable to shift out of Neutral and therefore had to coast to the shoulder. Upon coming to a complete stop, my truck independently shifted into Park. Again, I was unable to shift out of Park. I turned my truck off, let it sit for a few seconds before unsuccessfully attempting to restart my vehicle. Multiple attempts to restart my vehicle continued to be unsuccessful and the vehicle system would reboot then shut off.
While driving the vehicle the tailgate came open by itself. I had left my house and when I arrived at my friend’s house to pick him up the tailgate was down. I closed the tailgate and while driving a driver honked their horn to alert me that something was wrong. When I pulled off the road the tailgate had come open for a second time.
The contact owns a 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact was driving at approximately 35 MPH, and the steering wheel was difficult to maneuver, causing the vehicle to veer off the road and crash into a tree and a steep ditch, where it came to a stop. The air bags did not deploy. The "Service Power Steering" message was displayed on the instrument panel. The contact sustained injuries, including arm lacerations. The contact did not seek medical attention. A police report was not filed. The vehicle was towed to an auto body repair shop to get a diagnosis; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed as of yet. A dealer was contacted and went to the auto body repair shop to diagnose the vehicle; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 16,000.
The vehicle 'turned off' while in motion at around 35-40 mph on a busy 5-lane major arterial road in the city on 12/21/2025 at around 0630-0700 hours. Driver (author of this report) was able to turn into a side road and stop. Message "Press start button" displayed on dash panel. Complying with this action led to a coughing start but vehicle could not be put into drive mode because a second message appeared saying "Conditions not safe for transfer". Eventually over next minute or two vehicle coughed up to a start again and was able to put into drive mode and drive to parking garage to safety. Driver was able to drive back about 3 hours later with no recurrence or new malfunction. No warning lights throughout the episode. My Chevrolet mobile app also did not display error messages. Vehicle was driven (without incident) and delivered to a Chevrolet dealer on 12/24/2025 for diagnostics and workup and is currently situated there.
Tail gate has water intrusion and opens on it own. I was charge over $200 to have this issue looked at that I was told was a recall. Turns out my vehicle is not listed on the recall yet and was not advised before being charged.
The contact owns a 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that the tailgate was constantly opening unintendedly. The failure also occurred while the vehicle was parked overnight, causing the battery to drain. Additionally, the contact stated that the rearview camera was inoperable. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed, and determined that the tailgate switch and rearview camera had failed due to water intrusion. The dealer replaced the tailgate switch; however, the rearview camera was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 38,000.
My truck passed the recall PICO test right at 20,000 miles. The dealer put thicker 0w40 oil in. Less than 2,000 miles later, upon hard acceleration from 5-8mph, the engine climbed to 58mph then lost power, shifted itself into Neutral and coasted to the side of road. Truck was towed and told the engine seized up. Changing the oil did not make sense to me as lubrication was always available previously, thickening it does not change the port mill sizes for properly oiling the crank bearings. Now the new engine is revised but I see failures in low milage 2026 models happening.
Yesterday I was driving and the pickup truck put itself into neutral and died in the middle of the road and almost got rear ended with my kids in the car. The car would not start again and no codes were given.
Fuel pump control module failed and vehicle is available for inspection upon request. cell [XXX] Truck engine shut down twice on interstate 10 eastbound in TX at interstate speeds, in heavy traffic causing dangerous threat to my family and I while powerlessly navigating between high speed traffic and 18 wheelers to exit road independent service center?Yes and independent. Code read on truck's computer confirmed a failed fuel pump control module The vehicle or component has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? There were no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Vehicle had recall for L87 engine performed, resulting in a change to 0W-40 motor oil and a new fill cap. Approximately one week later, the engine failed completely, with evidence of significant bearing wear in the used oil analysis I had performed. The engine has since been replaced under warranty. There was no prior warning to the failure, except for unusual noises during the failure.
was crossing an intersection when the truck suddenly and without warning stopped (engine). Unable to shift the truck into neutral in order to move the truck out of the flow of traffic. This is because the truck has the electronic shifter which requires the truck to be running in order to shift. There is not a manual override. So basically the truck was in the middle of an intersection with cars and trucks weaving around it until the tow truck arrived. But since the truck wasn’t able to be shifter into neutral the tow truck had to maneuver around to the front and “drag the truck onto a flat bed in order to clear the vehicle. Also it turns out that there is a major issue with the fuel pump module on these trucks and the tow truck driver said he has seen this happen a lot and very common. As a result these types of issues are likely to result in a near of fatal accident in the near future.
