TAKATA RECALL THIS AIRBAG RECALL IS TAKING A LONG TIME TO GET FINALIZED WITH GM AND THE NHTSA AND I AM GETTING CONCERNED THAT IF I WERE TO GET INTO A WRECK, WILL THE AIRBAG PERFORM AS IT SHOULD OR IS THERE A PROBLEM WITH MY AIRBAG. ANY IDEA WHEN GM WILL GET THE INFO BACK FROM NHTSA TO KNOW IF THERE WILL BE A RECALL FOR FREE ON THESE AIRBAGS?

THE DASH HAS CRACKED IN MULTIPLE PLACES, NOTABLY AROUND THE PASSENGER AIR BAG. THE LARGER DASH PANEL WAS REPLACED BY THE DEALER BUT HAS CRACKED AGAIN, TWICE. THE SMALLER, FORWARD DASH PANEL IS ALSO NOW CRACKED. THE DEALER HAS REFUSED ASSISTANCE. ALL CRACKS OCCURRED WHILE STATIONARY. THIS VEHICLE IS GARAGED.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO START THE VEHICLE, IT BEGAN TO SHAKE AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SLOW DOWN AND THE REDUCED ENGINE POWER INDICATOR ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. AS A RESULT OF THE FAILURE, THE VEHICLE WAS ALMOST T-BONED BY A TRACTOR TRAILER. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE MANEUVERED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WHERE IT WAS RESTARTED SUCCESSFULLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY AND THE BRAKE SWITCH WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE WIRING TO THE ECM CONNECTOR 2 AND WIRING HARNESS NEEDED TO BE CHANGED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED SHORTLY AFTER THE REPAIR FROM THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 67,200.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH AND APPROACHING AN INTERSECTION, ANOTHER VEHICLE DRIVING AT HIGH SPEEDS CRASHED INTO THE DRIVER'S SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY WITH THE SIGNIFICANT IMPACT. THE DRIVER STRUCK HER HEAD ON THE WINDSHIELD AND SUSTAINED A BRUISE TO THE HEAD AND NECK PAIN. THE REAR DRIVER SEAT OCCUPANT SUFFERED FROM A HEAD CONCUSSION. ADDITIONAL MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS NOT REQUIRED FOR THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.

CRACKED DASH ABOVE THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND AT THE TOP OF THE PASSENGER AIRBAG COMPARTMENT. FRONT IMPACT COLLISION COULD CAUSE PIECES OF DASH TO PUNCTURE AIRBAG OR INJURE PASSENGERS.
2 NOTICEABLE CRACKS ON THE DASHBOARD, ONE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE NEAR THE CORNER OF THE AIRBAG AND THE OTHER IN THE DRIVER SIDE IN FRONT OF THE STEERING WHEEL
THE DASHBOARD OF THE VEHICLE IS CRACKING ESPECIALLY IN THE AREA OF THE AIR BAG AND ALONG THE VEHICLE CLUSTER .CONCERN IF THE VEHICLE IS INVOLVED IN A COLLISION WHERE AIR BAG IS DEPLOYED AND THE DASHBOARD CREATES FLYING PROJECTILES
3 DOOR LATCHES HAVE STOPPED WORKING AND WILL NOT ALLOW THE DOOR TO STAY SHUT. THIS CAN OBVIOUSLY BE VERY DANGEROUS IF THEY WERE TO GIVE OUT WHEN DRIVING AND IT SEEMS TO BE A VERY COMMON PROBLEM FROM WHAT I HAVE HEARD.

