THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V381000 (AIR BAGS) HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE RECALL REPAIR WAS NOT YET AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT CALLED GIANT CHEVROLET OF VISALIA LOCATED AT 1001 S BEN MADDOX WAY, VISALIA, CA 93292, (559) 733-1100, AND IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT PARTS WERE NOT YET AVAILABLE FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
TAKATA RECALL MY AIRBAGS STILL HAVE NOT BEEN REPLACED RECEIVED A LETTER BACK IN 2016
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE LOST POWER AND THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT VARIOUS WARNING INDICATORS WERE ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MANASSAS CHEVROLET (8000 SUDLEY RD, MANASSAS, VA 20109 (703) 596-3031) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER WAS REPLACED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO LUCK CHEVROLET (516 S WASHINGTON HWY, ASHLAND, VA 23005 (804) 368-6473) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE NUMBER ONE AND SEVEN SPARK PLUGS WERE COVERED WITH OIL GUNK. THE SPARK PLUGS WERE REPLACED. THE DEALER ALSO STATED THAT THE MOTOR IN THE VEHICLE WAS BURNING OIL AND CONTINUOUSLY CAUSED THE NUMBER ONE AND 7 SPARK PLUGS TO FAIL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WOULD RECUR EVERY 3-4 MONTHS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.

TAKATA RECALL, I HAVE NOW RECEIVED THREE ANNUAL NOTICES OF THE RECALL FOR THE KILLER AIRBAG IN MY VEHICLE. TO DATE, I HAVE RECEIVED NO NOTICE OF REPAIR PARTS BEING MADE AVAILABLE. THIS IS AN UNREASONABLE DELAY IN THE REPAIR TO MY VEHICLE PUTTING MYSELF AND MY FAMILY AT RISK OF INJURY OR EVEN DEATH. THREE YEARS IS FAR TOO LONG TO STILL NOT HAVE MY VEHICLE REPAIRED. I AM DEMADING THAT GM BE FORCED TO EITHER REPAIR THE VEHICLE NOW OR BUY IT BACK AT A FAIR MARKET VALUE IF THEY ARE UNABLE TO MAKE REPAIRS WITHIN THE NEXT 20 CALENDAR DAYS BEGINNING 09/06/2018. NO ONE SHOULD HAVE TO LIVE "OR DIE" WAITING YEARS TO GET AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS RECALL COMPLETED. IT IS TIME FOR ACTION NOW. NO MORE EXCUSES.
DASH BOARD CRACKING AND SPLITTING APART IN MULTIPLE LOCATIONS// IT STARTED OFF SMALL, AND IS CONTINUING HEADING FOR THE GAUGE CLUSTER.~~~ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE IT HAS COMPLETED A SPLIT FROM THE DEFROSTER DUCTING TO THE PASSENGER FRONT AIR BAG COVER.
TAKATA INFLATORS. HAVE WAITED FOR OVER 1 AND 1/2 YEARS FOR THIS RECALL TO BE COMPLETED. IF THEY CAN'T FIX THE VEHICLE THEY NEED TO REPLACE IT. JUST WANT VEHICLE REPAIRED OR REPLACED.
HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR PARTS SINCE MAY 2016. I WOULD LIKE THIS PROBLEM TO BE TAKEN CARE OF IN A TIMELY MANNER AND IT HAS NOT BEEN.

THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTIFICATION IN MAY OF 2016. THE DEALER (HAWK CHEVROLET OF JULIET, 2001 JEFFERSON ST, JOLIET, IL 60435) STATED THAT THE PARTS WERE UNAVAILABLE FOR THE REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
THE PASSENGER AIRBAG ON THE UPPER LEFT CORNER HAS A CRACK ON THE DASHBOARD COMPARTMENT. I NOTICED IT THIS PAST WEEKEND & IT CONCERNS ME SINCE IT IS WHERE THE AIRBAG IS. I RESEARCHED THIS AND FOUND MANY OTHER TRUCKS BY GM HAVE THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM... GM NEEDS TO RECALL THESE VEHICLES DUE TO THIS PROBLEM WHERE THE AIRBAG MAY BE AFFECTED.