The contact owns a 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving approximately 30 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power. The contact stated that several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The contact pulled over and turned off the vehicle. The contact restarted the vehicle after twenty minutes and was able to drive normally. The contact stated that after starting the vehicle and shifting to drive(D) or reverse(R), the vehicle failed to move. The contact stated that recently the vehicle stalled, and the check engine warning light was illuminated and was not turning off. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer, but the vehicle was not diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 19,000.
The contact owns a 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that the vehicle was repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V274000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING), but the failure occurred. The contact was informed by the dealer that the vehicle had passed inspection, and the dealer added a higher viscosity oil, installed 6 oil fill caps, and replaced the oil filter. The contact stated that six months after the vehicle was repaired, there was an abnormal squeaking sound coming from the engine. The contact stopped at a gas station to refuel. Afterwards, the vehicle failed to restart, and there was smoke coming from under the hood. The contact stated that the engine had seized. The contact was at the gas station when the failure occurred. The vehicle was towed to a dealer; however, no cause for the engine failure was found. The contact was informed that the sound was coming from one of the drive belts. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was then towed to another dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the abnormal sound was coming from loose bearings in the engine. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The long block in the engine and the radiator were replaced on January 1st. The contact stated that a week after the vehicle was repaired, the vehicle failed to start. After several attempts, the vehicle restarted. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer. However, no cause for the failure was found. The dealer recharged the battery. The contact stated that shortly afterwards, the vehicle failed to start. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the starter had failed. The contact requested that the dealer check the ground strap, but the dealer refused. The vehicle remained at the dealer unrepaired. The contact stated that the dealer would notify the manufacturer of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 44,469.
While driving at highway speeds, in traffic, all dash lights lit up and the engine shut off. The truck began decelerating on its own, I couldn’t brake and could barely steer. Luckily I was going fast enough that I managed to coast about a hundred feet to get partly out of traffic. The truck would never start again and I had to wait for 7 hours for GM roadside assistance to tow me to a Chevy dealer that was 4.6 miles away. 23 hours later the dealer called me and told me the starter caused the problem, in which I told them made no sense. 30 mins later they called and said the motor failed due to recall N252494003 for the L87 engine. My truck had passed the recall inspection for this recall on Sep 24th, 2025 and received the new oil that was supposed to prevent this failure. I had also just had the oil changed again around Nov 13th because the FCW module needed a firmware update and was not functioning. The truck had given NO warning or issues previous to Dec 3rd.
My tailgate latch keeps opening every 60 seconds. Does it going down the road or parked. my tailgate has hit numerous cars that parked behind me causing me to have to pay out of pocket for 2 other cars where my tailgate dented or scraped the paint on their vehicles. I see this safety recall online for this tailgate latch, but my vehicle isn't covered for some reason. Safety recall N232426400 explains the entire issue with the faulty latches. Due to the faulty latch, now my tailgate also needs bodywork and to be repainted. That's costly.
General Motors sent me a letter regarding a safety recall regarding my 6.2L V8 gas engine (ROP L87). Safety recall N252494000. I learned that my truck has the potential to have a complete engine failure. I took my truck to the dealership and all they did was an inspection and changed the oil on it. I'm not a mechanic, but total engine failure is concerning to say the least. I doubt simple change in oil thickness remedies serious recall. I learned there is an open lawsuit regarding this issue. I need Chevy to take this matter more serious, Im driving my family around in a ticking time bomb. I demand more than a band-aid. I want Chevy to replace my engine with a new reliable one.
The contact owns a 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, and attempting to slow the vehicle, the brake pedal required an increased effort to slow the vehicle, and the vehicle required an increased distance to come to a complete stop. The vehicle returned to normal functionality, but the failure became a regular occurrence. The ABS warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, and the contact was informed that a failure could not be determined as the vehicle was functioning as intended and that no warning lights were illuminated during the time at the service center. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, a case was opened, and the contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 17,000.
