DEFECTIVE SPEEDOMETER, HAVE CONTACTED CHEVY ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS AND THEY REFUSE TO PAY FOR COST. GM RECALLED SAME DEFECT ON OTHER MODELS EXCEPT MINE WHICH IS A 2005 CHEVY SUBURBAN. CHEVY TOLD ME MY CAR EXCEEDED ALL WARRANTY DUE TO MILEAGE WHICH IS IN THE 80K RANGE. THIS IS A DEFECTIVE PART AND SHOULD BE REPLACED NO MATTER WHAT MILES I HAVE ON THE CAR. CURRENTLY THIS PROBLEM IS INTERMITTENT SO I'M NEVER SURE IF SPEEDOMETER IS RIGHT OR WRONG. MY TEENAGER DRIVES MY CAR AND IS UNABLE TO KNOW WHAT ACTUAL SPEED HE'S DRIVING. THIS IS POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS AND I CANNOT AFFORD TO REPAIR MYSELF. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND LOOKED DOWN AND THE SPEEDOMETER SAID 100! CARS WERE PASSING ME AND I KNEW THERE WAS NO WAY I WAS DRIVING 100. ONCE I GOT TO MY DESTINATION, SITTING STILL THE SPEEDOMETER WAS AT EITHER 50 OR 60. WHEN IN MOTION IT USUALLY READS ABOUT 105-115 WHEN GOING BETWEEN 60-70 MPH. (I THINK, I REALLY HAVE NO IDEA SINCE MY SPEEDOMETER IS BROKEN!!!) I HAVE JUST OVER 75,000 MILES ON A 2005 SUBURBAN 1500. *TR
THE SPEEDOMETER ON MY 2005 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN STOPS WORKING AT RANDOM TIMES. IT STARTED APPROX. ONE WEEK AGO AT 73000 MILES. SINCE IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY, CHEVROLET WILL NOT PAY. THERE IS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT FILED FOR MY VEHICLE. *TR
MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND SPEEDOMETER BEGAN ACTING ERRATICALLY. AT A STOP LIGHT SPEEDOMETER READS 25 MPH. IGNITION WAS TURNED ON/OFF WITH NO RESULTS. *TR
2005 CHEVY SUBURBAN ODOMETER IS FAULTY. IT STOP WORKING PROPERLY ON MY CHEVY TRUCK. IT OVERSHOOT THE SPEED ALL THE WAY TO MORE THAN 120MILES/HR WHEN I DO NOT GO OVER 30MILES/HR. GM NEEDS TO TAKE OWNERSHIP OF IT. NEEDS TO HAVE RECALL. IT IS SAFETY OF GENERAL PUBLIC. PLEASE FORCE THEM TO RECALL FOR THE ODOMETER. *TR
AS I HAVE READ THIS IS A RECURRING PROBLEM. MY SPEEDOMETER ON OUR 2005 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN 67,000 MILES QUIT WORKING. ON A LONG TRIP IT WOULD ONLY SHOW 45-60 MPH. I KNOW I WAS GOING ALOT FASTER. WHEN I ACCELERATED IT WOULD SLOWLY JUMP UP TO SPEED. SEVERAL TIMES THE OIL PRESSURE GAUGE WAS AFFECTED ALSO. WE HAD THE CLUSTER REPLACED AT THE DEALERSHIP. LUCKILY WE HAD AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. IN MY OPINION THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN FROM DEC 08 UNTIL MAY OF 09 IT HAPPENED 10 TIMES. *TR
2005 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN APPROX. 64,000 MILES I HAVE A FAULTY READING SPEEDOMETER, WHICH I FEEL IS A SAFETY HAZARD. I NEVER KNOW HOW FAST I AM GOING. THANKFULLY I HAVE NOT HAD A ACCIDENT OR GOTTEN A SPEEDING TICKET YET. I TOOK IT IN TO MY MECHANIC, WHO TRIED REPLACING THE SPEED SENSOR IN THE TRANSMISSION, TO NO AVAIL. I KNOW THERE IS A RECALL FOR 2003 & 2004 MODELS. I TRIED CALLING THE GM HOTLINE AND WAS TOLD THERE ARE NO RECALLS FOR 2005. I CALLED A LOCAL DEALER WHO TOLD ME THE SAME THING. I DON'T KNOW WHERE TO GO FROM HERE. I WOULD LIKE TO GET IT FIXED BEFORE IT REACHES 70,000 MILES. THE DEALER DID ASK IF I WAS THE ORIGINAL OWNER. I ASSUME THEY WOULD SAY IF I WASN'T, THEY WOULD NOT FIX IT. I DON'T KNOW WHAT THAT SHOULD HAVE TO DO WITH ANYTHING. WHAT OR WHERE DO I GO FROM HERE? *TR