NTSB: 2008 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN: CONSUMER STATED THERE WERE CRACKS IN THE DASHBOARD. *SS
THE ENGINE HAS A DESIGN FLAW AND CONSUMES OIL RAPIDLY, LOSES OIL AND DETERIORATES INTERNAL PARTS OF MOTOR CAUSING TOTAL ENGINE REPLACEMENT OR REPAIR. THIS MOTOR IS CURRENTLY APART OF A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT BUT THE LAWSUIT IS ONLY FOR THIS ENGINE IN THE 2010-2013 VEHICLES. THIS MOTOR HOWEVER HAS BEEN IN GM VEHICLE SINCE 2007 AND I ASSUME THAT THE COMPANY WITHHELD THIS INFORMATION FROM CONSUMERS AND PUBLIC JUST AS THEY DID IN 2010. I BELIEVE THAT GM SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DESIGN FLAW OF MOTOR IN ALL VEHICLES THAT INCLUDED THE ENGINE. PERSONALLY I HAD TO REPLACE MY MOTOR FOR EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION AT THE COST OF $7,712.13 WHICH INCLUDED TAXES. THEN, OF COURSE, THE MOTOR YOU PUT IN INHERENTLY HAS THE SAME ISSUE AND ITS JUST A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE IT FAILS DUE TO EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION. THE LAWSUIT IS GOING TO BE FILED FOR 2010-2013 MODELS I THINK THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL AND I WOULD LIKE TO SEE PRESSURE TO INCLUDE EARLIER MODELS WITH THE EXACT SAME MOTOR.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN 1500. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, ALL THE WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT KEPT FLASHING. THE BRAKING ABILITY SEIZED. THE CONTACT HAD TO MANEUVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER CONTROL MODULE SYSTEM MALFUNCTIONED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS INVALID. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000.
I'M AM BRINGING UP A SAFETY CONCERN IN MY VEHICLE PERTAINING TO THE AIRBAGS IN THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. I OWN A 2008 SUBURBAN AND RECENTLY THE DASH BOARD HAS CRACKED RIGHT NEAR THE PASSENGER AIR BAG. I HAVE CALLED THE CHEVROLET CORPORATE TO VOICE MY CONCERNS AND I HAVE BEEN TOLD THE VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY SO THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. I AM REALLY CONCERNED IF MY FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAGS EVER DEPLOYS IT WILL CAUSE THE DASH BOARD TO BECOME A PROJECTILE. I BELIEVE THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN AND THIS IS THE SECOND CHEVROLET THAT I HAVE OWNED THAT HAS THE SAME PROBLEM IN THE SAME PLACE. THE FIRST VEHICLE WAS A 07 CHEVROLET TAHOE, WHICH CHEVROLET/GM FULLY REPAIRED. I HAD TO TRADE MY 07 TAHOE BECAUSE MY FAMILY GOT BIGGER AND GOT THE SUBURBAN NOW IT HAS DONE THE SAME THING. I AM REALLY CONCERNED FOR THE SAFETY OF MY FAMILY AND OTHER FAMILY'S WHO OWN A CHEVROLET WITH THIS SAME PROBLEM.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE AND VIN WERE UNKNOWN.
2008 SUBURBAN 135K. VEHICLE HAS BEEN RUNNING WELL, ALL ROUTINE MAINTENANCE WAS DONE. WITHOUT ANY WARNING THE VEHICLE WAS 3 QUARTS LOW ON OIL. DEALER CHECKED ENGINE TOLD NEW ENGINE NEEDED. I WAS TOLD A COMMON PROBLEM FURTHER INVESTIGATION I NOTED FAR TO MANY SIMILAR COMPLAINTS. THIS SEEMS TO BE A DEFECT IN ENGINE DESIGN. IT SHOULD NOT REQUIRE DEATHS BEFORE THIS ISSUE IS INVESTIGATED. LIKE SO MANY OTHERS REPAIR COST IS AN UNEXPECTED BURDEN. GM RESPONSE THE VEHICLE HIGH MILEAGE AND AGE ARE A FACTOR. THIS PROBLEM HAS AFFECTED VEHICLES WITH A RANG OF MILES. GM SHOULD RECALL THE 5.3L ENGINE AND REPAIR THE DEFECT. THE FIRST ISSUE WITH VEHICLE I WAS DRIVING ON HIGHWAY THE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO LOOK INTO THIS ISSUE. GM HAS INDICATED 2 QUARTS OF OIL BEING BURNED IN 3000 MILES IS NORMAL. PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO LOOK INTO THE MATTER. GM SHOULDN'T BE THE ONLY BAIL OUT. NO PRIOR WARNING WAS GIVEN, NO WARNING LIGHTS OR LOW OIL INDICATION , NO LEAKS.