I was driving my vehicle when the check engine light came on and a message then came across the screen and stated the truck would no longer shift if I didn’t stop driving it. I took It immediately to Autonation Chevrolet Service on Nov 9. I received it back on 11/26 my service advisor said it passed inspection that no work was completed I needed to use high synthetic oil and filters for my truck to keep it going. This doesn’t sound correct when I’ve owned several Chevy/GMC trucks. I only have 33k miles on my truck and want the recall fixed. Please help me get this taken care of. After have the engine tested it was determined that my vehicle will receive the 0W/40 oil. After that change I have notices a lot of rattling and the engine not behaving like it should.
I am writing to formally document a series of catastrophic mechanical failures involving my vehicle, as well as serious inaccuracies currently reflected on the Carfax report. At approximately 15,000 miles, my vehicle experienced a catastrophic engine failure that required a full engine replacement. Less than 900 miles after the engine replacement, the vehicle then suffered a catastrophic transmission failure, which also required replacement. In connection with the transmission failure, there was also a fuel module issue that left me stranded. These failures were not minor or routine service events. One breakdown occurred on a major roadway and required the road to be shut down due to the vehicle being disabled. Another breakdown occurred on the Florida Turnpike as a result of complete engine failure, leaving me stranded in a highly dangerous situation. Despite the severity of these events, the Carfax report does not accurately reflect what occurred. The Carfax report does not state that the engine was replaced, and the transmission failure is not identified as a transmission replacement at all. Instead, it is reported as routine or normal service, without any indication that a catastrophic transmission failure or replacement occurred. This misrepresentation significantly understates the true condition and mechanical history of the vehicle. Due to the repeated catastrophic failures, the circumstances under which they occurred, and the risk posed to my safety and the safety of my family, I am genuinely afraid to drive this vehicle. I want to ensure that all of this information is properly documented and that the vehicle’s records accurately reflect its true history and condition.
While driving and idling, my 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 High Country equipped with the 6.2L v8 engine began experiencing a persistent audible ticking/clicking noise from the engine bay, rough idle during cold starts, and noticeable/abnormal engine vibration. Shortly after, the check engine light came on. When scanned, diagnostic codes P0304 (Cylinder 4 Misfire Detected) and P050D (Cold start Rough Idle) were retrieved. The vehicle was inspected by an authorized Chevrolet dealership, and the service advisor and technician confirmed hearing a consistent clicking noise and documented that they contacted GM's Technical Assistance Center (TAC case #80413912). The service order report states: "Due to unknown noise cannot perform recall. Called TAC 80413912 and was told need to figure out top end noise and misfire before proceeding with recall. If repairs are related to top end, will not be covered under recall." The technician indicated this could be related to a camshaft and lifter issue, which matches the symptoms outlined in GM's active propulsion system recall for 6.2L engines. Suggests GM aware & has not yet confirmed full recall coverage/repairs. This issue presents a significant safety risk because the engine could experience sudden power loss or failure while driving, potentially leading to loss of propulsion or control. These symptoms are identical to those described by GM in their recall documentation concerning valve lifter and camshaft failures. The issue has been reproduced and confirmed by the dealership, and all documentation, diagnostics reports, and service notes are available for inspection upon request. Warning/check-engine lights first appeared in October 2025, and the problem persists. Based on GM's recall acknowledgment of similar failures, I believe this defect should be fully covered under the existing recall, and I am requesting NHTSA's review to ensure manufacturer addresses this safety-related defect promptly and without cost to owners.