MY 2005 K1500 SUBURBAN SUSTAINED A CRACKED HEAD WITH 73,000 ON THE ENGINE. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT MY DEALERSHIP HAS NO INFORMATION THAT A MANUFACTURING PROBLEM EXISTS. THE REPAIR COST OVER $2,000. THIS IS NOT A NORMAL OCCURRENCE OR EXPECTED VEHICLE WEAR. *TR
MY OIL PRESSURE GAUGE STARTED READING "0" IN NOVEMBER 2008 BUT THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH MY OIL. (MILEAGE APPROX. 49,000) I CHECK IT OFTEN AND HAVE THE OIL CHANGED REGULARLY. IN FEBRUARY 2009 MY SPEEDOMETER STARTED REGISTERING INACCURATELY. FIRST, IT WOULD SAY I WAS GOING 40 MPH AT A DEAD STOP. CURRENTLY, IT IS PAST THE 120 MPH MARK AND HOLDING. (MILEAGE 52,000) I TOOK IT TO A CHEVY DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC EVALUATION. I WAS TOLD IT WAS THE DASHBOARD CIRCUIT BOARD AND THAT IT WOULD BE $500 TO REPLACE IT. THE SERVICE MANAGER TOLD ME THAT THIS PART HAD BEEN RECALLED ON THE 2003-2004 MODELS BUT NOT THE 2005. THAT I COULD PAY FOR THE REPAIR AND IF IT WAS RECALLED I COULD BE REIMBURSED. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN ESPECIALLY WITH YOUNG TEENAGE DRIVERS. IT SEEMS OBVIOUS TO ME READING THROUGH ALL THE COMPLAINTS FOR THE 2005 MODEL AND THE RECALLS OF PREVIOUS YEARS THAT THE 2005 MODEL SHOULD BE RECALLED AS WELL. *TR
THE SPEEDOMETER IN MY 2005 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN HAS DEVELOPED A TICKING NOISE IN THE PAST FEW DAYS. THE VEHICLE HAS 83, 300 MILES. IT STARTED AS A LOW CLICKING NOISE AND HAS CONTINUED TO BECOME LOUDER. I HAVE CONTACTED THE LOCAL CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP, WHICH GAVE ME NO SATISFACTION FOR REPAIRS. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SPEEDOMETER DISPLAYS INACCURATE READINGS ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. HE CANNOT DETERMINE THE APPROPRIATE SPEED, WHICH IS A SAFETY ISSUE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE INSTRUMENT CONTROL CLUSTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AT THE COST OF $600. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT BECAUSE A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT DOES NOT INCLUDE THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE YEAR, THEY WOULD NOT ASSUME ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE REPAIR. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. IN NOVEMBER, MY SPEEDOMETER ON MY 2005 SUBURBAN 1500 STARTED FLUCTUATING ALL OVER THE PLACE. SOMETIMES IT DOESN'T EVEN READ ON THE NUMBERS. CALLED DEALER AND THEY SAID THEIR WAS A RECALL ONLY UP TO 2004. I READ ON LINE THAT ALOT OF PEOPLE WERE HAVING TROUBLE WITH THE CLUSTER. NOW IN BEGINNING OF FEBRUARY MY GAS GAGE IS READING WRONG. THINGS ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL ARE NOT WORKING RIGHT. THIS ALL STARTED HAPPENING UNDER 50,000 MILES. MY HUSBAND IS LAID OFF AND WE JUST DON'T HAVE THE MONEY TO FIX IT. PLEASE HELP!! *TR