THIS STARTED AS I WAS DRIVING DOWN INTERSTATE AT 65 MPH. SUDDENLY MY TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT ON DASH CAME ON ALONG WITH BLINKING CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. ALSO READ STABILITRAK OFF AND SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL IN READOUT BELOW. IMMEDIATELY MY TRUCK LOST POWER AND DECELERATED SO I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OFF ROAD AS TO NOT GET RAN OVER BY TRAFFIC. READ MANUAL SAID TO TURN OFF AND RESTART. DID THIS AND ALL WAS GOOD FOR ANOTHER MILE THEN HAPPENED AGAIN ON AND OFF FOR LAST 12 MILES BEFORE I COULD GET HOME. UPON TAKING IT TO DEALERSHIP TODAY THEY CAME BACK SAYING NOTHING ABOUT THESE CODES BUT THAT THERE WAS A MISFIRE CODE AND OIL LOW?? SO NOW I HAVE GOT AN OIL CHANGE AND FUEL SYSTEM CLEANING. UPON ASKING ABOUT THE INITIAL PROBLEM I WAS TOLD TO DRIVE IT TO SEE IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN. THIS IS A MAJOR ISSUE WITH APPARENTLY THE WHOLE TRUCK PLATFORM AT GM. THIS PROBLEM IS POSTED ALL OVER INTERNET WITH CARS EVEN SHUTTING OFF AND BRAKES LOCKING UP AND THE BIG PROBLEM IS NO DEALERSHIP KNOWS HOW TO FIX IT. CHARGE PEOPLE A BUNCH OF MONEY TO FIX NUMEROUS THINGS THEY KNOW WILL NOT FIX ISSUE. THIS SHOULD BE A MAJOR RECALL ON 2007- AT LEAST 2010 FROM WHAT I CAN SEE FROM DATA THAT IS OUT THERE. I WILL BE SELLING MY TRUCK AFTER THIS BECAUSE I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING MY KIDS IN IT. I'M DIE HARD CHEVY GUY WHO HAS A 2003 SUBURBAN WITH 400000+ MILES ON IT WITH VERY LITTLE ISSUES IN ALL THESE YEARS. PLEASE MAKE GM FIX THIS PROBLEM.
FRONT AIR BAG SENSORS ALWAYS GOING BAD. SENSORS ARE ON BACKORDER; THIS TELLS ME OTHER PEOPLE ARE HAVING THIS PROBLEM TOO. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN. HAVE A 2001 FORD ESCAPE (15 YEARS OLD). HAVE NEVER REPLACED A AIRBAG SENSOR.

DASH HAS BEEN REPLACED IN 2010 AND IS NOW CRACKED IN SEVERAL SPOTS INCLUDING AREA AROUND THE PASSENGER AIRBAG.
DASH BOARD CRACK OVER PASSANGER SIDE OF AUTO
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, THE CONTACT'S WIFE PROCEEDED TO OPEN THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR FROM THE INSIDE. THE CHROME PAINT ON THE DOOR HANDLE FRACTURED AND CUT HER HAND. NO MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS REQUIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 137,000.......UPDATED 12/30/15 *BF THE CONSUMER STATED AN EXTERIOR DOOR HANDLE, THAT BROKE OFF, HAD TO BE REPLACED. THROUGH RESEACHTHE CONTACT DISCOVERED CHROME PEELING OFF OF THE INTERIOR DOOR CAUSING THE PASSENGER OR DRIVER TO CUT HIS OR HER HAND. UPDATED 2/23/2016*JS *CN
CRACKED DASHBOARD IS DANGEROUS IN AN ACCIDENT.
MY DASHBOARD CAP IS CRACKED ON THE DRIVERS SIDE JUST ON THE LEFT CORNER OF THE DOME AND ALSO ON THE PASSENGER SIDE NEAR THE AIRBAG. I AM CONCERNED THE AIRBAGS MAY NOT DEPLOY CORRECTLY OR THE DASH MAY BREAK FREE AND MY VISIBILITY WILL BE COMPROMISED.