My 2023 Silverado 1500 6.2L ZR2 AEV with 17,500 miles went into the shop for the L87 Loss of Propulsion recall, on 20 OCT 2025. The dealership didnt contact me for 2 weeks, so I called. They than told me my truck failed the pico test and needed a new engine. I also asked for my leaf springs to be looked at under tsb for excessive noise. I also asked for my ZR2 to have the new update installed for the radio fix (my speakers crackle when I talk to people on bluetooth). They had my truck from 20 OCT 2026 until 27 JAN 2026 for a total of 99 days straight. No loaner was available. I had to call GM customer service every week for subpar updates from the dealership. Im active duty army so not having my pov to report to work was very stressful. When I got my truck back, it was covered in dirt, oil on the exterior paint and inside the engine bay. The dealership didnt update my truck as requested and didnt touch my leaf springs at all. They said it would take 5-7 weeks to get new ones, but I needed my vehicle back which is anitated on the work order. Thr parts were all delivered 45 days after it sat there and my truck wasn't worked on until day 94 as advised by the service advisor, as the mechanic would get to it after his next vehicle. I asked how is my truck not priority sitting there for 93 days at the time. GM customer service has submitted my vehicle payment reimbursement as I paid 4 payments while having no vehicle or loaner. $44 a day for a rental at my duty station would cost me considerable amount of my own money to cover the rest and would not be a similar vehicle to my truck, as ot would be a small car. JN Chevrolet in Honolulu did not communicate when it failed the test for 14 days, I had to call them, they gave zero updates for 2 months, I had to call GM customer service. I only received 4 calls in total from the dealership when I asked to speak to the manager. (Who never called me back). I got my truck back filthy, other services ignored. 3rd Silverado and last.
Driving at highway speeds, truck downshifted to low gear causing a sudden deceleration and check engine light appeared along with 'Service Transmission' message. Was almost rear ended by multiple cars, but was able to guide truck to the shoulder through traffic. Shut down truck and restarted with message still appearing although gear shifting seemed to be normal. After stopping at a gas station to look up error, on next restart error cleared and truck drove for almost a week without issue and ~300-400 miles. Once again driving at highway speeds the same scenario happened with downshift in heavy traffic and had to pull to the shoulder. Waiting to bring to dealer, but mileage on truck is just over the 60,000 mi warranty period. Codes on reader indicate P0700 and P0747.
Truck shut off as I was driving. NO Warning. On a hill poor visibility Gratefully no injury. Required tow truck to dealer. Just received statement REPLACED FUEL CONTROL MODULE. Vehicle has 14000 miles Cost was covered by warranty but this should not have happened! Warranty does does not cover how shaken as I am a senior driver trusting this truck.
Vehicle vehicle is shuddering while driving at speed limit as well as accelerating. Based on research, it is apparent that there is an issue with the torque converter in this year model of truck. I have found more than 50 individuals online who have dealt with the same issue.
While driving at low speeds with light acceleration, the truck seems to sputter. When activating trailer mode this issue stops leading me to believe there is an issue with the torque converter. By searching forums, this seems to be a known issue with these vehicles. With it being as widespread as it is, I fell like this constitutes some sort of recall or customer satisfaction type of action.
It burns a significant amount of oil. I had an oil consumption test completed with a GM dealership, they state it is in their guidelines of standard. It burns around 2 quarts of oil within 5000 miles, so between oil changes. The add oil alert popped up while I was driving down the highway. My truck has 33500 miles on it, it should not be normal for a new truck to burn that much oil. They will not check my engine to identify the cause because they state it is within their standards.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY DOING 75 AND THE TRUCK STARTED JURKING AND SLOWING DOWN BY ITSELF AND GETTING LOUD. THE DISPLAY STATED REDUCE SPEED AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON..
Driving down the road and the engine turns off with no warning lights, noise, or any indication of an issue. I was luckily able to use momentum and move to the side of the road. The Chevy dealer has inspected the engine and concluded that the engine is blown.
Sometime between backing into my parking spot at work, then backing into a parking spot at the dentist, My Tailgate released/lowered. When I backed in at the dentist, my back up camera seemed to malfunction, so I just used my mirrors. Apparently, the camera was just pointing at the ground. Sine you can't see your tailgate in the mirrors; I could not see that it hit the retaining wall at the back of the space.
I am filing a complaint regarding a potential recurring safety defect related to Recall NHTSA 25V274 (GM N252494001). On July 29, 2025, my vehicle stalled while driving on the highway and was towed to Quality Chevrolet. The dealer diagnosed a failed starter and battery fuse link. During this visit, I authorized inspection for Recall 25V274, concerning possible crankshaft or connecting rod failure. I was told my vehicle was not affected but the dealer performed the recall remedy by changing the oil to 0W-40. On October 5, 2025, the vehicle developed a loud knocking noise from the engine. Quality Chevrolet diagnosed a connecting rod failure, the same issue identified in the recall. On October 10, 2025, I was advised that GM approved a full engine replacement due to internal damage. However, I was also told the new engine will use lower viscosity 0W-20 oil, contradicting the prior remedy intended to prevent this failure. This suggests the original recall fix was only a temporary measure, and the defect remains unresolved. I request that NHTSA investigate whether the current recall remedy adequately corrects this safety issue and whether GM’s use of 0W-20 oil could allow repeat failures. Additionally, I request assistance or reimbursement for vehicle payments, as my vehicle has been undrivable for an extended period due to a manufacturer defect. Thank you for your time and attention. I can provide all service records and diagnostic reports upon request.