I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE LAST YEAR AND I AM HAVING PROBLEMS WITH MY SPEEDOMETER AND MY RPM GAGE. I WAS DRIVING AND MY SPEEDOMETER JUST KEPT MOVING UP AND FINALLY IT JUST GOT STUCK AT 120. I HAVE LOOKED IN SEVERAL DIFFERENT WEBSITES (EDMUNDS.COM) REGARDING THIS ISSUE AN WAS VERY SURPRISED TO SEE THAT THERE ARE MANY PEOPLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM AND FRUSTRATED THAT CHEVY WON'T FIX THE PROBLEM. THERE IS AN OBVIOUS MALFUNCTION AND IT SHOULD BE REPLACED AT THERE COST NOT THE CONSUMERS. MY VEHICLE HAS ONLY 57000 MILES AND THIS SHOULD NOT BE OCCURRING. I ALSO HAVE A 1994 CHEVY TRUCK AND IT HAS NEVER EXPERIENCED PROBLEM LIKE THIS. I REALLY HOPE SOMEONE CAN HELP WITH THIS PROBLEM. *TR
I HAVE A 2005 1500 CHEVY SUBURBAN THAT THE SPEEDOMETER READS ERRATIC. IT GOES 120+ WHILE AT A RED LIGHT OR 25 CRUISING DOWN THE INTERSTATE. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR ABOUT 5 MONTHS NOW. I TALK TO THE DEALERS AND THEY SAY THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO THAT I WILL HAVE TO PAY THE 600-900 DOLLARS FOR THE REPAIRS. TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED WITH A REBUILT TRANSMISSION @ 51,100 MILES. CHILDREN AND OTHER PASSENGERS WERE STRANDED IN PA @ 12:00 AM. *TR
TRANSMISSION FAILURE. AS I BEGAN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP, IN ORDER TO MAKE A LEFT TURN ACROSS OPPOSING TRAFFIC LANES, I HAD A COMPLETE FAILURE OF FORWARD MOMENTUM. THE VEHICLE BEHIND ME NARROWLY MISSED A REAR END ACCIDENT AND OPPOSING TRAFFIC WAS FORCED TO QUICKLY STOP AS I WAS LEFT BLOCKING THEIR TRAFFIC LANE. VEHICLE STILL UNDER WARRANTY WITH 25,122 MILES. DEALER REPAIRED TRANSMISSION AND IDENTIFIED "SPRAG GEAR FOUND DAMAGED ... CLUTCHES ALSO BURNT REPLACED AS NEEDED...". POSSIBLE TSBS 08-07-30-027. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN 1500. UPON PURCHASING THE VEHICLE IN OCTOBER OF 2008, THE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE DEALER FAILED TO REPAIR THE AIR BAGS AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE. THE CONTACT COULD NOT HAVE THE VEHICLE REGISTERED IN THE STATE OF TEXAS WITH THE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. I HAVE A 2005 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN. THE SPEEDOMETER HAS BEEN GOING OUT FOR SOME TIME. IT WILL EITHER NOT REGISTER OR REGISTER OFF SO THAT THE PERSON DRIVING HAS NO IDEA OF SPEED. I HAVE CONTACTED CHEVY AND MY DEALER AND HAVE BEEN INFORMED THAT CHEVY KNOWS OF THE ISSUE BUT WILL ONLY COVER REPLACEMENT THROUGH MODEL YEAR 2004. THERE IS A CLASS ACTION SUIT TO TRY TO FORCE COVERAGE OF ADDITIONAL YEARS. *TR
I HAVE A 2005 CHEVY SUBURBAN WITH ABOUT 55,000 MILES ON IT. FOR THE PAST 6-8 MONTHS, MY SPEEDOMETER AND OTHER GAUGES (OIL, ETC.) WILL STICK CAUSING INACCURATE READINGS. AT TIMES MY SPEEDOMETER IS ABOUT 30 MPH OFF FROM THE REAL SPEED, AND FOR THE MONTHS THE OIL GAUGE HAS READ OFF THE CHARTS. *TR
I RECEIVED A LETTER STATING THAT THE SPEEDOMETER OF MY MODEL VEHICLE HAD A RECALL (2005 SUBURBAN). ROLLOVER ACCIDENT OF 2005 CHEVY SUBURBAN. RIGHT REAR TIRE SEPARATED TREAD AT HIGHWAY SPEED. TIRES WERE BIG O PATHMAX LT245/75R16. TIRES HAD 10,465 MILES OF USE AT TIME OF ACCIDENT. THE TREAD ON REMAINING INFLATED TIRES SHOWED BELTS BETWEEN TREAD EVEN THOUGH THE TREAD ITSELF LOOKED OK. DRIVER WAS INJURED, VEHICLE WAS TOTALED. *TR