MY DASHBOARD HAS CRACKED AT THE CORNER OF THE PASSENGER AIR BAG AND ABOVE THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER
ENGINE LIFTERS STARTED TAPPING THEN STUCK THEN WERE MUSHROOMED BY CAM SHAFT. HAD TO REPLACE ENGINE. COST $7,300. TOLD A VERY COMMON PROBLEM ON THIS VEHICLE.
BRAKES DO NOT CATCH EVERY TIME. HAD THEM REPLACED BUT STILL HAVE ISSUES WHERE IT SEEMS THAT WHEN YOUR PRESSING THEM TO SLOW OR STOP IT TAKES THEM A WHILE TO CATCH. SAW WHERE EARLIER MODELS HAD BRAKE LINE ISSUES.
PURCHASED THE TRUCK IN MARCH 2013 WITH APPROX 63K MILES ON IT. IN NOVEMBER 2013, STABILITRAK WARNING CAME ON. TOOK TO CHEVY DEALER WHO REPLACED SPARK PLUG AND NEW BATTERY. IN JANUARY 2015, STABILITRAK WARNING LIGHT ON AGAIN. TOOK TRUCK IMMEDIATELY TO DEALER WHO HOOKED IT UP FOR DIAGNOSIS BUT DID GET ANY RESULTS. LIGHT DID NOT COME ON AGAIN UNTIL 9/8/15 WHEN I WAS DRIVING 70 MPH ON A HIGHWAY. SERVICE STABILITRAK/SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL/ABS ALL LIT UP. STRANGE NOISE COMING FROM RIGHT FRONT TIRE AREA WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO SLOW DOWN TO PULL OFF THE HIGHWAY, HAD NO BRAKES. PEDAL LITERALLY WENT TO THE FLOOR. LUCKILY THERE WAS AN INCLINE SO MY VEHICLE SLOWED ENOUGH TO ALLOW ME TO GET OFF THE HIGHWAY. PULLED OFF ONTO AN EMERGENCY AREA JUST PAST THE TOLL BOOTHS AND HAD TO USE MY EMERGENCY BRAKE TO STOP. LUCKILY, I DIDN'T HAVE MY 4 SMALL CHILDREN WITH ME LIKE I USUALLY DO. NOW THE EXTENDED WARRANTY COMPANY IS TRYING TO DENY MY CLAIM FOR REPAIRS SAYING THAT THE RUST WAS THE CAUSE. I HAD THE VEHICLE LOOKED AT BY A CERTIFIED AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO DIDN'T NOTICE THE RUST AND I ALSO HAD THE TRUCK INSPECTED IN JULY PER MA LAW FOR SAFETY AND EMISSIONS AND THERE WAS NO MENTION OF RUST EVEN THOUGH THEY DO A PRETTY THOROUGH INSPECTION YET I, THE CONSUMER, AM AT FAULT WHEN MY WHEEL RIPS APART FROM THE HUB WHILE TRAVELING 70 MPH?!? THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A HUGE PROBLEM. PEOPLE IN THE NORTHEAST DRIVE SUVS -AND COME INTO CONTACT WITH SALT EVERY WINTER. ISN'T THAT THE POINT OF HAVING AN SUV?!?. NEVER AGAIN WILL I BUY A GM AND I WILL BE SURE TO TELL ANYONE AND EVERYONE I KNOW TO AVOID THEM AS WELL. SHAME ON GM FOR PUTTING CONSUMERS IN POTENTIALLY LIFE-THREATENING SITUATIONS BECAUSE OF THE OBVIOUS USE OF INFERIOR MATERIALS. I HOPE THE NHTSA TAKES A REALLY CLOSE LOOK AT THIS PROBLEM AND FORCE GM TO ADDRESS IT.