Engine light keeps returning after dealer visits for oil change. Exhaust heat shield rattles since day one of ownership. During Normal commute, when I accelerate reduced power comes on and doesn’t allow me to accelerate much. Engine Electrical System, including the Charging and Starting System. Checked battery, alternator, and starter
The contact owns a 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that on two separate occasions while hauling the camper, the "High Diesel Exhaust Fluid", Exhaust Fluid Range", and "Fill DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fluid) Now" warning messages were displayed on the instrument panel. The messages indicated that the Diesel Exhaust Fluid was low and needed to be replenished. The contact stated that the failure caused the instrument panel to freeze and not operate as needed. Upon attempting to refuel the vehicle, fuel failed to enter the fuel tank since the diesel tank was full. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, where the contact was informed that the failure was an electrical glitch and that there were no issues with the Diesel Exhaust Fluid system. The contact was also informed by the dealer of Technical Service Bulletin: 22-NA-150, which the contact related to the failure. The dealer reset the vehicle, which caused the instrument panel to return to normal operation. The manufacturer was then notified of the failure, and the contact was informed that vehicle was not included in the TSB. The contact was given a case number and was referred to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 55,000.
I was traveling when on my dash came up "software update available" so I looked at how to and said truck will need to be off for 15 minutes during software installation so I decided to wait until I got home from trip. So on the moring of October 2, 2025 did the software update in my driveway. Then in the afternoon needed to go somewhere and I saw the service engine warning symbol on dash. Went to where I needed to go, 4 miles from home. Then when I was finished headed home and on way home warning on dash came up, "Service Transmission Now Unable to Shift Soon". So I got home and made some phone calls and ended up taking truck into Polar Chevrolet, White Bear Lake, MN. Thursday before they closed. Friday October 3 got a call from Polar Chev and issue is "Gearshit control module", part number 86515985. But was told part was out of stock and could take 1 week or even upto 1 month for them to get part. Looking on internet did see that this warning has come on from other people right after they did the software update. Needless to say my estimate for repair is going to be somewhere form $900 - $1000. So now have to wait and see when they get part and if it is actually issue.
OnStar Module needs to be replaced and of course the module died right after the warranty went out. After research come to find out this is an issue with all GMC and Chevy vehicles
GPS system behaves erratically. (Position jumps around). Phone gps very stable. While using navigation in the truck the jumping position causes the map to jump and swing also it lags behind missing turns etc. This is proving to more of a distraction making me look at the map longer. I tried dealership and they said it works while I have video evidence of its behavior. I will try another dealership but maybe thousands of others are having same issue and this help to force a fix.
Date of Incident: [XXX] Approximate Time of Incident: [XXX] EST Location of Incident (City and State): Tallahassee, Florida Street or Highway Name: [XXX], lane between [XXX] & [XXX] Weather Conditions: Clear and dry, approximately 90°F While traveling at approximately 72 MPH in the center lane of [XXX] westbound near Tallahassee, FL, the vehicle suddenly began rapidly decelerating after shuttering, as if the brakes were being applied without driver input. A warning message appeared on the dashboard instructing the driver to restart the engine. At the same time, the steering and brakes became noticeably stiffer, suggesting that the engine had shut down. The driver navigated across high-speed traffic, nearly avoiding being rear-ended by other vehicles, and was able to bring the vehicle to a stop on the shoulder. Multiple attempts to restart the vehicle were unsuccessful. The incident posed a serious safety risk due to the loss of engine power and driving assist features in active interstate traffic. After the incident, the vehicle was towed to Dale Earnhardt Chevrolet (3127 W Tennessee St, Tallahassee, FL 32304), where it is scheduled for inspection on or after Monday, September 30, 2025. The dealership may retain the faulty part(s) and the vehicle is available for further inspection upon request. No prior warning lights or symptoms were noticed before the incident occurred. My telematic control module has intermittent connectivity. The check engine light comes on and off and the go's, on star and wifi comes and goes as well. This vehicle has 52k miles on it and is only 2 years old. The shop I took this to said it is VIN specific so the dealer is the only place that can fix it. This is a safety issue due to no onstar as onstar claims to be a safety feature. This needs a recall because this issue is all over the place on gm products.