2005 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN 48,500 MILES SPEEDOMETER QUIT WORKING FROM WHAT I HAVE READ ONLINE THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH MANY 2005 CHEVY VEHICLES. *TR
I OWN A 2005 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN, THE REAR LIFT GATE HAS A WINDOW THAT IS INCORPORATED INTO THE LIFT GATE AND CAN BE OPENED INDEPENDENTLY THERE ARE PLASTIC HINGES ATTACHING THE GLASS TO THE LIFT GATE AND ONE OF THE TWO HINGES FAILED AND IS BROKEN. I HAVE SEARCHED THE FORUMS ON THIS ISSUE AND IT APPEARS TO BE WIDESPREAD AND CHEVROLET WANTS $1000.00 TO REPLACE THE GLASS WITH THE DEFECTIVE HINGE. *TR
I HAVE A 2005 CHEVY SUBURBAN. AT A LITTLE OVER 49,000 MILES MY SPEEDOMETER NEEDLE BEGAN TO REPORT INACCURATE READINGS WHILE THE TRUCK WAS IN MOTION. AFTER A COUPLE OF DAYS THE NEEDLE FELL ALL THE WAY TO THE RIGHT OF THE PANEL AND WOULDN'T MOVE. AFTER GETTING QUOTE FROM THE DEALERSHIP TO REPLACE NEW AND CHECKING WITH SOME AREA JUNK YARDS I LEARNED THERE WERE POSSIBLE RECALLS ON OTHER CHEVY TRUCKS AND SUV'S. ONCE I CHECK ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND NUMEROUS PEOPLE EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM. ON TONIGHT I CALLED AND LEARNED THAT THE 2004 SUBURBAN HAS A RECALL BUT NOT THE 2005 SO I OPENED A CASE WITH CHEVEROLET CONSUMER ASSISTANCE TO SEE ABOUT GETTING MY TRUCK FIXED AS I CAN'T AFFORD $500 TO FIX A MECHANICAL DEFECT WHICH SHOULD BE COVERED CHEVROLET EXPENSE AND NOT THE CONSUMER. I'M NOW DRIVING AROUND NOT KNOWING WHAT SPEED I'M DRIVING AND RISKING GETTING A SPEEDING TICKET WHICH IS ANOTHER EXPENSE. I'M A SINGLE MOTHER WITH 2 KIDS AND THIS IS MY ONLY MEANS OF TRANSPORTATION.
THE TRACTION CONTROL ACTIVATES ITSELF ON MY VEHICLE EVEN WHEN ON DRY PAVEMENT WITH VERY CONSERVATIVE DRIVING. WHEN TURNING OR ENTERING OUT INTO TRAFFIC SUDDENLY THE SYSTEM WILL ENGAGE AND POWER DOWN THE VEHICLE TO A CREEP. IT THEN RE-SETS ITSELF AFTER 2-5 SECONDS. HOWEVER, WHILE ENGAGED I AM RENDERED HELPLESS AND A SITTING DUCK TO THE UPCOMING TRAFFIC. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT WHEN IT BECOMES MORE FREQUENT (HOPEFULLY MY FAMILY AND I WON'T BE KILLED BEFORE THEN) THAT IT MIGHT SHOW A CODE SO THAT THEY WILL KNOW WHAT TO DO. IN THE MEAN TIME I AM TOLD THEY HAVE NO IDEA. (2005 SUBURBAN 1500 LT AUTORIDE). *TR
I HAVE A COMPLAINT ABOUT THERE NOT BEING A RECALL ON MY 2005 CHEVY SUBURBAN ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS. SOMETIME EARLIER THIS YEAR MY SPEEDOMETER STARTED JUMPING TO HIGHER SPEEDS AS I WAS DRIVING AND THEN GOT TO THE POINT IT WAS GOING ALL THE WAY PAST 120MPH. SOMETIMES IT WOULD RESET TO 0 AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF. MOST RECENTLY IT HAS GONE PAST 120 AND WILL NOT RETURN TO THE NORMAL FUNCTIONS IT SHOULD HAVE. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS NOT TO KNOW HOW FAST YOU ARE GOING, HOWEVER, LIKE EVERYONE ELSE I CANNOT AFFORD THE $400-$600 TO PAY FOR SOMETHING THAT IS A MANUFACTURES DEFECT OBVIOUSLY! WITH SO MANY COMPLAINTS LISTED EXACTLY THE SAME ON THIS SITE, IT HAS TO BE A MANUFACTURES DEFECT. BESIDES THE SPEEDOMETER NOT WORKING PROPERLY, ALL THE INSTRUMENT LIGHTS ARE STARTING TO GO OUT OR NOT WORK. SUCH AS THE RADIO ON/OFF SWITCH NO LONGER LIGHTS UP. SOME OF THE OTHER RADIO LIGHTS DO NOT LIGHT UP. ON THE STEERING WHEEL, SOME OF THE CONTROLS DO NOT LIGHT UP. I CANNOT BELIEVE THAT I HAVE RECEIVED A LETTER LETTING ME KNOW OTHERS ARE ALSO EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS WITH THEIR CHEVY VEHICLES AND THEY HAVE STARTED A LAW SUITE. MY VEHICLE IS A 2005 MODEL, BUT SINCE I BOUGHT IT IN MARCH 2005, SO IT MUST HAVE BEEN MANUFACTURED BEFORE JAN 2005. THE LETTER SAYS IT COVERS UP TO 2004 MODELS AND MAY LATER INCLUDE THE 2005 MODELS. AS I SEE IT MINE IS DOING EXACTLY THE SAME AS EVERYONE ELSE AND NOTHING IS BEING DONE. COULD SOMEONE EXPLAIN WHAT HAPPENS NEXT? AND WHEN WILL CHEVY BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL THESE COMPLAINTS? *TR
THE SPEEDOMETER ON MY 2005 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN AT 50K MILES WITHOUT WARNING STARTED TO INDICATE INCORRECT SPEEDS. THE SPEED READINGS INITIALLY WERE SLOWER THAN MY ACTUAL SPEED AND LATER AS THE PROBLEM PROGRESSED MUCH HIGHER. THE INITIAL INCORRECT SPEEDS WERE ONLY NOTICED AFTER FRIENDS FOLLOWING ME QUESTIONED MY HIGH RATE OF SPEED. MY WIFE DRIVES MY 4 CHILDREN AROUND IN THIS VEHICLE. *TR

MY SPEEDOMETER ON MY 2005 CHEVY SUBURBAN WENT OUT AND THE DEALER SAY IT WOULD CAUSE $500 DOLLARS TO REPLACE IT I THOUGHT THAT WAS RIDICULOUS I WENT ON LINE AND SEEN THAT OTHER PEOPLE WAS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THEIR GMC VEHICLES THERE ALL TO BE A RECALL ON THE SPEEDOMETER GMC IS GETTING A BAD REPUTATION. *TR
WHILE DRIVING THE SPEEDOMETER BEGAN TO GIVE ERRATIC READINGS, THE NEEDLE BOUNCED AROUND AND GAVE INACCURATE INFORMATION. THIS INITIAL PROBLEM SEEMED TO RESOLVE ITSELF WHEN I STOPPED AND TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND THEN RESTARTED IT. SINCE THE INITIAL INCIDENT THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN SPORADIC BUT BECOMING MORE FREQUENT. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY SCHEDULED FOR SERVICE. *TR
SMELLED FUEL LOOKED UNDER VEHICLE AND FUEL WAS SPRAYING OUT OF FUEL HOSE. IMMEDIATELY DROVE TO DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT TO BE LOOKED AT. ON THE WAY THE VEHICLE LOST ALMOST ALL REMAINING FUEL. DEALER IS REPLACING PARTS AT A GREAT EXPENSE. *TR

I HAVE A 2005 CHEVY SUBURBAN 4X4 AND WITHIN THE FIRST 14,000 MILES IT HAS STARTED TO ENGAGE INTO 4W LO WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY, IN REVERSE, GOING 25 MPH IN RESIDENTIAL NEIGHBORHOOD(THIS IS A GEAR THAT YOU CANNOT DRIVE OVER 15MPH IN). NEEDLESS TO SAY THAT SHELLWORTH CHEVROLET LOCATED IN VACAVILLE, CA HAS BEEN TRYING TO FIX THE PROBLEM FOR OVER 25,000 MILES AND OVER 6 TIMES IN THE SHOP. THEY HAVE BEEN UNSUCCESSFUL WITH THE LAST TIME IT WAS IN THE SHOP UNWILLING TO DO ANYTHING FOR ME. IT HAS EVEN BEEN TOWED INTO THEIR SHOP ON ONE OCCASION. THEY NO LONGER WANT TO PROVIDE ME WITH SERVICE, TOLD ME TO FILE A COMPLAINT WITH GM FOR A BUYBACK PURCHASE AND SHOED ME OFF. GM SAYS IT IS NOT ELIGIBLE FOR THE BUYBACK PROGRAM PROBABLY BECAUSE OF ALL THE FALSE AND INACCURATE INFORMATION THE SERVICE