OWN A 2008 SUBURBAN AND HAD EXACT PROBLEM FIVE (5) TIMES AND PAID TO REPAIR (5) TIMES. WE HAVE CALLED GM CONSISTENTLY RELATIVE TO PROBLEM AND WILL NOT ADMIT ISSUE. WE HAVE LEARNED OTHER OWNERS HAVING SIMILAR ISSUES WITH STABILLITRAK SENSORS. THE VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY DROPS SPEED TO 20 MILES AN HOUR DURING DRIVING. MY UNDERSTANDING, THE VEHICLE RECEIVES SENOR READING RELATIVE TO STERRING AND STABILITY (POTENTIAL FOR VEHICLE TO SPIN OUT OF CONTROL). ISSUE IS THE VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY DROPS SPEED WHICH CAN CAUSE POTENTIAL FOR SEVERE "REAR-END" ACCIDENTS. I CALLED YOUR HOTLINE "WITHOUT RETURN CALLS"!
MY 2008 SUBURBAN ABOUT 1 YEAR AGO DEVELOPED 2 CRACKS ONE ON THE DRIVER SIDE AND ONE ON THE LEFT SIDE BY THE PASSENGER AIRBAG. MY CONCERN IS IF THE AIRBAG DEPLOY'S IN AN ACCIDENT, MY ENTIRE DASH BOARD WILL BECOME SMALL PROJECTILES CAUSING INJURY TO MYSELF OR ONE OF MY KIDS. THERE ARE ALREADY CLASS ACTION SUITS ON THESE AND SEVERAL THOUSAND PEOPLE WHO HAVE COMPLAIN. I'M ASKING FOR THE NHTSA TO FORCE A RECALL BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED OVER THIS. THERE IS NO REASON TO RISKS ONE'S LIFE BECAUSE A MULITA-BILLION DOLLAR COMPANY WHO KNOWS THEY HAVE AN ISSUE WON'T TAKE CARE OF THEIR CUSTOMERS. ON JULY 7TH 2015, I WENT TO MY VEHICLE AND NOTICED A CRACK IN THE DASH ON THE DRIVERS SIDE, SUBSEQUENTLY THE PASSENGER SIDE CRACKED. I CONSIDER THIS TO BE A HAZARDOUS SITUATION BECAUSE IN THE EVENT OF AN AIRBAG RELEASE SMALL PIECES OF THE CHEAP PLASTIC USED IN THE DASH WOULD BE PROPELLED FORTH CAUSING INJURY. I NOTIFIED MY DEALERSHIP AND WAS QUOTED $1365 FOR A REPLACEMENT DASH WITH GM OFFERING A 50/50 SPLIT ON THE COST. IF YOU'RE OFFERING TO PAY PART OF THE COST IT'S BECAUSE YOU ARE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. I ALSO UNDERSTAND THAT THE REPLACEMENT DASHES ARE CRACKING ALSO. POOR QUALITY COMPONENTS MAKE A POOR QUALITY PRODUCT! MY 2008 SUBURBAN IS GARAGE KEPT WITH 58,600 MILES ON IT. I ONLY USE IT FOR VACATIONS.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000. MA 10/25/15
DASHBOARD IS CRACKED AT UPPER LEFT CORNER OF PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG LOCATION. DASHBOARD ALSO CRACKED AT TOP OF INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT MAY CAUSE PORTIONS OF DASHBOARD TO BREAK FREE.
DASHBOARD CRACKED EXPOSING ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS AND MAY BE DANGEROUS DURING AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT. IT CRACKED ON ITS OWN AND WAS UNTOUCHED.
THIS ENGINE IS BURNING 2-3 QUARTS OF OIL IN BETWEEN OIL CHANGES (CAR HAS LESS THAN 50,000 MILES ON IT). THIS IS THE ONLY CAR I HAVE HAD IN 30 YEARS THAT BURNS THIS MUCH OIL. I AM CONSTANTLY ADDING NEW OIL TO THIS ENGINE AND STILL HAVING TO CHANGE THE OIL REGULARLY IN ORDER TO STAY IN COMPLIANCE WITH THE MANUFACTURER'S WARRANTY DESPITE REFILLING HALF OF THE OIL WITH NEW OIL BETWEEN CHANGES.