REGARDING THE DASH BOARD OF MY 2007 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN. THE DASH BOARD HAS COMPLETELY FALLEN APART. I DON'T KNOW IF IT IS THE SUN OR SOME OTHER ISSUE SUCH AS MATERIAL, WORKMANSHIP?
I PURCHASED MY CHEVY SUBURBAN AND NOTICE A SMALL CRACK ON MY DASHBOARD. AFTER ONLY A FEW MONTHS AFTER PURCHASED I NOTICE THE SAME CRACK ON MY DASHBOARD EXTENDING TOWARD THE AIRBAG AND DOWN TO THE INSTRUMENT PANEL . TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN. THE CONTACT NOTICED A THIRD CRACK ON THE DASHBOARD BY THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG. THE CRACK MADE THE AIR COME OUT OF THE VENT HIGHER THAN THE REST OF THE DASHBOARD. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 137,904.
THE ODOMETER INSTRUMENT CLUSTER WENT OUT ON MY 2007 SUBURBAN AND THE RADIO IS CHANGING STATIONS ON ITS OWN. ALSO THE METAL TRIM ON MY DOOR HANDLES AND HEATING/AC CONTROLS IS PEELING APART AND CUTTING MY HANDS. IN ADDITION, THE ENGINE BURNS OIL AND I HAVE CHECKED IT OUT BY THREE DIFFERENT DEALERS/MECHANICS AND THEY CANNOT FIND ANY LEAKS. I HAVE SEEN A LOT OF SIMILAR COMPLAINTS AND I BELIEVE CHEVY SHOULD REPAIR THESE ITEMS AT NO COST TO OWNERS.
THE CHROME ON THE DOOR HANDLES, ALL 4 OF THEM, ARE PEELING, WHERE THE CHROME WILL ACTUALLY SLICE YOUR SKIN ON YOUR FINGERS AND MAKE YOU BLEED.
I NOTICED LAST YEAR THAT MY DRIVER SIDE DASH HAD A CRACK BETWEEN THE WINDSHIELD AND THE STEERING WHEEL AND AT FIRST WAS SHOCKED AS I THOUGHT I WAS SEEING THINGS BUT INFACT IT WAS CRACKED. I CONTACTED MY CAR DETAILER AND ASKED IF HE NOTICED IT AND HE TOLD ME HE SEES THIS IN MANY SUBURBAN'S AND ESCALADES THAT HE DETAILS AND THOUGHT I WAS AWARE OF IT AND WOULD CONTACT THE DEALERSHIP! I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP THAT SAID IT WAS NOT COMMON AND ASKED IF I USE A SUN SHADE BEING THAT IT'S SO HOT IN SOUTH FLORIDA & I TOLD THEM I ALWAYS DO AND I HAVE A 1996 ISUZU TROOPER AND I DON'T HAVE ANY CRACKS IN MY DASH. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. I RECENTLY RECIEVED A RECALL LETTER STATING MY VEHICLE HAD AN AIRBAG RECALL AND WHEN I WENT ONLINE TO CHECK THE STATUS I SAW ALL THESE COMPLAINTS ABOUT OWNERS OF CHEVY SUBURBAN'S WITH DASHBOARDS CRACKING. I WAS ON LUNCH BREAK TODAY AND WHEN I GOT IN MY TRUCK I WANTED TO TAKE A CLOSER LOOK AT THE AIRBAG COMPARTMENT AND TO MY DISBELIEF, THE PASSANGER SIDE DASH ALSO HAD A CRACK IN IT NOW AND IN THE EXACT SAME SPOT AS ALL THE OTHER COMPLAINTS JUST ABOVE THE PASSANGER SIDE AIRBAG COMPARTMENT AND SAME AREA ON THE DRIVERS SIDE. BEING THAT BOTH SUBURBAN'S & ESCALADES ARE MANUFACTURED BY GM, I NOW KNOW THERE'S A SERIOUS PROBLEM AND GM NEEDS TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS DEFECT FOR THE AMOUNT OF MONEY THESE VEHICLES COST!!! ( $72,000.00 WAS WHAT MY SOUTHERN COMFORT CUSTOM SUBURBAN COST ME.) SO GM WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO ABOUT THESE ONGOING ISSUES WITH CRACKING DASBOARDS/AIRBAGS??? THIS IS JUST THE BEGINING OF MY FIGHT ON THIS PROBLEM THAT SHOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED. AND I SEE I'M JUST ONE OF MANY COMPLAINTS WITH THIS PROBLEM.
I PURCHASED MY 2007 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN BRAND NEW IN 2007. I THINK THE MILEAGE IS SOMEWHERE AROUND 150,000 BUT NOT SURE BECAUSE THE ODOMETER CLUSTER WENT OUT ON THE VEHICLE SEVERAL YEARS AGO. ALSO, MY DOOR HANDLES ARE STARTING TO PEEL APART WHICH ARE CUTTING MY HANDS AND MY CHILDREN'S HANDS. ONE INCIDENT IT SLICED MY HAND OPEN VERY SIMILAR SEVER PAPER CUT BUT WORSE. THE HANDLES WERE ALREADY REPLACED ONCE ON MY SUBURBAN BACK IN 2009 BY GM AND AT GM'S COST. THE MAIN ISSUE ABOUT THIS EMAIL IS THE SEATBELTS AND THE DASHBOARD. THERE ARE FOUR PASSENGER SEATBELTS THAT DO NOT WORK HARDLY AT ALL. SOMETIMES THEY WILL SNAP IN/BUCKLE AND THERE ARE A LOT OF TIMES THAT THEY DO NOT. THE CRACK IN MY DASHBOARD IS RIGHT NEXT TO THE AIRBAG. IT REALLY CONCERNS ME AS FAR AS BEING A SAFETY ISSUE. I DO HAVE FIVE SMALL CHILDREN THAT ARE CONSTANTLY WITH ME IN MY CAR. I JUST WANT THIS DASHED FIXED AT NO CHARGE BEING THAT IT IS A DEFECT. I HAVE SIGNED A PETITION WITH THOUSANDS OF OTHER GM OWNERS WITH THE SAME EXACT ISSUE....CRACKED DASHBOARD AND MOST OF THEM IN THE SAME EXACT PLACE. . I'M JUST ASKING FOR THIS TO BE REPLACED AND CORRECTED.