WRITERS HAVE DOCUMENTED ON THE WORK ORDERS. I HAVE ASKED TO SPEAK TO GM DISTRICT MANAGER WHO HAS MADE THIS DECISION AND HE HAS DECLINED TO SPEAK TO ME, AS WELL AS THE SERVICE MANAGER AT SHELLWORTH HAS NOT RETURNED MY LAST 2 PHONE CALLS. THE LAW STATES THAT THEY EITHER FIX MY VEHICLE TO A WORKING ORDER OR GIVE ME A REPLACEMENT VEHICLE. THEY ARE NOT DOING EITHER. ON OCT. 31 AFTER ARGUING WITH THEM BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T WANT TO HANDLE THE ISSUE THAT TIME EITHER THEY DECIDED TO GO LOOK AT A DIFFERENT BULLETIN AND FOUND SOMETHING, SO THEY REPLACED SOME PARTS AND RELEASED THE VEHICLE TO ME. SINCE THEN THE LIGHT HAS CAME ON 2 TIMES WHICH IS THE START OF THE PROCESS IN WHICH IT THEN ENGAGES TO 4W LO ALL BY ITSELF. *TR
SPEEDOMETER WOULD GO UP WHEN I INCREASED SPEED BUT WOULD NOT GO BACK DOWN WHEN THE VEHICLE SLOWED DOWN. I WAS ABLE TO GET THE SPEEDOMETER TO RESET TO ZERO BY REPEATEDLY STARTING AND TURNING OFF THE VEHICLE. OVER THE COURSE OF THE NEXT MONTH THE NEEDLE WOULD DO THE SAME THING. I COULD RESET IT THE SAME WAY. AS OF NOW ITS PEGGED AT THE BOTTOM AND I CANNOT RESET IT. *TR

CONSEQUENCES COULD HAVE RESULTED IN A LOSS OF STEERING. CHEVROLET SERVICE LUBED THE STEERING SHAFT PER A GM SERVICE BULLETIN. THIS REPAIR WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. APPROXIMATELY ONE YEAR LATER, THE SAME FAILURE OCCURRED. CHEVROLET SERVICE STATED THAT GM HAS DEVELOPED A NEW STEERING SHAFT TO ELIMINATE THIS PROBLEM. SPEEDOMETER WAS TICKING UP AND DOWN RATHER THAN SMOOTHLY INCREASING AND DECREASING. WE USED CRUISE CONTROL WHEN ON A TRIP AND THEN THE SPEEDOMETER STARTED MALFUNCTIONING. SINCE THIS OCCURRED, THE SPEEDOMETER HAS BEEN STUCK PAST 120 MPH ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS WHEN WE WERE GOING ABOUT 30. THIS IS CERTAINLY A SAFETY HAZARD FOR WHICH A RECALL SHOULD BE ISSUED. THIS COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT IF IT MALFUNCTIONS WHILE YOU ARE DRIVING AND YOU ARE UNABLE TO DETERMINE HOW FAST YOU ARE GOING. YOU WOULD TEND TO DRIVE SLOWER AND YOU COULD BE REAR-ENDED BY SOMEONE ELSE WHO WAS EITHER SPEEDING OR DOING THE CORRECT SPEED LIMIT. I WAS SURPRISED TO SEE THE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND CHEVROLET HAS NOT STEPPED UP TO THE PLATE AND ACKNOWLEDGED THAT IT IS A MANUFACTURER DEFECT. I FOUND OUT ACCIDENTALLY THAT WHEN YOU START THE VEHICLE, THE SPEEDOMETER RESETS BY 5MPH. I WOULD HAVE TO START THE VEHICLE REPEATEDLY TO GET IT BACK TO ZERO. ALTHOUGH THIS IS NOT GOOD FOR THE STARTER, THIS WAS MY ONLY OPTION AT THE TIME. I JUST SAW SOMETHING ON THE INTERNET THAT SAID TO PUT THE VEHICLE IN REVERSE AND THEN TRY TO START IT. BY DOING THIS IT WOULD RESET THE SPEEDOMETER BY 5MPH EVERY TIME WITHOUT ENGAGING THE STARTER. THIS DID WORK, BUT WHEN I DROVE THE VEHICLE THE NEXT TIME, THE SPEEDOMETER DID NOT WORK AT ALL. I TRIED RESETTING THE SPEEDOMETER AGAIN BY PUTTING IT IN PARK AND STARTING, BUT TO NO AVAIL. AFTER TRYING MANY MORE TIMES TO RESET BY STARTING THE VEHICLE, THE SPEEDOMETER STARTED TO WORK. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE AT EVERY LEVEL. THE CONSUMER SHOULD NOT HAVE TO BEG AND PLEAD TO GET A MANUFACTURER DEFECT FIXED.