"TAKATA RECALL" AIRBAG HAS CLEARLY DEPLOYED WITHIN THE DASHBOARD OF THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE. THE ENTIRE DASH ALL AROUND THE AIRBAG IS CRACKED AND BROKEN. THE AIRBAG IS SOFT IN THE AREA WHERE THERE SHOULD BE AN AIRBAG. GM IS REFUSING THAT THIS IS AN AIRBAG ISSUE BASED OFF OF PICTURES AND IS REFUSING TO INVESTIGATE FURTHER SAYING THAT IS JUST A BROKEN DASH AND I ASKED FOR AN INSPECTION WHICH THEY DENIED. I WANT TO ENSURE MY SAFETY AND PASSENGERS SAFETY SO THEREFORE WILL DISABLE THE FRONT AIRBAG AS IT MAY NOT ENGAGE OR MAY SENDS SHARDS OF PLASTIC INTO THE FACE OF MY PASSENGER IF IT IS EVER DEPLOYED.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL CAP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE EVAC SYSTEM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AGAIN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 113,000.
MY 2008 CHEVY SUBURBAN WITH 94,000 MILES STALLED WHILE IN TRAFFIC TRAVELING AT ABOUT 20 MPH WITHOUT WARNING. I LUCKILY WAS ABLE TO COAST IT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND AFTER LETTING IT SIT FOR A SHORT TIME IT DID RESTART AGAIN BUT ONLY TO STALL AGAIN AFTER THE CAR RAN FOR ANOTHER 5 MINUTES AGAIN TRAVELING AT ABOUT 20 MPH. I HAD IT TOWED TO MY DEALERSHIP AND HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT MY CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR HAS FAILED. WHILE MY VIN AND YEAR IS NOT COVERED, THERE IS AN ACTIVE RECALL ON THIS CONDITION (GM RECALL NO. 06083.). THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS ISSUE TO HAVE ESPECIALLY WHEN TRAVELING WITH SMALL CHILDREN IN THE CAR. THE RECALL SHOULD BE EXTENDED TO OTHER YEARS WHO EXPERIENCE THIS ISSUE FOR THE SAFETY OF FAMILIES. *TR
BEGAN NOTICING LARGE CRACKS ON DASHBOARD, WHICH HAS CAUSED THE ENTIRE FRONT INSTRUMENT PANEL TO SHIFT. PANEL NOW SAGS 1/4" LOWER ON RIGHT SIDE. CRACKS ARE ALSO SURROUNDING AIRBAG LOCATIONS. SHOULD AIRBAGS DEPLOY, THE PLASTIC COULD BE VERY DANGEROUS (IE, SHRAPNEL) ALSO, ELECTRIC LIFT-GATE HAS FAILED TWICE, FALLING WHILE I AM UNDERNEATH IT. I WAS NOT INJURED. VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY IN BOTH INSTANCES OF THE CRACKS AND THE FAILED LIFT-GATE.

FEB. 15, 2015, 92,413 MILEAGE. SAME PROBLEM NOW DIAGNOSED AS #4 LIFTER BROKE. FIXED FOR HALF COST. LESS THAN 300 MILES LATER, MARCH 3, SAME LIFTER BROKE AGAIN. THREE DAYS LATER ON FAMILY FUNERAL OUT OF TOWN TRIP IT BROKE AGAIN, SAME #4 LIFTER. THREE TIMES IN 1000 MILES IS RIDICULOUS. FINALLY RIGHT... FOR THREE YEARS! AUG. 30, 2018, 136,000+ MILES. MULTIPLE BROKEN LIFTERS WITH CAM DAMAGE. REBUILD OR REPLACE MOTOR FOR $6500 OR MORE. REPLACED WITH FACTORY GM CRATE REMAN. FOR $7500. PLUS TAX. ALL AT MY COST! WHY IS THIS NOT A FACTORY DESIGN FLAW PROBLEM ON RECALL, AUTO WARRANTY OR EVEN COMPLETELY STOP PUTTING THIS AFM LIFTER ON THE MARKET. TO MY BEST RECOLLECTION, THE VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN IN REGULAR DAILY CITY TRAFFIC IN LITTLE TOWN FERNANDINA BEACH, FLORIDA FOR THREE OF THE FOUR TIMES IT BROKE. ONE TIME WAS HIGHHWAY TRAVEL COMING HOME FROM SARASOTA FLORIDA. NOT JUST AN ECONOMIC OR INCONVENIENCE ISSUE BUT A SERIOUS POTENTIAL FOR ACCIDENTS WHEN THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOOSES POWER WHEN THIS HAPPENS. COULD BE SERIOUSLY REAR ENDED OR T-BONED TRYING TO PULL OUT IN TRAFFIC. FROM THE RESEARCH I'VE DONE SO FAR AND THE BLOGS ON THIS ISSUE FOR NEARLY 10 YEARS ON LINE, ITS TIME TO GET GM TO FIX THE REAL PROBLEM OR STOP BUILDING IT AND PAY FOR THE REPAIRS.