The vehicle has been exhibiting occasional hard shifts over the last 2-3 months. Over the last 2-3 weeks the frequency has increased. While operating the vehicle at approximately 30 mph the rear wheels temporarily locked during one of these events while my wife was operating the vehicle. There was no indication that this was going to happen and no indication after the event. We took the vehicle to the dealership where they performed a diagnostic but found nothing wrong. In the week since picking up the vehicle I have been operating it. I experienced two occasions where upon trying to accelerate at approximately 30 mph there was a severe jolt that caused the traction control warning light to flash. This was under minor acceleration just to maintain speed when going uphill. There was no indication prior to the event and once it had concluded the lights went off. I also experienced an occurrence of the rear wheels locking temporarily. I was traveling at approximately 40 mph on flat ground and gently stepped on the accelerator to maintain my speed in traffic. The rear tires locked for 1-2 seconds to the point the tires were squealing and you could smell burning rubber. There was no indication prior to the event that it was coming. Given my necessary reaction I was unable to see if there were any indicators or warnings present. Following the event there were no indicators illuminated. Outside of these events the vehicle seems to operate normally. It runs well and generally shifts smooth. However, the rear wheels locking up unexpectedly presents an unacceptable hazard that is not resulting in any evidence that the dealer can use to troubleshoot.
The Guidance lines on my back up camera have gone out, and only shows a hourglass. In doing online research this shows up as being a large problem.
The contact owns a 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while pulling into a parking space and turning the steering wheel to the right, the vehicle surged forward going up onto the curb, and the contact depressed the brake pedal; however, the vehicle failed to stop. The contact continued to depress the brake pedal however, the vehicle continued driving approximately 5-10 MPH. The contact shifted into neutral(N); however, it was too late, and the vehicle crashed into another parked vehicle before coming to a stop. The contact stated that during the failure, the braking system had malfunctioned while depressing the brake pedal. No injuries were reported. A Police report was filed at the scene. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The contact stated that one week before the failure, at almost the same spot, while driving at an undisclosed speed, the Forward Collision Avoidance warning light illuminated and remained illuminated without another vehicle being nearby. The contact turned off the vehicle, exited the vehicle and inspected the vehicle before re-entering and restarting the vehicle, and the Forward Collision Avoidance warning light remained illuminated. The contact turned and restarted the vehicle and the warning light was no longer illuminated. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 11,000.
The contact owns a 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the engine was running rough. The message "Service ECM" was displayed. The vehicle was taken to Auto Zone, where diagnostic trouble codes displayed fuel injector misfiring on cylinders 1 and 4. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
Engine coolant valve failure causing vehicle to go into reduced power mode while traveling on highway causing vehicle to travel at a slow unsafe speed in relation to other traffic. Check engine light activated, reduced power activated. Chevrolet dealership confirmed engine coolant control valve issue. Engine control valve must be replaced before vehicle can be driven. Engine Coolant control valve is on back order. No part replacement time frame due to back order. Safety concerns with reduced power mode on roadway with speed limits greater than 45 mph.
See attached document for complaint.
Vehicle check engine light came on and message displayed on dashboard indicating (loss of power) the transmission fluid temperature rose from 140* to 190* in seconds with vehicle coming to a complete stop while driving when trying to accelerate the vehicle it won't move but the engine rpm's were staying between 3 & 4 when accelerating.
The fuel pump went out, left me stranded and was replaced The transmission went out and was replaced. The lifters in the engine were replaced. When will the engine recall be addressed/acted on? The "cure" to install heavier engine oil is a very bad "bandaid"....truly masks the problem. Maybe the Chevy CEO should return her 2024 $25mm bonus to help pay for the repairs.