THE DASHBOARD HAS A SERIES OF MAJOR CRACKS FORWARD OF THE STEERING WHEEL AND A NUMBER OF CRACKS AROUND THE PASSENGER FRONT AIRBAG. THE DASHBOARD SEEMS EXTREMELY BRITTLE AND IS NOW QUITE "FLIMSY" AND VIBRATES AND/OR BOUNCES UP AND DOWN WHILE DRIVING. THIS HAS HAPPENED OVER TIME. WE HAVE NOT PHYSICALLY BEEN IN THE VEHICLE WHEN A CRACK FORMED OR PROPAGATED. IT APPEARS THAT THE DASHBOARD WOULD LIKELY SHATTER UPON IMPACT THUS THROWING SHRAPNEL THROUGHOUT THE VEHICLE.
CHEVROLET DASHBOARD CRACKING..... NEAR PASSENGER AIRBAG AND ABOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL
I AM THE SECOND OWNER OF A 2008 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN FOR THE PAST 3.5 YEARS. THERE WAS A SMALL CRACK THAT STARTED ON THE DRIVER SIDE DASHBOARD WHICH IS NOW A LONG CRACK SINCE IT CONTINUES TO GROW. THERE IS ALSO A CRACK ON THE PASSENGER SIDE ABOVE THE AIRBAG. THESE CRACKS WERE NOT CREATED BY CONTACT WITH ANOTHER OBJECT, ACCIDENT, ITEMS LAID ON TOP OF THE DASH, OR VANDALISM. I FEAR THAT IF AIRBAGS ARE DEPLOYED, THE DASH WILL BREAK APART AND PIECES OF PLASTIC WILL BE PROJECTED TOWARDS THE PASSENGERS CAUSING GREAT BODILY HARM OR DEATH.
THE DASH DEVELOPED MINOR CRACKS INITIALLY AND HAS SINCE CRACKED COMPLETELY ON EACH SIDE OF THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT. I AM CONCERNED THESE SHARP PLASTIC PIECES COULD BECOME AIRBORNE DURING ROUGH ROAD CONDITIONS OR CRASH IMPACT LEADING TO SHRAPNEL LIKE SITUATIONS.
3 DOOR LOCK ACTUATORS FAILED. THIS INCLUDES THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR. ALL FAILED WITHIN 6 WEEKS.
DRIVERS DOOR HAS HAD TROUBLE CLOSING. HINGE WAS STIFF AND CREAKED LOUDLY. SEVERAL ATTEMPTS JUST TOLD NEEDED GREASED. SO WE CONTINUED TO GREASE WHEN NECESSARY AT HOME. KEPT GREASING THE HINGE. FINALLY THE DOOR WOULD NOT SHUT AT ALL AROUND 90,000 PLUS MILES WHEN FIRST NOTICED THE DOOR ISSUE. HAD TO HAVE SOMEONE COME AND HELP CLOSE THE DOOR. THE DOOR TURNED OUT TO BE DEFECTIVE METAL AND NEAR THE HINGE THE METAL HAS TORN ACROSS AND THUS LOWERED THE DOOR TO WHERE IT DOES NOT CLOSE PROPERLY. A SMALL WELD WAS DONE TO HOLD WHILE I PURSUED HELP THROUGH CHEVY TO NO AVAIL AS BY THEN WE WERE OVER 100,000 AND TOLD TOO LATE. I EVEN HAD THE BODY MANAGER TELL THEM NO RUST AROUND HINGE, DEFECTIVE METAL. NOW THE PASSENGER DOOR HAS SAME ISSUE. WINDOWS ARE STARTING TO HAVE TROUBLE CLOSING SINCE DOOR OFF LINE.
THERE IS A BIG CRACK SPANING THE LENGTH OF THE DRIVER SIDE DASHBOARD. STARTSIN THE CORNER AND OVER THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND GETTING BIGGER.
DASHBOARD HAS SEVERE CRACKS IN MULTIPLE PLACES.
